Happy Cyber Monday! Also, a couple author birthdays: Mark Twain, Lucy Maud Montgomery. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès L'Ambre des Merveilles.
Reminder: 12/4 is National Cookie Day. Do what you like with the theme, and feel free to link to your favorite recipe.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Wore Lyric preshower and since I have showered, I am commando right this second. Will be wearing Noontide Petals for thus afternoon. Expecting to get tons of snow this evening and tomorrow. Had someone in my department at work quit yesterday and I have to let people know that I have doctors appointments this week and can’t change my appointments. I see that on Luckyscent and the Andy Tauer website, Une Rose Chypree is either out of stock or has been discontinued.
I was looking to purchase Une Rose Chypree, I hope it’s still in production!
Une Rose Chypree is such a great big boss rose, I hope it’s not discontinued. Be safe in the snow! We have lake effect snow bands set up but our county is in the middle and no snow is expected. I love snow but not sad to miss it.
I hope it isn’t discontinued as well. He might be redoing the whole line but who knows.
Oh, I might remember hearing that URC was going out of production. . . I know I felt an urgency to purchase a BuB a while back. That might be why. . .
URV went out of production earlier this year but haven’t heard anything about URC.
Hmm. You might be right that I’m conflating them.
Maybe. This whole year has been confusing.
Stay safe in all the snow!
I hadn’t heard of Une Rose Chypree being discontinued. It would be a shame if that were the case. ?
I’m wearing Samsara edp today.
you smell blissful
Well you smell marvelous!
You smell wonderful!
Commando this morning, unless you count my out of the shower caress soap smell.
Planning on venturing to BG to take advantage of their gift card event and buy some candles for friends for the holidays and maybe something for myself. I am sure I will try on perfume there so I will keep you posted.
Its raining but not that cold. Green silk shirt and black pants
Oh, I love BG – please report back! I do love a nice candle.
Yes, please keep us posted!
Can’t wait for your report!♥️
Didn’t have time to try anything new, was busy picking out gifts
I am sprayed lavishly in Coromandel ?
Enjoy your shopping outing!
Hi all, SOTD is liberal amounts of Youth Dew Bath Oil. Taking SmokeyToes to the vet for a follow up. Keeping fingers crossed his numbers improve and they don’t find anything on the abdominal scan.
Properly caffenated, Holiday cards and packages ready to drop off at the PO.
I’ll have to walk later as too much going on this morning.
Everyone have a lovely day!
Sending positive vibes for SmokeyToes!
Wow holiday cards and packages ready?! You are good!
Best of luck at the vet.
Good luck to Smokey Toes! Hope all is well with him!
Hope everything at the vet is all good news!
Sending good vibes and purrs for SmokeyToes!
Good luck at the vet and hoping for best results!
Fingers crossed for kitty! Like mtg, I am shocked and deeply impressed by the fact that you are already at the cards-and-presents stage. I still need to finish planning.
You and me both.
Good job being so organized. Hope all goes well for SmokeyToes!
Adding my good thoughts for SmokeyToes! And you are smelling fabulous in Youth Dew oil.
You have a busy morning! Sending good vibes for SmokeyToes!
Good luck at the vet.
The good news is Smokey’s blood work improved and he gained 1 lb. The vet is happy – and everyone’s fingers are still attached.
Great news!? SmokeyToes has to be the cutest cat name..
Thanks! He is a handful but we adore him. He’s still stoned from the heavy sedation. His eyes are still dilated.
Yay for a good checkup for SmokeyToes!
Yay! Be well, kitty!
I’m so glad you got a good report on your kitty!
I’m wearing Rose Mallow Creme from Solstice Scents. I smell yummy and delicious even if I don’t smell like a cookie
That does sound yummy.
Don’t forget, the cp says “do what you like with the theme” — if you smell like you’d like to smell when you eat a cookie, hey, you make the rules, right?
I love that one…you smell wonderful!
