It's Almost-Friday, National Zoo Lovers Day, International Romani Day, plus Jacques Brel’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
Points for me: I'm in Santa Maria Novella Acqua di Colonia / Queen's Cologne, reportedly developed in 1533 for Caterina de' Medici.
Reminder: 4/9 will be Antiquities Friday...wear the oldest scent you own (you can interpret this as you like — the one you've owned the longest? worn the longest? the earliest launch date? whatever). Suggested by pyramus.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello NST family and Happy Friday Eve!?
My SOTD is Honeysuckle & Davana by Jo Malone. This scent will definitely get you lots of compliments.
House twins! That is a nice one.. how is it’s staying power?
It lasts all day on me…then again, I’m heavy handed when it comes to fragrance ?
I’m following in several others’ footsteps today in Jicky.
You smell utterly wonderful and classy!
Wearing Guerlain AA Pamplelune. I needed a citrusy scent to help me deal with the severe headache I woke up with and that doesn’t want to go away. I hope my first cup of coffee also kicks in soon!
Another gorgeous day in the 60’s, before the temps drop back again to the 50’s tomorrow.
Happy almost Friday, everyone! ?
Oh, I hope it helps. I used to get hideous migraines and found that the smell of roses helped (somewhat) (not enough).
Thank you, Paramus! I feel a bit better now. Citrusy scents are of great help most of the time. I still need to find a lemon scent that is not sweet at all.
Rose scents usually work very well on me when I feel under the weather. When very tired, iris scents are magic! Those olfactory experiences are really amazing!
When I am under the weather, tired and headachy but still need to face the world citrusy perfume and rose does the trick for me too perfumelover!
I had one of those days today and coming home I went to Dusita Douceur de Siam ❤️ super refreshing comforting rose. The Guerlain AA are so great for that too. Have you tried Guerlain Fleurs de Cedrat? May tick your box for a pure lemony scent that is not candy. I don’t own it but I love it.
I am glad you also find citrusy and rose perfumes helpful when having the blues. They are so comforting! I am taking note of Fleurs de Cedrat to sample it. It may eventually join my collection.
Fragrance helps your headache? I would think that would make it worse but perhaps a delightful smell helps in other ways
Yes, weather here in NY is amazing but the weekend looks soggy, boo.
Usually, citrusy as well as minty scents help me with headaches and dizziness. That’s all I can tolerate. Guerlain Herba Fresca is a must have in my collection for the same reason. Weird, but it works!
The rain, especially on Sunday kind of ruin the weekend already. Perfect excuse to keep relaxing at home! ?
PL67, if mint helps with your headache, you might want to check out this aromatherapy brand Saje. They have a remedy blend for migraines, Peppermint Halo, that a few of my friends swear by. I tried it a few times, and it was a bit TOO intense for me, the actual tingle. But I could see how the tingle would work as a distraction for the pain!
Thanks a lot for the info on Saje! Taking note and checking right away!
I hope you’ll feel better soon! My headaches only go away with painkillers most of the time.
Thank you, Eschmeling! ?Sometimes, if the headache takes too long to go away or is very strong I also take painkillers. I think I may skip them this time.
Hope you feel better soon!
Thank you, Lillyjo! ?
I adore Pampleune, it’s a favorite in warm summer weather.
I hope your headache goes away quickly. I used to get frequent migraines that fortunately went away with menopause (the ONLY benefit of menopause I’ve seen so far).
Thank you, SmokeyToes! Pamplelune is one of my favorite summer scents too! I only wear it in a different season if I am not feeling physically well. I find citrusy scents very comfy, especially when dealing with headaches.
I find it comforting also! Mandarine Basilic is another comforting scent. I think it reminds me a little of Eau de Camille by AG refreshing yet warm and soft.
Sometimes, my headaches were due to dehydration, sipping on Pedialyte helped.
Mandarine Basilic is also a great one for my headaches. Never thought about dehydration. I need to get a couple of bottles of Pedialite this weekend then.
Well, I’m a fan of no longer having a period.
That too!
Coffee is one of the best painkillers I’ve found for my own headaches. I hope you feel better soon!
Thank you, Isabella! I always increase my coffee intake when I have headaches. I agree with you that is the best painkiller. And I love coffee!
You smell wonderful and hope your headache goes away. I have a bottle of Pamplelune marinating in my closet that I bought in duty free several years back…it’s a beauty and I need to break it out.
Thank you, She-ra! That bottle of Pamplelune must smell awesome by now! Please, let us know when you break it up!
