It’s Tuesday, Thomas Jefferson Day, Eudora Welty's birthday and Scrabble Day. Happy 75th to Al Green! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Imaginary Authors Whiff of Waffle Cone, thanks to a kind reader. (It does not remind me of waffle cones, possibly because I have been eating the wrong waffle cones and need to get myself over to Salt & Straw.) Tea at the moment is Kusmi Tchaï of the Tiger.
Reminder: 4/16 will be Spring clean! Wear the perfect fragrance for doing household chores. Suggested by LisaD.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Rae Dunn Hello Spring teapot ("Rae’s inspiration comes from the earth, and she finds beauty in simple shapes, natural forms and found objects. Her utilitarian approach to designing ceramics is strongly based on the Japanese aesthetic of wabi sabi; the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.") was a 2020 limited edition, and is currently (marked up to) $61 at Amazon.
Cold and rainy today, so before I head out I am warming myself up with a little Comme des Garçons Ouarzazate, probably my favourite of the incenses (perhaps because it most closely resembles a theoretical Lutens creation — I’m sure I detect dried fruit in the top).
Well, April showers bring May flowers. The lilacs will be appearing in just six weeks.
I haven’t tried CdG’s Ouarzazate, though it does sound wonderful! Of the series, Kyoto and Avignon are my favorites. I do love incense cents..
‘scents’…. ?
Oh, I have not worn that in too long. Tomorrow!
How are you feeling Robin?
for my birthday in March a friend got my the “top 10” teas from this company called August Uncommon. Never heard of them before but today I am brewing Dark Iris, notes for this one from the website are ormosa oolong tea, dried peach, persian pistachio, white chocolate, rose petals, flavoring
Thinking of wearing an Iris perfume since I am drinking some! Don’t know if I have any “dark iris”
Oooh, please give us tasting notes on this tea!
Its very good if you like a lighter tea
My favorite so far is one called Black Metallic. Notes from the website are yunnan black tea, formosa finest oolong tea, taiwanese lapsang souchong black tea, blue mallow flowers, flavoring.
I have only tried 5 so far so 5 more to go!
I think this Dark Iris tea would be better as an iced tea since the lime takes center stage and I want to add ice or maybe a hard alcohol 🙂
Its very light and “clean”, refreshing. I wanted more rose and less citrus.
Hmm, a summer refresher with a little alcoholic punch? You’ve got me thinking…
That tea sounds delicious!
Speaking of ‘dark iris’, I’d be hard-pressed to say which I’d choose. Perhaps LL’s Iris 39 with it’s patchouli base? Imari by Avon is gorgeous but I’m sure the formula is changed…
I still haven’t chosen. I don’t have any scents to match my tea 🙂
I do have Tenue de Soirée, maybe that will fit the match!
Yes, please let us know what you think of the tea. They do sound tasty!
See my comment above..
L’Heure Blue is always melancholy so perhaps that is a “dark” iris.
That is a great choice!
I feel 100% normal but I do think I maybe have a little less energy than usual. You never have to twist my arm to get me to take things easy 😉
And thanks for asking!
My son is still asleep (!!! oh to be in your 20s again) but hoping when he wakes up that he is well too, and that he is not going to freak about the pause in the J&J vaccine.
Hi Robin, your son and I can freak out together. I also got J&J.
Take a daily baby aspirin to ward off clots.
Thanks for the tip, I am not worried (until I should be 🙂 )
The way I see it, it’s probably about the same clotting risk as the old school BC pills that were around when I was younger. 6 cases out of 6.8 million doses is not bad. So I would not worry either.
But if I was a woman under 50, I’d know the symptoms to be safe, and now that we know, I’d consider one of the other shots if I was in that category. BUT, there are rare problems with the others too!
Oops, but was also going to say, he did not freak at all.
I am under 50 and I am a woman so I did raise my eyebrows but the percentage is so small but making huge headlines. I would still have a freak out with your son if he needed too 😉 As Charlie Brown says..Good Grief!
