Happy Foody Friday! (And, the equinox is tomorrow!) Our community project for today: wear a gourmand or foody fragrance (this is a repeat project from 2015).
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm doing biscuits (Dries Van Noten par Frédéric Malle) and soda (a dab of Demeter Gingerale).
Reminder: 3/26 will be Guessing Game Friday, edition 4. Describe your perfume to us, OR, give your perfume the name it ought to have had, and we'll see if we can guess what it is. Suggested by Glannys.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Happy day all! Been a busy week, but I have tried to participate in the cp. I wore Empressa on Wednesday for the peach note, and Outremer vanilla yesterday. Today I’m going with Bronze Godess for the coconut ?. I’ve had a very beachy/tiki vibe all week, and really enjoying it!
Beachy/tiki vibes are a good thing 🙂 !
Yep! Great motivation for my spring cleaning/planting.?
Outremer Vanilla is one of the best cheap thrills ever!
Very much so!? I have a FB and a travel size from anthropology. Got their Cola from Smallflower apothecary, it’s great for summer, or layering with something like Youthdew bath oil.
Agree…a great, cheap vanilla.
You smell wonderful. I will have to dig out my little BG rollerball!
Loooove Bronze Goddess! You smell amazing.
Good morning!
I went with Demeter Condensed Milk late last night/early this morning. 😀 I smell yummy again.
Yes you do!
Sweets for the sweet!
Aww. 🙂
Ooh that sounds amazing!
I’m in the foodiest scent I have ever owned, SL Jeux de Peau, which smells like a profusion of baked goods in a bakery made entirely of sandalwood. It was instant love: I bought it at first sniff and it’s one of my top-five Lutenses, maybe one of my top-ten scents ever.
I should put on some Gingerale when I get home! It’s magic.
Seriously love the smell of baked bread especially. Even walking by the Subway sandwich shop which is wafts the smell of warm bread makes me happy 🙂
Yes, and baking it yourself is even better. Like a lot of people I started baking more when the lockdown happened (a year ago today, where I live). It’s such a lot of work but there is nothing quite like walking into a home redolent of freshly baked bread.
I adore this one! Some days it’s too sweet for me, but other days it’s just right.
The funny thing about Jeux de Peau is that even though I know it smells of sweet pastries and brioche, it doesn’t *read* as sweet to me, at all, unlike some unrelenting sugar bombs I could name. I think the dry sandalwood tames it or something.
You sound delicious!
Excellent description. Wish there was a sandalwood bakery near me 😉
I am commando, and will stay that way. On Tuesday I got my second vaccine, and then went to lunch. By the time I got back to work I was vomiting and had a lot of stomach pain. I’m back at work today, and with ongoing stomach issues, I cannot bring myself to consider wearing any scent. I was considering either Demeter Tomato, or Demeter Beetroot.
Oh gosh, I hope you feel better soon. Feeling sick to your stomach is awful, and even worse if you are at work.
Ouch, I hope you feel better soon! I hope it resolves quickly. Pedialyte is a life-saver when I am dehydrated, the pops for kids taste better than the regular drink.
Hope you feel better soon!
Same reaction my sister had, both when she had COVID last Fall and from the vaccine. Good news is, the vaccine issues passed pretty quickly.
Oh, ugh — so sorry you have to experience tummy woes! I hope it passes very quickly!
I hope your stomach settles soon, PriscillaE. You’re wise to not wear any fragrance, avoiding any scent association with this illness!
I hope you feel better soon.
I also received my second vaccination on Tuesday. I had slight nausea and severe stomach aches for most of that night and into the next day.
I hope you recover quickly. I am struggling with headache, achy joints, and low grade fever in the 24 hours after my second inoculation. I am certain it will pass.
Oh so sorry! I had that with the first dose. For the second the doctor advised a week of Benadryl, Claritin or Zyrtec and Prevacid every day. We’ll see how it goes. Plus Pedialyte pos of course. Feel better soon!
Oh my, hope you recover quickly.
Sending good wishes and positive energies your way hoping you’ll feel better soon, that your workday passes quickly and you can go home and rest. ?
Poor you! Hope it passes quickly.
I hope you feel better soon!
Hope you feel better by now; glad you shared this information because although I don’t want to talk myself into anything, I have heard that the second shot, which I have in two weeks, is a kicker. Forewarned is forearmed!
Ugh. Sorry to hear that you are feeling some unpleasant side effects from your shot.
So sorry — I hope you feel better now or this weekend. I just had my first shot, so relieved. I don’t know how I’ll react to the second, but my doctor friends tell me that feeling poorly after the second shot means your immune system is doing what it should do.
