It's Monday and World Teachers’ Day. RIP Kenzo Takada, who died of Covid-19 on Sunday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Kenzo Air. (The matching song would have to be something like Two of Us.)
Reminder: on 10/9 we're doing Beatlemania...celebrate John Lennon's birthday by naming your favorite Beatles or John Lennon song, and wear the perfume to match.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try (but frequently fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning Y’all,
Back in Estee Lauder Knowing! I’ve been craving it lately and have worn it several times in the past couple of weeks. It’s so cozy and warm and spicy….perfect for cool mornings.
Have a great week everyone! This is our Fall Break later this week, so hoping to see Cumberland Island for the 1st time. Crossing my fingers, ’cause so far every single travel plan this year has fallen thru. I need to GO GO GO! 🙂
I need to revisit the Lauder scents. I have Bronze Goddess and I love Azuree, but most of what I tried I tried at the beginning of my perfume journey when I may not have been quite ready for the style of the classic Lauders.
I bought Azuree this year, but I don’t think it will work well for me until the coldest days of winter. It’s really great though. I also have a bottle of Spellbound that I’ve been saving for cold weather….it’s almost time! 🙂
OH! I LOVE Spellbound! It’s such an amazing scent.
You smell wonderful today! Knowing is glorious.
You smell so good, Jada.
You smell wonderful; I recently wore Knowing and it’s one of my best, in that it smells good from first spritz to next-day linger. I lived in in GA for 27 years and always meant to go to Cumberland, but never got it together to go. Everyone that did go loved it – GO GO GO!
I can’t wait to get there….even though it’s supposed to rain. I want to travel so badly that I just don’t care! LOL
RIP Kenzo 🙁
I’m wearing Chanel No. 5 L’eau, which always makes me feel like a fancy professional lady.
So mandy of the Chanel’s have that fancy professional lady aura about them ☺️
Chilly, but sunny morning.
RIP Kenzo Takada.
Wearing Kenzo Flower Oriental. My favorite from Kenzo, along with Amour, Flower and Jungle L’Elephant. I will may wear them this week, since I barely reach for them these days.
Happy Monday, everyone!
Almost went for the elephant today… should have gone for the elephant.
I may wear L’Elephant tomorrow.
The elephant never lets you down.
Flower Oriental is lovely
It is! Warm and cozy.
What is Flower Oriental like? I’ve never seen that one.
Up early on my week off to have my new microwave installed.
Maybe le labo tea noir post shower.
If you were up early, hopefully that is long since sorted and you are relaxing 🙂
Enjoying myself in Puredistance Rubikona. Such an exquisite composition.
Such a shame for the loss of Kenzo Takada. He achieved great things in life.
Kenzo Winter Flowers for me today, which might work for Norwegian Wood.
Yes, nice match plus you smell great!
I had another physical therapy appointment today, so I went for Azemour, from a new decant.
You smell fantastic! Good luck with the physio.
Azemour is great 🙂
Hope that your PT appointment went well!
In Shalimar today. Thought it would be good on this cold day. But somehow that raunchy side is quite prominent today and I’m not digging it. Although I have worn and loved it on other days…
I read or heard somewhere there is the Mitsouko person and the Shalimar person – but one doesn’t love both. If so, today I would firmly position myself in the Mitsouko camp.
Mitsouko for me, too.
I actually like and wear both of them.
I dislike both. 😉
I’m with you!
For me, the l’heure bleue vs. Shalimar would work better. Though I have only a Mitsouko sample I’ve never really given much attention to!
You ‘must’ spend some time with Mitsouko ?
And what would it be for you? L’Heure or Shalimar?
Shalimar. L’heure, I cannot wear but I can wear the “inspired by” scents, like sacrebleu.
Maybe I’m in the easy to please club, but I truly like all three of them. Shalimar is a true love. ❤️
Yes
Me too,but L’Heure Bleue is my favorite favorite, beating Shalimar by a millisecond…then Jicky and then Mitsouko.?
Hmm. If I had to rank ‘em, it would be Shalimar, L’Heure Bleue, Mitsouko and Jicky. I actually swapped away a bottle of Jicky early in my perfumistahood because I didn’t really understand it. Now, that bottle is The One That Got Away. ?
Mitsouko sometimes works for me, but Shalimar never will.
RIP Kenzo
In Shalimar Initial
Clarins red water stain lippy, they said its lasts? after two cups of coffee, breakfast its still going strong. who knew..
I wondered about the Clarins one…
Its not bad at all, I got it as a sample when I bought my eye cream.