I just now heard a doctor on a local call-in NPR radio show discussing this and he said the chances of a clot are just the same as of your getting mad cow disease, and that one out of five people with Covid gets blood clots, and so it’s way more risky.
Thanks Calypso, that’s a good way to put it!
I am tempted to but I am not freaking out.
Good.
Annick Goutal’s Mon Parfum Cheri, par Camille is a dark iris with plenty of patchouli.
Ohhh, that is lovely. And I’d definitely classify that as a ‘dark iris’.
Good morning Y’all,
Been away for a few days doin’ the Spring break thing! Wore D&G Light Blue Sun quite a bit last week and I really love it. Definitely my fave flanker of the Light Blues. Only issue is longevity; it only hangs around for about an hour….
Anyhoo, wearing Guerlain Champs-Elysées today and enjoying the mimosa/almond vibe….
well, one hour of wear is disappointing for sure! I used to love Lt. Blue until the college kids started wearing copious amounts of it.
Have you tried the Lt. Blue Intense?
Howdy! One hour is a bummer because Sun is such a beautiful version! Haven’t tried the Intense, but I do have Italian Zest and it performs much longer…..
Morning all, my SOTD is Eau des Jardins, by Clarins. Something light, green, and zippy. This is surprisingly long-lasting, with moderate sillage. I have the shower gel, it’s really good.
Putting the finishing touches on my class project and doing the readings for this week’s class on Wednesday. Only one more class and I’m done, for which I’m very happy. In H.S., I wasn’t the best student, I’m a tactile learner, and learn best by ‘doing’, reading, not so much. 🙂
Oh yay for you!!!
Lemming your shower gel. I love Clarins body products! They are the best
I do love their products, I would have my own separate shower if I could get away with it. 10 bottles of shampoo and conditioner? SURE! 😀
Good to know about Clarins fragrances. And congratulations on only 1 more class left!
Woke up in Coco Mademoiselle Intense this morning and had a super early appointment this morning. I am so excited that I have 2 Ulta packages coming today. It’s another Chanel day today and now in vintage no 19.
Hope the packages get there and are everything you hope…
Ooh.. What did you get?
Had to restock my face cream, leave in conditioner. I couldn’t resist that mini Clinique Happy travel spray set. Clinique has always been more reasonably priced in terms of perfume.
Yay for Chanel days!
It’s been two weeks since my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine, so I guess I’m now fully cooked/cured/ripened. My middle-aged version of a celebration is to go to an in-person physical therapy session tomorrow. 🙂 So happy to see that more and more of our NSTers are getting their vax!
I’m in Burberry Brit Rhythm today, which seems appropriate for spring cleaning as it is soapy to me. It is low-key and I like it okay, but that soapiness has always kept me from getting a full bottle. Still longing for my perfect lavender.
Best wishes for a happy Tuesday to everyone.
I trust you’ve tried all the major lavenders at this point? I have two that I like pretty well, but fine tuning is always possible!
Oh, goodness, I’m sure there are tons of lavenders out there that I haven’t tried yet. I don’t know that I even thought that much about lavender before the pandemic, but I’ve been longing for something over the past year and I guess my brain has just decided that lavender must be it. Which are the ones that you like?
Bucoliques de Provence (on the sweeter side, with iris, too, I believe) by Artisan
Haute Provence by parfums de nicolai ( a bit brisker)
I have not tried Caron pour un homme, which many say is a good lavender.
I think I want to try something with a little more bite, so thank you for mentioning the Nicolai Haute Provence. And, oh look, there’s a 100-ml “sample size” available on luckyscent!
I can send you a sample if you like.
contact me elke dotttt schmeling attt geemailee!
Lol at physical therapy as celebration–so true!
2nd!
🙂 My sister has warned me that I may hurt more after the session than before! Tylenol at the ready.
