It's Tuesday, and May The Fourth Be With You! Birthdays: Jane Jacobs, Audrey Hepburn. It's the 60th anniversary of the Freedom Rides. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm celebrating Star Wars Day in Comme des Garçons Ouarzazate.
Reminder: 5/7 will be "I really shouldn't have"...wear a fragrance you shouldn't have bought, you shouldn't wear, or shouldn't ? (This project was suggested by Katrina, and I can't find the original comment so I hope I have captured her meaning.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Hand Embroidered Teapot Pin ("For tea lovers! Designed and embroidered with care, these pins (brooches) are the essential accessory for elegance...right up to the black, velvet and foam cushioned box!") is $28 at Beautyhabit.
In Serge Lutens Nuit de Cellophane.
Having coffee with few drops of orange blossom water.
Beautiful warm, sunny day in the 70’s.
Happy Tuesday! ?
That sounds delicious!
?
Oh your coffee drink sounds delightful!
Thank you, Ede! It is very tasty! ☕
I’ve been enjoying my decant of this one!
So glad! It is simple and lovely for springtime.
I want orange blossom water
Very refreshing and I love the nice touch that it adds to drinks and desserts!
Interesting! Will have to try that concoction some time. I’ve been trying dairy free for a couple weeks and I bet it would go very well with coconut creamer. 🙂
I think the combination with coconut creamer will be fantastic, very tasty! I need to try that!
Bet that orange blossom water would be lovely in a green tea! ?
Absolutely! Mom is a tea drinker, and she loves orange blossom water in her tea.
Such a crazy day yesterday so unable to check in; I had worn Tam Dao, and had forgotten how pretty it is. Looking forward to doing absolutely nothing today, except hang out online, get some reading done, and maybe catch a (Star Wars) flick or 2.
May the Fourth Be with You.
I hope you had a great day!
A blast of Old Spice, 1996 spray bottle. I don’t know how this scent became a running joke because it is *sexy as hell*. Spicy carnations and vanilla? How can you go wrong with that? (You can’t.)
You smell fabulous and in fact, you’ve gone so right!
I love Old Spice and I’m rapidly making my way through a bottle of the current “Classic” cologne.
How does it compare? My father wore Old Spice when I was a kid, and I loved it.
I’m not sure that Old Spice itself is a running joke, but the current ads they use to sell it sure are funny.
Jealous you have an old bottle of that one! I keep hoping to encounter it at a second-hand store or estate sale.
I agree with allo, you do smell fabulous. The assistant manager at a restaurant we used to go to (back when that was a thing) wore that, and I was always happy when he’d swing by our table to say hi. Le Sigh…
It’s been such a long time that I’ve smelled Old Spice that I no longer have a scent memory of it.
Old Spice, Polo Green and Draakar Noir are my “male scent” archetypes. Wear one of those (from the 80s -90s) around me and watch me swoon!
Morning.
Wearing TF’s Bitter Peach from a sample vial. Ripe juicy peach with a lot of body. If the price tag was reasonable I would have probably purchased a bottle. Guess I am bitter (pun intended) about the price tag.
Drinking chai tea with a splash of milk.
The TF fragrances sure do have aspirational pricing! I haven’t smelled any that I love enough to buy at that price point. They aren’t BAD, just not enough to justify the extra $$$.
If you like ‘juicy peach’ I like Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey. Beautiful pulpy peach, nectarine and a nice floral dry down.
I have a bottle and yes it’s sooo good!
No interest in a travel spray of Bitter Peach?
If there’s a body lotion, grab it! I have a body lotion of Jasmine Rouge and holy Batman, it is strongly scented!
I am combating early-morning, “don’t wanna work” lethargy with one of my top Executive Lady perfumes: DSH Robe de Zibeline. Had this in a rollerball for over a year, rarely using it, but thanks to a video from Delicious Delights I decanted it with ease and am now wearing it a lot more frequently.
I’m sorry work is not feeling inspiring, N! I hope the RdZ is doing it’s job and making it more tolerable.
Thanks! The sun is out now and things are seeming better no doubt due in part to the RdZ…
No doubt!
Executive Lady (Boss B****) is definitely a perfume sub-genre of mine! If it motivates no one else it usually gets ME going ? hope your Zibeline does the same for you!
Would you mind sharing the decanting video? I too dislike rollerballs, and would love to know how to avoid having any in the future!
