It's 'With A Little Help from My Friends' Friday! Our community project for today: wear a perfume that you received from someone else, either here at Now Smell This or elsewhere, or that you never would have tried if someone else hadn't recommended it, or worn it, or reviewed it. Thanks go to Jalapeno for the idea!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm thumbing my nose at the rain in Parfum d'Empire Azemour Les Orangers, yet another generous gift from a reader.
Reminder: on 6/11, for King Kamehameha I Day, wear a tropical or beachy floral. Bonus points if your fragrance includes at least one floral or fruit note native to Hawaii. (Native in modern times, that is, given that many of the flowers and fruits we associate with Hawaii were brought from elsewhere.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning and TGIF!
SOTD is Mon Parfum Gold by M. Micallef.
I received this as a birthday present from my best friend who was living in Europe at the time. I have heard of the brand but never seen it in person so I was very thrilled. The bottle was even engraved so it was extra special!
It smells very lush and warm which I enjoy so it ticked all the right boxes and then some. 😀
What a great present!
You reminded me (after someone else did not too long ago), that I need to open the rest of my M.Micalef Advent calendar!
I’m in Neela Vermeire Mohur, a gorgeous dusty rose. I’m crazy for roses anyway, so I was bound to like this, but it’s really something: the name crops up all the time in the daily wear, but I’d never smelled it until I got a decant from my first-ever swapmeet swap last month with Gi, along with a few other nifty bonuses.
I am surprised you had not smelled it! I wonder if she is planning more…
I have been doing this for decades but the list of things I have never smelled is *much* longer than the list of things I have. Especially nowadays, when there are a thousand or more things launched a year. I can’t keep up!
Well, ditto!
Are you wearing the extrait or the EDP? I love the extrait, I was given a small decant of it years ago and that was enough for me to finally decide I needed a bottle. Anyway you smell gorgeous, although I would not describe Mohur as dusty myself, I do think of Une rose nacrée du désert as dusty. Not that that matters at all.
You smell wonderful!
I also ended up falling in love (with the extrait version) and buying a bottle after getting a small decant from Hajusuuri some years ago.
Wearing CdG Jaisalmer, a bottle I received from ElisaP, a while ago in a swap. Even though she liked it, she was not reaching for it often and she knew I was going to wear it more often, which I do. I miss her and hope everything is fine with her.
Happy Friday! ?
I hope she is well too. It has been a very long time.
Incense scents are a good pick for today’s weather.
I see myself wearing light incense perfumes on the heat wave that starts tomorrow ??.
Yeah that weather forecast is disgusting!
Paris-Deauville from the splitmeet! Received it yesterday, and just in time, as our temperatures are soaring. (Ugh.) It has a bright, limey note that reminds me of Old Spice (and of a different fragrance I have owned but cannot pin down). I see this one being thunked by summer’s end.
Honestly, at least 3/4 of my decants and FBs are things I would not have sought out had they not been mentioned here. All of you have expanded my perfume horizons — they now feel boundless!
Same here — I can’t even begin to count the fragrances I would not have heard of.
So happy it’s FriYay! I’ve been wearing NST gifts all week. Yesterday it was gorgeous vintage Coco parfum – wow, absolutely wonderful. Today will be PG Bois Blond. Tomorrow, Mx. again – I can’t get enough of it. Hugs and many thanks to all my lovely gifters!
You have also been a lovely gifter many times over, springpansy ? have a wonderful weekend.
😀 thanks. It’s so much fun to share the perfume love!
There are so many scents to choose from for the Community Project, because I’ve found that perfume peeps tend to be wildly generous when it comes to sharing scent. Today I’m going with Parfums Delrae Bois de Paradis, a bottle of which was gifted to me a few years back (Sharon, if you’re out there, I think of you every time I wear this). It’s one of the scents I came across relatively early in my perfume journey, and I can still remember how amazed I was when I first smelled its complexity, richness, and beauty. I don’t recall the exact path by which I first came across it, but I do know that today I’m wearing what little I have left because of the generosity of a woman I’ve never met, but who nonetheless sent me her bottle of perfume simply because she understood exactly how much I would enjoy it.