Congratulations on being fully cooked! I’ve seen a few articles about how once we get to herd immunity, everyone will be going out, having parties, and running wild after having been cooped up for so long that it will be the Roaring 20s all over again. Meanwhile, I’m over here thinking “wow, it will be exciting to go to Trader Joes again! maybe I’ll go see a movie! in a movie theater!” 🙂 Will be interesting to see which way society heads on this
I’m afraid I’m going to need social re-training before going out in public again. The thought of going in-person to TJs or Wegmans practically makes me giddy.
This could me be:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2021/04/08/monitor-lizard-thailand-7-11/
Ha! “be me”
Oh that’s hilarious!
I looove Brit Rhythm. You smell super good. And yay for being fully “cooked”!
Thank you!
Huzzah for both shots done and the “induction period” over with!
Have you tried any of the Mon Guerlains for a lavender perfume?
Way back in the Before Times, I remember spraying a card with Mon Guerlain and thinking that I should try it on skin sometime. Same thing with Lancome’s Lavandes Trianon, but that disappeared from stores in record time!
Yay for being fully marinated! 🙂
T’was a long and busy Tuesday. 2 Teams meetings, 6 samples packages dispatched. But I’m happy it’s done.
Now I look forward to my afternoon training.
Wearing Maison Lancome Santal Kardamon today, from a sample Karina kindly sent me. I like it but not love it. Reminds me of Atelier Cologne Santal Carmin.
Shame, Santal Kardamon sounds so good!
I wish it had more of that crunchy roasted cardamom smell.
Is Santal Carmin significantly better? I love it, but don’t love the price.
To me, Santal Carmin is much softer and lighter than Santal Kardamom.
That’s exactly what I like about it. That it’s soft and light. Sandalwood is a tough one for me.
I prefer Santal Carmin but that’s just a personal opinion.
Can you remind me where you live? I could send you a decant of Santal Carmin if you like it.
Thank you for the offer, but I am in the U.S.
If you can cover the shipping costs (not that much actually) I can send it no problem.
In Fior de Fiore, by Eau d’Italie. An easygoing, flirty Jasmine, a little simple but fun. These days, our yard is pretty fragrant, so I try not to compete – orange blossom and jasmine in the back, lilac in the front. The backyard is fairly accurately represented by Seville a l’aube, though! 🙂
Our front yard is not quite fragrant but should get there soon! Out back we do have a magnolia in bloom but it’s not near the house…I keep cutting flowers for inside but they don’t last long.
Your backyard sounds lovely!
Thanks! This is probably the best time of the year for it – it’s really small, and a bit overgrown and messy, with too many pots and a work-in-progress succulent bed due to an AWOL landscaper, but right now it’s really nice!
Boo hiss on the AWOL landscaper!
Joining Lucasai in his long and busy day. Mine started a little over an ago, to soon be followed by back to back Zoom meetings.
A very generous NSTer threw in a sample of Diptyque’s Eau Moheli with a decant she sent. What a flashback to my 20s and the ylang ylangs of yesteryear! It reminds me of the Body Shop’s (now Body Time, not to be confused with the UK brand) China Rain perfume. I am totally loving it for the nostalgia. Its an edt–it might kill you in edp. I instantly remembered the feel of my Anne Klein pencil skirt suit with its roomy but tailored jacket, both in a summer-weight wool in mauve. (Yes! Mauve!)
The other day I thought maybe I should paint the bathroom mauve! But, I couldn’t do it.. too many memories lol! I’m going with yellow.
That is so true. In our house in DC, the walls of the kitchen were mauve when we moved in. I finally broke down and painted them a pale yellow. My cooking improved!
Mauve is such a great color for a suit
I wish I had a photo of me in that suit! I wore it to my first asylum case–representing two asylees in court. And for every occasion I needed to really look like I had my $#i+ together. 😉
I had an Ann Taylor suit that was mushroomy-grayish-lavender. It was a fantastic color. Another associate in my department had it and love it too, so she would wear it only if it was Monday or Tuesday and I took Thursdays and Fridays so that we never twinned or went back to back with each other. :). I wore it threadbare and haven’t seen one like it since
We’ll get through it and it’s hump day tomorrow so it’ll go downwards towards the weekend 😉
I’m 2/3rds thru the day. An appt and another call left to go! Ayeeeah!
