It's Tuesday and the International Day of Democracy. Also, Agatha Christie's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Calvin Klein's CK One. The soft spot, to repeat my review: "I probably owe it to ck one that I eventually figured out that I could just go ahead and wear Eau Sauvage. So thanks, ck one."
Reminder: on 9/18 the topic is Soft spot...wear a perfume that you may or may not wear often, and may or may not really love, but that remains dear to you for some other reason. Suggested by Kanuka.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try (but frequently fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Geraldine McEwan as Miss Marple, having tea in the garden.
It’s some sort of fall in Stockholm today and I’m working from home on my pjs and about 8 sprays of Armani Si Intense (or what’s it’s called, Intense? In the black bottle).
The best part about working from home – unlimited sprays of perfume! Of course, spending all day in jammies is also kinda nice……
Yes! I’m wearing a lot of big scents these days.
Feels just like fall here too!
8 sprays is serious.
Yep. That’s how I roll when I don’t have to behave in the office
Fragrant high five for 8 sprays!
I love it!
I’m game for unlimited sprays, our campus has a scent-free policy (that I break, all. the. time.), so I’m rather enjoying this period of unlimited scent extravaganza working from home.
Shalimar today….
If you follow me on IG you know from which bottle ? ? the limited edition one
Always nice.
Still unpacking? All done?
still unpacking. it would go a lot faster if I didn’t have this back thing…
Hope you back feels better soon.
Aw, sorry.
Shalimar always… i’m sorry your back is still not 100%.
Hugs for the unpacking process and back issues. I’m leaning in for a sniff…
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/sep/12/ann-goldstein-i-try-to-make-it-really-clear-that-i-am-not-elena-ferrante
An interesting interview with Elena Ferrante’s translator, Ann Goldstein that you might like. It describes their working process. She also mentions the writer Vivian Gornick . Gornick wrote The Odd Woman and the City, a kind of memoir/essay that is set in New York. It is a great book but even better, I suspect, if you know NY well as it is so attached to the streets and places, like an amble through the city.
Thank you Kanuka..
I read also the NYT article on Ann Goldstein, and how she started out wanting to learn Italian to read Dante, now she is translating, it gave me hope about my Italian lessons!
I will take a look at this article. Thank you for thinking of me
I’m in Over the Musk.
Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes for my daughter. It was a lovely day and the cake was delicious if I do say so myself.
Sitting in meetings today and finding it hard to concentrate. I was awake for hours last night with worry. My mom is having knee replacement surgery today and my son is driving a thousand miles across the country for his move out west.?
Waiting for the end of the day when I hear from both of them that all is well. Then I will breath a huge sigh of relief!
Where is your son moving to?
Good luck to both him and you mom!
Thanks lillyjo!
Utah!?It hasn’t really sunk in yet that he will be so far away. He’s never been more than a couple of hours away, so knowing I can’t just hop in the car and go see him is gonna break my heart.
Wow, those are big worries, and at the same time!?! I wouldn’t be able to sleep, either. Big hugs to you as you get through your day! ?
Thanks Nancyleandros, they are big worries.? Hugs appreciated!
Fingers crossed for everybody!
Thanks Robin!!
Best wishes all around!
Thanks hajusuuri!!
I hope you’ll get to hear from both of them sooner rather than later!
Thanks!
I’m worried on your family’s behalf too.? When I was younger, I used to wonder why my Mom worried…I wonder less now…
Yep, me too. No matter how big they get I still worry.
I’m worrying about some family issues also. Hugs, friend.
Oh no, I’m sorry KellyC. Hugs back friend!
Best wishes that they both will be OK.
Thanks!
I hope you hear from both of them soon, with happy outcomes.
Thank you!
Hugs and prayers: I am heading to Utah this week for a wedding, where most of my (small) close family live! It is a beautiful and very friendly state. Also, I hope your mother will see all the benefits so many do from her knee surgery!
Thanks!
I’ve never been, but the pictures make it look very beautiful. Now I have a reason to visit.?
Hoping for the best outcome for your Mom and safe journey for your son.
Thank you!
Aw, good luck to both your mom and your son! Where in Utah is he headed?
Salt Lake City. Luckily I can get a direct flight right from my airport, I’m already planning my visit!?
I hope it all went well!
Thanks!
Hope both went well!
Thanks cazaubon!
My soft spot for today is Aramis 900 worn by my first in person human crush (after television character crushes The Lone Ranger, James West, and Batman). This bottle is ancient and the citrus up top is unpleasant for about ten or fifteen minutes, but the carnation, moss and patchouli are still lovely. It is a little too unbuttoned shi[Ed note:R]t and medallion for my taste to wear on the regular, but I love having some to sniff every now and then.