Bleah on waking up with a headache! I hope that it is gone now.
Not fully gone yet, but I hope it is by tomorrow!
I’m in 1978’s Azzaro Pour Homme: my bottle is from the nineties, but it still smells as it should, one of those madly complex scents from that era with literally hundreds of ingredients, all the usual heavy hitters of men’s perfumery like citrus, lavender, patchouli, oakmoss, and leather. In the end, it smells like what it is, which is a men’s scent from the late seventies/early eighties. It’s really good.
Nice
I’m wearing Emeraude which was launched in the 1920s but I think my bottle is from the 70s
Twins! I adore Emeraude…
I really love that photo. Beautiful birds.
I’m wearing Blackberry & Bay which is nearly gone already.
Next up, I’m thinking Coeur De Vetiver Sacre which should get me
thru end of day.
It seemed perfect for zoo day
Love them too. They are bee eaters. Beautiful birds with an amazing call, they migrate back to South Europe and Spain in the summer. They look so exotic and colourful they look like they belong in a tropical forest.
Commando today because I have medical stuff later on. Yesterday, I defined “oldest” as “oldest bottle in my collection actually purchased by me” (vs. a gift or trade) and wore original Stella (Stella McCartney). I bought it ca. 2005 and still love it as an easy, classroom-friendly scent.
If I feel up to it post-doctor’s-office I may spray a mystery Goutal, one of three hand-me-downs from a friend and probably given to her ca. 2000. These are rectangular bottles but not the standard AG “boy bottle” — smaller and of clear glass. I am pretty sure one is Gardenia because I get tuberose from it. Looks like they may have been a gift set; I know that my friend received them from an ex who bought them for her in NYC, probably in a nice department store. Wish I had a better nose and could describe the others in hope of identifying them — they do not match any of the Goutals I’ve sniffed, but my research is incomplete.
Good luck with the doctor appointment!
Good luck with the doctor.
Wishing you much better times ahead.
Hope that your medical stuff went well today!
I woke up craving a lemony floral, so I’m wearing Gin Fizz from a sample. Launched in 2009, so not old at all.
But a Gin Fizz is an old cocktail, so there’s that
Hello! First I would like to let everyone know that I had been away for 3 months. I will just be honest as a victim of domestic violence I had been away for a treatment of both mental and physical. But I am better than ever now: 33 years old and with a boosted ego, still young and feeling beautiful!!
Now I wanted to participate again. So just a reminder I used to own a HUGE collection – lost due to a hurricane. Now rebuilding my precious perfume cabinet. The oldest that I own and happens to be the oldest release date is probably Acqua di Parma – Arancia di Capri.
The newest addition will be Neela Vermeire ordered yesterday (my mom was so happy to see me back and soo nice to have me order a perfume on her!) is Ashoka. Purchased unsniffed hehe and cannot wait to get it! I almost got The Swan Princess though – my sample was waiting when I got home – bought 3 months ago – and tried for the first time yesterday. I had a “bad” feeling about this one… I was “worried” I would like it as much aa I did thus making it a must have soon at some point!!
Welcome back, thanks for being brave in sharing, and I hope the blind purchase will work out for you! I’ve sampled Ashoka a couple of times and like it!
Welcome back, and I’m so sorry for what you went through. Wishing you joy and strength and a broad, sunny, uncomplicated road ahead!
I haven’t tried Ashoka; do let us know what you think of it.
Welcome back, and congratulations for taking care of yourself.
I have a good friend who is in a women’s shelter now and I’m happy she is safe there but she has a long way to go and such a hard situation to try to deal with. It is good to hear from someone who has been through something horrible like this and has come out feeling healed and youthful. I’m very happy to hear about your mom supporting you too and what a nice gift that was! Hope to see you around more now.
Welcome back and bravo for taking care of you and starting to rebuild your perfume collection and the life you want! You are strong, courageous and smell great ?
Welcome back and hope Ashoka is a love…I haven’t tried that one yet.
Welcome back and hope you enjoy Ashoka!
Brava and welcome back! Leaving a bad situation into the unknown takes immense courage and fortitude. Each day, you’ll heal, gain strength, and increase confidence, some days you’ll feel amazing, other days, not so much – keep moving forward. You can do this!
I am a domestic violence survivor, now 23 years out. It is a lifetime ago, and I’m on the other side. I no longer recognize that lifetime.
And you will too.
Thank You for all these encouraging qords!! Just got back from my DV attorney’s office and ready to take a nap:)
Welcome back! Good choice with Ashoka
Welcome back and thanks for sharing such a tough situation you went thru. Wishing you beautiful things in your life ahead! Enjoy Ashoka!
