It's the last Tuesday in April. Birthdays today: Mary Wollstonecraft, Samuel Morse, Ulysses Grant, Coretta Scott King. RIP Alber Elbaz and Hester Ford. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm out of town for the week and my fragrance usage will be minimal. I did wear a dab of Diptyque Philosykos to bed last night.
Reminder: April showers bring May flowers...whatever the weather, wear a spring floral on 4/30.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Blushing Birds porcelain tea set is out of stock in red, but you can still find it in khaki beige for €76 at Pip Studio.
Good morning NST!
Posting early today and I’m in Masque Milano L’Attesa, which fits the CP nicely.
Have a wonderful time with your sister, Robin!
Thank you, will do!
Hello all!
Picked up a bottle of Chanel No. 22 this weekend and have been luxuriating in it all day. I love every phase, from the shower of crisp aldehydes to the warm vanilla woods drydown. I was surprised to get two compliments on it last night, even though I could barely smell it through my mask.
Stay safe everyone!
No 22 is lovely!
It is! I prefer it to No. 5, but sadly prefer the pricing for No. 5.
I do to.
Fabulous!?
?
Congrats on the No. 22, it’s so gorgeous!
It really is. But in the Exclusifs, so easy to overlook.
Oh, 22 is very lovely indeed! And quite tenacious!
You smell FAB!
Thank you! I was surprised anyone could smell it after a few hours.
Yay for a new bottle of No. 22!
Sensational! And the last one they had in the boutique. ?
I’ve been imagining an inter temporal birthday party for those four.
Grant and Morse could discuss the Telegraph, which helped Grant win the Civil War, but Grant would hog the Port, and then try to borrow money from everybody. He would then get into an argument with King over the competing doctrines of total war vs.non-violent organizing as means of achieving social change. King and Wolstencraft would have a falling out over intersectionality.
Maybe the evening could be saved if Wolstencraft brought her daughter along for some story telling.
LOL — excellent story!
This is a book pitch that you should TOTALLY make, or write this and stick it on AO3!
Great story – and now I want a glass of port!
Thank you for this wonderful story!
Soivohle Bottleneck Blues is the skankiest perfume I own but it should be calmed down by the time of my dentist appointment this afternoon. Contains magnolia and lilac so is on theme for the community project
Good luck at the dentist today!
I can get skank from magnolia, but it’s hard to imagine a skanky lilac! Like violet, I associate lilac with drugstore perfumes and fancy soaps.
If I remember right, it’s hyrax that causes the skankiness
Ah, yes that makes sense!
Coromandel was on my pajama sleeves last night and didn’t have the heart to wear anything else. I am getting my 2nd Covid shot today before work. When I get home, my Luckyscent package will have arrived. Wearing Clinique Happy today.
Good luck Dawn! What did you get from Luckyscent?
I got Tauerville Rose Flash. It looks like quite a few of the Tauerville offerings were discontinued too. Andy Tauer must be doing a huge overhaul of his line.
Congrats on your second dose! Any recommendations to try to snag from Tauerville before they are gone?
I really enjoyed Vanilla Flash. The incense on was good but no longer in production. I am not a big Vanilla fan but if you like Tobacco Vanille but find it too expensive, Vanilla Flash is a good alternative.
Enabler pin for VF
I’m going to butt in and say try the Rose Flash–it is amazing, joyous and long lasting.
Enabler pin for Rose Flash!
Yay for 2nd shot!
Best wishes for your second shot.
Yay for the second shot and yay for Rose Flash!
w00t w00t for that second shot!
I hope your second shot went well with minimal side effects. Hooray for a Luckyscent package!
Seems like my spring cold is finally giving up. Not there yet but I’m feeling much better now.
Wearing Atelier des Ors Iris Fauve.
Glad you are on the mend!
Thanks
Sorry to hear you’ve been under the weather! With the isolation of this year, it the first in my memory that I haven’t been sick all winter. I’m sorry it hasn’t worked out that way for you, too!