Too “unbuttoned shirt and gold medalian!” ? Love it!
I can see the big hair and tight jeans now!
Ha, same.
Robin, you might want to fix the typo in “shiRt” in monkey toe’s post.
I actually like the typo ?
So funny. I didn’t even notice the typo!
I hope I left some of the funny.
James West … be still my heart.
Too “unbuttoned shirt and gold medallion!” ? Love it!
I’m wearing the big hair and tight jeans now! Well, that’s my usual m.o. anyhoo….
Love it!
I love Aramis and all its flankers. I think the Lauders for guys are chronically underrated. You smell great and what great associations.
Beautiful image of Geraldine McEwan!
Very windy and chilly morning. We are in the 50’s right now, which means I am already freezing! ?
Wearing SL Ambre Sultan and drinking my second cup of coffee to warm up!
Happy Tuesday!
She is my favorite Miss Marple!
Mine too!
Brrrr! Stay warm and cozy today!
Thank you! It is already 60 degrees, but I wish it were not so windy!
I had the car heater on the other morning. Stay warm!
I was thinking about turning my space heater on earlier this morning, but I changed my mind. I was not supposed to complain about summer at all!!!
You smell great!
Thank you, Apsara!
I am wearing socks for the first time probably since April. Not pleased about it, either.
Whoa. I wear socks all through summer. They’re like little hugs for my feet!
Oh how funny. One of the joys of summer to be is dispensing with the socks.
Same here! Wearing socks, a turtle neck sweater and a cardigan for the first time! Not liking this change of temperature at all!
I am pretty sure that a) I have never lived through such a hot summer, and b) I have never considered putting away my summer clothing this early in the year.
I want my normal seasons back.
I agree! This summer was horrendous and it didn’t last at all. It looks like winter is also going to be also very, very tough!
I don’t know what you mean about winter and I don’t want to know!
Same here – intensely hot summer that has dropped off a cliff a month earlier than usual. They are predicting a harsh winter here too.
Oh you smell fabulous!
Thank you, Ede97005! Ambre Sultan is my favorite amber scent! So warm and cozy!
Can you please send some of those temps my way?! You smell great!
Sending all of them your way and please keep them forever! ?
Might be time for me to turn off the A/C here. It was chilly in the house this morning!
The next 2 days here will be in the upper 70’s, then the temps will drop to the lower 60’s. No A/C or fans for me anymore!
Yesterday got away from me, but I wanted to tell you that you smelled great! I wore AS on Sunday and was reminded just how good a perfume it is.
Thank you! ? Ambre Sultan is such a great scent. I wish I could remember to reach for it more often, but when I do I enjoy it immensely!
Back from vacation. I went to a dental appt., Endocrinologist appt., Orthopedist appt. (to check my broken bones), and a Opthamologist appt.. I found out that my cataracts are ready to be removed, but that my retinas may detach if the cataracts are done. Friday, I had the plumber in, and he had to come back today, to finish. I got my splint removed and no longer have to wear an elbow brace. Time for physical therapy. After an eventful vacation, I’m ready for work. Today I was craving vetiver, and I put on a sample of Vetiver Oriental. I’m not getting a lot of vetiver.
Wow, that is a lot of medical stuff! You need another vacation after all that.
I would categorize them as sick days. Glad your bones are on the mend. I would be curious to see what johanob thinks of the eye conundrum.
Good thinking, Hajusuuri – our office went to the PTO concept, but PricillaE maybe you should see if you can get sick days for some of the time off! AND I hope you continue to heal. I was very “high minus” (nearsighted) when I had my cataract surgery rather young, and it worked out fine, though I am warned about retina issues each time I have an eye exam.
Wow, way to get that list buttoned up! I hope all goes well with the surgery and that your elbow brace can come off.
Arghh – lots of medical stuff, hope it all turns out well, especially the retina issue.
After simply having a retinal tear repaired a few weeks ago, your eye issue freaks me out! And I agree with Robin, you need another vacation after all of that.
Good morning Y’all,
Smelling like kettle popcorn at a street fair in House of Oud What About Pop! Luckyscent released a new YouTube review about this one yesterday, which reminded me I have a sample. LOVE IT. In fact, I just ordered a 7ml travel size because that’s all my budget allows for, and it’s all I’ll ever need of it!
Here’s the link to the YouTube video and notes if you’re interested!
