It's Hump Day, International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer and B.B. King’s birthday. A belated moment of silence, please, for Toots Hibbert (see video below or the obituary at BBC), who died of Covid-19 related complications on the 12th, and Diana Rigg, who died of cancer on the 10th (obituary at BBC). What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Boy Chanel, and pretending I can't hear ya'll nattering on about Lion de Chanel.
Reminder: on 9/18 the topic is Soft spot...wear a perfume that you may or may not wear often, and may or may not really love, but that remains dear to you for some other reason. Suggested by Kanuka.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try (but frequently fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

House twin!?
I havent had much time to think about the cp, sorry.
SotD is MAAI
I am in a boring call right now.
Wake me up ?
Well at least I smell fantastic ?
I sympathize on the boring calls!
Hope that boring call is long since over and the day improved!
Wearing Péché Cardinal and Tubéreuse Criminelle. TC is just the leftovers from yesterday PC is new.
Only a few more boxes and I’m done.
Had my hair cut today but as it is hot, I’ve put it up again, so it does not bother me.
that reminds me – I must get a haircut. Channeling too much of the “wild lady of the woods” right now. Hope you get done soon!
I had not been since March. Unfortunately she did not take enough off, but I will just have to find a new hairdresser rather more quickly than I had anticipated. I’m kind of haphazard with my visits to the hairdresser. I have very thick curly/wavy hair and no matter what I do, it will never look disciplined, so visits to hairdressers don’t need to be that frequent.
I’ve given up on avoiding the “wild lady of the woods” look. I’ve simply got too much hair to fight it.
I need to find some of those “How to Cut Your Own Bangs” videos Robin mentioned. lol. As short as my bangs ended up when I made Mom cut them, they’re down in my eyebrows again.
Moving twins! Our movers come tomorrow as well.
House twin in Box of Eels. It’s time to dig out the fall scents and switch my perfume tray out a bit.
Slept much better last night. What a day! madtownteen and I were able to FaceTime with my mom last evening and she actually looked and sounded better than I had expected. Her knee surgery went well. My son is halfway to his destination and he is actually letting me follow him on find my friends for the first time ever. In the midst of all that, I had to get swabbed for Covid yesterday because I was exposed at work on Labor Day. Results came back late last night, negative thankfully. Then….I got a call yesterday afternoon with a job offer for the interview I had last week. I accepted! I’m so excited, nervous, just all the emotions.?
I’m hoping today is a little less “eventful” lol.
Oh I’m so happy for you about the job!!!
?for your mom’s knee surgery going well and your son letting you follow him. How do I do that with my son? It’s a phone thing?
Congratulations again on the job! Yay you!
Thanks lillyjo!? I’ve been wanting a position like this for almost 4 years. I was so happy when I got the call that I almost started crying, but I couldn’t cause I was at work, lol.
Yes, “Find Friends” is an app on my iPhone. It came already on my phone like maps, weather, etc. My mom actually showed me how to use it.?You can share your location and also let others see yours.
Congratulations and you smell good house twin
Thanks house twin!

Glad to read of all your good news! ?
Thanks Coumarin!?
So happy for all your good news!
Thanks apsara!?
Great news about the job and no covid!
Thanks ringthing! Yeah, I really wasn’t too worried about Covid because we are all masked, all the time at work but I wouldn’t have wanted to inadvertently bring it home to my family.
After a day full of worry yesterday, I’m glad you have a day full of joy and relief today.
Especially glad to hear the job news! I thought you might get it, based on the loooong interview you mentioned recently. Brava! ??
Thanks Nancyleandros! Yes, that was the longest interview of my life!?
Oh!Oh!Oh! Congratulations on the job offer!
Thank you!?
Congratulations on the job!

Whew on the eventfulness front, and congratulations!

Thank you for sharing the good news. Please, everyone share your good news!!!! Lovely to hear it. I am so pleased for you!! Yay!! Whoopee!! What a great feeling and accomplishment.
Thanks so much Oakland Fresca! It really was a great feeling. I’ve interviewed for this position 3 times over the last 4 years. I had such relief wash over me when I got the call that I could have just broken down in tears of relief.
I agree! Everyone needs to share their good news!
Congratulations on the job offer! And on all the other good news — so happy to hear everything is turning out well!
Thanks!?
A much better day than yesterday! Fingers crossed for the job!

Belated congratulations! That’s wonderful news!
Very funny Robin, and if I had Le Lion with me I would surely put it on for you!
Happy Birthday to B.B. King, may he Rest In Peace and perfect rhythm with the all big name guitar players already up there.
Commando.
La la la la…can’t hear you!
In Chanel Bois des Iles.