It’s How To Decant A Rollerball Perfume Into A Spray at:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFbSeLVj_ts
and just like for Arlene it was super easy and Changed My Life!
I love delicious delights videos!
Thank you! Just added her to my feed!
Indigo from Magnetic Scent–I really shouldn’t keep this but I’m going to. I don’t wear it often but it’s one of the strangest scents I own and I like it’s uniqueness
It’s good to have a few weirdos.
I agree!
Forgot to post yesterday but wore Lyric and still in it this morning. Thinking of testing out Lady Vengeance even though Shalimar is calling my name. May the fourth be with you all!
Nom. Lyric. You smell wonderful!
SOTD is Cosmopolitan Pure Sugar. Maybe this is the scent that I shouldn’t like….the “bottle” is ugly as sin: a pink plastic drink carton. But the juice is a real cheap thrill: strawberry whipped cream 🙂
I am really glad to hear that at least one of that series is a decent cheap thrill!
Back to work today.
Feeling much better but still not fully recovered from the spring cold.
SotD is Winter Palace.
Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better. Sometimes colds just take forever to clear up completely – get lots of rest if you can!
You smell great!
Hello all! My SOTD is Le Labo’s Bergamotte 22 – zippy citrus. I like LL scents, but even the citrus lasts forever.
Coffee consumed, and I’m headed to the gym! Cardio day, not fun but I’ll get it done! My cardio playlist is mostly Disco and Club mixes from the 70’s-90’s.
It’s already 72 degrees, it should be a gorgeous day! Applying a double-coat of SPF 46 (DRMTLGY) and some waterproof SPF (Shiseido) to keep it from dripping into my eyes.
Everyone have a lovely day today!
We are 80 and humid. Would be thrilled with the 80 if not for the humid and the fact that we have no a/c installed yet. Spent part of morning pricing split systems even though we really can’t install a split system. One can dream.
HA, and the original thing I meant to say before I got caught up in my own complaint was that you smell GREAT, one of my favorites, and good luck with the cardio!!
I did 55 minutes of cardio. 20 on the Stair Master and 35 on the bike. Woo! I’m glad that’s done! I got a few “you smell nice comments, which was good as I’m sure I sweated it all off but I guess not! ?
Now time to make cookies for my nurses at UCSF for tomorrow’s hospital visit.
Nice, good for you!
Wearing a cooling spritz of Coriandre to combat a warm muggy day.
This is such a nice summery chypre. And I love the coriander note
I adore Coriandre, such a great summer chypre and very wearable in the summer heat. Years ago, it came in a deodorant, I still have two cans of it.
It’s my birthday and I’ll spray if I want to, spray if I want to! AND it’s sunny at the moment.
I’m in a dab of Lyric for the morning and it’s a should have (it’s only a decant and plenty for me, but I do love it). This is a great cp. Makes me realize both “shouldn’t haves” AND “should haves”. Have a great day, all!
Many happy returns! Have a great day.
Happiest of birthdays, springpansy! ? ? ?
Happy birthday Springpansy! You smell lovely in Lyric. Have fun celebrating and being celebrated today 🙂
Happy Birthday, Springpansy! You smell fantastic! ??
Happy birthday, SP!?
Happy Scented Birthday springpansy! ???? Will you be getting a “Should Have” bottle of Birthday Perfume?
A bottle of Lyric would make an excellent birthday gift. Just saying! 😉
Happy Birthday, springpansy!
Happy birthday, springpansy!
Happy Birthday, Springpansy! I hope you are having cake!
Happiest of bdays to you!
Happy ? Day, springpansy!
(Doesn’t look much like a honeybee, does it? But you get the idea.)
Happy Birthday! Hope you’re having cake that someone else baked, and that you’re being spoiled too?
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
Wishing you the best scented birthday ever! ??
Have a great say. And now I want a decant of Lyric
Happy Birthday!
Many happy returns.
Have a lovely birthday springpansy!
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday! I hope this year brings good health, happiness and unexpected joys.
Thanks, everyone. I am having a really great day. Started with yoga and then mid-morning a colleague came over with homemade scones, whipped cream and strawberries. We took a 2 mile walk and then ate her treat. I heard from several old friends. And in my team meeting, another work colleague used a Zoom filter that turned her into a piece of birthday cake and we all laughed through the whole meeting. Tonight Mr. SP is making dinner and this weekend, we’ll celebrate with our sons. I prefer to think of it as an ongoing birth month. 😀 And why not, I say?