Eau Moheli just landed on the “to sniff” list after that description!
I’m in Rose Ikebana today. I’m working from a sample, and I didn’t apply a lot, so it’s wrist-to-the-nose to enjoy right now. I should apply more.
We’re getting a new washing machine and dryer this morning. We’ve been babying along a washer that required multiple restarts to get through a load. It’s going to be novel to start a load of laundry and take it for granted that everything is going to work just fine!
Yay for new washer!
The new washer/dryer is certainly worth celebrating! (Or even, as autocorrect helpfully wrote the first time through, “BBC elevating.”)
Hurray for easier loads of laundry!!
Yay for your new washing machine! We got a new one a couple years ago and it’s kind of life changing ehaeheh but really kind of. We had an school agitator and the new one is a completely different technology…kind of amazing.
I’m in Child perfume oil from a sample. I’ve always thought this was kind of an odd name for a perfume. It doesn’t smell like what I expected it to be. I visualized a soft skin musk, but it is a floral. It reminds me a bit of Kai.
This is what it reminds me of
https://youtu.be/zWd__w5UWVc
Nice tunes today lillyjo! ?
Oh, I haven’t heard that one in so long! Love the ‘80’s!???
In Iunx Talc, which has become one of my favorite scents in my collection. Iris, rice, musk, ambrette. Very soft and comfy. Perfect for another busy day handling a couple of more tests with mom. It is partly sunny and cool outside. Very pleasant!
Happy Tuesday! ?
You smell fabulous! I wish I had known about this fragrance before it was discontinued.
Thank you! Talc is indeed such a beautiful scent! It is a shame it was discontinued.
I never tried anything from Iunx but I know my perfume twin, a.k.a enabler Hajusuuri is fond of the brand.
I also had the opportunity to try L’Eau Blanche, L’Eau Sento and L’Eau Argentine. All very beautiful creations by Olivia Giacobetti. It is so sad that the brand has been discontinued.
Iunx perfumes seem to have become unicorns rather quickly!
You can’t find them anywhere. Just wonder if they will show up again in the future.
Good morning all! I’m in Jicky today, and smelling great if I do say so myself. I have an appointment for my first Pfizer shot today and I almost have first-day-of-school jitters about it! Hoping to avoid significant side effects with this first shot since I have a long day of pleasant botanical fieldwork ahead of me tomorrow.
I will say so too 🙂
Very good luck to you…hope it is a big nothingburger.
Good luck to you!
I had “first shot jitters” too. Good luck! ???
Now I’m having a wee dram of “first shot champagne.” 😉
Wow, celebrating in style! ?
Yay for your first shot!
Morning! I am in another “getaway” with Cherry Punk. I imagine myself sitting in a luxurious lounge sipping cherry cocktails and listening to some smooth jazz. Can’t wait till the weekend!
That does sound appealing! We are going to eat out on Sunday, looking forward to it.
SotD is Sycomore
This is such a great scent, it Is an antidepressant AND stress reliever.
Work is still busy, and stressful.
The project I work on is cursed with bad project management on BOTH sides (the contractor and the client).
And in the end….its always about the money, folks!
Luckily we are busy turning things around. And I had a pretty good and uplifiting week so far. My mood is like the weather☀️
And I try to keep it that way so meanwhile I avoid reading too much about world politics or about dumb people doing dumb things.
So glad it is a good week, and totally agree it is best to be too busy to read about dumb people doing dumb things or world politics! Sometimes they are the same thing 😉
You smell marvelous!
Jiji, you get an enabler pin – I loved Sycomore when I originally sampled it years ago, and somehow never acquired any more of it. Have just ordered a mini of it from The Site Which Shall Not Be Named.
May your moodweather remain sunny! Sorry to hear that the work project is so stressful, but it sounds like Chanel has provided you with some liquid courage. I’ve so far been unable to find a sample of Sycomore and have always been a bit afraid that I’d fall hard for it and “need” a bottle the way I “need” more than decants of Cuir de Russie. But, if your description is correct, then health insurance should cover the purchase price!
