It's Nouveau Niche Friday! (Also, ? Emoji Day, World Day for International Justice, David Hasselhoff's birthday). Our community project for today (an updated version of a poll from 2015): wear a perfume from a new (2015+) niche brand.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I do not have many choices, but you don't have to twist my arm to get me to wear Arielle Shoshana Saturday.
Reminder: on 7/24, wear a perfume by Zoologist, Xerjoff, Worth Paris or Yosh if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letters W, X, Y or Z.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Happy Friday! My scent of the day, is a Niche Brand.
Parfums de Marly Delina
It is sparkling and joyful. Unfortunately I am not feeling well. But I still must wear a scent to make me feel happy.
I hope you feel better soon
Thank you.
I’ve not sampled anything from PdM.
I hope you feel better soon!
Thank you , you should definitly try PDM. They have a wonderful line.
Feel better soon!
Thank you
I hope you feel better before too long!
Best wishes for recovering quickly.
I hope you feel better soon!
I hope your fragrance enhances your sense of well-being and that you feel better soon.
It was always going to be my much loved À ce Soir by Pont des Arts.
I’m going to have a nap soon, it feels like I have been awake since last week 😉
Tea is Brume de Jasmin by MF.
You smell great
Yes, nap FTW! Enjoy. And I hope the exhaustion treadmill slows down soon.
You smell lovely! I had a small decant of this a couple of years ago and went through it pretty fast but have not yet replaced it.
Enjoy your nap and your weekend ?
Sleep well!
Have a great nap!
Dame Mint Man
Found your perfume MOJO?
LOL ? sorta… Giving this one a test run… it’s a largish sample.
I’ve been sampling that one myself and love it.
It’s really good!!! Would mind if a full bottle fell from the sky LOL ?
What’s on this fall from the sky list? ?
At the tippy top is Paris Deauville. I was gifted the Shampoo and body wash for my birthday but middle one stole it. I loved how it made my hair smell so I am certain I would enjoy the EDT.
Wonder what Dame Leather Man smells like? I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone comment on that one.
My son has it!! If I remember I will test it.
In Pacific Lime again – the only perfume I brought with me.
Hoping to sample Lancome Bigarade later at Nordstrom. I’m on an orange kick this summer spurred by the wonderful FM Bigarade Concentree
In other scented news I was very bad and ordered on evil bay both a big tub and travel size of Dyptique’s riche soin body cream. The texture is so amazing and the scent feels like it would layer well
Ooh lovely!
And luxurious:)
Did you get your defective BC sprayer to work?
No! So frustrating. But they sent a replacement
So no Lancome but tried JM Orange Bitters. It’s a limited edition and I liked it but it has something too synthetic in the drydown
Okay so now I’m eyeing travel sprays of this on evil bay, synthetic drydown be darned. Someone stop me please!!
Don’t do it! You wanted to sniff that Lancome, and you might like it much more. Save your perfume $$$.
Thanks Jalapeno for the valiant effort but alas it’s too late. I found a $14 travel spray on evil bay and decided to just forgo my latte for the next three days and get it #perfumemath
Happy Friday, everyone!
The only other CP-compliant fragrance I have is Sylvaine Delacourte Virgile, and I am happy to wear it today.
This project seems much harder than last time! I wonder if that is niche brand overload.
I just can’t keep up with all this new stuff for sure…
You smell great
Thank you!
Scent twins Robin. I also chose Arielle Shoshana, although my sample was old enough that it was not called Saturday. I thunked the sample today. I think it is decant worthy.
Hey twin! I am very happy to have the 10 ml spray.
Oh, I was wondering about that–wasn’t the first scent just called “Arielle Shoshana?” That was my memory, and then I was surprised to see it called “Saturday.” Thought maybe I was having perfumista dementia. (You know, when we get so old in our perfumistahood that we slowly lose the present memories and regress into our old scent memories!)
She renamed the first scent Saturday when Sunday was released. You are correct!
3rd with Saturday! Haven’t worn it in ages, and it’s a lot of fun.
Part of the AS Saturday crew!
Bengale Rouge again today. I’m so smitten!
Home closing was yesterday, money is in the bank today and I’m so relieved to be done! I know owning a home is the American dream that is sadly out of reach for many these days, but for me it was just a huge burden. Good bye money pit, is what I say!
Have a great weekend, all!
I’m so happy that it’s done with! Live your own dream, Deva??
Thanks! Rock on, sister! ??
Deva, because of your post yesterday, I dreamt of my 9 year old self in my polyester navy flowered outfit. Dancing away.. it was wonderful ?
No way! That’s fabulous, and I’m happy something I typed brought good memories to you. Keep dancing, girl, and not just in your dreams…??
Congratulations! What a relief!
A HUGE relief. ?
Deva, I thought I had less worth or value when I lost my home after a divorce. It took a long time for me to shake that.
It doesn’t define you. You define you. Now are are freer to follow what unfolds before you.
I’m sorry to hear that. That must have been a very difficult process to go through.
Dignity and self- worth are always internal structures in my experience. I’m glad you realized how important and valuable you are, home or no home.
Strangely, I’ve always had an irrational fear of being homeless. I had a very secure childhood, so I’m not sure why I had this issue. However, now that I’m officially “homeless,” it feels like I confronted and won against an unseen enemy.
Well said and a big congrats
Congratulations on the sale and conquering the fear!
Congratulations on your house sale! Thank you for the work you do.I decided to retire from nursing in April after 35 years.
I don’t blame you one bit. I hope you enjoy not going to work every single day! ??
35 years! That is a great career❤️!
Thank you!
My comment got lost somewhere.