Oops! Link is here! https://www.luckyscent.com/product/764027/what-about-pop-by-the-house-of-oud
That sound fun. Luckyscent sample deals got me with Fraaagola Saalaaata for a Fun Fair-type scent. I bet I would like Pop!, and unless you can’t do strawberry, you might like a little sample of FS next time you visit Luckyscent!

I’m in Blumarine II, for cp points, from a bottle I’ve had forever. It’s a gorgeous woodsy floral, but I’m sure I was swayed by the beautiful bottle as much as the perfume. It’s faded a bit over time, but still wears well.
SOTD = Tazo English Breakfast + Cultured Cup cream oolong + pinch of cardamom
I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday!
I forgot to say my tea!
I am having Yunnan Zi Xiang Organic, from an Upton order that just came yesterday.
You have a wonderful Tuesday too!
Comparing BDK Rouge Smoking and Tom Ford Lost Cherry today. ? So far they are both damn fine…like a black cup of coffee. ☕️ Lost Cherry has stronger cherry in the opening so far…will weigh in again later.
I binged watched S1 of Killing Eve over the past week…a most enjoyable diversion. ??
I love Lost Cherry but then again, I’m admittedly a sucker for TF. I’ve heard great things about Killing Eve!
I am lemming Lost Cherry… saving up my Nordstrom notes.
Killing Eve is still on my list of shows to watch, but I’m taking a break from shows to try and focus on reading. I’m still watching tv and movies with my boyfriend, but I’m not watching anything on my own.
Wearing L’Artisan Tea for Two. Soft spot: learning that perfume can be so many things, including a comforting cup of cinnamon tea. Also, it taught me to give a perfume a chance to go through all it’s stages – let it open up, warm up, dry down. Really experience it.
Relevant to this week’s cp, you all might enjoy Perfume Posse’s post this week as well, on five things March learned from/about perfume. http://perfumeposse.com/
I think I will join you post shower in Tea for Two.
Right now on zoom meeting in bathrobe that is wafting Tigers Nest and Volutes.
OMG. The sweater I keep putting on whenever Mr. Spicebomb turns the AC up too high smells amazing and like MANY things right now!
Sometimes I wish I could bottle the smell of my perfume drawer – surprisingly, many things all together smell wonderful!
That bathrobe would still work well with Tea for Two!
*its, not it’s. Argh – one of my grammar pet peeves!
*I* know *you* know about its and it’s! Typos attack all us “good grammar” folks.
Also, I have a perfume drawer like you mentioned. Somewhere in the blog-o-sphere, I found a debate where some hated that omni-scent and other loved it! Off to check the Posse report. They’re good folks, they are!
That’s a good one and thanks for sharing that post.
SotD is the always cheerful Eau des Merveilles.
Today its even warmer than yesterday! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
But the days are already so short. ?Sunrise at 7:15 AM…. not looking forward to the dark fall/winter season, especially with this whole working from home situation ?
yay for Merveilles!
you smell like happiness.
Smelling great!
Great scent, and so nice for warmer weather. Wish I had some…
Air quality has gone from “Very Unhealthy” to “Dangerous,” and it looks like I’ll be stuck indoors for several more days. ? I tried to walk yesterday, and my heart rate zoomed up into the 160’s. Assuming that’s due to not enough oxygen. Pooh.
When I think “soft spot” scents, I think of things that maybe aren’t worthy of perfumista adoration, but I like them anyway. Many mall scents and other similarly uncomplicated things.
So strange that now “stuck indoors” goes with “work from home” in the “new normal.” Air quality here is also no good for outside exercise, let’s hope it changes for the better for everyone very soon.
It’s really become claustrophobic to not even get out for a walk each day.
I totally agree. It’s really hard to not get outdoors for a walk every day.
Not only that but not having any windows open really sucks. It’s so stuffy in my apartment.
My energy level has been low due to the terrible air- i really hope we get this rain tonight and later on this week.
Agreed. I was a total slug yesterday.
My asthma is generally really well controlled but it was bad yesterday and this AM. I try and stay indoors but do have to walk around our work site outside some. Trying to minimize it. Hang in there and take care of yourself.
So sorry to hear of your asthma issues, Kelly! You hang in there and take care, too!
I hope you feel better.
So sorry about the air situation in your area. It must be hard to be stuck inside.
Thanks, Aurora!
So very sorry about your situation and the poor air quality. I hope you are safe and out of harm’s way. So much tragedy, it’s very disheartening.
