It's Tuesday and Loretta Lynn's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: still rummaging around in the Hermès drawer. Today I'm in Eau de Pamplemousse Rose layered with Terre d’Hermès. Tea at the moment is Numi Chinese Breakfast with quite a bit of cardamom.
(And an update: I almost forgot about the swapmeet. We'll obviously need to put it off again; maybe we'll try in May?)
Reminder: on 4/17, we're doing edition 5 of the Picture Challenge. Wear a perfume that matches the picture, which is Three Dancers, Mills College, 1930, by photographer Imogen Cunningham. More reading here, or listen to a brief interview on Cunningham here.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Portmeirion parrot tulip teapot ("In celebration of Portmeirion's 50th Anniversary in 2010, Portmeirion have produced the Portmeirion Originals collection inspired by Susan Williams-Ellis's iconic archive designs. This Botanic Garden Teapot features the Botanic Garden Pink Parrot Tulip motif designed especially for Portmeirion's 50th Anniversary.") is £66 at Portmeirion in the UK.
Showered with Fresh Fig Apricot soap, moisturized with Korres Guanabana lotion, and topped it all off with Arielle Shoshana Saturday. I smell like a very fancy fruit salad. (Hilariously, this combo garnered the rare husband compliment.) And now I’m burning a fig candle because go big or …. well, stay home. ?
?
LOL! You smell incredibly tropical! Go big or…. go to Hawaii! ??????
you must smell very very good!
guanabana is my new favorite word. 😀
gua-NA-bana
GUA-na-bana
gua-na-BANA
no matter how I say it, I love it!
The only real way to say it is to the tune of the muppets’ manamana song!
? love it!
I must agree.??
I’m wearing Estée Lauder’s White Linen.
Perfect for this cold but sunny day here in Denmark.
You smell wonderful! I have really been enjoying White Linen lately, and shaking my head at the me of 10 years ago who foolishly wrote it off as mainstream/boring.
EL does have some good ones.
Yes EL is my recent discovery also, I always passed up on that house.
White Linen is truly a hidden gem, just like the other classics from EL.
I haven’t really connected that much with many of the new releases, as I find them too…meh…for me.
But oh, that classics are beautiful. I know many write them off as “granma scents” but I find that offensive.
White Linen is amazing. For me it also ties into the CP as I wore it in 1982 when I was with Boston Ballet Company in their summer intern program. Best summer of my life…Boston rocks!!!!
EL scents are so elegant, well several are anyway. The Pleasures flankers got pretty ridiculous. But I guess I like me some “grandma” scents:). I usually get excited when I hear someone say a fume is “grandma”..like ok, this has a chance of being good then lol. They can have their VS Obnoxiously Floozy Bombshell Angel Cake..I will enjoy grandma:).
I totally agree, Omega.
I would rather smell like a rich old lady, than a Obnoxiously Floozy Bombshell Angel Cake.
The original Pleasures is still a glorious summer scent, but all those flankers is just a waste of time.
Estée, Knowing, Cinnabar, Aliage, Azuree, Beautiful, Private Collection and Youth-Dew is all perfumes that makes me smile and appreciate.
“I usually get excited when I hear someone say a fume is “grandma”..like ok, this has a chance of being good then lol.”
Exactly so, Omega!
So cold today! It was snowing a couple of hours ago. We had a very warm day yesterday, and then I woke up in the middle of the night shaking from cold. Even the second blanket did not help. Fortunately, my faithful kitty came to my rescue and stayed by my side to keep us both warm. ?
Anyway, I obviously needed a cold-weather scent. I went with Mugler Angel Muse, a boozy sweet patchouli. Yum.
Yep, you smell just right for a snowstorm!
Nothing cozier (than a cat and Angel Muse)
Thank goodness you have that kitty!
There’s nothing like a furry hot water bottle. 🙂 Stay warm!
Glad your sweet kitty helped out and kept you warm 🙂
Now I am embarrassed because it was “just” 60 yesterday morning and I felt really cold! Well, it was cold after days in the low 90’s!
A sudden drop by 30 degrees is cold, so don’t be embarrassed. In my case, the temperature went from about 70 F to 40 F (might have been 30-35 in the night), so it is a 30-degree drop too. 🙂
Yay for a warm kitty snuggle! ?