I am having a difficult time keeping my eyes open. Not even coffee is helping. I finally felt asleep around 5am and up by 7am to attend a meeting. I also have lots of work to be finished today. My anxiety is growing deeply as time to be finally back in the office next month is approaching. The whole thing is affecting me, but that’s a reality that I have to face and accept hoping that I will stay safe and healthy. God will provide!
Nice and warm outside today. I may take a walk outside at lunch time and enjoy the day a bit.
Happy Wednesday, everyone! ?
Oh I was hoping you would be able to stay wfh for the winter. I understand the anxiety, I’m sorry.
We are having a nice day here too. Enjoy the day ?
Thank you, Lillyjo! I think that management took too long to bring us back. Physical changes in the office to meet safety protocols were delayed for few weeks, but everything is done now. Besides, there have been people working already there for a while because they could not stand working from home anymore. Anyway, time then to go back to normal! I will enjoy the few weeks left at home! ?
Smelling great, twin!
I’m sorry about your anxiety, I had a night like that. Then when I’m short on sleep, my emotions are so fragile that I cry very easily.
I can understand your worry about returning to work. I hope all the safety measures they’ve put in place and continuing to mask help you feel a little better about everything.
Thank you Madtowngirl! I hope everything goes fine! Three more hours to go and I think I will take a nap! ?
*air hug* You smell great!
God indeed will provide! Do your stretching, restrict your coffee and drink water, and turn ALL electronics an hour before bed.
Thank you, Ede! I think I need to reduce my coffee intake. I have been drinking coffee more than usual lately!
I had the same anxiety going back to the office. We had been wfh since March. I went back in late July, but we have been at a “week in the office, week home” rotation. They moved people around ensuring the 6 foot rule and installed partitions. Other safety measures as well plus there’s 3x daily cleaning in shared areas.
For me, it was ok going back once I was there. Sending you fragrant hugs!
I think once I am there I will start feeling better. Partitions are already installed and everything else is ready for us to be back. We will know about our new schedule the last week of September, but it seems that it will be one week home and one week in the office. I hope the commute is also safe.
Sending you a big hug. Hopefully adapting to the change will be less scary than it seems now.
Thank you, Kanuka! I hope so too!
I’m sorry for you having anxiety and not sleeping, but I’m sure you will be fine. As a person “volunteered” (by the management
) to be responsible for the preparations for coming back, I can tell that everyone is doing everything possible to minimize risks. The rest will be mostly up to you to keep yourself safe – and I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out the least stressful routine.
Since everyone will be wearing masks, we all can wear our favorite perfumes! “If you can smell me, you’re staying too close”-kind of message
Thanks Undina! Hoping for the best. And I will keep spraying lavishly on all my perfumes, as if I were home. That will be a very fun and helpful therapy!
Oh no
totally understand your anxiety. Right now, it doesn’t seem like there’s any question of me having to go back onsite until at least January, but there was a lot of talk of us going back in April and May, which resulted in a ton of anxiety for me, too. I hope everything goes fine.
Thanks Koyel! I always hoped for a return in January, but that was too much to ask. Hope everything, especially the commute goes well!
Big hugs to you. Our school district has set a target of Oct. 26 for students to return to school, and it’s making me anxious as well. I hope you enjoy your last few weeks of working from home.
My respect to all you teachers. You have to deal with so many issues going back to work, taking care of students and yourself also. I hope everything goes fine with you!
Hopefully the anxiety will ease once you get back and find a routine. Big hugs!
Thank you, Cazaubon! Hugs back!
Even though my furlough was part-time and brief, the transition back and forth was hard – you are not alone. Even the most free-spirited, if they have full-time jobs, are likely to be “thrown off” by these strange times, IMHO.
I agree! These difficult times we are living is affecting everyone in one way or the other. We just have to be patient and hope for better times.
Hugs to you! Not knowing what will happen is sometimes worse that actually going thru something.
It is true! I need to get used to the “new normal” and hope we will be all fine at home.
If I can be teleported to the office then back home, I would have no issues; however, we know teleportation is still not reality. I will keep delaying my return. We’re seeing employee cases go up …
Delay your return the most you can. There is no need to risk yourself, especially with the commute.
Wishing you a peaceful, restorative night’s sleep.
Thank you, Annie! I feel I will sleep better tonight.
Hello all!
I’m in the reissued Colony from Jean Patou for the second day in a row. It starts light-heartedly with a fruity (not sweet) top note but ages into a brilliant vetiver leather base. It has a bit of that “new version of a classic feeling” which I used to associate with lack of oakmoss, but now could very easily be that it’s fresh and didn’t age for 20+ years. That may be a topic to elaborate on another time though. I had high expectations but it has met them.
