Reminder: on 6/11, for King Kamehameha I Day, wear a tropical or beachy floral. Bonus points if your fragrance includes at least one floral or fruit note native to Hawaii. (Native in modern times, that is, given that many of the flowers and fruits we associate with Hawaii were brought from elsewhere.)

For this week’s cp, I’m revisiting my Olivine Atelier perfume oils. I ordered a sample set a few years ago and used up my favorites, but still have a few left. The remaining vials have started to evaporate and condense. Today I’m in Bluebird, with notes of neroli, lily and vanilla.
Since my youngest daughter finished her first year of high school last week, over the weekend we introduced her to The Breakfast Club. This time I paid attention and when Claire dumps the contents of her purse out, there was that long burgundy bottle of Lauren perfume with the gold cap. Exactly what I wore in high school, although I was nowhere near as rich and preppy as Claire. Now I’ve been perusing the bay of evil for vintage bottles.? Should probably just order a decant from STC.

I’m in Salt from Scent Trunk. I think it would perfectly for a beach scent for a dry beach – like in Greece. Sigh. I am so grateful to have been able to go to Greece and know what those beaches are like!

I had a fabulous dinner out on Saturday, at a lovely cafe in San Mateo. The meal was so satisfying I almost didn’t care about dessert! The pink roses from the hubby are opening beautifully. Now I’m off the the gym for a workout!

Commando as I took my toddler for her doctor’s checkup. She is 2 years of age and this is the first checkup that indicated She has mild stigmatism. I almost cried because both my parents have it and so do I. Up until now it was never detected in Her. Now I have to book a real eye doctor’s appointment to get recommendations – which equals driving at least 150 miles since where I live, a small island in FL we do not have any children’s eye doctors per say.
In trying to take my mind off of this a little bit of course I visited here, my favorite blog – and only blog I choose to go to.
Thanks to the reminder of 06/11, Robin “made me” google what are the native plants of Hawaii. I want the bonus points!! Of course I knew they have lots of tropical flowers and pikake but now I gotta check ingredients in all my perfumes… Although my Tuberoza might not have listed any “Hawaiian” ingredients but it is the most sweet, beautiful tropical floral. By the way, my bottle says “Warszawa” on it which is Warsaw which is the city I was born in. It is very interesting to me that Nishane dedicated a mexican tuberose to my hometown. Does it smell like Warsaw? Warsaw women are indeed elegant and there are lots of cafes, expensive boutiques and why not a tuberose fragrance representing Warsaw!!
I do have a question for my fellow NSTers: has anyone ever smelled Puredistance Warszawa? Is it worth the $$$? And also has anyone tried THoO “The Time”? How much of a tea fragrance is it? Thanks in advance for any replies!!

I have tried The Time. My notes say: “Bergamot, lemon verbena, tea. Nice citrus/tea scent. Doesn’t last long though.”
I heard about Lasik… Would like to maybe fix mine with Lasik?
Hmmm.. Citrus tea. A lot of tea f tea frags are “citrus” too. It does not bother me – I like it. I am wearing Teazzurra today and loving every whiff of it. Doesn’t last long – well I like my perfumes to last at least a lil’ bit!!

My Mom just calmed me down about it too, it isn’t a surprising diagnosis since we all Have astigmatism too. But otherwise my daughter is super healthy!!

It was a while ago, AND I am not a BWF aficionado, so all I remember about Puredistance Warszawa that is was well-done and expensive-smelling. Since it IS expensive, you would think the latter would be a given, but alas, there are way too many pricey-but-cheap-smelling scent out there…

Temperature is rapidly approaching a horrifying 42°C (35° plus humidex), but I am wearing warm and sultry I Profumo do Firenze Vaniglia di Madagascar because we are in an air-conditioned hotel room (and of course I had a bunch of random samples in my toiletry bag). We’re not leaving the room today and we might not tomorrow either — more of the same weather before it goes back to normal on Wednesday. Clearly we are going to have to move to an apartment with AC before next summer, but for now, this’ll do.

CP One That Got Away: l’Artisan Ananas Fizz. I fell in love with it long after it was discontinued, whoops!
Feeling your pain re Ananas Fizz. I routinely sprayed it on myself when I would go to my local perfume shop at lunch and remember walking away thinking I should buy it. Those were the days when I didn’t realize that perfumes could be discontinued (RIP L’Artisan Santal which was my first serious foray into fragrance)
I wore Frangipani yesterday. I have forgotten how pretty it is. You smell great!

I’m reminded of a few CP worthy scents in my collection, but not for today. Today I’m wearing what I should have worn last Friday – You or Someone Like You, which I got from Robin in a full bottle giveaway. Good for a warm, humid day in Texas.

I have so much to do this final week of school both personally and professionally. My husband has suggested that I actually schedule a day for “nothing productive” next week. I’m not great at that sort of thing, but this time, I think he’s on to something.