Welcome back majokkobiachan! Onwards and upwards.
Welcome back. Kudos to you for getting the help you needed.
Welcome back. Glad you were able to get the help and support you needed.
Welcome back. Thanks for sharing – you never know whom you may be helping.
I’m so glad you’re here! Enjoy every whiff of Ashoka.
Good morning all,
I’m in Musc de Sables today, from my gifted to myself les indomendables set (I still don’t know if I’m spelling it right and apologize to any French speakers who cringe every time they see this misspelled!). Someone asked me which scent I liked best of the scent – so far, it’s this one, which is odd because I had high hopes for some of the other ones that aren’t working out for me at all (I’m looking at your, Cuir de Chine! All those lovely notes on paper!). This one is a bit powdery, a bit furry, like a beautiful, somewhat fragile but lovely, pale, young aunt from the 40s in a brown sleek fur coat. I’m none of those things, btw.
It’s Les Indémodables ?.
Cuir is my favourite for now. Musc des Sables was not an instant hit. How are you enjoying the others?
I thought it was you who asked before!
So – I’ve tried all of them, and Musc and Iris I really like, but Musc is more original (for me or what I have), whereas Iris reminds me of Chanel 19.
The Cuir is not my thing at all.
The chypre azul is lovely once it gets past the fresh opening.
Escale en Indonesie has too much of a cleaner vibe for me.
Oriental Velours was nice but feels too masculine for me.
The Rose I like – reminds me a lot of Ormonde Jayne style fragrances.
The Fougere was alright, and I need to re-test the Escale en Haiti.
Lastly, Vanille Havane – this would make a super great candle but I guess I’m not a full on gourmand person. However, I need to re-test this also, and perhaps wait until winter!
I agree with everyone else who said that all these feel like super high quality. But too many of them are more masculine than I like to my nose. It might be the clary sage.
What did you think of the other ones?
I did not try the Indonésie, probably a more recent release.
Cuir and Chypre were favourites. Iris I do not remember very clearly. I enjoyed Oriental Velours and the vanilla even more. I thought the rose was interesting.
I like Cuir, Iris and then Rose and Chypre though this last one was quite loud mega citrus for me, maybe a little too loud. Forgers was ok. I didn’t get O Velours or Vanille Havane and I was looking forward to those the most, I think my nose must not be wired to appreciate whatever molecules they have.
I always feel a little extra sense of appreciation when I’m wearing a gorgeous scent that I bought for myself. Not only do I smell wonderful, but I smell wonderful because I was kind to myself. This is how we self-care, perfume people.
Good point! I’ve been very diligently testing these! Funny, I was asked about my self care habits yesterday in a group setting and couldn’t come up with anything on the spot other than a lame “my job is really exciting right now” (seriously?! that’s not even fully true!). Should have thought about all the perfume.
I have a job interview tomorrow and have no idea what perfume to wear, any suggestions? The clothes are already sorted out at least!
What type of job? What kind of clothes? Maybe something subtle, like Fate, or commanding, like No 19 EdP. My go-tos.
Go with a classic (Chanel/Hermes/etc) and/or something that makes you feel confident and lovely….just not too much!
Best of luck on the interview! I would wear something something soothing to you and low key.
Thank you lovely community, will wear Champaca or Chanel 19!
Gabriela, good luck with the interview! I’m voting for Champaca.
I wore 31 Rue Cambon to my last interview. I got the job and am still enjoying it, so it worked
Good luck with the interview, Gabriela! I would go with either Chanel Rue Cambon or No. 19.
Good luck! When I was interviewing a few years ago, I wore No 5L’eau to every interview. It just always seemed to suit.
My answer is always “go commando”, but I’m usually the only one who says that.
But I think it is not worth adding one more factor that might work for or against you, and instead bring something in your purse to spray on after.
I think that something quiet and low key is the way to go with an interview scent. Good luck!
Commando!
Good luck on the interview today!
In Aedes Oeillet Bengale.
Out of sync with CP this time.
And yet you smell fantastic!
Why thank you
Off-CP with my latest purchase: Tom Ford Bitter Peach. (I couldn’t hold out for the travel spray after all, which likely surprises none of you.)
I found out that my local library is accepting book donations again, so the book purge has begun. Oh boy. So many books to sort thru.
Congrats!
What are you thoughts on Bitter Peach please? Lots of differing reviews on Fragrantica and based on the notes…I *should* like it. I bought Lost Cherry in the travel spray blind and quite like it so will wait a bit longer and see if BP shows up in the travel too. The travel sprays feel nice in the hand too.