Oh wow. I have been very curious about that scent; now that the fragrance house is discontinued I might buy a small bottle.
It’s great and too shortly with us. Sadly they only made 100 ml bottles but they can be found for about 1/4 of what they retailed for.
OH! Okay, okay- but I will keep that in mind (100 mL is a lot!)
It is. I got one for purely archival reasons.
?
Today’s soft spot is a spritz or two of White Shoulders. this was my mother’s scent when I was little (she wears Delrae Debut and Penhaligon’s Ostara, now).
Your mum had great taste. I love Both Début and Ostara are fragrances I’m very fond of, do Is wonder whether I would enjoy White Shoulders.
Has not had
Dentist today! I usually go every three months, it’s now been nine.
Cool and smoky ashy here, but Pasadena will be very hot and smoky so something light or commando.
I’ve not seen the sun through the smoke in over 10 days.
Same – I have rescheduled my dental appointments twice over the past 6 months.
I’ve basically banished the idea of going to the dentist for at least the next year, and am just flossing very, very carefully!
Same here!
Yep, same >.<
Same here!
good luck at the dentist! My whole family already went post-covid – I think it’s pretty safe (at least for clients), as they are triple masked (N-95, regular mask, shield, glasses, gowns, etc.). Hope your air improves – we are actually in “good” today!
Sympathize so much about your not seeing the sun.
I hope you get to see the sun soon.
Hope that your dentist appointment went well today.
I’m in Dzongkha, from my large full bottle. I have found that I more consistently buy full bottles of L’Artisan, than any other house. Maybe because they are quite inexpensive at the discounters. I still love them. I just bought a bottle of Safran Troublant. My next buy has got to be Timbuktu.
I hear you! I have come to love this house.
Such a beautiful scent. I love Dzongkha. L’Artisan is #3 in my “houses that I’ve purchased full bottles from” list (after ELDO and Hermes).
I’m in Climat, from a tiny mini, courtesy of a swap or freebie meet, not sure which. My mind said “green” at first dab. I think it’s rosemary. Musky base notes and maybe civet? This must have been beautiful in it’s time.
It was!!!
Climat is my lifelong love, I own most of the later re-issue versions, I like and wear them all, but decades ago it was so much more beautiful.
You smell great!
Thanks, Undina! It’s always interesting to experience vintage fragrances and imagine what they might have been like in their heyday. ?
Yep. I have a small dabber of vintage Patou 1000, and I’m wondering what it was like new. It smells great now! Also wondering what the current stuff is like, now that it’s been d/c’ed and is at the discounters for crazy low prices.
Good morning Y’all,
Hurricane Sally is far from me but still managing to dump plenty of rain over us, so I’m trying to stay warm and cozy in Guerlain Eau de Cashmere. I LOVE this one; it’s gotta be in my top 5 at the moment. (Top 5 subject to change any time…)
This Covid thing is getting really old. Just went we thought it was tamped down pretty well at work, we’re having another little outbreak of it. Sigh….This too shall pass….maybe in 2025? That what it feels like anyway!
I’ve been watching that storm with mounting concern. It needs to moooove! No one needs another Harvey, ever.
Stay dry and safe, Jada!
It’s a big storm for sure! I agree that it need to move along quick like! I’m in Atlanta so no worries here, just lots of rain coming…
Ohhhh, Sally, move! We have lots of friends and family on the Gulf Coast, my husband lived in Lake Charles for years, and Hurricane Laura displaced many of them including a friend who described LC as looking like it’s been in a blender. Same friend, with his wife and mother in law, headed to Fort Walton FL to escape Laura, taking their annual beach vacation early. Now Hurricane Sally is dumping floods of rain where they are and of course no power. I can only imagine how awful that must be.
This year ain’t *****!
Stay dry and safe as you can!
Sally twins – the rain just started here in South Carolina. I really wish I hadn’t packed my rubber boots in a moving box. Oh well.
I hope everyone closer to the storm stays safe and dry.
I’m going to go commando this morning, in preparation for the Fragrancenet order that is supposed to be delivered today. I will need lots of bare skin a little later!
Look forward to hearing about your new stuff!
I LOVE when it’s a fragrance delivery day! Yes, please share what you’re wearing later….
Ooh, report back on what you got!
SHARE EVERYTHING YOU GOT!
Back in the bottle return line. I decided to join the Chanel crowd today in a spritz of vintage No.5 Cologne. My decant has ventured into use it or lose it territory. I must smell great since there is a bee here that won’t leave me alone, lol.
You smell great for sure! ????