Oh nooo! Glad you’re feeling a bit better.
Sending recuperative wishes!
TGIF!
I am wearing Prada Candy Night a super realistic chocolatey Candy! All I need is a slice of Nutella toast and I am complete… ??
That’s a good one! Super chocolatey.
I’ve never smelled this, but “realistic chocolate” is one of my triggers, in a good way. I guess I need to check this out.
I’ve never smelled this one but it sounds delicious! I was anosmic to the original Prada Candy so never bothered with any of the flankers.
Hi there, perfume cousin!
Wearing Dame Chocolate Man. Yummy!
Having a cup of salted caramel hot cocoa on this cold, windy day and counting the hours for the day to be over.
Happy Friday! ?
Salted caramel hot cocoa sounds delicious!
It is! I hope my coffee doesn’t get jealous to hear this! ?
LOL, PL67!
?
Happy Friday, pl67! I’ve been enjoying hearing about your daily coffee + spice combinations all week, and now this hot chocolate has me drooling.
Thank you, Tulipani! I try to make my coffee time pleasant, since I have several cups a day. I got instant salted caramel hot chocolate at the supermarket yesterday and it is delicious!
I’m with you on salted caramel ❤️anything and Dame’s Chocolate Man❤️; I wore that earlier this week.
Same here! Anything salted caramel is a must have for me! ❤
Cold and windy weather twins! I was happy to hear the wind dying down as the afternoon wore on.
It is still very windy here. I hope it is better tomorrow.
Smart combo, Robin!
Me, quite boring.. again wearing Gourmand Coquin. Love this one.
Sunshine outside, still quite cold but happy for the blue sky and sun.
Happy Friday!
If it’s delicious, which it is, no shame in sticking with it!
And we are twins!
Another lover of Gourmand Coquin. It’s such a lovely smell, I totally understand the addiction!
I just wish it lasted a little bit longer.. it’s a skin scent on me pretty quickly. I wonder if it gets stronger the longer it macerates?
If the perfume you’ve been wearing is making you happy, it ain’t boring!
Wearing a dab of Theorema in all it’s spiced citrus awesomeness. I can’t wait until we get temps in the 60’s.
You smell marvelous!
You really can’t beat Theorema. It’s always the right answer.
I am cooking up a storm, preparing for Norooz. We celebrate spring, the Persian way, so I am busy chopping herbs.
I am copying SmokeyToe’s Chanel week, and yesterday I really enjoyed Coco and today I am in Coco Mademoiselle EdT and somewhere I have the night bedtime spray that I will add later.
At this moment I have watering eyes, all I smell is chopped onion. I am going to wipe my tears and come back to comment later..
I hope you have a good celebration! 😀
Thank you! Happy spring to you and yours
Joining you in Chanel week!
OH nice! I love herbs in a salad, and the fragrance is so refreshing! If I remember correctly, Persian New Year is tomorrow?
Come to think of it, I may make a batch of Adas Polo, one of my favorite dishes. 🙂
Let me know if you do!
I will! It’s one of my absolute favorites!
What do you think of Coco Mlle. I am now out of Coco Noir and Mlle. But have plenty of regular Coco. I am wondering if I should repurchase Noir or Mlle. Or just save my pennies for another fragrance. My birthday is this month…if you get my drift!
My vote is for either the original Coco, or Coco Noir. I prefer the spicy, woods, vanilla, and amber accord, I think Chanel does it beautifully. Mlle falls a little short on the fruitchooli wagon.
Do you like Coromandel? If you can find a bottle of the Extrait or original EdT, I do love that.
I like 31 RC over coromandel. I have some to hold me over thanks to a generous NST.
For the coco noir, I like the Parfum and the body cream which is better than the fragrance .
I have plenty of Coco to hold me over.
Thanks for your advice .
Lovely — your choice of scent and all of the delicious food you are preparing ! Have fun celebrating !
Thank you!
I love Persian food. We had Khoresht e Rivas last week, a beef stew with rhubarb.
wow!
You should make it when rhubarb is in season. We had some frozen from last year
Happy Norooz!
Happy Norooz and happy spring !!!
Happy Norooz! Shirin Polo is delicious.
Happy Norooz!
Morning everyone! My SOTD is vintage Chanel No. 22 EdC. I love this perfume, only a few spritzes left in my bottle. I’ll be sad when I finish it and it’ll be difficult to replace. I might want to start looking now…
It’s drizzling out, I’m hoping it will slow down in a few hours. In the meantime, I can work on my class project and get this off my plate. 🙂
Everyone have a lovely day!
No 22 is wonderful. Have a little bit of the vintage Edt.