Chiming in to say that I love Lost Cherry but found Bitter Peach different and not as appealing to me. So perhaps try it if you can. I have no idea where you are located, but the Nordstrom in Santa Monica carried it, I think, and the Sephora in the 3rd street promenade might have it (a manager there has a tester bottle he’ll let you smell, that’s how I got to test it).
I didn’t like Lost Cherry, but then I don’t like cherry as a note, so that’s hardly surprising. I love peach though. To be honest, Bitter Peach seems to be mainly persicol, so if you like that kind of peach (also found in Gucci Rush / Chopard Casmir / Mitsouko) you’ll like it. Of course it’s overpriced for a big ol’ bottle of persicol
Good to know! I love rush and Casmir!
Hello all!
Well, I had spoken too soon about my vaccine reaction! After 24 hours I had some assorted body aches and got a 100°F fever. Disappaited in a few hours though.
I’m eagerly awaiting my package from Chronotrope today so currently scentless. I bought a small bottle of Spite EdP and Buencamino. I think I might wear Spite first since I bought it unsniffed….
Stay safe everyone.
Not sure how “dissipated” got spelled like that to be honest….
Glad that the reaction went away relatively quickly and that you are feeling better now.
Thank you!
Oh no, I was a bit worried about you because of friends who’ve had a delayed reaction to their 2nd vaccine shot. I’m glad it went away fairly quickly. Fever like that is no joke.
I am very glad it was over quickly!
Glad the reaction was short-lived and you’re feeling better.
Thank you!
Ugh. Was just talking to someone who was flat out sick for 48 hours. Having my 2nd shot tomorrow and keeping my fingers crossed.
Yes, my mother was in bed for three days! Very inconvenient but at least she knows her immune system is working!
Yes, there is some comfort in that aspect of it.
Good luck, Robin!
Thanks!
Good luck with your second shot today, Robin. I’m happy to report that my side effects were limited to some brain fog about 15 hours post 2nd shot, and then some general achiness starting at hour 23, but by hour 27 I was fine, and woke up fine this morning. Hoping your side effects, if any, are similarly mild.
Oh that’s not bad at all! And might give me an excuse to put off doing the taxes this weekend, again.
Drat on the delayed side effects! But thank goodness they were short-lived.
Thank you!
Glad it was short-lived!
Thank you! I hope everyone is so lucky
Morning all, my SOTD is Emeraude, which I think launched in the 1920s. My bottle is my Aunt Ruth Ann’s, probably from the 1960s. It’s darkened quite a bit as time has gone on.
Aunt Ruth Ann’s bottle of Emeraude — now THAT’s doing the CP right.
I made sure to spritz with wild abandon!
How awesome that you have your aunt’s bottle of perfume!
Wearing Chanel No19 EdT from a vintage bottle, its one of the pressurized one. No idea how old it is. Still smells good.
No 19 is wonderful no matter what age or concentration!
Love no 19, my wife’s signature scent.
Exquisite!
That sounds marvelous.
You smell absolutely lovely!
Happy Rex Manning Day!
Testing Comme des Garcons Hinoki today and I LOVE it. Doesn’t fit the bill for forest&juniper, but this is a delightful stop on that journey (as was Sycomore). This started with a mild calamine lotion note that gave me a flashback to summer camp (our counselors must have let us roll around in poison ivy, because we were all always covered in it, and thus in calamine lotion). After about 15 minutes it turned into a pulpy evergreen smoothie.
I’m 17 hours out from my second shot and the only side effects so far are a sore arm and a bit of brain fog. If it does get worse, I’m hoping it holds off until hour 24, at which point I can just crawl into bed and hopefully just sleep it off.
I haven’t noticed a heighten sense of smell (too bad) but am wondering if maybe it is slightly elevated and that is playing into the Hinoki smelling so fantastic. I’ll have to retest this one before letting myself think about that 50ml bottle.
“Pulpy evergreen smoothie” sounds lovely! I haven’t tried Hinoki but since I love wood/tree scents I’ll have to sniff this one out.
Hope your side effects are minimal, and congratulations on getting your second shot!
OMG Rex Manning Day! ?
Love your description of Hinoki!
My BIL, who got the J&J last week said he started smelling cinnamon all day on Days 2 and 3…I told him it was puppy fur but he did not believe me. Tomorrow is day 2 for me so I’ll have to be more observant.
Glad you got your 2nd shot!
