It's Almost-Friday and Rosa Parks Day. I forgot to say it yesterday but we have now passed the midpoint of meteorological winter and the midpoint between the winter and spring equinoxes. (Sorry, folks in the southern hemisphere, but we northerners are plotting to steal back your summer.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Eau de Pamplemousse Rose.
Reminder: on 2/5, for National Grapefruit month, wear a fragrance with grapefruit; extra credit if Grapefruit (or Pamplemousse or whatever) is in the name of the scent. (This is a repeat from 2015.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m in another discovery set Bruno Fazzolari, this time Monserrat. I don’t like it as well as the Lampblack that I wore yesterday. I continue to think about how much I liked the dry down of Zdravetz, but admittedly Monserrat is more accessible. I wish Bruno Fazzolari’s scents were more available from the decant houses, because I would like to explore the scents not available in the discovery sets.
I think I might have Montserrat as a sample – must go investigate tomorrow! I may have already put it in the “goodbye box”.
So interesting – I love Monserrat and really disliked Lampblack. I wanted to like it, but…
I wore Monserrat yesterday – initially I didn’t think it was anything special, but all through the day I kept getting whiffs that were very pleasant. Now I think I need to test it again.
I started with Lampblack today, after your post yesterday. I did pay attention to the opening to catch the grapefruit. I think I did! Decided it’s not for me though—which I count as a success since I’m trying to sample bust.
My favorite so far from this house is Au Dela Narcisse.
CSP Vanille Abricot. One of my fallbacks, something to wear when I can’t be bothered to think about what I want; it’s never the wrong choice.
You smell cosy, I like it too, as you say, it’s a good default perfume.
No scent today, still recovering from my covid infection. I had a fever for 8 days plus the chills, sore muscles and heavy coughing and could hardly eat anything. The fever is down now. Thankfully I still have my sense of taste and smell!
My boyfriend has no symptoms, so I am happy for him. Keep safe, you all!
Glad you are starting to be on the mend!
That sounds awful, I’m glad you’re on the downhill slope.
Welcome back and so glad you’re getting better!
Glad you are feeling better. I was wondering about you this morning.
Wow, that’s truly awful! So glad the fever is down… Hope your recovery is smooth and fast!
Oh phew. Good to hear the worst days are behind you.
phew!
You will appreciate your perfume once you can smell again
I’m glad you checked in. Wishing you a fast and full recovery!
I hope you have a full recovery!
Glad you are on the other side towards recovery!!!
Glad the fever is down! Hope each and every day you feel better!
Eight days! Lordy. Glad you’re on the other end of it!
Glad you seem to be in the mend. Slowly, slowly…
That was a rough ride! Good to know you’re getting better!
Sorry to hear that your battle with Covid hasn’t been mild like we were hoping for! But I’m glad to hear your fever is down, and very glad to hear you haven’t lost your sense of smell & taste. Take good care of yourself!
Goodness, eight days is a lot. I’m glad you rounded the corner and are feeling better.
Been thinking about you and hoping you would post. Eight days is a long time 🙁 but glad your fever has come down. Please keep taking good care of yourself and get plenty of rest.♥️
Gute Besserung liebe tannina! Hope you recover well. And glad to hear your boyfriend is not much affected.
Best wishes for a complete recovery.
tannina, I hope you feel better pronto.
That sounds thoroughly unpleasant. I’m glad to hear you are getting better.
Oh no! I’m so sorry.
Tannina, I hope you continue to feel better.
Glad that you are starting to feel a bit better!
Eight days of fever is a nightmare. Glad you’re feeling better!
Glad you are beginning to recover!
Joining everyone else…8 days of fever is a lot. So glad you’re on the mend.
Yuck to 8 days of fever. That’s a rough ride. But glad to hear that you still have your senses of taste and smell. Hang in there!
Glad you are on the mend now. Doesn’t sound fun at all, but at least it wasn’t worse.
Sending you healing thoughts, and hoping that your recovery from this point on is swift!
Sample time:
Etruscan water by Bianchi (and hey, theres grapefruit! Or so fragrantica tells me, my nose just said “lots of citrus” ?)
