It's the last Friday in April! (Plus, International Jazz Day.) And April showers bring May flowers... Our community project for today: whatever the weather, wear a spring floral.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
Me: I'm still out of town, did not remember to consider the community project when I packed, and never wear much fragrance when I'm visiting family — I'll probably be commando until bed time, again. ZERO points for me this week.
Reminder: 5/7 will be "I really shouldn't have"...wear a fragrance you shouldn't have bought, you shouldn't wear, or shouldn't ? (This project was suggested by Katrina, and I can't find the original comment so I hope I have captured her meaning.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello everyone!
First of all thanks for all your good thoughts and positive energy. My test result was available online yesterday after 10 PM and turned out to be negative. Today I had a phone call with my doctor and got an antibiotic and cough syrup prescription to cure this spring cold better.
I’m wearing Le Galion Iris now.
Hooray! I’m glad your test was negative. Hope the antibiotics and cough syrup help you feel better quickly.
Me too. We have a long weekend so I got some time to get better.
Great news! I hope the new scrip knocks this bug flat and that you are feeling better very soon.
Hopefully.
Yay!
Now get some rest!?
Will do.
So glad you’re well buddy. Le Galion! I love the brand.
Portia xx
It’s a relief for sure.
Great news! Feel better soon!
Yay! Anxiety eased! Best wishes for a quick recovery!
Yay! Hope you’re over the cold soon!
Great news!
Yes it is
Thank goodness!
I wish I could air ship you my chicken soup so you could have comfort! Take your meds, drink tea & soup, and go to bed with dusk (and I know that is hard with the longer hours of sunshine.)
Next time I’m sick, can I take you up on that offer? 😀
Of course!
Thank you! I’d be happy to reciprocate. 😀
That’s terrific news about the negative test result. Have a restful weekend!
So glad, take good care of yourself.
Great news! Sending positive energies your way – take good care of yourself and get well soon!
Yay! Glad for your negative results. Hope you start to feel better soon.
Excellent news on those test results!!
Hurray! Glad to hear it, and I hope you’re feeling better!
No CP points for me, unless shiso counts as a spring flower. I’m wearing You or Someone Like You.
Hope everyone has a fabulous day!
Shiso sounds like a flower ?
You inspired me to grab that out of my EldO sample kit just now, I adore shiso and didn’t realize that perfume was centered on it. Omg. Twinning and loving it!
I’m wearing Grandiflora’s Saskia, an absolutely gorgeous gardenia and my new spring favorite. There aren’t that many lovely gardenia perfumes out there. This one is supposed to smell just like the main Grandiflora shop in Australia. I’d love to visit someday! Has anyone been there or tried any of the other Grandiflora perfumes? I read that they showcase some native Australian botanicals.
I haven’t tried the one you’re wearing today but actually yesterday I wore Queen of the Night from the brand.
What did you think of it? I couldn’t figure out what it would smell like from the note list, that’s for sure!
To me it smells like a flower shop. I liked it enough to get a bottle some years ago.
I may try to seek out a decant, then. Thanks!
If you were in EU I would have send you a sample
OOOOHHH! I’m madly loving Saskia and hope to splurge on a bottle ASAP.
Isn’t it absolutely gorgeous? We smell so good today! Have you been to one of her shops?
Yes, I have been to a couple of launches and bought flowers from there. The shop is only small but it’s famous as the best florist in Sydney.
Since I couldn’t find my sample of Muguet Porcellaine, since I don’t think I own any other lily of the valley, nor any tulip, nor any narcissus and since – given that I already did the flower in two other CPs recently – I didn’t really feel like trotting out the old hyacinth yet again, I, too, tried to take a slightly roundabout approach to today’s theme. I therefore went for Safran Troublant, reasoning that, saffron basically being crocus pollen, that might just about count – even if, of course, April showers would at most bring out next year’s crocuses. Only when I had already sprayed it, I came across the fact that saffron is actually from an AUTUMN-blooming type of crocus (which I didn’t even know existed). Well, at least I’ve learned something new!
I love Safran Troublant!! Must go find my bottle for tomorrow.
BUT Colognissimo, I always think of Safran Troublant as a Spring spritz.