I have really good immunity and rarely get sick but our weather is crazy this spring. Mix of warm and cold days, rain or sun. Even snow sometimes too! In late April! It’s difficult to know what to wear to feel comfortable.
I can relate to the tumultuous weather! That is typical in my part of the world–although snow in April would be strange here, too. (March snows are fairly common, every few years anyway.)
I have terrible immunity. I’ve often suggested that the Victorians had it right to describe certain people as “sickly” or having a “poor constitution.” There’s seems to be an element of randomness to it!
There is!
Soup and rest for recovery!
????
Glad you are feeling better.
Mugler Aura, a sample of the body lotion (no idea how it differs from the actual scent, which I’ve never tried). It’s very Mugler, which is to say unexpected — bright green and cozily warm at the same time. Probably wouldn’t buy, but I keep sniffing it: it’s a heck of a thing.
I think the lotion is very true to the perfume. I find I don’t need to spray when I wear the lotion, but I do anyway out of habit.
I have the body cream and it is as good as the perfume IMHO. Pyramus your mini-review is very like my experience with it. If it ended up on my desert island, I think it would be excellent company even if it would not be first choice.
I like Aura a lot, probably not enough for a FB though. I do think you smell great!
I’m wearing Dame Verbena, Freesia & Musk.
One of my favorite summer scents. You smell lovely!
Good morning.
Its a little chilly today so I am taking advantage and wearing Black Orchid before it gets too warm for it.
I also had my COVID vaccine yesterday and now my arm is sore. No other side effects so that’s good!
Black Orchid is so chic. Congratulations on your vaccine!
So glad no side effects, that’s great!
I had a similar side-effect but it didn’t last long. Glad you got no fever.
Congrats on your vaccination!
You smell great in Black Orchid! So glad no other side effects other than the sore arm.:)
Hurray for Shot #2 and for minimal side effects!
Woo hoo vaccine!
MK Aqua Vitae Forte
I am really warming to this one. I love it. Anyone else?
Though its cloudy I am testing my new tinted spf from DRTLGY
After testing these samples of tea I have been talking about I think one is the winner to be my favorite which have these notes yunnan black tea, formosa finest oolong tea, taiwanese lapsang souchong black tea, blue mallow flowers, flavoring. The taste is like candied violet, elderberry, blackberry, incense.
Have you heard about the new flanker? Aqua Vitae Cologne Forte?
No.i haven’t
I think this one is already light..
I like that tinted SPF. I’ve been testing out loads of sunscreens lately, and that is a good one, IMHO.
I had a sample of that one and gladly drained it! I loved it!
Busy day ahead for me, I have some errands to run before my first Zoom meeting.
I’m going to wear some Santal Massoia. Does anyone spritz their mask with a fragrance? I’ve never tried, but I might this morning!
Let us know if you try the mask spritz! Seems like a good idea to me.
For me that would be too much, but let me know how you make out with mask spritzing.
I hope the mask spritz works for you. I tried few times and it was too much for me. I prefer the smell of my scent not to be that close to my nose.
I’ve done it before, but it didn’t work out well. Too overpowering.
I went out to run some errands the other day, and my perfume spritz must have been higher on my chest than usual. I kept getting wafts of scent up into my mask! It was nice, but BIG! Like the scent had nowhere to go, so it just banged around the inside of the mask a while.
Reporting that I chickened out of spritzing my mask! For all the good reasons y’all have mentioned! ? I keep thinking, what if I regret this, should I bring another mask with me to swap out if it backfires? Then decided I’m not going to risk it.
I think spritzing behind your neck or on your chest would be the safest bet for catching a whiff of your own scent while wearing a mask (while not being too much).
I’m glad that you decided not to spritz your mask. Having a scent you can’t get away from, even one you like, could be really unpleasant.
I love Santal Massoia. I haven’t tried a mask spritz, but if I did, that would be my choice.
