Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit and happy April Fools Day. (No kidding — Donatella will be stopping by shortly!) What fragrance are you wearing?
Like yesterday's One was Johnny, Goodnight Moon (Margaret Wise Brown, illustrations by Clement Hurd) is a book that was read to me as a child, and that I went on to read to my own son. It doesn't really fit the image, but for going to bed feeling safe and calm, nothing beats Diptyque Tam Dao. (Works nicely for the wet spring morning we're having, too.)
Reminder: 4/2 is International Children’s Book Day. Name a favorite children's book and wear a fragrance to match.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
I can still smell Baccarat 540 in my hair fro yesterday so I haven’t sprayed anything new yet.
I am curious about the oud perfumes from Francis Kurkdjian
has anyone tried them?
Oh and I remembered my ?
I totally forgot, even after getting this poll set up before going to bed last night! Fail!
After shower No 19 Poudre
I only tried Oud Silk Mood. And it turns out that I can only tolerate oud when it’s used with a very light touch. It was potent, but the drydown was softer and prettier. I would have loved a bit more chamomile out of it, that was the main reason I was interested.
Oud Satin Mood was my favorite
I tried a couple of them, but it was long enough ago that I don’t recall which ones I sniffed.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! ???.
Wearing Profumum Roma Olibanum.
I will have the first dose of the Covid vaccine late this afternoon. So thankful about it and a good start of April!
Drinking my third cup of coffee after working well past midnight. I will survive the day. Planning on running some quick errands at lunch time. Hopefully, it will not rain anymore today.
Happy and healthy Thursday, everyone! ?
Yay for your vaccine, PL67! Well deserved coffee.
Thank you, She-ra!
Coffee + vaccine is a great day!
I agree! ?
You smell lovely! Congrats on the vaccine!
Thank you, Pixel!
I hope the work day is quick! Do you get a long weekend?
No long weekend for me, unfortunately!
Good luck with the vaccination! I am eligible in NY but not in NJ – go figure. My sister and BIL got theirs (J&J) yesterday; my BIL is eligible but my sister skipped the line. In her defense (although she probably heard the judgement when we spoke yesterday), her friend got them both in at a site that was not popular so she did not take someone’s place.
Thank you, Hajusuuri! I am done with the first dose. I don’t see any issues in skipping the line, especially if there are not so many people in the place and the ones there were not affected.
True, but I still gave her the side eye.
Congratulations!!!!???
I hope this provides you with peace and good health.
So happy for you.
Thank you, Annie! ?
Hurray on the vaccine!
Thank you!
Congrats on the vaccine!! Wishing you a nice evening and no side effects!
Thank you, Tulipani! Done and hoping side effects are none or at least mild.
w00t w00t w00t on you getting your first dose today! I know that has been something of concern for a while now. Hoping that you don’t have any side effects. Hugs!
Thank you, Jalapeno! I was very concerned about making my mother sick, since I am the one going outside for essentials. I am glad I got the first dose already. Next one is in 28 days days. Mom will have her second dose next Tuesday. Hoping for the best now!
I hope the vaccination went well! I’ve had my first shot and it was such a relief. Next shot is in a week.
It went well, thanks! I am glad your next shot is just in a week. Let’s hope now for better and safer times!
Very happy for you to have gotten the first shot!
Thank you!
I am in the absolutely appropriate scent for April Fool’s day, Annick Goutal Folavril. I really get the tomato leaf in the opening, which is nice, especially when you expect a lot of floral notes.
Oh, I am jealous!! Such a great scent, and yes, double points for wearing it today.
Spent more time in Theorema this morning. After having 4 days off in a row, it’s back to work. Wearing no 5 edp to get me through. On a good note, that bottle of Lyric will be arriving today.
Sorry it is back to work, Dawn!
It’s turned cold here, as in temps below freezing and lake effect snow, so I’m wearing Memoirs of a Trespasser for Laura Ingalls Wilder’s The Long Winter. That book made a big impression on me as a child! My daughter enjoyed it too.
Seriously, the whole series made a big impression on me. Good call.
Another day off from work! Going to run some errands with my brother and maybe buy a cordless stick vacuum…exciting as that sounds.
Just dabbed on some Platino by Omnia Profumo from a kind NSTer. Notes are whipped cream, coconut, caramel, almond milk, jasmine, mimosa, vanilla, white musk. Getting lots of almond in the opening.