Still, points for effort!
Shay and Blue: English Cherry Blossom
Perfect!
Not really a springtime-floral kind of guy, but I do love carnations madly, so I’m in a couple of substantial sprays of Caron Coup de Fouet, a soft, rounded, peppery carnation that dries down warm and a bit sweet. It’s pure pleasure.
Oh nice. I do miss carnation perfumes.
Love carnation scents! Wish I was next to you…
Indeed, so do I, not least because I would love to know some more of those classic Carons … although in this case, after putting the name into Google and being confronted with a German translation equivalent to “whiplash trauma” (in German, the word is linguistically completely unrelated to whiplashes, so the mistranslation feels even starker), I’m no longer quite sure 😉
“Whiplash trauma!” It used to be a bit traumatic, I think, an EDT version of the reportedly violent Poivre parfum, but in recent years it got softened a fair bit. My bottle is about 15 years ago and it’s just lovely, some spikiness as we expect from carnations but not brutal at all, but I’ve smelled some more recent Carons and don’t care for them: they were *all* redone and not for the better.
This morning Jin came into my perfume room and picked up a bottle at random. It was Datura Noire by Serge Lutens. He wafted spring all over the house delightfully for a couple of hours.
I’ve been in Teo Cabanel Alahine for a dinner out but tonight at home in the cool autumn night I’ve spritzed YSL Opium: Orchidee de Chine. it’s a very pretty, less hefty, springlike version of the original.
Hope you all have a safe and well weekend.
Portia xx
I have a vintage bottle of Datura Noir and it’s a perfect Florida spring scent for me, it’s got a hint of something sharpish/mysterious/dangerous, but also full of soft light and color. Love it!
One of my favorite scents to wear when I lived in Florida was Live In Love, by Oscar de la Renta. Very refreshing green floral.
OOOH! Wow! Those vintage bottles are much more syrupy by all accounts, aren’t they? Mine is fairly modern but not recent. Old export but with the SL logo rather than the Palais Royale windows.
YES! So much light and colour. What a good way to describe it.
Wow, Datura Noir is fabulous stuff…. Lucky you!
I wore Orchidee de Chine for several summers after it came out. Great scent
OOOH! Bet you smelled killer in it too.
Lucky you, having a bottle of Orchidee de Chine! When I found out about it, it was already going for stupid $$$ on Amazon and eBay.
Best place to find it is on peoples Sale Docs in the FB perfume groups. It’s almost never as expensive buying from perfumista to perfumistas. That’s where I scored this bottle for only a very smell fortune.
I’m wearing an old standby, the cheap as chips Smell Bent Florist’s Fridge, with it’s hyacinth and orchid notes.
That’s a friend’s all-time favourite spring scent!
That’s a really fun one — and it does smell just like a florist’s fridge!
TGIF!
Sotd is Velvet Mimosa Bloom from D&G.
Drinking a mug of rose latte and having a slice of wheat toast with honey butter.
Rose latte sounds delish!
2nd that.
3rd that! (BRB, googling how to make rose latte….)
I planning to goggle it also after I finish working! ?
Wearing Eat More Flowers courtesy of cazaubon. It’s perfect for today!
In Amouage Love Mimosa ?.
Having my second cup of coffee with few drops of jasmine extract and a handful of plantain chips.
Beautiful, sunny, breezy spring day and ready to get my second Covid shot later this afternoon, after work.
Happy Friday, everyone! ?
You smell great. Love my Love Mimosa.
Thank you! It is a fabulous scent!
You smell gorgeous! It is beautiful and sunny out, but oh the ?!
Thank you Hajusuuri!
Windy here, too! But it didn’t bother me at all when I took doggie out for a walk, early this morning. It was rather pleasant!
Mimosa and floral coffee twins! 😀
Yay! Double twins!
Scent twins! I used up the last of my sample. Very pretty, but way too spendy to get a whole bottle…
Hi twin! Love Mimosa is very beautiful. I still have half of my sample, but I will get a decant after I am done with the sample. I don’t need a full bottle either, since a couple of drops are strong and long lasting.
I used to feel that way about Amouage, and now I have 4 different bottles. . . so apparently, that’s NOT a thing for me anymore. I don’t recall if I’ve tried Love Mimosa, though. I will try to keep an eye out for it!