Congrats on “getting rid” of your house.
I will be curious to see what you will do next.
Ha! Next is more of the same. Work, work, and more work with some time off in between contracts. I have plans for the house revenue in a few years, but for now it’s tucked away out of sight! ?
Good! Have you something lined up for after NC?
I’m here until the first week in October, unless my contract get cancelled before then. After that I was planning on heading west to do some fall camping and hiking, but this is very tentative due the precarious position this country is in right now. I may just head west and start another contract ASAP because the fall and winter here in the US are going to be horrendous. The best part of all this (if there can be a positive) is that I don’t feel pushed to make any decision based monetary need. The worst part is that now, US citizens will be getting inaccurate information from the government regarding this virus, so really, we’re working blind. ?
I sympathise. It must be difficult and scary.
I would not have the courage to do that, hope it works out for you
Thanks!
Congratulations, Deva!
Thank you!
Congrats on getting rid of something that was burden rather than a joy.
Yes, it was never a “home” in the true sense of the word. Just a building I lived in. I hope the next people love it a lot more than I did!
Congratulations diva!
Thanks!
Congratulations deva!
Thanks!
Well done! As I listen to some drips coming in from a leak in my chimney, during what appears to be a tremendously bad thunderstorm, I can definitely feel you when you refer to a home as a “money pit.” Freedom would be nice! But I don’t think I could manage to live a life with all of my cats either in an RV or a rented apartment, so I stay here.
(Actually, I do like my home, but it’s just so much trouble!)
Hope your leak gets sorted sooner rather than later! I think your kitties love that porch packed with plants too much to leave it. ?
I have seen people that travel with cats and even birds. These folks are masters of creating “kitty condos” and aviaries outside their rig. Some are very imaginative..!
Wow! Really! I could get into that. Hmmm.
Yay!
??
Congratulations Deva! It must be such a relief for you. Happy roads ahead.
Thanks!!
Wow. That’s an important transition for sure! Congratulations on moving forward!
Thanks!
Congratulations, it must be a relief to have done with a possession you no longer enjoy.
It is, and thank you!
Congratulations! You’ve just lost several tonnes of weight off your shoulders!
Ha! Now I need to lose them from around my waist! ?
Giggle. Years ago, when I got out of a longterm, unhealthy relationship, I was able to finally do the work to properly take care of myself. Started working out, eating better, and although I didn’t have any particular weightloss goal in mind, I *did* become a smaller size over the next handful of years. Whenever folks would ask me about it, I would tell them that the first 200lbs (ie. my former partner) were the easiest to lose. ?
Yay…congrats!?
Good job you! ? ? ?
Congrats on your unburdening and new-found freedom and best of luck on your next set of adventures. Wish I had just an ounce of your courage and free-spirited nature!
Congratulations! ?
Congratulations Deva! ??
Hi all!
I went with Ciel d’Opale, which I thought was new niche but is not. It is the most luminous floral for summer. Gone but not forgotten.
Stay safe everyone!
You too Coumarin!
Thank you!
I really like Ciel d’Opale. It is such a sunlit fragrance. Too bad Ann Gérard had to give up her perfume. I don’t even know whether she is still in business with her jewellery.
I can’t comment on her jewelry line but very sad about the perfume. I own CdO and Perles de Mousse but never got to try the others
Those are the two I own as well. I do have samples of Rose Cut and Cuir de Nacre as well. But I like Perles and Ciel much more.
I loved some of the earrings she did. I would never spend that much on jewellery myself but her stuff was very nice, understated and elegant.
Good to hear! One day I’ll break down and get a sample set before they all disappear.
I do remember seeing a few pieces in an article right when her perfume line came out. I got the distinct impression she is a less-is-more designer
Ann Gerard samples are almost impossible for me to find anymore. ☹
Good to know. 🙁
In Parle Moi de Parfum Orris Tattoo for the CP.
I am on my way to the office. First time since March. I need to work on some detailed graphics and it is almost impossible for me to do it in the small laptop screen. I need my 2 big screen monitors for it. Let’s see how it feels to be back just for a couple of hours. I hope the long commute is safe. I am glad is already Friday.
Have a safe day, everyone! ?
Hey house twin!
Hello! We both smell great! ?
Have a safe day pl67! ??
Thank you, Lillyjo! Everything went fine! ?
I like the idea of a work week that begins and ends on Friday! Hope your project is a success – may the “orris” be with you. Still, I was very happy to be back in the office, though we are very limited in our in-person meetings and banned from break room camaraderie : ( .
I was also happy to be back, especially when I saw very few people in the building. I am not planning to go back any time soon, unless it is extremely necessary. Work should always start and end on Fridays, even under regular circumstances! ?.
??
Great choice for today, smelling fabulous of course! I hope your office venture is smooth and uneventful.
Thank you, Gail! Everything went fine, thanks God!
Be safe! I hope your office is hassle free.
Thank you Sistine. Only two of us on our floor. It was in fact very relaxing!
I soooo miss my 2 work monitors. Good luck and be safe.
I was very grateful to my employer that they made getting our second monitors home with us a priority when we were sent to wfh. It took a couple weeks to get them, though, and working off a laptop screen was soooo hard!
After 4 months those big monitors looked HUGE to me. So wonderful! It is ridiculous how we eventually got used to a small laptop screen. The same with the speed of the computer. I get annoyed at how slow the laptop is, especially when working with large files, which happens to me very, often. Patience!
You smell great! How did it go? NJT is still up to its old tricks of cancelled trains. KH Murphy has now allowed full occupancy, albeit with masks, but I wouldn’t want to be commuting in these conditions.