Sotd is Rodin Bis (a day late for Licorice Day since it’s very anis forward).
You smell great allo! Shame they are axing the brand.
Thank you! And yes, it’s a big bummer. I found some inexpensive bottles to help me with the loss:)
Oh good.
I’m wearing Rogue Champs Lunaire—such a pretty, creamy Tuberose. I’be been trapped in a grading wasteland for about a week, but I have nearly dug myself out and can return to reading about perfume!
Love that one.
Trying Oriental Velours by Les Indemodables today. I got their discovery set a while back on Luckyscent when they first started to carry it. Then I bought the new/larger discovery set which included this one.
Lots of myrrh and amber so far. Haven’t bought any FBs yet but this is a well done line….not poser niche. 😉
My 7 year old year daughter went back to school yesterday after over a year doing distance learning at home. Pretty surreal as I was half expecting the district to weasel out at the last minute…I felt like Kevin in Home Alone.? I said to some of my friends and family…Today is the first day of the rest of my life. 😉 What a year.
How did your daughter do on her first day back? Ours is optional right now, and my child seems happy to stay home. But as you said yesterday…. noisy office mate! I wonder if I should push him to go back. ?
She is very happy to be back at school…was in a great mood when I picked her up yesterday and today. We are lucky that she also got back into the after school program too as they are doing reduced numbers there. She said today when I picked her up how much fun she had playing today (at the after program) and how glad she was to be back at school and not home.?
congrats on your daughter being able to see her friends and for you to have some alone time
Thanks…it’s still a surreal after a year…someone pinch or spray me w/ perfume please. 😉
Sounds like you have mixed emotions about your daughter going back?
I am thrilled she is back but yes, it’s a big mental adjustment to just have to worry about myself now when I am home. The past year was stressful with me doing meetings and trying to get work done and also getting her on/off her Zooms, making sure she was doing her assignments and helping her, etc. a bit like a prisoner getting out of jail and adjusting to new found freedom…my brain has to catch up w/ the reality perhaps. And I miss her during the day of course too. She’s a pretty cute warden. 😉
Awwwwwwww!
Hang in there, mama; you and she are going to be just fine!
Things are finally melting over here…next week is my last week at work. Pretty exciting! My replacement, a more experienced transfer from another location, is already here, so even though I’ve been here seven years she makes me feel like I’m in training haha. She’s a nice lady though.
Untested sample day – ELDO Archives 69. Kind of spicy, kind of medicinal, kind of smoky…I don’t feel like it really comes together.
Love Eudora Welty!! I directed a staged production of her short story “Why I Live at the Post Office”–amazing. Sun is trying to come out and stay, so I will brighten up the day with some Ineke’s Idyllwilde.
She is still one of my favorite writers. And I have a lovely coffee table book with her photos, I will take it out this afternoon.
I’m still in last night’s Eau My Soul. I bought a used bottle (still plenty left) and it arrived yesterday. Does anyone have experience with 4160 Tuesday bottles leaking? I think mine leaked a bit in transit, it came covered in oily dried out coating of the scent, and the level of the liquid was a little lower than in the picture the seller sent me. I don’t know where to tape up the bottle to prevent further loss. At the neck where the atomizer is attached? I think if it’s leaking from the atomizer mechanism itself, there’s probably not much I can do except to always store it upright. Would love any advice!
Never had a leaky bottle from her, but yes, if it’s leaking it will be at the crimp part of the atomizer where it attaches to the bottle. Just keep it upright and use it quickly, as the poor seal will mean quicker oxidation.
Try some thread seal tape, used by plumbers to make a better seal. Quite a few people use it when shipping decants, or using them for themselves.
Robin, did you finish your taxes yesterday?
YES, thank you!!
Have to send off estimated taxes by Thursday, but the niddly parts of assembling annoying information, that’s over.
