It's Hump Day and the end of June. (Tomorrow, don't forget to rabbit, plus we are doing a special Thursday project to honor Estée Lauder’s birthday…wear an Estée Lauder fragrance, if you have one.) What fragrance are you wearing?
One more day here with an excessive heat warning, then tomorrow it should cool, at least a bit. Meanwhile I'm in Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré.
Reminder: on 7/2, Donatella will be dropping by for the damage poll, so wear one of your recent purchases, and tell us why you bought it, and whether or not you have any regrets.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is from Versace's 2021 La Vacanza swimwear campaign.
In copious amounts of Guerlain AA Herba Fresca, for what is hopefully the last day of extreme heat. What a great cooling and uplifting scent! One of my summer favorites!
Happy Wednesday, everyone! ?
I have got to find my bottle of Herba Fresca. It will be perfect for the hot, humid weather we are having in my part of Texas. You smell great!
Thank you, PriscillaE! Herba Fresca is definitely one of the best scents to beat the heat and humidity! I love it! I hope you find your bottle soon!
Herba Fresca is genius, just one of the best summer scents imaginable.
I totally agree! Dame Minty Man is another good mint option that I enjoy, but Herba Fresca is unique and irreplaceable. A must have in my collection.
Okay, tempted to blind buy based on this statement alone! 🙂
Agreed: one of a kind, unbeatable, best wearable mint one can imagine. Also agreed: it is a genius fragrance!!!
Honestly, it’s fantastic. It’s minty without smelling like toothpaste, and you know how some species of mint leaves have that soft velour-y feeling? This *smells* like that feels, no sharp edges anywhere. It’s grassy and leafy and citrusy and just so so good.
Pyramus description of Herba Fresca couldn’t be better. I am almost sure you will not regret a blind buy.
OK, that convinced me to put Herba Fresca on the “To Sniff” list!
I hope you like it!
I’m wearing another Nicolai creation, Eau d’Ete.
Nicolai is so good for summer scents.
Yes! L’Eau à la Folie is one of my favourite summer scents, though I’m using it sparingly these days since she’s no longer selling it. 🙁 I should try Eau d’Été.
I’m in a discreet spritz of A*Men Pure Coffee, basically the original plus a massive overdose of coffee. It’s probably a bit too warm for that sort of thing but I don’t care, it’s what I was in the mood for, and no weather system is going to tell me what to do.
That’s the spirit! I love coffee no matter what the temperature so you smell great in my book.
I agree about weather not dictating what to wear. Last night, I was craving for vintage CK Obsession, so I had a spray before taking my dog out for a walk in a super hot and humid evening. I really enjoyed it!
Agree! Some of the heavy hitters really bloom when it is warm.
Forgot to add, I love Obsession! Our personnel secretary wore it and it smelled wonderful. She was a great person too. Every time I smell it I remember her. She is retired now, I hope she is enjoying her days and freedom:)
In my case, just a spritz is always enjoyable.
I definitely have some maximalist scents I like best in the heat!
Me three – Youth Dew while push-mowing is a magic carpet ride!
MossyBerry, that sounds AMAZING! You’ve given me a homework project. 😀
I keep thinking I need a coffee scent in my collection. A*men is the only one I know, although it seems like something the Jo Malone line would do, too, but weaker and prissier. (Not that I have feelings about JM! Ha!) It’s such a great note. What I think I want is something like Montale Chocolate Greedy but with coffee. Almost literal coffee, but with enough other stuff to keep it interesting.
I think Bond 9 did a good coffee one–New Haarlem. I remember liking the sample I had.
New Haarlem was glorious, and if they haven’t messed with it too much, it still is, because it was excellent, minimalist, mostly bergamot up top and then barely sweetened coffee and then patchouli, but very carefully composed, not just flung together. I could never justify buying a full bottle (I had CSP Vanille Moka, my go-to coffee scent), but I enjoyed every drop of my decant and sometimes I miss it.
Have you tried LUSH Cardamom Coffee? The coffee note in that one is great. There’s also Replica Coffee Break and Tom Ford Cafe Rose.
