Happy Friday, happy World Red Cross Day, and happy Iris Day! (Also, happy birthday to Sir David Frederick Attenborough and to my little sister.) Our community project for today: wear an iris fragrance, if you have one.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Prada Infusion d'Iris Absolue, my favorite reasonably priced iris.
Reminder: 5/15 is the International Day of Families. Name your favorite fragrance family, and wear one or more fragrances in that family, OR, make up your own fragrance family (like, say, wood pudding), define it for us, and wear the best example of that family.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Happy Friday!
My SOTD is Murasaki by Shiseido, in the burgundy bottle. Murasaki is in my top-three iris perfumes. It just felt right for today, green, soft, meditative, the gardenia and iris ever-so delicate.
The hubby is home today so we’re off for a four-mile walk! 😀
That sounds like an iris scent I’d like.
Enjoy your walk!
Thank you! My favorite review of this beauty can be found here:
I wore it quite often in H.S., it’s such a beautiful and compelling perfume.
http://thevintageperfumevault.blogspot.com/2010/11/shiseido-murasaki-poetry-of-perfume.html
Thank you!
I wonder if it’s difficult to find.
ohhhhhh those bottles.
I’ve wanted to try Murasaki for so long, in part because I always see your love for it! Sounds heavenly.
There’s a bottle that looks like mine on ebay right now. And very well-priced. 🙂
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Shiseido-MURASAKI-2oz-Eau-de-Parfum-EDP-SPLASH-80-Full-FREE-SHIP/283785396419?hash=item4212ed80c3:g:DY4AAOSwhv9c9HGw
Oh I would like to smell this again after all those years
I’m not familiar with it but Murasaki sounds beautiful, lovely notes, one that could possibly change my mind about iris fragrances. Thank you for sharing that great review.
You’re welcome! This is one of the most ethereal scents I’ve ever worn. It also has gardenia, galbanum, leather, hyacinth, and vetiver. I don’t know how they managed it, but it’s green without being overpowering or heavy-handed.
I have a few bottles of vintage Zen also. Shiseido created beautiful scents way back when…. 🙂
Hope your walk was great!
Happy Birthday to your little sister, Robin! ?
Wearing Keiko Mecheri Iris d’Argent. Another sample thunked.
Back to a cold, grey, rainy, annoying spring day. Patience!
And TGIF! Have a happy and healthy day, everyone! ?
Thank you! We are doing the usual zoom party later today.
This weather is just silly, I am quite tired of it.
Enjoy the party! ??
I thought for sure you would have worn L’attesa. Good thing I didn’t bet money!?
Ha! You know how much I love, adore, worship L’Attesa ❤❤❤.
But, this time I decided not to wear the very well known and favorite iris perfumes in my collection. I wanted to give a chance to those that are not so popular but deserved to be worn. I may do an extra week of my favorites irises soon.
I’ve never tried this one before, but now I’m curious. Off to see if it’s still in production.
Hope you have a great weekend!
L’Heure Bleue
(vintage from a small sample)
Toast with peanut butter, SmokeyToes, I am not going to fit into my clothes if I keep this up.
Facing the day in Chanel makeup and a cup of French press.
L’Heure Bleue is wonderful, especially in vintage form.
You smell wonderful Lovestosmellgood! LHB is gorgeous stuff.
Oh, Chanel makeup? Do tell! I love their foundations and lippies.
Certo!
Rouge Coco in Legende
Vitalumiere foundation
Eyeliner Gris Scintillant
Eyeshadow Ombres Contraste Duo Berry – Rose
Mascara le volume
Blush les beiges bronzer
Gorgeous! My favorite Chanel lippie is Rouge Coco in Experimental, it’s a medium-warm-coral, perfect for my coloring. The other favorite is Misia (a tad more neutral) but that was discontinued.
Going to look up those colors
My Italian class has a social tonight so I went all out
It’s good to do makeup, even if just for oneself
Have fun with the Italian Social, how fun!
L’Heure Bleu, Chanel make-up – tres chic! L‘Heure Bleu is firmly on my to try list.
love L’Heure Bleue. Classic and classy! 😀 😀
Chanel makeup and a cup of French press is an excellent start to the day.
Chanel’s Paris-Riviera for me today. No iris in this one but a pretty, fresh floral which fits my Friday mood.
Going for my 2nd cup of coffee and to figure out some sustenance before I get to work.
Happy Friday, fragrance friends!
You smell like sunshine ☀️
I am drinking a LOT of coffee these days.
This rainy yucky day really calls for a second cup, doesn’t it? I am craving coffee in a big way, but am trying to limit myself to 1 or 1.5 cups, so I can still sleep at night. Sometimes a cup of green tea helps me in the afternoon in place of coffee.
You smelled so good today!
I’m wearing Hermes Hiris, which introduced me to iris fragrances.
Hiris is glorious stuff. And I love the cobalt blue bottle!
I Hiris‘ed yesterday evening. It‘s like wearing a Manet painting.
Gorgeous!
hi, Hiris twin! we smell lovely. 😀
I have been wearing this for most of the week, but not today…..
Smelling amazing today.
Polar opposite of any kind of iris in DSH Chinchilla. It’s gotten very chilly here and I’m loving it. Chinchilla is keeping me warm.

The Biltmore is opening tomorrow (the grounds, not the buildings) and they are offering a 15 month pass at half the usual rate for western North Carolina counties. I would LOVE to be able to access the trails there for the remainder of my time here, so hoping to check that out today.
Also hoping to socially distance hike with an old friend sometime in the coming week. We’ve both fluffed up and we’re going to compare our fluff factor ?
In your Instagram stoey I noticed your reference to Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell…i love that album. Thank you for reminding. Its been ages since I heard it. I will listen to it this weekend ?
Oh yay, another fan! ? They made some great music together, collaborating on A total of four albums, I think?
I had to look that up haha. According to wikipedia they made 3 albums together.
I think their voices sound great together ??
To its like ‘scottish wood elf meets rugged American mountain man’
And #girlpower
Isobel does most of the writing and producing on their collaborations. ?
Oh how nice…I wish Longwood Gardens would find a way to open and not make people walk through the visitor entrance.
hope you enjoy your hike, fluff factor be d@mn3d! LOL 😀
I’m eating chocolate and jelly beans as a follow up to my first and second breakfasts, which means hiking is on my list for this weekend too.
My town is opening up hiking trails and allowing cars into parks beginning today. It will be an interesting weekend for outdoor lovers and a challenge for distancing. For the past six weeks I’ve been one of a few people walking in and enjoying visits to a nearby 400 acre park, so quiet and clean.
LLol, I can relate.
My husband just made home made Spanish rice and refried beans.
I need to watch my portion control. 😯
The Biltmore grounds are amazing….well worth whatever they charge to explore.
The Biltmore grounds are amazing. Hope you get to enjoy them.
Happy birthday to your sister, Robin.
SOTD is Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial L’Eau. This scent changed my mind on iris – after dicovering it I slowly began to enjoy other iris perfumes. Ironically I do not like Shalimar Parfum Initial.
L’Eau is powdery and fresh at the same. I think this combination of iris, vanilla and bergamot is brilliant. Still sorry it was discontinued. At least people keep splitting and selling their bottles, although the price keeps rising.
That does sound pretty!
You’re wearing one of my favourite spring/summer perfumes and you smell amazing, Glannys. I adore the citrus in that one, and funnily enough I share your view of the original Parfum Initial. I have a BUB of l’Eau, purchased immediately, didn’t know prices had risen.
Yay! And it definitely a spring scent for me too.
Woke up in no 22 and getting into the shower. I will be wearing ISM after my shower. I have two packages coming today. One of them was supposed to be delivered yesterday after being delayed. It was delayed yesterday with a “delivery exception”. I have no idea what a delivery exception is. I just don’t understand why shipping has gone to hell. Many people like me are spending good money on buying stuff but not getting it in a timely manner. I hope today is easier to deal with than last night. If not, I am happy that I am off Saturday and Sunday.
I heard from one online vendor that FEMA shipments are being prioritized over the rest of the packages in transit. I’ve had some frustrating delays in receiving orders as well, but if it’s true that it’s because emergency supplies are first in the shipping queue, then I don’t mind.