I’d believe you. One of my cats smells (faintly) of oatmeal cookies every so often.
Glad you got the J&J shot you wanted!
How is it Thursday already? This week is flying. I’m wearing Desarmant and going to HD to get garden soil. I have to keep prepping for planting at the end of this month.
Love Desarmant!
Woke up in Worth Courtesan this morning. I noticed how super leaky the spray mechanism is. It was a little leaky last year but worse this year. So I guess that this is going to be my dominant summer perfume. Good thing that I have a back up bottle. Was hunting for more backup bottles online but no dice here in the US. After having another 4 days off in a row, it’s back to work. Wearing a smidgen on CM Intense today.
I love today’s bird photo! I’m wearing Paestum Rose and wondering why I don’t reach for it more often.
I do love that one. I am wondering why I never bought it.
Also love the beautiful birds in the pic today. ♥️
In Shalimar Souffle de Lumière…and tomorrow is Friday!
Woo hoo!
My SOTD is from a small sample of mitti attar that I haven’t had out in forever. Attar seems pretty ancient, right?
Yes it does!
Commando most of the week for doctor appointments. Haven’t decided on today. Shalimar tomorrow for the CP.
Hope they are going well!
I’m wearing Boudoir, which isn’t old but seems vaguely vintage with it’s powder and pink marabou effect.
Even the concept seems reasonably retro.
I’m in copious sprays of 4711 Mandarine & Cardamom and Blood Orange & Basil today. Head, shoulders knees and toes. Hajusuuri, however many sprays you are wearing…I beat ya! ?
Was thrilled to remove the dressings after my surgery last week, and the old digit isn’t looking too bad. Lots of work to do, but I’m up for it! Onward….
Glad to hear that about your finger. To be honest when I got the bandage off from my thumb surgery I almost fainted, it looked so horrible. It went way down into my palm too. So it’s good yours seems more promising, and I hope that the healing will go well. Will you do some occupational therapy for it? That helped me a lot.
I will absolutely do OT for it, and gait training also. My right shoulder is giving me grief too, but I’m not sure how many issues they can address at once. I’m thinking it’s frozen shoulder. Maybe if I bring them cookies. Lots of cookies.
I’m sorry your thumb was such a shock visually. I was kind of dreading my “unveiling”. Did the reveal alone early this morning in case I lost my composure.
Took a shower and cleaned up the kitchen from the birthday celebration yesterday, and I’m thinking I’ll take it easy this afternoon.
You beating Hajusuuri’s sprays made me laugh ?
LOL on beating me on number of sprays! You go girl!
Another lovely sunny morning here, and my hand went straight to the bottle of Azemour les Oranges. No regrets.
Lovely!
Sampling Le Loden by Jacques Fath – Adorable hubby commented very favorably when I wore this for the first time – I like that one!, he said. On me it starts off with that fresh approach that I perceive as masculine, but it warms up and quiets down, if that makes sense, to a interesting greenish melange of several notes that smell good individually and together, but I can’t quite identify any of them. I read reviews that say this resembles Encre Noir, for better or worse, if that gives anyone a frame of reference. Now, 7 hours later, (I had to get up very early for a medical procedure, and the tech who helped me get ready commented on how nice my perfume was about 3 hours in) it is veering from greenish to twiggy, still mostly warm, a little sweet, still with some aromatics floating around. Very entertaining! This can be obtained in smaller bottles for relatively reasonable prices. I might buy this when something I have is gone.
Loden sounds fascinating. I looked it up, and the olive green juice color is beautiful. Thanks for the great description! ?
It really doesn’t smell like anything else in my collection, and those little Jacques Fath bottles are quite charming.
L’Heure Bleue EDT for the CP, as its original creation date makes it one of my oldest. However, I don’t know the year of the bottle my decant came from, but it is not marked as vintage. I already have tomorrow’s SOTD lined up. Since I don’t have any Jicky at the moment, I had to do a bit of imperfect research to guesstimate my oldest creation year perfume.
My first Pfizer vaccine went well on Monday evening, but I did have pretty intense fatigue, headache, and arm soreness for about 24 hours exactly. I had to take a sick day on Tuesday, so I’m glad I planned ahead and had blocked out my work calendar. With all that extra sleep I got, I woke up yesterday with even more energy than usual.
Today is my Friday because I’m taking a four day weekend for my birthday on Sunday. Even though I don’t have any special plans I do enjoy having extra time away from work. My boyfriend is off with me tomorrow, and then I have Monday to myself. ?
Enjoy your time off! Monday especially!
