Monday, Dutch-American Friendship Day and Bicycle Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I've overslept again. I haven't even had my tea yet. I am going to pick something from what ya'all are wearing.
Reminder: on 4/23, wear one of your "top 10 of spring" fragrances (unless it's fall where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of fall" scents)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Byredo Green which always feels like spring to me, so bright and happy
Nice!
House siblings…haven’t tried that one though!
I’m in Seville a l’Aube. Now I remember why I don’t wear it much. Too sweet!!
You still smell lovely even though you smell sweet 🙂
Aha, but not too sweet for me…I will be your twin.
Orange blossom is not a note I can handle when it’s front and center in a fragrance–that sweetness, to me is like a loud first soprano in a choir–hard to miss and hard to blend in with the rest.
Wearing Le Labo Rose 31, thanks to a very kind NSTer.
Drinking my first cup of coffee with a couple of drops of anise extract and ready to start another crazy, busy week.
Happy Monday! ?
House Twins!
We smell great! Iris 39 is also a big favorite of mine!
You smell lovely. I’d have to say Rose 31 is my favorite of all the Le Labo fragrances. I hope your week is less frantic than you fear! ??
Thank you, NancyL! ?
Rose 31 is a beautiful scent! Love it! My favorite from the line is Iris 39.
I hope the week is not as challenging as expected!
Pretty ????!
Iris 39 today. One of my top 10 loves.
You smell gorgeous. Maybe I’ll wear that tomorrow.
Thanks! Tomorrow will be your turn to smell great!
Gotta wonder why NYC smells of Santal 33 when Le Labo made other, more interesting scents.
I can see that it hits a good middle ground. It does not smell cheap, it is not too clean or too dirty, when it came out it smelled distinctive without being overwhelming or hard to wear, it is perfectly unisex.
I don’t think most people want to smell interesting.
Adding…also think it was just the right price point to take NY & LA by storm.
I’m in Alfred Sung Encore, a dark floral (mostly tuberose and jasmine) oriental (sandalwood and vanilla, with spices that make it smell like Coca-Cola syrup). Not particularly springlike, but you know how you look at the collection and grab something that you haven’t worn in a while. Unjustly ignored, coming right as popular taste was changing from dark and complex to light and fresh. But it’s so good!
Sung perfumes were really good. My favorite was Forever Sung. I went through 2 bottles. Sometimes I think about getting it again, but am afraid it won’t be the same. I never tried Encore. It sounds pretty great!
One of my college roommates wore forever sung. It’s a beauty
That sounds fantastic.
Good Morning-
Excited to be wearing Opardu this morning thanks to the split. This was a blind “buy” for me so I was really taken back by the florals, they are intense and rich and I wouldn’t want to smell this if I had a headache 😉 With that being said its still very easy to wear. I love it.
Yay for loving your blind buy!
You smell beautiful! Opardu is probably my favorite floral.
What is it that you admire about this perfume ?
Now that I have been wearing it , the initial floral overload has now toned down to something so beautiful. Very well done!
That split was my first blind buy. I haven’t tried it yet – I think I’m a bit afraid to, but I’m glad I wasn’t the only one going in blind and that it was a success for you. I’ll work up the courage this week. 🙂
Ok, keep me posted on what you think
Worked up the nerve to try it last night and I love it too!
I’m in Diptyque Tempo from a sample for another try. I think this one is just not for me. It’s starts out damp and vegetal and then becomes almost medicinal on my skin….camphor? I’m not opposed to patchouli, but I prefer Coromandel to this one.
Brr, it’s cold here again! And there are flakes in the forecast for tomorrow. My Rhododendron bushes are in full bloom in front of the house, they are not gonna be happy if we get snow.
I caved and bought the sampler set of the new Molecule 01+ perfumes from Luckyscent. Looking forward to trying them.
I think I agree, Coromandel is so elegant a patchouli. Chanel raised the bar on this one, that’s for sure.
It really is, but admittedly I’m a Chanel fan girl.