That is a gorgeous fragrance, and especially special now that the line is discontinued –all the more valuable for the lovely generosity of the sender. I agree that perfume peeps are wildly generous!
Adding that I’ve always wished I had splurged and bought the Bois de Paradis body cream. It was equally wonderful.
I never tried the body cream, but I bet it was marvelous. I rarely manage to stock up on perfumes that I love prior to discontinuation, and I didn’t manage it in this instance. I find comfort in knowing that I have enough other great perfume to last my lifetime, though. 🙂
Perfume people are the best! You smell utterly wonderful!
Lisa D, please accept my belated condolences on losing Otto Mi Gato. I smiled every time you posted something about him. Hugs.
Thanks, Jalapeno. He was a good kitty, and we were stupidly obsessed with each other. We used to do this call and response thing, where he’d be on the first floor and he’d yowl “Herrro?” at me, I’d be on the second floor and would respond with “Hello?” and we’d go back and forth for several minutes. The house is very quiet without him.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. ?
Lisa D., I’m adding my belated condolences to those of Jalapeno on the loss of your beloved furbaby. Sending ???your way and hoping that, in time, warm memories will comfort your heart and soften your loss.
Laila, thank you. My heart will ease in time, I know.
My condolences also. I’m so sorry.
Thanks, lillyjo, I appreciate it.
I have so many fragrances I have discovered through the NST community! I am forever grateful! Besides perfumes I can also thank this community for books, shows and recipe sharing…
Today its Love Extreme, again and the enabler pin goes to Hajusuuri for having me seek out a FB after hosting a split.
Still dragging today. I think its this humid weather..the air feels so think. I could hardly exercise and I am waiting for the rain to just break this weather!
Off to make more coffee..
Joining you with another cup of espresso! And you smell lovely. 🙂
I was tempted to wear this too! You smell wonderful!
I got a sample of Bee Bliss from one of the most generous people in this community, Hajusuuri. It has now become one of my favourite scents.
Also, someone recommended a book here which is just wonderful.
A big thank you to this community!!!
The book and film recs are priceless!
Seconding (thirding?) the thumbs up on the book/film/media recs. I’ve been watching Call My Agent based on recs here, and it’s great! This community has excellent taste.
The pleasure was all mine meeting you!
Tiffanie here nicely sent me several large samples. I loved the Berdoues Vanira Moorea and got the full bottle. I can actually smell all the notes individually. Should get more love.
Pretty bottle, too!
yay! all aboard the Vanira Moorea love train. 😀 You smell wonderful.
I’ve discovered too many perfumes
that I never heard of let alone tried from NST and Perfume Posse. I am going to be facing the hoards of people at work a little later since it’s Donut Day. Wore Pleasures earlier and now in Les Annees BIS. I was considering Coromandel but wasn’t willing to have it ruined by work.
I love Pleasures, I think it’s an underrated gem. I remember when it was first released, how unusual it was. Pleasures, CK One, and AV by Adrienne Vittadini were all released around the same time period 1994/1995, ushering in a new era of clean, transparent, floral perfumes. I wasn’t a fan at first, but eventually it won me over.
It is underrated but a great scent.
I love Pleasures and bought a bottle to bring back some 90s memories. Ended up giving it to my mother, who loves it – sometimes I can smell it as soon as I walk in her door 🙂
I’m not who enjoys wearing floral scents yet Pleasures is one I really enjoy. Wore it a lot in May and love its lilac note.
Happy Friday everyone! My SOTD is Killian’s Good Girl Gone Bad – a gift from Carlos Powell of Brooklyn Fragrance Lover. I love this beautiful narcissus and tuberose perfume, it’ll bloom nicely in today’s heat. 🙂
SmokeyToes loves the new couch. He won’t get his keister off of it. I guess we made a good purchase for his enjoyment. ?
I ran the 22 flights of stairs twice yesterday. Once for my dentist, the other for the eye doctor. Mission accomplished!
ST, you are amazing with your exercise. I do a great online yoga class every Friday morning and today was HARD. But I thought of you and powered through. Feelin’ good now!
(P.S. You also smell wonderful!)
SP~sweet! Glad I could halp! Is it a local yoga studio or on Youtube? I found a few and have them in a ‘saved’ folder.