Wearing 4160 Tuesdays Both Sides of Clouds edp. Going for a bike ride then a trip to the PO. The dog got a bath yesterday and is all soft and fluffy, wish she would stay clean longer but she likes to get dirty.
Dogs will be dogs…..
clean doggy is one of the best smells ever, and not clean is pretty alright too! I have a thing for sniffing pet fur.
Almost every day is national cookie day for me, is that bad?? Although I am equally partial to brownies, my girls made some when I was at work yesterday. The house smelled delicious when I got home.
I’m in Tam Dao and about to take college daughter back to school.?It’s been a lovely visit and she’ll be back in 3 short weeks so I’m not too sad.
You smell good, at least – 3 weeks will pass by fast!
Hoping 3 weeks goes really fast for you. You smell great!
I went with vanilla today (a very loose interpretation of the CP) – Lush American Pie body conditioner and Sylvaine Delacourte Virgile.
By the way, there is an offer on Sylvaine Delacourte’s website:
“Order a 100ml perfume or 2 x 30ml and receive as a gift a 30 ml perfume of your choice with code HOLIDAY”.
That’s a good deal!
Thank you everyone who gave me suggestions over the weekend for a light floral perfume for one of my sisters present. They were all very helpful! I took note of every single one and will make a decision this week. I will report back.
Super rainy and windy day, but not so cold. Wearing SL La Fille de Berlin and debating if I should get a full bottle?. It has been on my shopping list for a while already…
Happy Monday! ?
Not to enable or anything, but YES get a full bottle. Good sales at the discounters will let you splurge and you won’t regret it. I find that when I have a full bottle of something I love, I will wear it with abandon (lots of hajusuuri type sprays!) and feel great!
So true! I spray with reckless abandon when I have a full bottle. I already have it in the cart, but I am still adding few other goodies. I will place the order at any time now.
I second the YES get a bottle!
I will! ?
You’ve thunked quite a few things this year, so I would say get La Fille de Berlin!
I will! ?
Can you pass me that cupcake, Robin?
I’m in Eau Capitale today. The renovations started at my grandma’s today and we’ve got holes in the wall in the kitchen amd bathroom. Tomorrow another crew will come to install the pipes.
Hole in the bathroom wall. . . hope that doesn’t last very long!
No, it should not.
Good luck with those renovations!
Seriously, those cupcakes look great.
I grabbed a Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka sample today, which isn’t exactly cookie like, but it’s cozy and sweet. I like it best when the myrrh is still bright.
While I’ve been telling myself that school is fine, I couldn’t sleep AGAIN last night, so it’s definitely become a Sunday pattern. Must look into better ways to manage my anxiety than fretting all night! Maybe cookies?
Myrrh and Tonka is a good one!
Having been there, my vote is for a gourmand cozy scent before bed instead of the cookies and a walk/ run/ other sort of exercise during the day! ?
You’re definitely right! I do manage to get the exercise in most days, but sometimes a cookie sure does sound easier. ?
Then you are doing much better than me! Cookies from time to time are surely great ?
Awww sleep/night anxiety sucks! Sorry to hear it’s getting to you.
My friend who works as a personal trainer gave me some advice, including dimming lights earlier in the afternoon, taking magnesium and drinking my sleepytime tea a bit earlier in the evening (I prefer ones with hops, like Nighty Night from Traditional Medicinals).
I also got a tub of Olly brand GABA gummies for stress. I suspect they’re mostly placebo effect but right now I am open to anything.
Lastly, I have a little white noise machine (mine is a Marpac Hush which is 100% marketed as for babies but whatever!) It runs 2-3 nights before needing a recharge. I used to just use it for traveling but this year it’s been a lifesaver for when my brain is in anxiety mode and waking up to slight noises will sometimes be cause for hours of interrupted sleep.