I do need to think about a bottle of perfume as well…
Wow, that sounds like a perfect birthday!
Happy birthday! Home made scones, how delightful! And Strawberries are really sweet and flavorful this year. I hope you enjoyed every bite!
One of my favorite desserts is strawberries over vanilla ice cream with reduced balsamic vinegar. Simple but so flavorful.
Happy birthday a day late! Sounds like you had a great day.
It’s supposed to be sunny and reasonably warm today, so yhe garden is calling my name. SOTM is Paris-Deauville, and I have suddenly realized that I can take CP points because I really shouldn’t have opted for the smaller bottle. ?
Now why on earth didn’t autocorrect fix “yhe”?? It messes with everything else. ?♀️
I dropped by Portland Nursery yesterday early afternoon to pick up a flower basket for a friend, and I was surprised to see the parking lot nearly full! So, you are not alone in your gardening muse.
Lol at your “shouldn’t have”. I have one of those!
I’m home with a wrenched knee, but I was finally able to get into the shower. Today’s fragrance was the first sample I could easily reach, Gucci Guilty Absolute pour femme.
Oh my, the wrenched knee sounds painful! I hope it resolves quickly.
Oh no. I hope it heals quickly. So painful! Rest, elevate, ice!
Hope you feel better soon!
Ouch, get well soon.
Oh dear. Hope it is better soon.
Ow, ow, ow, ow! Sorry to hear about the knee.
I hope you heal quickly. I’m glad you were able to take a shower.
Ouch! I hope your knee feels better soon.
Uh oh, I hope your knee feels better soon!
So sorry about your knee. Knee pain is seriously the worst.
I am somewhat successfully managing stress on multiple fronts with 31 RC EDT today. 😉
My neck is feeling a bit better, my sister’s surgery is tomorrow and there is some significant work drama right now (kind of an understatement).
I finished Pema Chodron’s When Things Fall Apart last night…which I have read a few times but each time is like the first time b/c it is so damn good…the quote I am taking away this time…
“Letting there be room for not knowing is the most important thing of all. When there’s a big disappointment, we don’t know if that’s the end of the story. It may just be the beginning of a great adventure. Life is like that. We don’t know anything. We call something bad; we call it good. But really we just don’t know.”
That is a great quote. *Adds book to reading list.* Sending hugs!
It’s a good read…hope you are having a wonderful birthday!
I hope the drama turns out to be the beginning of all things good!
Thanks, me too…hope springs eternal! 🙂
Best wishes that the drama be juicy but NOT involve you or impact your work!!!
Thanks, teebear! Yes, that is a good motto…May all your drama be juicy but not harmful… 😉
Great quote. Glad your neck is feeling better. Best of luck to your sister.
Thanks, Sapphire!
Glad to hear that you are feeling better physically, but UGH, Boo-Hiss to Work Drama.
Thank you, Jalapeno!
Good luck to your sister tomorrow!
Thank you, lillyjo!
That quote hit me where I needed it. Thank you. I hope your sister’s surgery goes well and that your work drama dissipates.
But mostly, I send you hugs in a hard week.
Big hugs back to you!!! Thank you, sistine!
Sounds like life is handing you a lot right now. Hugs to you as you navigate this week. ?
Hugs to you…thank you, Nancyleandros!
SOTD is OJ Tiare. It is warm and muggy in Portland this morning, so it suits our suddenly tropical weather. Today I am having brunch with friends–all fully vaccinated and we’ll be outside on their deck–and I’m excited to see them and connect. It has been more than half a year since we got together, and we used to do it religiously once a month. Honestly, the isolation is really getting to me. I need to find more ways to safely connect with people.
Oh, and meant to say that I wish I was fancy enough to wear a brooch from time to time, and then I would be tempted by that cute teapot pin. My mother has a wide variety of old costume-jewelry (cut glass, mostly) brooches from her mother, and I love them. But a lady needs a blouse for such things, don’t they? And I’m more of a nerdy t-shirts and tank tops kinda gal.
I’ve added a pin to the hardware on my purse a few times! I’m also a t-shirt kind of person.
I’ve had good success with sticking a brooch on a hat (winter or summer), thus wearing jewelry, casual clothes, AND keeping warm/sun protected all at once.