Also, many of the warehouses that ship products are working with diminished staff for safety reasons.
One package was food stuff. What I don’t understand is Ulta had my package at my doorstep within a week. I am just seeing a ton of inconsistent shipping. Amazon Prime Pantry is taking at least two weeks. There are many people like me who don’t drive and who are more dependent on online shopping. Uber and Lyft are expensive in a rural area.
Many more people are ordering online, either because shops are closed or to avoid contact.
I know I’m using Amazon for dry goods that I would normally buy at the grocery and that are always out of stock now when I order for delivery through Shipt.
It sounds like there isn’t really a shortage of food, but the wholesale system that serves restaurants doesn’t seem to be able to switch to grocery or household delivery.
You are reminding me to reorder items that were just delivered in order to avoid running out!
Well, here we are May 8th and Mother Nature has presented us with more snow! Wearing Oriental Express to stay warm.
Happy birthday to your sister, Robin!
Sorry for your snow. Feel free to send it to me. It was in the 80’s here last week, and I’d be very happy to forward that mess to you, express delivery, no extra charge. ? I’m hankering for fall colors, fall foods, and fall perfumes. I hope all you summer lovers get some heat and humidity soon! ☀️
Snow!!!! Yikes! Cuddle up with your pup and stay warm!
Snow? 😯
Well, hopefully you have hot chocolate and marshmallows at the ready! 😀
Yeah I woke up GRUMPY at that snow shower! But I’m making an epic moussaka to combat the weather doldrums, and my second cup of espresso is kicking in now.
Good call on a nice cozy fragrance!
We are getting the snow tomorrow morning ???
Hope you can stay warm!
Twins, one day apart !
I’m not a big iris person but I’m wearing my little sample of Heeley Iris de Nuit. TGIF.
And to you Elisa!
By which I really meant have a great Friday, but then I realized “and to you” meant no sense as an answer to TGIF. Argh.
LOL I appreciate the sentiment anyway Robin! <3
Brian Regan has a skit called, “You Too!” ..it’s funny.:)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C2-5mDyCKac
I agree, I have to be in the mood for iris and many irises don’t do it for me..however, Iris de Nuit is one I really like:) you smell great!
You smell great, Elisa. I wore it earlier this week.
TGIF!
Yesss I thought about the cp this morning! ?
I am wearing Iris by Le Galion.
From a sample.
Trying this for the first time and geee this is lovely.
But its not all about iris. I get lots of lily as well, and mimosa. Its very light and elegant.
Hurray for friday!
One of my favorite iris scents – you smell quite lovely, Jiji.
Thank you! ?
uhh! I adore mimosa and am always on the lookout. Might hunt that one down for a sniff, never heard of them.
TGIF! SOTD is Dior Homme, possibly the first iris fragrance in my collection.
Ah, now I’m trying to remember my first and I can’t! Might have been Hiris.
This made me wonder if Hiris was the first perfume with iris in the name (not counting that unicorn, Iris Gris). However, SL Iris Silver Mist launched in 1994, and Hiris in 1999.
I’m not sure Serge Lutens was available in the US until much later, though. Am I forgetting another iris?
Gosh, there *must* be something between Iris Gris and ISM. But I am brain dead at the moment.
Dior Homme is so good, everyone should smell it at least once. 😀
I wore that earlier this week and it is sublime.
I’m in Cuir de Russie extrait de parfum. Lots of iris and it just smells so good. Over the past few years this has become my favourite Chanel.
Tea of this morning was a very good Yunnan Earl Grey. I’m currently sipping Blanc d’Oranger by DF.
Just went for a brief bike ride to get my weekly dairy products. It’s beautiful outside. Lovely weather, flowers everywhere.
Happy birthday to your little sister, Robin!
Thank you! I wish it was beautiful here, I have bunch of (no-contact) errands to run.
The extrait and the EDT of CdR are lovely. I think that th edp isn’t very good.
I got a full bottle of the extrait years ago and I have a small decant of the EDT which is a lot smokier.
I don’t think I’ve tried CdR in edp. I did like the edp of 31 Rue Cambon. I could actually smell it.
You smelled great today!
Happy birthday to your sister, Robin!
Samsara in my hair
Iris Ukiyoe on my neck
Brit parfum on my wrists
Love the triad. Nice job! Happy Friday.
Happy Friday to you too!
Which Brit is that CM? I’ve just had a brief look at all the Burberries, but even the names are hard to tell apart ? ?
Yeah they are confusing. I only have one Burberry but it apparently has two names — Burberry Woman or Burberry London for Women, whichever you prefer, I guess…
London is a different fragrance. Different bottle too.
Take a look at the Fragrantica page for Burberry Woman… it lists both names. And yes, of course, there is a different Burberry London, and various London for Men, and a couple of London for Women Special Editions, and Brit London… and my bottle actually just says ‘Burberry’, nothing about women *or* London…
AND I see that the current packaging now calls it Burberry for Women! Another name! Yeeeeeeesh who is in charge of marketing there 🙂
I am referring to Brit which was released in 2003. London was released in 2006.
See, and I am not talking about Brit 2003 OR London 2006 at all 😉 Just plain old Burberry (or whatever) from 1995.
Terrible marketing!
Ahahaha ?, Pixel you are so right!!!!
The original Brit for women. I wore it in the late 90s/ early 2000s and drained a few bottles but then moved on. I rediscovered it in my quest for an almond scent.
I just looked it up on Basenotes. 1995, trying to think what I was wearing at that time. L’Eau d’Issey probably and Paris.
Nope, I was wrong. Brit was released in 2003. So it’s not the 1995 Burberry that you refer to. Brit has pear, sugared almonds, peony, Amber and vanilla as dominant notes to my nose. I am really enjoying the sweet almond of this fragrance.
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Burberry/Burberry-Brit-819.html
Thanks!
Sometimes I wonder why I always want to get such precise details on things that are not really that important.
2003 was the year I bought my first bottle of Van Cleef & Arpels First and Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert followed a year later.
Because we are perfume obsessed, that’s why ?. I wore First in the 80s I think… maybe late 80s?
… I have to retry Iris Ukiyoe, it’s such a long time since I smellt it! Might be too pretty for my taste, though.
Today I am actually enjoying it more than usual. It is quite sparkly and pretty. You might enjoy Paprika Brasil more which is a drier iris to my nose….the brother to Iris Ukiyoe.
Interesting … never thought of THAT one as an iris.
I didn’t either but when I wore it in the cold the iris really bloomed and I understood why I loved it so much
You smell deeeLISH! 🙂
Whenever I see Iris Ukiyoe, my mind reads that as ‘Iris Ukulele’…..
It gives me a giggle but as you can see I’m easily entertained and I need new glasses.
I love your interpretation!! I will see it that way now too! Thanks for the giggle ??
I am enjoying your voyage of discovery with Brit parfum. I picked up a bottle of the EdT shortly after it came out, and still have it. I think I liked that concentration better than the EdP. It’s held up rather well over the years. VERY happy that I do not get any peony in it, though!
Wow! You have original formulation ?. I wore the EDP a lot when it came out. I remember buying about five bottles on fragrancenet because they were massively discounted to twenty dollars each ( I think it was an error) but after I finished them I never replaced them. It’s fun to rediscover something you had forgotten about and appreciate it even more!! The candied almond is so good!!!
Wearing my only bottle of iris perfume: VC&A Bois d’Iris. I know it has lots of fans here. I love it. (I just can’t do the carrot-y root-y iris fragrances. But I’ve learned to never say never.)
I also love Iris Poudre and have a nice sample. But as discussed previously it always feels a bit more elegant than I think I am. Perhaps I can aspire to its elegance? (She says, typing away in her workout clothing with wet hair in a towel.)
Also – I want to add that a nice bottle (this one is not necessarily interesting, but feels high quality with its heavy glass, a cord around the neck and a perfect spray) really can add to the experience.
I had exactly the same experience with Iris Poudre. It’s lovely, but I feel like an imposter when I try to wear it.
You smelled perfect today! One of my favs!