Despite being an 8-spray sprayer, I would pass out if I even have a drop on my mask! Which reminds me, I have to adjust my perfume wearing when I go back to the office.
Lovely teapot set!
Wearing Annick Goutal Songes and ready to go outside to take a walk on this warm, sunny spring day.
Happy Tuesday! ?
There are so many bird-related teapots it was hard to pick…who knew?
Songes, so gorgeous!
It is a fantastic scent!
Love Songes. You smell heavenly.
Thank you! ?
You smell summery today!
I was getting ready for temperatures in the mid 80’s tomorrow! ?
Enjoy your sister time, Robin! I have a trip planned to see both of mine in June, and we haven’t been all together since Christmas 2019. I can’t wait!
Wearing VCA California Reverie today. It’s such a friendly Jasmine. Indolic enough to be interesting but still a safe choice for work.
Oh, I bet you can’t wait! That is a really long time.
You smell perfect. Love California Reverie!
Wearing RdF Falls today. I get a strong cassis note in the opening, but it falls into the background within 15 minutes and the aquatics and fresh green notes take center stage. This also has some pulpy succulent notes (which RdF isolated and turned up to 11 in Cacti). And there is a hint of spice (grains of paradise, maybe?) in the background. I’m curious to see if the spice becomes more prominent later on.
Drinking a pot of Kusmi Anastasia.
I forgot to report my tea, but it’s a bog standard Assam from Upton so not that interesting.
Answering my own Q here – the spice in Falls never became more prominent than a hint.
Gorgeous red tea set, Robin! Now I am wondering if I ‘need’ a red teapot…
SOTD is VCA Bois Dore for a chilly morning. It’s a cozy warm woody vanilla. Looks like it’ll be a pretty day, I’ll go for a walk once it warms up.
Yesterday I got determined to thunk a bottle of shower gel in my bath. There was a little too much shower gel left — I ended up with towering cumulonimbus clouds of bubbles. But the thunk was accomplished 🙂
Ha! I’ve been trying to do that with one of my shower gels too. Tomorrow could be the day!
Ha, it made me wonder the same thing. Do I need a red teapot? Do I need a teapot with a bird on it?
I think one could safely say that everybody needs a red teapot with a bird on it.
🙂
It takes me ages to use up a shower gel, because I use very little to avoid drying out my skin. So a thunked one is a big feat for me
?
I did that the other day with a shampoo lol! You should have seen the suds on my hair!
It’s about time to renew my shower gel stash. I might be down to the last 1 or 2 bottles now.
Oh, you’re doing very well, then! I use stuff up and buy stuff at about the same clip. ?
That sounds so fun! A huge cloud of bubbles is never a bad thing.
I couldn’t decide on a perfume so I sprayed a little Viva la Juicy Noir this morning. I might change for work tonight if something else calls my name. It’s warm today but looks like rain heading my way.
If I was going to own a tea set, it would be the one pictured today.
It’s a smashing set. I keep eyeing teaspoons at the moment.
Is it Tuesday?! I’m losing track of the days.
I was busy all day yesterday and have a couple appointments today, too. I keep a paper day-planner. Without it, I think I wouldn’t have any idea what day it is or how much time is passing.
I’ve worn Attrape Coeur the last couple of days. It’s good in spring in Oregon, where it can be warm and sunny and then cold and rainy within a couple of hours of each other.
First I thought it was Thursday and that I had slept through my 6 AM meeting. Then it dawned on me that it was only Wed and all was well. Needless to say, today just got more confusing.
Hahaha. I’m glad I’m in good company!
I lost track of days this past weekend. More than one day felt like a Sunday. And Sunday did not feel like one. Weird.
That feeling is so disconcerting!
My husband has said he keeps feeling like Christmas is around the corner. Like the last 6 months were far less time, and we still have the winter to slog through.
Half Christmas is less than 2 months away! Don’t you celebrate?
I think this year we should!