Tempo didn’t work for me either. I’m getting snow tomorrow too, but it looks like South of me will get the worst of it.
Hopefully the worst will be south of me too!?
Snow is just wrong. Tempo doesn’t work for me either. A friend of mine wears it and it smells beautiful on her. I’ve walked behind her when she has it on. Maybe it’s a skin chemistry thing.
Yeah, I’ve tried many perfumes that don’t work for me but I’d like smelling them on someone else. And yes, snow is just so wrong this time of year!
I’m in the No camp on Tempo as well. It was perfectly fine, but not nearly nice enough to merit being added to The List.
I’ve been curious about the new Molecules! Please share your impressions if you have time. ?
And yuck to snow!
I love Tempo but didn’t like it the first couple times I wore it. Yay for getting the new Molecule set…I am tempted by it but will wait for your reviews now…no pressure. 😉
Ooh, please report on the samples when you get them!
Sorry that Tempo didn’t work for you. I thought it was a lovely floral patchouli. Different strokes for different folks.
Good morning Y’all,
Randomly picked a Scentbird sample this morning and went with Amouage Honour Woman. MEH. Pretty light to start, and nearly gone just 90 minutes in! Oh well….there’s always tomorrow! 🙂
Or this afternoon, even 😉
Good morning everyone. I’m wearing vintage Lauren cologne, from the burgundy inkwell bottle; reliving H.S. memories. This was the epitome of preppy-girl to me. All of my friends wore it (or copious amounts of Giorgio).
We’re thinking of taking a few days off in June (my birthday month) to spend time in Yosemite park. Kevin found a lovely B & B (Blackberry Inn, near Yosemite). The owner formerly showed Arabian horses, so we’ll have something pretty to look at.
I finished A Bend in the Stars – fantastic read!
And it should be nicely uncrowned, given the reservations requirement again this year. Enjoy!
You are a voracious reader.
What a great idea!
Googled the book, sounds interesting! Adding it to my list.
Nice! We’re waiting for Tioga Pass to open before heading to Yosemite.
That sounds wonderful – I envy your potential trip!
Spent some time in Coco Mademoiselle Intense this morning but now in a tiny dab of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille. I am debating on either Avignon or Rose Flash from Luckyscent today.
hi Dawn, I have a 10 ml rollerball of Rose Flash w/ probably 80% or more remaining that I would be happy to send to you…I bought right when it first came out…email me at sherainsocal at gmail if interested please.
Just pulled the trigger on Rose Flash when I got the notification ?!
It’s raining here and we are expecting snow tomorrow. I have the day off, and am being lazy. I have to make some appointments today but that’s really the only thing on my agenda. I might clean something.. who knows?
I’m pretty certain Robin won’t copy me today as I am wearing MJ Decadence. LOL. It called my name. My son, who never seems to smell anything gave me a compliment. He said “I like that one” lol, I will take it!
HA, no, I have already decided to copy PriscillaE in Seville, but you’re right I wasn’t going there anyway!
How sweet of your son, though.
I knew I didn’t have a chance!?
What happened to April showers bring May flowers? I like MJD. I agree with your son. ?
Nothing better than a compliment from a loved one.
Hope you don’t have too much trouble commuting tomorrow with that snow, but maybe it will just be a sprinkling.
Snow seems wrong for April…hopefully it won’t be too much.
If you do get snow, I hope that it doesn’t stick around for long!
Hello NST, hope you had a lovely weekend.
Woke up to heavy rain this morning but by the time I was leaving for work it was over and then we had a moderate sunlight throughout the day. Thank goodness for a brighter day.
Thunked a sample of Atelier des Ors Blanc Polychrome.
How do you like it? I have an unsniffed sample laying around somewhere.
To me Blanc Polychrome falls into similar category as Nuda Veritas from the brand. I own & love the latter. If Blanc Polychrome fell onto my leap I would happily keep it but having Nuda Veritas I don’t actively chase after Blanc Polychrome.