I have some No 22 parfum from my Chanel fragrance wardrobe. Its really lovely. I also have some from EdT from the exclusifs line..somewhere…
I am having fun doing Chanel week! I thought I had some coco mlle evening sample, but I used that all up.
Glad I could join you for Chanel week! So much fun! 😀
I could keep going, I think I have enough samples to do another week
Aaah, No. 22! One of my longstanding fragrance loves. I have a huge bottle of the EDT.
I’m starting off the day in What We Do In Paris Is Secret, which, while not an outright gourmand, has whiffs of gourmandise about it. Mostly I love the name. Since Pyramus reminded me of Jeux de Peau, I may transition to that one later today.
WWDIPIS (sounds dirty whenever I use this a ronym ?) is a wonderful perfume. It was one of my first niche purchases and I believe my first LuckyScent purchase!
House twins! That’s one of my faves from this house.
I am wearing Farmhouse Fresh Pink Moon (licorice, powder, spun sugar) and drinking a cup of Taiwan Oolong tea.
Your perfume sounds lovely.
Robin, your scent combo sounds delicious and creative!! DVN does something weird and sour on my skin. But when I spray it onto a blotter or scarf, the sandalwood drydown is magnificent. Sigh….
I’ll be wearing Lost Cherry for CP today.
Happy Friday, everyone!
DvN does something odd with my sniffer, too. It’s been long enough that I don’t remember what, though.
I should have specified that I did not layer…I have one on each arm. I do like it that way and was not sure what they’d do layered 🙂
Gourmand/foody fragrances are my favorite, so I had a really tough time choosing one today, but I finally went with CSP Lait Sucre. Such a marvelous condensed milk scent!
I never tried that one but anything condensed milk is good stuff!
I’m wearing Petite Robe Noir Black Perfecto, which has notes of cherry, black tea and almond.
You smell wonderful – that’s one of my very favorites.
In BDK’s Citrus Riviera–smelling just a bit like a champagne mimosa. (This is definitely a ‘meh’ perfume for me.)
I would rather have the drink 😉
Me too. Hands down!
I don’t really have much in the gourmand department, so I went with the plant form of a food — CB I Hate Perfume Memory of Kindness. In using up old samples, I panicked a bit that this house might not last forever, and ordered an extra small bottle of this and A Room With a View. They came yesterday, so I guess a good excuse to wear one.
Long week, made even longer this morning with the arrival of an unpleasant email from a cantankerous member of a nonprofit board I sit on. I just need to get out of the city — it’s spring break and we leave tomorrow to go sit on a nearby island and not be here. Fingers crossed I can get all my work wrapped off and not work while I’m there…
Happy Friday, everyone!
Memory of Kindness and A Room With a View are two of my favorites from that line! My one gripe is that the water perfume formulas don’t hold up well in the bottle, though the absolutes seem to.
Sorry about the grumpy email/colleague! Hopefully your vacation will be a wonderful, work-free renewal.
Yes, my big bottle of Memory of Kindness is water perfume. It’s done okay, but I was definitely noticing notes in the absolute that I hadn’t smelled in a while. I just wish the affordable bottle came with a spray, not a roller ball. The roller ball in this one does not seem to be great.
Happy Spring Break! Enjoy your ✌️!
Wishing you a wonderful vacation!
I hope you have an excellent break. Islands – swoon!
Well, they’re cold, rainy islands, but I’ll take what we can get. 🙂
Cold rainy islands are actually my favorite kind! I miss the Pacific Ocean.
Enjoy your vacation!
Safe travels!
Thanks, all! I’m looking forward to the getaway.
Oh, I do love Memory of Kindness!!
Have a wonderful time away from it all.
I have lots of gourmand perfumes, mostly from early rabbit hole and MUA swapping days, so I was rich in choices this morning. I ended up in Lady Evangeline by Bourbon French from a decant I’ve had for a long time. I’m in thunking distance, so I may reapply and finish it later. It’s a super rich bitter almond and vanilla. The almond comes on very strong at first but now it’s smoothed out into creamy vanilla almond.
almond + vanilla sounds good enough to eat ?
That does sound lovely. Sounds like almond puff pastry, a recipe my mom used to make us when we were kids before she died, which I’ve never been able to truly duplicate since. (Her recipe disappeared.)
I got a craving for twice baked almond croissants from my favorite bakery after wearing this perfume. I may go get some tomorrow!
Someone here was looking for perfumes with almond notes a while back.
Have not even thought of that one in eons!! Good pick.
Going with Hanae Mori, and its soft, cozy, almondy goodness. Quite glad for this week to be over.
That’s a good one, you smell delicious.