Those are all new for me. I’m starting a list!
I will also recommend DSH Café Noir and Ava Luxe Café Noir. I have both and the coffee note is very prominent.
I bought the solid of Cardamom Coffee, and you know how in a Lush store you can’t smell anything properly because it’s like every smell in the universe all at once? When I got it home I *hated* it, and I really tried. So I gave it away. Just not for me, alas.
Lush and Replica are both good.
My dog loves Cardamom Coffee, she tries to lick the solid perfume off me. LOL.
Awake by Akro is also great!
Adding it to the list! I haven’t tried any scents by Akro.
If it were only available to buy… Discontinued by CdG Wood Coffee smelled like LITERAL coffee with some sugar and cream… Why the good ones get discontinued?
Wow, that sounds perfect!
I know I used to have a bottle and if You smelled a spray with Your eyes closed it was as a real cup of coffee was right infront of Your nose…
Cafe Tuberosa is a good one, and I think Atelier still offers the 15ml travel spray!
Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Café is very good, a lot of creamy coffee on a base of rich vanilla. Test before you consider buying, because CSP does reformulate often and you never know, but it used to be amazing.
famous last words… but it used to be amazing.
I like Teo Cabanel Café Cabanel and Atélier Cologne Café Tuberosa. CdG Wood Coffee was great but alas DC’d, as is Bond No. 9 New Haarlem (which had a bit too much immortelle for me). Montale makes a couple, Intense Café and Ristretto Intense Café but I’ve heard the coffee note is short-lived. Then there’s Xerjoff Golden Dallah and Golden Moka, but again not tons of coffee. Ava Luxe Café Noir was heavy duty coffee if I recall.
Thank you for the notes on each fragrance! I’m looking at the Akro site. The only way to sample is to get the full sample set? The chocolate one sounds good, too, but not interested in the others. . .
You can buy individual samples on Luckyscent.
Thanks!
The chocolate one is delightful! I had a bottle and traded it away because Mr. Teebear does not handle gourmands well. I still miss it!
Liz Zorn/Soivohle has a coffee scented body oil that is the best coffee perfume I have smelled. Period.
Kerosene’s Follow is a nice sweet coffee scent. I found it a bit too literal, but my husband adored it on me.
I’m with you on too much coffee.
After three espressos, I have a facial tic.
Another hot day!
I will be enjoying my time inside
Omnia today
Thinking of Deva when I wear this..anyone know how she is?
Went to the moves last night and saw a French film Summer of 85.
Robin, forgot to mention. Amo today’s photo!!!
🙂
I wore Omnia last week, and kept up my streak that EVERY time I wear it, a man tells me how nice I smell (in this case, my husband, since I’m still pretty isolated, but even still)! It’s got some kind of alchemy. In any case, you smell great! Use your powers only for good today. 😉
I need to get a bottle of Omnia, I hear so many good things about it!
I believe Omnia has been discontinued but they manufactured a lot of it so you can still find it on Amazon and at the discounters. Be warned that some people literally can’t smell it, but for those of us who can it’s a marvel, a cashmere blanket in a bottle — warm, creamy, soft and beguiling without being sticky-sweet or cloying. It’s an actual work of art.
Oh, thanks for the heads up!
ST-I don’t recommend blind buying but in this case its very well done.

and a mention here:

I can also send you a sample of mine. Let me know
Wise choice to stay inside! I opened my door and got an instant headache. We need rain though so I hope the promised thunderstorms show up in a non-destructive way.
Deva is doing well based on the IG posts and stories!
Deva checked in a little while ago, I don’t remember which day, had an lovely video of birds with fledglings met on a walk.
Here:

Thank you Robin.
Thanks Robin!
This sounds interesting! I just found a bottle for under $35… I am going to have a lot of sins to Donatella this quarter.
Excellent
Deva would approve
I hope you enjoy it
I am one of those people who really can’t smell the original Omnia. I get faint spices and that’s about it.
Morning all, SOTD is Sun, Moon, and Stars by Karl Lagerfeld. I love the super cute cobalt blue bottle.