I have some of that and love it – find the dry down pretty similar to other 5 versions, though – you smell good!
You smell gorgeous- the bee has excellent taste!
I had that bee problem with vintage Silences a while back.
The bee may have been programmed by Guerlain to punish you for wearing Chanel. It happens!
LOL!
What bottle did you return?
Oh just my pop bottle deposit return! I wish I had something more fun that I was returning. I stood in line for a half hour for 4 dollars!
I’m in Caligna today because it’s oh-so-seasonal — warm fig leaves and tinder-dry chaparral. Actually able to step outside a bit as of last night and I’m having trouble turning away from the neglected garden to focus on being a diligent employee.
You smell so good.
Oooh, Caligna. I lurve that scent.
I need to sort out my perfume cabinet so I can find things. Sotd is Lubin Idole again just because it smells wonderful and I can’t find Yesterday Haze which is perfect for chilly nights and mild days. It’s in there somewhere.
You smell great!
“Yesterday Haze” seems like the most apt perfume name of the summer…
You smell so good! I am having the same problem with my perfume cabinet, which is as good a sign as any to stop acquiring anything new and to shop my cabinet. So difficult, as there are still so many scents I want.
Haven’t visited here in a while, but did read the weekend poll on Monday. We are pretty much back to normal, except for obligatory mask wearing in public spaces. People are pretty good with adhering. My children are back to school IN PERSON. YEAH! A teacher friend posted this: “Your not strong enough to withstand this storm,” the devil whispered to the teacher. The teacher whispered back: “You’re…”
Hats off to all the teachers. In fact, the private school that my youngest attends sent out a letter last week to say that, due to the fact that 98% of children are back in person (parents were given the option of online schooling or in-person), they will no longer be offering online except for children who can provide a medical certificate that they are especially at risk. Hopefully this will lighten some of the teachers’ burden.
We have started to enjoy weekend excursions. We twice went hiking with friends, with either a barbeque or picnic lunch afterwards. I also had a four day weekend visiting with my brother and his family when they rented a beautiful beach cottage. And last weekend I visited with my mom for the whole weekend, staying over and we invited my aunt for a barbeque. They both said they really needed to just VISIT and laugh and reminisce about their childhood.
Covid is a serious disease and I know it and pray that my family will stay safe. But as a family, we have started making the personal choices that we feel comfortable with.
SOTD: JLo Deseo – just a favourite.
I love what your friend posted!
Yay to kids back in school! Mine went back last week, and is very happy to be there, masked up or not. (We’ll see how long it lasts…)
And any your / you’re joke is greatly appreciated!
Glad to hear the good news from your neck of the woods, Amyitis.
Here’s hoping we can all move towards something more akin to normal soon.
LOL (the teacher joke)
Grammar jokes are the best.
Greetings after a few weeks (months?) away. Life here is hectic. Happy to hear that you all are mostly doing well!
Popping in to tell everyone that if you LOVE BAR SOAP, and you haven’t tried it, you should buy Harry’s Shiso bar (avail at Target etc). I normally splurge on bar soaps and picked this up by chance. It’s really, really great bar soap and smells (lightly) lovely. It’s sort of a mix of lemongrass, vetiver and a touch of mint.
Thanks for the bar soap info. I need to look for it!
+1. The lemongrass is my jam too.
Oh, I do love bar soap. Thank you!
*waves* Hello!
And that bar soap sounds fab! Alas, I am working through what I have…
Their Stone soap is also lovely. My husband asked me to stop buying fancy soaps and to only buy him Harry’s from now on.
Trying Lavender Extreme today from a kind NSTer.
Love Diana Rigg. She is amazing in everything but Mother Love, which was an old BBC production, just blew my mind. For some reason it never came out on DVD and don’t think it is streamable either…maybe someday. Growing up, my parents let us watch anything on PBS
so there was plenty of Fawlty Towers, Benny Hill and Diana Rigg opening up Mystery each week…stole every scene she was in.♥️
How is Lavender Extreme?
It’s very nice…I get a lemony, sweet lavender w/ some spice..lower sillage. I find the price of $350 for 50 ml cray cray (as they say in the parlance of our times) though I imagine larger sizes and discounters would make it cheaper.
If you are in the market for lavender, I would recommend checking out two from Solstice Scents…Estate Lavender which is a spicy lavender w/ violet and Lavender and Vanilla which is gourmand lavender w/ lots of vanilla.
I wouldn’t pay full price for this perfume, but I like it enough for a decant, and might consider a deeply discounted bottle in future.
Agreed. The drydown is particularly lovely with persistent powdery lavender.
It is a mystery to me why there isn’t tons of fantastic old stuff on BBC America.