No gourmand points today; I wanted flowers, so Jour d’Hermes and a teensy spray of CDG Grace. I have a decant of Grace, and I’m doling it out slowly.
Very excited about the equinox!
I wore Grace to bed the other night after finding a sample I forgot I had. It doesn’t develop much on me, but oh is it pretty!
Continuing with Jo’s ginger bicky, on a rainy day.
That’s a good one from JM! I adore ginger biscuits, both in perfume and cookie form.
Wearing Rising Phoenix Perfume Osmanthus Attar, with yuzu and sandalwood. This is really pretty and definitely pulls to the more floral and edible aspects of osmanthus. I am definitely getting facets of osmanthus tea and also fruit. If you have not added dried or fresh osmanthus blossoms to your tea, I challenge you to do so this year.
You have given people a lot of time for your tea challenge!
In Virginia, osmanthus or tea olive bloom in the fall. One can acquire the dried ones from a well stocked Asian Grocery store, usually found in the tea aisle?
I love osmanthus oolong and have not had any in ages. Good advice!
Hi all! I haven’t been commenting lately…something about the past year has put perfume in the background but the hope of spring is bringing me around. I wanted to pop in and bestow some enabler pins…I splurged on 2 new fragrances just this week. A PSA about 30% of Clinique got me to spring on Wrappings for a measly $40 (cdn) then rumours of Cristalle plus a surprise $20 off coupon got me to go for a bottle of the EDP. Yippee!
Where did you get the Cristalle edp?
And nice to see you!?
I got it from Shoppers Drug Mart, a Canadian pharmacy. They only had 100 ml bottles but with the coupon + their points program it only came out to be around $50. Couldn’t go wrong with that!
Has it already disappeared elsewhere?
It’s low stock at the Bay, I believe
I’ve been eyeing Cristalle too! I also got a coupon emailed to me plus had a bunch of Shoppers points to use. And here my hubby thought we’d use the points on groceries!
You are lucky with your EdP Cristalle!
Thanks for sharing good deals – glad you found them!
Hello there Gi! Nice to see you!
Good to see you!
I’m in Olfactive Studio Iris Shot. A truly gourmandise iris perfume.
Just yesterday I saw on OS Instagram that they have released the refill bottles for their Sepia Collection which includes said Iris Shot. The bottles come without a cap and without the brown leather sleeve and are 30 euro cheaper than a full presentation 100 ml. That way they want to be more eco and reduce waste.
You smell nice. I was going to comment about “eco”… that our intranet has an article on how to be eco-friendly at home. I haven’t read it yet but I honestly found it odd to see it being one of the highlighted stories.
Coincidence?
Perhaps it was due to Global Recycling Day
excellent enabling, lucasai! I must take a look. 😀
Haha! I didn’t even think about that.
Nice choice! I have the travel size of Iris Shot. I was thinking about a travel size of Violet Shot but it reminds me of Guerlain’s Insolence which is not a love for me.
Maybe I need to find Insolence! I actually prefer Violet Shot over Iris Shot!
Going to test them wrist to wrist?
I don’t have Insolence ?
Uh oh!
I am not a Gourmand scent lover, but I really love Fils de Dieu. Fits the CP perfectly. Just wonder if Deva is wearing this too???
Fils de Dieu is getting some love today! 😀
Ooh, you smell great.
A generous NSTer provided me with a gateway decant and I had to spring for more. It’s mesmerizing.
Today’s cp was an easy one for me. I love gourmand scents and wear them frequently throughout the year except on hot summer days. And in March, when the days alternate between winter and the hint of spring in the air and the tiny new green shoots begin to appear daily, one of my favorite scent notes is patchouli – it reminds me that the earth deep beneath the surface is busy creating new life. Combining the sweetness of gourmand + patchouli, I’m enjoying EL Pleasures Delight as my SOTD and cp partner today. It’s sweet (but not as sweet as marshmallow, caramel and sugar might indicate, but then, dessert is my favorite meal!); the strawberry ? note reminds me the ones I grow in my garden will soon come alive, and the peony, green notes, and patch all say Spring! and Garden! to me. A perfect scent for a cold but very sunny day.
Signs of new life are appearing daily, and my snowdrops made it through the snow and cold we had earlier this week and are smiling at the sun in full bloom. Here’s wishing that, weather notwithstanding wherever you are, at least a little bit of ☀️ sunshine brightens your weekend. ?
wishing you and your snowdrops a day of warm sunshine and smiles, Laila. 😀 😀 😀
??? back atcha!
Your post just makes me smile and think happy spring thoughts.
??
I love strawberry notes in perfume, and I love House of Estee Lauder. My lemming is making notes! 😀
The strawberry in this is a bit tart and quite prominent (at least to me) keeping the patchouli from being too dark and the sweet elements from being too sweet; all in all, a nicely balanced fragrance.