I want a cordless stick vacuum!
Yay for finishing work earlier tomorrow! I will get home for Easter break before the traffic starts.
Today I’m in Dusita Moonlight in Chiangmai.
And happy April rabbits!
Happy April rabbits to you, Lucasai!
I just read that Prada will soon be offering, you guessed it, Prada Candy Man. The powers that be apparently read NST and co-opted your excellent idea. ?
Haha! Excelled April’s Food!
I wish this info was legit!
?
Wearing Farouche today. It’s in one of those pressurized sprayer bottles so it’s definitely vintage.
Today is my father-In-law’s birthday, so we always joke about him being an April Fool’s baby. He still fits the description! Later on today we will have a Zoom visit.
Happy Birthday to your FIL!
Thank you lillyjo! He’s a great guy; and he’s very thankful that we can see each other virtually. (He said he’s got a lot of hugs saved up for us!)
Oh Farouche, lovely.
Thank you Aurora.
Happy April Fool’s Day! We closed on our current home on April 1, many years ago; and the pet shelter claimed that my cat was born on April 1 (I’m sure they don’t really know), but anyway, I say April 1 is a good day.
Also, my age group became eligible for covid vaccines at midnight last night, and at 12:05 am my health care provider allowed me to schedule an appointment for tomorrow…! Here’s hoping that is not an April Fool’s joke. If it works out, I will be happy to accept that as my good luck for the entire year. Fingers, toes, and everything else crossed!
SOTD is Zoologist Sloth. It’s a real shape-shifter of a scent, for sure.
Yay, my fingers are crossed too!!
Congratulations! Sounds like April 1 is continuing to be lucky for you.
Happy April Fool’s! No joke, pixel. My dr said the same to me.
Wow, April 1 *is* a lucky day for you. ????
Remembered to ? ? ? on first waking, which was at a respectable 6:12 a.m. for a change – lately it’s been either 2:30 or 8. SOTD is Dryad after someone mentioned it yesterday. I’ve been monitoring the bottle for evaporation after noticing that the level seemed lower than it should have been and wrapping the neck in parafilm – so far so good!
Glad you got some sleep? 6:12 seems mighty early to me but I go to bed late.
We’re early-to-bedders. “Bedtime” lately has been 8:30-ish, but I stay awake for a while reading, and Mr. G stays up binge-watching things that I won’t watch with him. He gets up really early to monitor the stock market, and while I don’t have to get up early anymore, I don’t like making him wait too long to fire up the coffee grinder. ?
I don’t have one myself but you can buy an all in one coffee grinder, coffee maker. But of course, nothing replaces the ❤️ in every cup!
Ours is an all-in-one, and the grinder part is very noisy so my very kind husband holds himself back if I’m sleeping late.
A ha! That’s geeat!
Ooh, Dryad, such a beauty!
Hermes Le Jardin de Monsieur Li
You smell great
2nd that.
3rd.
Remember my rabbits today, yay. SOTD is Cabotine, because I wanted to smell like a bunch of flowers today.
I was diagnosed with long covid, because my resting heart rate was rising after my infection. Luckily the ECG was normal. I wanted so badly to exercise again, but I am not allowed to. Just taking walks and doing breathing exercises. Please get your vaccinations, it’s no fun!
Hoping you are completely recovered soon.
Yes, joining the others in helping that your “long haul” symptoms let up and that you feel better soon. I know you like to exercise, and I hope you’ll be able to do that to the extent that you’d like to in a couple of months or so. (I don’t know the timing for when you’ll be all better, but you may not know either.) Gentle walks, meanwhile.
*Virtual hugs!*
*hoping, not “helping”
I hope you get better soon!
Oh tannina, I am so sorry.
Sorry if I missed it or just forgot, but did you get the vaccine, or are they going to give it to you now? (Hoping you will be one of the people who have long covid symptoms improve w/ the vaccine.)
Vaccination after covid is recommended here 6 months after infection, so I will be july sadly
I just came across an article mentioning that the vaccine is showing signs of being helpful for Covid long-haulers. I’ll keep my fingers cross that it will help you too, when you get it in July!
That’s interesting. They originally said 90 days here, but now they say as soon as you are completely well & out of isolation — unless you got the monoclonal antibodies, in which case you still have to wait the 90 days.
So maybe they will also change the guidelines there?