Our air quality is gradually improving. It’s still bad for sensitive folks, like myself. I’m going to give it another day or so before I try to walk four miles.
We are in the privileged situation of being safe indoors but terribly bored and isolated. It could certainly be far worse and is for plenty.
I’m worried about all you West Coast folks! Today in Indiana, we had a “Red Rubber Ball” sunrise (I hear The Cyrkle) and it was in the local news that that was from the Western fires!
Great song reference! ?
Yeah, I’m afraid we’re going to share the joy in the coming week! Sorry.
No soft spot here—full on WANT. Laudano Nero.
“WANT”
made me smile.
I thought I’d get here yesterday, but I’m a bit buried in work right now. This week I’ve decided to wear perfumes that I’ve had since my perfumista early days, particularly the MakeupAlley days. Most of these perfumes are overlooked and sometimes forgotten these days, as I’ve added so much more to my collection. Yesterday was Nanadebary Bronze and today is Miller Harris Figue Amere. I also washed with my Korres Fig shower gel this morning for double fig.
It’s been really tough being cooped up with the unhealthy, smoky conditions. I don’t know how Californians have dealt with this for weeks now. My weekend in was made even worse by a pulled muscle and/or pinched nerve in my right shoulder blade to neck area. It was giving me issues on Friday, but I woke up Saturday to really intense pain. Luckily, it’s almost all better now, but my spirits have been pretty low these last few days. Just hanging in there right now and trying to stay focused on meeting my work deadlines.
Hope you all have a nice Tuesday!
Oh no, sorry trf! Glad you’re feeling better now!
Thanks, Koyel!
Oh my! Hope you feel better soon!
Thank you! I’m already feeling a lot better physically. I had a 2 hour phone call with one of my best friends last night, so that helped lift my spirits some.
So sorry you were feeling bad, glad the physical part is better.
Thanks, Kelly!
I hope things look up for the rest of the week. If only we could rotate our bodies in the same way we do with perfumes…out with the painful shoulder, in with a fresh alternative.
Oh my gosh, yes please! If I lived in the sci-fi world of Altered Carbon, I could.
Ouch! Good to hear it’s better. Hopefully your air quality will improve, too – we are having a moderate day and all the windows are open as a consequence.
Yeah, neck and shoulder pain is so not fun. We’re expected to not get out of “very unhealthy” until Friday or Saturday at the earliest. ?
I am right there with you (almost literally, right?) and hoping for better air soon. I neeeeeed to walk. And walk and walk. But I’m also so worried about relatives and friends who live amidst the fires in eastern Washington – and all of us in the west who see our beautiful lands burning.
But I just keep going, because what else can we do? (At least at the moment.) Hugs for you!
Yes, I feel for you too! I miss my walks so much. This evening I walked up and down the stairs in my apartment building and paced the hallways to get a little exercise. And the fires are incredibly sad and terrifying.
Hugs to you too!
man! Hugs
Hugs to you too.
Yay for double fig, and wish I could blow that smoke away, can’t believe how long this has lasted.
Robin, I’m so ready for a wind/rain system to come in. We’re now not expected to have better air quality until Friday or Saturday at the earliest.
Wow.
Ick, shoulder pain can make your whole upper body feel miserable.
Yes, it really can. My shoulder is telling me I need to spend less time using a mouse or cell phone.
SotD = Iris Ukiyoe
I needed something tender for this Tuesday. Iris Ukiyoe is an easy choice.
Miss Marple is one of my heroes, so much fun.
My local library branch reopened for curbside pick up, will head over there today for a copy of My Brilliant Friend that is waiting for me.
I think I’ll request a Christie mystery, too. I need to finish The Murder Room first though.
You smell lovely! You’re right, that IS always an easy choice
great minds think alike!
I have a copy of 84 Charing Cross Road waiting for me. I’ve always loved the movie, but have never actually read the book.
I love that movie too! I think I read the book, but it’s been a looooong time.
Yay for Miss Marple. I’m reading The Mirror Crack’d. (We just watched the movie with Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor and host of other big names. The story line would have made MUCH more sense if they’d followed the book a bit better – the book is lots of fun.)
I loved reading The Mirror Crack’d. Have not seen the movie, tho that may be a good thing.
I am a fellow Ferrante lover..
Just a little unsolicited advice re:My Brilliant Friend, give yourself 50-60 pages to have Ferrante bait you. I gave this advice to a girlfriend who wasn’t that into it…then she understood what I meant, and read the whole series going forward.
thank you for the good advice, lovestosmellgood! I will give My Brilliant Friend a long time to grow on me.