You and tiffanie are NST’s resident rays of sunshine!
Aw, ?.
SOTD is Soivohle’s Paracelsus, mostly just because I wanted it, but it does have a dark chocolate note so CP points too! Have a lovely Friday, everyone!
mmmmm, dark chocolate 😀 that’s my favorite.
And it’s good for you! Or so they say … ?
And a luscious dark chocolate it is! ??
OMG, soooo gooooood! It’s late in the day now, but I still smell a bit of woody vanilla-chocolate on my wrist. Yum!
SotD = Fendi Theorema
Spicy orange goodness for Friday morning. Sometimes Theorema delivers chocolate, but none so far. Maybe later. Such a fun purse-shaped mini bottle. I love the odd looking ones.
Fragrant friends, you smell delicious. 😀
As do you!
Mmmm spicy orange goodness!
Seriously, there should have been a Theorema Intense flanker with extra cocoa.
I am attending day 2 of a virtual symposium for work, so can’t read all comments, but am participating in the CP with Fils de Dieu–all that lime, coriander, shiso, coconut, cardamom goodness…
Happy Friday everyone!
. . . and such a fantastic name for a perfume. 😀
Scent twins
I want to get my nose on that one so badly!
Laura Mercier Ambre Souffle. I might switch up later to Gourmand Coquin, too. An absolute favorite!
A sales assistant from Chanel is going to call around and hunt for Cristalle edp, edt and parfum. Worth a shot!
Happy Friday!
It’ll be interesting to hear what the SA comes up with.
I’ll report back. If she finds anything, I’ll let you know.
SOTD = Guerlain Gourmand Coquin
Full CP points! Twins with floragal. I’ll regale you with a pic or two when IG decides to behave.
My staying on standby yesterday until around 8:30pm yielded nothing. I finished what I needed to this morning but oh how I wish I was told earlier!
In other news, I’m seeing a pattern again of lockdowns being imposed, primarily in Europe. I know we haven’t yet “solved” the whole COVID-19 situation but I was hoping there would be a more lasting no lockdown protocol, now that we’re over a year past the initial emergency.
I’m with you on the no more lockdowns, they haven’t fixed the pandemic, I am hoping for a more enlightened approach as we move forward.
I like that – “enlightened” approach!
Glad to hear that you got done what you needed to, but ARGH on the standby!
Thanks. Finally on that one!
Fingers crossed on no more lockdown.
Giving Diptyque Tempo another shot, since hajusuuri asked me what I thought of it. It’s pretty quiet and reminds me of Hiram Green’s Arbolé. I like it better than the last time I tried it but it’s too similar to Arbolé to be FBW. I tried Fleur de Peau again and I can still barely smell it, must be anosmic to whatever musk they use in it.
Will have a wash and douse myself in Profumum Vanitas, my ultimate marshmallow orange blossom sweet gourmand bliss! Happy Friday and spring equinox tomorrow!
A friend of mine wears Tempo and she wafts it beautifully. On me it’s just meh.
Tempo was definitely present on me when I tried it!
Wearing some recent Kilian Love Don’t be Shy…which I believe has been reformulated.
If anyone has the old black bottle, I’d love to do a swap for a bit please! Have read the old/original version has more oomph and I like oomph. 🙂
I have an old bottle and yes, it was stronger. Will email you.
I’m in one of my first ever niche (sort of) purchases, L’Artisan Premier Figuier. Fig was the first note I explored in the early days when I bought some of those. “Try a note” sample packets from Perfume Posse. They really provided a good service with that. This one was and still is my favorite fig. Love the coconut note. I have the Extreme version.
Our weather is gorgeous and it’s become a bit cooler than it was. That may explain why three cats are crowded onto my lap.
Love Premier Figuier, you smell wonderful, in my case I lean towards the original, but both versions are good.
Premier Figuier smells like summer to me. Not quite warm enough to wear it where I am at.
The cats love you ?
Similar weather here. Almost perfect but very windy and much cooler this afternoon.
Three cats on one lap is definitely love! And cold weather too, sure, but also love.
Purrrrrrr….
I’m in the mother of all vanillas, Shalimar. Not even the first gourmand created by Jacques Guerlain, but it was the first one I found this morning.
I love it.
SHALIMAR ♥️ I love it too.
She is perhaps the Queen Mother? ?
You smell beautiful.
Me, too! Two light spritzes this morning and I had no problem wearing it in the classroom (taking hajusuuri’s comment from yesterday, about everyone being masked, into account). And now that I am back at home, I am about to try tiffanie’s suggestion from yesterday: a big spray of Angel atop the Shalimar dry down. Because I’ll never know until I try.