I’m also a paper planner person! I don’t like electronic calendars and only use my work one for meetings. At least you didn’t oversleep today like I did; I woke up at 8 and was amazed I made it in to work less than 10 minutes late (I was supposed to be there at 9).
Oh, I’m glad you made it *nearly* on time!
I love my paper planner. I would truly be lost without it. Typing something onto a computer or phone calendar does nothing to help me remember my obligations. I need to write it out and see it fill space.
Paper planner fan too! I need to just be able to flip through pages. A digital calendar isn’t going to work for me.
Yes, there’s something essential about the tangibility of flipping from one week to the next!
When I go to the link the red tea set is still in stock! I may not need an entire red assembly, but the red tea bowl is lovely. I’m verrrrry tempted.
SOTD is Lost Cherry and I had Sakura tea this morning. Tea from Lipton/Japan my friend sent along with the wagashi.
Individual pieces in the set, not AS a set. Sorry.
Aha. That might be better.
You smell delicious in Lost Cherry! What does Sakura tea taste like? Is it a fruity floral type thing?
It is slightly fruity. A soft pink color in the cup. I don’t read Japanese but I think it’s green or maybe even white tea with lots of dried cherry blossoms in it. The tea is pink in color, no brown tint. Lipton tea bags but nicer quality, they’re sort of silk gauze pouches, not the flat paper things. The hang tag on the string is a beautiful cherry blossom. The package is pink and I do know it’s a LE sold only in Japan each year during Cherry Festival.
Tuesday!
1) I woke up to bright, clear sunshine- but now, it’s cloudy and grey! Ah, the ever changing PNW spring weather! 😀
2) Am in Red Apple Peony and Cashmere scent from Beauty Pie- very easy fruity floral, perfect for running errands.
3) So the house a couple of doors down from me is still for sale, despite our so called hot real estate market. It has a few strikes! it is next to a now defunct autoshop, across from a no tell motel, the owners are not keeping up the property garden and as a result there has been dumping (which we neighbors have promptly cleaned up). I am half tempted to make a cheeky offer, if only to get that forlorn ‘For Sale’ looked after!
Argh. The dumping. That’s the worst. Humans. We do dumbly dump. There is a pretty little triangle/park like space where two roads converge, near my house. People leave all sorts of #$%@*& in boxes there–as though “Free” written on the boxes excuses the mess. (Grumble grumble grumble.)
I absolutely HATE HATE IT.
HATE IT.
Ede, how do you really feel?
DISGUSTING!
So, not a fan? 😉
I love your scent today. It’s so nice.
Very sorry to hear about the vacant property. Is the listing company not doing basic landscaping/ cleanup? If not – why? They’ll make money back when it sells.
Nope- no landscaping, no tidying of any bits of garbage, nothing. It’s not good- it has already attracted dumping- but what can be done?
sistine, the Portland market has been really absurd the last 4-5 years–in popular locations, multiple above-asking offers is common, with many folks from out of state buying with cash. I could see that the right property would make a seller lazy about the details.
I’m wearing DSH Oeillets Rouges this morning. My lilacs have bloomed and smell wonderful, but the dandelions have bloomed too, and so I should go and dig them up before they seed and make more dandelions. I am also taking down an enormous shrub bit by bit. I can only put 2″ diameter pieces in the compost bin so I’ve been cutting the big trunk into smaller pieces. This is the third week of cutting and it’s about 1/3 gone. After this, I attack the overgrown boxwoods!
Yards, the generators of Never Ending Projects. When you’re done with the boxwoods, can you come deal with my ivy?
Ugh, ivy. A few years ago, I bought a machete at the Kershaw sale and that’s what I use on it. The machete is good for cutting up giant cardboard boxes, too.
Onward, brave conqueror! 😀
Vintage Amazone from a decant..i did my first bike commute today in combination with public transportation, so only 8km each way and I finally rode my new Brompton bike. I managed okay, but still struggle with a high heart rate, when I exercise. Hope this will get better.