It went pretty well. I decided to commute late in the morning and before rush hour this
afternoon. Trains were not crowded, which was a relief. At the office only a coworker and me on our floor. There is lots of work going on, like plexiglass barriers and sanitizer dispensers being installed at every single cubicle. Also special areas on each floor and at the entrance of the building to check peoples’ temperature daily. It looks like more construction work is going to be done inside. No idea what it will be, but there are lots of huge, heavy boxes all over the place. We are supposed to start slowly returning to work after Labor day. We are not allowed to be in the building now, unless we have management authorization for urgent matters. Everything is going to look and be surreal when we are back. Protocols are going to be very tough. It is going to be hard to get used to so many restrictions, but health comes first.
Glad to hear that your trip into the office was a safe and uneventful one!
Thank you, Jalapeno! ?
Jasmin Antique from Rogue. Was bad & blind bought when the Etsy store ran its July 4 discount. Turned out to be a good decision–if you love jasmine, this is a no-brainer.
Also got a sample of Tuberose & Moss, which is lovely & reminds me of something from decades ago that I can’t put my finger on.
Hmm. I am liking jasmine more and more…I will make a note of this one.
You smell wonderful! I love Jasmin Antique – my thought when I tried it was that the evocative name was not misleading. I got a Rogue sample set, but I don’t think mine has Tuberose and Moss. Will have to check that!!
Nope, no Tuberose and Moss. I have Flos Mortis and Champs Lunaires which sound similar.
Champs Lunaires is still my favorite. Flos Mortis and the chypre one were not my thing for some reason.
House twins
I think I like fresh jasmine flowers more then jasmine in perfume
Happy Friday!
I chose Milky Musk from Parle Moi de Parfum to earn some cp poins.
This one is a smooth sandalwood-musk blend, very much a delicious woody pudding.
I want their sample kit!
Me too!
I have it! Got it last year so it’s missing their most recent releases, which btw I am eager to try if someone gives me a chance 😉
The CP motivated me to find and wear my sample of Plumeria de Orris by Areej Le Dore. Heading into hour four with it and very pleased at the presence it maintains! I have the little sample from Luckyscent – IDK – 3mls? I always feel confused about how much to use – I need a serving suggestion on the labels! I can’t ever get the vials open without getting it on my fingers so I start with dabbing that and a couple swips with the stem. So far it is a tropical flower and creamy orris cloud of happiness!
I haven’t tried that one, but do really like most of the samples I’ve tried from him. And I know what you mean about those tiny vials from LS!
My default perfume prescription is 8 sprays. I say phooey to dabber samples ?.
I like your thinking. ??
Commando until after my eye exam this afternoon. Looks like we will have record breaking heat this weekend in the Finger Lakes; I am glad that I managed a walk this morning. Could be the last one for several days (unless I decide to start walking at 3:30 a.m, when I seem always to be awake — but as safe as my neighborhood is, it’s not an appealing idea).
Not sure what I’ll reach for when back from eye exam — maybe a reprise of yesterday’s Ninfeo Mio, since I have nothing that fits the CP.
Happy Friday, all.
Crazy hot and humid here too…air is like soup out there.
Oh, yuck!
We are supposed to have record breaking heat tomorrow too. Yuck.?
Stay cool! I hope your eye exam went well.
Tobacco Rose by Papillon. I’m realizing this is one I appreciate conceptually but do not enjoy wearing – too dry for me. I made this mistake a lot when starting my perfume journey. One more to sell, I think.
SOTD: Jo Malone’s Vetiver & Golden Vanilla
Currently enjoying some greek yogurt with a little honey, walnuts and chopped nectarine, my favorite new breakfast.
Happy it is Friday, been a long week.
You smell great!
Yep, endless week. Time warp.
Yum to that breakfast! I love Fage Greek yogurt. What kind do you have? Unfortunately I’m restricting myself to the 0% fat kind, but they have one that is, I think, 20% fat and oh wow, is that good!
I use the 2% (is that the 20%???) Fage plain. It’s SO good.
The 0% fat is delicious as well but once you increase that number there’s no turning back!
But try that 20% one sometime just as a treat. You’ll die!! It’s so good!
I have the 5%
I had the 5% once and got hooked. I do try to mix up the purchase to include 2% which is not as good but better than 0%.
My cats love Fage yogurt??! Does that count? They won’t eat any other brand. Their original owners, their ‘Auntie’ and ’Grandma’,’ are very Greek and fed them that from the time they were little kittens. I continued the practice so they wouldn’t forget their ‘heritage’ (even tho they’re really Maine Coon cats).??
Love it. One of my kitties loves yogurt too.
I tried to give one of my cats yogurt once, and she backed away from it in a hurry!
Greek yogurt twins! We are visiting and were asked what we needed for breakfast. Arrived to find vanilla greek yogurt, blueberries and sliced almonds.
That sounds delicious. I wish that Jo Malone scent had worked on me.
How do you like the Vetiver & Vanilla please? I sat on my hands for the Swapmeet but I was tempted…oh, how I was tempted… 😉
Friday! Yay! Slept and slept. Maybe some heretic smudge again post shower.
Always a great choice.
It’s the best when one is able to get that deep and restful sleep. I hope it continues for you. ?
Restorative sleep is incredible when you can get it, for sure!
I’m sampling Duo des Fleurs from Senyoko for the project. None of their scents have really been me scents. Oh well.