Good luck with the shot!
Thank you, Lillyjo! ?
Yay for your second shot!
I’m enjoying the wind too. It’s shaking all of the petals off of my flowering cherry tree and while I’m sad to see the blooms go, I do love the pretty pink snow!
Thank you, Vee!
I think the cherry tree next door will lose all its petals today too, due to the strong wind. But the very thick, fluffy pink blanket on the ground is very beautiful! ???????
Hoping you breeze through the second shot.
Thank you, Aurora! Fingers crossed! ?
Yay for your second shot! Hope you have time to relax and indulge a bit afterwards in a feeling of well-being.
Thank you Laila! For now, I hope to meet some family members that I have not seen in more than a year. Happy about it!
Ooh, jasmine coffee?? I have done rose and orange blossom water and lavender syrup, but where do you find edible grade jasmine extract?
(No affiliation). Here the link. Enjoy!
https://www.olivenation.com/jasmine-flavor-extract.html
Yay for the 2nd shot! Hope that you can relax this weekend and take it easy!
Thank you Gail! I hope the side effects are not so bad. Otherwise, I will have to postpone all my errands for next week and just rest.
All the best from me, too. And great choice of perfume!
Thank you, Colognissimo!
Second COVID shot twins! Wow!
Yay! Let’s hope for no annoying side effects!
Jour d’Hermes Absolu for a big ole melange of spring flowers. But to be honest, I was really in it for the grapefruit opening this morning!
Very glad it is Friday. Visiting my mom this weekend, and I’m so looking forward to rocking on the porch with a glass of wine.
Have fun with your mom!
Oh man that sounds like a delightful time. My mom has a porch that I’ve never yet managed to enjoy in the summer, and due to COVID I haven’t seen her in going on two years. Hopefully a visit is possible before too much longer! But also maybe I can get some wine and enjoy it on my own couch in the interim….
Wore Tigress Musk and paid something off a few days ago and paid something else off today. Really happy over that. Now I can put that little bit of cash elsewhere. Wearing Estee Lauder Pleasures for the CP. Only 2 more days until vacation!
I love Pleasures. You smell terrific. That is perfect for the CP
How are you feeling today?
Still a little tired and headache is easing up but doing OK. Thanks for asking.
Hi all!
I’m in Eau de Narcisse Blue today. Perhaps not very spring floral, but the texture! Too bad this wasn’t a bigger seller.
Stay safe all!
What do you mean by texture here? I’m curious.
I’m in Sous les Magnolias by Pierre Bourdon. It is enchanting, so sad this house no longer exists. I remember purchasing this scent and La fin d’un été very well. I would love to go back to the shop in Paris.
It is really interesting how few f&f co. perfumers have managed to successfully start their own house.
Morning all, wearing Bandit extrait for FriYAY! Galbanum and loads of greens.
Makeup is Lancome – L’Absolou Rouge lippie in Perfect Fig (warm rosewood), eye shadow is Kohl Black Lapis liner (teal/navy) smudged, with a neutral shimmer from the Terre De Sienne palette.
I’ve picked a wild salmon fillet for supper tonight, I’ll put it on a cedar plank for flavor when I grill later on. I have a maple marinade that I put on top. Extra delicious. The recipe is from Downshiftology.
I’m sooo happy it’s Friday-tough workout scheduled for today. It’s leg day (and Super-Sets!!) so the workout is going to be tough. 5×10 each of: Front Squat, RDL, Hack Squat, Cable Sumo Squat, Single leg calf raises, seated curls and extensions.
I’ll be online later, if I can get off the floor! 😀
My goodness…that all sounds wonderful. Especially the salmon. My favorite fish
Thanks! I don’t normally care for seafood and am trying to eat healthier. Here’s the recipe:
https://downshiftology.com/recipes/cedar-plank-salmon/
I’ve never cooked salmon on a cedar plank myself! That sounds delicious!
Planked salmon is SO good! Enjoy!
I tried it tonight, it was SO tasty and super easy! I’m shocked at the delicious taste.
Now I’m spoiled for anything else….