Tuesday!
1) Side eye to Jo Malone. Like, seriously? SERIOUSLY?
2) Air quality is still terrible. Am in Aeria Aurora, from a sample. A very pretty citrussy yet milky/jasminy scent that cuts right through the scent of burnt forest. It is the smell of safety.
3) Gonna do so stretching exercises until Friday- no lifting! And thrive on soup for the next few days- hydration to help the body process all of the toxins going into the lungs and bloodstream.
That Jo Malone news was pretty jaw-dropping, not to mention nonsensical. Why damage their own reputation like this?
I was like :-O
Yeah, and he’s taken so many risks lately to speak out. My guess is that it’s probably pretty routine for the Chinese office to reshoot their commercials with Asian actors, so I wonder if they even ran it by corporate. Boneheaded — probably never occurred to them that the material was deeply personal to him.
(1) Wait, why? What did I miss?
In short, John Boyega, actor, was chosen as Jo Malone’s global ambassador. He wrote his own ad and it actually won a media award. Jo Malone decided that instead of featuring John in the ad for the Chinese market they would just use his material and replace him with an Asian actor, without consulting him, of course. He resigned as Jo Malone’s global ambassador. Happily, I own nothing from this house and it will probably remain that way.
Wow….
It was how casually Boyega’s art was voided of meaning and connection. Just….whew. Gonna use up my soap and votive and be done for a while.
Essentially they produced a knockoff of a product he created but did not authorize them to do so. Is it then a counterfeit ad? ?
Oooooof. I see. This would be deeply inappropriate at any time, but happens to be particularly tone-deaf right now, I think.
I mean. I wasn’t going to buy any JM stuff anyway. But I do hope they see a financial hit to make them think better of such moves in the future.
Citrussy milky jasmine sounds lovely! As does hydration and stretching. I’ve been doing some weights but zero cardio; feeling very stagnant but I don’t think we can overstate the importance of protecting our lungs right now. Take gentle care!
You know, I was thinking about weights but I do mine at a cardio level, so I am gonna stick to stretching for now and running the filters in my fans and miniduct for now.
Please take gentle care as well!
Oh yeah, the other day, I did some intense cardio and ended up wheezing and grappling for my inhaler. Since then, I’ve been careful to puff up first.
Wait, what happened with Jo Malone?
Never mind, I read up on the kerfluffle.
Wow.
Without getting into either the politics, or the race issues, or the ethics, it is just massively shocking to me how a company can be this stupid in the current climate, after watching OTHER companies take a hit for similarly poor decisions. You would think they would safeguard their own coffers better, even if they don’t care a hoot about the rest of it.
Exactly! Tone deaf and a bad business decision to boot!
THIS BIT.
The utter lack of care and awareness of the present climate is just *waves Kermit hands*
I’m wearing Misha, Mikhail Baryshnikov’s eponymous scent from the eighties. It’s a hell of a perfume, made back when celebrity scents actually had personalities; a rich, slightly spiced chypre. It’s very autumn, somehow. Goes well with cool air and dry leaves.
OMG! I remember that and one of my cousins actually wore it for good luck! (she was a dancer and performer and is now retired.)
Love that your dancer cousin wore it for good luck! That’s very appropriate.
Oh, I loved Misha. That one and Deneuve were so beautiful.
Gotta hand it to Baryshnikov for understanding that his fanbase was largely female, and making a perfume for women. A lot of male celebrities wouldn’t understand that.
Today I am trying out my new decant of le Lion! Thank you to hajusuuri for eking out one more belated split of that one for me, and to springpansy for suggesting I ask her if that would be possible
What an absolutely fascinating fragrance. I don’t exactly love it? It’s really really weird. But I love smelling it. Does that make sense? It’s a “what WAS that? I need to verify through 1000 more sniffs” kind of a scent for me. I get a Cuir d’Ange kind of awful raw leather note, plus the burnt tires and vanilla of Bulgari Black, plus a big dose of burnt marshmallows a little distance from a tame little campfire. Which isn’t what other people have said about it here, and isn’t what the listed notes suggest. What did you all say it was? A cross between Shalimar (which I loathe) and something I like?
Thank you to everyone for your bolstering words yesterday about the super stupid mistake I made! I mentioned this late last night to those who asked, but for the rest of you who are interested: everything went fine
as you said they would. I told my boss and my boss’s boss, and both just said, Great, so glad you figured it out! Now we can move forward! And the roomful of people I told, including those whose time I had wasted, just said, Oh, ok, glad that’s resolved! And then we all moved on and no one dwelt on it. Hooray!