The more I look at my collection, I realize Sophia Grojsman is probably one of my favorite perfumers. So many favorites are created by her.
She’s great! I wish they’d bring Bvlgari Femme back, it was so beautiful. I had to discard the remnants of my bottle because it had turned completely. Oddly, my Yvresse which is even older smells still perfect!
The bottle of Sun, Moon, Stars is so pretty, no idea how it smells though. It is weird how some bottles are imprinted in the memory while the memory of the scent has totally evaporated? How does it smell like?
I agree! I adore Bvlgari Femme, and treasure my bottle. I wish it hadn’t been discontinued.
Sun, Moon, and Stars is a warm amber/floral, less jasmine-forward than the original Alien and it’s sweeter, but not like today’s saccharine-sweet perfumes. SMS seems more balanced.
Thanks – to the sampling (blind-buy?) list it goes…
It’s a mystery, isn’t it? I had a couple of old bottles go south recently (one was a mini), but I also have bottles from the seventies that are in perfect condition. You just can’t predict what you’ll have in a year or ten. This is why I think we should use them and love them while we can. No sense saving them for a special occasion that they won’t live to see.
It’s so true, use them and enjoy them! My bottle is beginning to turn so I’d best enjoy it while I can!
I do love the adorable minis…. But not safe to have them out. SmokeyToes loves playing hockey with them.
I agree – every day is a special occasion:)
I loved that one, you smell great!
Oh, and I finished All The Ways We Said Goodbye – nice read, although the switching between decades WW I, WW II and the 1960’s got a little confusing towards the end.
You smell fabulous!!
I love that bottle!
LOVE the bottle for Sun, Moon, and Stars. That would have been a good pick for the Bottle Porn CP!
I made the most of my remote working day: L’Eau d’Hiver for the morning run, followed by liberal spritzes of Le Labo Lys 41 after the shower.
My travel spray of Lys is from ca. 2013, with darkened juice and residue so it is in the risk of becoming a toxicologist’s nightmare. It smells better than it did when fresh, though. Still, I aim to finish it as soon as possible and will likely be my ironic choice for tomorrow too.
I was thinking of the same with acquired brands. Makes me think EL is more a fragrance company than one for cosmetics.
That’s a pretty good observation…
Lys 41 is divine. I should wear mine tomorrow!
No SOTD, yet. Still waking up. Today is the beginning of a 4 days of a virtual conference–9am-6pm through Saturday. If it’s boring, you’ll know by all the comments I put here! I’m trying to figure out if I have enough signal to take my laptop out to the garage and still get my lifting done. I can do it earlier in the morning, too, of course, but if I don’t have to wake up early, that sounds best.
Oof — four days of virtual conference sounds potentially tedious — hopefully the content is engaging! I definitely indulged in some exercise while e-attending a one-day conference recently, and have been known to get some cooking done during staff Zoom meetings. The one good thing I can say about Zoom meetings and virtual gatherings is that you can turn your camera off and multi-task!
Agreed! I will definitely be doing some cooking.
I’ve done the hide and mute and have done some cooking and / or eating. If you’re the host / facilitator, would you turn your camera off? I wouldn’t. I was tempted to call someone out on it but she doesn’t report to me but I really think that is really in poor form.
I find that doing a mindless physical task helps me get through the less-engaging conference calls. Otherwise it can be too tempting to knock out emails or, let’s be honest, fall into an internet rabbit hole 🙂
During some Zoom calls I have found myself doing needlework.
I’ve known many folks who do that for in-person meetings, too!
Four. Days? 😯
I know, right?! It’s a national conference with 8000 participants. And there don’t seem to be lunch breaks built in, so it’s good I can cook and eat in the background.
No lunch breaks?! And here I thought the whole point of professional conferences is that they’re catered! (I know, hardly possible in these Zoom times)
They sent me a box with “treats” in it, a sort of consolation prize–granola bars, popcorn and such. Definitely not as good as a proper meal!
Oooooooooooooogh. Four days?!
I have 5 days of zoom training next week – 8 until 5, with a one hour lunch break. It better be amazing, and teaching AP bio will be worth it, right???