Its really lovely and it reminds me a of something else, just cant pinpoint it (eau sauvage maybe? Or is this the bucolical brother of Mitsouko…? )
Belles rives by La Parfumerie Moderne (because recommended by Austenfan)
Wow this is very nice! An almost ‘airy’ iris, but not fresh or light. Its also quite woody. I picture a small wooden cabin where fairies with iris scented wings are fluttering around ? and I get a hint of fruit as well.
Woody and magical – Belles Rives sounds lovely!
I love the image of fairies with iris scented wings!

Ninfeo Mio
Marco Polo tea
thrift store dress with a beaded color
sampling Sisley Paris skincare today
You smell great ltsg! You must mean a beaded collar.
Today I’m wearing Fumerie Turque, from a decant sent to me by hajusuuri that I hadn’t tried yet (misplaced!) Not much grapefruit in my collection, although I did eat one for breakfast- does that count?
I think that counts!
Then Ill be making my gin tonic tonight with Fentimans Pink Grapefruit Tonic Water (yes, this apparently exists….argg the stuff one orders when in lockdown ??)
So Cheers for the cp!
I hope it counts, and if not..ill still have a lovely drink. ?
I can see grapefruit working well in a G&T! Enjoy!
Uh oh, possible lemming for that Pink Grapefruit Tonic Water!
That’s great stuff! Fentimans also makes a great ginger beer. Mixed with Gin and lime juice, it’s such a refreshing summer cocktail! I think it’s called an English Mule?
Ha, an English mule..i think you are right ?
And ginger beer with vodka is a Moscow mule.
I love that one as well.
Oh, Fentimans! I’m in love with their rose lemonade and their from-another-century dandelion/burdock fizzy!
Off CP, Safran Troublant. Thursdays are my crazy busy days, but I’m not quite feeling it today (yet).
You smell lovely. I’ve been enjoying my decant as well.
Thanks! I think today’s not my best day – I just thought “I wonder where she got her decant from…” – from me. Duh. 🙂
You smell wonderful! I’ve been wearing Safran Troublant a lot in the evenings because I find it so comforting.
Good morning Y’all,
Trying out Rebecca Minkoff today…..it’s pretty good! Nice powdery tobacco. A little bit synthetic, but as it dries down it’s quite nice. TJ Maxx find for $19.99…
That’s a great deal!
I’m in En Passant. I think that this scent turned on me. I used to love its cucumber note. Now, I mostly get the dough note, which is very well done, but just not me.
Same with me.. the bread note overtakes so I have been wearing less and less sadly! Love lilacs, mostly in spring months and that need is covered by Rochester Highland Lilac which is a very pure and natural lilac!
Hi all, my SOTD is Bleu de Chanel by Chanel (stolen from the hubby) layered over Un Jardin Sur Le Nil lotion by Hermès. I forget how much I love this scent, it’s unisex and very enjoyable to wear.
Well the good news is we’re moved and all the boxes are unpacked! Can’t believe we have so much room and the neighborhood is so quiet! We’re making a list of furniture we need to make things comfy & cozy.
Learning the local parks and mapping out various walks so I can keep up my exercise routine. 🙂
Half twins! Well, kinda sorta. Glad the move went well! Enjoy exploring your new neighborhood.
MTG: Thanks! I’m happy to report my hubby’s favorite pizza joint, Toto’s is right down the street, and our favorite Burmese restaurant, Mingabala is too!
SmokeyToes is annoyed I’m recycling his boxes… 😀
Enjoy exploring!
Yay!
I was wondering where you were, I forgot you were moving. Is your new place still in driving distance of your bellissimo car mechanic.
I’m closer to said bellissimo car mechanic! 😀
In fact, I need to schedule my maintenance shortly….
Glad you’ve landed. Don’t take ST’s boxes too soon. =^~^= And, how nice you’re in a quiet spot!
Ahhh, congrats on your move in. Now you’re in the fun part of the move: exploration!
Yay…glad the move is done and you are even unpacked…progress!!!
It sounds like the move is a success, it can be so stressful. Does Smokeytoes have a garden or a balcony to go outside?
He doesn’t, but he has a porch with a screen door, looking out on trees and birds. Across the street at the H.S., Canadian Geese like to gather, he is very happy about Bird TV!
Good to hear the move went well, i hope you feel comfortable and cosy soon in your neighborhood and at home of course!
Glad to hear you’ve had a soft landing!
Congratulations!
Glad that you made it to your new home! Enjoy exploring! I hope SmokeyToes is feeling comfortable in his new surroundings?