I am not a flower scent fan, but I am wearing Cabotine today, which is the most flowery scent I own.
Now starting my holiday stay at home with rain and cold. Not nice.
Cabotine is glorious….
Good morning and Happy FriYAY!!
I’m by myself in my section of the pharmacy today, so I can wear whatever I like, however strong and stanky and wonderful. So I went with 2 sprays of Novaya Zarya Patchouli Magique. Sooooooooooo good!!! A little bit of dirty hippie patch, and a little bit of warm comforting vanilla/incense/musk. I don’t get many opportunities to where what I want, so I’m doing it right today! 🙂
Oh, wow, that sounds fantastic! I love a good hippie patchouli. I used to mix mine with sandalwood, musk, vanilla, and ylang ylang essential oils (diluted in an oil base).
*wear* what I want….. 🙂
Ending my week of scents that contain lilac with Desarmant, my favorite lilac scent
You know I love that one. Gorgeous.
You smell beautiful! I love Desarmant.
Very happy in En Passant today.
I am no doubt a day late and a dollar short–but do you all know about the 2019 French film, Perfumes? 100 percent “fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes. No idea where to see/stream it tho. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/perfumes
New to me, too — it looks really charming!
Thank you for the heads up on this. It looks great and I love the 2 main actors. Emmanuelle Devos was amazing in Kings and Queen and Gregory Magne was hilarious in Call My Agent.
I went down a rabbit hole and found it streaming on Curzon – https://homecinema.curzon.com/film/perfumes/ and am now looking into what it takes re: cost, membership, etc. to watch it.
I’m wearing a great big armload of spring flowers in Montale Jasmin Full this morning, and my hurting foot is feeling better after a day of rest. Weeding and feeding the lawn this morning, then resting it the remainder of the day.
OOH.
You smell AMAZING. *takes a deep virtual sniff*
And please be gentle! Weeding & feeding should be enough for today!
I love Jasmin Full–it’s got that weird, metallic vibe to it, and it’s so big! That’s a “no apologies” scent.
Glad to hear that your foot is feeling better today.
Hajusuuri-level sprays of Chamade for the CP. I’m at home, doj g homework, so I can waft as much as I like. It’s sunny and chilly here today, which I quite like. Agnes is sprawled on the couch.
The husband went to a men’s breakfast and just called. He’s at the market, asking if I want a fresh lemon apricot scone. I do.
Agnes’ other favorite spot…
https://www.instagram.com/p/COTDsE6BNG8/?igshid=6u651fukc6oe
She’s beautiful, cats really know how to relax.
That sounds like a very nice morning. Now I want a scone too!
I am drooling with your scone comment. And that Agnes is super-adorable. Did she need to adjust or does she now own the house? ?
She adjusted to full ownership.
Tell him to pick up a scone for me, too. Then, you can eat it for me.
Your husband sounds like a keeper.
Oh, what a sweet-looking kitty!
Friday!
1) SOTD: Taking a tip from Ms H yesterday, I am wearing Prada Oeillet, a lovely spicy/powdery carnation. Perfect accompaniment to end of month reports.
2) If my math is correct, my tax return should cover about 1/2-3/4 of the cost of the kitchen reno- which means that by doing it myself I actually come out ahead. Huh! Will double check, but if that is indeed correct, countertops can be a better grade of butcher block or even stone.
I thought my quartz counters were affordable at $250 each at Beavertoncabinets.com. Installation nearly tripled the price but if you don’t need a sink cutout you can probably install on your own with someone to help carry and position. (I have done loads of home reno by myself.)
OOOOOH.
That is a good, good, good tip. I am finding that there are these places that do stone and tile work and they have really good selections and pricing! I am going to check them out!
Woo hoo! The Prada is wonderful!
So I know it’s contrarian but I would rather have a small refund than a super-large one, other than if the larger refund is due to something unexpected. I don’t know how I’ll do yet because a co-worker told me not long ago that the rules for “home office” have loosened. Also, I’m thinking that working from home in NJ versus at my normal NY work location may give me a tax advantage as well.
1) The Oeillet is really lovely! I have the sample dabber. My goal is to thunk ALL of the Prada sample dabbers this year!