Thanks!
Happy early birthday! We’re 13 days apart…
Thanks! I know lots of people with April birthdays.
A birthday weekend sounds lovely!
I’m already enjoying not having to work today. ?
Glad you are feeling better! My J&J vaccination yesterday caused a slight headache yesterday. Today, the arm is sore on and off and the injection site is swollen but not red or hot to the touch. Reading up on the side effects, it seems this may go on for a few days.
I’m glad your side effects don’t sound too bad. I’m really curious/apprehensive about how I’ll feel after my second dose. If it’s about the same as I did after the first, then I can handle that. I’ve already scheduled a sick day the day after the shot.
And advanced Happy Birthday!?
Thank you!
Hello scented friends! Back after an absence of several weeks because I got busy, but all in a reasonably good way.
Still in Toronto and still employed, although the opening of the exhibition I was hired for has been delayed multiple times now and is now looking like May 6th at the absolute earliest.
I am wearing St Clair Scents Song of Aubrac today as despite its recent release, I think it’s got quite a classical feel and always makes my heart sing. Now that the daffodils and Siberian squill are blooming here it’s a perfect fit!
Nice to see you posting, and hearing that things are going well for you!
You smell great!
Another busy day at work. I can’t believe people aren’t out of money yet! Every day it’s non stop sales. It’s raining and gloomy today so I went with liquid sunshine Orange Sanguine?
“I can’t believe people aren’t out of money yet!”
? ♥️
? honestly!
Especially me since I buy too much perfume! ?
Obviously perfume purchases don’t count ?
I’m no one to judge what people do with their money, but it’s been like a carnival the last 3 weeks! I’m tired! Lol
Tell me more about these sales you speak of…. (I wish I had a mustache to twirl)
No need to grow a mustache, lol. We aren’t having good sales. It’s that my store has been having crazy high sales numbers since the stimulus came about.
??? on “people aren’t out of money yet!” I’m picturing a conga line of folks throwing around dollar bills like confetti…
You nailed it! This stimulus has made my customers think they are millionaires! Too bad I’m the help!?
You are funny. I suppose that’s the whole point of the stimulus $s but methinks a fraction of them really ought to be saving or paying down their credit card debt.
Or at least buy something of value! My store sells alot of junk! Lol.
It keeps me working though!
Anyway, being out of money only sometimes stops people from shopping, right?
Lol, so true.
Happy Friday eve to all!
I’m in box of eels today, and planning on wearing Shalimar tomorrow for the CP (although which version of Shalimar or its flankers is still to be decided).
Box of eels is gorgeous.
Whenever I wear box of eels, there’s a brief moment when I feel like I don’t need any other perfume.
I see your point but perfumistas are a fickle lot. ?
Smelling mighty fine in Box of Eels!
Intense Cafe from Montale was my choice for today.
I was just thinking this morning that I needed to find a perfect mocha scent. I should try Intense Cafe.
It’s my go-to gourmand. I love the the smell of coffee, but I’m only drink tee.
Wearing Oriza L Legrand Cuir de l’Aigle Russe. A very retro scent from a very retro house. I hope they survive the pandemic. Their shop in Paris is just lovely.
Oh, that would be a shame if Oriza L. Legrand didn’t make it thru the pandemic.
Yes it would be, mind you they just might be doing fine.
Wearing a couple of unexciting samples. I’ve been commando and awol since Monday when we drove from San Diego to San Francisco to visit my parents. Unfortunately the morning we left my mom fell and fractured her hip so I’ve been busy taking care of her and PT appointments. This morning was the unpleasant Covid test which has irritated the inside of my nose. Tomorrow at 6:30am we drive to the Canadian border, spend the night in a hotel, then attempt to cross the border (including another Covid test, ugh).
So sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she recovers quickly.
I am sorry to hear about your mom. Wishing her a speedy recovery!
Safe travels back to Canada!
Very sorry about your mom’s fall and hope she recovers quickly. Good luck w/ the rest of your journey and big, vanilla hugs.
Sorry to hear about your mom’s injury. Hope that she heals completely.
Oh my goodness, sorry to hear about your Mom. I hope you have an uneventful trip the rest of the way!
Hoping for a full and speedy recovery for your mama!
Egads, sorry to hear about your mom’s fall and her injury! I hope things go more smoothly from here on.
So sorry to hear about your mom and the unpleasantness of nasal swabs! Hope your return to Canada goes smoothly.
Thank you for all the good wishes!!
I’m just now reading this. I’m adding my good wishes!