You smell great, and I find that always makes exercising better.
I’m so glad you were able to bike commute today. I hope the rest of your recovery goes quickly!!
That teapot is wonderful!
I started my day in By Rosie Jane James. It’s a woody and fruity but not sweet scent that I love when sprayed in moderation. I usually use a lot of perfume, this scent is probably the only one in my collection that I have to use quite sparingly. Two sprays are lovely, more than that and it gets a bit dirty smelling and not in a good way. Strange but true.
Hey AS, I love that dark blue green in your avatar image thingy.
That tea set is gorgeous, Robin! Actually, I’d like a framed print of the set for my kitchen.
I’m in a thunked sample of Le Jardin D’Amelie, from Olibere, thanks to a sweet NSTer. It reminds me of Hermès Rhubarbe Ecarlate, but greener. I like it a lot and it’s going on The List. ?
Yay for sample thunks!
Thunking even a sample is very satisfying!
I was thinking it would make a great, if rather busy for me personally, wallpaper. I would like the inside of my kitchen cabinets wallpapered in that print, maybe.
Maybe if they reduced the size of the repeat, it would work. But wallpapering the inside of the cabinets sounds fun, especially if they are white.
Beautiful near-zero humidity day with warm sunshine. SotD Gucci Guilty edp, or Intense, could not tell if they are the same. I like it and would wear it from time to time, but it is does not stir my heart. Food treat from lunch time walk and stop at our co-op: Honey Mama’s Cocoa Truffle Bar Lavender Rose variety. It is over the top but very good. Happy Tuesday!
No idea what that is–but chocolate, lavender and rose? Sign me up for the candy, soap, perfume AND tea!
It is a candy bar, but it was in the cold case; it is most like a flourless chocolate cake. I bet they are at many local co-ops, but I forgot to notice where it was made. I think it is a national company. Oh and a tea sounds really good, and easier on the waist…..
A lavender rose truffle bar sounds incredibly decadent.
Ya know how some things are just *worth* the calories….??
LOL! All too well!
I want to eat that!!!
Wearing Chanel eau Premiere, a welcome respite from the 24 hours of regret after applying a tenacious sample of Hermes Un Jardin sur la Lagune, a few minutes of loveliness following by an entire day and night. That one just didn’t work on me!
You smell great today!
Thanks! I never have regret with no 5 eau premiere!!
Sounds like your previous SOTD crashed and burned!
100% But I’m sure it could be fabulous for some…the top notes were quite nice
Wow, I had the same reaction to sur la Lagune….I tried it when it first came out in an airport duty free shop–good thing that it was a looooong wait for my flight or I would have gassed the entire plane!!
That could have made it feel
like an extra long flight!!! You’d think with Hermes it would likely be a sure thing?!
In Hiram Green’s Shangri La. Doused myself in the stuff post shower, and THEN remembered I was meeting with a house painter in 30 minutes. Fortunately, we met outside the house—hopefully he didn’t have an adverse reaction!
I bet he thought, “what is that wonderful smell?!”
Love that tea set!
Fighting off mental funk with lashings of Sintra from a kind NSTer!!!? FB ordered.?
Hope your mental funk dissipates–some days are just like that, eh?
Yes, even in Australia. 😉
At first reading I thought you were wearing Sinatra! Which has me thinking of Fly me to the moon!
I like Sinatra too! Someone read it the same way in another post and imagined a boozy, smoky scent that one might wear to a jazz club methinks. 🙂
Yes! Love that imagery!
I need a Sinatra perfume that smells like that!
I’m going to listen to Sinatra on my commute tomorrow morning!
That was quick! ?
It is gorgeous! And excellent performance too. Thank you for sharing. ❤️
Wearing Cuir Fetiche today, since it was kind of cold this morning, but quite nice now. I’d love it if Spring could make up its mind about being warm or cold!
It would be nice! Probably the only one here that would still love a good snow storm.
No snowstorms please. Bring on the cold any time!