This one is an amazing teacher through the University of Washington. She is in Rome and teaches from there live but for us it’s only 7 a.m.!
ST, we are twins today.
Inspired by LTSG, I searched for it in the swapmeet and received a sample from Nancyleandros. It’s lovely.
Also, if I remember correctly, you mentioned loving The Paris Library some time ago. I am currently reading it and I enjoy it very much. Thank you for the recommendation!
Lovely! I always wanted a twin! Well, as a Gemini – I certainly am…. 😉
Yes, I loved that book! I’m glad you’re enjoying it. Common theme among friends is too many books, not enough time to read them all! And the list always grows larger.
Wow, that is some very serious stair running. Good for you.
Thanks Robin! I felt a little less tired this time around. I hope my fitness is improving. 🙂
Well I should think so! You’re fitter than I am, that’s for sure.
I am wearing Afrodite by Tiziana Terenzi. I got super-excited about this and thought it would be The Ultimate Lilac and was considering to blind buy. Thankfully, a wonderful perfumista from Germany sold a decant for a very friendly price. After wearing it for ten hours I realise I like it but that’s it. I saved about 300€ by buying that decant?
Victoria: if you read this, thank you once again?
… now that’s what I really call some serious help 😉 !
Yay!
In honour of all those who were prepared to part with a bit of their treasures and thereby allowed me to experience some of the classics in their earlier (albeit, I suppose, still not their original) formulation, even though I became interested in perfume long after IFRA became involved, I chose vintage Miss Dior from a small sample I received a couple of years ago.
Vintage Miss Dior is lovely.
Nice pick!
Vintage Miss Dior is in my top 5, been wearing it since I was a teen. ❤️ that oakmoss!
I am now possession of a huge bottle of one of the Turkish kolonyas mentioned in that BBC article I posted last weekend and Monday (or was it Tuesday???).
It smells good! Really amazingly complex for something so cheap, or really at any price.
You can find them on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Eyup+Sabri+Tuncer&ref=bl_dp_s_web_15270720011
(And also ebay.)
Next I’m planning to order some of the individually wrapped refreshing towelettes to carry on the go, a custom I enjoyed overseas. ?
Ooooo – love the towelette idea, too.
Which one did you get? I can’t tell from the Amazon link.
I got the olive blossom from this shop:
https://www.ebay.com/str/roxbeauty/Fragrance/_i.html?_storecat=33901737018
I have no idea what olive blossoms are supposed to smell like. This smells like cologne but isn’t strongly citrusy or orange blossomy — a bit floral, a bit herbal-woody, a bit on the masculine side.
In the hot, humid, DC area, olive blossom would be better for fall than summer. I’ve ordered some of the towelettes from Amazon in the classic lemon cologne scent.
Oooh, thanks for the link, I had not seen your earlier post. I loved that lemon cologne that they would bring around on the long distance busses when I was visiting Turkey. I am fortunate to have recently ( a couple of years ago) bought some cheap and cheerful moisturizer/body wash/shampoo that smell just like the lemon kolonya, and ma still working on using them up. But when they’re done, it’s good to know where to get some more.
Vert de Fleur, which someone on the parfumo website sent me as an extra. If it wasn’t so expensive, I would love a bottle, because it smells just like a florists shop.
You’ve made me want to try it again!
I’m in Lipstick Rose. A helpful NSTer sent me a sample along with a large sample bottle of En Passant that I’d taken her up on. I tried Lipstick Rose early on in my perfume journey and just hated it because I thought it smelled like my fussy old grandmother’s pink bathroom with all the doily doll toilet paper covers and dusting powder. (Growing up I much preferred my other set of grandparents who had a farm and no time for fussiness or pink-tiled bathrooms.)
I came around when I tried the sample again, many years later. 🙂
But, like others, I’ve found so many perfumes through NST…I could have chosen many from my drawer!
I have the same story with Lipstick Rose! Initially, I thought it was far too sweet and suffocating, but as I smelled other less-sweet violet scents, I learned to like it in LR. You smell lovely!
I remember shen I tried Lipstick Rose and loved every drop of my decant. It wasn’t a FB because back then I didn’t appreciate the good ol’ rose. I just didn’t want to invest in a rose fragrance!! I was too busy discovering all the “unusual” figs, irises and ouds.