You KNOW my conference is education related, right?! #WhatTeachersDoIntheSummer 😀
AP Bio could be great! I’ve never taught an advanced class; but I imagine it could be fun!
Oh ouf! I get to manage a similarly crammed full digital conference in two weeks and am NOT looking forward to it! Hope you get to lift and find time to check in here ?
Finally thunked Jardin sur le Nil yesterday! Feels so great! Even though I loved it.
Today I’m in Bergamote Soleil for a scorching day (that might actually be the end of our heat wave?)
I hope. I was planning on going to the office tomorrow instead of Friday bit it will still be humid so I will stick to Friday.
Friday should be much better! I hope so, at any rate. And I normally like the heat….
Yay for a thunk!
Good morning!
I am wearing Pleasures Intense, one of my EL favourites. I have so many from EL I thought I will start one day early.
I can’t believe we are half way through 2021 already! This year has been incredibly fast. Hopefully the second half is better.
What is Pleasures Intense like?
A clean bouquet of pink and white flowers with a touch of happiness!
Nice! Thanks for the information!
Yay for the last day of June! :-). Wanted to continue my incense theme with Wazamba but no access to the bottle so Shangri La it is. Fortunately less hot today!
Glad someone is enjoying it, I would like another June, please. (Preferably not as hot as this one.)
My son came home from camp one day last week with a bunch of strawberries that he’d picked from the camp gardens — they were perfectly ripe and smelled glorious but since he’d put them in his backpack pocket they were all mooshed. So, after dinner we made jam out of them, which made the whole kitchen smell glorious. It reminded me of when I worked in a restaurant kitchen years ago, me being the only woman who’d ever worked in that kitchen and the kitchen being a quagmire of machismo and stiff hostility. Eventually the sous-chef decided he liked me, and he somehow picked up on the fact that the smell of cooking strawberries is one of my favorite scents in the world. He would make jam every night, after the dinner rush was over, and whenever it was strawberry he’d call me back to the corner where he was stirring the big jam kettle so that I could lean over and breathe in that warm strawberry heaven cloud.
Commando today but I’ll be having delicious jam with my toast!
What a lovely strawberry story 🙂
I love that story! Working in the catering and restaurant industry was HARD but when everything clicked, it was marvelous.
I miss the zany, dark humor and camaraderie. And those late night dinners….
Mmm, fresh strawberry jam!!
Your comment reminded me that I had fresh strawberries in the fridge – just had a handful.
On campus, we have those teeny-tiny little strawberries. I’m always so tempted to try a few but I don’t know what out grounds keepers are spraying on them. Best not to go there.
Oh, that’s a shame. The Italian peasant in me has a hard time not harvesting every edible I come across, but sometimes you just don’t know what else is in the environment. There are edible mushrooms that come up under one of the oaks in the parking lot at my office, but I always leave them be since the parking lot tends to attract unsavory characters after hours and one never knows what they’ve done, or spilled, or peed…
What a lovely story! It reminds me of the day I was in the back kitchen (aka pastry ghetto), when the woman who supplied herbs came in with a huge batch of freshly-harvested local strawberries. The intoxicating scent of them is one of my favorite smell-memories.
Ha ha — my “pastry ghetto” involved a sheet pan laid across a trash can for extra work space, but I made some lovely things in that kitchen and my arms always smelled like chocolate from cutting up those ginormous professional-sized blocks!
Oh, yeah, the classic set-up! ? I enjoyed the work, but not the machismo. Perhaps it’s beginning to change.
That’s a bummer those lovely berries got squished, but you both made something wonderful out of them. ?
I bet your son is going to have great memories of the scent of making jam with you!
I’m going with the CP today and wearing CBIHP A Room with a View. I bought it earlier this year when I realized my sample was running out and I should probably just own it. I have to say I am NOT a fan of his roll-on bottles, though — wish there were some other option for the absolute.