That is very good advice teebear! I took magnesium too and apparently helps a lot with anxiety and sleep -it seems we are all deficient nowadays as not very present in the soil, especially in stressful periods when body demands are bigger. It’s hard to disconnect from electronics but if I manage to put my phone aside in the evenings in favour of books I also see a difference. Some colleagues also swear by taking melatonin before bed.. For me it’s great to fall asleep but then sleep is superficial so not worth it.
I have five white noise machines…Earplugs…Eye masks…Magnesium. Sleepy lotion from Lush…lavender pillow spray. CBD roller for nose and wrists.
I MUST SLEEP.
SOTD is the big guns – Uncle Serge’s Ambre Sultan.
I like the Sleepy Time tea, both the flavor and the ritual are so relaxing. Teavana’s Peach Chamomile is also delicious.
I need a good night’s sleep, and use all the tools I can to get it – earplugs, Sleepy time tea, yoga poses (legs up the wall), and lavender pillow spray all help.
I didn’t know about magnesium, should look that up!
Joining you in the school-related restless sleep department today! I’m sorry. We had parent conferences last week, and it was frought and stressful. I think my body held it the stress over to resume after taking a break for Thanksgiving.
Exactly! I’ve experienced that many times over the years—the collapse after a stressful period is over. I guess the problem is that this year, it’s never really over. Wishing you some rest and calm.
Thank you, you too! I’m usually better once I’m in my “routine,” but as you say, there’s no *done* these days. I haven’t worked this many weekends since my first year of teaching.
JM Myrrh and Tonka is cozy!
Good luck in finding a sleep solution that works for you.
Oh, I hate the Sunday Night Dreads!
Wearing Kyoto on this blustery gray Monday. We had a gorgeous clear sunny day Saturday with a spectacular sunset and moon rise so I guess that’s our sun allotment for a while
Kyoto makes me swoon
Kyoto is an amazing perfume!
I really need to try Kyoto. So many raves!
Smelling great today.
You smell fantastic!
SOTD was Chanel 19 edp today.. in the mood for fail safe classics after a few days of gourmand/ cozy overuse. Really helped me to feel sharp and ready to go to work!
No 19 is lovely.
Oh yes! Chanel No.19 doing its work!
No 19 is a good choice
Le Petit Robe Noire Perfecto
Aha, I should wear that this week.
I copied Robin and am wearing L’Ambre des Merveilles today. I don’t have a whole lot of sweet perfumes, and mostly I get caramel corn from L’AdM, but I can sense a cookie tie-in too. Questions for those of you who own FBs of the Merveilles line: does the lack of a cap bother you? Do you leave the bottle as-is or use the little plastic sleeve that comes with the bottle? Just curious.
You mean around the neck? I throw them out.
That’s what I mean – so you don’t worry about the spray nozzle not being covered up?
Nope. I do have to say that any such bottle I put back in the box does have the plastic cover and it’s not to ward against evaporation but rather for not staining the box.
It does not worry me at all, but maybe it should!
Snowing gently in Michigan. My phone is on the blink and ATT is not bringing me another one, so it is a slower than usual Monday at the hospital. SOTD = the sadly discontinued Dilettante by Hiram Green. I have my decant in regular rotation, because I fear it evaporating or going off, so I might as well wear it, right? Not on the cookie theme, but I smell great, if I do say so myself.
I’m your cousin in Slowdive.
Hi, Cuz! LOL.
That’s great of them. Probably very smart publicity wise too and creating a stark difference with competitors. I’m intrigued, what brand is it?
Sorry, wrong place to comment! I wanted to say, I love Dilettante. ?
Yeppers, so sad I don’t discover this before it was canceled. Oh, discontinued. LOL.
Apparently it was discontinued because of not so good sales… I couldn’t believe it as I though it would have been the opposite. Maybe he’ll release as LE at some point in the future?
Oh you DO smell great!
Fun cp! I have just a faint bit of DSH Coffee Absolute left on one arm. That’ll work for coffee to go with those cookies.