Sending you good wishes for the rest of your move and hope for the best for your mom.
Glad your mom is ok, and hope you get some very well deserved rest when you’re all settled!
I’m fairly CP-compliant in Irma Shorell’s version of Crepe de Chine. I’m sure some of you folks who love the chypre genre would really like this. It’s not working out so well for me, so I’m probably going to scrubadub and go for something else this afternoon.
Almost Friday, thank goodness.
Hope you found something better Lisa D!
SOTD = Dior Dune EDT
… from my mid-90s bottle: creamy woody sandalwood amber with aldehydes. It was either springpansy or ringthing who mentioned this yesterday and I did a total copycat – thank you!
Thanks for all the well-wishes yesterday. I had a slight headache last night for which 2 Tylenols did the trick. Today, I’ve had on and off (mostly off) pain on the injection site. There may be another day or two more of side effects which I hope will be mild.
I just posted my 1,000th post on Instagram. It’s a Giveaway, US only. If you are interested and don’t have an IG account, you can email me with subject IG giveaway; click on my name to get contact info.

Good luck!
You are so generous and you smell great! I hope your symptoms disappear by tomorrow.
Thank you. The injection site is swollen but not red, so there’s that!
I haven’t been around so first or second dose? Hope it’s the 2nd one.
Lovely giveaway, too!
It’s the one dose J&J vaccine. It was my first choice and was quite lucky to have gotten it.
Do enter the giveaway!
you don’t understand – I have zero followers and zero posts. It’s very embarrassing. Is there a word for social media shame :)? Not even my own kids want me to follow them!
Congrats on getting the vaccine of your choice!
No shame whatsoever. You can email me too per my comment below ?
Wow, congrats on 1,000 posts! The unicorn poop giveaway exception cracked me up!
LOL. I really did not have much of the Parfum so had to make an exception ?.
Congratulations on your 1000th Insta post! And glad to hear that your post-injection reactions have been mild. I bet that you’re glad you won’t have to get a second poke!
Thank you. And yes, glad it was one and done. I’m thinking it will be like the flu vaccine. I hope they can both be given at the same time in the future.
Congratulations to you! I hope you continue with mild or no more side effects!
Thank you!
So glad that’s all! One and done, good for you.
Hello. Bit of excitement in our house today as a field mouse has snuck in and the kitty is fully focused on catching it (so far it has eluded her).
SotD is L’Occitane Jasmine & Bergamot. I wanted something light and bright to compliment the daffodils blooming outside.
I don’t know whether to root for the cat or the mouse? ???
I know, when cats catch a mouse it’s generally not pretty.
As someone who lives in the country, my hopes are with the cat.
Ugh, an uninvited mouse-guest!
Won’t lie, I am rooting for your kitty! One of my cats is a mouser and she only needed to catch one before they never visited again! She was disappointed, but our pantry was safe!
Not my oldest bottle but I went with Cologne Du 68 today. I have no idea why Guerlain discontinued it?
Gosh, I love that one. I have a wee sample I cherish.
therabbitsflower very generously gave me a sample a few years ago. I started hunting after my first sniff. ?
House twin! I had a sample of this awhile ago and loved it!
Wearing Floris White Rose, 1800, it’s a vintage bottle but not as old of course.
That would be a bit past the shelf date
I was searching for inspiration this morning, and majokkobiachan’s purchase of Ashoka has given me the answer.
SotD = Breath of God
Enjoying both the solid and liquid perfumes today, with fond gratitude to the wonderful NSTers who shared from their collections. Such an odd scent, but I like to keep things weird.
Lovely photo up top today. In the years BC (before children) I visited the Schonbrunn palace, gardens, and zoo. If ever I return to Europe I will be sure to visit Vienna again. Two days on that long ago trip was not enough.
Thursday already! I’m amazed at how the days fly by. Hope everyone has a few moments of comfort, quiet, or whatever you need most.
I have aspirations to visit Vienna on a pastry-themed vacation. I feel like I could really discover myself there.
ha! same for me, pastry is the language of my heart. I like to think I speak fluent Viennoiserie.
I visited Vienna around Christmastime and the twinkling white lights everywhere were so magical. I think it must be the most elegant city I’ve ever seen. And all the art! And the music! My visit was too short, also. Must go back.
Vienna is so perfectly charming, it’s all I imagined and so much more.