It’s always so great when samples work out, especially lip products. You smell great today! ?
Thank you Nancyleandros
Red can be a little tricky.
This is my second large sample size of Shalimar PI-working out beautifully today
Off to google this lipstick
Wearing Oliban by Keiko Mecheri from my sample drawer. It feels like fall is coming on strong outside. Layering wool sock and sweaters this morning and a dose of woody incense to round out a cozy day indoors.
Wow, it is cold there! It was cold enough here for the heat to come on but now it’s sunny and in the 60s, which is fine with me.
Well, that’s awful to hear. What a loss for fashion, R.I.P Kenzo Takada.
In Avon’s Rare Rubies this morning, it’s a fun Christmas candle of a scent. Quite comforting.
He had long since retired (I think in ’99?) but yes.
Wearing Killian Love Don’t Be Shy to pair with Love Me Do
Oh good one!
This rainy, windy day is sort of bearable in the cozy and not-summery-coconutish Memo Lalibela.
Have a good (smelling) day!!
That’s odd, I have and love Lalibela but never noticed a coconut aspect to it (though that is a note I love). Must revisit soon!
RIP Kenzo Takada. ? Today will be Amour Indian Holi in his honor, with Amour Le Parfum cued up for tomorrow. I love the benzoin base in these.
Have been in a slump and lurking for ages. Trying to get back into the swing!
Nice to see you!
Thank you, lillyjo! I hope you are doing well today.
Can’t complain, but probably will anyway ?
I hope you are also well.
?Yes.
You smell great! Indian Holi is a beautiful scent and sadly discontinued. I enjoyed my fb while it lasted.
Thanks, perfumelover67! It is one of my fall faves, and I bought a BUB when I still could. Let me know if you would like a decant. ?
lotta slumping going on…
Is good to know we’re not alone. ?
waving hello..welcome back
Thanks so much!
Really sorry you’ve been in a slump AnneE. So many of us are, that you might as well join in even during — and even if you’re not interested in talking about perfume.
Robin, you’re the best! And so right. ❤️
Hi!And welcome back!Slumps…meh…same here!
Happy Monday!?
Happy Monday to you as well, johanob! Although yours is almost over, I suspect. And thanks. ?
Yup,22:46,should be lights out but I am listening to the rain, and the frogs are NUTS tonight!Haha!✌??
Listening to the rain while in bed – a wonderful treat! Frogs? I’m not sure. ?
Ooh, I love Amour le Parfum. It smells gorgeous on me, and is so long lasting. Works better for me than the EdP.
You do smell gorgeous!
Happy to see you posting! Feel free to chat even if there is no perfume involved. ?
You’re so sweet, thanks!
Waving hi! Nice to see you, Ann! I would have worn Amour Indian Holiday today too if I still had any. You smelled great.
Hey there’s, rabbitsflower! Thank you for your hello! Nice to see you, too. ?
I’m in Tihota. Another sample plunked. I’m glad I tried this, but I don’t need more.
Chilly but sunny here. I’ll take it.? I’m off today and I have a list of miscellaneous stuff to get done. We started watching Flesh and Blood on PBS last night and it looks like it’s gonna be a good whodunnit.
Oh good, I was trying to decide if that was worth watching!
RIP Kenzo. It was nice to have a bit of a retrospective of his career, though — brought me back to the ’80s when I was really into fashion (though no budget to buy / wear it — I was a teen). I’ve somehow never tried his perfumes, though…sounds like I should.
I’m in Mona di Orio Violette Fumee, another thunking of an old sample. Fits the fall day well. I’ve always liked this one, but never quite enough to spend that much money.
I got mine at 30% off which made it more palatable.
Woke up in the reminence of Lyric. Since I have showered, wearing a tiny dab of Deneuve today. Another candle finished last night and will be starting a new one tonight after work.
Dawn, you are seriously going through candles! I take a year or more to finish one — I clearly need to work harder.
When you had almost 40 candles and not a lot of space, they needed to be used. I figure a candle a week, I should be in better shape. I am now down to 28.
Thunking candles faster than I can get another perfume storage box opened!Haha!
Well done.
I had to start a cull. My aunt and I are in a competition on who can use up the most candles before Candle Day.
SOTD: Le Pavillon D’Or
This scent reminds me of my grandmother or some reason. I don’t know what she wore but it’s her. For that reason alone I love it.
Eager to read all the book ideas from this weekend so better hurry up and get through my work to enjoy that post!