The wait is over – my little bottle of Carthusia 1681 arrived yesterday, and it’s a new love. Robin’s review here on NST is pretty much spot-on (as usual), although my nose appears to interpret the incense note as lavender-y (or maybe it has both notes). Robin probably put this one in her “woods” box, but on me it feels more like a somewhat unusual chypre. So I fail the CP completely, but I don’t mind. 🙂
Let’s hear it for CP rebels (which ironically I am not this week)
You’re a CP-rebel rebel. 😀
Need to go find that review.
Same 🙂
Ditto!
Wow, had to go read the review myself, had entirely forgotten that one! And obviously, never ran across a bottle at a massive discount 🙂
LOL! At least it’s now available in a smaller bottle than it was then.
Wearing Dusita La Douceur de Siam from a sample vial. Not crazy about it. I mostly get a sweet jammy rose which turns soapy and maybe some violet. Cannot say that I smell any tropical flowers. I will be going for a walk shortly and will switch to something else post shower.
Happy Friday!
Perfume twins, although different experiences. I get a very pretty but rather fleeting floral, not very tropical. Going to the dentist this afternoon, so fleeting was fitting
Hello twin! Glad it’s working better for you?
Have you tried Fleurs de Lalita from Dusita? I liked it much better then Siam
I have not. Siam is the only one I’ve tried from the brand. Will add Lalita to the list, just looked it up and the notes sound promising. I’ve heard Splendiris mentioned here a few times but the words powdery and violet scare me a bit ?
As I had not much choice I wore Chypre Siam, which was nice in our rainy and not too warm weather. Luckily my work week is over, I had lots to do, because my colleague was on vacation. Now looking forward to a nice glass of Riesling a d some dinner
Oh, I just love a good (non-sweet) Riesling!
Ha! We’re Riesling Twins!!
The first time I had Riesling, my mouth woke up and shouted, “MORE!” Haven’t had any in a long time, but it’s one of my preferred wines. Enjoy!
Hope the other half is still recovering well!
🙂 🙂
I do like Riesling but I’m more of a Gewürztraminer sort of woman myself.
You should try it with Indian food, amazing!
It’s hard, though, to find a non-sweet Riesling. I have found a few in some local wine stores, and am always pleased to have one, but they tend to be rather expensive. Oddly enough, I got turned on to them while visiting wineries in South Australia. They make some fantastic dry Rieslings there. Again, they’re extremely hard to find here, even though we have some excellent wine stores.
Have a wonderful, relaxing evening. You really deserve it!
When I finish the rosé that’s in the fridge, I may buy a Riesling. It’s fabulous, especially in summer. I had a glass at my husband’s bday dinner at a fancy place last year that almost made me fall out of my chair…it was that delicious.
I’m participating in the CP (for once) in dabs of three orange blossoms from the Sylvaine Delacourt Orange Blossom sample collection (from yet another lovely NST swapper!).
So maybe I should get 3 points to make up for my usual lack of participation. ;D
Happy FriYAY!
*Delacourte
Which ones did you dab?
House twins! Wearing three orange blossom perfumes sounds awesome.
A delightful package of classic decants arrived this week from a long time perfume friend and I am wearing Chanel 22 today. I have always heard that Baghari smells like Chanel No 5, but no, it smells more like 22 to my nose, lots of snappy aldehydes and pretty florals.
Have a good and safe weekend, NST.
You smell gorgeous! Love No. 22.
Following a Deva’s lead in Bengale Rouge, since she recommended it for warm weather. It was either that or Cap Neroli, and I was in the mood for something warmer and less herbal.
Was able to have our first restaurant meal in 4 months last night. We went over to our Italian place, and I had my usual linguine with meatballs. Glorious weather. Got home and had a white peach for dessert while on a 2.5 hour Zoom visit with friends in CA. The husband had a raspberry panne cotta from our local French bakery. Nice evening.
That sounds like a perfect evening, so nice to be eating out again!
Hi twin! That dinner and desert sounds delish! ?
That does sound like a nice evening!
Yum.
That sounds wonderful. However, I am still leery about eating at a restaurant right now.
SOTD will be Sunday, whenever I wake up enough to get dressed and give myself a spritz. +1 CP pts.
I canned 20 quarts of berries yesterday, and they didn’t seal. I’m guessing I didn’t process them with enough of a rolling boil, so back into the pot they go.
I can the raspberries with raspberry wine, and the blackberries (marionberries, actually) with blackberry wine, which gives the juice a wonderful flavor. Unfortunately, the raspberry wine EXPLODED on me, and I ended up with half of the bottle sprayed all over my kitchen. It looked like a scene from Dexter.
Oh no! The berries mixed with the wine sound glorious tho!
They really are luscious! I got the recipe from a local blogger, who suggested using wine instead of juice, or worse (and often suggested by extension services), WATER! I don’t drink, but I don’t mind cooking with alcohol. The wine lends a wonderful richness to the filling.
Sorry to laugh but your description was kind of funny! I hope the process goes better today.
No worries. I’m laughing, too, kind of. ??
I was literally showered in wine–had it all over my hair, my tshirt, and of course, all over the kitchen. Cannot fathom why there was so much pressure built up in that bottle! It was like shaking up a bottle of sparkling wine before letting loose the cork!
Oh yikes, I bet that was a sticky mess.
Yes. Kinda still is. I cleaned up the cabinets, fridge, walls, doorway down to the basement, floor, etc. Then my husband came home and commented on “all the wine everywhere,” and he did it himself, too. Pretty sure the floor is STILL sticky with it! We’ll have to mop again today, I think.
Oh no. Awful. It reminds me of the time I meant to warm up maple syrup in the microwave in one of those plastic jugs. I meant to run it for 10 seconds but ran it for a full minute. It boiled out all over everything and as I’m sure you can imagine, THAT was a true sticky mess.
Oh no! And maple syrup is certainly not cheap.