I am in gorgeous Miyako sent to me by very generous 50_Roses. I have been looking for 50_Roses comments on here, would like to thank her one more time!!
Miyako is an undoubtedly beautiful perfume. It has that timeless classic appeal and smells like “the good stuff” meaning a classic. In that way it resembles some of the Chanels, in the fast it has a bit of that retro-elegant feel. Actually it resembles Mitsouko even more. Plus the notes list peach – and indeed it has that early 20th century peach accent. It is a true gem and I recommend for fellow perfumistas to try it out!!
That’s by Auphorie, for anyone else who was curious 🙂
Hey All, It’s late here and I’m off to bed in a cloud of Mure et Musc Extreme by L’Artisan. It had never even entered my mind to try it, though I’d read and heard about it often.
When Michael Edwards was downsizing his collection, after no museum or institution would accept it, this is one of the bottles I got. It’s nice to wear Mure et Musc and think of what a generous, lovely man he is.
Portia xx
You have friends in high perfume places!
Yes I was thinking the same following a google search:)
Hopefully friends in all the perfume places Hajusuuri.
Wow! What a great perfume acquisition story!
Hey Jalapeño!
There are a few bottles from that day. They are made especially special because of it.
Portia x
Happy Friday to all of you generous NSTers! Thank you for welcoming me into this incredible community.
Sotd is IUNX Talc from a recent FB purchase that was inspired by Sapphire who found Rendez Vous and shared it. I love the scent and the bottle itself is a new favorite. Thank you Sapphire!
You smell wonderful!
Thank you! And I believe you were involved/implicated in the inspiration with your amazing IG photos of the bottle…:)
I LOVE Talc — you smell fabulous!
SOTD Chinese Oud. I totally credit Kafkaesque blog for opening my eyes to ouds – I would have never found a courage to explore them myself
Is that the one by Areej le Dore? I also credit her for introducing me to that brand. Real oud is expensive, and you need a trusted guide to find the ones that are worth it.
Yes that’s the one. Oud and real deer musk – I do not think I would have been brave enough to explore on my own
I’m in the ultimate gift, a few sprays of Parfums DelRae Bois de Paradis, decanted and sent by Undina when I lamented here that I had never bought a bottle. I am so grateful! I have noticed it’s starting to evaporate, though, so I need to stop hoarding and keep enjoying.
Thanks to all who have also contributed great perfume ideas, splits, and freebies. I’ve found so many delights through you.
Bois de Paradis is so beautiful, such a shame Parfums DelRae no longer exists.
Such a shame. It’s beautiful stuff.
Scent twins! You smell amazing.
Right back at you!
That house closed for good. It was sad news for many, I am sure as I unfortunately never got the opportunity to try anything from DelRae.
Wearing the golden orange blossom duo of Cap néroli and Néroli intense. They play so well together, as much as I don’t often layer perfume, these two are invariably worn together. Not really in line with the CP, although I probably first found out about them on here.
Oh Cap Neroli layered with Neroli Intense? WOWZERS! You smell AMAZING!
I like to think I do ?
Twins with you Robin! You didn’t literally give me the bottle, but your love for it turned me on to Azemour. And I adore it.
You smell fabulous in a fabulous fragrance!
Oh yay, I’m so glad to have a twin today!
I could have grabbed a bottle with my eyes closed this morning and most likely had it be something I discovered or sought out due to this wonderful community! I also chose Azemour, which I purchased blind through a past split meet based on Robin’s singing of its praises (so, double points?). It’s such a beauty, and basically serves as the Little Black Dress of my summer fragrances — always good, always uplifting, always elegant, goes with everything.
Hooray, we are triplets then!
I’m wearing Theorema. I’d never heard of the stuff before NST but everyone praising it created a huge lemming. I bought it unsniffed when BE sold old stock that I think had not been sold retail because the bottles weren’t fully filled.
Theorema is a phenomenally awesome perfume and you smell good!
I bought Theorema unsniffed, too — so much love for it here that it *had* to be wonderful, and it is!
Same.