I’m wearing Patchouli Patch. I’m trying to wear L’Artisan fragrances that I wear very rarely. I avoid this one because one of my staff dislikes patchouli. Luckily, she is off this week, so I sprayed to my heart’s content.
Yay for silver linings 🙂
How does it compare to other Patchouli scents? Any thoughts?
Happy Birthday Loretta. I’m not really a listener of country music, but we did recently watch Ken Burns’ Country Music documentary on PBS which featured Loretta in parts. I remember Oakland Fresca talking about how good this series was, and I totally agree. It hooked me in immediately, the backstories were just fascinating.
I think I’ll go with Coromandel today.
Also, I heard a really dumb joke yesterday. What’s the difference between jam and jelly?
I’ll bite – I don’t know? What’s the difference?
You can’t…pump up the jelly.? I warned you, but I laughed anyway.
That was really funny. I loved that song when it came out (I was in middle school!).
?? Oh, dear…
I still like the song, Pump Up the Jam! Lol..get your bootay on the floor tonight..make my day..may may may make my day:). Yo! Trip on this. I have been indoors too long, can anyone tell? Lol
Oh gosh. I should’ve seen it coming.
?i love this!
I feel like I should know the answer, but I don’t. What is the difference?
Aww, lillyjo, I was counting on you!? see above☝️
Man, I suck, LOL! I knew the jam was my clue, just couldn’t put the pieces together. ??
But now you have today’s ear worm. (You’re welcome)???
https://youtu.be/9EcjWd-O4jI
????
Oh that song takes me way back to my dancing days!
Here’s a another that might be familiar:
https://youtu.be/XALHeqz_59M
There was a CD I listened to ALL THE TIME whenever I went biking because it was such good music to dance and workout to; Rave ‘TIL Dawn! I miss that music and the spot I was at in life at that time…
???
Yes! I remember that one too! ‘92, sigh, I graduated from college that May and the world was my oyster.?
That’s a great series. I watched it twice and would happily watch it again.
Hope Coromandel hits the spot.
Twice! Wow, now that’s commitment because those episodes were long!
Coromandel always hits the spot. I’ve only tried 6 of the Exclusifs, but this is the most stunning of them all.
That Country Music documentary was well worth watching. I was surprised at how much of the older music was familiar to me. Must have been because that was the stuff my dad listened to.
My morning started out with one of my mugs from Capri smashing into the floor. My crazy monkey asked to drink out of it, and I let her knowing the risk. Ah, a lesson on impermanence. Now I am down to one.
Tea this morning for everyone is Vanilla Orchid from David’s tea.
SOTD is Shalimar powder
The sun is out, going to try to get some vitamin D
Sun here too. We will be going out for a walk with the dog. So sorry about your Capri mug, but you are right about impermanence.
So sorry about the mug ltsg!
Found a book I want to read, and thought immediately of you. Have you read, The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker? The Guardian’s review is here: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/aug/22/silence-of-the-girls-pat-barker-book-review-iliad
Yes, I did read it
Wow, is it possible you know me that well ??
So, are you going to dive in to this book?
Circe arrived today, in paperback. I think I ordered it over a year ago. . . possibly even before I read Song? Anyway, the reviews of the book sent me down the rabbit hole of fictional writing depicting ancient Greece. . .
What was your feeling about Silence? Is Barker worthy of following in Renault’s footsteps?
Hmmm…well when I read Song of Achilles I fell in love with Achilles. So much so, my greek friend bought me this beautiful vase handmade in Greece, one side has ships and she said to me “like the ships sailing to Troy, since you are so in love with Achilles”
When I read Silence, that is when I fell out of love with Achilles! I enjoyed the book, and I think you should read it.
Hmmm..Renault..I think as far as historical fiction goes those are some big shoes to fill. Renault’s books touched me deeply. If the library was open I would be sniffing around to find another book of hers to read.
Woke up in Coromandel and did a phone session with my doctor. Now listening to my dogs rough house. No stimulus check yet to pay that monster cell phone bill and get a new bottle of perfume yet. I heard back from Luckyscent about URV. They told me that it is temporarily out of production and Andy is focusing on other perfumes, maybe winter, it will be back in production. I think post shower i will be wearing URV.