Sadly I have a Dr. appt. after work and she is very clear and blunt about not scents. I understand. I do miss wearing something though. Saw a comment about Coromandel and it reminds how much I love many of that lines exclusives. Enjoy perfume for me today as I go without.
Good luck with the appointment. I hope you can wear something you love after its over.
I hate being told I can’t wear perfume. Sometimes I rebel and wear a spritz of Infusion d’Iris in such situations and dare them to tell if it’s perfume or just my deodorant.
Did you at least take a decant so you can spritz with abandon afterwards?
That’s what I always do! Usually Dzing!
Hope that your appointment went well and you are now wearing a “Feel Good” perfume.
SOTD is BDK Parfums Pas Ce Soir. So far, so good — this is from a sample package I am trying out, and three minutes in, it’s working for me. From Luckyscent: Black pepper, Ginger, Mandarin, Moroccan jasmine, Quince chutney, Orange blossom, Cashmeran, Patchouli of Singapore, Amber wood.
Another Monday – ugh. I am at that point in the semester when I have much less emotional wherewithal at hand to deal with anybody — students, staff, other faculty, my own self. I’ve noticed that my hermit-like tendencies are getting stronger as the years pass, and they certainly haven’t been reduced by the lock-down.
But, there are only three weeks left in the semester, and then I get a long summer break! Even better, if my early retirement gets approved, only three more semesters to go before I can step down from this work merry-go-round.
Smell good, everybody!
I sampled Pas Ce Soir last year and liked it. I think it a sweet floral? As a whole, BDK did’t work for me but I never did try Gris Charnel. Still curious about it due to hype.
I hope your retirement is approved so you can jump off the merry-go round.
I hope your semester ends smoothly, and your retirement is approved!
Hang in there!
I think I can I think I can! I hope your early retirement request is approved.
Sotd is SL Fleurs d’Oranger. Springing into action with this flowery powerhouse!
Yes you are!
🙂
Taking a break from forest scents today to wear SL Boxeuses. I get stewed plum, old worn leather, licorice, and a tiny bit of wet tobacco. I know there is supposed to be some wood in there, but either it hasn’t arrived yet, or I have so thoroughly thwacked my nose with forest frags lately that a subtle wood note is not going to register.
For the sake of keeping good notes on the F&J hunt: yesterday I tried and eliminated Pino Silvestre. The lavender and clary sage landed it in foaming shaving cream territory, rather than the forest.
Drinking Bourbon Street Vanilla Rooibos from Georgia Tea Co.
OK, the wood in Boxeuses started coming out about 5 hours in and dried out the plum quite a bit
I reached for FM Outrageous today because the travel spray looked lonely and neglected. I suppose there’s a reason; I like it, but I don’t love it, and I think it’s better in the summer than in spring.
If you want a cheap dupe, EL Sensuous smells exactly the same to my nose. When I sampled Outrageous, I did a side-by-side. They are VERY similar.
Wearing Shalimar and made myself a sort-of pan bagnat for lunch: boiled egg drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette, two anchovy filets, tomato sprinkled with pepper and arugula and goat cheese on a toasted bun. The one I ate for supper last night was fantastic so I am looking forward to lunch today.
Sounds yummy!
You smell great and your lunch sounds great, have a great day ?
Wow, that sounds like an amazing lunch!
Byredo Eleventh Hour…the first time I tried this I didn’t get the ketchup accord, but then I read peoples’ thoughts on fragrantica and can’t shake it.
Ketchup? Ewwwwwwwwwww!
A beautiful sunny morning here and I am wearing California Reverie, doing laundry, and making a grocery list. I have books stacked up to read but it is so pretty outside I don’t want to be indoors.
You smell amazing.
Today I am in Annick Goutal “Encens flamboyant”. From the modern round bottle and sadly a fairly anaemic scent. The shower gel smells much richer – doesn’t last, of course – and I suspect the perfume must have been reformulated because really, no-one could rhapsodise over what it is now.