I am such a wuss! I have no idea why this relatively simple process is so abhorrent to me. If I gave you a list of the OTHER things I did yesterday to procrastinate, you would laugh. Or send me for therapy 🙂
I’d laugh, but only because I can relate. I am a champion procrasti-cleaner
Terrific that you got it done, it will feel so good when you send it off!
I can relate too with the procrastination!
It’s amazing how fun it can suddenly seem to be to scour out the bathtub and toilet with Clorox!
This.
It’s crazy! And I do it all the time! Do a little bit of taxes, get annoyed, reward myself with something fun, get up to go back to taxes, notice some annoying cleaning job I’ve been putting off, decide to do that first. Rinse, repeat.
Hello, all. I didn’t manage to post yesterday, so here are Monday and Tuesday:
Yesterday I wore Cinema. I don’t think of it as a household chores scent, but I’ve certainly worn it during chores! I think it’s now a bit too sweet for me, but I used to love it. It does last all day.
Today I’m in Micallef Gaiac which for me is a warm gaiac-vanilla-vetiver fragrance. Yes, it’ll work nicely for those bathrooms I need to clean today and later my mulching outdoors!
I love cinema, that is ysl cinema right?
Yes, YSL.
I’m working on wearing fragrances from my full bottle collection. Today is Youth Dew.
That’s an oldie but goodie!
I’m avoiding housework today wearing Angel eau Croisiere. I did grocery shop though. I’m taking my daughter to the dentist this afternoon then we are going to the Sephora sale. I am trying to talk myself into the Ellis Brooklyn Salt travel spray. I just want every beachy perfume I can find lately. So odd, since for many years this has been one of my least favorite categories of perfume.
How do you like the Croisiere? I’ve found it to be among the better Angel flankers
I like them both, and they seem different enough to have both. I just have to remember to spray lightly because I find them to be very sweet.
Do you have the 2019 or the 2020? I hope I’m not confused and that there are two editions.
I have the 2019 version. You are correct about being two versions. I was hoping they would make a third.
I also have the 2019 and it is in a pink/coral/orange star bottle, where as the 2020 version appears to be in a green/blue/purple/pink bottle. I wish they had differentiated the names by including the year, or at least version 1 and version 2.
I think there ought to be an exemption from housework for the day if you’ve done groceries. Hope that you have fun shopping with your daughter at Sephora.
You are the Mugler brand ambassador! 🙂
I am not sure, what I would wear for cleaning, either something fresh or something super glamorous… M
Went for a chypre today with Pour La Belle.
I got my new car yesterday, so drove it today for the first time. I love the new car smell!!!
Congratulations!
Hurrah for the new car!
Congrats on your new ride! ?
Yay for your new car!
Somehow yesterday ended without me posting, probably because I don’t remember wearing anything. I haven’t been sleeping well the past week so I am spending my brain power on other things. Today I’m wearing Narciso White Cube.
Wishing you a better nights rest!
Hope you get some rest soon. You smell wonderful.
Day 4 of quarantine… we are all bored out of our minds, including the dog. PHI Rose de Kandahar. Thankfully I packed some really good perfumes. Filing taxes today, as well as FBAR and CRA audit appeal. I loathe financial paperwork.
Wishing you luck with the paperwork.
I loathe it too.
..including the dog! Sorry for the ultimate boredom. I hope your tax pain goes away quickly.
I think you brought the warm, sunny temperatures here from California. Thank you!! ☀️
I had to pay $$$$ because they sent me a request for support documents regarding my foreign tax credit claim in November but I never received it… hoping they will process my appeal quickly so I can get my money back, I need that to buy my house!
You’re welcome for the sunshine. 🙂
Sorry about the intense boredom, but the comment “including the dog.” made me chuckle a bit.
🙂 🙂
Boo for quarantine but yay for really good perfumes!
Doing taxes while in quarantine…that is cruel and unusual punishment!
In Regimes des Fleurs Vines today, from the S2C Forest sample pack. This was an instant LOVE. It started out like Pulp but toned by about a third. It hung out there for about an hour, and then transformed into a mossy forest scent. And there is delicate whiff of an indistinct floral, like a flowering tree off in the distance.