Did you decide on which perfume?
Haven’t made a decision yet. Seems like the consensus from everyone a few days ago was going towards a Tauer perfume. Chanel is a huge company that really doesn’t need my money but Tauer Perfumes is a smaller company that would need my cash more.
Hooray that URV is NOT d/c. It ‘s so beautiful!
Andy is always so delightful and his scents are amazing. I don’t love everything, but I must have at least half of his collection.
Thanks for the update on URV! If I could afford it, I’d be getting a bottle of Le Maroc Pour Elle from Tauer.
Vintage Bal a Versailles
20 sprays
Thank you PL67!!
It definitely ties into the CP. When I was 17 my mom (who worked for a textile company in the garment district in Manhattan) was given a bottle of Bal by her boss who brought it back from Paris. She didn’t like it so she gave it to me. I loved it because it reminded me of a fellow ballet dancer who reeked of cigarette smoke, mint gum and Bal a Versailles ( her signature scent). She was older than I and so beautiful and exotic.
We both wore Bal in ballet classes in Manhattan and she never complained that I was wearing her scent. Let me tell you, it bloomed beautifully on a sweaty ballerina.
I am going to wear BaV all week!!
Wow!!!20 sprays!!!!! ? Enjoy!!! ?
It is gorgeous!!!! and it is bringing back such fond memories for me from the early 80s… thank you for sharing, my friend!
?
What a great scent memory!
🙂
Great story! Apparently Diaghilev selected a signature scent for all his star ballerinas.
Yes!
I love vintage BaV and wear it quite often. The modern version is a disgrace to the original.
I know you are a huge fan ?
Was thinking of you too when I doused myself ?
You smell amazing!!!
When I was a girl I took ballet classes as well. But i dont have very interesting scent memories like you..
Though that smell of wooden floors, sweat and deodorant is quite unique ?
Wood floors, sweat, rosin and whatever perfumes we were all wearing!! All of my dancer friends were into perfume! Any fragrances that we wore in the 70s and 80s would qualify for me for this CP!
???
I was still in elementary school.
No perfume yet for me or my fellow ‘students’ ?
(though at home I sometimes was allowed a spritz from one of my mothers bottles)
My scent-memory of ballet class is wood and elastic — I guess all that nylon had a sillage of its own!
Yeah those clothes have a particular smell. The shoes as well. Something about the soles i guess…
Soft slippers smelled of suede. Hard toeshoes of rosin.
Yes!
I have a partial bottle of the cologne, and I treasure it. You smell fabulous!
Thank you!
You smell great and I loved reading your post 🙂
?♥️?
Wow, you wore some serious heavy hitters back in the day!
Wearing copious amounts of Hermès Brin de Reglise. Never get tired of it!
Beautiful sunny day today after a crazy stormy weather yesterday. Getting ready to take a walk outside soon and enjoy the Cherry Blossom trees that are in full bloom now. ???
Happy Tuesday everyone!
On paper, I didn’t think I would like Brin de Reglise. I got a sample this winter though, and wow, it’s beautiful. One of those perfumes where you keep smelling your wrists.
You need to get your nose on Reglisse Noire!!!!
Agree! It is so beautiful! I am about to finish my travel size, but is full bottle worthy. Some day…
Same, lilyjo.
I LOVE this fragrance!!! But it lasts a nano second on my scent devouring skin 🙁
That’s why I have to spray lavishly. After 4 hours I can still smell it.
🙂
Aha, maybe I will wear that tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s twin then! ?
Happy Tuesday!
Happy Tuesday to you too my friend! ?
Hermessence twins 🙂 I’m in Vetiver Tonka today. Or at least, I was; now I am in the ghost of VT.
You smell great!
Lucky you, being near cherry trees at this time of year! Crabapple trees aren’t nearly as pretty.
Orchidée Vanille as I head out to make sandwiches for donation to a local mission providing food to those needing it at this time. Got my mask and hat (to avoid the hairnet thing) ready to go.