Diana Rigg was perfect in “The Avengers”.
Back in my “rebottled” Shalimar edc vintage. This stuff is glorious. Air quality in the green this morning for the first time in a good long while!
What did rebottled end up meaning?
I think it’s kind of like what we have now with decanting sites – basically, some enterprising person bought a vat of Shalimar and then refilled it into smaller sizes. I read on Basenotes that this was not regulated back in the day (1940s, but I don’t think my bottle is that old) and quite common. The good thing in this case is that it came with the box so good protection from UV damage.
In Paris-Venise—Jury is still out for me on this one.
That’s the only one I liked from the eaux I tried. So I think you smell great!
This one is my favorite (though, I liked two more), so I think that you smell wonderful.
Unlike the other two, this is my least favorite of this series
I found it pleasant enough but not really worthwhile.
Hope your air is better today! Ours is!
A week of light blocked by smoke has made the trees here start shedding their leaves heavily. The big maple in the front yard has covered the grass, which usually happens in November. I am wearing Kyoto today.
Same in my neighborhood- some of the trees are yellowed/red a few weeks early and have shed leaves.
Yeah, I was noticing that yesterday, too. Our chestnut is more yellow than green all of a sudden!
That’s really devastating. I hope they bounce back in spring.
Believe it or not, we actually have your smoke in Montréal! (of course not bad, but noticeable)
Yesterday was my birthday and didn’t have time to post but wore Coromandel. Couldn’t get reservations to the Hofbrauhaus yesterday but going today. No gifts of perfume and still saving up for Coromandel. Debating on either LADDM or Lonestar Memories today.
Happy belated Birthday Dawn!
Happy Belated Birthday, Dawn!?
Happy Birthday Dawn – what a great birthday treat. (psst: I just bought a small 4ml mini of Coromandel.)
Happy Belated Birthday! Coromandel is a perfect birthday scent!
Happy late birthday!
Happy belated Birthday Dawn!
Many happy returns.
Have a great day Dawn
Happy birthday for yesterday!
Happy Belated Birthday!?
Happy birthday! ?
Happy belated birthday !
I hope you have a wonderful, healthy year! Happy belated birthday.
Happy birthday!
Happy Belated Birthday! ???
Belated happy birthday, Dawn!
Happy late, belated birthday, Dawn!!
Happy belated birthday!
Prada Infusion de Rose
I’m in Halston today, which is a soft spot of a sort, I guess. I have a teeny tiny, supposedly vintage sample bottle that I was able to find with some difficulty a few years back. It’s what my mom used to wear (she died when I was young).
This is only my second time trying it; the first time, I put it on before bed and while I thought it was in general quite nice, I wasn’t getting any mom vibes from it. So, probably reformulated even before this sample was made, I figured. But I thought I’d try it again today, and now, yes, it is taking me back. It must be vintage-ish, at any rate, because I’ve heard the current reformulation is awful and this is not.
The new Halston is still recognizable, but it smells of chemicals. Same as my beloved Giorgio Red, which I’ve been missing latley.
You don’t want to know what Giorgio (actually, Giorgio knockoff) I wore in the ’80s.
Primo, anyone?
Ha! I know it well!
St. Claire’s Scent’s Pharoah’s Passion today as the SOTD.
I am CP complaint.
This is VERY similar in the BEST way to Bogue Promfumo’s MEM which I adore. NO lavender but look, here are the notes for Pharaoh:
Notes: Coriander, cardamom, bergamot
Middle Notes: Turkish rose absolute, jasmine sambac, ylang ylang, geranium absolute
Base Notes: Benzoin, Labdanum resin, frankincense, vetiver, cedarwood, musks.
Cleopatra or not this is great juice. Powerful.
Num! Sounds wonderful!
You may like it, it’s well behaved and quieter in the dry down.
Hmm. I’m neither consistently well-behaved nor quiet. . .
Love this.
Hello all,
I’m wearing Tempo (Diptyque) today. I like it well enough but do not wear it often; I’ve gone through almost half the bottle in the first couple of years after acquiring it and then ignored it for a while.
As Jada was mentioning, we’re waiting for some serious rain.
Stay safe everyone!
Stay safe yourself! And dry if you can.
Stay safe and dry!
Oh, stay safe, adanst!
Wednesday!
How is it we are almost halfway through the month? How is it that we are almost at the autumnal equinox?!
Air quality index is unhealthy, rather than hazardous, which seems good. We should be back to okay-ish by Friday.
Am in Brazilian lime, Fig and Black Tea fragrance by Beauty Pie- light, airy, crisp and pretty. Unisex.