Perfect!! I need to see if I have that sample…is it good?
So National Cookie Day (December 4th) just happens to be my birthday….I like cookies better than cake anyway!! I usually travel to celebrate my day, but this year will be from the kitchen to the living room to the den, etc. To celebrate all week I will be wearing perfumes that remind of places I love (or want to visit)….Today, amid the crazy wind and rain, I am in Ineke’s Field Notes from Paris….love it…the perfume and the city!
Happy Birthday Week!!
Looking forward to hearing about your other perfume choices this week!
Great choice Jepster, you smell wonderful! Enjoy your fantasy travel / birthday week.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit…The first day of summer masquerading as early spring, with a cold southerly and grey sky. Still wearing my duvet jacket to walk the dogs. Yesterday was St Andrews Day (30/11) so a fair bit of bagpiping was to be had, as we are a very Scottish-centric city. Off to look at the cemetery rabbits soon, wearing Wander which isn’t cooki adjacent.
Thanks for the Barbara Wheeler clip, Robin. Nice to see it.
Thanks for the rabbit reminder. Now the trick is to remember to do that tomorrow!
I have yet to remember. . . maybe tomorrow will be the day!
Wore a sample of Vert d’ Encens today, but gave the rest to a coworker who liked it.
Got 4160Tuesdays Lady Rose Lion this evening. I get lots of sweet fruit and hay, no chypre to my nose. Will test further, but I think this was not a good blind buy…
Wearing Hempz Pumpkin Spice & Vanilla Chai lotion and Solstice Scents Witch’s Cottage notes are Warm Baked Goods, Dried Herbs, Sweet Annie, Soft Woods, Fragrant Hearth Smoke. I am like a walking spice rack.
Mmmm — that cottage smells wonderful!
That sounds wonderful!
Witch’s Cottage sounds like the perfect shower gel scent for this time of year.
I’m wearing Initio Absolute Aphrodisiac, a spicy vanilla, and very much in keeping with the CP.
Not really happy about it being Monday again. However, I smell delicious, I’m reasonably healthy and I’ve got a job, so I’ve got very little to genuinely complain about.
Let’s waft quickly and gracefully on to another Friday, perfume people!
Wholeheartedly agreeing about it being Monday again…
“I smell delicious, I’m reasonably healthy and I’ve got a job…” I thoroughly appreciate this logic, because it means I am also doing A-OK.
Happy start of the week! I’m in Selperniku Extrait to bring some cheer on a cloudy day, and breakfast was some raisin and cheese danish and a nice strong moka coffee with cream.
Just finished several weeks of production insanity on a contract and am back to underemployed pace today. I love making money and feeling useful, BUT the pandemic added yet another layer of potential anxiety to what is normally a stressful artistic project on its own.
So I’m equally relieved it’s over, and my ability to check in on NST again and sleep regular hours is making me ultra happy today!
Glad you’re back, teebear!
Sleep and less stress, these are good things
Monday! Well I think I am about caught up on the Thanksgiving dishes. I swear they have been breeding the past few days.
I’m not a gourmand person so my interpretation of this week’s CP will be cookie ingredients. SOTD is SL Rousse, I smell like cinnamon… ok, more like cinnamon red-hots than cinnamon cookies
Dirty dishes have genuine gremlin qualities.
I don’t mind dishes, but Thanksgiving ones are not fun. Lots of scrubbing and grease!
I just did another load of Thanksgiving dishes in the dishwasher today. Mine are starting to thin out.
SOTD = Molton Brown Bizarre Brandy
I can either drink brandy or add brandy to cookies. I won’t do either because no brandy nor do I like the taste of it.