Gets me out of the apartment and provides my husband space to work on his class homework and develop his main paper topic, which must be ready for discussion tonight.
I may stop at Chick-fil-a on the way home. Mobile app and pick up.
I hear you! My daughter complained that I was way too loud on my Google Meet this morning as she was taking a college exam 🙁
Good for you, doing that good work!!
That’s a wonderful thing you’re doing, and a nice way to be out of the house. ?
It’s a win-win, other than it starts to hurt my upper back. This time less so.
Yes, treat yourself to some Chick Fil-A:) Do try their Avocado Ranch dressing..it’s for their salads but it’s great for dipping fries and sandwiches in. If you ask for it, they usually give you a packet:). It’s soo good.
My mom has that teapot!!!! Thanks for the reminder of happy cups of tea with her and my dad.
I’m wearing Las Flores by Provision Scents today. It’s a sunny day, birds are chirping like crazy and I am feeling much better mentally than I have for the last few days. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
Off to make a pot of tea!
How funny your mom has that teapot!
I’ll join you in feeling better mentally today. I think I was really in a funk over not being able to spend Easter as a family, so I was feeling pretty emotional for the past couple of days. Better today though!?
Oh cool, I think that might be a first! (Except when I posted the ubiquitous stump teapots that I own)
My sister has it, too
I’m in Angelique Noire again. It’s becoming a go to during this crazy time. Maybe I’ll thunk my decant one of these days.
As Angela wrote in her post yesterday, I was good for the first month at home, but now…I’ve injured an ankle and can’t get out to walk so I’m starting to lose it a little. And I mistakenly bought some tp that is only one ply the other day and it’s awful. I was seduced by the relatively large package and now I have lots of it. Maybe I should have asked myself why there were still several on the shelf…
I also adore AN
I am sorry you are having a tough time, know that you are not alone.
Do you have a friend you can meet online for tea?
Thanks LTSG. I DO have a friend to meet – I’ll text her today.
So sorry about your ankle. I hope it heals soon. Any crutches or a walker lying around?
I actually prefer the 1 ply (which I switched to quite a while ago), it’s way less linty than “premium” TP and I think it actually holds up better.
I bought an ankle brace, but I’m supposed to stay off it as much as possible.
I can see that preference – but this particular one ply is crappy. Pun intended.
Feel better soon, Springpansy! ?
Thanks, PL67!
Oh no 🙁 I hope your ankle gets better very very soon! Not being able to go on walks right now sucks 🙁 I am so worried I will injure myself and won’t be able to exercise off my stress.
You smell wonderful. Sorry about the TP 🙁
That’s exactly my issue – I need to walk for my stress release!!
Sorry to hear about your ankle springpansy. ?
You’re becoming quite an Anglophile, Robin (or should that be Britophile, as I’m in the north east of Scotland?), what with the Portmeirion teapot photo & the Arundel Castle article, & the Wisley one from last week! Next time we visit our friends north of Houston we’re determined to take in Mercer Botanic Gardens, quite close to them – when we were with them just after Harvey happened the gardens were closed, & we didn’t manage it on last year’s visit for reasons that escape me, but it’s on next year’s ‘to do’ list.
Well there are more coming from England — they do seem to do more garden videos, or they just put more on YouTube? or they are the ones I can find since they’re in English?
Mercer Botanic Gardens — just looked, no official YouTube channel I can find. (I generally am not using “consumer” videos.)
If you know of a good Scottish garden with official videos and without advertising, let me know!
Robin, The National Trust for Scotland owns/runs many of our gardens – try this section on their website: https://www.nts.org.uk/visit/things-to-do/best-gardens-in-scotland
Not sure about their presence on YouTube, but would be surprised if they don’t have one, either collectively for their site, or each garden/castle/stately home/whatever having individual entries.
In one of my recent exchanges with Persolaise I mentioned you’d started posting video footage of gardens, he wasn’t aware but said he was very interested & would explore NST. He is of course aware of your site, though I think he just hadn’t had a look recently.
Oh thank you, that will tell me names to look for on YouTube!