I like how a cluster of 3 or 5 brooches on a plain black or white cotton tee can dress it up to distract from the fact that you are getting away with wearing a tee. 🙂
I have a brooch of my mom’s that I wear on my jean jacket.
Any concerns with recent restrictions imposed by the governor? I hope the brunch is / was fun!
Thank you, I know it will be a good time!
I don’t understand your question. We’re meeting at their house, not at a restaurant. And it’s a small group of vaccinated adults outside where we can still maintain some distance. I don’t think that any of that goes against the current guidelines. Last I saw, they’re still allowing church services of up to 100 people (25% capacity), so we’re certainly being more cautious than that.
I suppose it’s “complying” with the spirit of it and perhaps there is no enforcement.
https://sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us/DHSForms/Served/le3461.pdf
I wish it was a bit warmer at my end of town – still a bit cloudy/misty/chilly in my back yard, but the clouds are trying to burn off. Should be nice enough outside once cocktail hour rolls around. 😀
Robin, there’s a missing verb in your second paragraph. I think you meant to say “I am wearing….”
Ha, day almost over now but it’s never too late, right? Thank you!
I’m wearing Shanghai Lily today, and planning on learning how to use my cordless impact driver. I am going to compare it to my drill, driving screws and bolts in some scrap wood. I think it might be time for an upgrade.
Oh, that sounds like fun! Hope it went well.
Hi All!
1) SOTD: Gucci Memoire d’une Odeur, which is very much a General Hux scent, all bitter almonds and herbs.
2) Am picking the tiles and hardware now. Whew, the prices! The choices!
Hardware – argh. When we decided our handle-less kitchen cabinets really needed handles, I kept finding “the perfect thing” that seemed cost-effective until I multiplied by how many of them we’d need!
Oof! It’s the multiples that get me!
Today’s “shouldn’t” is 2 tiny half-sprays of Zoologist Hyrax from the sample I’ve been cautiously enjoying for over a year now.
It’s so over-the-top animalic I shouldn’t ever wear it in public as it’s liable to offend, and shouldn’t buy even a travel size bottle! Not only would I never get through it, I would live in terror of it ever breaking and scenting the house for all of eternity.
Did a tiny indoor workout since the weather didn’t receive the memo that it’s May and is obstinately showering, and all of today’s meetings and classes are online, so at least no risk of offending anyone with today’s SOTD.
I was always interested in Hyrax, since I smelled Salome. Any similarities???
I mean, yes and no… It’s not nearly as rounded in the florals, it’s more rose-and-saffron, and the hyraceum is WAY prominent versus the other animalics.
Salome I think is more balanced between the civet and hyraceum.
I would say that both are unisex but Salome leans more feminine to me between the two.
Hello!
I got my second Moderna COVID vaccination shot yesterday. I’m hanging in there. I didn’t get chills, but I think I’m having muscle pains above and beyond the “normal” for me. I plan to just have a quiet day today.
The folks who screened me for the shot asked if I had any respiratory symptoms, and I said, “Well, I’m allergic to pollen.”
They were like, “Oh. Yes, there’s a *lot* of pollen out there.” I reassured them that any respiratory symptoms I had were consistent with the allergies and asthma I’ve had for many years, and that I didn’t have any symptoms that seemed out of the usual for me at this time of year. So they felt comfortable proceeding.
No news for me on the perfume front. I think the only scented thing I’ve been using is baby lotion, especially on my hands. 🙂
On the gardening side, a sweet violet I got a couple of weeks ago and planted right away is blooming now. Of course, we have hundreds or thousands of unscented violets in the yard that are native to here, but I feel like it’s not the same.
Also, the pink lily-of-the-valley started blooming, and I brought a couple of flower stalks of that inside. It smells a lot like Diorissimo. lol!
Happy birthday to the birthday people! The rest of you, have a good rest of the week! 🙂
We have lily-of-the-valley coming up around the neighbourhood, but have never seen a pink one anywhere!
The clump of pink lily-of-the-valley has lived there for a long time. I’m trying to remember where I got it and blanking out. My guesses would be at a local plant sale or by mail order. Robin can tell you that there are a lot of plant sales in this area in May, and I’ve been going to them for many years. 🙂
I have a few pink lily of the valley in my yard that I transplanted from my last house when we moved. I’m hoping they will spread and become numerous!