2)Generally speaking, that’s good, as it means you did not loan the government more money than you needed to!
3) Home office rules were changed with legislation a few years ago- employees may not be able to deduct home office use. However, I am going to check with a CPA regarding this as well, since I use my home office for other things.
#3 – please do check. It does not have to be a purpose-built “home office” since many people have used the “If I fits I sits” office set up. For example, I use my kitchen.
Thank you for this point!
Parcels from the swap meet already! Wearing a homemade patchouli oil to finish up a large gardening project and it is perfect. Thank you, chocolatemarzipan8!
Shoutout to andshewaz for including scrumptious tea samples! I appreciate them immensely!
Thank you!! So glad you are enjoying them.
So glad that you are enjoying it ?????
??!
??
Hello there! ?
Hi!!! ??
It’s my day off today. I’m trying to enjoy it despite the outside world working against me. Lol.
Sotd is Dior Grand Bal. Jasmine, Orange blossom and Ylang Ylang. It’s partly sunny here, but it still feels like fall instead of spring. I don’t mind though, since I can now be fairly certain it won’t be snowing anytime soon. ???
Do enjoy your day off, your scent sounds pretty.
Thanks! It’s probably more summer floral than spring but it makes me feel happy when I smell it?
Heat still off (on purpose)…let’s see how long I last! I hope you are enjoying your day!
My heat is still on but turned down. It only comes on at night/early morning.
Love ylang ylang notes!
I love it in some perfumes and not much in others. This is a hit though! Too bad it’s expensive and I think discontinued.
Songes for the CP
Today for some reason it has monster sillage. I love it.
NY is turning back to normal but my perfume says stay 6ft back!
Keep spraying for safety then!
YES to perfume as a social distancing enforcer!
Yay for Friday!
I’m in a sample of Shalimar Initial l’eau today. Not sure it would count for CP, but I’m on a bit of a Shalimar kick this week since I received my Philtre decant. I’m eager to revisit and compare the different flankers and concentrations. Initial l’eau does not bare much resemblance to the original Shalimar.
Love that one with the refreshing grapefruit.
I’m repeating an earlier scent, Highland Lilac. That and my lilac soap in the shower make me feel springy.
I’m not really a floral perfume gal, wood, vanilla, incense, oud and amber are more my daily thing, but I do love lilacs.
Carried them in my wedding bouquet, cut from our backyard the florist added them in. Also tucked into the cake decorations.
Oh, it is lovely that you had your own lilacs in your bouquet!
I’m with you on not really being a floral gal and with you on the lilacs. Mine are getting ready to open and I can’t wait!
I love florals but man, lilac really is so amazing. They bloom later here in Canada – mid-June – so you’re giving me something to look forward to! I need to hunt for where the good ones are in my current city.
My neighbour’s lilac is now blooming; its lovely! I’m probably in a different growing zone being in the Okanagan.
Sounds like, more lucky you!
Late May to mid-June is the season in ON/QC depending on the spring. This recent cold snap is not going to encourage them to hurry along here.
It’s pedestrian, maybe even not good, but I’m wearing Bright Crystal. I needed a reminder to be a positive and nice girl. I think it’s helping.
Whatever works!
I have days where I make myself think something nice about literally every single person that crosses my path that day (their hair is beautiful, cool shoes, that couple seems sweet, whatever) until I can get out of my funk. Maybe I need some Bright Crystal!
Excited to participate in Houbigant Essence Rare which alart from having a wonderful iris note has a clear like a bell lily of the valley.
*apart
Nice! Mine should be blooming in a week or so.
Wonderful, their little peekaboo heads look so pretty, the perfume is a J-C Ellena masterpiece.
I love Lily of the valley.
You would enjoy this perfume, it’s my most beautiful floral, well, along with Diorissmo.
A good LotV note is surprisingly difficult to come across, at least for my nose. Some of the current aromachemicals are just Not Good, IMO.
Yes, the original materials are now banned, but with a little J-C Ellena magic this one works, it is very different from his Muguet Porcelaine which I didn’t care for but Essence Rare is very different, I would use the word masterpiece.
I’m in Hermès Mandarin Ambree. It has pretty much faded by now.