Congratulations!
Glad you are enjoying your new surroundings!
How nice. Hope you are going to love it there.
I was wondering how your move was coming along, and how SmokeyToes kitty was doing. Thanks for checking in!
Enjoy your settling in! I hope it’ll be a wonderful new home for you.
Woohoo! Glad SmokeyToes has some Bird TV to watch through the windows and that you’re settling in!
In a sample of Zara Vetiver Pamplemousse.
I’m enjoying discovering grapefruit scents I had forgotten: Boy Chanel (sample), Hermes Pamplemousse Rose, Fresh Hesperides
What do you think of the Zara?
I like it. It doesn’t last very long on me and it isn’t very complex but for the price it’s a nice vetiver/grapefruit fragrance.
I thought it smelled way better than one would expect from a Zara perfume but agree about the longevity.
House twins with Robin in Sur Le Nil. Usually I wear this one in summer, but cp points for grapefruit!
We got a robo call last evening from the school that “due to an anticipated winter storm” there is no virtual learning today. Thank goodness, I was really worried how my daughter was going to make that 12 foot commute from her bedroom to her temporary office.?(pardon my sarcasm). Oh well, on a positive note, she has an orthodontist appointment today and so now she won’t have to miss any of her classes. Maybe we’ll even do something fun afterward while we are out and about.
Hey Madtowngirl, dig up some magic and get that storm away from us! I’m not happy, I tell ya.. not happy at all.
Oh no! I’m looking out my window right now and there is nothing happening. I will try and send this “nothing” your way!! Do you have to work today?
No, but the storm is coming for me tonight and into the morning. I have to work tomorrow morning. Sometimes the lake saves me, but it looks like that’s not the case. It wouldn’t be so bad if the temperature was not going to be so low. I think it has to be 18 degrees for salt to be effective.
I’m surprised at the longevity of the Hermes lotion, it’s so good. I’m close to the end of my bottle and will have to repurchase at some point. 🙂
Twins! I don’t really get grapefruit from Sur le Nil, but fragrantica swears it is in there. Who am I to second guess fragrantica? I never wear this in winter, and forgot how great it is.
I don’t smell grapefruit either but at least now I know I have grapefruit in my collection.
Another wearer of Sur Le Nil here! As others have said, I usually wear that in hot summer weather, but it’s lovely any time.
SotD JUS Perfumes Superfusion from a secondhand decant.
It’s a clean, synthetic musk paired with some pepper, immortelle and gentle white florals. It smells to me the way COS clothing stores look: minimal, stylish and comfortable.
Trying my hand at making homemade English muffins again today.
If you please, let me know how the English muffins turn out! I’ve tried a couple of recipes, but couldn’t get them to rise aggressively enough to split them very well.
https://littlespoonfarm.com/sourdough-english-muffins-recipe/
There you go! These rise very well for me.
I cook them on an electric griddle at 325°F as follows:
First side: 5 minutes uncovered + 5 minutes *with a lightweight cooking sheet on top to flatten the top side as it starts doming otherwise*
Then flip and
Second side: 5 minutes
Aha! I think I know what my issue is…it’s the process. There’s an overnight rise involved, and from the video, she is very gentle with the dough. She just pats it out, while I’ve been rolling it out. I don’t have starter, but I found a recipe that calls for an overnight rise.
Thank you so much, teebear! I’m now newly inspired. ?
Ah, totally, I shaped balls of 60g each and then rolled them out, but still did everything quite gently compared to say pizza dough. Best of luck, let me know how they turn out when you tackle them!
Wore Coco Mademoiselle before my shower and now in Deneuve edt. My Sephora package was delivered and naturally when I had to leave for work.
Darn! Enjoy it when you get home.
Saving grapefruit for tomorrow.
Today in Jul et Mad Stairway to Heaven.
You smell nice Lucas!
I really like that one. I have a sample I’ve been milking for a couple of years trying to decide if I want more. I can’t even describe what it smells like other than to say that it evokes crushed pine needles sprinkled with something sweet. I don’t think I’ve smelled anything similar though.
Interesting! To me it smells like a warm metal, berries and glass wool (musks) 😛
I will defer to you then. Gotta say, warm metal and glass wool were not even on my radar ?
Sampling Iris Cendre–didn’t used to think of myself as an incense fan, but am enjoying this.