Solstice Scents Blackburn’s Parlor today…notes are Vanilla Waffle Bowl, Vanilla & Chocolate Ice Creams, Sliced Bananas Smothered In Caramel Sauce & Topped With Whipped Cream
I’m not going to lie…I smell pretty amazing. 🙂
That sounds yummy. 🙂
Did you end up buying any makeup over the weekend?
I did not order any makeup yet but these are in my cart… 😉 I love a good shimmering blush and highlighter. I’m ok w/ satin and not a fan of matte.
Here are the blushes…
https://www.temptalia.com/swatches/?compare=419585,413921,414454
And here are the highlighters…
https://www.temptalia.com/swatches/?compare=373600,373598,373170
That does sound pretty darn good!!
Love the teapot! All my dishes are the Portmeirion Botanic Garden pattern. I don’t have that exact teapot but a slightly similar one.
Wearing Kerosene Winter of 99 as the wind howls outside. Layered it over B&BW Bonfire Bash, a smoky vanilla lotion, so I smell like a smoky marshmallow roast. LOL.
Your post is making me want to drink some Smokey tea with a marshmallow on the side
YUM !!! Waft my way 🙂
Oh nice, that is such a pretty set.
Your wintry winds have made their way down to us. I’d like to send them back, please.
Will have to look into that bbw scent.
Mmmm marshmallow roast:)
That sounds like an AMAZING scent combo!
Chergui for me today. We shall see if my husband is able to bear this one. He’s actually been quite open to scents I’ve been wearing. I’ve missed Chergui. Such beauty in this scent!
Another gorgeous NYC day. Morning walks have been so life-giving for me. I’m going to miss these walks when we get back to the office but I’ll be very happy to be in that office as well.
I feel the exact same way about my morning walks. You smell great today!
You smell lovely!
Morning walks may still be possible. The sun is up early in the summer…. ?
Easter was quiet and boring.?It was okay though.
We had a very warm and sunny weekend with temps higher than 20 degrees Celsius (thats about 70 in Fahrenheit).
But yesterday it dropped to 8 degrees (46°F). I am suddenly wearing sweaters again.
SotD is Bottega Veneta.
So good.
Easter was odd for me too. First time my eldest was not with us. She would not come home because she is a nurse in an ICU in a hospital. I missed her terribly!
Bottega Venetta is probably my favorite leather (and I would not consider myself a huge fan of leather). I have cazaubon to thank for turning me on to it!
Oh i can imagine that you miss her terribly. So sorry to hear this. Especially in times like these you just want to hug your loved ones and have them around all the time, right…?!!
Is the area she works in heavily hit by Covid19 cases?
She has patients that have tested positive as well as patients that have passed.
?
I cannot even imagine working in an ICU under normal circumstances (though I realise IC is never normal…),
during a pandemic its extra stressful.
But i can also imagine it must be wonderful to be able help, and see people recover.
Yes, fortunately for her she absolutely loves her career. So that is a positive .
Btw my tooth stopped irritating. Yay!
I do feel it needs to be checked some day though…it cannot be okay to have this feeling after a root canal.
I actually had my annual dental check up planned today, needless to say all non urgent appointments were cancelled because of Covid19.
But if the sensitivity returns and it gets more painful I think I will try to make an appointment though.
Glad to hear that your tooth feels better, but I would have it checked at some point.
I love Bottega Veneta on others but not on myself, so I never did get a bottle. Just like Coco Mad. I always pay people compliments on it, but the times that I’ve worn it myself I felt I wanted to take my skin off. I guess I like some scents only for brief moments.
It was the first time in years that I did not visit my mother for Easter Sunday, very strange….
We’re having the same spring weather. April is making its way up my least favorite months list.
Easter was like this for me https://images.app.goo.gl/zt1Kb77cNY9ackUEA
?
I’m in Grand Soir this morning, because with it being 55 degrees on my walk, it seemed like the thing to do.
Sip of the day is again, Taylor’s Assam. About done with this box. I think I’ll break out some of my MF tea when I finish this up. Super exciting post, I know. ?
Many of my usual tea merchants are selling out of everything too…there is nothing that people are not stockpiling!
Or perhaps they aren’t able to restock as quickly?
Yes, probably that too!
Mmm Grand Soir
Our weather is heavenly now here! I like it a bit cooler like this. We know it won’t last!