My contract in Dusseldorf (which I did as ‘work from home’ for over a year) came to an abrupt end at the end of March, when at less than 2 days notice the expected extension didn’t happen. Their new policy forbids engaging freelancers anywhere in the chain – and for some reason they didn’t state this clearly, but wittered on about showing tax & social insurance compliance. So I gathered all the evidence of my compliance and in the end it was totally irrelevant. Anyhow, dealing only with consultancies is an expensive way for them to avoid the risk of ‘false employment’ but they’re on their path and I’m on mine. :^)
Thankfully, it’s looking good to start something new in May. If that happens, I’ll be quite happy. 21 months on a tough program paid well, but it was exhausting at times. The new gig, if it goes ahead, will be 4 days a week and I think I would enjoy more time off over Summer.
I’m currently car shopping, looking at plug-in electric hybrid (PHEV) small SUVs only. Saw 20 in dealerships, test drove 6. The ones I liked best have been Volvo XC40, Audi Q3 and Mercedes GLA so I will take a closer look at those three next. Anyone here have any recent experience of these 3, with any engine type?
I’m sorry about your sudden change in employment! I hope you’re able to enjoy the time in-between gigs ok.
I looked into plug-in/gas electric hybrids last spring, but ended up deciding none of them quite met my needs. My commute is 15 miles each way, so I wanted something I could go without gas on typical weekdays and then use gas for driving down to visit my mom, a few hours away. Seems like the batteries aren’t *quite* there, yet. I’ll be interested to hear what you end up choosing!
With less than 2 days’ notice you can imagine what kind of handover I was able to give to colleagues! But other than that, the timing is a blessing. I was pretty worn-out.
Electric & plug-in hybrid cars are evolving very quickly, especially driven by emissions rules. A lot of what I’m looking at didn’t exist last Spring. There’s a big cluster of PHEV cars with a claimed electric autonomy of around 50km/30 mi. but a few have already broken this barrier. There are several models from the PSA Group (Peugeot 3008, Citroen C5 Aircross, DS 7 Crossback, Opel Grandland) around 60km/37 mi. and the new Suzuki Across (outside of Europe it’s some Toyota model or other) claims 70km/43 mi. PSA has just merged with Fiat/Chrysler so in the next few years we’ll probably see this tech in Fiat, Jeep etc.
Fingers crossed for you Koenigsberg, hope the new something in May works out!
Thanks Robin, it’s looking positive.
?
I have no input on the car, but wanted to express frustration with your old contract! I hope your next consultancy is with a more flexible group.
Frustration is exactly the word – the program wanted me to stay, I wanted to stay, there was no *actual* risk if I stayed – but the new Procurement policy meant I had to go.
At least this was just a single company policy. Back in the UK, the Govt changed the law for everyone and a lot of independent contractors have been wiped out.
Oh, that’s a pity to hear about both the reformulated Encens Flamboyant and your sudden redundancy.
Thanks Jalapeno. Both unnecessary; both survivable. :^)
I hope your potential contract that starts in May works out!
Thanks hajusuuri! I’ll have 1 or 2 confirmatory interviews this week so unless I mess up it’ll be one step closer by the weekend.
SOTD is Dior Escale a Portofino. So pretty.
Today is a deep spray of Bottega Venetia EdP. It’s cold and overcast here in Minneapolis and this is leathery and warm. This is a favorite of my husbands, he always loves when I wear it.
You smell fantastic!
I thought about wearing this today, but decided otherwise.
I’ve been craving that one lately
I sniffed that one today, but it was just a bit too warm outside. You smell glorious!
Classy SOTD!
I have been wearing my spring perfumes for a week. Though usually at the end of the day, as I am still slaving at yard work most days. Currently procrastinating on that….
Yesterday’s scent was Banana Republic Vintage Green. Today… well my new bottle of Diorissimo is scheduled for delivery today so probably that. How did I not have a bottle of this before???
I cannot imagine!