I’m so sorry, hopefully it will be over before too long.
Arghh. So frustrating. We are all concerned about you—I can imagine how much it weighs that you have to limit your exercise. I hope you have long, satisfying walks at least. Sending hugs!
Oh no! Here’s hoping your long COVID subsides rather quickly!
So sorry to hear you have to go through this. Please take good care of yourself.
Best wishes for a complete recovery soon.
I dunno how y’all do it — I’ve never ever ever remembered to rabbit.
tannina, sending you virtual hugs and healthy vibes through the ether.
Sorry to hear that you are dealing with Long COVID, tannina. Sending thoughts of strength and health.
Sending hugs your way!
Adding my good thoughts hoping you can kick long covid to the curb! I hope you are feeling better very soon.
I’m in the elegant, powdery fruit-dotted floral, Penhaligon’s The Favourite. I’ve not see it worn by anyone else here, but it is a favorite of mine—Much the way Le Cri is—they fill the same niche. (They feel the same to me; they do not smell the same!) Sophisticated, pretty, and perfect for a sunny day that is not too warm. It feels like a perfume that a mother would have worn in a Victorian or Edwardian children’s novel–Yesterday I hailed E. Nesbit, today I am remembering Joan Aiken’s good mothers–well specifically Bonnie’s mother in the Wolves of Willoughby Chase. (Maybe I was thinking of that book this morning because I re-watched the Emma Thompson/Hugh Grant version of Sense and Sensibility last night—and you know, John Willoughby . . .) And while I am on this tangent–the iniquitous John Willoughby was played by the actor Greg Wise who in real life later married Emma Thompson.
House twins.
The Favourite feels exactly like that – Edwardian, elegant and pretty.
I haven’t tried that one but I have several favorites from Penhaligon’s! And I loved both E. Nesbit and Joan Aiken as a bookish child. I still have many of their books. I’m sure you smell lovely!
I received a call this morning from a friend and retired colleague that a former coworker passed away due to COVID.
I am happy to read that many of you are getting vaccinated.
SOTD is Iris Shot.
I’m sorry for your loss Petunia.
Sorry to hear this
Oh no. So sorry to hear this. I am no longer in the rosary brigade but my sister was telling me that one of her former classmates recently died from COVID as well. It seems the ones now dying are younger. So sad.
That is really sad. Why is this happening, I wonder?
My morbid speculation – many of the older people have already died and some people have relaxed their vigilance. I also wonder if the new variants are more deadly?
Morbid speculations welcome, here. I prefer to plan ahead to keep safe.
Good point on many older folks passing, as well as others being much more relaxed.
I hope these variants aren’t the cause. I really hope if they are, the vaccines will be successful against them.
My condolences.
Sorry for your sad news.
So sorry to hear about your loss! It’s terrible news, please continue to stay safe everyone!
Thank you everyone for your support. The woman who passed retired about ten years ago. I wasn’t in touch with her because she moved out of state after retiring. Still, I am sad that she passed in this manner. She is the second person that I worked with that passed away due to COVID. They were both retired and much older than I am.
My sympathies on the passing of both your former colleagues, Petunia.
I’m sorry. It’s hard to remember, in all the joy over vaccines, that COVID-19 is still very much a threat and causing new hospitalizations and deaths. Stay careful, friends!
I’m so very sorry to hear about your colleagues, Petunia.
Wearing a sample of CdG Rouge, and definitely getting cinnamon. Retrofitting the CP, I will pair it with Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes, which has a…different take on little red riding hood…
I cannot remember that Roald Dahl! But was thinking about James and the Giant Peach today.
Wearing Zoologist Koala for an early walk through NE Portland. Trekking to a rental car place so we can get to the showings we have scheduled here and in Vancouver. Yesterday I wore Honey & Lemon by J-Scent which was giving me Theraflu vibes.
Hope everyone’s good!
What do you think of Koala? I’m scared of the eucalyptus and haven’t tried it yet.
I like it! But it does have that medicinal/camphorous note in it for sure.
I remembered to rabbit at 5 a.m.. unfortunately my brother’s dog woke me up at 3 a.m, so my first words were not rabbit! Lol. It’s cold here and we had some snow this morning. Today is opening day for Tigers baseball. I think are high will be 38 degrees! Sotd is Angel Muse.
You smell wonderful, esp for a cold day.