Fingers crossed! 🙂
Hope that your post-vax side effects stay mild-ish!
Thanks! I’m feeling better than I did last night and earlier today. 🙂
I hope your muscle pains go away soon!
Advil seems to be helping with what would be my “usual” aches and pains. I put an ice pack on my arm where I got the shot, and that helped with that pain.
Glad you don’t have fever, and hope the aches & pains are gone tomorrow!
Thanks! As I said above, Advil is helping. I’m using my nebulizer and inhaler for the allergies/asthma cycle, and Benedryl clears all of my respiratory symptoms up like magic. And then I fall asleep. 🙂 And it occurred to me that the very high humidity might be ramping up arthritis pain. But the over-the-counter NSAIDs really are taking the edge off my assorted aches. And I was able to take it easy today. That helped, too. 🙂
More garden flowers: The irises are starting to bloom. A number of them have buds, and the orris has a few flowers. I picked one. What’s left of the ‘Crimson King’ iris from where I originally dug and divided much of it had a flower open, and that kind of iris has fragrant blooms. I picked that, too.
When I was wandering around the front yard, I kept thinking that something smelled vaguely good to me. The sweet woodruff by the porch is in full bloom (tiny white flowers), and that might have been the generally soft pleasant scent in that area. I’ve heard it can be used to make May wine, but the folks in Germany and other Central European countries would know more about that. 🙂
Have a good night! 🙂
I am wearing Estee Lauder Estee today and drinking my third cup of
cardamom ginger tea.
Oh your tea sounds delicious.
Okay GateGirl, I see your crazy Monday and I raise you: On top of watching a cyclist mow down a woman on the street (who has a disability) and proceed to YELL at her for not getting out of his way, and seeing a dog wandering off leash while I was on my walk and taking myself a mile out of my way trying to catch it to see its tags (did, called owner, dog okay!), but get this; While I was on a Zoom call for work there was a horrendous crash in our kitchen, I could see glass flying through the air two rooms away behind me on my Zoom screen. I jumped up to see what happened. I kid you not. A brown duck was flapping around madly in our kitchen and then living room. I called my son and we shepherded it outside. The duck was fine and flew away. Our kitchen window was shattered, with glass across the entire room all the way into our dining room. I live in Oakland, NOT bloody Vermont! A duck! A duck!
Okay. Okay. So I’m in Dzongkha today. (Did I mention the DUCK!)
Holy crap, what a thing to happen (especially while in a zoom meeting)! Do you have neighbors who keep ducks for the eggs or something? If so, I hope that duck knows its way home.
Nope. There is a small, brackish lake, maybe two miles away, where there are ducks. The lake includes a bird sanctuary, and is a lovely nesting area for ducks! But in all the years we have lived here, the ducks have never ventured anywhere near us. If you want to see the damage, and the culprit: https://www.instagram.com/nerolimyrrh/
Ye gods, what a mess. But at least your insurance adjuster should be amused. 🙂 (PS – love your IG handle.)
He was not. He was a total pill. First he said, “Oh well, it is usually deer.” And then he said, “You are not covered for acts of birds.” He said that in a totally flat voice. Try saying, “You are not covered for acts of birds,” with a straight face! The guy must’ve practiced it!
Total Ben Stein voice, huh?
Oh my goodness! The duck must be giddy with this warm weather we’re having! (Oakland neighbor here :-)) Your bicyclist story sounds like something that happened to my husband; he had a cyclist yell at him for taking his turn at a stop sign–the cyclist then “had to stop.” Oh dear. These guys give the rule-abiding riders among us a bad name.
Gosh. Maybe it was the same guy. I was so shocked that I moved too slowly to respond. You can bet I have been replaying that moment in my head over and over again with what I should have said. The woman was lying on the ground in the street!
As for giddy ducks, I think I have had my fill for life.
OMG! I hope it is the end of it for today! A well deserved rest is needed now!
Winner of the most surreal day award.
Thank you!
Seriously! You can now listen to Mum’s Yesterday Was Dramatic Today Is OK and pretend it was written for you. 🙂
2nd that.
OMG! That sounds like a weird and stressful day!
But one day, when the stress of the duck/glass has worn off, you’ll be able to say “when ducks fly in the kitchen” the same way people say “when pigs fly” and have a whole hysterical backstory.