Adding still more praise for the tea set, Robin and yay for your week with your sister.
I have retrieved EL Jasmine-White Moss from the back of the cabinet and it’s doing its Cristalle usual thing. No complaint.
It’s a shame that one was d/c’ed. It sounds quite elegant.
It really is very close to Cristalle EDP so it can give you a Good idea, slightly sweeter, yes, elegant is a very good word for it.
Got the haircut and color for the first time in eons. Feels so good! I didn’t necessarily want my hair cut a lot, but I gave hajusuuri a run for her money with the amount of hair on the floor.
I smell of hair color, salon and soon, Bee. ?
Going to switch to BDK Tabac Rouge tonight, because that is just love, too.
Happy Day!
Yay for cut and color!!!
Feels great! Thanks!
Woohoo! I have an appointment for a cut on May 22nd and I cannot wait. I was in dire need of one before Covid. Locks of Love will be able to get two wigs from what I send them!
LOL can’t take grey or colored hair, I was told. Otherwise, I agree! I would have had a reason for a buzz cut!
🙂 this is definitely the last time I’m going to be able to send my hair. The Gray descends…..
I do LOVE a cut and color!
No hats!
Whoo hoo for a cut & color! Sounds wonderful.
My roots had roots ???
Hooray for the do for hair ?!
Drôle de rose for another beautiful spring day. Pretty and lighthearted in true Giacobetti style.
Yay for beautiful spring days!
You smell lovely today!
Hi, fragrant friends! Checking in on you all!
I wore Cedre Sambac from Fri-Sun last week when I was in Alabama last week (I love that one so much). I packed light so it was the only one I took with me,. Per usual, I did use my Aunt’s No. 5 lotion which I keep her supplied in to go with her No. 5 edt. I adore the lotion and I suppose when she’s gone I will have to get some for myself. I will say, after not seeing her for 11 months, I was shocked at how weak and frail she was. It was very hard leaving her and I’ve been super down since coming back. I adore her. Hopefully I can get back more often now that we’ve been vaxed.
Anyway, Parfums de Marly Meliora yesterday which seems to fit this week’s theme, as it certainly has flowers. It’s pretty but not really me I don’t think. I’d like to smell it on someone else though. Vintage Shalimar extrait from a decant today. It’s turning a bit but I still love it lol.
Cedre Sambac sounds interesting, just by name alone!
That was wonderful that you were able to visit your aunt, even though it was heart breaking, as well. I bet it meant the world to her. I’m sorry for the pain this is causing you.
I’d cling to her Chanel’s, lotion and perfume, when that sad time comes. My mother’s perfumes I dab or spritz on special occasions that remind me of her. Or when I just need her and her perfumes provides me comfort.
Hang in there, KellyC, an aunt must absolutely treasure having such a special niece. ?
Thank you so much. She really is the BEST person I know. Always positive, kind, selfless. A true treasure of a human. It’s so tough so see her frail, though I was so pleased her mind is still so sharp that we had a great visit and conversations!
High praise!
I want to send her a mother’s day card with your description of her (minus the frail part).
Seriously, she is very fortunate to have you in her life. Maybe she will get a little stronger after this year and change has been lifted a bit.
Sending hugs!
Hugs KellyC. I know that feeling of seeing a loved one decline physically. It’s a punch to the gut.
Oh, that’s so hard. Biggest hugs.
I’m so glad you were able to visit. Sending big fragrant hugs ?
Glad you were able to go see her and I hope you can do that as often as you want to.
Wearing AG Neroli (I think).
I received the bottle as a freebie when I purchased other AG perfumes on one of my last vacations (pre-times). I think the reason they were giving them away was because the tag with the scent name was missing from the neck of the bottle. I was gifted 2 bottles and ended up giving the other one to my co-worker friend (who also loves perfume).
I wish I had a coworker to share perfume with!
I agree! At best I get polite interest and once someone gave me a handful of samples which made me so happy.