Scene from Dexter indeed! We were just talking about that show 2 nights ago.
Your berries sound delicious.
I think it would be too dark and gruesome for me these days, but I liked the first few seasons of Dexter. It jumped the shark, IMO, after a while, and I never finished it.
And thank you, they are! Something I can preserve and will actually eat! (As opposed to jams and jellies, which I hardly ever consume, and can sit on a shelf for YEARS!)
If you put on Sunday, we’ll be scent twins. So sorry about your wine crime scene!
Hello twin!
I did put it on, sprayed lavishly from the sample vial, and I think maybe I want a bottle. Too bad, it appears to be out of stock currently. ?
Sorry for the nuclear wine accident. Good for you to preserve fruit.
Thanks, Aurora! According to my husband, I should claim “playing with fruit” as one of my major summer pastimes.
My goodness, that all sounds delicious.
Always happy to share. They’re especially good on cheesecake. Hopefully they all process correctly this time!
I can’t doubt it. Now I might have to make a cheesecake?. Can you default to freezing if the canning is a miss?
Berries and wine sound delicious! (And thank you for the smile!). We have tons of raspberries, but I just freeze the ones we don’t eat or give away.
Berries + wine sound delicious! But, oy vey, on the exploding beverage part of it! ?
hey scent twin! you smell beautiful today 😀
very sorry about your wine-splattered kitchen. I had a bottle of cherries go ‘pop’ once when I was home canning, it took many months to clean all the juice off the floor and walls and ceiling and windows
Drenched myself in a dab sample of Oolong Infini, Atelier colognes.
Perfect in this hot, hot weather were having today!
I am so far behind on new niche brands that I haven’t heard of most of the ones Robyn mentions, although I did have a couple of Sylvaine Delacourt samples, the Musc ones I think, but don’t know what happened to them..
Hey, I have not heard of many of them! I gathered that list mostly from comments.
Vivacious by Hiram Green to start which opens to me just like Chanel No 19 EdT then settles in to a bit of OJ Woman and some lovely candied violet. I love the bombastic opening.
Next will be Floris Chypre-siam later tonight.
Happy Weekend all.
It’s been like drinking from a fire hose here this week.
I have survived ‘Covid Containment Syndrome only be followed by ‘Cov-haustion’.
Reminds me of a Lenny Kravitz lyric “I want to get away, I want to fly awaaaaay, yeah yeah yeah’.
Oh yeah, that song typifies my current internal monologue as well. I’m looking forward to my Vivacious decant.
Please let us know what you think, it is definitely split worthy!
I’ve had the Animals’ “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place” stuck in my head for months. (For those too young to remember this golden oldie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUpBSvN1a50 )
I get this song in my head often, usually when I’m turning into my work parking lot?
?
I love that song!
Thanks for the memories. I love Eric Burdon’s deep voice, song very appropriate.
Wow. No. 19 + OJ Woman sounds pretty good! I find violet-dominant scents a little cloying usually, but I’m always willing to try something new!
The more ppl describe Vivacious the more confused I get! Everyone seems to be having their own experience of it and I can’t form a smell picture
Ikr! That’s why I am so curious. It’s like a Kentucky derby horse out of the gate; fast furious and unpredictable. IMHO It is very different from his other scents. You have to let us know what you think.
I pointed out my Vivacious decant, displayed prominently on my desk, to my husband. I explained how much I liked the perfume and reminded him that our anniversary is coming up next month. . .
Ha! Report back on whether or not hint was successful
snort.
I’m wearing the brand new in 2020 St. Clair Scents perfume Pharaoh’s Passion. It’s lovely. I don’t feel a strong need to purchase a bottle. It’s got a lot of spices listed in its ingredients but I’m mainly getting a very gentle natural rose. We’ve needed rain but this thunderstorm is scary! I don’t have much going on except for my Zoom discussion meeting this afternoon on Camus’s The Plague. I look forward to that.
Wowza. What a topic.
I need to copy you, isn’t one of them a tomato leaf opener as well? I forget which, maybe Pandora? I liked that one a lot.
I would like to read The Plague. But maybe not for the next couple years.
Playing the CP in one my newly fave perfumes, Chronic by 19-69. I enjoy everything about this line. Their aesthetic (the bottles are very satisfying, with a splash of colored glass at their base creating the perception that the juice is tinted), the font on the labels is satisfyingly very 1960s, and the caps fit on well), to their English-language names, to their fragrances–which are not cheap, but are also not ridiculously expensive. Chronic is a buzzy green, herbally scent, that my husband (who is politely supportive of my addiction) absolutely loves.
Always nice when the husband loves something.
I really loved Rainbow Bar. I plan on exploring the whole line eventually.
Thanks, I have that one lined up for next week.
I have FB’s of Chronic and Rainbow Bar. I really want to sniff Villa Nellcote–been repressing the urge to buy it blind. I will have to put in a sample order at Luckyscent–but I get so lazy!!
https://www.luckyscent.com/product/812008/villa-nellcote-by-19-69
Just ordered samples… !
Thank you.
Hi, I haven’t commented here for ages, but it’s a lazy Friday so here goes. My perfume from a new niche house is Undergrowth by Rook Perfumes. It’s a lovely fresh, minty, grassy perfume with a touch of damp soil. Perfect for today’s blistering heat.
Oooh.. Sounds good to me!
That sounds amazing!
Hi there 2rista!
Rogue Perfumery Derviche. I had 3 from this line to choose from thanks to a generous NSTer.
Our school district announced today it will be all virtual learning this fall for at least the first quarter. So much for the survey parents had until the 26th to fill out.?I knew a decision had already been made. Joining She-ra and others here in feeling disappointed, sad, frustrated….just so many feelings.