Seriously.
Wow, a duck! I’ve had sparrows hit a window, but that’s quite a different thing.
No kidding. A sparrow hits the window, its a race between me and the cat to get to it first–me to save it, the cat to—well–you know. When its a duck? Well, now I know: Catch the duck and get it out of the house; Clean up shattered glass in three rooms and outside; Identify and hire a window repair company!
Fabio was once hit in the face with a duck or maybe a small goose riding a roller coaster. I had one fly right in the side of my car driving one day. Ducks don’t GAF.
Fabio having his bird accident is on YouTube somewhere.I found out about it when he was at a local Whole Foods Market promoting a supplement drink.Another customer told me about the accident and that his face seemed to have recovered well.It looked like a very painful incident..
I’m sure it was. Super random.
OMG! Was that lady OK?
Hopefully, the duck you caught and released will tell its buddies to avoid your windows in the future. Hope the window repairs aren’t too hard on your wallet.
Total Ben Stein voice!
She was okay. But she was embarrassed–which just made me even more furious at the cyclist.
Holy crappola. What did the duck do that it kinda went bonkers in your nice suburban home? I’m glad you’re okay but I keep thinking Birds! Birds! But in this case just Duck!!!
But I live in a city! Okay, our house is in a residential neighborhood–but this is Oakland, not the Marin headlands.
Seriously, duck! It was only funny because no one was sitting at the kitchen table when it happened. Geesh! Mutter, mutter, mutter.
Holy bananas, your day was quackers! (I’m sorry, I had to.). My husband was part of an avant-garde theater group in the 90s and he co-wrote a play where the only dialogue was “A what? A duck!” – that’s what I immediately thought of. But I’m glad you were able to wrangle the duck, and I am cussing at that cyclist for being a *!^•*.
I hope tomorrow is completely uneventful.
You would not BELIEVE the puns I have been subjected to in the last 24 hours! Quackers indeed. I feel like I could have had a starring role in your husband’s play. In the realm of related absurd human behavior, I had a good friend in high school who had a pet duck named Quack. Her family decided Quack was too big to keep in their backyard and brought it to our city lake, Lake Merritt, which hosts a bird sanctuary and many ducks. Anyway, when they were about half way home, they decided that they in fact could not part with Quack and that they wanted him back. So her dad turned the van around, and she and her three brothers went down to the lake to collect Quack. How did they look for it? By calling out “Quack!, Quack, Quack!” wherever they found ducks. They attracted quite a lot of attention, but sadly could not confirm that any of the ducks was their erstwhile pet!
I would have had a heart attack.
Yep, me too.
Wow. I thought my Monday was eventful, but you definitely have me beat! I’m so glad no one was in the front of the house when the duck landed! That’s just bizarro. And your insurance guy…Bueller…Bueller…Beuller…
Omg you win the Monday Madness title!
I missed this yesterday. Glad you and the duck are ok. I absolutely hate cleaning up broken glass. Big hugs to you. We used to have birds hit our sliding glass door regularly growing up but never any real damage to the glass or door. Ducks though can be large. ehaeheh 😉 Hope today is smooth and uneventful!
Finally getting settled into our new place! Having a lot of fun picking furniture and decor while there are still boxes everywhere.
Wearing Bruno Acampora Musc. Looking forward to seeing how I like it when it warms up this afternoon.
This is on my list to try, but sadly hard to get
I’m wearing Ormonde Jayne Man for a warm-ish day in the Bay Area. It seems perfect for this in-between spring/summer thing.
Good pick 🙂
Today’s joy–walking outside at lunchtime and seeing a whole bunch of lillies of the valley blooming right near the sidewalk.
Today’s sadness–realizing there was a dead rat right next to them, so I couldn’t just bend down to sniff unless I wanted to get close to the rat.
Wearing Sel de Vetiver and shaking my head…
Reading – yay! Oh noooooooo….
UGH!!
My lotv are blooming too.
Yet another beautiful autumn morning, and we’re supposed to have a mild, dry winter. Next thing, we’ll be worrying about not enough rain.
Thank for all the comments yesterday on my cat’s rescue. She’s still very clingy, and that’s not a bad thing, I’m a sucker for cat affection.
Off to work in Majda Bekkali’s Mon Nom est Rouge. Spicy and warming, but light.