I am full-on iris today in Iris Silver Mist, hello to everyone who is also wearing it!
I’m not, but hats off to you and your olfactory gorgeousness!
I wish I were! I thunked my decant awhile ago and haven’t replenished. You smell great!
I wish I was too!
Hi twin! You smell good.
Going out for a bicycle ride before it heats up here in Tucson. Spending the summer here rather than the PNW this year. After I get back and shower I’ll put on Masque Milano’s L’Attesa. Maybe switch to the Prada Absolu later. Love them both.
Have a great bike ride, I am jealous!
yay for a bike ride! 😀 L’Attesa and Absolu could be cousins, perhaps? Both are beautiful iris scents.
Sounds fun! It’s too rainy here for a ride.
Good morning! I’m in No 19 Poudre from the classic and elegant bottle style I love so much. This is the second round of six sprays.
Walked the puppy dog this morning at 7am before the rain, which never showed up. That’s okay, I’ll just get my bread baked earlier. I made a starter last night for the bread which will be in the boule shape. New recipe, but it’s from David Lebovitz, so I’m pretty pumped about it.
I hope y’all have a wonderful Friday! ❤️?❤️?❤️
Fresh bread and puppy dogs. Two of life’s greatest things.
So very true, sistine!
David Lebovitz is so much fun, and an incomparable chef. 😀 Which loaf?
It’s the Multigrain Bread, from his book, My Paris Kitchen. Here’s the recipe, it’s exactly what’s in the book:
https://www.finecooking.com/recipe/multigrain-bread
The dough is a bit dry, but the first rise went well. I’m about to start it on the second rise. Will let you know how it goes!
I love DL and I have and occasionally use a few of his books (not the most recent one which is full of interesting cocktail recipes); I will pull out My Paris Kitchen and check out this bread recipe.
Thank you!
You’re most welcome! FYI, it turned out great. ?
fantastic! thank you for sharing. 😀
Okay, the bread was a success. Will definitely make this again. ?
Have you been watching his Instagram videos? He has one every morning, and sometimes his partner is on also. They are so sweet together! I swear I’m not his sister or his book editor. ?
You smell fabulous and elegant!
Thanks, AngelaB!
Drooling over the bread! ?
You smelled great today!
Oh and your bread looked sooo good on Instagram today.
L’Occitane Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc
Nice.
Is that one in current production?
Butting in to say that I think it is discontinued.
I remember thinking they were 2 different perfumes ?
Hello all!
Eventually I’ll get up and put my bread in the oven. And after all that. Cleaning and washing up, I’ll put on some Iris Silver Mist. The one and only.
Actually planning on putting on both my Palais bottle and my newer Vapo tout Noir. I haven’t worn then side-by-side but I keep seeing mentions about a disastrous reformulation. I’ve been wearing the newer formulation a bit without any ill effects, but I’ll report back!
I haven’t had a drink all quarantine but I was having such a strong craving for a Negroni that I went out and bought the Campari and vermouth. Then realize I didn’t replace my ice cube trays when I moved! Gratification delayed.
Oh no! Could you chill the liquor in the fridge?
That does sounds like my best bet!
Oh, I like negroni, maybe I will make one this weekend
Ooo I hope you do!
Maybe freeze a little water in a metal measuring cup or something relatively small?
I was thinking my plastic egg container but I just jusssst recycled it. Not willing to grab it back out. I’ll have to putter around my kitchen and look.
I think the only thing I have had to drink all through quarantine is vermouth. Luckily I was quite stocked up, although at the moment we are out of tonic syrup and that’s one of my puzzles for next week 🙂
Vermouth really hits the spot. I love any sort of fortified wine; I was staring at the madeira selection last night too….
I do too…any sort of quinquina or americano makes me happy. And I do sort of tend to call them all vermouth. I don’t think I’ve ever had madeira!
Oh please try it! I’m drinking Sandeman’s rosewater madeira recently. It doesn’t have the aromatics of vermouth but it is lovely and complex.
Ok, is that rosewater or rainwater? Having trouble finding the rosewater online.
Rainwater, I apologize.
No worries! I will have to investigate — I usually buy vermouth in smaller bottles (375ml) since it doesn’t keep, but then again the sandeman is not all that expensive. When PA reopens the liquor stores I will see what I can find 🙂
We just re-stocked on vermouth! When we were in Spain last year, we had a yummy vermouth drink, where red vermouth was served very cold with a splash of sparkling water, and topped with a slice of dehydrated/dried orange (not just the peel, a whole cross section slice), and it was incredible. We’ve been recreating them at home ever since. Hard to believe that was just one year ago.
That is similar to my usual cocktail: vermouth, soda, spoon of tonic syrup, fresh grapefruit peel, sometimes a splash of fresh grapefruit juice or sometimes grapefruit juice ice cubes.
But I’m intrigued by the dried orange…what are you using at home? Are you drying oranges, or can you buy them that way?
I just screen shot that recipe. Now I have to build a BevMo order…
MissGoldsmith, that recipe works really nicely with Cocchi Americano (lighter version, refreshing for summer) or Antica Carpano or Cocchi Vermouth di Torino (red versions for cooler weather).
Cocchi Dopo Teatro Vermouth Amaro is also really nice, a bit sweeter maybe than the Cocchi Vermouth di Torino.
Wow that sounds lovely!!
tell me more bout this drink?
Gladly! Botanical gin, bittersweet Campari, and sweet vermouth with orange peel. Bitter but balanced. Nearly perfect!
you’re making me want to start up the bread baking and cocktail stirring, though perhaps not at the same time.
I haven’t baked a loaf of bread in quite a long time, and I’m woefully underexperienced when it comes to gin. 😉
Definitely not at the same time!
There are so many foolproof bread recipes out there I think you would be fine! I’ve never made a cocktail in my life so I’m pretty nervous about assembling it all together.
no time like the present! 😀
I admire your restraint! Along with wanting a lot of coffee, we’ve been drinking a little more than our fair share of beer and wine, and occasionally dipping into other things.
Coffee is a hard one to turn down for me, but my immune system is kind of scummy so I’ve been trying hard not to indulge in alcohol. I’ll have time to party soon enough. ?
I seem to be doing the same…more coffee, more sugar/carbs and even though I never was a drinker more ? and ?….my rewards for surviving work from home every week ?
Right there with you. Exactly this.
I would be improvising the heck out of plastic bags or cling film, and aluminum foil to make molds. ?
Haha we’ll see how desperate I get.
Mr. G thanks you very much for the reminder of how wonderful a well-made negroni is. He had been stewing about what cocktail to enjoy for the last couple of days, and your post caused me to remind him that he loves a good negroni … and consequently he has just enjoyed one to the very last drop. ?
Muffin tins, lined with plastic wrap.
I chose Chanel 19 EDP for iris day, and can’t believe I’ll be the only one. 🙂 Happy Friday everyone!
The day is young. You probably will have some twins today.
Twins. Maybe there will be triplets?
Triplet here!
Hi twin! ? thanks to you, I’m wearing vintage No 19 today. Have a pleasant weekend everyone.
So glad you’re enjoying the vintage EDT! I should see if it layers well with the current EDP I have on. Hmm.
Not a twin today, but I do love me some No. 19!
You smelled amazing today!
I’m not with the CP today. Did wear one iris scent earlier this week — Dame Monsoon — but that’s about as many iris scents as I can handle for one week, lol. I’m continuing on with my personal Spring Scents project; other scents worn this week include Nicolai Temps d’une Fete, Penhaligons Ostara, Banana Republic Vintage Green, Bruno Fazzolari Au Dela Narcisse yadda yadda.
SOTM (scent of the moment, it won’t last long) is Demeter Honeysuckle. Love this one. On tap for later is CBIHP I Am A Dandelion (another quickie).
TGIF, y’all!
I love I Am A Dandelion! A quickie but a beauty!
I may be your spring scent perfume twin, I love honeysuckle, and all the scents you listed. 😀
Dandelion always makes me smile!
I didn’t realize Monsoon was an iris scent, I have that one, will have to pull it out later. Glad you mentioned it.
Hello everyone! I’ve missed you all but have been unmotivated lately. I hope you are all staying healthy.