NST was playing peek-a-boo this morning, but now I see we’re all here. I’m in En Passant, and thrilled to bits to have this decant from Foxbins. I’m really going to try to slow down my perfume expenditures, but golly I missed this beauty.
And peek-a-boo then again. Hopefully we are done now.
I looked into my samples box and spontaneously chose Armani Rose d’ Arabie. I like it, but could never use up a bottle.
Made some stir fry with meat, mushrooms and pak choi today. Turned out quite good.
Your cooking sounds delicious. I had a thai green curry with pork from my favorite restaurant for lunch.
VC&A Bois d’Iris which I picked without remembering the cp, but it works great! Sunny and warm and gorgeous here in Seattle. Wish I didn’t have Zoom meetings…
You smell lovely.
I am lying on my bed (eating almonds) because I feel a little tired after my 2nd shot of vaccine.
I was in a random combo of Yardley Iris and Lush Snowcake which smelled great, this afternoon was Burberry Black Parfum, very sweet but a really lovely patchouli peach and tonight I am in Tom Ford Champaca from a decant I want to use.
I snack on almonds often. Never in bed and its sounds more relaxing
Oh yes, do try it, no crumbs?
Yardley Iris and Lush Snowcake sounds amazing! I hope the almonds gave you a bit of energy and congrats on the 2nd shot.
Thank you Gail, yes, that perfume worked very nicely.
Yay for almonds in bed and 2nd shots!
Thank you She-ra!
Glad you are able to rest. Congrats on your shot!
A little tired, not much, I hope you are able to get the vaccine soon too.
I’m waiting to see my cardiologist next week before I do anything.
Hooray for your second shot!
Thank you Sistine!
Congratulations on getting your second shot! Hope that your side effects will be minimal.
just a stiff arm today, thank you.
Aurora, joining in the good wishes…hope tired is all you get.
Thank you Robin, just a somewhat stiff and achy arm today.
Oh yay!
Wore Teazzurra this morning. Took a 2nd shower and about to spritz some Tango soon. I wore Tango the other day, yes in a 87 degree weather, but just two tiny sprays because a little goes a long way… The black pepper is such a lovely punch in it. Even in this hot weather a lil bit of my Tango feels great!!
Also STILL waiting for my 2 mini bottles of Aoud Rose that were supposed to arrive Friday but the busy postal service sent them to a 30 miles away post office… You would think they would just go ahead and deliver it Saturday or something but no, they sent it way back north to resend it back south again… All I can do is sigh and laugh at it.
And a package I mailed from NJ on Saturday afternoon arrived in its destination in CA today!
Yaayyy!!
Someone mentioned liking the new SJP Lovely You, and so i blind bought and love it. Wearing that a lot.
I got a rollerball from ebay to try, and it just reminds me how gross rollerball perfumes are. So many skin flecks floating around.
Can we pass an international law to ban rollerballs?
I think rollerballs are gross too. Even grosser than solid perfumes, which give me similar heebijeebees unless they can be used up in a few wears. I solemnly and with great feeling join your campaign.
Wearing Sintra from a generous NSTer and it’s just gorgeous!!! Lots of petitgrain and bergamot in the opening.
Everything I have fallen in love with this year is pricey for some reason ehaeheh I’m looking at you Love Extreme too. 😉 I suppose that is partly what stimulus money is for…?
I read your perfume choice as Sinatra and instantly imagined a spicy cologne zhuzhed up with the fragrance of Jack Daniels and unfiltered Camels.
I would buy that perfume in a second. Dead serious.
LOL!
I haven’t worn my La Chasse aux Papillons in forever so I’m in that today. It’s from a rollerball. I agree, maybe they should be outlawed. I never really looked up close at them, but now I did because of nebbe – erm, yuck! I will probably start to obsessively use up my rollerballs to get rid of them.
I almost always empty them into atomizers. I keep it upright for a few days and then pry off the ball.
I’d love to see some enterprising company sell conversion kits for rollerballs to turn them into travel sprays.