Recently ended the BeautyPie membership. Verdict on the business: Many of the products are good to excellent, some of the products are meh. The fragrances are in the close to skin style that is popular with a certain set, and are great for those who like airy, light scents. If you worked in close proximity at an office these scents would be perfect.
Oooh, I am curious why you chose to end your Beauty Pie membership? I’ve switched to buying all of my skincare there and my skin is so grateful.
The skincare is GRAND! I love the JapanFusion lines and Super Retinol lines! I really feel that the JF line is very comparable to Elemis!
I really want to support more local/BIPOC brands near me, that’s all! I will probably re-up in the winter!
Gotcha! I have changed all my haircare and CBD purchases to BIPOC brands. I think we may be on the same wavelength – bail funds are also my recent splurge. Just wanted to know your Beauty Pie thoughts.
SOTD = Chris Rusak Beast Mode
Not with the CP. Chris posted a poll on IG regarding whether or not Beast Mode is gourmand. My final answer – No ?. I do like it a lot!

Back to work. I’ll be by again later to read comments.
And….it’s my FriYAY today. I am off starting tomorrow through Monday. Staycation but we need that, don’t we all ?
And I meant to share this article in Zoom lighting, from an interview with Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, former First Lady of France. There’s some ummm not really eye-opening first world problems ?.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/15/style/how-carla-bruni-sarkozy-has-perfected-zoom-lighting.html
It’s a puff piece overall with a lot of product name dropping but it’s in the Styles section so it seems appropriate. Also, she mentioned being gifted Dior Ambre Nuit 6 or 7 years ago and how she loves using it. I wonder how extensive her perfume wardrobe is or is it part of quota to mention Dior ??♀️?
I have a vague memory that she made a perfume?
There was a perfume names after her. Notes sound good bit only one review on Fragrantica ??♀️
Wow, she’s 52! I hate her!?
LOL ?
Happy staycation!
That little figurine made me laugh ?
Thank you. I should consolidate all the little figurines that I can haul out to match a perfume!
Happy FriYAY to you! And that was quite the walk you had yesterday, wow!
Thank you, jalapeno. I started counting in km as I wanted to do at least a 5k every time I walk!
Just getting used to regular life again after my return from Provence Monday night. It’s very nice to get back to NST, I was reading the comments yesterday.
Today I am wearing Must de Cartier which I always call in my head the green Shalimar, I truly adore it but forget to use as I don’t see it mentioned.
Welcome back Aurora!
Thank you Lillyjo, hope you are well and your son and daughter too, and having good weather (here in the UK it’s still summer).
Oh, but it must have been hard to come home!
Ah,yes somewhat tough, I keep thinking I must be mad not to move there ?
That’s always when you know it is a good vacation!
Glad to hear that you are back safe and sound Aurora!
Thank you Jalapeno, everything went surprisingly well in spite of the covid situation.
SOTD is OJ Woman. On a separate note (hah!), I am ignoring the nattering about both Boy and Lion, and will be confessing to Donatella about a very recent impulse buy of Chanel Eau de Cologne – my little decant is nearly thunked and must not go unreplaced.
Yaaaay! ?? Congrats on your new bottle!
LOL.
Chanel EdC is FullBottleWorthy in the best sense of the word!
Color me thrilled for you (and a little jealous).
Enjoy!
Wearing Gucci Bloom Profumo di fiori.
What do you think of it? I like that yellow bottle.
I like it. It is all luscious white flowers. I don’t remember what the original smells like. I know what you mean about the bottle, that’s why I couldn’t wait to try it. I’m tempted by the 7ml size.
Wearing Reminiscence Musc and finishing off the sample I’ve had for many years. This falls under the CP for clean musk as a perfume style that I used to be more taken with than I am now. See also that Egyptian Goddess 10ml roll on I’ve had since 2010ish that is still almost completely full. The Rem Musc is still hitting the spot today, though I’ll probably apply a heftier musk on top of it mid day.
Here’s some good news to counter the not good stuff I talked about yesterday. I meant to post this in the lazy weekend poll when Robin asked us to say something wonderful. I was nominated for an employee of the year award at work! That definitely made my day on Friday, especially because I got to read the lovely nominations that a couple people submitted for me. No matter if I win or not, it’s very rewarding to be nominated. Even before COVID-19, it’s been a challenging year at work.
That is wonderful news. Fantastic.
That’s great news! Congrats on the nomination!
How lovely to be nominated!
Congratulations, that’s lovely! I hope you win, but either way, how nice
Congratulations! It’s nice to be recognized for all your hard work. I hope you win!
Congratulations! I’m glad the people who appreciate you let you know it.
So nice, good for you!
Aww, how nice to be nominated, hope you win! But the comments are no doubt gratifying in themselves.