My parents are on their way home from florida today! I am tracking them on my phone and they will be here in a few hours.? Last year they didn’t stop on their way home because…well you know why, but this year we’ve all had our jabs, I am so excited to see them.?
Yay! Have fun! Are they staying over?
Thanks hajusuuri!? They stayed for dinner and visiting for a few hours and then headed to their hotel. They’ll head for home early in the am, and I have homework to work on.
Have a wonderful visit with your family. Wishing you lots of ? ? ? !
Thanks Laila! There was lots of hugging!?
Have fun with your family! Well deserved gathering! ?
Thanks pl67!?
Have a great visit!
Thanks lillyjo!? It was so nice to see them!
Awesome!
?
I’ve been testing through the RdF Personal/Space line this week, and saved Leis for today because it is the most floral of the five, but I’m not sure if Frangipani and Ginger Lily really count for the CP – they are more tropical florals than spring florals.
It is undoubtedly a tropical scent, but uses fruit-forward florals, rather coconut or pineapple, to convey “tropical.” It comes within a millimeter of being sweet, without actually being sweet, which I like. the florals are thick petaled white and yellow flowers, just slightly heady, with a melon (or maybe papaya?) note mixed in. I get some salt and ambergris in the background, which ties it in with the rest of the P/S line.
Having now tried all five, I like how tight the P/S line is. They use different combinations of a handful of notes to create scents that are distinct, but clearly related. Smelling them in sequence, I definitely had the sense of moving around one location where, depending on where I stood, certain notes moved in and out of prominence as I moved toward or away from them. So as concept art, bravo RdF!
I promise I am not a secret agent for RdF, just a fangirl.
Nothing wrong with fangirling! We all like what we like.
Well, I wore myself out completely doing yardwork yesterday, and Mr. G is a bit under the weather following his second vaccine shot yesterday, so we’re both taking things very easy today. SOTD is Paris-Deauville, which is mostly an herbal citrus scent but which does have some flowers … although they’re more summer flowers than spring, so maybe half a point for me? In any case, I smell fresh and crisp and green. Happy Friday all!
Hope he is not too sick…but everybody taking it easy sounds like a good idea.
Hope that Mr. G is feeling better soon! He’s had quite the vaccine wallop.
SOTD = Jo Malone Elderflower Cordial Cologne
This is 3 of 3 Marmalade Collection I bought. It is a sweet and sour fruity floral and it is creamy delicious and I could swear there’s some vanilla in there somewhere!
https://www.instagram.com/p/COTKCEphdXe/?igshid=tao4v3dngxb4
In other news:
https://www.nytimes.com/search?dropmab=false&endDate=20210429&query=Toilet%20paper&sort=best&startDate=20210429
(I think this will hurt the already hurting. And no, I won’t be installing a bidet.)
I admit to keeping tp fully stocked since last spring. My mom would be proud, lol!
I have two of the Costco sized packs and I am down to the last layer from the 3rd pack I’ve been working through. The news makes me want to go out and buy one more big pack!
Oh FFS! Not another run on TP!
So which of those 3 Jo Malones is your favorite?
Seriously!
I love Elderflower Cordial the best, followed by Tangy Rhubarb. Orange Peel was good but Orange Saguine is my go to Orange for now.
Since I have a travel spray of Orange Sanguine, that takes care of orange notes for me too.
Very glad to hear I’m not the only one who got some vanilla from it. I wasn’t expecting it and was a bit worried I was smelling phantom notes.
I love the Oriole photo! They’ve just been sighted in my area and I’ll be putting up our feeder this weekend.
Spring floral, here I come! Fragrantica describes this as floral, yellow floral, and white floral, and the symphony of flowers I’m wearing include violet, lilac, mimosa, LOTV, peony, almond blossom, rose, and hibiscus. Can you guess my SOTD? The very lovely Guerlain Champs Elysees. I don’t know if the very visible deep purple buds on my lilac bushes are affecting my sense of smell, but today I’m smelling the lilac note in today’s perfume like never before and I am ? it!