I went with Cuir Ottoman which is a beautiful, easy-to-wear, powdery iris/leather. Temps are dropping here and snow is forecasted overnight so CO is perfect for the crazy whiplash weather we’ve been having.
Can anyone tell me about Shalimar Parfum Initial? Is it a safe blind buy? Reviews are allover the place.
Happy birthday to your sis Robin!
Hi Petunia-
I have missed you.
I have a small travel sized of Shalimar PI, and I like it.
Tell me more about what you want our of this flanker and I will tell you if you should blind buy
I have missed you also and wish you and your family well!
I heard PI was Iris centric? I saw a gushing You Tube review so thought it might be good? I generally like earthy or leathery iris. Sweet is okay, syrupy sweet, not so much. Just thought I might snag some before it’s gone. Not sure I need it though.
I would say its sweet oriental..
It has patchouli, just so you know.
I happen to like it, but it didn’t get a lot of love.
I went through a travel spray during a swap meet last year and bought another travel spray and almost finished with that one too…
For me, my favorite Shalimar flanker is the Ode a la Vanille.
However, I never met a Shalimar I didn’t like…
Have you seen the new Shalimar bottle that is decorated with flowers? Robin posted about it, it hasn’t come stateside.
If I were able to have some time to post anything, I could send you a sample. Let me know. You have my email…
ok,
Now I went and sprayed some.
(what else do I have to do?)
I think how I feel is more in line with Victoria’s review on BdJ.
I think its beautiful, and one does not have to like The Queen (Shalimar) to like P.I. since they have some of the same DNA but aren’t alike at all..
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your help! I do like patch, sometimes. Thanks for offering a decant but since you only have a decant yourself, don’t worry about it. Based on what others are saying, I think that the Absolue is more my jam.
Hi Petunia! I hope you are well?
I’ve only smelled Initial L’eau, so I’m no help, but I think you should get it anyway!
Hi Lilyjo! How are you and your family? I swear that I think of you each time I go shopping. So nice to talk to you! How did you like L”eau? Also, I know you have Souffle, which version and how do you like it?
We are doing fine, thanks! Looks like I have a few more weeks before I go back to work.
I smelled L’eau many years ago, and if I remember correctly, I found it powdery. It was just a quick sniff. Souffle is very nice, I would concider it a inoffensive work scent though. It does not smell like Shalimar at all. It’s slightly lemony, and fluffy vanilla. Cozy. Knowing what you wear, I would think L’eau is more your style than Souffle. Also the Souffle Intense is better than the original, more depth, more interesting. Check out BeautyNotes on you tube, she gives really good descriptions.
Thanks Lillyjo! I actually subscribe to her channel. I’ll have to look up her review.
Petunia,
I like regular Shalimar, but did not like the initial at all. I’m not sure if this helps much, sorry!
Thanks for sharing your opinion. I’m leaning towards no PI. It wasn’t on my radar until I heard it was an iris scent.
I’m always in the hunt for a great iris scent but particularly during spring!
Glad to see you here!
Nice to see you too Yasmina! I do miss everyone here and think of everyone often. Has anyone heard from ElisaP? I hope she’s doing well.
She posted a couple times this week. Unfortunately, work has been stressful.
I’ll bet. I’ve watched interviews of a few nurses in New York City on the news.
Crazy whiplash weather twins with you! I’ve considered getting samples of Shalimar Parfum Initial and Parfum Initial L’Eau, but I have not done so. Every so often, manufacturer samples show up at the discounters.
I feel sheepish not wearing an iris today since it’s one of my all-time favorite notes, but I’ll be doing a botanical survey in a sunny grassland today, on what’s supposed to be the hottest day of the week, so I’m in Neroli Portofino since it’ll go well with sunscreen and sweat. I’ll join you all later today in L’Attesa. Happy Friday!
Happy Friday! Your survey sounds like a lot of fun.
Being out in a warm sunny grassland sounds wonderful!
Ok I think we all want your job now 🙂
I am just a giant stressball today, so I skipped iris and went to incense. I’m currently wearing a labdanum and vanilla body oil and will top it off with something meditative in a little while.
Peace and health to all. Happy Friday!
I hope you can relax tomorrow!
I hope the incense works its magic and gentles your day!
Hope tomorrow is a better day!
sounds like the weekend can’t come soon enough for you.
Hope it gets better (with perfume of course)
Peace to you sistine.
hang in there, sistine! 😉 now I want to wear Tam Dao, that’s one of my faves for reducing my stressball-ness.
I hate the giant stress ball! I hope you can relieve it soon!
I hope things get less stressful for you.
Let me chime in with the good wishes! And enjoy wearing whatever you feel helps you survive the day – even though, strangely enough, if I had to choose a scent to calm me down and hold the demands of the world at some distance, it would probably have been ISM what I would have gone for 🙂 !
Wishing you peace and calm.

I had one of those days yesterday and was so relieved when bedtime came. Hang in there
Hope your day ended on a more positive note ???
Yuck on the whole giant stressball!
I hope the stress all shrunk or disappeared altogether!
Wearing L’Attesa, my favorite unreasonably priced iris.
It’s unreasonably wonderful, though, so it balances out!
Scent twins! I do like this one, but it’s feeling a little more elegant than I am feeling today. I don’t think I have an iris that cures crankiness.
I love that one! Introduced to me by PL67. Thought about a full bottle until they significantly raised the price ?
ha! “unreasonably priced” made me lol. 😀 If I had unlimited funds and space for perfume, several bottles from Masque Milano would join my perfume cupboard. L’Attesa and Luci ed Ombre are at the top of my list.
That made me giggle! Yeah, it’s serious money for a 35 ml bottle.
That’s so funny! We should do that for a CP someday. “Wear your favourite unreasonably priced perfume.” LOL! Lots of contenders!
Oh, I like that idea and already know which scent I would wear.
Happy Friday to all!
I’ve really grown to love iris, so this time it was making the choice that was difficult!
In the end – suspecting that quite a few of today’s participants would be wearing Iris Silver Mist and not wanting to go with the crowd – I decided on Santa Maria Novella’s Iris, which retains a good deal of the rootiness (which is actually one of the things I love iris for), but balances it with some green floralcy.
Nice choice for iris 🙂
You smell great, I smelled it in the 90’s and always remembered it as wonderful.
… somehow most of the SMNs are, aren’t they?
I have the soap – I should use it next!
Happy Friday. Hope you’re all doing well.
Spent most of my day in Miller Harris Terre d’Iris and now post shower I’m in my favourite fragrance with iris, L’Artisan’s Dzongkha.
Smelling great Bob, Dzongkha is so meditative.
Wow, I’m in good company today.
Happy iris day! A bit of music for our entertainment, one of Robin’s fave performers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecRhoySlOwQ
Wearing the powerful (on me) L’Attesa and gearing up for tonight’s frost advisory.
Go, Bob! such an unlikely and seemingly reluctant star. His hair is fantastic.
L’Attesa is glorious, one of my favorites from the Masque Milano sample set. 😀
You smell classy!
Thank you galbanumgirl!!
And another year goes by with no Bob Dylan emoji, what’s with that?
Twins with Robin this morning in Infusion d’Iris Absolue. I have a decant of this and how I wish I had a bottle! My favorite iris, and of course it’s discontinued now.
It’s supposed to be sunny and hot (88F) here today and I should fix the strawberry bed the dog dug up but I am not motivated to do that at all. I might take a walk and then a nap.
all the good ones get discontinued
perfect iris perfume choice, foxbins!
walk + nap = heaven. 😀
Hi twin!! you smell grand!
We do all smell pretty fantastic.
SotD = Hiris
This was my first truly iris-y iris perfume love. 😀 And the blue bottle makes me happy every time I look at it.
I have Prada Purple Rain and Infusion d’Iris EdT on my desk for iris top ups throughout the day.
It was fun to read everyone’s scent choices this week. Lots of new iris perfume lemmings on my list now, and more today I’m sure. You fragrance folks are wonderfully incorrigible enablers. 😀
You smell wonderful Tiffanie! Have a nice weekend ?
thank u, adanst! 😀 hope your weekend holds lots of smiles for you.