Congratulations! That’s excellent news for sure!
Super Congratulations!
Great news. As you said, just being nominated is itself an accomplishment. I hope you win!
Thanks, everyone! I love this supportive community.
Congratulations! It is nice to get recognition!
That is fabulous! Congratulations, you should be proud.
My soft spot is Lancome Aroma Tonic from a bottle I bought twenty years ago when I lived in Bavaria. This a fresh green, tea scent with cardamon and reminds me of when I was pregnant and biking everywhere, through vineyards and along the Main.. Haven’t worn it for years and it is far better suited to summer days.
Also, Shere Hite RIP
I almost included her in the list today but decided it was already too long. She was part of the feminist landscape when I was growing up…had really lost complete touch with what she was doing since.
Oh, I remember what a big deal The Hite Report was back in the day. RIP.
You are smelling fantastic! I had a well-used bottle but gave it away to a friend about 5 years ago; wish I kept it.
I had the orange tonic. Loved it, wish I had saved some.
Oh, the Main! Did you live in Würzburg? Such a lovely city. Sounds like a lovely perfume, though I’ve never smelled it.
30*C today, then 19*C tomorrow.
Making the best perfumed use of the last (probably) hot day this summer by wearing Chanel Paris-Deauville.
Therefore house twins with Robin
We are cousins
SOTD OJTa’if, which is far too lovely to merely count as a “soft spot.”
As Ede mentioned, technically we are experiencing better air quality today than yesterday, but the light is absolutely yellow and dismal right now–like right before a thunder storm. I think I’m getting so I can measure the particulates in the air by eye!
Boo hiss to particulates. Rain rain, come for a visit.
Wearing ELDO Noel au Balcon for christmassy comfort.
Teaching is rough right now. My students are doing ok, but the district is handing down changes and new mandates every day. It’s demoralizing, but I keep reminding myself that it’s temporary. It’s just going to be a looooong year.
I am right there with you. This is the craziest year to teach.
In my summer “office” scent, Douceur de Siam. Wishing everyone well,
I love this scent!
In le Lion again (sorry, Robin!), but today I’m feeling GREAT because our AQI is < 50 and I went for a wonderful little walk this morning in a low, insistent rain! Normally I hate rain but this time, I welcomed it, and my lugs were just so excited about CLEAN AIR! Let's hope this sticks around
I know there is still a lot of smoke and fire up north
so I hope this rain migrates northward and gets a bit heavier up there.
Hooray! I’m glad you were able to breathe some outside air.
You finally had some rain! w00t w00t! ☔?
Wearing Yves Rocher Venise – a long time discontinued perfume I had for the last 20 years (not the first bottle). Nice vanilla oriental perfume, I enjoy it every time I decide to wear it, but with all perfumes in my collection, I rarely give it skin time. Still, it was one of the first perfumes that I used back in years when I just started shifting away from a “signature scent” concept.
Glad it aged well!
I mentioned my soft spot for Madame Rochas yesterday, but didn’t say why. It’s not in the least exciting, but I found it quite early in my perfume days in a pop up shop selling largely celebrity scents – it was a serendipitous moment
I’m wearing JHAG’s Mad Madame today, inspired purely by the Madame in the name!
I woke up so far on the wrong side of the bed it was a miracle I didn’t fall right off!
Just went for a mental reset with a tiny bit of Zoologist Bee, it’s got such a giddy, happy, can-do feel to it. Bees work hard and don’t complain, surely I can too ?
Do report back if Bee does the trick. I might need to invest in some, if so! I’m so grouchy so often these days. . .
Bee is really fantastic and can definitely uplift my mood. You should definitely get a decant or travel spray! Sadly, my fiance can’t stand it, so I can only wear it when I know he’s about to go for a long workout or something.
I woke up today (from the dream in which someone had fallen down from a considerable height) on my side, but really close to the edge and also thought that I could have fallen. If to think about it, in my dream it was my manager… Nah, I shouldn’t probably be thinking about what it might mean
Cabotine today. We prepared a bit of our garden, boug ht lots of compost for the garden beds and later i finally cleaned my car for our upcoming trip to france.
Cabotine was my signature scent years ago. You smell lovely!
I am also in Le Lion, oops. This one will wear better when it cools off some. Still very warm here lol.
Shh. Don’t mention Le Lion. It’s a sore subject for some. ?
?
SOTD = St. Clair Casablanca – the last dregs of my sample spray, but it is still incensy OB on the back of my hands. I love this because i spent half a year wandering around Morrocco with the buddies of some Peace Corps Volunteers who were working in the desert, and it reminds me of the Grand Souk of Fez, the mom and pop rug factories of the Atlas Mountains, the camel market of Guelmim and the beaches of Agadir…When adorable hubby and I retire, we had hoped to travel again. Hopefully this will be come possible in the near future….