In other news, there are MANY offers out there for Black Friday sales (which started on November 1st ?), continuing on to Cyber Monday and beyond, with or without discount codes. One thing to beware is some perfume boutiques charge more than the typical, some even as high as 32% more! While I like to support Small Business, marking up will not only turn away people, it will piss off people who ended up getting fleeced. I didn’t get fleeced but I was gobsmacked at what I saw! Buyer beware or don’t buy at all until you’ve done your research. I have found LuckyScent to be a good benchmark of MSRP.
So true! Not perfume related, but I think I saw that on the Williams Sonoma site, and of course Kohls does it all the time, too. It does really turn me off big time.
Right? And this should realty’s our me to research before buying.
Heh. I bought a new carry on suitcase at Macy’s Black Friday sale. They had it discounted something like 80%. I checked the manufacturer site, where it was also on sale. Original price was much, much less. Sale price in Macy’s was by far the best around…they just lied about the size of discount. Silly.
? but were you more likely to buy at 50% off vs 80% off if the amount you end up paying is the same regardless of the discount? In any case, the % offs usually make me look at other places before I trigger a buy, if at all.
The original price listed at Macy’s seemed overly expensive, so that’s what drove me to check MSRP. For something advertised as BF sale in large store, I expect more than 30% discount. (Small business less of a discount). But, ultimately, the price I pay is most important. Plenty of things can be 80% off amd still out of my price range. ?
One of my favourite brands raised their prices on Black Friday to make people more aware of sustainability and consumerism. I thought it was a great idea. The extra $ was donated to Greta Thunberg’s sustainability Fridays project .
That’s great of them. Probably very smart publicity wise too and creating a stark difference with competitors. I’m intrigued, what brand is it?
It’s a shoe company that started by making merino wool, seamless sneakers (Allbirds) . I think other companies (Patagonia, REI ) did similar things
That’s good as long as they made sure it was well-publicized.
Totally agree. Even some deep discount perfume sites will offer 30% off, and the cost is still lower at department stores on non-sale days. Always prudent to check.
Caveat emptor is always worth keeping in mind!
I’m sharing the winter weather with Kanuka – I must sound like a broken record, but this spring really has been disappointing. Now it’s officially the first day of summer and we’re still got the winter duvet on the bed.
Perfume always helps! The references to Hiram Green have reminded me of Shangri-La, so that’s my choice for today.
You smell wonderful, I love Shangri La!
Not that it is any consolation, but sounds like the spring we had last year. Hope it warms up for you!
Late check-in! Decided to play Scentbird roulette this morning, and landed on Versace Dylan Blue pour Femme. Meh! It’s perfectly ok but it doesn’t spark any exciting reactions in my brain….
Doing one last FragranceNet haul this week….I can’t stop myself! Cyber Monday has to include a little bit for my collection, right?
I have a feeling fragrancenet is busy today
Slowdive this morning, from my little Luckyscent sample. In some ways, this doesn’t read as perfume to me – I simply smell like christmas (or more specifically, 100% beeswax candles). Love it!
Wow! I get a lot of honey, but there’s that weird hay note that keeps it from being waxy to my nose. The honey note is my fave part of the scent, though.
Same here, Marjorie Rose. I get a super-duper intense, drippy honey.
It’s really perfect for gourmand time. For me it’s like chewing on a honeycomb ☺️
Estee Lauder Private Collection
I was in this this afternoon when I needed to feel fierce, fresh and professional!
Oh, one of my favorite EL perfumes!
Mitsouko, which I received for Christmas some years back.
Those cupcakes are gorgeous. I do need to plan out my cookies for the season. Beyond sugar cookies, I’ll make my dark chocolate wafer. Thinking of mixing in some broken up candy cane in the dough,,.,
Dark chocolate cookies with broken candy cane — that sounds perfect!
I’m wearing my favorite lavender perfume today—which has nary a drop o’lav in it! No idea why this perfume strikes me as a lavender perfume–but it pulls this magic trick every time. My search for the Holy Grail of lavender has led me ELDO’s Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection. It’s my ‘yes, we have no bananas (or lavender!), we have-a no bananas today perfume.’