Anyway, TGIF!?
I got an email today saying they were still deciding, but that if we wanted to opt out now for in class learning, that they were fine with that.
Yes, some of our surrounding districts are doing that. I understand everyone has to gauge their own comfort level. I just feel bad for my daughter. We live 4 blocks from the high school and she was so looking forward to no longer riding the bus and just walking with her friends. When my other daughter leaves for college she essentially becomes an only child and now she won’t even get to see her friends everyday.☹️ Sorry for the long, rambling response, lol.
Ramble away! Honestly, the whole thing just stinks. This will be my daughter’s last year of High School, and she really likes going but more for the people than the work. I’m worried she won’t be able to grasp the social distancing. I feel for your daughter.. I’m really sorry.
Thanks, I feel for all kids. The whole thing does just stink! The social aspect is huge, kids need kids.
I think everyone should be the same – all online or all in person. I don’t see that it works well to do some of each. Not to mention that those at home might start feeling like second class citizens. I’m trying to stay positive, but all of this is pretty discouraging.
I agree uniformity, at least withint a metro area, would be best. Our district is floating the idea of letting each school decide for themselves. Seems like the worst of both options, since siblings might have different offerings–not sure how families are supposed to plan if that’s the situation.
Big hugs to you. I completed a “survey” too. 😉 Le sigh. I haven’t told my 7 year old daughter yet ? and today she said out of the blue, “How many more weeks until school starts?” and if I didn’t have to do work things from home today and had more energy I would have broken down and started to cry but I kind of made a mental note to cry tonight after she’s asleep. Just keep swimming…
Oh gosh She-ra, big hugs right back to you. That breaks my heart just reading that, I would have broken down too.? I feel for you and my friends and coworkers with kiddos that age that love school and are missing out on all of that socialization. Just keep swimming is right, it’s all we can do I guess.
No points for me
Left home early for a walk in Central Park with a friend
Shalimar
Missoni dress
Thanks for sharing the pic. It was ?.
I agree, just fabulous. I’m honoured to know such a fashionista!
Early morning walks are the best b/c nothing has gone wrong yet. ??
No points for me today as I’m in Bronze Goddess eau fraiche and body creme. Off to walk down to the beach shortly after some strong coffee.
Happy Friday everyone!
How is your vacation going?
We are at my brother in laws house until Saturday. He’s in a golf tournament so we are doing our own thing during the day. My hubby was going to caddy for him but that got kiboshed due to covid; no spectators or caddied allowed. Just hanging out for the most part which is ok as they live in a nice beach community. We will head home tomorrow.
Happy Friday y’all! I started out in Juliette Has a Gun Anyway, and added Mon Vetiver for points after the doggy walk. These have a lot in common, actually. Both very pleasant to start out, but don’t last very long. If they were cheaper, I’d be more interested.
Either would be perfect for an office situation….wait, we don’t have office situations right now.
I’ve been savoring Alyssa Harad’s Coming to my Senses and am really loving this book. Trying to read slowly to make it last. ❤️
Alyssa came through town when she was promoting her book years back, and she is a lovely woman! She brought samples to discuss alongside doing the usual reading of exerpts!. Her descriptions of scents were so intimate; I thought she’d really done a wonderful job of giving the reader a look inside the romance of being swept up into a scent!
That must have been so much fun! It’s pretty cool to read about her first experiences with NST, and made me appreciate this fragrant community even more. ❤️
I would love to have that picture in my house. It’s pretty awesome.
I tried another J-Scent sample something Geisha District, then I tried Gallavant Brooklyn. I don’t like either of them. It usually takes me ten years, or so to like anything new…
I’m now wearing Aedes de Venustas original. This is still pretty new in my head, but I really like it alot. It feels very “me”
I had a terrible morning with my daughter being in pain. Called the dentist and they said this should be the worst day. She’s napping now, so hoping it improves throughout the day.
It’s a rough few days for you, even though you took days off. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. I bet you smell great.
I do smell pretty great, lol. I go back to work tomorrow so I’m really hoping this is the worst day, and that we both sleep well tonight.
Have you tried J-Scent Soft Skin? That’s the one I’m curious about.
No, I just had the 2 samples. Is soft skin supposed to be a musk?
Yes. “Your skin but better”?
Sorry your daughter had a rough morning, hope the day gets better!!
Thanks! I know we are both musk fans. If I come across a sample, I will let you know.
Oh no! Sorry your daughter is in pain. Hope it’s better tomorrow.
I’m finding a week’s holiday goes way too fast. I can be very good at doing nothing although earlier in the week we got rid of some no longer working, accumulated electronic stuff and gained some space back.
Oh, I am so good at doing nothing. I swear I never get bored of it!
I hope your daughter’s pain goes away quickly!
Thanks!
Aw, feel better soon wishes for your poor daughter.
Thank you!
It usually takes me ten years, or so to like anything new…♥️♥️♥️
I am sorry your daughter is in pain. There is delayed pain w/ dental work for whatever reason…hope she improves tomorrow. I read your comments about back to school above as well…such tough times for kids. Big hugs to you and your daughter.
Hugs right back at ya!
Aww, poor kid! Does ice cream help ??
The first and second day, she was all about the ice cream. Now she’s pretty much over it, lol! She just wants to eat real food.
I am still eating the ice cream, however?
I’m wearing Sunday today. Does anyone have the 100 ml bottle? I’m having a hard time visualizing how tall it is with that really unique top.
I just accepted a job offer from the school I was hoping to work at! Thanks so much for all the good luck wishes. I know they helped.