Glad to hear it all turned out okay at work, Koyel ?
Le Lion sounds intriguing. I may have missed the buzz/news…is it from the Les Exclusifs series?
Thank you
Yes, I believe it is a new Exclusif! I was intrigued by it by all the Lion love poured on it by other recipients of hajusuuri’s great split!
Glad it went ok at work.
I get the blvgari black in Le Lion too.
Thank you, lillyjo!
That’s a relief, that it isn’t just me
I think Le Lion is weird, too, but it’s still a comforting scent, IMO, which is an unexpected combination!
Hmmm. I think I get that, weird but comforting. It’s a very skin-adjacent, warm-but-sheer (in that way Chanel has) scent!
1) Le lion is intriguing!
2) And of course it turned out for the best!
Thank you, Ede
yes, it is!
I’ve totally had that experience of loving smelling something that I don’t quite actually love in itself. Arbole has been occupying that niche for me lately — every time I try it I have my nose glued to my arm all day, but the whole time I’m thinking, “Hmmm… well… errr…” Total intellectual respect for these types of fragrances, and I may yet fall in love!
Ughhhhh. Arbole was a total scrubber on me! But I see it being a complex, intriguing scent for someone else.
A lot of raunchier scents fall in that category for me–the more animalic ones, for example.
It’s definitely worth a sniff!
Glad it’s all sorted out. But now you make me try Le Lion badly….
Thanks, tannina!
Awww. I do hope you get to try it soon. Worth seeking out! (I would absolutely not go to a department store right now, but I know Europe and the US are in very different COVID containment situations.)
Glad to hear that your work situation resolved in the best possible way!
Glad it turned out okay! My hajusuuri Lion decant is waiting for me in CA, very interested in sniffing with all the wildly differing opinions.
Please share your impressions ASAP!
Spritzed on some Iris Torrefie. Glad a couple of you noted to me that got your packages and are enjoying it.
I so wish I could get my favorite scented cleaner but alas none for 6 mo now. Scentiva Pacific Coconut. I just have Mr Clean now lol which is good but not as lovely smelling. I want coconuts lol. Maybe there is a another coconut cleaner out there..hmmm lol.
I got mine last night! Sorry I didn’t email right away, was cooking when my hubs brought it in and then got sidetracked and forgot. Thanks so much, I am loving it!
Glad you are loving it:). Thanks for participating:).
I received mine yesterday but haven’t tried it yet. Thanks so much!!!
Ever since your split, since people have been writing about how much they enjoy it, I’ve had Iris Torefie FOMO. Sigh.
I’m sitting beside you on that bench! It’s getting an amazing amount of press.
Queen of Chaos here. Wearing Tubéreuse Criminelle. I don’t know whether you mentioned it on the blog, Robin, but Diana Rigg died a few days ago. Great actress and one of those fearless women.
Tea is a White Peony Jasmine. Can’t remember what it’s called.
Oh, that’s sad. I always thought she was so elegant.
Yes, interesting that Both actresses grom the Avengers are very elegant (Joanna Lumley Boeing the other).
Clearly typing on my new phone is not one of my best skills ?
How they tried
Stupid autocorrect!
You made me chuckle!”Joanna Lumley Boeing the other” sounds like something AbFab Patsy would actually do!Haha!
Yep, remember hoe they troef walking on the luggage convertor belt at the airport?
I give up. ???
Thanks for mentioning Dame Diana! She is one of my favorites, and I have so many fun memories of watching “The Avengers” both in the ’60’s and a few years ago when DH, a friend and I watched the whole series one Winter. It was from the library, and I found recently that all the DVD’s had been stolen! I wanted to watch several episodes again, especially, “You Have Just Been Murdered” and “The Hidden Tiger.” So much campy fun!
I have only very distant memories of watching that series. I do remember enjoying her in the Mrs. Bradley series. She had such a great voice!
That was such a fun show! She rocked it!
You know, I did hear that and meant to mention it here but then five thousand other things happened. I will do so tomorrow, thanks for the reminder!
I thought that there might actually be quite a few fans on here. And I’m with you on the forgetting.
Iris Torrefie today thanks to the split. Loving every second of it! It stays on me so well too. I got it in the mail last night and sprayed as soon as I opened it- could still smell it this AM so I happily resprayed.
