I am packing up to head home from the beach. Tea at the moment is Numi Aged Earl Grey. I am not in the mood for any of the fragrances I have with me, so I will wait until I get home and pick something.

Hahahaha I always think that when I come home from work tours – and often Mr. Teebear has done his version of “cleaning”. Which takes my version of cleaning down from 5 days to just 4 ?
I am not meaning to diss on Mr. NST, and if I was on a work tour I am quite sure Mr. NST would do his best to chip in on the housework and maybe even pick up a few stray groceries.
But in this case, when he was only able to join me for the 2 long weekends because he was working the rest of the time while I was laying on the beach, pretty sure no.

I have a few scents going on today. Primarily, Jo Malone Yellow Hibiscus, which was a birthday gift from my sister. With this gift came a few samples, JM Gardenia & Oud and Violet & Amber. I lightly spritzed the latter two. All three are really not me, but I love my sister for giving me the Yellow Hibiscus, so I am wearing it, hoping it grows on me.

From an ancient sample, Isabela Capeto, which opens with a Lutens-esque explosion of pepper and cedar and then turns into an osmanthus scent with a lot of edge to it, sharp vetiver and spices. The bottle makes it clear that it’s meant as a women’s scent but it’s completely genderless and quite wonderful. If it’s still available anywhere in the world, I can’t find any evidence of it: what a shame.

Yes, the red doll with the button face. It bears more than a passing similarity to some Lutens scents but in truth I’d buy it on the spot if I found a bottle. It’s exactly my kind of thing.
If I had ever seen this one (or the white one, isabela capeto 2) in person, I would have been pretty helpless. How can you not want that bottle?

I’m continuing with my beachy scents and today is SOL Cheirosa ‘62 EDP by Sol de Janeiro. Uh, yeah, that’s a mouthful. I’m not familiar with this brand at all. This has notes of pistachio, caramel, jasmine and vanilla. I’ve never been to Brazil and this is probably the closest I’m gonna get. lol. This gets mixed reviews on fragrantica as far as longevity so I’ll see how it goes for me. I did spray hajusuuri style.? So far, I like it. It does smell beachy but it veers on the edge of sweet and on a hot and humid day it might feel syrupy and sickly. I guess I need to try this brand’s bum bum cream.
During my online schooling, something had to give and for me it was housework. Now I’m playing catch up. Yesterday was a deep dive in the kitchen including under appliances and tops and fronts of cabinets. I not necessarily I huge fan of the cleaning process but I love a clean house!
Housework can always wait, but then yeah, you have to catch up! That is what I will be doing the rest of the week…housework & errands & chores.

SOTD: Nuit de Bakelite from a just arrived sample.
My immediate first thought was “Oh, so this what they took Carnal Flower from.”
To me Carnal Flower is a tuberose soliflore where you smell the tuberose and the dirt beneath it. In Nuit de Bakelite you are smelling the dirt on a path through the woods. At first you smell just a tiny hint of tuberose, which is out of sight but somewhere along the path. As you walk along, the tuberose becomes stronger but is always buried beneath the dirt.
This one has always seemed polarizing. Is it like, love or ?
I received a sample of this as an extra in a split with a generous NSTer. After seeing your comment I gave it a spritz. This is not my scent. Not at all. I’m impressed with anyone who can carry this off.

After the stinkfest of Monday and finding I have a small cavity, it is omnia amytheste on my glove and Iris saffron Korres on my arm. Earthy and airy and none of that hideous 90s aquatic note. Whoever thought of that deserves to wear it in isolation as punishment.

Thanks Robin. It’s just a tiny one, probably won’t need any Novocain. It’s more of a precavity so it’s not bad. Not as bad as that awful Halloween perfume! I’m still mad at how awful it was! I had such a great blind buy track record. Same with not having cavities. Should have gone to the body shop. They have great body sprays. I have some pink pepper lychee on now.
Oh and I’m having Hibiscus tea. The cheap stuff, from Badia.

Wearing Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache, which is more like a pacific northwest vacation than a beach one, but I prefer the PNW so this works for me. A forest hike, but while eating strawberries and cream. 🙂 My brain is inserting a chocolate note, but I think it is just an association with the strawberry and vanilla notes – the chocolate needs to be in there to round out the neapolitan ice cream. The opening reminds me of Soul of Forest, but not the dry down. Same thing happened with Forest Lungs last week. I think I’m just desperate for a FB of SotF.