I like your photo. Where is it? Great that you have found the perfect lavender…wot, no lavender! – perfume.
It’s Oakland. Lake Merritt–about a mile from my house. Pre COVID I would perambulate weekly. The path in places is too narrow for social distancing–but hopefully, soon, things will get better. Come visit! https://oaklandside.org/2020/10/21/a-new-film-celebrates-lake-merritts-150th-anniversary-as-the-nations-first-wildlife-refuge/
I don’t like cookies. What, you can’t make a pie, cake, or even some muffins? They sort of make me mad when they’re offered as a dessert. So I would never want to smell like a cookie. No perfume. I’m working in my sleep shirt, think I somehow got the covid. Three days of sort of icky, but according to the news, I should get into the death zone in the next couple days. I’m not concerned, not around any people.
It’s very difficult to dunk pie into a cup of tea though. Hope you get better soon.
Thanks, feeling frisky. I’ll allow biscotti, but to dunk in coffee. I’m side eying all other cookies, especially those ones with jelly sneaked into them.
Biscotti in coffee is the best!! I still like cookies and cake etc, but I do think you’ve nailed one of the great pleasures of life right there.
Feel better soon!
Are you getting tested Baby Dumpling?
I got tested today. I’ve been largely staying away from people for the most part for a long time now, always wear mask indoors and outdoors around other people. Life breaks through. Other than the headache and the loss of smell I’m fine with the occasional body ache and low grade fever. Very small cough.
SOTD is some Une Rose Chypree, inspired from the conversation above. Haven’t worn this one in a while. Still lovely.
I keep cookie dough in my freezer so I can make cookies whenever I decide I want some. Right now I have 3 logs of Cream Cheese Icebox Cookies, from the Joy of Cooking (edition from about 20 years ago?). I rolled the outsides in colored sugar, and I slice them thin, so there’s wonderful, creamy sugar cookie with crunchy, slightly caramelized sugar on the edges. Yum!
The Joy of Cooking is really the only cookbook you need. It has everything, except maybe foams….
My copy of Joy is literally falling apart. Pages flop out of the binding all the time. But I love it, and I kinda like the idea that it’s become this relic of all sorts of cooking experiments and traditions. Hopefully, when I pass on, someone keeps it as a memento of all the lovely meals they’ve shared with me.
I really love looking at (and eating) chichi food, but I’ve never appreciated foam as a culinary texture.
I have never made or eaten a foam, as far as I know. . . does meringue count?
Foams! ? I’ve recently been re-watching old episodes of Top Chef, and inappropriate use of foams comes up a lot.
Those sound yummy! I rely heavily on Joy of Cooking as well.
The recipes are so reliable. It’s definitely my go-to.
Cream cheese icebox cookies. I remember those. I might have to make some. With added coco, I think.
They’re delish! You won’t regret it.
Oh, meant to say, I have been scheduled for my next blog post, next Tuesday, Dec. 8th, on fitness and fragrance pairings. I will post a link on the day, if Robin doesn’t mind. Thank you all for your help with it!
I look forward to it! Did you see the article about olfactory perception and motivation? I’m considering getting the book… In the article the writer says the scents that he wore in his youth to exercise motivate him now in his later years – coppertone and Polo – or something! I’v mentioned that I like citrus and vetiver scents to exercise in but recently I’v been wondering about melon/calone scents? The closest I have is Apres La Mousson… Perhaps I should try it. I would actually like a watermelon scent but not sure of any widely distributed ones?
Yes, you mean the article in Psychology today? I think that will have to be a separate posting, since we try to limit ourselves to under 1000 words, and I think my post is already longer than that. . . . Besides, more articles on sniffies means more chances to rope people into perfumistahood! Ahem. . . I mean, more chances to share my love of perfume.
I’m not a fan of either melon or calone notes, so I’m no good as a reference to how they might mix with working out. I definitely don’t have anything watermelony in my collection. Maybe someone else will have recs?