Feeling anxious about staying active over the next days: we’re expecting rain followed by snow, followed by plunging (into single digit) temps. Have been able to walk outdoors till now.
Good luck thinking of indoor exercise. I have used our exercise bike more this winter than I have in the 10-15 years we’ve owned it!
SOTD = Hermès Kelly Caleche Pure Parfum
So good! Is there grapefruit? Not sure, but the EDP does!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CK4KZ2KB6N6/?igshid=ww47gs648olz
I moved my car again yesterday so more snow could be piled up elsewhere. The lot is still icy so I may need to go out there later and spread some de-icer pellets.
Reading through some IG posts, I cringe whenever I see palette / pallet used instead of palate. I would use palate to describe perfume taste, but would never use palette to describe the variety of perfumes I have nor use pallet in lieu of collection. I’m not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but I try to use care when I post. Anyway, off my soapbox!
I’m kind of with you, but then I very often make silly mistakes when posting here, that I notice just as the post goes “live” – but I read this in a book I have to read for a class that I just thought was great (and applies to me):
“For example, writers born in the 1990s or later generally find the phrase “based off” to be perfectly natural…When readers born before the 1990s see “based off” in print, they see barbarians at the gates and lose hope for civilization.”
Doesn’t quite apply to your situation, but maybe palates and pallets (and pellets!) will merge into platelets. 🙂
? I am decidedly in the “born before the 1990s” camp.
Ha! When I see “based off”, I always want to see “of” immediately after.
With that said, do not get me started on “irregardless”…
Based off of is even tougher for this pre-1990s person!
Based off of is better for me than plain based off, but based on is the best to my eyes.
Pre-1990s camp for me, for sure. I saw “based off” and thought “what does that even mean?” and had to google it. I get it now, but I don’t agree with it! 😀
I can (now) forgive the post 1990s born people who live in my home and those who I teach – although I will correct them (the persons in my home are NOT willing to concede the “off”, though). But I sometimes have colleagues who are definitely pre-dating the 90s and use the term, and that’s a tough one. They are way off base…;-)
What happened to “based upon,” a perfectly good construction?
‘“For example, writers born in the 1990s or later generally find the phrase “based off” to be perfectly natural…When readers born before the 1990s see “based off” in print, they see barbarians at the gates and lose hope for civilization.”
LMAO – it’s so true! I get this reflexive deep sense of despair! 😀
“Doesn’t quite apply to your situation, but maybe palates and pallets (and pellets!) will merge into platelets. :)”
This made me laugh, and I love this discussion – “based off” nooooo!
That is an awesome owl!
So, people are saying something like.. ” I have 25 bottles in my perfume palette”? If so, that doesn’t even make sense to me
I think they are treating a perfume collection as sort of similar to an eyeshadow collection, and eyeshadows are frequently packaged together into palettes.
But oh to have a pallet of perfumes!
Now that makes sense!
Yes, sign me up for a pallet of perfumes! ?
Yes, exactly. This would be the dream: to have a perfume collection so massive it requires a forklift to move about the house. “Beep beep beep.”
? yup!
“Palette” of perfumes? Nope. Don’t like it.
Memo Winter Palace today. Fragrantica says it has some grapefruit but it isn’t very prominent. Fine by me as I’m not a big grapefruit fan.
Today’s my first day back at work after a week off…feeling pretty blegh about it. Red bull it is…
Sorry you had to go back to work Dorsey! Hope the Red Bull helped.
In Mandy Aftel’s Wild Roses extrait. Making me sneeze a bit, but worth it. I always smell different things in this one. Today I am getting some hints of anise–perhaps its the patchouli?
I like to sneeze when smelling certain perfumes – it never lasts and it just seems to add to the credibility of the scent. Can’t think of an example at the moment. And, vintage oakmoss sometimes give me a little tickle on the roof of my mouth which is very pleasant – like a little bridge over taste but only to very edge of smell. That Wild Roses sounds great!
Loooove Wild Roses. Got maybe 2 squirts left in my little sample ?
Henri Bendel Pink Grapefruit & Vetiver for the CP. Long discontinued.
No sandwich making today….snow disrupted supplies and another group of folks used everything up last night. So, it’s laundry and errands.
That sounds nice!