Oh, you’re right! I dabbed on some Diva from a mini, and Diva is a bit greener, but they definitely are in the same family.
Ella is beautiful, I still have a sample of it somewhere.
It is very pretty. For me, I’m not sure if it’s love or just like a lot. I’d swap for it though, for sure.

Sampling two from Kayali today: Elixir 11 and Citrus 08. Elixir 11 notes are Red Apple, Rose de Mai Absolute, Jasmine Sambac Absolute, Patchouli, Vanilla. Citrus 08 notes are Bergamot, Pink Grapefruit, Rose Centifolia, Musk, Oakmoss.
I am preferring the latter which is a nice sharp floral citrus that is also sweet somehow.

Summer has fled the scene here. Cool and rainy, and I’m in Carthusia 1681 for cozy comfort. I mostly get iris, sandalwood and woody spices from it, but the notes per LS are: Tangerine, bergamot, coriander, thyme, rosemary, iris, neroli, lavender, petitgrain, black pepper, sandalwood, cedarwood, frankincense, ambergris, vanilla, musk. Yummy.
And we’re going to be getting in full blown summer before the spring is over. Yuck!
Oh, well, us too – next week is supposed to get into the mid to high 80s. Earlier this week they were predicting the 90s here next week, but they’ve backed off that now. Maybe the forecast for your area will get tamped down a bit too.

My enabler package to my friend finally got delivered ..no idea why it took USPS a week to deliver, in the same state! Lol. I am curious which ones will be favorites. I put in several samples, minis, decants. I have my favorites out of the bunch, specially, Guerlain and Hermes..so I am curious lol. My friend will be smelling good for a while, this I know. All my friend is truly acquainted with is CK, maybe a couple others. So ya..needed enabling haha.
I am kinda in cheap thrill mode lately..a cotton candy body spray which seems to do the trick lol. I can be very fussy with gourmands but this is so yummy. Walmart clearance..8oz bottle for 2.50..Definitely a cheap thrill lol.
I have introduced a friend to so many things. She both curses and loves me for it—definitely a perfumista in the making. I hope your friend finds some new loves!

I haven’t read it yet but I wouldn’t be surprised! At work, a few thousand headsets had to be recalled (literally taken off of people’s desks) when they were just dropped off in preparation for our Return to the office. Why? They could get so hot and literally explode. I don’t think we had an incident.
I’m wearing St. Clair Scents Eve today because I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to wear when I left the house and that one always makes me feel uplifted and “pretty.” We are in about the 13th (?+) day of oppressive gloom and rain, and I’ve had enough! give us our sunshine back please! I almost got trapped by flooded streets yesterday on my way to a doctor’s appointment, and it was scary. Good thing they didn’t take my blood pressure. It seems my arm and shoulder pain indicates that I need a shoulder replacement. No summer vacation for me, folks. I suppose I can dream. Given our hot humid climate, my vacation dreams are always of cool fresh misty spots with birch and pine/blue spruce forests, lake breezes, fresh fried fish, and soft thick green grass. Give me a scent with those and I”ll be happy!

Wearing vintage Coco edt for my wedding anniversary today. We are getting solar panels installed so that’s our gift to each other. Not that exciting but after 37 years, excitement isn’t what I’m looking for lol, just the wonderful comfort of best friends. Maybe we’ll finally go out to eat inside a restaurant this weekend.

I hear three different sounds: a continuous buzz mostly like the annual cicada; a sound that is like the phasers on the original Star Trek, and a sound like the high notes in Tuvan throat singing! Also, *heaps* of shed skins and little beady red eyes everywhere!

I was off yesterday and will be off for sundry Mondays and a Friday in an effort to use up my remaining 2020 vacation by June 30th. I then have to start on my 2021 vacation and personal days and theoretically, I can take off every Monday from now on and still have days left over. OK, I will stop complaining.
Yesterday, I ate out for the first time since March 14, 2020. I don’t count take-out as eating out. My neighbor and I had lunch in outdoor seating. Baby steps!

My usual vacation would normally be of sunscreen only, but no perfume during the day. Here there’s been an uptick of wasps and other flying bugs here so I don’t want to give them a reason to hover and bite when I’m outside. I am bug phobic at the best of times!

I had a lot of small professional setbacks to process last week. Taking 3-4 days to be a slug and feel sorry for myself let me get it out of my system, and put in perspective how much I still have to be grateful for!