Thank you! It’s still wafting on!
The rabbits count because the dog is not normally there!
And you smell wonderful!
I knew you would have my back ?
Always, my dear!
Hey, lillyjo!?? Sorry about the weather, but Happy Opening Day! Good luck to your Tigers. To paraphrase Jimmy Dugan: May their feet be swift, may their bats be mighty, and may their balls be plentiful.?
Thanks! We won! Plus some fans actually got to go to the game!
??I saw video of Cabrera’s slide into 2nd on his homer in the snow.? Ah, Spring.?
Ugh! Temps here are dropping as well. I heard that we may possibly get snow as well. At least you smell great!
Yeah, it was 23 degrees when I left for work this morning. Muse was perfect.
LOL at “not rabbit!” I’ve done that a couple of times when the cats have decided that an early morning is on the day’s list of activities.
I remembered you had posted about one such incident!
Fortunately, there hasn’t been an early morning barfing incident for a while now. Hoping that continues!
I’m wearing Aqua Allegoria Orange Soleia. Hurry up Donatella, I need to confess and clear my conscience!
This morning during our early-morning snuggles, my son announced, “You don’t really smell good.” We determined that the offender was my Rose Delight body oil, which to me smells objectively wonderful, but I guess there’s no accounting for taste. It’s left me a bit uncertain as to how to proceed, fragrance-wise, so I’m still commando other than my Rose Delight.
Ha! Gotta love the honestly of kids. I bet you smell great, though.
Could just be that you didn’t smell like mom there for a moment while he was looking for that familiar embrace.
Ouch! I’ll sit next to you anytime. I’m sure you smell lovely!
I remembered to rabbit when I got up, but then realized that I went to bed late and didn’t rabbit after midnight. Oh well.
SOTD is ELdO Like This, for Cinderella’s pumpkin. One of my absolute favourite books as a young child was Marcia Brown’s illustration of Cinderella — the drawings were so singular and so beautiful. I’d taken it out of the library again and again, and then forgot about it until I was in my 20s. I couldn’t remember who the author / illustrator was and couldn’t find it anywhere online in the earlier days of the internet when searches just turned up every version of Cinderella ever published. Thankfully I ran across it in Curious George Goes to Wordsworth in Cambridge one day, while shopping for nieces and nephews, and snatched it up just in case I should ever have a kid to read it to.
Great pairing!
I am wearing TF Bitter Peach this morning. Yesterday was so nice I cleaned off the patio. It had become a repository for stuff that wouldn’t fit in the garage and stuff that I thought I would use but didn’t. I put a big pile of discards out by the curb–the big dog bed, the pet steps, an ergonometer, and a patio table and two chairs. Before I could get it posted on Nextdoor one person had taken it all. Today I am tackling the back yard and setting up two more raised beds, cutting up the branches that fell in the ice storm, and washing the windows on the back of the house.
Oh, isn’t it lovely to get those sorts of tasks done? And to have someone take everything right away! I usually end up doing an awkward dance with Craigslist people or the kids swap & shop Facebook page moms to try to get rid of things, and it’s usually more hassle than it’s worth, but I can’t stand throwing out perfectly good stuff.
I love getting work like that done in the spring. What will you plant in the raised beds? Palmdale (my current desert location) isn’t very garden friendly in a lot of ways- hoping to do more when I move to Colorado.
I will have strawberries and tomatoes in the first two and I think herbs and lettuces in the new ones. I’ve driven through Palmdale–hot and dry! Colorado should be much better for plants, plus skiing in the winter!
The thing about Palmdale is the temps are just SO extreme. Up to 115 in summer but down into teens or 20s in winter. Not a lot of things can take that difference! Colorado should be a bit more balanced lol
Maybe a picker saw the stuff that you had put out on the curb?
I like Bitter Peach, I have a decant I’m enjoying. Wow, good for you getting all those tasks done! We installed two raised beds this year and I’ve finished tilling both and have mulched one. All I’ve planted so far are peas, shallots, and sweet peas. Got a lot of work in store for me this weekend!
Happy April, fragrant friends! Trying to think of a good trick to play on my hubs- y’all help me out haha.
I’m in Le Lion today for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I was obsessed with the Narnia books as a kid. I still have my whole set of them.
That’s a good one!
Oh, that is a good one!
And yes- I was also way into Narnia series as a kid!