Sure, the one in Psychology Today – Robin posted it just before the this daily forum.
I’m not too much into calones either. That 90s trend missed me ? But I constantly crave watermelon in the summer so I was thinking a scent might be nice… Would need to be more specific – and way more juicy – than that vague watery melon note.
Something else I like for exercising on my own (not in a gym or class) is Lush’s Avocado Co-Wash. It’s SWeet so only one spray but the effervescent citrus qualities work for me. Their Calacas, which smell like lime gummy sweets, might work too but I don’t (yet?) own it. Oh – and white musk (for me SMN’s Muschio Oro which is like strong aldehydes and soap, drying down with some citrus rind and incense).
I get what you mean about watermelon. That’s how I feel about strawberries!
Ooh this sounds fascinating! Looking forward to it.
Floris Honey Oud today. I just love this one.
Back to salad for lunch- waaaaay too many carbs were eaten over the past few days! I love to bake so maybe I’ll make a few batches of cookies to take into the office this week.
I’m not back in the office but if I’m not mistaken, the donated baked goods are no longer allowed.
They are at my office- we get tested regularly and they’re basically “take at your own risk” kinda thing. People bring in stuff all the time. I usually don’t take it because I watch what I eat but it goes pretty fast lol.
Wearing Dior Addict today.
I have pulled out my recipes and am looking to bake a ‘trial batch’ of Toblerone shortbread; this year I will experiment as a whipped shortbread version. How bad can that be?
I tried making shortbread once during my cookie baking days. Not a success for me.
Sorry it wasn’t a good result for you. I stumbled across this particular recipe awhile ago and its pretty good, but this year I want to try it whipped instead. I’m hoping it will be ok!
That’s OK. I used to make some killer peanut butter cookies… I had to immediately freeze the batch, or my dad would eat them all!
I’d like to hear how your cookie experiment turns out.
Mmmm Dior Addict!
Thank you, h!
I smell like lemon pie in A Sweet Pastry in Paris. There is a blurb on the box where the perfumer describes a boring trip back from work being interrupted by the smell of lemon pie wafting from the bakery and succumbing to the temptation. This basement bargain has been my holy grail for a couple of weeks.
That sounds great! I just ordered a couple of Zara perfumes, of which this was one, and your description is reassuring me about breaking my no-unsniffed shopping vow yet again…
Honestly it’s the only Zara item I actually own. I find a lot of their scents pleasant but short-lived. I did like one from the Jo Malone line of theirs but wasn’t moved to actually purchase. I should test all the ones from that range. Which ones have you ordered? I think the men’s tobacco range sounds nice but the store near me doesn’t carry them.
That sounds amazing ? I had written off Zara perfumes.. will need to give them a sniff one of these days!
If you like gourmands then definitely give THAT ONE a sniff ? I can’t vouch for the quality of their scents more generally! ?
In the almond and anis Italian confection that is Mandorlo di Sicilia.
That sounds divine.
It is, it’s an oldie but goodie this one. ?
Oh, great cookie scent! Never smelled that perfume, but I still crave those cookies from my trip to Sicily. Friend that I went with and I kept saying (after we got back) we needed to have a cookie making party, but we never did. Maybe after we get through COVID.
Glad my sotd reminds you of a happy tine abroad. No rush as it’s not going anywhere I think, but do try it one day. I’m a fan of the AdP Mediterraneo line.
SotD = Eau des Merveilles, because why not!?
Back to school today after the break, and it feels rather abrupt. Oh well, it’s good to go back to a routine.
Have a wonderful Monday, everybody. It’s lovely to read your scent choices and imagine the cloud of scent we would create if we could all be together.
Yes to Hermes for Mondays! ?
yah, I was feeling the Monday blues for sure. EdM cheered me up instantly.
Yes to Hermès everyday!
And my phone is very smart to place the accent!
ha! that is a smart perfumista phone.