We have survived our heat wave, finally! I took the family to a hotel for the worst day of it; turns out half of Vancouver had the same idea, it seemed. We turned up right when they opened check-in, and the line was out the door and down the driveway already, full of caged critters and double strollers and large families. Climate change refugees! It was a good move in the end, though, even if it did take nearly an hour to check in.
I’m feeling for everyone still enduring a heat wave. And I’ve got to look into air conditioning options over the fall/winter. Everyone’s warning that these are no longer outlier events. (Sigh.)
Happily, friends offered me their basement suite in the suburbs. Vancouver sure is not set up for extreme weather.
We really are not! Glad you were able to hang out in a basement suite — I wish we had a basement.
I am sooo sad because I just moved here from Montréal in an effort to escape the heat. :-(. Noooooooo!
It’s not…normally…like this. I promise! We’re just ill-prepared the one time a year it happens. And at least the humidity is better. 😀
Yes… This week has been a WALL of humidity in Mtl.
I’m so happy for you that the heat wave is ending!
Many sprays of Osmanthe Yunnan this morning, and breathing in the cool morning air at last. Today is Watering Wednesday and I will give all the landscape plants a good drink.
Only watering WEDNESDAY? I’ve had to water every day this week. I try to buy things that are “draught tolerant,” but even those need to get established before they’re ok, AND of course, none of them are planted with 115 degree days in mind.
The landscape plants are established, and in accordance with my “survival of the fittest” philosophy, the wanting-water ones died off the second or third summer. The remaining ones are good with once a week watering.
In general, my gardening philosophy sounds close to yours. I’m not a great gardener, but I’m pretty good at noticing what I haven’t killed and planting more of it. There’s only so much are I’m willing to put into it. But my garden is all brand new, so it’s requiring more attention while it gets established.
You smell fantastic, and I admire your tough-love approach to gardening.
Sample day again, Douler!2 from Bouge. Very strange, loud camphorous aquatic.
Reading My Best Friend’s Exorcism. Very fun teen horror/drama if you’re not tired of pop culture 80s nostalgia yet.
I would very much enjoy smelling a loud camphorous aquatic, but this sounds like a high niche fragrance art concept that would not wear very well on most people. I am sure I would find it masculine; if you have time check back in with a report on the drydown! 🙂
I’m not sure what the concept is supposed to be, exactly, but it’s certainly more “artsy” than wearable. If I had to peg a concept, I’d say robots at a summer picnic in the park, a mix of unnatural metallic elements with watery/medicinal facets. Interesting to smell but not to wear to work as I mistakenly did.
3 hours in, it is going strong even with an attempt at scrubbing.
Don’t know the whys and wherefores of some of these scents. If they are meant to be sold, then the nose should realize they, er, won’t be. There always will be a market for the edgy, though. Thanks for the news!
I like a lot of those kinds of scents! I find most Zoologist, ELDO and things perfectly “wearable.” But not this.
Thanks for the rec!
The first Douleur nearly killed me, inducing frantic panicked scrubbing to get the sickly sweet vomit smell off me. I am too traumatized to try any more versions.
Never tried the first one but uhhh. I definitely had to start my day apologizing to my office mates.
Loud Camphorous Aquatic is gonna make me run in the opposite direction at full speed! No thanks!
Run faster! ?♀️?
Wearing the sadly discontinued Pour La Belle and the weather was finally okay for biking to work. Talked with my boss about working a bit less, maybe just 90%. Hope he will agree.
Fingers crossed for you! 90% does not seem like a huge ask.
Hope you get a positive response!
I hope it works! I’ve been working less than usual during the recovery from my recent surgery, and I’m crossing my fingers that I manage to continue working a bit less once I’m fully back to normal! (As a friend said, “You shouldn’t have to have just had surgery to work a 40-hour workweek.”)
Hear hear!
Good luck! I hope your boss is reasonable.
Medium heat, high humidity again here today, SOTD = Vivacious! which is cool enough for the hot, and zippy enough to keep me going at work, where we have a variety of stupid, unfortunate issues cropping up….retirement is looking better and better!
Boo hiss for stupid & unfortunate work issues!
Sorry about the stupid issues – hope they’re not too painful to resolve!