DSH Muresque today. It’s such a beautiful blackberry perfume. ♥ I guess I’m still in fairy tale CP week, wandering the forests and picking blackberries and watching out for wolves and witches!
I love Muresque. I begged a decant/split off a generous NSTer as it is no longer available. I find it similar in something to the Wild Roses I am wearing today. Muresque is definitely blackberry and Wild Roses is definitely rose/patch, but they both make me think of old silk scarves stowed in boxes scented with potpourri—but not annoying-cloying. Absolutely beautiful.
I just reread what I wrote, and it sounds totally unappetizing. But its all true and I love both perfumes. So. Dunno!!!
I get it, thanks. Haven’t tried Wild Roses, but I think Muresque could easily be named Wild Blackberries and I do love it. I’m hoping Dawn may offer it again sometime.
Ooh, sorry to have missed out on this one! DSH is such a talent, and I have a soft spot for blackberry as one of the only fruity scents I actually like.
Welp. I had a grapefruit plan for today, but it went awry. I intended to use Tauer rose body oil in the shower and top it with Sonia Kashuk Yellow Alluriana body spray, to create a Pamplemousse Rose effect. What I actually grabbed was the Amber Flush body oil, so I went with PDN Ambre Cashmere Intense. It actually might have some citrus in it, so I’ll wave at the CP as I’m swinging by. ?
I’ve been thinking about Kanuka this week. Kanuka, if you’re reading, we’re keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. ❤️
I am thinking of and praying for Kanuka as well.
Two samples for CP today. I’ve got Histoires 1828 on one arm and PDN l’eau mixte on the other. So far, the grapefruit is much more prominent on the PDN. And I also much prefer the PDN.
Smelling fine in Coco Mademoiselle Intense from a most generous NSTer.
Lots of citrus, patchouli and oomph in general.
Friendly reminder (an expression I roll my eyes at in work emails 😉 ) …tomorrow is Friday!!! 🙂
You smell great, I’m a big fan of Coco Mademoiselle intense, oomph is right!
Agree about friendly reminders at work, but your friendly reminder is one that I love to see!
SotD Chanel No. 19 Poudre – a blind buy ’cause deal…I like it and it seems to have some staying power for me, but I spritzed on quite a bit. I won’t say more about how it is not 1970’s No. 19, which I have had the pleasure of smelling. It has reminded me of my stash of Jacomo Silences, and I think I will do a comparison later today.
Very interested in hearing your thoughts on Silences vs. No. 19 Poudre!
Interesting! I love No. 19 and Silences; I’ve tried No. 19 Poudre in airport duty-free and remember liking it very much, but not enough to displace those two.
Commando and headache-y so far, so I’ll probably skip grapefruit for today and wear something soothing. I did sample Eight and Bob Nuit de Megeve last night, and am not a fan. So far in the 8&B discovery set I find they are all very masculine, in a 60s, non-gender-fluid kind of way. I can imagine several of them on my dad, but they don’t work for me even though they’re very well done.
Thanks for your take! I was curious about this line but indeed wondered how unisex they really were. I’ll give it a skip unless someday stores are open again and I can sample without making an extra effort.
Hope the headache goes away.
Thanks Aurora – it’s mostly gone now, thanks to some meds (decongestant, antihistamine, and ibuprofen) and some pizza. And a lot of sitting around. 🙂
Thanks for taking one for the team on those Eight & Bob scents!
You’re welcome! ?
I think I’m wearing my most prominently grapefruit perfume today, which is Smell Bent 1999. SB describes it as grapefruit soda with notes as “a fizzy fresca + orange trees blossoming on a spring night.” Grapefruit soda is spot on. It’s a super enjoyable and cheerful perfume. My travel spray only has a couple wears left, and Smell Bent is running a 30% full bottle sale right now so I’m tempted.
My lemming might not be able to resist some of the grapefruit choices mentioned already this week -and now, you just said Fresca – and spring nights – and orange trees…..
The mouth of my soul is watering…
Therabbitsflower inspired me to dig out my bottle of Fresh Hesperides for today. It really is very nice. I had a bad night last night, went to Urgent Care with symptoms of a UTI and could not get comfortable in bed. The antibiotic will be ready this afternoon but until then I’m trying not to move around too much, it hurts.
UTIs are the worst. Hope your antibiotics zap it quick.
Oh no! Hope you get your antibiotics and start feeling better ASAP! Those are awful. Stay nice and hydrated!