That’s terrific news. So happy for you.
2nd that. Go sistine!
Oh my gosh, I’m so happy for you!!! Congrats!!
Yay!!
Congratulations!!!!!
That’s awesome! Congrats!?
Hurray! Glad to hear some good news.
Yay! Crazy times to be starting at a new school, but I’m happy to hear you don’t have to keep looking anymore!
Yay, congrats on the job!
Congratulations!!
yay!
Congratulations! And we’re Scent twins today!
Congrats and good wishes to on the new job!
Great news! Congratulations! ?
Yay!!! Congratulations…that is wonderful…what grade do you teach please? I’ve often thought how different 50 ml or 100 ml seems based on the bottle shape.
WooHoo! Congrats!?
Congratulations sistine!! ???
congratulations, scent-twin perfume pal! 😀 😀
Woo hoooo! Congrats, sistine!
I got out my samples of indie and niche houses mostly from the lovely Ajda freebie. I’m pretty sure it’s older than 2015 but I picked Alexis Body Made Luminous, I’ve read nothing about it, too tired this evening, but it’s a luscious dark chocolate perfume to my nose, quite happy with it.
Sounds like it would be great with the cooler rainy weather you’ve been having.
Yes, it would be too much if it was hot, while it’s actually really good, reminds me of Missoni Gianduia, only more syrupy.
I know that you were wishing for rainy weather earlier in the year, so I’m glad that you’re getting it now. ☔
That’s right, April, May were very dry. But the reservoirs are OK now. I much prefer this weather, it is typically British weather.
I really don’t try very many new scents, I have so much perfume already. A friend sent me all her Rogue samples but there aren’t any I want to wear today. It’s supposed to get warm later but for right now I’m wearing Angel Muse.
You smell great!
I think i could get farther away from the Community Project, but wearing an Old Navy Kindred Goods body mist Pink Poppy & Starfruit. Tagline “this stuff has no boundaries”
Honestly, it’s great. I love it. It strongly reminds me of the Herbal Essences of the 90s. Bright, cheerful, cheap.
No weird musk or syrup or funky smell.
But definitely not niche ;D
I miss that Herbal Essences smell! 😀
Herbal Essence smell yes!
Wearing Angela Ciampagna Rosarium which just squeaks in at the 2015 line for CP points. The day started out grey and blustery but it’s quite abruptly transitioned to sunny and cheerful, which is helping my mood a lot!
Happy Friday!
Jealous of your sunny and cheerful weather!
Cire Trudon Bruma for another steamy day that started with thunder, lightning and torrential rain. Need to start preparing for our camping trip Monday. Off to pack!
And the road trip begins! Safe travels.
Thank you, we are looking forward to some cooler weather!
Have fun camping! How’s the puppy with it or is it her first time?
This will be her first trip with us. 🙂 My husband made her a cute puppy hammock to hang out in.
Puppy hammock! ?
Aw!
Enjoy!
Safe travels and happy trails!
Have fun camping!
It cooled off here substantially and is cloudy so I went with Francesca Bianchi Lost in Heaven for the CP. So glad I remembered that this is a brand that fits the CP. It is one that I think is well matched to my perfume tastes with more perfume wins than fails for me. The last couple days I’ve worn two perfumes by Füm that I adore, Jurassic Flower and Nerola.
Swap offer: I posted this on Jessica’s Vivacious review but didn’t get any takers there. Would anyone like to swap with me for 5ml (less 6 sprays) Hiram Green Vivacious? It’s from the split that hajusuuri did last month. It’s a nice perfume, but it just doesn’t do it for me. Let me know here, and then we can email about details.
Oh, and update on my car… still in talks with insurance after contacting a local shop for a couple quotes. Got one quote for doing minimal repairs to get my car in legal driving condition again (new driver side mirror and door handles) and another for a full insurance quality repair. Based on amount of minimal repairs estimate, I should be able to come to a solution where I keep driving this car. I really don’t want to deal with getting a new car, so I’m glad things will work out in my favor after all.
Happy to hear you feel like you have options, trf! I am likely buying a new car this summer, but I keep putting it off and trying not to think about it. I don’t blame you for not wanting to go through that right now!
Good deal!
Glad to hear that you have options for your car besides totaling it and getting a new one.
I got nuthin… on so many levels! 😀 Have worn TF White Patchouli all week, so no CP points for me. Hope everyone will get to enjoy a little respite from worries and cares this weekend!
Nothing wrong with wearing what the heart (and nose) wants!
You’ve smelled great all week!
SotD = Sunday!
Joining the Arielle Shoshana love train today 😀 Thank you again to the lovely NSTer who shared their bottle with me.
I am surprised! First because the notes are so unusual, and even more that I enjoy this scent. I’m not often fond of sweet milky smells and tastes (I’ve never liked to drink milk), but it all works so well here. The spicy cinnamon and bitter matcha are wonderful.
Pink’s A Million Dreams is playing on my speaker, a random choice by the AI overlords at Amazon music. 😉 It’s a sweet reminder to live life with eyes looking up and out into the future.
Fantastic fragrant Friday wishes to you, my perfume pals! 😀
Hey twin!
? hi! we smell fantastic ?
Hi there, house twin!
Ari in the house 😀 woot woot!
Happy Friday! You smell wonderful!
thank u! Saturday smells beautiful too. 😉 I think I prefer it as well.
I’m wearing J Scent Usubeni today.Nice fruity scent with decent longevity.I had received this sample and Rakugan as freebies and it’s nice to finally start sampling them.
Yay for good freebies!