I haven’t ever encountered that AG. What’s it like?
It’s orange blossom-y with a bit of green in the immediate background as top notes. It doesn’t last too long on me but it’s nice while it lasts.
When I check Fragrantica there is supposed to be cedar in there but I didn’t pick it up this time. Maybe I didn’t spray enough!
Thank you!
SOTD = L’Artisan Parfumeur Safran Troublant

In other news, a letter came out from the powers that be about returning to the office, with large swathes of general statements. You should see the comments. Someone even commented that she is praying for HR. A colleague who sits on some of the same calls as me had to drop from a call and deal with hysterical drama. I have to say it is definitely much easier for me to plan, even though I don’t have a date yet, than let’s say someone with younger children. It was surprising to me, but perhaps I shouldn’t be, that summer camps are still closed or had very reduced capacity. I will say that being able to recoup the lost profit from 2019 (could be earlier) to last year disincentivizes businesses in operating or making any real effort to be open.
Reintegration at our work site is also causing LOTS of headaches. You smell great!
Thank you. I have to say that it’s true that some people would rather go into the office routinely but I have to think that’s in the minority.
You smell great, I love Safran Troublant.
And for the back to work… I think many might have more trouble adjusting to going back than they had starting WFH a year ago, including me!
Me too!
Same sentiment!
Same here. I am returning to work in 2 weeks and even though I will be in the office 2 days a week I am dealing with tons of anxiety. The adjustment now is much tougher than when I started working from home more than a year ago.
So 2 thoughts:
– if you were given until September to begin your initial 2 days a week schedule, would you feel less anxious?
– does your work allow you to declare “living with a higher risk person” and be allowed to continue working from home?
– I would feel the same. It is the change itself what is causing the anxiety and I have to work myself on it. Of course there is still the fear of Covid being around, but I feel safer now.
– They will only allow people to work from home full time if they need to take care of children or a family member with Covid. They don’t really want people to be full time at home anymore.
I’ll need to adjust. We’re doing it slowly and I can probably negotiate my own schedule. “Rotational” was used and I’m the only one in my group who is in the work location and what is the point of going into the office and still mostly have Zoom meetings?
I’m sorry for laughing, but praying for HR? Toby? What would Michael Scott say?
Your last statement was sad. Sad when you know that people are doing just that. Especially, when they rally against it publicly, but privately offer their services.
Seriously, he could make several shows out of this!
My sister works for a university system. For 10 weeks starting in mid-May, she will be on a forced reduced work schedule, working 4 days instead of 5. The kicker? She can apply for unemployment and because of the $300 (could be lower) that is added to the amount, she will be making more money, with the state subsidizing it courtesy of the fed gov’t. Le sigh.
Sounds like some people are going to be dragged kicking and screaming back into your office, IMO.
True! One of the commenters dis not read the letter properly. At any one time, with everyone reporting in rotationally by a certain date, the office capacity will remain at no more than 50%. The commenter said she always wants to be the 50% that never goes into the office. Huh? ?
She probably struggled with story problems as a child.
Funniest comment ever!
This actually sounds like something my daughter would say! Lol!
Looks like that Lion is happy with your sotd!
I wish you and everyone else luck with all the changes.
He sure is happy!
Thanks for the good luck. We definitely got enough notice, in my opinion. I am just leery of having to wear my mask for longish periods.
You smell amazing.
Sorry for the work headaches!
Thank you. Work headaches come with the territory.
SOTA is Jo Malone Elderflower Cordial. I get a lot of gooseberries in this, so I assume it is essentially the same formula as their Elderflower & Gooseberry frag from years ago. The elderflower is definitely a white floral, but without any of the usual white floral headiness. The gooseberries sweeten it up some and make it jammy, but I wouldn’t call it “sweet.” I was hoping this would be closer to elderflower soliflore scent of St-Germaine, and if I had to add a fruit it would have been lemon or bergamot, not gooseberry, but that said, I do like it.