Chanel No 19 edp.
David Attenborough birthday – wow. Reading his „Adventures of a Young Naturalist” for some very enjoyable couch based travel.
I’m a fan of DA too, here in the UK he is a national treasure.
I think he is considered a worldwide treasure.
Hey Robin!Hi Twin?!
Off to an early start today in LeLabo Iris 39 body lotion and many sprays of Prada IdIAbsolute!
Boy does this feel good.
I am running errands for hummingbirds (it’s too cold I think but just in case) and purchasing nursery plants before we get…..yep you guessed it MORE RAIN!
Happy Friday and ‘whatweekendisitanyway’ to all.
I can’t wait to read all these comments above!
Buona giornata!
buona giornata anche a te!
Oh, I am not keen on iris, but LeLabo is a good one.
Supposedly hummingbirds are here and have been spotted but they haven’t yet been to my garden or my feeders. I’m hoping!
Nice scent Angela! Iris 39 is one of my favs. I wore it earlier this week.
I planted some thug for the hummingbirds last weekend. Love those little things! 🙂
I thought about so many iris perfumes for today. Splendiris, Bois d’Iris, Purple Rain, Infusion d’Homme, Iris Nazarena, Iris 39, Niral, Le Cri, Iris Shot but in the end I went with Iris des Champs from Houbigant.
I’m grateful to Undina for sharing a decant with me from her bottle! This perfume made my day today!
Forgot to mention I also showered with Neroli & Iris shower gel from Korres 😉
Do I get extra credit points?
Of course!
I always think of both you and Hajusuuri as two of the most Iris-oriented people on here.
Heh, you know us very well ?
It sounds like iris is your note!
How serendipitous! Today I’m wearing perfume, a sample of which I got from you 🙂
I forgot to say that my early morning shopping revealed hand disinfecting wipes!!! Limit two, but still. Also got Caramel Coconut, Tirumisu, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Oreos AND five pints of various Haagen Daz because ice cream is back in my local supermarket. In my defense, I did my early morning two mile walk in reduced time (30 minutes versus the original 40).
You’re the Oreos queen?
I blame everyone here for me seeking them out LOL ?. In actuality, they are all quite delicious. Lots of Oreo cookie enabler pins I need to hand out ( looking at you, pl67 ??)
No, no, no! Do not look at me! I don’t want to be responsible for any sugar crash you may have!
In fact, I am not a fan of Oreos, but so many different flavors made me very curious. I didn’t like the Caramel Coconut ones, but I like the Mint ones a lot. Count me however, as a big fan of Peeps! ??
Hee hee
Ok I won’t blame you ??
I am going to get the mint ones next because I saw them in the store ?
I need to try those Oreos. I have heard so much about them from all of you guys.
My favorite ice cream brand for the past couple of years has been Magnum and I especially like their double raspberry bars (covered in really good chocolate), so on a recent trip to the grocery store I bought 6 packs of those bars (3 per pack) and 4 pints of mint, salted caramel, pistachio and chocolate truffle ice cream. I may have finished all 4 pints in less than two weeks.
Oooo!! I love those Magnum bars! Thanks for reminding me ?
I have the non-dairy classic vanilla enrobed in Belgian chocolate bars sitting in the fridge. I’ll dip into the box this weekend!
Yup. Those raspberry bars are sooo good! Might have to pick some up tomorrow.
Oh the dark chocolate covered ones are my favorite!
I need to add them to my list.
I might have to break down and try those Tiramisu Oreos. Cookie enablers!
Yes
You
Do
?
I have been trying to find hand disinfecting wipes for my husband’s car, no luck — did you get them online?
Robin, I know you aren’t really going into stores, but I found the travel disinfectant wipe packets at rite aid and Walgreens. Both stores were keeping them behind the checkout counter.
Thank you lillyjo!
No they had them in the supermarket!!!!!!
Ah, thanks.
I think you walked faster to dive in to the goodies ???
You know me too well ?
SOTD = Hermes Musc Pallida
Iris! Your skin, but better!

Happy Mother’s Day in advance to those who don’t typically read / post on weekends.
Still doing the Rosary Brigade but may need to speak to the organizer privately because she’s gotten too partisan and this is not the place to be that regardless of how strong one’s views are. The good news is people we’ve been praying for have gotten better, but the bad news is some have died and the number of infected does not reduce despite those who have recovered.
I reminded Mr L of Mothers Day, he has been so busy. He said the kids will make me some baked goods
Oh nice… do tell when it happens!
I missed the other day.. where was the purple pouch background from?
She didn’t say ?
Prada Purple Rain ☺️
??
Eh, you did not miss it. I should update my IG post. And… the answer is … it’s a pouch for Prada Purple Rain!
It is such a pretty print. They should make a scarf out of it.
I wish I had that Hermes oil perfume but it’s so freakin expensive for 20 ml. I smelled it in Milan 2 years ago together with Cardamusc and both were gorgeous.
This one I had to think about for a number of months, waiting to sample before triggering the purchase. It is a nice one.
Maybe tell the organizer about the no politics rule at NST and how it works to foster inclusion?
I actually ended up texting the Viber group which is how we usually provide updates and just said to include both the Executive and Legislative branches of the government, plus all the governors. I added the name of someone she missed yesterday but instead of mentioning the names in the part I thought she would, she just mentioned the original name in the middle of a whole string of names…not really an appropriate place but I understand her sentiments and will leave it be, for now.
I would be afraid of God being angry with me, if I intentionally left someone out in my prayers. I’ve never been in a prayer group. I believe on the power of them though.
When I read this I thought you said that she had gotten to ‘Parisian’ and I had a giggle. I expected her perfume description to come next…
Best of Luck Hajusuuri, I am sure that it is frustrating, keep up the good work.
Thanks, problem solved for now.
Yikes, that’s a bummer with that Rosary Brigade situation. Hope that something can be worked out.
Thanks for the anniversary congrats!
I got it worked out…definitely more balanced but she slipped in the original name at a place that did not make sense to me, but eh.
You smelled great! I’m glad the situation is resolved. Keep the positive attitude.
I re-read my post from 2016 on the iris cp and feel the same way now as I did then: I love the irises that grow in my garden (just coming up now, nowhere near blooming) but iris as a fragrance note, not so much.
I planned on wearing AdP Iris Nobile edt from a sample today but was really hesitant to do so when I looked up the notes on Fragrantica, as it appeared to be mostly a white floral, my least/liked scent category, with that dreaded note of tuberose. Nonetheless, I was committed to trying it and was greatly relieved that what I mostly smell is orange blossom, haven’t smelled any iris note yet, and, luckily, no tuberose.
But it doesn’t suit the day here as it’s extremely cold for this time of year, with temps only in the mid-40’s, strong winds, and frost predicted tonight. So when the Iris Nobile wears off I’ll switch to YR Iris Noir; woody and powdery with that patchouli note I love, it’s one of the few Iris scents I enjoy.
It’s been a beautiful Spring week here. Is it because I’m even more focused these days on the healing power of nature or is Mother Nature (or Someone Up There?) purposefully helping us? All of our shrubs have had extended bloom – the bright yellow blossoms of my neighbor’s forsythia outside my kitchen window have survived wind, heavy rain, even snow for weeks now and still brighten my kitchen hours, and the incredibly fragrant Korean Spice Viburnum blossoms in my backyard scent the air outside – and inside – my home and make me swoon. This week my wrens have returned and sing merrily all day as they build their nests, and the orioles in their striking orange and black garments love the grape jelly and oranges we’ve put out for them. My library has increased its virtual programs as has my yoga teacher, and even more of my favorite area musicians are now live-streaming. All of these have increased my ability to connect with those I dearly miss and I am grateful.
I’m hoping that all of you find a way to connect with something or someone that brings peace and even a bit of joy to brighten your weekend. Stay safe.
And Happy Birthday to your sister, Robin.
How wonderfully positive you are here despite the late spring. Your descriptions of flowers and birds are so vivid! I do envy you the orioles. Such gorgeous birds.