That must have been an amazing experience. I do hope you get to return
It was fun the way anything is fun when you are 19, and the world is new…
It was a different time. I left the US with $1500 that my grandma had given me, and I got home a year and a half later with several hundred $ worth of Travelers Cheques, that I had a hard time cashing in the US.
I worked on a Naval base in Spain for a few months, but still, no worries. And now look at the way the world is…
Oh boy I reached for that bottle too and then veered to another. I am copying you on Thursday!
You smell grand!
Wearing a bit of Slow Dive from a sample. Trying to convince myself that I don’t need a bottle of this.
Oh, I love that one! And not like anything else I own. (I know, I’m no help at all! I guess I could offer up the fact that I find it irritating to my skin–not a big enough issue for me to avoid wearing it, but I get some redness wherever I spray. So, you know, you could hope for that, I guess!)
You don’t need a bottle of it: it’s too … intense (?) to wear it often, so with it being an all-natural perfume I’d worry about how it would age. Buy either a couple more samples or a small decant – and it’ll be probably enough for the “fix” whenever you need it.
I felt the need for two bottles.
LOL
Song of the day: https://youtu.be/HmRDM7GyJXE
I think quite a few NSTers will appreciate this one.
I’m wiped out today. No energy at all. No reason I can think of why, either.
SOTD = back in Fat Electrician today. The sample is still hanging on…
Thank you! Love, love, love them!
Watched this doc earlier in the year…
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYTpMZjZxwI
You’re welcome! Glad that you liked the link. ?
One of my all-time favorite songs! Hope you feel better tomorrow!
Thanks lillyjo. I hate feeling like a deflated helium balloon that has gone “Pfffft”.
Tomorrow’s another day. I got done a little later than I wanted to and opted out of the walk today.
I’m hoping to get up enough “oomph” to take care of at least 1 errand tomorrow. None of them are particularly urgent, thankfully.
Hope you have a good night sleep and feel better tomorrow!
I’m wearing L’eau d’Hiver from a sample I found while cleaning a kitchen drawer. I have a soft spot for it because I love the name, but there’s a reason I’ve never moved past a sample to a travel spray or bottle. Something just doesn’t quite sit right.
Wonderful news? Today, after a month of teaching I finally got some real evidence that I have in fact been able to build relationships with my virtual students. That felt really good.
Yay for connecting to kids! My first week of school has been delayed due to the fires. I’m so anxious about making it work for all of us! We begin Monday, hopefully!
Teachers who do that are something special. It makes a difference!
I have a few that come to mind for the project but will save one for Friday. For today, in Chergui for no good reason other than it smells great.
And you smell great as well ?
You are smelling fantastic Kelly!
It’s after 7 p.m. here and I’ve just realized that I am STILL commando. Skipped fragrance this morning because I had an in-person meeting, and then the day has been so non-stop that I forgot to swing by my collection and spray something. I guess I’ll think about the CP and see if I can jump in tomorrow/Friday. (I know it’s never too late for fragrance, but I may be too tired to walk upstairs right now!)
Late to the game today. Busy day.
Got an email from Sylvaine Delacourte describing lavender and indicating Dovana has lavender and musk. I knew I had a small decant, so sprayed it on, thinking lavender sounds real good right now.
I’m huffing the inside of my elbow and still getting some nice scent. Vanilla but mostly lavender, I think. What’s interesting is Fragrantica doesn’t list it as a note. But it’s very nice dry down. Baby powder also. Maybe it’s a good bedtime scent.
This morning’s scent: Guerlain Eau de Cologne du Coq. I was kind of congested from allergies, but picked up a nice citrus scent.
The second C.O. Bigelow package I’ve ordered in the past few weeks — Robin’s enabler pin continues to shine — came today. Samples included licorice-flavored toothpaste(!), rose-scented face tonic, aftershave balm, and a fine fragrance sample of Carthusia’s jasmine perfume. I don’t have the brainpower to be sure about how to spell jasmine in Italian at the moment. Gelsomino?
I was excited when I saw that one could get bottles of Carthusia, Berdoues, and other brands of perfume from C.O. Bigelow. I refrained, though. I got more of the C.O. Bigelow lemon liquid soap, some verbena liquid soap, and a citrus glycerine bar soap. Bergamot, I think? All smell very pleasant to me, and not terribly strong.
Yummmmm to Gelsomino. Have fun with your goodies. I discovered Ashore by Amouage and may try a decant. I adore Jasmine.