Thanks for the info on that JM!
Several hours in, a creamy vanilla note emerged. I wasn’t expecting it — I actually checked all of my hand soaps to make sure they weren’t the source. It’s absolutely lovely.
I love St. Germaine. It’s such a good liqueur
Yes! It makes every cocktail better.
Sounds nice! I have to wear mine at some point soon!
I’m getting an early taste of summer weather for the next couple of days in my area, hopefully minus the dreaded summer humidity. Pollen making plants are going absolutely nuts as a result. ????
Mr. Jalapeno’s arm is a little sore after his first vaccine shot. I told him that I have soup handy if he needs it tomorrow. So far. that’s the only side effect he is experiencing.
SOTD = Tilting At Windmills Cologne from Scentgrrl by Liz Zorn. Time to break out something summer-ish!
Hopefully he will not get any worse side effects!
Truedat!!
Yay for Mr. J.!
Summery here, too. Mr.Annie? opened the windows-he doesn’t have allergies!
Can you describe Tilting at the Windmills?
Sure. On me, it changes from a grassy meadow type scent to something with sweet flowers (honeysuckle-ish, not candy sweet) and a hint of cosmetic powder. Pretty sure that the Scentgrrl line has been d/c’ed, since I haven’t seen it on the Soivohle website in a while.
Glad your hubby was able to get the vax and the effects haven’t been too bad so far.
I am envious of your summer weather!?
It’s supposed to get up into the high 80’s (degrees F) tomorrow! Too much too soon! I want a couple of weeks with temps in the mid 60’s. But given what I saw in the long range forecast, that won’t be happening.
Congrats to your hubby for shot #1!
Thanks Petunia!
It will be way too hot tomorrow for me. As to the pollen, I am normally not an allergy sufferer but my eyes got gummy after being outside for a short while.
Hey Guys! I have a few important questions.
Do I need Gypsy Water?
Also, I am debating YR Monoi shower gel. Just finished up the last of i and it’s awesome and cheap. Well, by most of our standards.
Should I put those on hold and opt for Boy Chanel instead? Heavy questions, I know.? I am feeling off because I forgot to out on scent today. It was a tragedy. I haven’t forgotten a scent in years… I think…
Which one is making your heart go “pitter pat”, Gypsy Water or Boy? But yes, do get more shower gel!
I vote Boy, because you have mentioned it more, and you never know if it will become scarce or the price will rise. But still get the shower gel as that is a necessity ?
Thanks! I think you are both right. ?
You should get them all ?. I read an article in the NYT on YOLO:
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/21/technology/welcome-to-the-yolo-economy.html
Ha! You are awesome! ?
I wore Escentric 2 today.
So – teaching in pandemic times. One of my students decided to “unquarantine himself” because 4 days was long enough, in his opinion. Somehow (???) none of his teachers caught this until he reached my third period class. Resulting in at least 55 kids needing to be sent into (new) quarantine. And I am the villain according to this young man because I summoned administration and got this (somewhat) taken care of.
Stick a fork in me. I’m done.
Geeze Louise did the parents know he did this?! Do you have to quarantine now?
That’s what I was wondering.. where are the parents in this? Glad you spoke up and dealt with it. Sending you hugs!
I have no idea if his parents knew about this or encouraged it. I’m going to assume that they left very early for work and had no idea that he decided to go to school.
I don’t have to quarantine because I’m 2 weeks past my second vaccination. But I’m spitting mad on behalf of all of the students who are too young to be vaccinated yet (and their parents who now have a major unexpected hassle).
Wow! As lillyjo said, where are his parents?
Good for you for speaking up! That kid was a selfish jerk for breaking quarantine.
Oh for the love of God!
Dragging in at the last minute to say I wore Azemour les Orangers for Monday’s really unattractive younger sibling. Too tired to read comments now; I’ll just wish us all a good night (and a good night’s sleep for a change!).
Good night FearsMice, and you did smell fantastic today!