I ended up with quite a list!
RIP Kenzo. I have a couple of his scarves I bought in Paris, and used to wear his summer scent, the bottle in the shape of a leaf.
Another cool, damp fall day, wearing JM Orris Sandalwood.
You smell nice!
Lovely. And I admired that Kenzo perfume bottle myself.
Hdp 1740, for an ambery fall ambience – the morning is cool, the air seems ok, and we’ll get only to the low 90s today!
I miss the low 90’s…
You can have it ?
Same here! It was too hot all summer but of course now it is too cold.
Actually, when it only gets up to 92 or so for a couple of hours, it’s quite pleasant!
RIP Kenzo. Today I will be in Juicy’s Gold Couture. From what I can sniff with the cap on the sample, it smells kinda dynamite, and that’s what I am looking for today.
Happy (or any approximation thereof) Monday all!
Good, hope it was dynamite!
SOTD is MFK Aqua Celestia. It would pair nicely with Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, although that didn’t occur to me until just now – I really was just checking to see if I should leave it out for fall, or put it away now that the warm weather seems to be pretty much over. I ended up putting it away, which left a hole on the perfume shelf … which of course made me wonder what I could acquire to fill the hole (as if I don’t have things to put there!) In the end I adjusted how the existing bottles are spaced, to eliminate the visual “need”. 🙂
You Tetrised your out in the open perfume collection ?
I did indeed. 😀
Nice pairing!
55 degrees and sunny here. After 3 different samples, I finally settled on wearing the last drops of Cafe Rose. Today is my Friday, thank goodness.
Enjoy your “weekend”! ?
I will! Looks like the weather will be on the pleasant side.
Happy Friday. I hope your phone call goes well!
I left a message. Hoping to hear back tomorrow. Fingers crossed it goes well.
Fingers, toes and eyes crossed!
I really enjoy Cafe Rose. The first two times I wore it, I got compliments on it.
I like it too. Of course, I’m still on the hunt for a favorite rose, lol.
Happy Early Friday!I hope your week is wonderful!?
You smelled so pretty today! ???
1) Goodbye, Master Takada.
2) Am in Carol’s Daughter Angel Food body cream- I just needed a
hot shower and self massage this morning. Angel Food is a spicy rose and vanilla scented cream that feels really good going on and really nice for massage on your legs, belly and arms.
3) Doing plans to redo the downstairs powder room.
Carol’s Daughter makes a black vanilla conditioner that I wish someone could make into a real perfume!SO good.
SOTD = Maya Njie Nordic Cedar
Thanks to Jessica’s review. I was clued in on the Maya Njie’s current 5-perfume collection.
Nordic Cedar is musky, spicy, woody patchouli ?. Like Vanilj, which I wore yesterday, it is on the light, skin scent side although quite long lasting. Vanilj lasted about 8 hours and I expect Nordic Cedar to last approximately that long as well!

Here’s a look at the packaging, which I ❤️.

Nice looking collection there!
Good Morning all, my SOTD is vintage Parfum d’Ete, in honor of Master Takada’s passing. I saved my original bottle from when I was a fragrance SA in 1993.
Kenzo’s designs were so magical. I remember seeing an exhibit at SF Museum of Modern Art, Kenzo, Issey Miyake, and Hanae Mori were all featured designers. Their use of design, innovative fabrics, and silhouettes, were genius. I left the exhibit stunned at the beauty and creativity.
I’m headed out for a walk, I had loads of homework this weekend and didn’t manage to get outside. I am very thankful this recent HR class is nearly completed – Thursday 10/8 is the last class. This professor is HARD. I’ve been doing so much thinking my hair hurts… 😯
Nice you have a challenge with your professor to keep you on your toes
Yep! I will be glad when his class is complete. He has another class available in mid-October that I was going to take along with a second class, but I’ve since reconsidered!
That’s a good memory! And you smell wonderful. I have the vintage Parfum d’ete, Elephant (jury is still out on it), Flower, and Winter Flowers. All except Elephant are quite different from what I prefer, but very much enjoyed by me. I am in Flower today.
Enjoy your walk!
Rest In peace, Kenzo. Wearing L’Eau Par Kenzo in his honor. Also in the last bit of 1907 Mon Ame from a decant.
It’s back to warmer, more humid weather here, plus we’re keeping an eye on Gamma and Delta in the gulf. Ugh.
Was just talking to a colleague and we were lamenting that Louisiana and the Gulf Coast just could not catch a break!
It’s been a tough year for so many people.