Glad your cat is ok — she must be traumatized!
Second day of vacations started with a gym appointment, luckily all okay, then a haircut. We drove to a large delicatessen supermarket and bought nice food and made fresh sea bream with ginger, garlic and fried asparagus and rice for dinner.
Sadly we cannot travel, because all hotels etc are closed, so we try to do something nice here.
SOTD is Fils de Dieu, because Deva wore it.
Your dinner sounds amazing, and your perfume is one of my favorites!!
Sotd is Parfums DelRae Panache thanks to a generous Springpansy.
I wish this line would come back so I could take out a 2nd mortgage and buy it all!!!
I guess that’s the opposite of our cp this week and I certainly have a few bottles in the “wish I didn’t buy any!” category.
Lol!
Just another manic… Tuesday. Scrambling to get a major work project together by this afternoon’s deadline, and concurrently shepherding my kiddo through kindergarten lessons and finishing up a batch of immune-supporting, symptom-easing, chicken-lime soup. I’m getting my 2nd Covid shot this afternoon, and hoping my need for the soup won’t be too desperate! Wearing Safran Troublant because it’s oh-so-comforting.
Good call on that chicken soup! I definitely needed some after my 2nd shot.
Hope that your side effects are mild!
Congrats on your second shot!
Congrats in the second shot. Gosh, you smell fabulous!
Good thinking with the soup! I hope your side effects are minor.
Fingers crossed for no side effects!
Good old Korres Saffron Iris. I am not allow to buy perfume for one year.
Hey there. Nice to see you back ?
Thanks. I’ve been doing a lot of home improvement and antiquing. I may have to break my perfume law, Korres has another I want.
That is a really nice scent.
It’s just great. Ugly bottle, good grog.
I love nearly all scents with saffron.
This has saffron that goes all day on me. The saffron note never really burns off. Pretty impressive.
Another day, another update on my Mom’s situation.
The MRI didn’t show anything. So the doctors are kind of scratching their heads. There is yet another test scheduled to be done. I don’t know what it is since I didn’t get the info first hand. My Mom could, in theory, be released to a rehab facility but there aren’t any beds available. She’s staying put until something opens up. She seems to be doing OK according to the cousin who has been able to visit.
SOTD = Scentgrrl’s Tilting At Windmills Cologne, from Soivohle. Back to wearing perfume, and something light is just the ticket.
Hope you can go visit her soon. It’s good news about the MRI.
I wish I could, but I am more than halfway across the country from where my Mom is at. I don’t really want to get on an airplane unless I absolutely have to.
And the hospital is limiting visitors to only 2. Since one of my cousins has already been there, if my brother chooses to go (and I think he probably will once he is off shift), then I would not be able to visit.
It is so frustrating not knowing the cause! I hope she is improving nonetheless!
Definitely annoying, for sure. I believe my cousin when he says that my Mom is looking all right, and that they had a good conversation. But I would like to hear my brother’s take when he gets to visit.
I’m glad you are able to enjoy some perfume today.
Thank you lillyjo.
Biggest hugs to you and all of your family.
Medical head scratchers are never a good feeling.
Thanks sistine.
As my brother pointed out in his call today, at least she is somewhere safe and seems to be doing all right. And if something *does* happen, she’s in a good place to be taken care of.
I hope that somehow, the doctors find out something definitive. But as your brother said, she’s in the perfect place to be cared for, at least right now. Take care of yourself! ?
Well, then fingers crossed that the next test tells you something.
Glad she seems to be doing well meantime.
I’ve been AWOL for a bit and so this is the first I’ve seen about your mom’s situation. I hope you’re doing okay — the uncertainty and the distance have to be so stressful. Sending hugs and wishes for health and strength and stability!
It’s rather coolish for May, wearing Au Pays de la Fleur d’oranger Néroli Blanc my favorite ob, now discontinued along with the refreshing cologne, only the intense was kept and is way too sweet.
Tsk, of course they kept the sticky-sweet one. At least you have the one that you like!
Yes, you’re right, typical isn’t it, yes, I chose the one that suited me and with my mania ? even have a BUB, sorry that my fears proved entirely justified.
SOTD = Aedes de Venustas Copal Azur
I forgot I had this travel spray. It’s a safe office scent in my opinion.

I have to get to my taxes tonight! There’s still time but there absolutely no reason why I shouldn’t be mostly done by tomorrow.