Ooh, that’s a good idea. I fear putting my eye out when trying to pop off the roller ball.
Sprayed on Ostara as one of my spring perfumes and it’s totally wrong today. Oh, well… Now I’ll see how tenacious it is today 🙂
Oh, why is it wrong?
Found my bottle of En Voyage Fiore Bellagio this morning and omgoodness it smells so spring-y and lovely! I was actually wondering if I like it enough or should I swap it before I put some on. Definitely a keeper!
Glad you decided before it was swapped away! I have made that mistake more than once.
Cristalle Eau Verte for me today, and it has made me happy all day. As I have mentioned probably way too often here, it will always be linked for me with my first long stay in Rome, when I had just purchased it at duty-free and wore it often, given that autumn turned out much warmer than anticipated. Only problem is that I catch myself thinking I can stroll out for a gelato after class….
Sunny and mild here today, but we, too, have snow in the forecast. That is almost certainly my fault, as I have been hand washing one or two winter sweaters every few days in preparation for summer storage. 😉
I LOVE having scents that I associate with particular vacations and trips! Rome is a wonderful place to bring to mind with a perfume. Wish I could join you for that gelato!
Seriously, that’s all it takes! Dry cleaning the winter coat before mid-May is also a mistake, I find 😉
Happy Monday, all!
1) Back to work after a muted but lovely birthday weekend. My spring cleaning got done, I read on my little patio, I did some garden and walking about in the city. It was HOT- a proper summer preview! I drank fake Aperol spritzes all weekend because it was too suddenly hot for alcohol. Am now obsessed with finding non alcoholic bitters syrups and aperitivo sodas!
2) SOTD: Prada Vetiver- perfect.
Lots of choices at Wegmans from what I can see just passing by.
Too hot for an Aperol spritz is pretty hot!
Glad you had a lovely birthday weekend 🙂
Time for one of my all-time favourites for any season – Fêtes Persanes from MDCI.
Nice.
Well, that was odd. I tried to log in 20 minutes ago to make comments, and it said I had too many failed attempts and made me wait. Someone, somewhere wants to comment as me on NST?!
Anyway, inadvertently in line with the CP this week, wearing current formulation L’Heure Bleue, which I like very much and often choose in spring.
As foxbins says, we are enjoying lovely weather today in Portland. I have a friend coming over for a walk this afternoon. Otherwise, not an eventful day, which is good.
The site was down for a bit, a few times, so maybe that’s what happened?
Yeah, I saw an error message later. I dunno. Hopefully you’ve sacrificed something not-too-adorable onto the alter of the technology gods and it all works now!
Sorry. Gross image! 😛
Ha, yes it was!
Mildly envious of your gorgeous weather. But I’m sure some will head my way sooner or later. ?
It is truly unseasonably lovely. April should not be 80 degrees. But I’m not going to complain about it today. Hope you see some lovely weather soon!
I’m in Chinatown today, thanks to the kindness of Oakland Fresca. It’s perfect on this cool, clear day. ?
I have a decant and it is a nice one!
I put on Fille en Aiguilles today. This isn’t Christmas-y to me, just tree-y, and I’ve enjoyed its green needleness on a cool overcast day.
FeA is more an autumnal scent to me. Not sure why.
Not Christmasy to me either!
I’ve just had a week off work and spent most of today wondering how this job works, gosh it is tough adjusting to a new skill. I don’t quite start from scratch after a weeks leave, but it is close ?.
My SOTD is the brilliant Eau parfumée au thé vert. I didn’t know what this weeks CP was but Thé vert is great for spring.
They are slowly getting around to vaccinating my age group, lots of hiccups with different vaccines.
If anything this whole pandemic is great for practicing patience.
Do you have an appointment? If not, hope you secure one shortly!
No, it Will probably be another month or so. Luxembourg is exceedingly well organised so I am not overly concerned. I will just have to wait.
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/lX8GG3dnsp8
Hiya NST!