SOTD = Dame Perfumery Desert Rose
Credit me for the CP and another one for perfumelover67! Our split turned into a swap!

In other news…serious decanting will happen today. I also received the Ambre Sultan earlier this week. I had ordered but have not yet received another device to help in decanting. It looks like a syringe without the needle. I’ll post about it if it works!
Question for those using the syringe method – how do you dispose of the used ones? I know the body part can be trashed but how about the needle part? The needle part is not sharp so maybe I am fretting over nothing? I would never remember to bring it to a medical facility and it would be the last thing on my mind to bring it to an airport (2022!).
Hi Hajusuuri – I don’t know about the needle but I used the syringe method (sans needle) when I decanted for the POTL split. It worked like a charm – so much easier and less wasteful than my old way of just spraying and spraying.
Ha! I did not even think to not use the needle. I will experiment! Thanks.
Keep us informed!
And the capital H in my post, obviously refers to you.?
I watched a couple of YouTube videos for the how-to. You can stretch out the bottom of the syringe a bit if needed to go over the “spray tube” of the bottle once you remove the nozzle, and then you just pump –the syringe also measures for you. Anyway it worked great!
You smell great! Enjoy!
Love the stories of sharing and passing the love around from all you. I disappear in and out of here from time to time but you’ve all been so lovely and generous.
Speaking of which, I’m wearing Chris Collins Tokyo Blue from a sample I received from an NSTer in a giant box of samples I have still not worn my way totally through. It doesn’t smell “blue” to me, but I kind of like it…it’s just a little masc on me. I’ll see if hubs likes it.
It’s nice to have a giant box of samples in reserve though, isn’t it? It’s there when you need it 🙂
A local perfume pal passed along the rest of her bottle Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue so I am wearing a sprit of that on one hand and one of L’Attesa on the other, which I heard of over here (of course).
Wow! You smell amazing in beautiful irises!
Thank you to NST for exposing me to so many great scents, tv shows, recipes, and even skin care! I just bought some Hado Labo essence and cream that someone mentioned last week, I’m sorry I can’t remember who it was.
I’m wearing box of eels, discovered through a swap on makeupalley almost two decades ago. I still have a tiny bit of that original decant but have since added on two other concentrations/bottles. ?
Box of Eels ?!?! Does that really exist as a scent? Anyway, it’s either the most wonderfully weird perfume name or the most hilarious autocorrect result I’ve come across in ages.
If I remember right someone’s husband misheard or mispronounced Bois des Isles
?
The shared vocab/jokes/references are also a generous way of building community spirit.
That’s so true – and thanks to both of you for letting me in on the joke!
Yes, indeed! I wear bois des iles quite often, and quickly learned of its affectionate nickname around here.
Happy Friday!
1) SOTD: Le Lion, from a split by the awesome Hajuusuri! Now that the heat wave has calmed down, a few drops of this is just awesome- a musky vanilla cloud, sparkling, not a hint of sugar anywhere. Perfect.
2) Cleaning up the packaging and such so far, and restaging the IKEA panels and drawer fronts for installation today and tomorrow! Then deconstruction of the island and hopefully the installation of the island cabinets tomorrow as well! I am gonna hold off on tiling until Monday.
You smell wonderful!
I participated in H’s Le Lion split as well and the perfume was instant love for me. I ordered a bottle as soon as it became available. Had it been 30 degrees cooler I would have worn it today.
And is the new worker still helping? Who is doing the tiling?
Late to this!
Yes, the new worker is still helping! All of the cabinets are now assembled BUT he had another job that he booked before helping me- so he is doing that and will be back on Monday to continue the process. In 2 1/2 days work he has helped me do A LOT, and I am back on schedule for when I think I will be using the kitchen again.
I will be doing the tiling since union tile setters are booked UP and it should be similar to when I laid the tile in the bathroom.
Wearing Rose Rebelle Respawn. I am reminded of hanging out with LizzieB and IHadanIdea at Twisted Lily and comparing how this reacted for each of our skin chemistries
That’s something I’ve really missed during the pandemic, plus the second opinions on which smells best on my own skin really help with deciding what to purchase.
Wearing 4160 Tuesdays Waft from the Loft again, got turned on to this brand by the UK fans over on Basenotes. Happy Friday!