It’s a beautiful spring day here: the flowering shrubs have finally begun to drop their blossoms but in addition to my soon-to-blossom lilacs, my peony plants are knee high and all my spring veggies are up. A bird is building a nest directly above one of my breakfast windows and some of the nesting materials are hanging down, tantalizing my cats to my delight. I haven’t yet seen the bird but from what I’ve seen of the nest and its placement, I’m guessing it’s a robin; we have them in abundance here.
I’m hoping to see my grandkids this weekend for the first time in months and meet my new grand kittens ?? for the first time (and, yes, see my son and DIL, too), and next week we’re getting together with some friends we haven’t seen since last fall. We’ve all been fully vaccinated so we can celebrate without masks but with hugs! Yay!
Wishing a good weekend ahead for all NST’ers!
Enjoy your family gathering! It will be extra special and uplifting after so long!
2nd all of that…enjoy the hugs Laila!
Oh, I will! Hope your trip this week has been extra special and uplifting, too!
Thank you, I will. Going to my son’s tomorrow afternoon. He and my granddaughter are baking me a cake. Yum! ?
Sounds like you have a wonderful weekend planned! Enjoy!
Thank you! Looking forward to seeing real non-Zoom people!
I am non-compliant today in Scotch Porter’s Glenwood, which is my absolute favorite from their collection of four fragrances. It reminds me a lot of CdG Jaisalmer, in that I find it calming, and it works really well on my skin.
It’s been a long, busy week, and I’m looking forward to getting done with work today and spending a quiet evening with Otto Mi Gato and a book.
You are all so marvelously fragrant!
Cat snuggles are awesome no matter what else is going on. ?
CP points in St. Clair Scents Song of Aubrac – the daffodils and narcissus are still front and center where I am – and added a shot of EldO’s You, or Someone Like You, inspired by sistine. They play very well together!
I feel bright and sunny despite today’s grey skies and “feels like” 2°C temperature. Wishing everyone the same!
I’ll send you some sunshine, but it might come with a hefty dose of wind!
Gladly accepted, we’ll say it’s to blow the clouds away!
The lilacs are blooming and I am wearing En Passant. On the other wrist I am wearing Elderflower Cordial for the gooseberry note. I wanted to wear fragrances today that remind me of the flowers and berries grown in my mother’s and grandmother’s gardens, in their memory.
That first sentence sounds like a great opening to a song…..
Idea for a CP;
This one is not tied to weather, or seasons, at least not any that we are familiar with
Perseverance and Ingenuity; after the names of the little robot rover and the mini-drone on Mars. Even someone as cool to space explorations as myself can’t help be gobsmacked by the videos posted of these two float down to Mars with parachutes dropping through no air, and then the launching of a helicopter on a planet with just about no atmosphere. The videos and photos being sent from Mars- windswept, valleys and cliffs and what looks like a river bed infused with iron ore. (Check out NASA’s UTube channel- and if anyone knows what the rock is actually made of, and why it looks like a river bed, let me know.)
Of course, Perserverance and Ingenuity might inspire Martian related simply entirely earthbound/ perfume choices.
I love this. Even just the idea of perfumes with insane longevity or really ingenious note pairings could work. This is a home run CP!
Added to list, thanks Dilana!
My SOTD is Carillon pour un ange, in honour of the lilies of the valley that are taking over the back of one of my raised boxes in the cave (er, back patio).
Cold-ish, rainy-ish day to close out April. Feels about right. But I’m really wishing we could get to temperatures 10C or above at night, so I can put out all the seedlings going nuts on my office windowsill before the move/reno starting this coming week. Doesn’t look like it’ll happen, so the whole indoor garden will have to move with me to the Airbnb, along with the cat and all the food in the pantry since the movers won’t take it.
Looking forward to May and hoping it brings better news. I think we’ve finally hit our point here in BC, at least among people I know and people I work with, where we’re really just kind of over it all…though it is nowhere near over. Hoping to see more vaccine supply in May…supposedly it is coming.
Day later so don’t know if you’ll see this, but keeping my fingers crossed for you! Really seemed like there was a massive shortage here until all of a sudden there was more supply than demand.
A late run-by to say good morning, I’m off to a hair appointment in a spray or two of SL’s Fleur d’Oranger.
Yay for that hair appointment! Enjoy.
Happy Friday!