Oh, I have moments when I’m crabby, frustrated, depressed or angry and I recognize the importance of acknowledging those emotions. But I gain perspective and count my blessings when I see the difficulties faced by so many people, those working on the front lines, be they medical staff or grocery clerks, those who’ve lost jobs and don’t have food, and those who’ be lost loved ones or those who themselves are battling this disease.
I always love reading your posts Laila. So thoughtful and contemplative
Perhaps because the community project is on Fridays at weekdays’ end, when I begin to think about which scent I will wear that day I also begin to contemplate how my week has gone and the two thoughts seem to run side by side in my head.
Having an aggravating day— but dropping in to play the CP. In Dzongkha!
Hope your day gets better
Wishing you a calm evening!
Hiya scent twin! I hope that your day has improved!
It seems like something was in the air today. Hopefully, the weekend will be better.
SOTD is Iris Homme by Parfum Satori.Nice scent, although I have difficulty discerning the difference between the iris and violet notes
I have not smelled that one, but I’m sure you smell great!
Byredo Gypsy Water because someone wore it this week. It’s lovely – easy to wear, reminds me in style of Ormonde Jayne stuff. (Prive, maybe?).
Happy Friday!
I love Gypsy Water – I always drain my samples of it. Thinking about the hair mist, since that runs under $100.
You smell great!
Thanks! It must have been you wearing it earlier this week, then? I do like the name although if I think harder about it, it feels like bad cultural appropriation. But still – smells good!
I thought I had no iris, since I don’t own any FB of iris-centric scents. But then I remembered I had a sample pack from Papillon, so I’m wearing their Angelique, which is iris-y. It’s not a bad scent, but it feels like I’m wearing a room scent, and more specifically, a store scent. I could imagine walking into a Pier 1 Imports or other mall store, and having the air smell this way. I’ll use up my 1mL sample, but will not be purchasing this one.
I don’t usually mind the idea of wearing a room scent, but yeah, don’t want to smell like pier 1.
I just ate 4 tiramisu Oreos. Enabler pin pl67! Bonus.. my kids don’t like them!
Sotd is Iris Nazarena. This is a beauty, but I’m starting to accept it doesn’t suit me. It might end up for swap. My Governor extended stay at home until the 28th.
Happy Birthday to your sistet, Robin!
Glad your kids didn’t like it! Money saved! ?
And more for me!
Ha!! Pl67 gets loads of enabler pins from me too! My kids loved those Oreos. We finished the package in less than two days. I just bought another one ?
My kids are just so picky. They just like the regular ones.
Sounds like Mr Marzipan….he always complains when I get the “exotic” flavors…..with everything!
You smell wonderful! So sad they discontinued the perfume line!
I know! There were many more I wanted to try.
I’m sorry that IN isn’t for you but I think you smell beautiful!
Thanks! It is lovely.
LOL on your kids hating the Tiramisu Oreos! Although I think that Mr. Jalapeno is the same way. He discovered my stash of the Dark Chocolate Oreos recently, and lost interest them them when I said that they weren’t the original Oreos.
Your husband sounds like mine ?
Anything that isn’t the original he calls “exotic” and won’t eat. Even ice cream has to be plain chocolate.
My husband is the same with ice cream. It’s either plain chocolate or coffee.
??
Mr. Jalapeno usually has a rather adventurous palate. But there are a few things that I am all about the stripped down, plain Jane version too. So I get it.
Also, should be “in them” up there, not “them them”!
I haven’t yet seen the Tiramisu Oreos!
What?? I actually have access to something that you don’t?
So much for that…losing track of days. Went for a nice walk yesterday and some time reading by the river. Then stopped to buy some lilacs.
No CP points for me. Lemon/coconut body lotion followed by Selvo do Brasil. More of a citrus week for me.
Three loads of laundry to do….
Reading by a river sounds perfect. If it ever gets warm here I would do that
I’m CP compliant in St. Clair Scents Eve. Golly this perfume is GORGEOUS. I tried it before and was not that impressed, but upon giving it a second go, I’m bowled over. My only plan for today after a Zoom family meeting with the director of Mom’s assisted living center is to go to Petco because I’m almost out of canned food. I get deliveries from Chewy but their shipping is a bit irregular right now. It will be life or death for me here if I don’t have canned food in the morning! I also must replenish my supply of bird seed for the feathered visitors to my feeder. So far they’re doves, bluejays, and an occasional bright cardinal.
I got the sampler of Eve and Pandora from Diane when she first released them. I was blown away. Her perfumes really resonate with me and I have been a fan of the house since her original releases. I think she’s an extraordinaryly talented indie perfumer.
Did you have a preference? I prefer Eve. It’s somehow brighter and rounder. I also want to order her new ones. They sound fantastic!
I couldn’t decide. I love them both ?
I think Chewy, like everyone else, is experiencing shipping delays due to the extra high volume of online orders these days. My Chewy order of more than a week ago was just shipped whereas they used to arrive almost overnight. Enjoy those birdies! We have all those, too, and lots of migrating warblers I can hear but not see!
Chewy definitely is dealing with a higher volume of orders right now. They have emailed me about it the last couple of times I ordered something from them.
I ordered 2 free samples from L’ Artisan, you just pay for shipping but you get this back if you purchase a full bottle. Timbuktu on one arm and Passage D’ Enfer on the other. Passage D’ Enfer is winning. It is a quiet incense, not one of those nostril hair burning, acrid ones. It is also a really good frankincense perfume. I have diffused frankincense and myrrh essential oils daily since quarantine began, it is the smell of comfort for me. Passage D’ Enfer is not hugely projecting and that is okay. It is really the smell of contemplation and I see a bottle in my future. I will join you all in the Iris CP a bit later today and wear some Dior Homme. Be safe and well.
Those are two beautiful oils to be diffusing. You can wear them as well for comfort.
I put a tiny drop of both oils right under my nose and sometimes a little on my temples. They are lovely to wear and very calming.
???
Free samples? Are they spray ones?
Yes they are spray and you do pay for shipping and I think they are out of the new fig one. They came fast by FedEx!
Prada Infusion d’Iris Cedre today. I will likely layer on something else in a bit.
This is what a nerd I am: I created a Google form for entering my sniffing notes easily on my iPhone (since typing directly into spreadsheet on phone is annoying). Just having a spreadsheet for this is something I worked only admit to here, since I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Now if I was super super nerdy I would build my own app. But I have too many other projects and hobbies. Phew.
I would download that app
Wearing L’Attesa from a sample today. I have just a couple of drops left. I really like it, which is surprising to me since I struggle with iris quite a bit. This one is, however, under consideration for a FB.
Wishing all of you a nice weekend!
Happy Birthday to your sister, Robin.
L’Attessa is getting lots of love today. 😀
I finally wore a sample of Iris Poudre, that a sales assistant at FM in Munich have me. I would have preferred Pol or Carnal Flower, but they seldom give out samples. For a iris scent it’s quite nice, but much too elegant for me. The only iris I really love is Felanilla, but it was too warm for it. At least the sample got worn.
I don’t understand stores that don’t give out in person samples! It seems like pretty self defeating not to
No iris for me today – I went with my public speaking power perfume Chanel Chance.
The (academic) talk I was scheduled pre Covid to give in person was converted into a Zoom one. While it felt strange not to have the instant body language feedback, it wasn’t too hard to do. And it was great not to have to get on a tiring flight, etc to get to the talk venue. What can’t be recreated is all the social stuff (and yummy lunch or dinner) that would have normally accompanied the talk. But I’m glad at least my carbon footprint was low.
The snow others are experiencing is coming my way. WTF.
What’s also coming my way is my travel spray of Incense Pur and a decant of Carnal Flower. My discretionary spending for April was literally 99 cents so I decided I can “splurge” for mother’s day gift to self.
You smell great, I like the flankers to Chance as well
So glad it went well, even if not quite the same!
How fun that you have stuff coming in the mail!