It’s abundantly clear after the past two weekends that I am too old to be keeping up that travel schedule lol. Labor Day weekend in NM, work, 3 10-hour days, red-eye flight to Alabama for the weekend. Goodness, it was fun but I’m just SO tired. I can’t wait for this weekend to just stay in my pajamas on the couch.
I hope you find some cozy pj’s for the weekend…
I’m glad you’re giving yourself time to decompress!
I have a confession regarding Iris Torrefie. It is in mail quarantine right now ?
SoTD: Cuir by Mona d’Orio. One spray in the heat is all I need today. It’s beautiful and well behaved.
I still have leftover cardamom
from yesterday’s Heeley’s Zeste de Gimgembre. I think I am still happily in last weeks CP.
There is some smoke too.
Not a soft spot but a full-on love — I’m in Carnal Flower today. A kind friend loaned me an air purifier while I wait for one I ordered to arrive, and I’m enjoying a day without significant asthma so I don’t mind having some perfume in the mix today!
Oh, you smell wonderful!
We don’t have an air purifier, so we’ve been running the fan to our AC/Furnace nonstop. Tired of the constant white noise, but it does seem to help. Hope your air purifier arrives quickly!
Blanc Polychrome from Atelier des Ors for me today.
With occasional wafts of Amouage Enclave that I’m testing.

I have a bottle of this little gem too! You smell wonderful.
Tomorrow os my FriYAY!
That should be “is”
Bit cold with a touch of snow on the hills so I am going with a cuddly soft spot, Black Cashmere, from a sample given to me by Waterdragon. I like it because it reminds me of our first cafe meeting, at an art gallery, where we sat sniffing samples she had brought along, oblivious to the strange sight we must have made as we huffed each others wrists.
Hoe is Waterdragon? Black Cashmere is great in the cold.
I must email her as I haven’t been in touch recently.
Good luck with your move! Exciting!
I’ve wondered about her and missed her too. I so enjoyed reading her posts. You sound cozy
One the rites of Autumn in my household is me finding the vestiges of poison ivy somewhere, I never see it, and getting a booming case! This fall is no different it would seem. I do not want to go to the Doctor, crashing my immune system with steroids does not seem like a good option during a pandemic. Using Green Goo and oral antihistamines and resigning myself to this taking a while to clear. No perfume for me since it is on both arms, one hand, my chest and torso and some patches on my face and neck. I am sure the oils got on my hands and then I just unknowingly spread it around. ?
Oh no! I hope it clears up quickly.
Yikes! I don’t really know how to identify poison ivy even after looking at pictures – hope it clears up without steroids or just topical ones!
“Leaflets three, let it be!” I grew up in an area that did not have poison ivy but was still able to ID it when my family took a vacation to the Pacific Northwest.
Feel better soon!
Oof! Hope it clears up quickly!
PI is my gardening nemesis. It is widespread in our area. If I don’t work to find each new sprig, the next year I will have vines! Hope you are better soon.
Yikes!
Yikes. Hope you heal quickly.
Wow, that is impressive stinker_kit…both to get it every year, and to get so much of it! Very good luck to you.
Ugh, I’m so sorry! I find that Tylenol helps relieve the itch enough to sleep, when I get a PI rash. At night, I take Tylenol PM which also has the kind of antihistamine that knocks me out! Feel better!
How awful! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Doing the CP today, and going with CB I Hate Perfume Black March. I don’t wear this one that much, and I got it early in my perfume collecting days, but I have always loved smelling like soil. It reminds me of planting tomatoes in the greenhouse on my grandfather’s farm in February.
I need the comfort today, I suppose. It’s just Tuesday and the week is not shaping up well on any front. And the smoke is keeping me inside so I can’t walk off the tension like I normally would. Plus it’s a weird year for moths here — they are everywhere, and hanging out on my windows, and it’s somehow making things more depressing. That said, it’s mostly just minor things and the general state of the world that are sad now; there’s been nothing major personally so far, so I’m thankful for that. Just feeling claustrophobic like many here.

I am sorry things are so tough at the moment. Your post made me curious about the impact of fires on moths. It seems that day pollinators, like butterflies, do okay because lots of flowers bloom after fires but moths don’t fare very well, as they lose their breeding habitats.
I think the proverbial “other shoe” will continue to drop regarding the long-term impacts of these fires on animal life. We have two average-size birdfeeders out back, and we went through 50 pounds of shelled sunflower seeds this past month. When we moved to this house, in 2012, for years we were ordering 50 lb bags every six to eight months. That and low flying hawks, and our yard is like a ‘circle of life’ after school tv special for fowl.
Interesting article! Turns out our moths are a spike of local looper moths that happens every decade or two. (I got curious, too!