Hope the antibiotics will get rid of the infection, take good care of yourself meanwhile.
Ugh, the worst! I hope you are able to get comfortable soon.
I am going to assume you are drinking lots of water and unsweetened cranberry juice. It really helps…..
Hope you feel better soon!
Yuck! Does your pharmacy have AZO? It’s an over-the-counter remedy that works well. Pix below. Feel better soon!
https://www.azoproducts.com/products/uti-medications/azo-max-strength
Yes, this stuff is life-saving!! BUT, be aware it doesn’t cure the UTI, just pain relief until you can get the meds.
So sorry you’re feeling bad! I use Uva Ursi liquid herb drops and cranberry capsules if I feel one coming on. Hope you feel better soon!
Ow ow ow ow. So sorry to hear that you are in the midst of UTI yuck.
You probably know this but try to drink gallons of water. It will help in the interval before the meds kick in.
Ugh, the worst. Antibiotics always work extremely fast on mine, and I hope that’s universal! Rest up, and hydrate!
I’m in YSL In Love Again both for the CP and because rose + grapefruit is my favorite.
Drinking palais des thes no. 25.
The temperature here in northern NJ is beautiful, but with the 20 inches of snow everywhere and the roads more narrow than usual, there is no where to go outside and enjoy it. Seriously considering just sitting in a lawn chair in my driveway.
Greetings from South Jersey!
I’m wearing Replica Lazy Sunday Morning, and not loving it. I reached into the perfume cabinet and pulled out a random sample vial, and just sprayed it on. It’s pretty and all, but I’m just not that into clean laundry scents. I might have to layer something richer on top of it to get me through the rest of the day.
Hope you found something better Lisa D!
Wearing Krizia Teatro Alla Scalla, very opulent, in the eighties style and eating crêpes for dinner.
Joining you this evening in Teatro Alla Scalla, after a day in No. 19 Poudre. I just got the edt of TAS, and it is a love! Crepes will be perfect and you smell wonderful!
Thank you twin, it’s a wonderful scent. Crepes were delicious, I wish I could have shared them with you.
Wearing Habit Rouge today which has every citrus but grapefruit in the stellar opening. Such a gorgeous fragrance. Why don’t I wear it more?
At some point I decided I loved Habit Rouge enough to need to lay in a store of *three* decants — and yet I haven’t worn it in at least a year. Thanks for the reminder, and you smell wonderful!
I have a surprise day off today due to a child care issue. I’ve been trying to keep some anxiety down by binge watching the last season of Superstore. This show is so funny!, especially if you have worked in retail. Sotd is Cuir Impertinent by Mugler. This is a great one, if you like tobacco smells.
I love Superstore when I’m home at the right time to watch it. Living in the town where Walmart is HQ’d makes it even funnier, though in all seriousness, besides being the biggest employer here, it also contributes to every cause imaginable.
Wearing Ubar. Off work for 3 days thank god. In theory I do still enjoy it, in practice I’m struggling. Mostly to do with the social isolation. Living like this does not suit me, but there is nothing to be done about it.
Will be visiting my home country for two days which will do me good.
I won’t be here tomorrow, so I wish you all a great weekend!
Glad you are back to your home country soon! So many of us are experiencing the same thing re. isolation. Shared isolation is a new bonding theme 😀
Happy weekend and a very happy visit home!
Have a great weekend, austenfan. I hope it can rejuvenate you!
Have a great three days off, hopefully it will help you power through!
Have a great visit!
Enjoy your time off! You smell marvelous.
Enjoy your time off, and safe travels!
Glad you will get a break — have fun!
I wore Dior Addict before bed last night and it smelled so good I’m wearing it again today. We’re in line for the “rain, ice, heavy snow, 30F temperature drop” so I was glad to get my mom out for a haircut, go pick up a few groceries and a prescription before returning home. Just as I stepped inside, the first flakes started to fall. I guess we skipped the rain? It’s snowing so hard I can’t see across the street!
I never liked the name Dior Addict, but I do think it’s gorgeous–and possibly, addicting! (Although best worn on the subtle side for my preference.) Great cold weather fragrance!
I’m with you, SP – I have avoided several perfumes over the years because of the names.
Should say too, that does not mean that I don’t also love to smell them…
I’m not a fan of the name either, or their old ad campaigns in magazines years ago. Things is a fairly new bottle and the growl is toned down to a purr. Still smells great.