Santa Maria Novella Melograno
It’s time for my 2nd vaccine jab today.
Also starting my weekend a bit early as I took Thursday and Friday off.
SotD is VC&A Bois d’Iris.
Congratulations on the 2nd jab! And enjoy your long weekend!
Good luck with the 2nd jab!
Congratulations on the second dose!
Good luck! You smell great for it!
Woohoo! Congrats on jab #2!
Hurray for Shot #2! May you have mild side effects.
Congratulations! And you smell amazing.
Congrats on the last vax dose!
Hump day , yep. SOTD is Chanel Paris Edimborg.
Did everyone but me know Andy Warhol was buried with a bottle of EL Beautiful?
The things I learn at the company of many fragrances.
I found that out when I lemminged the Beautiful Absolu Andy Warhol collector’s edition box. Absolu is very nice but does not last the way the older versions of Beautiful do. I thought from the name it would!
How do you find Paris-Edimbourg?
I haven’t smelled it yet but would love to!
I love it very much! And, its more of an all year fragrance to me than the other eauxs. Now I await the body lotion to go with it.
Must try. Whenever that could happen.
I learned at the AW museum in Pittsburg that he would wear a fragrance for three months, and then move on to another, never going back to one he had already worn. He would keep all of the bottles so that he could use them to trigger memories from the time in his life that he wore it. Or at least, so he said. 🙂 I wonder if EL Beautiful was from a particularly beloved period (or person) in his life.
I will see what I can find out from the archives.
The company of many fragrances starts its new fiscal year tomorrow, which is of course, the birthday of Mrs. Estee Lauder as she is referred to, so I will get to see what ways they choose to celebrate.
I didn’t know either!
Nope, I didn’t know either.
Didn’t know about Andy Warhol & EL Beautiful.
I did know that, but I have no idea how I came by the knowledge.
SotD = Ashoka. Every time I wear it, I feel like wearing my 2nd skin. Also love it’s almost never-ending list of notes, just shows how genuine and complex this perfume is.
You smell great!
SOTD Vetiver Oriental. Still on a bit of a vetiver kick from wearing Timbuktu last week.
You smell fabulous – VO was the one that made me realize I could love vetiver.
The only vetiver I ever really loved.
How funny, it’s one of very few vetivers that make me go, “Do I even like vetiver?”
Agree. V-O is an N-O for me!
😀
SotD vintage Amazone edt. Galbanum and rich florals and smooth woods – a favorite style of mine. Really looking forward to EL Day tomorrow – my favorite house and I might have to do a morning and evening duo. I am excited to hear what everyone else will choose.
Beautiful perfume, you smell elegant.
Oh, vintage Amazone is so good! I have a mini of the EDT and a quarter ounce of the parfum so I am set for life. You’re lucky to have it: it’s a rare treat.
It’s a favorite – sometimes I think my “nom de parfum” should be GalbanumBerry….
Wearing no 22 edt, non vintage version. Still hot and humid today with plenty of work and friend issues.
Oh no, that sounds like an awful weather forecast: “Hot and humid with plenty of work and friend issues; low pressure approaching from the south…” Hope the day is gentle, and at least you smell great!
I hope the issues don’t become too serious.
SOTD is No. 19 to summon the authority and confidence to give a presentation this afternoon. Fingers crossed my tech is working with me and not against me this time. Either way, looking forward to tonight’s Sniffa event as a post-presentation gift to myself. Hope to see some of you there. Will be back to read comments tonight.
Drinking lots of Assam to keep me sharp.
Good luck!
Thank you!
Go Vee, you smell great.
Thanks and thanks!
I’m sure you’ll rock it, and you smell wonderful!
Thanks! It went pretty well
Hooray!
Twins and good luck!
Thanks! You smell great 🙂
Good luck!! I’m sure the no. 19 will do its job.
Thank you! I think it worked 🙂
Hope that your presentation went well today! You smelled great in No. 19, of course.
Thank you! I think it went well. The presenter before me ran long, so I had to condense down from 20 minutes to 10, but I’m a fast talker. 🙂 I’m hoping I earned some points from the audience for trying to get us back on schedule.