)They should be fine, since we’ve been fortunate to have a relatively decent fire season this year in BC. (The trees they’re killing may not be so happy right now,, though). That’s been kind of the kicker here — no fires but we’re getting all the smoke from the U.S. fires anyway.
Exhausting. I hear you.
Not feeling very chipper myself – sending you commiserating hugs.
Batucada for a very warm day with lots of sun. It’s our first day of our vacations and we cleaned out the garage and drove the trash to recycling. Had lunch at the Italian restaurant. Later I met a friend to walk her dog, then made a sort of Salade Nicoise for dinner with a very good wine from the Nahe region.
Enjoy your vacation!
That sounds like a very good day!
Have a wonderful vacation!
Jasmin Perle du Thé since it is Tuesday. And I have a soft spot for this because my sister gave it to me from her trip to south of France. Another that I didn’t care for at first spray, but it has grown on me a lot. Very easy wearing.
Beautiful weather, but I’m obeying NY quarantine rules…
Does this mean you don’t go out at all? A friend of mine drove here from Florida and she said she’s quarantining but she had gone to a grocery store to get food — weird how she did not think she can get groceries / takeout food delivered?
Likely that we will run into local grocery store wearing masks. But I will do my best to comply otherwise. Certainly, if I felt any symptoms, I wouldn’t go out at all.
I wrote a comment yesterday about my soft spot for Madame Rochas, but somehow lost it before I could hit the button post it. Today I’m back with last week’s CP, wafting cardamom in Majda Bekkali’s Mon Nom est Rouge.
Why the soft spot for Madame Rochas?
I’m going to have to ponder about any “soft spot” perfumes I may still have. Nothing immediately comes to mind.
Mostly sunny here in southern New Jersey, but the smoke from the fires out West has reached here. The sky is a weird milky color instead of blue today.
SOTD = back in Fat Electician, from the sample stash. Maybe a sample “thunk” is in my near future…
I don’t know why I never thought the smoke will travel this way ?. That said, I saw the biggest, most gorgeous orange moon!
The weather guys and gals on one of the local TV channels I watch said that the smoke got picked up by the jet stream. Knowing that, it could make it across the Atlantic Ocean pretty soon…
My weather people said it was affecting our clouds but was to high up for us to smell the smoke.
SOTD = Memo Paris Winter Palace
Not with the CP. I love this one. I am taking advantage of the suddenly cooler weather to wear my colder weather scents!

Going out for my walk now and will check back in later. Toodles. I should make a confession but I won’t (see, I just confessed about having something to confess, I just did not provide details ?).
How was your walk?
I did a 5K! I knew I had to leave the parking lot no later than 6:45pm and I also know that I have to keep moving that earlier pretty much everyday. There seems to be a more accelerated timing of when it gets darker, but then again, what you mentioned about the smoke may have had something to do with the earlier darkness!
Impressive! Good for you!
Correction. Today was almost a 7K, yesterday was a 5K.
Even more impressive, wow!
It is still too smoky to exercise outside, so I am stuck inside and going a little stir-crazy. One bright spot, the health authority has said not to vacuum since it will put more particulate matter into the air, so I’ve taken that as license to forego cleaning a few days. I will pick up the dust bunnies by hand. I wanted something warm and comforting so I am using up the last of my vintage Bois des Iles parfum, from the tiny rectangular dabber bottle. I think there is one more wearing in it but then it’s gone. Gorgeous stuff.
Oh no! That isn’t the BdI parfum you purchased only a year or so back in duty free, is it?! If so, I don’t know if I’m impressed or disappointed to hear it’s gone so fast!
And nice to know about the vacuuming. We should make sure SheriG has heard.
No, that BdI is still going strong, plus I have an unopened backup. A couple of years ago I bought a tiny mini of BdI from Etsy, about 40% full, one of those that would have been in a coffret. I’ve managed to eke it out until now.
Nice to have official dispensation not to do housework, isn’t it?
Oh, that’s a relief! I’m glad you’re not running out so soon and have plenty to look forward to wearing.
If only it was bad for air quality to wash dishes!
From NYT comments to a wildfire article:
Use a filter, like for a central home HVAC unit and duct tape it to a box fan. It will work better than if you were running it through your home AC. It also works better than a portable air purifier. If you use the correct filter it will filter out smoke particulate.
I’ve been wearing L’Heure Bleue EDP, which I hadn’t tried before, and I am enjoying it so much! There’s something about its soft spiciness that really suits September.