Of all the things I *never* expected to do, getting on an airplane during a pandemic was definitely one of them. I thought that I was going to be saying “Goodbye” to my Mother-in-Law. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case.
She has had a couple of really bad falls that resulted in her being hospitalized. There are now signs on the doors of her house that lead outside saying “Don’t walk alone”. Sometimes they work. Her dementia is at the point where she can’t remember a conversation from 10 minutes ago. Distant events are still clear, though.
She just turned 80 last Friday. So Mr. Jalapeno and I are well aware that our time left with her is limited.
Heavy stuff to post, for sure.
SOTD = L’Eau de Chloe EdT. No perfume during my brief trip.
Welcome back, Jalapeno!
I am so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. It was good that you and Mr. Jalapeno had the opportunity to travel and spend some time with her, despite her situation. Sending hugs!
Thanks for the hugs PL67! They are very much appreciated! Glad to be away from airports for a while.
Good to see you here again with the song of the day, glad your MIL has rallied from her falls.
Hello there, Aurora! Hopefully no more scares for a while!
Gosh jalapeno, I’m sorry to hear about her falls. Pretty scary. I’m glad to see you back! Appropriate song ?
Thank you lillyjo. Yeah, those falls were scary!
So much time with loved ones has been lost during the pandemic–when they’re aging or ill, it’s hard to not notice the passing of time and the lost opportunities. I’m glad you had a chance to connect with your MIL, and that Mr. Jalapeno got some time with his mother, too. <3 <3 <3
Thanks Marjorie Rose. Mr. Jalapeno was out there for a week and was able to see his sister and younger nephew, too. My visit was much shorter.
Nice to see your post Jalapeno and happy to read that your MIL has rallied! Hugs
Thanks Petunia. She seems to be OK for now, but is so frail my heart breaks a little thinking about it.
Oh, I’m so glad you got to see her but sorry it was under such worrying conditions!!! Biggest hugs to you and Mr. Jalapeño and of course his mother.
Thanks sistine. I guess I should clarify that the falls were a while ago. It’s been difficult keeping track of what happened when.
Glad to see you back, jalapeño. I’m sorry to hear your mother-in-law is better but not well overall.
Thanks hajusuuri. She’s always been slight of stature, but her frailty seems to have been amplified in the last 5 years.
You deserve medals for bravery (flying!) and compassion (hospital!) amidst the pandemic. I’m so sorry about your MIL. I understand a bit, my stepfather is on the downhill slide with dementia. It’s hard.
I was deeply uncomfortable in the airports even with distancing. No eating or drinking in public for me yet. Thankfully, my MIL was at home and not in hospital.
Glad that you are back home. I’m very sorry to hear about your mother-in-law; it’s really difficult to watch a loved one go through this. Sending you hugs, Jalapeno.
Thanks Gail. It really sucks sometimes. I’m learning to appreciate the good moments when they happen.
That is all so difficult! Apologies if you have already said — does she live alone?
I don’t think I ever mentioned my MIL’s situation here before. She and her husband live in a rather lovely house. Nice neighborhood, too, with walking trails nearby.
Gotcha. That must be really hard for everyone, including her husband, but glad to hear she is not living alone.
Sorry, Jalapeno. It was beautiful of you to spend time with your mother in law, no matter what her state, you know she appreciated it.
It really is all about the falls. Just trying to make the home as safe as possible. Not easy.
Is there other family helping?
From what I was told, both falls happened outside when my MIL was taking her daily walk. She and her husband still live in their house, and Mr. Jalapeno’s sister lives about an hour’s drive away. Plus plenty of their friends are in the area.
I imagine that was a really stressful trip for you. Happy that you got to see her, though. The time is precious…
Thanks FearsMice.
Hello everyone. I’ve been MIA because I got five rescue cats I’m fostering last Thursday (three floofy kittens and their mama plus an unrelated floofy boy; said mama went into heat on Saturday; Mom’s dementia has suddenly worsened in a very dramatic way, so she doesn’t know me; and my brother had an emergency hospitalization in Green Bay on Saturday. I even forgot to put on any perfume today. Taking a breather now. These kittens are a lovely distraction. I have things to add to the list of programs to watch from the weekend but I’m just too tired now.