Angel + Shalimar sounds so decadent!!!
It will sure generate big sillage. Mind you I wouldn’t want repeat the experiment myself since I do not like Angel much.
How was the layering? I bet you smell fabulous.
oh, yeaaaaaaah! please report back on your Shaliangel experiment. 😀
Shalimar is always wonderful so you must smell so!
Smelling wonderful.
I’m wearing the new Replica Matcha Meditation today and loving it. It isn’t too sweet from the white chocolate note. Maybe my new favorite tea scent.?
I think I’ll need to try this 🙂
Thanks for reporting on this scent! I’ve been really curious since I’m a big fan of their discontinued Tea Escape. They don’t have the same notes, but I’m still hoping I’ll like the new one as much as the one gone.
Breakfasting a bit later this morning, my mother is here and at 90 she takes her time with many things 🙂
I think I might dab on a little Angélique Noire later. It’s one of my most vanilla perfumes.
Angélique Noire is delicious!
Hooray your mom is with you! Angelique Noire is delish!
YAY for your mom’s visit!
I’m wearing Arielle Shoshana Sunday, for the CP but mainly because I adore it. It just hits all the right notes for me.
Ooohhh good one! I could have worn that one too, didn’t think about it. You smell fab.
I should so have thought about this one. Love it, and I don’t own many gourmands. How did I overlook it? Would have been perfect for today! 🙂
It’s a gorgeous day out and I’m working late tonight. The company has decided to extend our hours of operation. Most places here though are still closing at 7pm. We get all the people who still want to shop later than that. I wasn’t in the mood for foody perfume today. I went with No.19 Poudre. I thought about maybe finally purchasing Atelier Santal Carmin because they are having a sale, but I see they have raised the original price by 15 dollars for a 1oz.
It was too expensive to begin with imo. Hope everyone has a great weekend ??????
$15 on the one ounce? That’s a lot. You have a great weekend too!
Yeah, unless I’m wrong.. it used to be one fifty, now it says one sixty five.
Have a great night! You smell very elegant in Poudre.
Thanks!
You smell very elegant, hope you’re having a good day. The sun was shining here too and my mood improved considerably as a result. How did your daughter do at school?
So far so good! She’s only going in person 2 days a week.
Hope you have a good night! Though it is Spring break in our little college town, we all had a super busy week at our office – almost like *work* or somthing! 🙂
You are definitely smelling elegant today! How much longer have your hours been extended to?
You smell wonderful.
Earning CP points in Vanille Insensee. I was burning a Lemon Cookie candle from trader joes this morning and wanted to try to match it with a vanilla citrus perfume, but the VI is leaning much more vanilla than citrus for me. It is fairly dry from wood notes. And after complaining about smelling coriander all week from perfumes that shouldn’t have it, here I am wearing one that is suppose to have a coriander note and I’m not getting it. 😕 So clearly that’s a me problem, not a juice problem.
Drinking Adagio Yuletide Toddy orange-cranberry-cinnamon tea left over from Christmas and it tastes like a christmas punch, minus the champange. Calling it a Toddy implies that I’m suppose to add whiskey, right? 😀
You smell foody and adding ? would make it a toddy. I’ve never had a toddy.
Some enterprising souls add rum to their toddies… ??
You smell great! Yes Vanille Insensée is VERY dry, isn’t it? I find the coriander pops more the older it gets.
I am with you Robin in DVN. My fav from Frederic Malle’s line up.
Later I will be testing Angel’s Share (Kilian’s version). I finally was able to get a sample!!!
I bought a little travel size of Dries this past fall. It’s the perfect size.
Hey twin!!
I went with 34 Boulevard St. Germain today. I’m not sure if it’s a true gourmand but it has a ton of clove and other spices. I used to think Diptyque was not my house but I own four of their scents so I guess I changed my mind. It also reminds me very much of hajusuuri. ?
I’m sure you smell very good, spices are food so I think it counts for the cp.
??? I was about to say the same thing with Diptyque but I have a good number of bottles ?
I had never heard of 34 BSG until you posted it on this blog.
Mostly, I affiliate you with No 19, spine strengthener! ?
Have you tried Eau Capitale? I found it to be a big, jammy red rose with good longevity.
Diptyque is hit or miss with me but there are several I do love.
Wearing my favorite gourmand Missoni Gianduia, very simple, lots of chocolate.
Oooooh! I *love* gianduia truffles. SO decadent! ??
I think you would enjoy it then. The ? chocolate is very realistic in this scent, now because of our conversation I’m craving truffles ?