Tell him the Colorado job has been swapped for Australia ?
I still have all the Narnia books too!
Perfect! I’m another Narnia fan. I have multiple sets because I have my own, I got others for my three kids, and I have a backup or two for (hoped-for) grandchildren some day. No, none of my kids are close to that stage, but hey — I am READY with books!
Hello, lovely NST folks!
It’s been a fairly busy week or two for me. I worked outside in the yard as much as I could during the nice days. I probably mentioned that I did “Plant a Flower” Day a week late, by digging up daffodils and switching them to different places, and digging up and replanting some iris rhizomes.
Monday I got my first Moderna vaccine shot. It was relatively painless at the time. When I told the person who administered the shot that I had allergies and asthma, and sometimes I start wheezing, she said that I should wait half an hour. It was still not bothering me when I left, but then it hurt that evening and well into the next day.
I wasn’t really wearing fragrances that much, especially not while working outside. In the evening, I used Lush’s “Charity Pot” lotion a few times.
Flower fragrances: Mahonia and winter honeysuckle. Yesterday I picked a stem of a ‘Roman Blue’ hyacinth, which is more like a wildflower than a more modern type of hyacinth. The scent is of cinnamon or incense.
Hello fellow gardener!
And despite the pain, hurray for the vaccine!
And the Charity Pot lotions tend to richly scented- no real need for additional scent!
Hello back!
I’m glad to have gotten the vaccination process started.
Yes, some of the hand creams and lotions I’ve been using lately are scented. Between frequent hand-washing and working in the garden, my hands need all the moisturizing they can get.
So glad you got your shot! I need to dig up some Japanese iris, but hard to say if that will happen this year.
I have a good amount of garden flowers that I ordered in the winter coming my way any day now.
I have to figure out where to plant them. I have ideas, but not a firm plan.
Thanks! I’m glad, too. I hope you’re able to schedule your vaccination soon, too.
Glad to hear about your first shot, but bummed that you ended up with a sore arm.
Thank you! I figured a sore arm was a relatively small issue in the scheme of things.
I’ve had flu shots that hurt in a more localized way for a couple of days, so I wasn’t emotionally bothered by having some pain. I hope you can get your shot soon.
Oh, and as you could see from my description of asthma above, I already have respiratory issues, so I’ve been feeling pretty vulnerable lately. That’s another reason I’ve been anxious to start the vaccination process.
My asthma had been getting triggered pretty badly in the past several weeks when we stirred up dust and mold, especially when Mom was discarding old but not classic books from the church library by ripping the covers off so she could recycle the pages. To be fair, I also stirred up allergens from looking through my own dusty books. My doctor prescribed an albuterol inhaler and a six-day tapered course of prednisone, both of which helped a lot.
Hooray for getting the first shot!
Thank you!
I loved Goodnight Moon. It’s my default baby shower gift if there is no gift registry.
SOTD = Jo Malone Scarlet Poppy Cologne Intense
In the RED bottle! The scent has no resemblance to the 2018 Poppy and Barley in the very nice 2-toned sandstone bottle. Scarlet Poppy is musky, sweet, powdery and nutty; also has some vanilla (from the heliotrope) and coconut (from the fig) facets. Overall, ?.

I am taking tomorrow afternoon off. Hopefully, Costco won’t be too crazy – I haven’t been there for quite a few months and I have just been buying smaller sizes of stuff I use – I better have my list ready.
In other news, I don’t know if I should be flattered or concerned. I posted about Yu-Be hand cream in Yuzu Flower scent a month or so back. I recommended it from the standpoint that it ticked all the right boxes for me in a hand cream, the most important of which are Does it moisturize well? and Does it smell nice (or has no smell)? The company decided to repost the picture and an extract of my posted comment. While they credited me for the re-post, and I don’t mind that they chose to not quote from the beginning, they changed the text ever so slightly, but put everything in quotes. I think if a company decides to use quotes, they should not alter the text, other than to notate wrong grammar and/or spelling with [sic]. Here’s the repost.
My original post was on March 2nd.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CNIZAWPHXOl/?igshid=1dkqe2d586r78
What do you think? Am I being too sensitive?
1) Costco is a beast! Have your list ready AND DON’T BE DISTRACTED.
2) Companies do things like this so that they are not liable for actually paying for a sponsorship. It’s…a dumb thing, but understandable.
