Guerlain Fol Arome ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 15 September 2020 19 Comments

Guerlain has reissued Fol Arôme, a 1912 fragrance originally developed by Jacques Guerlain.

From a machine translation of the original French:

This Extract de Parfum is just like its name: irreverent and unexpected, daring to play with the ambiguity of genres beforehand. Its powdery floral heart - iris, carnation, rose - meets with a bang the invigorating freshness of aromatic notes - sage and lavender - reputed to be more masculine.

A magnificent and explosive encounter between aromatic notes and a floral bouquet. At the top, notes of mint refresh, sparkle with a zest of bergamot and reveal accents of peach and lavender on an eminently floral heart of rose, daffodil, Grandiflorum jasmine and sage. In the background, the sweetness and generosity of vanilla, carnation and its spicy accents, cassia with a powdery mimosa tone and suave iris are expressed.

The floral aromatic powdery was reorchestrated by Thierry Wasser.

Guerlain Fol Arôme Parfum is a limited edition, and runs €650 for 30 ml Extrait de Parfum. 964 bottles were made.

If they will specify in writing that there is no white musk, I will work up an interest 😉

Actively annoyed by this price, because I would absolutely buy this if it was more reasonable.

Have you tried the original? I have not so curious to know what would be a reasonable price that’s worth paying for this parfum?

I have not but a lost/resurrected guerlain could get me to lemming pretty quick if this was more of a normal extrait price, instead of double that.

I have too many other things to be actively annoyed at, so I am sticking with passively annoyed ?

Maybe they’ll come out with an EDP if it’s a success.

964 is a strangely specific Edition – was it 1000 and they dropped a tray of them in the factory ? ??

Guessing they made 2 imperial gallons – which would be about 9 litres. Which would be about 9.1 litres – which means about 9.4ml per 1oz bottle – which would give it about a 30% concentration, which would be perfect for an extrait.

I have heard Thierry Wasser mention production of Nahema in gallons – so I am guessing this is how they measure the production of the concentrate and after dilution, this is exactly how may bottles they could fill.

Robin, I think that the word “by” is missing from the first sentence.

Perfume whiplash–“Wow! New/old Guerlain!” “Nope, don’t do limited editions.” “That PRICE!”

Well, the good news is that this is making Winter Palace seem like a bargain. 😉