Happy Friday cazaubon!
That name makes me smile 😀 rhymes are like candy for my brain.
I’ve not visited Basenotes in quite a while, time to remedy that!
I’m in VCA Neroli Amara from a generous nster. Two sprays 7 hours ago and I am still getting lovely wafts now and then.
It’s Friday but today is my Wednesday because it’s my weekend to work.☹️
Neroli Amara is so lovely! I wish I had picked it up when it was available at the discounters.
It is! I’ve only tried 3 from VCA, but I’ve liked them all. I do think I like Guerlain Nerolia Bianca better though.
Ooh, I’ll have to try Neroli Bianca when I get the chance. Have you tried Neroli Outrenoir? I’ve seen Neroli Amara compared to that one as well, but I don’t really remember a tea note in Amara, whereas I do pick that up in Neroli Outrenoir.
Working twins!, it’s going to be gross humidity here.
Yeah, we are supposed to be 90 tomorrow and Sunday so maybe I’ll be glad to be at work and in the a/c. The weatherman said it would be dry heat though, must be Lake Michigan bringing you that gross humidity.?
Wearing L’Heure Fougeuse today, which has come to me TWICE because of NST. The first time might have been a freebie, or a swap, or a blind split–l can’t even remember anymore. And I loved it and used up whatever the amount was. And hesitated on buying a bottle because of cost and all the other stuff I have. Then recently Katsura did a split of this, and I got to participate and it is love all over again.
Although I don’t post or read every day, this community has consistently contributed positively to my life and overall internet experience. Thank you, NSTers, for being awesome! Thank you, Robin, for hosting such a place!
“love all over again” could be the tagline for NST! 😉
I’ve spent so much time online for work this past year. My eyes got so tired. I could sometimes barely focus my eyes on a screen long enough to read only three or four comments, but I always think of NSTers when I look into my perfume cupboard. I’m on summer hiatus starting today, so I hope to get back to NST on the daily!
🙂
Wearing Nicolaï Juste un Rêve thanks to generous Scentspirit who kindly offered sample when I was planning to visit the Nicolaï boutique in Paris this spring to purchase it. My trip got postponed as France is on the UK Amber list still but I have the pleasure of experiencing the perfume anyway.
Juste in rêve is lovely, I hope you will be able to visit one the Nicolaï boutiques soon!
Thank you, I hope so too and I know you miss travelling to France as well.
SotD is JM Wood Sage and Sea Salt, a gift from my lovely mil.
WS&S is a lovely perfume! 😀 You smell wonderful.
Perfume people are so generous and wonderful. From the old Makeupalley days of swapping and RAOKs to NST when I read about it in Allure in what, 2005? And Perfume Posse and CaFleurebon of old etc etc. Anyway, there’s a lot of generous people to be grateful for. I’ve learned so much along the way.
Wearing Angel Liqueur on this hot day thanks to the generosity of lillyjo the first part of this year, when covid was still very grim and we had a ton of snow. Wearing it makes me feel like a million dollars, thanks again.?
I’m so happy that it makes you feel fantastic!?
I miss the old swapping days on MUA!
Me too!
I agree with all these comments about the generosity of perfume people. Post shower, I will wear Lumière from Aftelier. It us one if the huge number of samples from Scentspirit last year. That was such an amazing gift! I passed most of them on to Kanuka, but I couldn’t let go of Lumière.
Like all of you, I’m wondering how Kanuka is and hoping her treatment is going well. I haven’t heard from her for some time.
Ditto on Kanuka, I hope she is doing well with her treatment.
Me three.
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/UJz2VHvVHw8
Back home, and I’m exhausted. I was too tired to post when I got in yesterday afternoon. The crazy story of my trip will have to wait for a bit. ??
SOTD = Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic EdT, from the most generous Hajusuuri. It worked a treat with today’s yucky muggy weather and the wild afternoon thunderstorms. ⚡
I love traveling, but it’s always so nice to be home.?
Unfortunately, the reason for my trip was a family emergency, so it wasn’t much fun. Still dealing with fallout from that.
I’m really sorry Jalapeño. I hope things get better soon.☺️
Oh, I’m sorry to hear this. I hope you’re doing alright and can feel rested and reasonably settled very soon!