I’m covered in a melange from decanting for the swap: a little Bis, a little Infusion d’Oeillet, a little Le Parfum de Therese, a little Patchouly, a little Oeillet Bengale…it’s quite a fragrance fest.
I think there’s some CP points in there somewhere…
You have a whole garden’s worth of scent today.
🙂
Late today, since I had an afternoon appointment for COVID shot #2! This time, getting the actual vaccine stung and burned for a bit. So far, my side effects are the same as last time: a rather sore arm, and fatigue. I was told not to take any Advil for pain, since it is an NSAID and could suppress the immune response to the vaccine.
SOTD = Soivohle Lilacs & Heliotrope EdP. It’s a beautiful, sweet lilac scent that I really ought to wear more often.
I say that about a lot of the Soivohle scents I own! In fact, I’m going to go dig into the perfume cabinet, and dab on some Orris Ochre.
Liz Zorn has done some truly beautiful scents that are also quite wearable.
Are you able to take Tylenol?
In theory I could but a) no Tylenol in the house and b) Tylenol usually doesn’t work on me for any kind of pain.
I am exactly the same! (even worse because my mom worked for McNeil pharmaceuticals growing up, the makers of Tylenol, so you can guess what we had in the house). No reason to think I’m missing liver enzymes, but it really never did the job for me and naproxen also gives me a lot of side effects. Ibuprofen is the key. Hope you’re feeling better soon since you can’t take any!
Tylenol kinda worked for headaches when I was a kid. But when I had jaw pain in college, it didn’t do squat. And then all those news stories came out about liver damage…
So far, not bad. My arm isn’t nearly as painful as last time. We shall see how I feel after a night’s sleep.
Yay for the 2nd shot. But boo to the stinging and burning!
I hadn’t heard about not taking NSAID afterwards; thanks for the info! I will keep it in mind for when I get mine (I can be a baby sometimes).
Thanks! That bit about no NSAIDs is recent advice from the CDC.
Yikes. Congrats on Shot #2 and I hope the side effect is short-lived!
Thank you! Last time I felt like ? for about 48 hours, so not bad at all. Definitely feeling more fatigued than last time. And no appetite this time, which is kind of weird.
Congrats on the shot and hope your side effects diminish quickly. It will all be worth it in the end.?
Thanks Laila!
Very late to the party, but CP compliant. Went with Au Dela Narcisse today, so I smell like daffodils. Weird warm but cloudy day today. I guess that’s spring?!
There’s been weird weather all over lately. So yeah, that’s Spring.
You smell great!
Well, a weird day. I’m in a room in the ER with Mom after her place called me today to tell me there was an “incident”–she bit the aide who was trying to help her in the bathroom. Yikes! They said Mom was having extremely bad pain and they wanted to send her by ambulance to the ER for some checking into. So I said yes and went to meet her here. She was already in a room and the ambulance drivers were here helping her. It’s 8 hours later and they plan to admit her but still no room available so here we sit. She is so confused. She’s had a cat scan and a lot of hip X-rays. The doctor thinks she might have had a fall and hit her head and/or her hip and broken some bones in it. The nurses and technicians have been extremely kind and patient. We got a sandwich to share awhile ago and I had brought some cookies and a candy bar. Wish we knew more. It is heartbreaking to see how tough it is for someone with dementia to cope with a hospital visit with so many scary noises, movements, needles, and all just in a haze of awful pain. I just wish I could make it go away.
Before all this happened I had put on some Van Cleef and Arpels Gardénia Pétale for the spring flower CP because I adore gardenias, and they are usually blooming here right now. Not this year because of our Big Freeze. I still smell rather nice even after 8+ hours. It’s a beautiful scent but misses the buttery aspect of gardenia.
I’m really sorry your mom is going through all of this, and for the stress you are carrying from it. Sending virtual hugs.
Calypso, I’ll be keeping you and your mom in my thoughts.
I’m so sorry you and your mom had such a difficult day and I’m holding you both in my thoughts tonight.
I’m so sorry Calypso. I’m glad you can be with her. Sending good thoughts your way.
Focusing on health and healing for your Mom and also for you. Also hoping you have a room❤️
Very late but hope you will update us…I am sure it is beyond heartbreaking.