Whatever RdF is putting in their juice, it is working for me. I’ve gotten FBs of Glass Blooms and Little Flower in the past couple of months, Falling Trees is the front runner in my hunt for a forest&juniper frag, and now Vines is going on my FB wish list. At what point do I qualify for fan girl status?
Drinking Fortnum & Mason Queen Anne tea and watching the sun poke out
If you start asking about fan girling, you’re probably already there. ?
Yeah. I ordered a FB of Vines less than an hour after posting about it. I regret nothing
Thank you to the folks who had shade-tolerant plant suggestions yesterday! I had been wondering if heuchera would survive, and I guess it can. And how did I not think of bleeding heart? Love those delicate strings of blossoms!
Anyway, I’m still commando because I’ve been at the computer all morning trying to figure out how to delete a bunch of books from Apple Books – they don’t make it easy, and I really don’t like that app much (Nook works better for library organization). But it’s time to go hit the shower and decide on a scent – I’m thinking Iris Nobile EDT might be just the thing.
You’re smelling great in Iris Nobile.
The weather was on the cooler side so I chose Baiser Volé essence de parfum, with its decadent vanilla.
Temperatures here have been bouncing up and down like crazy. So it must be Spring.
Floris Honey Oud today. I am almost done with this decant. I reallly enjoy it but not sure enough to get another bottle. I need to compare to other honey scents…
Headed to Denver for a company-paid house hunting trip tomorrow-Sunday. Judging by the weather forecast for the week, I’d better pack my cold weather scents!
I hope your open house went well last weekend and good luck with house hunting.
Better pack some wool socks if you have them, too! There’s snow in the forecast there… ⛄
Oh I know! I’ve packed ALL the warm clothes haha!
Tea for Two for me today – it continues to be a favourite.
You smell great!
That is a great one!
I’m wearing La Pausa edt today. It’s finally getting warmer here and hopefully should be back up to proper seasonal temperatures. Things are finally growing in my little garden. I am planting peas today so hopefully those will take. My other indoor seedlings crapped out so those seeds will have to be planted directly when the weather cooperates!
I was finally able to register for the vax on Saturday and my hubby yesterday. It’s age based registration being done in my province so at least our names are in the system. Step 1 done!
You smell great and congrats on scheduling your vaccine!
Yay on being able to register for the vaccine! Hope that your wait is short!
Yay for signing up for the vaccine!
Great! I hope you hear back soon for Step 2!
Hi everyone. I’m wearing St. Clair Scents Eve today. Just because it’s beautiful. Our weather is nasty warm and muggy. I visited Mom for the second time today in person. Sadly, she seems to have slipped a notch deeper into dementia with some troubling new behaviors. A friend told me about this, “Just when you get used to one stage, there’s another loss and now you have to figure out how to deal with this new stage.” It’s keeping me awake at night. After visiting her I went shopping, partly because I could see she needed some new slacks, but I also found some fun springy yellow tops for myself.
So sorry about your mom. My FIl had dementia so I know how difficult it is. Hugs
So difficult. Hugs.
Hugs. My brother and I are going thru something similar with our mom.
Also sending you hugs! My Mom was going through this a year ago so I know what you are dealing with.
So sorry to hear about your mom…that is very tough…big hugs to you.
So sorry about your mom’s decline. Hopefully now that she can see you more often, she’ll bounce back somehow.
Really sorry Calypso.
Thanks to hajusuuri’s generosity, I am wearing Royal Earth. What a beautiful scent!
I agree with how beautiful it is!
It’s going on my buy list!
You do smell lovely!
Thanks Nancy!
The notes sound like heaven!
I’m in No.19 Poudre after my shower. I got the second Moderna jab yesterday and woke up with most of the usual side effects. After sleeping most of the morning and some acetaminophen, I’m feeling better. So very grateful and relieved to have this done!
I must say, on the way home, I wanted to stop *everywhere*. Target, Luby’s, it didn’t matter. I’ve never looked so longingly at a grocery store before. Will probably still do curbside pick up for canned goods, but I’m really looking forward to picking out my own produce!