I found that one to be on the masculine side for me. I was bummed out.
That’s too bad…there are plenty of perfumes for you to try ?!
You can do it!?
Now, now!
Fraternal twinning with Robin today in CdG’s Kyoto. CdG’s Incense line is two out of two so far for me, and I’m guessing I’ll love the other three just as much. I get wood, juniper/cypress, and some incense, so I’m making it a finalist in my forest & juniper hunt, but I think Zagorsk has a slight edge on it.
Thunked my tin of Kusmi Anastasia tea this morning, and close to thunking a sample bag of Clippership orange spice black tea that is well passed its drink by date. Tea doesn’t really go bad tho, does it? Loses potency maybe, but unless it has oils that go rancid, I see no reason not to drink it. But then I tend to treat all best by dates as suggestions, so maybe don’t go by me 😉
I’ve had tea lose its flavor when it gets really old.
You just reminded me I have to de-stash tea. I kept them in case I drink them but my afternoon tea plans turned to no tea plans.
Oh, I love Anastasia tea! Yum. And Kyoto is so great.
Kyoto is my 2nd favorite 🙂
I adore Kyoto! I haven’t sniffed beyond Kyoto and Avignon and they were both instant full-bottle purchases for me — I guess I’m scared to smell the rest!
I was late for work this morning so I sprayed from the purse stash. E’lixer des Merveilles.
One of my cashiers called me over today to complain about a customers perfume. I sniffed the air and said oh that’s White Diamonds! I was thrilled to recognize it. Cashier says omg why is she wearing so much?! Lol.
Smelled good to me.
I have negative associations with with White Diamonds from an absolute terror who used to supervise me. I wonder if your co-worker felt the same way?
Isn’t it fun to recognize a perfume “Out in the Wild”?
You sniffing genius ?
LOL!
I wore KKW Desert Rose layered on top of Child. I was a white flower explosion- maybe I shouldn’t have? But darn. I smelled purdy.
Smelling purdy isn’t cause for regret!
Hi, everyone!! My Zoologist package arrived 3 days earlier than it’s estimated delivery day… Yaaayy!! I ordered a Squid perfume, but I also included a Squid sample so I can actually test it first… And as usual for me I have to give myself credit for “studying” about a fragrance online (list of notes, story behind the perfume, people’s reviews etc.) I spritzed a tiny spray on my wrist and immediately said “wow” to myself. I was a bit worried it might be “too musculine” but surely it is a TRUE unisex. The most gorgeous color of the juice represents this marvelous perfume. Immediately I got the ink – and yes, sweet ink, and beautiful salty notes. Honestly it is a miracle of a fragrance – reminds of the ocean by being anything but “fresh aquatic”. It smells of the real deal: the salt, the darker depths, the inky squid… I am completely in LOVE!! Plus I got an extra sample of the Bee perfume. Haven’t tried it yet but everyone is raving about the Bee so I am super excited!!
So glad your blind buy worked out!
Yay for blind buy confirmation! And Squid is just a GORGEOUS perfume. It didn’t take well to my skin but I absolutely adore it on others. Hope you like Bee just as much!
SotD = CdG Avignon . . .
because the sample was sitting on my desk. 😀 And it smells good! That makes me a serendipitous house twin with Robin on this fine Tuesday.
Happy Birthday, Audrey Hepburn. I stumbled across Roman Holiday a month or so ago while browsing Netflix which led me to check out two books – Audrey in Rome and Audrey at Home – both by Luca Dotti, her younger son. The first is a compilation of street photos, the second is a collection of recipes Audrey enjoyed. Both include interesting notes about her life.
Highly recommend, if you’re interested in that sort of thing. Funnily enough, there were about half a dozen pages ripped out of the recipe book. I wondered if the thief wanted the recipes or the photos? 😉
Such a contemplative perfume…
There are 2 of us in the incense series today 🙂
I do love the house of CdG. It is very sentimental for me because it is one of the first real “niche” perfume houses I fell in love with. CdG helped me acquire a completely different taste for my fragrances. To this day CdG has a special place in my heart…
Also it is a nice evening here where I live and occasionally I catch a gorgeous whiff of my Squid on my wrist… I am totally in love with it!! Lasting power is 10 out of 10 for me
Squid sounds interesting!
perhaps you can consider yourself “inked?” 😀