I want to be in and out of Costco within 90 minutes!
No, I don’t think you are being sensitive. That’s my jam.?
Did they contact you ahead of time? You are a stickler for grammar and language usage (and I mean that in a really complimentary way).
They don’t need to contact me as they credited me for the repost. I was just not happy with the changes they made to my comment and made it look like that was exactly how I wrote my message.
I don’t think you’re being sensitive! Did they ask for your permission to repost?
They don’t need to ask for permission as they reposted and gave me credit. I just have an issue with the quote. I suppose I can DM them but it may not be worth my time.
I personally think that quotation marks should be used only if it is an exact word for word re-tell. So, no I don’t think you are being too sensitive. But punctuation marks seem to get misused a lot these days (giving the apostrophe some side eye).
You’re right about the exclamation points.
I love exclamation points!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with what the use of quotations entails. And the apostrophe – oy! I blame its misuse on spellcheck.
I was taught quotations are for repeating something that was said word for word. If it’s altered, I think you are suppose to use brackets to say you are paraphrasing.
I really like your Sotd. I sampled it awhile back and thought it would be lovely for spring.
Looks like you are on your way to becoming an influencer with the repost?
Yep on the quotation marks.
Scarlet Poppy was a large sample and I’m glad it worked out.
As to becoming an Influencer, I know what you mean but it’s not something I want to be. With perfumes, it has a negative connotation due to the aggressiveness of many AND lack of transparency.
The company must have noticed you are excellent with language, have a following and are fun.
Why change anything?
Usually if I’m putting a quote in someone’s mouth, I clear it with them ahead of time. (Usually it’s execs who are happy to have the quote written for them…but even then, I have to know their quirks and tone.) If they didn’t clear the changes with you ahead of time, and they put it in quotes, that’s bad form.
Wearing Jaipur by Boucheron as a reference for James and The Giant Peach. The peach here is big and glowing, in that Sophia Grojsman way.
I really loved that book!
Hello all!
2) Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit! And a day for Fools! *points to self*
2) Beautiful and sunny days for this week! I did a spring clean up of my veggie patch, built a new box, and sowed seeds directly in instead of doing starts. I still need to decide where i am gonna put the peony starts- they are growing FAST.
2) SOTD: Red Apple & Peony& Cashmere Woods from Beauty Pie. Perfect and easy to wear right now.
Wow, you got a lot done. Good luck with the seeds!
Feel relieved I have done my duty by Donatella, fun to see what goodies were purchased by all.
More ? applesauce cooling on the hob, wearing Penhaligon’s Hammam Bouquet.
I froze so much apple sauce last year that I may not need to make any more for ages! But I do love that smell.
Oh, that’s a great idea to freeze some, yes, it smells so delicious, I bet your apples are wonderful, we have really good ones in the UK too.
Forgot to ? ? ? last night after midnight and it is already turning out badly. Must have hit “end alarm” instead of “snooze” this morning, because I woke up 8 minutes after the start of a morning conference call, to the text alerts from a colleague asking if I was going to join. Afterward I tried out my sample of Esentric 04, and oh boy I do not like it one bit. I get none of the citrus that others seem to find, but I do get an unpleasant stale oil note that I’m assuming is mastic? No thank you.
I have confessed to Donatella, and will ? ? ? after midnight tonight. Fingers crossed it will get me a re-set!
I’ve been there with virtually no time to change so I just wore a sweater over jammies. These days, I actually have to turn my radio alarm to LOUD to jolt me awake. I just have to remember not to fall back asleep after I turn down the volume.
Easter Friday here, it’s a public holiday. I’m lazing on the couch with a cat on my lap, indulging myself with lots of NST. No perfume yet, but I’m thinking about Dryad or OJ Woman, either seems suitable for a series of books I loved as a teenager – The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper. I have the books and must re-read them soon.
Oh, I love those books! Did you also like the Green Knowe series?
Hey, hey, hey, my perfume peeps! Happy April!
I remembered to rabbit, so that’s a minor miracle. I’m on Day 3 (4?) of a sinus headache, we have a red flag warning, and it’s supposed hit (and exceeded) 90° for the first time today.?
…But, you know what? It’s Opening Day—and there are actually fans in the seats!⚾️ Huzzah!!? So, I’m wafting my OD go-to, Dzing!
Have a great one, y’all!
We won here! How did your team do?