I bought BG years ago at Macy’s. I had gone there just to buy it. When I marched up to the sales counter, I could smell it but where was it? It wasn’t on display. I zeroed in on the SA who was wafting BG and told her I wanted to buy what she was wearing. She laughed and pulled a box out from behind the counter. (Don’t ask me why they had it for sale, but hidden away!)
EL is known to hide stuff away – maybe only the very newest offerings are on display.
Bronze Goddess is actually pretty subtle on me, but I have a rollerball vial so maybe my applications are always on the light side. Love that you sniffed it out via a sales associate’s sillage!
I like tropical flower notes, but I’m not really into beachy scents, particularly ones that smell reminiscent of suntan lotion. Speaking of which, I had a conversation with one of you good folk about my bottle of Yosh Ginger Ciao (which does unfortunately remind me of the sunscreens of my youth) several months back, but I can’t remember specifically who it was. Reply here, if you were that person.
Otherwise, smell good and eat some chocolate ice cream today!

It is so hot in NYC right now, and has been for the past few days. I’ve been swimming in Jardin sur le Nil, and still am. So close to thunking my bottle, and I want to enjoy every last delicious drop in the heat. And I think I get CP points today, too, since even though mangoes are not native to Hawaii, they sure grow there!

Boo, Monday. But the sun is currently out and I got some good yoga in before starting work. I’m still participating in last week’s CP: the remains of Perles de Mousse from yesterday evening in one elbow, a bit of Barkhane on the back of my left hand and Korres Saffron Orris on my right arm. All from lovely generous NST folks!

I actually felt better after my 2nd Moderna shot than I did after the first one (which knocked me sideways for a while). I hope you have no side effects. 😀
I spent the weekend on a short trip to visit family and participate in a memorial/charity walk which was thankfully short because the weather was sunny and sweltering. All I brought with me was JM Orange Peel. It didn’t last more than a couple of hours, but the burst of citrus on each reapply was wonderfully refreshing. In retrospect, I should have stored it in the fridge to up the refreshment.
Today I’m back on the Forest&Juniper/Cypress hunt, and testing Dead Leaves & Dirty Ground perfume oil from Andromeda’s Curse, which was part of a Scent of Leaves sample pack from StC. Was surprised at the opening, which reminded me of Angel of all things. About 15 minutes in, it was mostly patchouli and some indistinct gourmand notes (tonka and sweet almond maybe?). Not what I’m looking for. Hopefully it doesn’t have super staying power because the plastic of my laptop absorbed quite a bit of it off my wrists. 🙂
Drinking Clipper Ship Chocolate Pu’er, which is as close to chocolate ice cream as I will probably get today.
Switched it up for the afternoon and am now in Banana Republic’s Cypress Cedar, which was a TJ Maxx cheapie for me. It does what it says: cypress and cedar, with some pepper and vetiver thrown in. There is a sharp sour note that my nose picks up as coriander, but according to BR is rhubarb — either way, I like it. No fresh dirt or incense notes, so it’s not advancing to the Forest Finals, but a fun distraction, and a good choice for a hot day.
Interesting…I don’t think my laptop picks up perfume? If it does, I just don’t notice. My fitbit definitely picks up scent so I am careful about that.
wouldn’t it be nice if our laptops could pick up our scents then congratulate us on smelling so good? 😉

National Chocolate Ice Cream day? Well, don’t mind if I do!
1) SOTD: Cap Neroli on a cool and partly cloudy day! Does not radiate as much; stays close to the skin with the cooler weather.
2) One of the plumbers I was contemplating for doing the second fix of my work sent a d*** pic to my phone. Needless to say, will NOT be using that person for work.
3) ANYWAYS! It’s starting to look like a kitchen- the wall/base cabinets and the pantry are on the walls! There was some confusion with the doors- they swing in one direction , whereas I think I want them bi-directional.

OH WOW! I’m in that too from the same split, I bet, and I’m loving it! It’s unusual in my experience. I was disappointed when I looked up reviews and so many people were dumping on it for costing too much and being un-original and having no staying power. I’m very impressed by it and it’s a good entry for this week’s CP!
Robin, I love that plumeria photo. They are such beautiful flowers. I do occasionally see some growing around in my neighborhood, and invariably go up close to sniff them. Probably none survived our awful freeze this year, though.

I’m sorry about your mom. In the case of my mom, it comes and goes. I generally introduce myself when I go in, so it’s not a guessing game, which I think would just be plain mean. I’ve been advised by some of the group therapists I’ve been to that one should never ask questions of the form “Do you remember….” because it’s embarrassing and can be demeaning. Instead say “We used to love to do x…. birdwatching, boat-riding, whatever.” Well, you didn’t need a lecture, but apparently I needed to give one!
When I was visiting, our SOP was to walk in and say “Hi Mom!” first thing.
I would like to say thanks for mentioning that your mom not knowing who you are comes and goes. We were thinking that might be applicable in this instance as well. Mom finally got out of her new room and ate lunch in the Dining Room last Friday, so we think she might have been overstimulated by the experience. She had been taking all her meals in her room.
That makes sense, especially if she knew who you were just last Tuesday.
So hard though!
Late update: I spoke with my brother earlier tonight, and he said that Mom recognized him right away during his visit this afternoon.

Fiori di Capri, which is beachy to me, but not Hawaiian. I know I have lots of Hawaiian-reminiscent scents somewhere.
Our AC doesn’t seem to work terribly well, which is disappointing. And our living room ceiling fan is going the wrong way to cool things down. I cannot figure how to switch directions…what the manual says to do isn’t working. Irritating.