I just celebrated my two week post-2nd-vaccine today! I agree, I actually felt like shopping. Dentist tomorrow and haircut scheduled for next week. I have been going to the store once a week (got tired of not being able to pick out my own stuff as you said), but I go super early (6:30am) on Saturdays without many people. I think I may keep that habit, it’s so nice to have it done and have the whole rest of the day.
Hey, congrats on reaching your two week mark! I will be getting a haircut on day 14, most likely. And shopping early is a good idea. The Whole Foods near me has early hours, but I need to check the other stores and see if they have early hours or not.
I know that feeling of wanting to go everywhere, somewhere, anywhere! Driving myself straight home from my 2nd shot felt VERY difficult. I felt energized yet restless for the rest of that week!
Going straight home afterwards was probably prudent. I don’t know about you, but I felt dumpy and sluggish in the first few hours after the jab.
Yay for your 2nd shot!
Thanks! I’m pretty tickled about it.
Glad you’re feeling better! I worked the afternoon after my shot and even went for a walk. I again have to wonder if the vaccine was effective on me because of barely any side effects ??♀️
From what I’ve read, a lot of people don’t have any side effects. The hubster had no side effects whatsoever. Maybe this will help:

SOTD = Guerlain Shalimar Philtre de Parfum
Definitely a Shalimar with a lemon bergamot top, vanilla heart and powdery spicy lightly incensy resin! ?
No pic as my lunch time was cut short due to meetings.
This morning, I spied a very wet and limp package ?. It was my Sephora order (except for 1 item) and my heart sank because they are not known to use excess packaging. Anyway, I cut open the box and I must say the cardboard box itself absorbed most of the moisture but I am not taking any chances an just drying things out for a day!
I have to remind myself not to freak out about the J&J vaccine. It was a personal choice (to get vaccinated or not) AND getting the J&J one was a bonus for me … but then again, really, no long term studies had been done on any of the vaccines. I weighed possible (known) side effects vs. getting COVID and the former won out.
Uh oh on the wet parcel! I’ve had that happen, too. Fortunately, I got lucky and the box itself was the only thing that got soaked. The contents were fine.
The contents are fine but I am giving the boxes a side eye.
Philtre is lovely. I got a big dose of opoponax in the dry down which is okay with me! It seems to have fabulous longevity as well. One spray on my wrist at bedtime and I could still smell it this morning. Good stuff!
Sorry to hear about your Sephora order. Hopefully, nothing was damaged.
Nothing was damaged, just annoying.
And I do love Philtre!
Hope your package dries out nicely!
I do think the risks of not getting it outweigh these new potential side effects still.
The box is limp but the innards look fine. I’ll let the contents dry out until tomorrow and decide if I want to keep the boxes.
I was talking to security guard Dave and I basically told him the same thing. I also said if he is not getting any vaccine, he should just be ready with information on the drugs that he can take if he got exposed or God forbid he gets the virus!
No freaking! Your good vibes are like superpowers!
O.k. you can freak out as much as you like, but you know a lot of people who smell fantastic are here for you.
My father always used the word ‘innards’.?
Bright and sunny today, so many thanks to the NSTer who wished for the sun to come my way! One of the cats sure appreciated having her sunbathing spot this afternoon. ??
On the down side, right now I am hearing someone destroying the quiet with a leafblower. Sigh.
SOTD = again in L’Eau de Chloe EdT.
It was unexpectedly sunny here today as well. It was a nice break from the unrelenting gray skies.
Definitely! I will enjoy the sun while it is here.
Glad you also got some sunshine! Your kitty seems to know the best spot! They always do.
And boo to the leaf-blower! Pretty sure they are the most useless and annoying garden tool around, to say nothing of the assault on your ears. Last year in the Fall the gardeners in our complex blew the same leaf pile around 3 or 4 times before it was finally picked up. ?
Would be nice if HOAs would ban the cursed things!
It turned sunny in the afternoon so I was glad. And boo on the leaf blower!