Ambre de Merveilles for the begin of fall and lower temps.
After many telephone ca!ls ma aged to get a covid test today, of Physician does them on the terrace of his practise, so we all cued up on the sidewalk along the house.
Now waiting for the results….but i am not allowed to work until i am negative, so extra holidays….
Since the vacation was voluntary, so you get paid anyway? Asking for a friend.
If I am quarantined by law, I think I will be paid and my boss can get his money back from the state, but it’s Germany… Don’t know how they handle this elsewhere
I hope your results are good. I wore that scent yesterday–I like it, but not more than the original or the Elixir.
Good luck tannina!
Blustery weather here over the last few days. It’s typical for this time of year, but that doesn’t make it less annoying 🙂
I’m in the mood for iris today and have decided on Guerlain’s AA Figue-Iris.
Hope the Figue-Iris kept you cheerful 🙂
Our first proper Spring rain arrived!Listening to the drops hitting my windows while I type!
RIP Kenzo Takada,I fell in love with Amour in the beautiful fuschia bottle.
SOTD,The myrrh and the drama of Eau d’Iparie! How did L’Occitane decide to discontinue this?Wierd choice to work,on a Monday, but in the overcast slightly cool weather,it was wonderful.
Petrichor in the air.
Happy week fellow earthlings!
XO
I think they are making it again!
I saw on another site that they re-issued it in 2016-my own personal Annus Horribilis…no wonder I missed the news.Lol.
Lalalalalala ?
I remember reading very good things about it on Frangrantica.
I am wearing Wild Jasmine today. It is a small perfume solid I bought from the Basin store in Orlando, Florida while on vacation last year.
This morning was my yearly mammogram, so I couldn’t wear perfume, deodorant or lotion. I packed my Wild Jasmine solid in my purse for after the test was over.
I couldn’t wait to get fragranced 🙂
Bet it was a relief to get some perfume on, wasn’t it?
Yes it was ?
I’m wearing Initio’s Oud for Greatness today, from an absolutely fabulous GWP package from a Sniffapalooza event a while back. Yep, I fell in love with several of the perfumes sampled, and caved (only bought one, though – they’re not cheap). Donatella was whispering in my ear, and I’m not sorry.
Oud for Greatness is potent. Warm, smoky, spicy, strong and dark. It goes on with a bang, but settles down fairly quickly. I’ve only been wearing it for an hour, so I can’t speak to its longevity, but I suspect it’s going to be long lasting.
Monday, again. Thankfully, I am fortified by scent.
I have not done a full wearing of Oud for Greatness yet but I bet you smell great! The GWPs were fabulous!
I do smell good. As do you!
That’s the sniffapalooza that went away – I registered without noticing the East Coast time! Sounds like I would have seen a few familiar faces. Next time!
A gloomy start to this Monday. The morning’s rain cleared up, but there have been plenty of clouds hanging around afterwards. Meh.
SOTD = more Chamade EdT. I usually think of it as a springtime perfume, but it works equally well in autumn, too. ???
Do you think Chamade is transitional?
I do. There’s enough going on with Chamade that it doesn’t get lost with the recent ups and downs we’ve had with our temps.
I have a massive amount of Chamade but never really seem to wear it.
That’s too bad. But I understand, too. I’ve had my little sample for quite a while now, and it’s only been in the past week that I dug it out from the stash and started wearing it again. So much perfume, and so little time.
I’m late again, too many distractions. I wasn’t sure what to wear but saw my pretty bottle of McQueen which I sometimes leave out on my dresser just because it’s so pretty, so I put that on, and enhanced it with the body cream. Yum! It’s still very warm and summery here, though in the mid-80’s not the mid-90’s, so it feels pleasant and I went for a good walk this afternoon. That stupid toe injury from a month ago is still bothering me–it’s the stupidest thing! I might have to go get a Covid test soon because they are hoping to open up Mom’s place for indoor visitation soon. They’ve had to set up two big plexiglass “rooms” and are now waiting for the final instructions and approvals from the state. It’s scary in many ways. How long will it be before the curve goes up again? Anyway, the rule will be that you must provide proof of a recent Covid-negative test and it has to be the PCR nasal swab kind. I’m dreading it. I can still do outdoor visits, which will be quite pleasant at least for a while longer in our mild climate, and seem safer overall, too. Good for the residents to get out and have some fresh air!
That’s nice that you’ll have a choice between inside and outside. It’s likely you could visit her into November without having to be tested! ?
Toes take what seems like an absurdly long time to heal.