I hesitated as I had not worn No 19, Hiris, VC&A Bois d’Iris, TdG Ombre Mercure or even Traverses du Bosphore and it’s cousin Skin on Skin but I chose Houbigant Essence Rare (new version) with its perfectly balanced floral and powdery iris playing with lotv and other notes in this wonderful scent.
oh my! Essence Rare sounds divine. Hope you are enjoying every moment. 😀
Tiffanie, it was my most loved discovery of 2019, anyone who enjoys Jean-Claude Ellena as a perfumer will love ER.
i’m definitely a Jean-Claude Ellena fan! thank you for the tip. My sample list is getting longer and longer . . . 😀
I agree: it’s an interesting perfume. You smelled wonderful.
Thank you Undina and I can still smell it today, quite a powerhouse.
Thanks for the anniversary congratulations Aurora!
I was thinking of picking up my bottle of Andy Tauer’s Dark Passage, but that’s more of a patch perfume, or April Aromatics Irisistible which I thought was too sunny for today’s weather, on an overcast and polar vortex encroachment day. I finally settled on all natural Il Giglio di Firenze by AbdesSalaam Attar Perfumes, which is as iris centric as it gets (“main ingredients are Iris, concrete and absolute, Ambergris tincture, Mimosa, Frangipani”). I only have a tiny bottle of this el expensivo item, but I’m glad I get to luxuriate in its floral opening and glorious drydown with very silvery iris and authentic ambergris.
I have to say I was excited to try this house because the perfumer seems really nice and I like his brand story, but the few things I sniffed didn’t wow me. But I’m glad they are working for you!
Oh, I bet that is gorgeous!
That sounds AMAZING
Iris/Orris is one of my favorite notes in perfume, the other being Vanilla.I was spoilt for choice for todays’ CP,has I have a substantial Iris count in my collection.I was going to wear ISM but couldn’t find it!
SOTD!28 la Pausa,in original edt.You like,Perfumelover67?Hehe!
Happy Friday friends!
Standby weekend for me,this week was our first attempt at “normal operations under abnormal circumstances”,it was tough and weird. We laughed and cried, but we made it work!
XO
Yay! Nice to see you here
?
And of course you smell wonderful
Thank you friend!Nice to come and say hallo!??
Hope launch back into “normal” is as painless as possible. We are also headed back to normal, while covid cases in the state continue to increase…?
Are you required to mask at all times while on site?
Yes,our SOP’s require being masked all the time, everywhere. But it is law now for every cititzen to wear a mask when they are out running errands as well, which is a good thing.
We are now at Level 4 Lockdown, down from the highest level 5.
Our hospital is one of many that decided that Covid-19 pre-testing before surgery is not compulsory, but we treat every patient as potential positive.
We have more than enough PPE,so we’re all good,I think!
Are you going back to work anytime soon?
You are wearing my #1 favorite iris scent Johanob! You smell amazing! ❤❤❤❤.
Hope you have a wonderful and peaceful weekend. You deserve it! Stay safe my friend! ?
Haha!I know your love for 28LP all too well!Hehe!
Thank you M,happy weekend to you!
XO
? and I love 28 La Pausa EDT
a bit of beauty in this crazy ugly time…??
You smell great!
Thanks KellyC,you should say Hi on Insta some time!??
La Pausa is so good! So is ISM for that matter?
Hope you have a quiet, uneventful weekend at work.
They are in my Top 10 Iris perfumes, absolutely!
Happy Weekend Gail!
??
For today’s CP, Mon Ame by 1907 from a sample from my perfumista friend. I really like it. Unfortunately, It seems not to be available from any sellers in the US.
I’m frustrated with my work: I have to get a consensus from a group of 4-5 “stakeholders,“ and it seems that I’m not capable to explain the task to the group. I know that these aren’t the sharpest tools, so to speak, and I realize that I shouldn’t have expected from this group much (based on the past experience), but I was so hopeful that documents I prepared, an hour-long phone explanation meeting and additional instructions I sent over would make a difference this time. Nope. Well, I can only hope that they are better at their regular jobs than at prioritizing mine…
Since I can’t have a drink now, I probably need more perfume now 🙂
Sorry for the frustration, Undina!
Thank you, Robin. To compensate myself, I took a day off this Monday.
I hate that! The worst is if someone demands more explanation but doesn’t really use that additional info in considering what they are being asked to consider.
We do not work with the same people, do we? 😉
Joking aside, since most of the people I’m complaining about are not fro my state even, for all I know, they might be working with you 🙂
Oh, I feel your pain. It’s very frustrating dealing with stakeholders who have have “slow processors”, as I like to phrase it.
I like your definition:) I might borrow it 🙂
You smell great and if you need more Mon Ame, let me know 🙂
Sorry for the work stress, you deserve a rest!
My friends, I’ve missed interacting with you this week. I will try to be more engaged on the Lazy Weekend Poll.
Today Seattle is starting a few day heat wave. We’ve got a high of 78 today, so I went with Iris Ukiyoe. Usually I find these kinds of simple, pretty florals to be too boring, but this one works for me. Yesterday, I gave Oriental Express its first full wear (thanks, hajusuuri!) and thought it was great, although probably better suited to a cooler day. Wednesday was spent in Iris Nazarena and then Hendley Blond.
Can’t wait to sleep in tomorrow! I’ve slept pretty poorly the last couple nights.
Hope you have a good sleep!
Hope you get some good sleep!
Another hot one today, mid90s. I am not really in the mood for iris and it isn’t one I wear in the heat.
Craving citrus of all things and happened to come across my sample of Memo Moon Fever:).
I thought I smelled bergamot but maybe the sweetness is throwin me off a bit and I keep thinkin I am smelling a cool vanilla…perhaps it’s tonka..idk. But I love the woods in this. A light musk that isn’t too bothersome I suppose.
Memo is winning me over in a big way. ?
Hair salons are opening up soon and I sure could use to get my roots done. I hope to smell developer accords before too long lol.
P.S. Moon Fever performed very well in high heat..92 or so. Dry heat. Hard to find any scents that are comfortable in heat. So, good to know:).
Wow, I’ve never heard of Moon Fever. As to hair salons, as much as I am sorely in need of hair shaping, I will continue to skip it for a good long while.
I never thought I liked iris, but a quick survey of some of my favorite scents includes Hiris and Chanel No. 19. Today I am in the best of the iris crowd–Regime des Fleurs Dove Grey. Icy, but sexy as hell…..
Just got off the phone with my little sister–we live near each other and spend lots of time together so it has been hard to keep isolated. So special Happy Birthday to Robin’s little sis….we love our sisters.
Be well everyone and have a lovely Mother’s Day Weekend.
ps–Happy Anniversary Jalapeno–I missed it yesterday.
Thank you jepster!
Happy birthday to your sis!
Oops misread that haha! Happy birthday to Robin’s sis! 😀
Wearing my all time favorite iris which is of course Iris Ganache.
My brother’s girlfriend just had a stroke this morning. She’s a day older than me. She had been working out and was on the phone with her sister and then she was asking why she was wet and then wanted to know why there were balloons in the house. She didn’t remember that my brother’s birthday was a couple of days ago. My brother got her to the hospital. He was surprised when I said that strokes in people in their 40s and 50s could be a sign of covid 19. I feel so helpless
How worrying, sending virtual hugs and the good thing is your brother got her to the hospital early, so crucial for a stroke.
So sorry to hear this, hope she recovers fully.
Oh no! Hugs, thegoddessrena. That’s a scary situation.
I just talked to her and it wasn’t bad enough that she needed to stay in the hospital and is now home. Just told to take baby aspirin and go see a neurologist.
I hope she will be ok!
Hope she is doing OK!Keep us posted!Every day there are new connections to Covid-19,it’s a scary time to be sick at all now!
Sending love!??❤️
Wow, that’s it? Seconding johanob, please keep us posted!
Glad to hear the stroke wasn’t so serious. I hope she recovers fully soon.
Oh, how scary for everyone. I hope the initial findings continue to be positive and all turns out ok.
That is so scary. I wish her the best!
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. Praying for her recovery.
So glad she got taken in to the hospital soon!!! Massive props to your fam for being on it. Hope she recovers smoothly and completely! But yeah that must have been so stressful for you guys!
Hurray for Friday, but a big fat raspberry for the yucky weather today. I keep telling myself it isn’t hail or snow… ☃ I am so glad I turned the heat back on last night!