Making Toblerone shortbread so that will be my sotd; no perfume. Since my hubby asked for them, I had him do the chopping and mixing. I measured the ingredients only and added them as he did the hard mixing work by hand. Last time I made them (for Christmas) he somehow left for the afternoon (after he promised to help me). I figured if he wants them again, then he can join in the baking fun!
Happy Friday everyone!
The couple that bakes together ____ ____ ____ .
?
A true gourmand scent for you today.
It really is! The vanilla got overshot, but that can’t be bad!
Toblerone shortbread?! Why I have not heard about this deliciousness sooner?! ?
I stumbled onto the recipe a few years ago. Here’s the one I’ve been recently using; I chop the Toblerone and add it to the dough instead.
https://www.foodnetwork.ca/recipe/shortbread-cookies/5498/
Thanks for sharing! I like your idea of adding in the chopped up Toblerone instead of the big piece up top.
A perfectly reasonable division of labor!
Haha! I agree. Actually I can’t really complain as he does like to cook.
I am hoping I will get to taste some when I come to visit you later this year! 🙂 Good for you for putting him to work!
Yes, of course! Looking forward to it!
Gosh send me some!
Here you go???
I was wearing la Douceur de Siam through the day. I find it almost gourmand more than floral, as it has a dominant note of rose over vanilla/ resin base the impression is of a sweet rose hip tea or sweet berry dessert perfumed with roses.
Now spraying Gourmand Coquin too after reading the thread. It’s so good! But I wished it lasted a bit longer. I don’t know if it’s me or it is how current or old version was. Somehow hoping it may grow stronger with time as other vanilla containing perfumes..
I used 8 sprays of Gourmand Coquin around 8am this morning and I am still in a cloud of deliciousness 11 hours later.
I layer GC over B&BW chocolate lotion, it amps up the yumminess. 🙂
I had an embarrassment of riches to choose from today. However, Robin’s SOTD yesterday reminded me that I have a nearly empty sample of the original Prada Candy in the sample stash. So…
SOTD = Prada Candy. Looks like I have 1 or 2 more wearings left in the sample, unless it becomes one of those magically enduring samples that refuse to be used up.
I am sure you smell wonderful; lol the magically enduring samples!
Thank you!
I’ve had it (the magic sample) happen more than once!
You could have thunked it … I know I would have overachieved ?. You smell great!
Thanks! I’m still getting wafts of Candy, so I applied enough for me today. We shall see if I thunk it this weekend or not.
YUM!
Well Hi there! Good to see you!
You smell great. I really love Candy. For me, that one is just sweet enough.
Thanks!
Hi all – Since I went to a couple of doctor appointments this morning, I didn’t wear a fragrance until I got to my office where I have a limited perfume collection.
Turns out that Fragrantica lists Sutra Ylang by Bois 1920’s top notes as Bay Leaf, Cardamom, Lemon and Bergamot so I eeeked out some CP points.
In other news, my local perfume shop told me that Serge Lutens informed them that they will not longer be exporting to the US, effective within a month or so! There were no explanations given and this perfume shop has been carrying the line since it opened 20 years ago.
The owner of the shop said that she fears other European lines like Santa Maria Novella and Bastide might follow suit due to impacts of Covid (e.g. lack of employees which affects a company’s ability to process orders, etc.)
I’m not sure if this is a time limited situation but it was strange that the notice was so terse and without additional detail/context/explanation.
Those of you more in the know than I am, please feel free to add, correct, etc. I don’t want to spread “fake news” but I have this from a reputable source.
Thank you for that news: I am glad to hear “the early edition” for that does seem like a good source, to be taken under advisement!
I wonder if Serge Lutens will just be retaining a website presence in the USA, Santa Maria Novella also has a website specifically for sales here. They closed their store in Chevy Chase before I could get there?
They also had a store in Soho, I think. I don’t know if it is still there.
I have bubs of my two favorite SLs but that is disappointing news.
Oh, and Sutra Ylang is a great scent. Nice choice!
Thank you!
Well that’s really bad news! I tried to buy a Byredo candle yesterday at Nordstroms and they had almost nothing, they said it’s become nearly impossible to get stock. Things are tough all over.
SotD for CP: one of my favorites, Lolita Lempicka Sweet! I enjoyed calorie-free chocolate covered cherries all day. I love the review of it by Victoria at Bois de Jasmine. In other MossyBerry news, although I thought I had maxed-out my quarterly budget-like thing regarding perfume, I picked up Etro Patchouly in a special edition box at the bay last weekend. It came today, and I am madly in love with the first spritz. Will be testing this weekend. Happy Friday to all.
I like to think of perfume budgets as being ideas, not limits ;).