Wearing Fils de Dieu today. Hoping it’s the last day of oppressive heat hopefully and we can go back to regular summer!
Booked my 2nd jab for July 13th!
You smell great, yay for the jab.
Thank you Aurora!
We finally got some cooler air this morning!
Woo hoo! That’s great news!
Congratulations on your almost-Bastille-Day jab! And you smell great. Fils de Dieu disappears awfully fast on my skin, but it’s lovely for a few minutes at least.
I got more spices today so maybe it was the extra heat!
w00t w00t for vaccine appointment #2!
Thank you! Just can’t wait!
Congrats on the appointment for jab #2!
Thank you, Vee!
You smell fabulous, and congrats on the next appointment!
Thank you Sistine! We are all very excited to have our first (all vaccinated) get-together!
You smell great, and yay for the appointment!
Scent: Nishane Wulong Cha on the right arm. Crown Perfumes Green Tea on the left. Soon: DSH Pamplemousse.
Tea: Republic of Tea Black Raspberry Green Tea
Thank you all for the birthday wishes, really appreciated, tried to acknowledge every message.
Calyx during the day, still faintly detectable when pressing nose to wrist but this evening I picked The Cotswold Perfumery Cymbelline (vintage), a sandalwood which is pretty much the drydown of vintage Miss Dior.
Happy belated birthday 🙂 (Your perfume sounds wonderful! I love vintage Miss Dior.)
Thank you Koyel, this obscure British perfume is really a little gem, glad you love vintage Miss Dior too.
Me too! It’s gorgeous!
Happy belated Birthday, Aurora!?
Thank you so much.
Vintage sandalwood sounds gorgeous. Probably smells gorgeous, too! ?
Yes, it is all about sandalwood, no complaint?
Happy belated birthday!
Thank you Sistine.
Indochine from Parfumerie Generale today, I think I’d describe as spicy and green.
Happy Wednesday! It’s Herba Fresca for me. ?
Twins!
Hey twin! Smelling good!
house twins! 😀 😀
Hi house twin!
Trying Un Air d’Apogée by Maison Violet…interesting blend…I get flowers, tobacco, hay and leather.
Sounds wonderful!
such a great name, and sounds like lovely notes, too. 😀
What tiffanie said about that name! Wow!
That sounds fabulous.
SotD = Breath of God + Cologne du Parfumeur
BoG is wonderfully odd to my nose, I adore it. CdP is weird. It has a dry feeling (from sage?) which puts a nice twist on the traditional citrus. They work nicely together.
Gosh, Wednesday already. The week is flying by. Lately I make to do lists then ignore them, flitting about from one thing to another. It’s a relief to feel a bit loosey-goosey. 😀
This week IS really flying by!
zoom! 😉 glad I’m not the only one who feels it.
This month just blew by!
ha! yes, for sure June seemed too short. When I realized July starts tomorrow I cringed a little bit. I go back to work at school at the end of August this year.
Late and still hot here. Wearing my all-time hot weather fave, Caleche.
A break in the extreme heat has been predicted for my area tomorrow. Hope you are in line to get some relief soon too!
Thanks, Jalapeño! Yes, tomorrow evening for us. Yay!
You must smell lovely! I recently discovered Caleche soie (the EDP), and I’m very curious to try the EDT.
I have lots to share! If you would like to sample it, I’m at
standing dawt armsakimbo in the land of G male. Drop me a line. ?
SotD is Neroli Orchidee – too hot/humid to want anything stronger.
Sipping on cold brew and dealing with a lap full of floof who doesn’t like the rain, lol. Will have to check the garden later for storm damage…
a lap full of floof sounds wonderful on a rainy day, or any day! 😀
I put on a small spray of Zoologist Dodo 2020, and then began folding some clean laundry. I honestly thought my recently neutered male cat had peed on the basket because it just stank so much! I was horrified and sniffed all the towels and sheets but no, they were fine. It was me! I rushed to perform a major scrubbing operation! This stuff is vile!