My SOTD is Germaine Monteil Regime, which is listed on Basenotes as launching in 1975. I used to wear it back at that time and it was one of my earliest “signature scents.” What I have now is a cologne and goes on very light but has surprising staying power and some depth. The only notes listed are tangerine and green notes. I bought my vintage bottle a few years ago on eBay. It goes on as a very tangy tangerine and the juice is bright orange, so it feels you’ve just bitten into a nice piece of fruit. I will now have a hard time figuring out something for tomorrow… my earliest scent memories of things I myself wore are sparse. Chanel and Guerlain were for grandmothers. Mom wore L’Air du Temps. But I’m sure I can think of something.
I bet you come up with something good!
I’m subconsciously continuing a Diptyque week in Olene. Does anyone else think it smells like Dimetap cold medicine in the opening?
Sadly, I’m squandering this beautiful afternoon by wallowing in stress. I was in a pretty scary car accident a few weeks ago, and we’re still dealing with insurance and looking for a new car. I just want it to be over. Might need some Tam Dao to put me to sleep tonight!
irisjasmine, that’s terrible news about your accident. The accident itself is just so stressful on the mind and body, and the aftermath of dealing with insurance and new car buying is almost as bad.
Deep breaths. This is temporary. And, you smell good.
Thank you, Lisa D. I definitely needed the reminder that this is temporary! I was hit by a drunk driver, so my already-existing control issues have been at full throttle lately…but it is always a comfort to know we smell good!
I’m so glad you are ok! I hope the insurance issues are over soon.
Oh, how terribly unnerving! I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with all the layers of stress in this situation. Hopefully you can sleep well tonight and the logistics will be sorted out very soon.
So sorry but glad you’re physically OK!
Oh no! Hope you get it all sorted out soon.
I’m so sorry you’re “dealing with” (which I always interpret as “fighting with”) insurance, it can really redouble the anxiety. Hope it gets sorted soon and you can try to put it behind you. Car accidents suck, but you’re still here and still smelling great!
That’s scary! I was in a multi-car pileup a few years ago that almost, but luckily not quite, totaled the car. Luckily, the other person’s insurance (he hit me, so was at fault for my damage) was very easy to deal with – in fact, it made me want to switch to that company!
However, I avoided that home from school route for a while, and should have probably gotten evaluated for neck issues after, as well as the kids.
So – go to the doctor if you even had the slightest headache! And I hope the trauma will ease with time.
Yes, Tam Dao, a cloud of it!
Pollen has gone wild here today. I went outside briefly for a couple of tasks, and by the end of my jaunt my nose was making its displeasure known. I’m keeping the windows and sliding patio door closed as a result.
SOTD = still in Le Labo Ylang 49. But I have something else picked out for tomorrow.
Ylang 49 has a vintage feel. It may not be very old but it really fits the cp scent profile
The pollen count is awful here as well. Fortunately/unfortunately, it is supposed to rain on Sunday which should help.
I can see Ylang 49 going with anything from sweats and jeans to a lovely dress. Very versatile.
I’m sorry about the pollen. Will it help if it rains?
Rain might actually do some good. The recent warm weather has felt nice, but one side effect is that everything started making pollen all at once.
Pollen is SO bad here too. I love to have the screen door and windows open but it’s really not possible right now.
I should have worn a mask to do those errands and didn’t even think of it until afterwards.
huh, I had not thought about how masks will help keep pollen from attacking me, but now that you say it, of course they would. I am hoping that once the need to wear masks for COVID protection is over, there isn’t a social stigma against voluntarily wearing a mask because they have been great for protection against the flu, and pollen.
My windows remain closed pretty much all year long. I know rain helps but rain helps thing grow as well – ugh.
The cats enjoy the outside air, and it is nice to have air circulate without having to turn on the HVAC. But not today!
I’m in Chanel no. 18 from a sample.
This is the second time I’ve worn this one. I liked it the first time, but I’m liking it even more today.☺️
Tomorrow is Friday! I have to go into work early (yuck), which means I’ll get to leave early (yay!).
Nice! Happy Friday!
Thanks Petunia! Happy Friday to you too!?
No.18 is fantastic!
It is!?
Hurray for an early Friday getaway!
??
High five for an early Friday exit!

Sprayed on some vintage Vol de Nuit today. Happy Friday Eve everyone!
Lots of love here at NST for VdN.
You smell great. I love VdN
Beauty!
No. 19 edt yesterday and Concentre D’Orange Verte today.
Goodness, what a week at work. Also our house is going on the market Saturday so that’s added to the chaos. Calgon, take me away!
I hope it goes quickly . When are you moving? Colorado, right? Maybe you’ll have a meet up with thegoddessrena when she and her husband move there in May!
Crazy times! Hang in there.