Indeed! This could be part of one of those “# Signs You’re a Perfumista” lists.
Wearing Mancera’s Roses Vanille which could be interpreted as cookie-like. Still working on my sample-winnowing project,
Roses Vanille is super yummy!
I’m a big fan too!
Re-sprayed from my sample of Bengale Rouge to fit with the theme. It smells so sweet and soft from the myrrh and the tonka that its almost a gourmand.
I was sad when I used up my sample of this one…
Bengale Rouge very much smelled like spiced Russian honey cake to me!
Really yucky weather today! I will admit that we had several rather nice days recently, so I’ve been a little spoiled. But enough with all these Watches and Warnings!
Just had a blast of thunder that scared the daylights out of both the cats. Poor Spooky kitty is hiding behind the sofa right now. ??
SOTD = still in Wrappings EdP.
Stay safe. When I lived in the northeast US and had two cats I always knew where to find them during a storm. One would hide under the bed, the other would sit in a windowsill watching the flashes of lightning!
Thanks tiffanie! Thankfully, the truly nasty weather was short-lived. No fallen trees or power outages for me tonight.
Wrappings! And the weather is supposed to continue like this on and off tomorrow.
Since I have a bottle, now I can try Wrappings in the summer! Assuming I remember to do that…
What a coincidence! I made a batch of cookies this afternoon. This isn’t necessarily my favorite cookie recipe (not sure I could pick a favorite cookie, any more than I could pick a favorite perfume), but it’s what I made today:
I wore Indochine today for my last ortho appointment. Must have been wafting; the nurse wanted to know what I was wearing. When someone can detect fragrance through a mask, maybe I’m wearing too much? Anyway, the good news is my finger fractures are both healed. I’ll have 1-2 more PT sessions and then I’ll be turned loose to play on my own. ?
Congratulations on having your last ortho appointment and the good news you got there!
Thanks Jalapeno! I’ll be glad to be hanging closer to home now.
Geat news about your fractures! So glad for you!
Thanks M! It was a real relief.
That’s such good news all around. And making cookies while you are still healing! ?
Has anyone else had an order from Lucky Scent in which they got none of their requested samples? I just received my order (of two FBs), and of the six samples included, not a one of them was one I requested. It makes me wonder if got somebody’s else’s samples by mistake.
Lucky Scent has great customer service, so I’d suggest emailing them. I’m sure they’ll make it right for you. Congrats on your new bottles!
It’s two bottles of April Aromatics. The bottles aren’t for me, or at least one of them isn’t. Calling All Angels is my husband’s Christmas gift. The second bottle (Ray of Light) I haven’t decided yet whether to give it to him or keep it for myself. I burned through my sample vial of it in no time. It doesn’t have great lasting power, as is to be expected for a citrusy scent, but while it lasts it is fantastic.
A couple of the samples I requested were a bit pricer (~$8 samples vs. $4 for some of the cheaper ones), but I have requested and received such samples before. I could understand if one or two of my choices had not been included–they could perhaps have been out of stock–but to get none of my choices seemed odd.
I haven’t ordered from LuckyScent lately but all the times I have, I got the samples I requested. I always add an extra request in case one of the ones I liked was not available (and sometimes I get the extra one too).
SOTD is Calyx, which is one that I got in the Sephora sale. It was pretty much my signature scent in the mid-90s, and then I started sneezing violently whenever I wore it, so hadn’t had any for probably 20 years. I assume that some reformulation has occurred, but at least I’m not sneezing now! I still love it, but it’s funny that I think of it as GREEN when, at least according to Tania Sanchez’s review in The Guide, it should be “pink” (guava and rose).
I don’t see Calyx as a pink scent, either.
I’m here I’m here!?
Long busy day.
Sotd is Shalimar edc. Lemon cookie.. maybe.
Hi lillyjo! Smelling wonderful in your Shalimar. Hope you have a good rest!