Welcome back jalapeño.
Great song!
Thanks lillyjo! ??
Glad you made it back home and that your perfume was an antidote to the day. (Wish we got more thunderstorms here; I miss them)
I’d be more than happy to send you the ones I’ve been getting lately! ?
Glad to see you back!
Glad to be back, and done with airports for the time being. I have this sinking feeling that I might be back in some sooner than I’d like.
I am not surprised that you’re too tired to tell the story, but do tell us eventually! I realized after I started this CP that you might not be here to enjoy it.
I was able to do some lurking in the midst of all the crazy. Still lots of stuff up in the air.
So sorry, I hope the situation with your mother has improved and that you can get some rest.
Thank you for a wonderful CP.
Wearing a mish-mash of scents all somehow related to the fun splits, swaps and ongoing generosity of those in the fragrance community. From Yasmina, Oilette Bengal (gorgeous carnation-lasts forever on me), H?-dregs of Orris Tattoo( in two different carts, as we speak), PL67-Iris Syracuse. Another FBW. PL67, in addition to Antonia at Tigerlily, both inspired me to try and buy Kulfi. Love.
MakeupAlley was a great place, as well.
Thank you to all who have made such a positive impact on my life.
Hope you have pressed buy on one of those carts by now!
Wearing a few precious drops from my dwindling vial of ylang ylang oil, and blessing a lovely perfume lover whose name I can’t remember now. We were arranging a swap and had chatted about the best ylang oil coming from Nosy Be in Madagascar. And she had actually been there and sent me a tiny vial! ❤️
It certainly is cheering up a dank day on the northeast coast.
Nice to see you around lately AnnE!
Thank you, lillyjo! It’s always nice to see you, too. ☺️
The smell of ylang is so cheerful and sunny!
I used to hate the smell of Aveda hair products, but now I open the bottle just to smell that bit of ylang.
☀️???
I’m wearing Memo Tiger’s Nest which I got from a split here awhile back after reading about all the excitement over it. I do like it a lot but it’s just almost a straight amber perfume for me. I don’t get the cedar, tolu balsam, frankincense, or anything much else. We’re having more rainy weather, and it’s quite gray; the only good thing is that it’s cooler than it has been lately, making this amber outing a pleasant one. Have a good weekend, folks.
Calypso, I wanted to tell you that the Asa Larson series got me hooked on Scandinavian murder mysteries. I just picked up Eva’s Eye by Karin Fossum at the library. I hope I like it because it looks like there’s several in the series. Should keep me occupied for awhile!?
Echoing the thought that so much I’ve either received or heard of from our dear NST. ❤️
I chose Pichola today: this was the prize from my happiest day ever…the win on Le Prix Eau Faux. That was so much fun, though I’ve always secretly worried I ruined it somehow since I don’t think we ever did another one.
LOL — of course you did not ruin it! Life ruined it…I just don’t spend as much time on NST as I used to, and that contest was surprisingly time consuming. But it was fun, and so glad you are still enjoying the Pichola, it is still my favorite NV.
A beautiful summer-weather week has had me so busy I almost forgot what day it was today- trying to ‘summerize’ the inside of the house, finish planting the herb garden, constantly water what was already planted because ‘no rain,’ and today we lugged all the house plants outside to summer. I’m pooped!
Joining you all in today’s cp in a fragrance I haven’t worn in a long time, vintage NR L’Air du Temps. I have not one but two bottles that were given to me many years ago by two different people. The first by one of my favorite bosses whom I still see once a year at an annual meeting. The second bottle I received from a dear friend for a milestone birthday whom I’ve sadly lost touch with. It’s not a fragrance I would’ve purchased for myself and I don’t wear it often, not being a floral or carnation scent lover, but it’s a nice change for me and reawakens warm memories of times spent with two special people ❤️.
Taking a break from all chores this weekend – going to my first White Sox game of the year tomorrow and then out for dinner on the patio with friends on Sunday to a favorite Greek restaurant. Hope you all have some fun planned for a great weekend ahead!
Enjoy both the baseball game and the Greek food! Opa!
Enjoy the game! I can’t wish the Sox good luck though because they are playing my team!