That is so much at once. Sending you and your family my hugs and energy. Please be kind to yourself right now, there’s just too much at once.
Oh, and kittens? Floofy kittens? Squee!!!
Wow. That is a bunch of Serious Stuff to be dealing with all at once. Hugs.
And hurray for floofy kittens!
I’m sorry to hear about your mom and your brother. That’s a lot to handle all at the same time. I never quite know what to say in these situations, but you can call anytime if you need to vent.
I’m glad you have the kitties to snuggle. Your IG posts are very sweet!
Yikes! So sorry you’re going through all of these with your mom and your brother.
thank you for sharing the kitten pics on insta! they make me smile 😀
very sorry about your mum. my stepdad is on the same path, and it’s hard.
Those kitties are so adorable! Thank you for sharing.
I’m really sorry to hear about your Mom and brother. That is so much to deal with at once. Sending you hugs!
Gracious. So glad you have a distraction. Do keep us updated!
Best wishes to you with your mother and brother.
And, nice timing to be a good human, too. Being a foster fur parent is a loving thing. ❣
I’m so sorry that all this is piling on you at once. It’s a bitter moment when you realize that they don’t know you anymore. She may rally a bit, though, you never know. Glad you have furries to keep you distracted.
I was in a rush this morning so I grabbed No. 5 L’Eau. Ir’s a great easy reach.
About 20% of my school is currently quarantined. ??
Yikes. That’s incredibly sobering.
Really is.
Eeek! It seems the trajectory is going the wrong way in several states. Be safe.
oh, gosh. I’m sorry, but thank you for sharing that sad news. My private tutoring and music students have been after me to start in person lessons again (really it’s their tiger moms who won’t let up). I’ve held off, for a number of important personal reasons, and news like this helps me feel less unhappy about saying “no” when I miss seeing my young students so much.
SotD = Eau des Merveilles!
because
yay for Merveilles!
and
yes to Hermes!
I’ve finished work for today. It’s over 80 degrees here, I’m going for a walk to get out of my hotbox of a house. Hope everyone had a pleasant Monday. 😀
Yes to Hermes and Yes to walkies!
ha! yes and yes, indeed. 😀 walking is my meditation.
You smell fabulous!
thank you, hajusuuri! I loves me some Hermes. 😀
I remember 15 years ago or so when I smelled Eau des Marveilles I thought it to be a truly magical perfume. To this day I love that one and occasionally I think about it. I can never understand how a salty accord could smell so divine!!!!
SOTD = Parfums Dusita Splendiris

In other news, my head feels 5 pounds lighter because, yes, I got my hair cut. What a relief! If you can stomach looking at hair on the floor:

And…I finally got my new computer for personal use (I have a separate one for work, also my own). I now need to set it up and will do so over the next few days. I was surprised that other than software, I can return within 14 days anything, even if opened, with no restocking fee!
?For a new computer and new hair!
Thank you! Both were a relief!
Nice! I felt like a weight had been lifted when my hair was short again. Hair on the floor isn’t skeevy, it’s fantastic 😀
That looked like one of my previous haircuts! Doesn’t it feel great?
Nice to get a haircut! And a new computer! Congratulations.
I always check out the floor after my haircuts to see how much I “lost”. Not skeevy at all! It’s more therapeutic for me.
If you don’t mind sharing, what did you buy? I’ve got to get a new home computer (my work laptop is still in good shape) and I’m undecided about my options.
And yes, a head lightening does wonders for the spirits. 🙂 My stylist always seems so pleased to cut long swaths from my hair, I kinda feel like I owe it to him…
Very, very late but I wore the really enjoyable Jo Loves Green Orange and Coriander. I would consider a bottle of this if they were easier to come by in the US. Reminds me of Terre d’Hermes with more citrus.