Alas, ended up losing. But, hey, 161 more to go.?
Today I’m wearing a sample (courtesy of a kind friend) of And the World is Yours by A Lab on Fire. It’s a cozy, rich, slightly gourmand orange blossom, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s something I’ll ever need more of. I love OB, but already own several iterations, and I might prefer to eventually replace my dwindling LAP Séville à l’Aube when the time comes. This one is perhaps a bit soft-musky for me.
I do like a slightly gourmand orange blossom! I want the one by Kerosene, and now I can’t even remember what it’s called.
Wearing the subtle and pretty Belles Rives. I’ve got 5 days off work. Forgot to rabbit this morning. It’s been a while since I remembered to do so.
Enjoy your rime off!
Ugh, Time off!
Yay for 5 days off!
I sort of remembered my rabbits. Does within 15 min of waking up count?
I’m in JM Honey & Crocus after hajusuuri reminded me of those gorgeous stone-and-ceramic bottles. Our high here is 85 and sunny; it feels like a perfect summer day despite the spring flowers all around.
You smell nice! I love those bottles too!
Pretty sure that means you will have sorta good luck
Started the workday in O Unknown! and have enjoyed the rooty iris. Like most scents, I’m wishing it lasted longer on me. Might have to layer with ISM which I have here at work.
How about more sprays?
I might have only done 6. Fatal error. At least 2 more next time.
LOL!
???!
I “rabbited” multiple times today, so if anyone forgot, feel free to borrow a set. ?
Got chilly and blustery overnight here. I am so glad that I did not yet take off the extra blanket from the bed! ?
SOTD = ELdO’s Fils de Dieu… from the sample stash. It’s a favorite cold weather perfume for me. It’s been lingering on the FB wish list for a while now.
I completely forgot, so I will borrow one of yours – thanks.
?
You smell great Jalapeno! I’ll be glad to borrow one of your extra rabbits.
Thanks Petunia! ?
You smell nice! I needed an extra layer for my walk today vs. yesterday’s!
Thank you! It sure was raw out there today. My windows were rattling a few times this afternoon from the wind. Brrrrrrrrrrr!
You smell great! It’s a bit of a sleeper scent.
Thanks Gail! Definitely hear a lot less about ELdO perfumes than I used to.
Didn’t get around to posting yesterday but I paired Durga with Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst. Durga is a bubblegum tropical white floral that is so cheerful, I thought it matched with the gum that gets stuck in Alexander’s hair plus I think it’s an antidote to a very bad day.
I think I cursed myself because I am having a mostly bad day today. I had a bit of neck pain in the upper left side of my neck yesterday and the pain set in overnight and feels a lot worse today. Pair that with bad sleep and sinus pressure, and blech. I took half a sick day from work.
I also managed to choke on a large drink of coffee and spit it out everywhere – laptop screen, desk, pine, iPad, both shirts and the pants I was wearing, and the floor! Upside is the clothes were all dark, so the staining shouldn’t be a problem.
This is already a long post, so I’ll talk about today’s perfume and book pairing tomorrow.
Oh no, sorry to hear about your no good, very bad day!! But tomorrow’s another day, and it will be Friday!!
Nooooooo! That was indeed a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day! I hope tomorrow will be better!
So sorry about your bad day and I hope things are looking up with the beautiful pink clouds on this Spring Seattle evening.
Wow, you did get cursed by your book pairing! Sorry.
I remembered to rabbit this morning, two months in a row now!!
I got my haircut today, it felt wonderful. Last time in July, so it was long overdue. And I’m wearing Eau My Soul, thunking my sample because an almost full bottle has been purchased! I will head over to Donatella’s soon for a full confession. ?
Hurray for the haircut! ✂
Congratulations on a haircut! My last one was in June; about a month ago, out of desperation I finally had to get my hubby to give me a trim. I can’t wait until I can go for a proper cut and color (and see my stylist)!
My last one was in October. I had taken to wearing my hair in a ponytail occasionally.
In honor of rabbits and children’s literature, I’m wearing 4160 Tuesdays’ White Queen today and will wear Red Queen tomorrow! And I’m not answering Donatella’s poll because — I went down the rabbit-hole at the end of 2020.
Perfect pairing!
P.S. I started out the day in 4160 Tuesdays’ Le Jardin de M. McGregor, another rabbit reference to children’s literature.