You smell wonderful! I went through a few bottles of LdT years ago. My bestie from high school introduced me to it; she got me a bottle when she went to Spain; I think she got it from the airline back then!
Enjoy your weekend; it sounds great!
I wore Le Labo Labdanum 18 today, from the recent swapmeet. Thanks Millicent! I’m enjoying the powdery musk. I’ve gotten lots of great things from NSTers, fragrance-wise, recommendations-wise, and other. Thanks everyone! Now I’ll catch up on the comments.
Sometime the “other” is the best part 🙂
It’s been a hectic week for me, of good and bad both.
I owe at least half of my perfume collection to generous nsters, so I had a lot to choose from today. I went with the beautiful Angelique Noire that I was able to smell because of Hajusuuri. Funny story… when I was brand new to NST, I was unfamiliar with No. 19, and Hajusuuri offered to send me a sample. I couldn’t believe it!, but I was too nervous and shy to email. Some time went by, and she offered again. Well, I told myself that I had to get over my shyness and email her, because now it would be rude not to. (I’m alot of things, but never rude, lol) anyway I got to try No. 19 and ended up getting my own bottle and I have tried to share it whenever I can. I’m also way better at interacting and emailing!
Glad to hear that you had some good to offset the bad in your week. And late congrats to your daughter on her graduation! ????
Thanks! That was the good!
What lillyjo said! The first time an NST’er offered me a sample, I was SO nervous and shy!! But I broke the ice through Swapmeet because I felt like I needed to offer something first. Now I love to “pay it forward” to my wonderful NST friends. Scent of the day Chanel No. 5: I was gifted a wonderful ’90’s vintage from a friend of 20+ years who realized she had it in the depths of her closet, and knew I was always rattling on about perfume 😀 Happy FriYAY, fragrant friends…will try to read comments….
What a great gift from your friend!
Happy graduation to your daughter!?? How was the ceremony?
It went well! I cried, of course.
Happy graduation to your daughter. I will have to go back through the comments this week as I’ve been hit and miss; mostly miss.
Isn’t Chanel No. 19 amazing?
I missed your comment about your daughter’s graduation. Congratulations to her! I hope you all had a great time! ???
SotD Chanel No. 5. But the real news is our Southern Indiana home is in the Brood X (ten) Cicada area. Did you hear them in the background of President Biden’s Memorial Day address?! They are so loud that my ears were actually ringing after I sat at a traffic light between two rows of big old trees. Walking across our yard reminds me of how Gimli felt in LotR when he had to walk over all those skulls in the Paths of the Dead, LOL. But I like the little guys: it’s the beady red eyes….
Still no sight or sound of Brood X in my area. Maybe they aren’t in NJ?
We don’t get them either (and didn’t last time). I remember them from when I was a kid in Maryland though!
You smell fantastic. I’m queuing up No. 5 for an outing this weekend.
I lived in the northeast US during the last emergence. The noise was unforgettable and the piles of exoskeletons were as deep as fallen leaves in autumn. So strange! 😉
Thanks, tiffanie, you’ll be smelling fabulous, too – and I am surprised some of you other East-coasters are out of the range of them.
SotD = PHI une rose de Kandahar
Tauer perfumes were getting so much NST love back in the days following my return from anosmia. In my memory of that year my perfumed re-birth smells like laddm. 😉
I was always giddy with anticipation when a swap or split package arrived with a Tauer sample shared by an NSTer, and that happened often back then. I’ve not bought a full bottle from Tauer, but one day I will.
I’ve told myself that I’d like a Tauer bottle. Can’t decide between LAdDM or Le Maroc pour Elle, though.
2nd SOTD: a wonderful arrival in my mailbox: a bottle of Tuberoza!! I had been completely craving a deep, exotic, intoxicating floral. I could go for a jasmine soliflore but I prefer my jasmine fresh, as a blooming plant.
Tuberoza is a huge hit for me. Very sweet. I also do pick up “the banana” aspect of it. Lovely gift from myself to myself!!
very nice! 😀 I like white flower perfumes that have “the banana” note.
Yes and this one is so sweet but in such a delicious way. Makes my mouth water even more than many gourmands do.