Ha! I normally don’t even bother with a budget since there are so many emergencies that come up during a year (discontinuations, reformulations, sales).
Those ARE emergencies! I don’t set a perfume budget either, I just try to make good decisions, and be somewhat reasonable.
I like the way you think!
?
I’m glad for the sympathetic thoughts! My budget idea has been quite vague this year, and I do have a plan to retreat to the sample box for a bit.
Etro seems to be getting hard to find at the discounter sites. Nice buy!
A perfume emergency in the making?? 🙂 I only started studying the brand this year, after a kind NST’er sent me a sample of Messe de Minuit, which I loved.
Sweet didn’t seem to get much airplay. I love that you mentioned it today.
Thanks, Portia – as the busy workday went on, I noticed a musk note in the dry down that harmonized with the chocolate cherries and floral parts in a fun way.
Happy weekend to all and Spring, which is just about to officially begin! I’m wearing Iunx L’eau Argentine from a decant once sent to me by a kind member of the NST community. I chose it due to its “rice” note. It’s such a unique perfume, but also so easy to wear and pleasant. Would recommend!
Happy spring to you sllat!
Hey all! I wore Demeter Lemon Meringue today. It’s quite nice, I get more vanilla meringue than anything else, but it doesn’t last long. I love lemon tarts and lemon bars more than lemon meringue pie. The meringue is often piled on way too thick for me. But then, I like sour desserts and candy :). If anyone else here likes lemon, I can recommend Noosa lemon yogurt. The lemon at the bottom is like lemon curd, and the yogurt isn’t too sweet. Yum!
My Chanel no. 19 is out for delivery, so I’ll spray on some of that when it arrives! Looking forward to it!
Oooooooh, thanks for the yogurt recommendation! ??
You’re welcome! Their strawberry rhubarb is also very good, but the lemon has my heart.
I love lemon things, thanks for the yogurt recommendation.
I hope you like it, if you try it!
GAH! I always fall asleep and then don’t remember till lunchtime Saturday!
Amor Amor by Cacharel
Blackcurrant, Citrus, Sugar over a lightly caramelised cheesecake biscuit base.
It always gives me joyful reminders of one of my BFFs Anna Maria who gave me my first, long gone, little 30ml..
Portia xx
Better a little late than never!
Jalapeno, you are right.
I don’t have many foody or gourmand fragrances I don’t think so I went with Bonbon from a sample. It is very sweet for me but kinda cozy I suppose.
My hubs has never had chicken and dumplings which I somehow didn’t know until this past weekend. I made a big pot of them, homemade like my Granny used to, today for a late lunch. My kitchen was a mess and covered in flour but it was quite the success and he loved them. I’m still so stuffed I don’t believe I’ll need dinner though he’s already going for another bowl haha.
Sounds delicious! My college roommate was from the south and her mom made some excellent chicken and dumplings. I should get the recipe and try making them too. I’d never had them before I met her.
Why is it that the tastiest food always seems to make the biggest mess in the kitchen? Sounds like it was worth it, though.
CP compliant in a sample of Freckled & Beautiful today. I was hoping for more of the floral in this but it started off very buttery, then became a teething biscuit soaked in milk. Not really what I was hoping for but not unpleasant at all which is an improvement on my sampling earlier in the week! I’m back to work tomorrow but I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Huh, that sounds weird. I really like 2 of their gourmands (Paris*LA and What We Do In Paris) but not sure that sounds appealing to me?
I don’t wear many true gourmand fragrances but I’ve found some with vanilla and/or spices that I love. So today started out with White Queen and ends with Ginger Biscuit. Yesterday was Vanille d’Iris, really not gourmand, but maybe partial CP points for the vanilla!
I haven’t heard much about White Queen at all.
I love it! I reviewed it here: https://scentsandsensibilities.co/2019/02/17/scent-sample-sunday-white-queen/
OOOHH! OH I loved White Queen and used up a 5ml decant quick smart.
Portia x
I love it too! Are 4160 Tuesdays scents readily available in Australia?
We have a store that sells them OH but they chop and change their stock often.
Spent most of today in Zoologist Bee smelling like I’d rolled in baklava!
Popped in and out this week to read comments but don’t tend to gourmands much, so it’s been fun getting an education reading up on everyone’s faves!
Bee is so good. I noticed a slight smoky note this time, possibly because I dumped most of the sample on me.
Manguier Metisse for me today. Mangos are pretty common at the farmer’s markets here in Hawaii, though maybe there are even more papayas. One more week in Hawaii and then we detour to Colorado to find a place in either Boulder or Denver, then back to Massachusetts fo a couple of months before we move