Have you tried Hyrax?? I have my little sample; have never dared wearing again after the first time, but it was not a scrubber to me. Maybe I will try Hyrax again, but not while doing laundry 🙂 Did you get a new kitty?
I too like Hyrax but in the teeny tiniest of dabs and probs not ever when I need to go to work and seem respectable! I got a sample ages ago and since I use so little of it – and often layer the tiny drop with Yosh Sottile – it’s lasting me forever. I can’t imagine who would buy a full bottle of it…
I did try Hyrax and disliked it, but it wasn’t as repellent as Dodo. Yes I somehow have taken in four new cats! I know, it’s crazy, and really expensive! A now neutered Tom, and a mama with two kittens.
Gak!! At least you hadn’t doused yourself in it and immediately gone out!
Yuck! Note to self: skip trying Dodo.??
Oh Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Tomcat pee is some of the worst.
Oh no! That sounds awful. ?
Oh no!!! That’s only Zoologist I have NOT been tempted to try from reviews I’ve read. Your solidified that impression for sure.
Chiming in late to say that I spent the day in Tam Dao and enjoyed the overcast skies and cool temps we had here today more than I ever have. 🙂
ommmmmmmmm…
🙂
you smell wonderful!
yep, what tiffanie said!
I’m in Chanel Beige, again.
Just saw a license plate on the way home that said DNGR PMS. Lol. I feel ya sister.?
Now, to catch up on comments!
Lol!
Awesome license plate!
Oh, so good!!
Oh that’s such a great plate!
Lolol
Horrendously hot and humid today! I went outside only to water the potted plants today. The mailbox can wait until tomorrow, as can the recyclables.
Mr. Jalapeno is feeling better today, but not 100%.
SOTD = the last of the Olivier Durbano Rock Crystal EdP. Thunk goes the sample!
I’m glad Mr. Jalapeno continues to improve. Sorry about the weather you’re enduring, though — it sounds like you made the right choice to hunker and stay comfortable. Those recyclables aren’t going anywhere…
A break in the heat is coming soon, so I can’t really complain. I really feel for people who have been enduring stuff like this for weeks on end!
I hope Mr. Jalapeno gets back to 100% soon. In the meantime, there are zero reasons to go outside!
Thank you Vee! He is much less uncomfortable today, so that’s heading in the right direction.
I hope Mr. Jalapeño continues to improve quickly, and that you get some cool weather soon.
Thanks sistine! It’s supposed to drop by nearly 30 degrees for the long weekend. Crazy.
I watered the tomato and pepper plants plus my flowers this morning. That’s all I could muster! I hope your hubby is feeling much better soon!
The surgery was minimally invasive, but still invasive. He felt good enough to enjoy Sloppy Joes for dinner, ha!
Glad he was feeling up to Sloppy Joes! So good!
Today has felt very much like a 2020 throwback. My cat scratched my ear a few says ago, and although I thought I had cleaned it thoroughly, it’s become infected and so I had to spend some time at the doctor today.
But more importantly, I’ve been glued to the news because a venomous spitting cobra escaped from some idiot’s house in the area where I work, and they have cornered it but may not have captured it yet . If this was still the school year I would be calling in sick tomorrow. I can deal with lockdowns but cobras?? No way.
SOTD is Taunt by DedCool.
A venomous snake loose in the area? Oh BLEEP no!
Seconding Jalapeno’s BLEEP — a *cobra* on the loose? No, thank you!
Some years ago my dad sent me a link to a local news station video about a huge python that had escaped from someone’s house in my hometown, and the email was titled “Don’t tell your grandma.” I watched the video, and lo, it showed the animal control folks carrying the finally-located snake down, yes, my 99-year-old grandmother’s driveway. She was napping or reading and had no idea what had gone down in her own back yard!
Popping in for a quick PSA: Fragrancenet has a few bottles of Ormonde Jayne (Woman, Frangipani and Prive). With their 35% off coupon RENG7, the 4 oz/120ml bottles come out to ~$150 which is $75 off retail.
I just spritz on my sample of Ormonde Woman to see if I wanted a full bottle, it’s still firmly in the like, but not love category for me.