SOTD = L’Artisan Parfumeur Dzongkha, from the sample stash. My first time trying it, and I am finding it a challenging perfume to wear. I get a lot of soapy notes up front with this one, and soapy notes are not my favorite.
I tried Dzongkha many years ago and I had the same soapy experience. Besides it smelled very masculine on me. I may try it again in the future to see if my nose has changed, but I am not so hopeful about it.
The soapy notes do fade, but they take their sweet time leaving for me. I will retry this at a later time, and in different weather. Maybe today just wasn’t quite right. I don’t find Dzongkha masculine or feminine, though.
I think you smell great Jalapeno and happy belated anniversary! I hope that you and Mr. Jalapeno are well!
Thank you Petunia! I am really happy to see you posting! Mr. Jalapeno and I are doing all right. We’ve gotten on each other’s nerves a few times during lockdown, but that’s to be expected. So hard not to go stir crazy!
Great scent! I have a bottle of Dzongkha which I should revisit. 😉
The drydown is lovely.
I’ve yet to turn my heat off. I turned it back up to 68 tonight though as it will be in the twenties by morning.
Soapy notes are hard for me too.
I’ve been on a temperature roller coaster in the past couple of weeks… gone from mid 70’s to the 40’s! I’ve had both the A/C and the heat on this week. Truly weird.
I haven’t turned off the heat at all…and it will be brrrr tonight / tomorrow morning, but I will be toasty.
Still haven’t tried that one. Hope the weather gets better for you!
Ending the evening in Iris Ganache.
Nice!
And for those interested, I present my no-bake microwaved bread pudding:

In other news, I also managed to make Pasta Carbonara by substituting every ingredient, except for the egg (but I also used the yolk, why waste it). No IG post yet.
So, how did your creations taste?
Both were ??
Mercy! Chocolate with bread pudding? Yes please:). Feel free to share the recipe lol.
The recipe is in the IG post ?
Loved the bread pudding post!
Oh I saw that and it looks insanely good!!
Misia! I love iris & in my opinion Chanel does it fabulously and if you smell hard enough it makes at least an appearance in almost everything they do.
Gorgeous day today, I couldn’t really concentrate on work today, kept looking out the window and wandering out to my deck.
I’ve finally got my bike tires inflated again. What a wonderful thing it has been to ride around. I’ve really gotten tired of my neighborhood these last 2 months and it was so exhilarating to ride around. So fast! My eyes got to see new things!
I wish I had a bike but I don’t need yet another thing right now. How far away did you venture out?
Glad you enjoyed your time riding around!
Wearing Hermes Hiris. During the day, I felt it was not the right mood as I find it a bit sad, the day was too cold and drizzly, and I was doing an exercise class on Zoom that called for something warmer and more energetic. Now that night has fallen, it’s just right.
What class did you take?
Also curious!
Good evening! Bedtime scent last night (after midnight) was Hermessence Iris Ukiyoe. I liked it. I’ll have to find out how available and expensive a larger amount than a sample would be. (lol)
This evening: Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist. I’m close to finishing the sample. I like this one, too.
Pretty sure that all the Hermessences come in travel sprays! ?
Thanks for the enabling, Jalapeno! 😉
This weather is *so* weird. Yesterday I was out doing yard work all afternoon, and was very comfortable in a lightweight T-shirt when I was working actively and out in the sun. Of course, I don’t think of sunscreen unless I’m by a pool or the ocean, so the top of my head, where my hair is thin, is a little sunburned.
Today I was scurrying around doing some shopping in a light rain. My trip to the dollar store was very successful. I needed to get a Mother’s Day card and a card for my brother’s birthday, and also found some useful food and household items we’ve been looking for.
My trip to a nearby Indian grocery was quite successful, too. Last week I found that that grocery has very lovely fruits and vegetables, and that they sold cloth masks at the checkout. This week I mainly went for the fruits and vegetables, although I picked up a mango drink, too. 🙂 Last week I got a bottle of lychee drink, in addition to fresh herbs and the main ingredients for some vegetable-based recipes — oh, and mango ice cream. 😀
I got jasmines and scented geraniums from Logee’s, and a pot of basil locally. I planted the jasmines and geraniums in pots, and I’ve been bringing all those tender plants in and out of the house as the weather changes. They’ll be in the house for the weekend, it looks like. I’ll put them out again when the temperature goes above 50 degrees F.
Noting that I wouldn’t have put sunscreen on the top of my head, but that I should have worn a cap of some sort. My nose and cheeks are a little reddened from sunburn, and my arms got enough color that I can easily distinguish the still pale area where my wristwatch was. Next time we have a warm sunny day and I’m able to do yard work, I’ll try to remember a protective head covering and sunscreen.
And belated happy anniversary! I’ve been looking at Robin’s original posts on NST every other day or so this past week, but not reading much of the comments. But I’ve enjoyed the pretty pictures of camellias and irises. 🙂
I’m afraid not :-/ I have Cuir d ‘Ange and Iris Ukyie on my list and they are not available to select in the 4/8 travel sets… But most others are
Thank you for the information, ka_rina. 🙂 This is definitely a “keeping the information in mind for a later time” situation for me.
I think you can only buy in sets of 4 or 8. Split, set coming up but I will not offer it, like I usually do, because I like to buy the sets in person and this puppy isn’t going anywhere for pleasure shopping.
I mean SplitMeet,
No, you definitely shouldn’t be going out just for pleasure shopping! You’ve posted about living in northern New Jersey, near New York City. No going out unnecessarily for you. That’s just sensible.
Also, I dare not get perfume by mail, because my mother said she’d have to kill me if I got perfume during this time. I’ve ordered books, which she’s not terribly pleased about, but she can understand that. I’ve ordered the flowering plants and herbs I like to have in the spring and summer, which she knows is a thing I do every year this time of year.
That first paragraph was written in a “Be as safe as you can be” tone. We care, and we don’t want you to get sick! I hope it didn’t sound scolding. I was in full agreement with your decision.
I don’t remember what county you’re in, and you don’t need to say it here. I’ve mentioned at times that Mom and Dad are familiar with the New York City area and that Dad is especially familiar with northern New Jersey, as he grew up in north-central New Jersey.
When the news a few weeks ago had a teaser about which county in New Jersey was hardest hit by the pandemic, they both said, “Bergen” at the same time. For some years, Dad commuted from Rockland County, NY, to New York City for work. We moved to Pennsylvania when I was eight, so I’m not up on the times and distances for driving around Rockland and Westchester counties and the counties of northern New Jersey. They have a good idea about that still. Also, Dad seems to remember his daily life and the events of forty to sixty-odd years ago more clearly than he now registers the events of the previous week or month, but that’s another story…
Mom, who likes print books, has been reduced to reading on my Kindle Paperwhite. I’d been diligently getting historical and light contemporary romance e-books when they were offered free for several years, partly in case she decided to read e-books. And I’ve been getting free cozy mystery e-books for Mom and Dad for years for the same reason. Dad did pick up the habit of reading on an e-reader over the past few years, so he’s been reading the mystery and science fiction e-books I get anyway. He often gets to the science fiction before I do.
Currently, Dad and I do “family share” with Kindle books and he’s complained about the “naked man chest” romance e-book covers that show up on his Kindle from time to time. (LOL!) I learned how to do the “do not share” feature to block those covers from his sight and keep them off his Kindle.
Mom and I (especially I) still have our share of print romances of all sorts around the house, but Mom has been concentrating on the cozy mystery e-books Dad borrows from the local library system for her.
This is why Mom can understand why I’ve gotten some secondhand print books that aren’t available as e-books by mail. We’re sad that our local library system closed in mid-March and is closed until further notice, but the branch near us was a particularly busy one, and I don’t know how they’d keep that many people at a distance from each other with how crowded the library normally is.
Iris Nobile today. Was planning on No. 19 but for whatever reason Iris Nobile just called my name so I went with it.
A nice relaxing day today. Got a little housework done, did some troubleshooting on the sprinkler system and enjoyed my patio. Just the kinda day I needed. Happy Friday, you good smelling folks!
You smelled wonderful!!Enjoy the patio,I am out on the balcony as much as possible myself!❤️??