I never tried that Dior because of the name.
I *should* have gone with grapefruit today, but I was in the mood for Ambre Russe. I think my decant has gone sour, because I’m getting major whiffs of Liquid Fence in it. Lovely. I’ll see if I can re-start my perfume day with the help of some dish soap…
Did you get rid of your scrubber, or were you stuck with it?
Fortunately, the dish soap got rid of the worst of it!
Pera granita in the morning from a sample… I liked it. Definitely loads of grapefruit!
Then in the afternoon I wore Iris Torrefie. It’s a weird one, the coffee note is not there sometimes. But today it was a lot of coffee first then a beautiful rooty iris, then a leather handbag feel in the dry down.
That does sound really nice.
SOTD is BBW Grapefruit Breeze–grapefruit, raspberry and lime. Cheap and cheerful. Tomorrow will be Carner Barcelona D600, which has grapefruit in the top notes. Cuddly for the cold weather and office friendly.
I have several loves from BBW. There are great and wonderful smelling things to be found there.
Wearing a sample of Nobile 1942 Perdizione. It’s like Kilian Love Don’t Be Shy but with less sugar and less oomph. I’ll stick with the Kilian.
For anyone who misses it on the sidebar, I’ve updated the Dolly Parton scent with the notes, and you can order samples now on the website
https://nstperfume.com/2021/02/03/dolly-parton-scent-from-above-new-fragrance/
I did, I did! 😀
Sunny and reasonable temps today for Spooky kitty’s vet visit. Her weight has stabilized, and the vet said she was in good condition, just a little skinny.
SOTD = still in Alien Le Gout du Parfum/A Taste of Fragrance EdP. It went well with some of the melting snow.
So glad Spooky was given a clean bill of health.
Not quite a clean bill. The vet wanted to do a blood test to rule out any thyroid issues. So I’m waiting for those results.
Sending chin scritches to Spooky – glad she is doing better.
Thanks! I am relived that the hard work of medicating and making sure she eats the prescription food is paying off.
“medicating Spooky…”
Glad that your weather is better. And that Spooky is eating her “fancy food”.
Thanks Gail! The break in the weather is definitely a temporary one, but I enjoyed it all the same. Spooky likes her “fancy food”, but much prefers Teflon kitty’s food, which she shouldn’t be eating. ? Why is someone else’s bowl more appealing, cat?
We play this game with our furry girls every night. Do they even eat different food? No! Does Ellie still think Kate’s food tastes better? Sure does…
I am glad your vet visit with Spooky went well.
Thanks, stinker_kit! I was a little anxious about it.
That’s a gorgeous photo for today, Robin! I’m grapefruit-adjacent in Perris Monte Carlo Mandarino Siciliano. Wow, it truly smells like I’ve just cut open a very tangy orange, like one of those Mineolas. Love those. I got my box with seven samples yesterday and can tell this is going to be fun!
Just came back from the eye doctor, my vision declined a big amount this past year, to the point where I’ve decided I must go ahead with cataract surgery. Here’s hoping for the best.
Good luck with cataract surgery! ??? One of my friends had that done recently, and she is thrilled with the results. Massive improvement.
Yes, Good luck with cataract surgery! I know quite a few people that had happy results. I ordered the Perris Monte Carlo Osmanthus centric fragrance, a sample of course, from STC. I also bought an entire bottle of Etro Messe de Minuit, the second variant, almost as good as the first batch and greatly superior to the final incarnation.
Good luck — everyone I know who has had it has been amazed at the improvement. I hope the same for you!
I put on Prescriptives Calyx this morning! Several sprays. It’s grapefruit adjacent only but smells pretty good on this cold day. Glad I have this in my collection.
Good stuff, that one is!
SOTD for grapefruit note is Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, one of the fragrances that “scent” me down the rabbit-hole after I read Chandler Burr’s book The Perfect Scent. I love Sur Le Nil, though I love it most in hot weather; it goes really well with the hot humid summers we have here.
BTW, is anyone else having issues with WordPress Reader not showing NST posts? Happy Friday, everyone!
P.S. I figured out that I had to change the URL in my Reader to include /feed/ after nstperfume.com. That seems to have done the trick!
Sorry I was so slow to get back to this post…glad you figured it out!