I’m a little off CP but I felt like Pichola this morning and might need a booster for this afternoon. I don’t pick it very often but it sure is nice when I give it a turn in the rotation!
Also came across a great lip butter I hadn’t seen before…Burt’s Bees in Orange Blossom & Pistachio. Fabulous!
Love Pichola, and want that lip butter!
Happy Friday…late today b/c of pesky work.?
Sampling Dame Mate, Heliotrope & Patchouli today.
With half year over, I am on track with my perfume “budget” thus far and now pondering what else I should buy/blow the remainder on. 🙂 Perhaps a couple FBs from Dame…but not sure what else…decisions, decisions…
for you, I would say anything would vanilla you should buy! 😛
How was the Mate, Heliotrope & Patchouli? I’ve considered getting a sample of it more than once…
It’s quite nice. I get mostly heliotrope to start but the mate and patchouli show up and are there for the dry down. What I like about his Woman line where they all have 3 notes in the name is they actually do smell like the notes 😉 ehaehh b/c many perfumes as you know will be named something but leave you wondering where is the rose? vanilla? lemon?etc. b/c the title is misleading and/or marketing perhaps. I wore Minty Man yesterday and it’s wonderful if you like mate. That one is mint, mate and citrus mostly with some sweetness and light florals in the background…completely unisex and I will probably get a FB of it. I also quite like the Peach Blossom, Violet and Vanilla one. What’s great is the 5 ml sprays are $9.50 so you can sample and spray without breaking the bank…and we all should be spraying more to help get us through these hard times Spray early, spray often. ?
Hello all – my SOTD is Angel by Mugler, body oil and perfume spray. I figure I might as well go BIG today. 🙂
With so much Angel on you, you definitely went big!
You smell fabulous!
Angel is one of the few perfumes that I sniff “in the wild” where I am at. Wonderful scent trail!
Hey everyone, I hope things are going well. I did the CP today! Heretic Dirty Neroli. Very long lasting for a natural. Has quite a large dash of cumin, so avoid if that’s a problem note.
Otherwise I wore Dune Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday was Chanel No. 19, Thurs I wore Anubis; some are pretty heavy stuff for summer but I liked it.
Running around a lot at work trying to get ready for vacation. Haven’t even been able to keep up with reading!
SOTD = Arielle Shoshana Sunday
Scent twins with a bunch (tiffanie, sistine, marjorie rose) and house twins with Robin and someone else.
I love this although the last time I wore it was over 7 months ago, tsk tsk! It was really creepy that I got the exact date right (Dec. 8) as confirmed by looking at my IG post!
Anyway, here’s today’s picture:

We’re in swamplandia and I’m glad I reached my weekly walking goal yesterday.
And finally, go follow @traderjoeslineuws if you don’t mind snark.
I took the dog for a walk this afternoon and after 15 minutes she laid down on the ground and refused to go any further. Not a fan of heat & humidity.. 🙂
sorry about the swampy weather, gosh it’s awful. I’ve done my walking goal for the week too. Tomorrow is a rest day for sure.
and thank u for the usw humor, a little snark is always welcome imho, and I love TJs! went there today 🙂
Ugh! Swamplandia sounds awful. I’m in semi-desert typically but the last few days have been THAT!
Yesterday you asked about the kitty cat; short story is she lives 2 doors down and is normally an indoor cat. I think she was left out too long on the back deck and escaped but couldn’t find her way back home. We posted an ad online and had a ‘hit’ at suppertime. Mommy and kitty were reunited shortly thereafter. Glad it ended very happily and so quickly.
SOTD is JD Duality. Fragrantica describes JD as a new post-modern brand from Jeffrey Dame, niche designer and founder of Dame Perfumery, with its first scent released in 2018, so I believe this qualifies for today’s cp. First time wearing it, and although it’s not one I’d choose to wear on a blisteringly hot day, I love it! With more notes than I could possibly post, it’s creamy and warm with a little bit of spice yet surprisingly not too heavy. I look forward to wearing it again in more ‘normal’ temps.
Trying hard not to focus on the pandemic that keeps getting worse and this upcoming weekend’s temps in the upper 90’s and, instead, focus on the highlights of this week: a visit from my grandkids and son (hadn’t seen them all month), my son and DIL’s 21st wedding anniversary today, three fantastic live-streams this week from my three favorite local musicians, and three wonderful virtual yoga classes. Great stuff to be thankful for!
Wishing all a wonderful weekend ahead. Stay strong, stay safe, stay hopeful!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too
Lots of love for Arielle Shoshana today here at NST!
SOTD = Arielle Shoshana Saturday EdP, from the sample stash. I am scent twins with Robin and probably a few other people. Wow, what an amazing passionfruit note… so realistic it made my mouth water! A good choice for an icky, sticky Friday. The muggies are back with a vengeance here. ??
Horrible muggies. We’re house twins. You smell fab!
Thanks! Yeah, it is totally gross out there. And I had to have some windows open this afternoon… we seared some steaks for dinner and set off the smoke alarms. I’ll be happy when we have a functional grill again!
Twins!!! We smell good!
So sorry for the muggies. You had good weather earlier this week. It’s hard to adjust our bodies.
Arielle Shoshana, Saturday. I could really use a FB of this. I thought I’d like Sunday more but Saturday is my fav of the two.
Camping in crazy heat but at least we are at the lake so we can basically just float in the water all day!
Hiya twin! I’m considering the 10mL of Saturday, even though it is a rollerball. 100mLs of anything is just a freaking ginormous amount of perfume.
I know! Maybe I’ll do a split! I can’t take much over 30 or 50 ml these days! But I really do enjoy it because I don’t have anything else like it!