Yep, we’ll enjoy what we have while we have it!
Happy Tuesday!
Still on my holiday leave, including tomorrow.
I smell of Prada Purple Rain.
smelling good, lucasai! I adore PR. 😀
Thank you!
Slept very late after a night of tossing and turning, so just now getting to coffee and toast. I managed to get nothing done yesterday except baking oatmeal cookies which just so happen to be delicious.
So, I’m wearing DB Smoked Ambergris to do all the things today that I should have done yesterday. Moby needs a bath but a guess washing a vehicle isn’t essential so he’ll have to stay dirty.
I saw your cookies and want some!
I’d love you to have some because I’m eating too many. Last night I put a couple in the microwave and then topped it with some vanilla ice cream. It’s no wonder I have no waist anymore.
Delicious!!! I will gladly take them off your hands!!
That sounds amazing. Thanks for the idea!
Oatmeal cookies are my favorite. Yours look really, really good.
They were delish! I wish I could share them. ❄️
I’ve been thinking about making oatmeal cookies recently too. Maybe your post will be the push that gets me to actually do it. ?
Amouage Bracken Woman is my SOTD and I am drinking a cup of Earl Grey tea.
Oh, I thought about this yesterday, it’s a nice laundry detergent smell…
enjoy your tea
I’m keeping on keeping on in.
Late yesterday I applied Bee. I almost purchased an FB of this one a few days before we got down to serious SIP. I’m glad I waited. Pretty, but not a perfume I now feel I need to own. It grates on me just a tad if I am not very careful to apply just a tiny spritz.
As a treat, this AM I applied Rose Opera. My usual APB on this one if anyone knows how I can purchase an FB in the USA.
Ummm…. I seem to be enjoying my acronyms this AM, LOL, IMHO!
I love Bee! It’s tentatively on my full-bottle list, but I promised myself I’d stick to the habit of using up samples before I splurge on bottles. We’ll see if my opinion changes; it’s strong stuff!
I like Bee too. Especially when I first apply it and I get a hit of almost edible patchouli, I may get myself another decant, when my current one is empty 😉
IKWYM. I have a kinda sorta rule about buying bottles until I’ve gone through more than 1 decant, which I kinda sorta follow ?
Me too!!!!! (Kinda, sorta, at times, usually but not errrrr always, I mean that is with *some* exceptions. . . )
I was reminded yesterday of Iris Poudre and had an instant craving, so I’m satisfying it today. The sun is shining, the quails are calling, and my son and I are planting popcorn in the garden today.
Planting popcorn! If there isn’t a children’s book about this, there needs to be!
Iris Poudre sounds lovely.
It’s *rainbow* popcorn, too! So much fun to plant! Now, here’s hoping the gophers don’t just mow the whole 30-foot row down with their hideous little scythes…
Thank you!
Oh lordy! That was supposed to go way above ⬆️
SOTD is Cristalle, something brisk for my first shopping trip in two weeks. Very restrictive here (for which I am grateful). Wore a mask, stood in line, wiped down everything, loaded my cart with the fresh produce that I have been missing and half-price Easter candy–yeah! Jelly Beans!!! Now back home and planning to stay in for the next ten days/two weeks. Anybody else getting 3 months to the gallon on their gas milage?
ha! yes I put gas in my car a month ago, still more than three-quarters full. And gas prices keep going down down down.
Yes on the gas. Given that I drive 300 miles to work per week that is the silver lining.
Your commute would totally stress me out! 300 miles a week! I drive about 50 miles a week if that.
LOL, and thanks for the reminder to go for a drive in the hills to keep the car battery charged.
And I forgot to say, you smell GORGEOUS.
thanks sweetie!
Gas here is on the precipice of dipping below $1/gallon ?
OMG, is it?!?!?!?! I should take a look at what the prices are around me…!
For some bizarre and poorly thought out reason, I grabbed a little-used bottle of Ortigia Ambra Nera and spritzed liberally. Am now regretting the decision. I do love a good amber, but this one is not doing it for me. A gift from a beloved perfumista kindred spirit here, so while I don’t love the fragrance, I do love the bottle for its association with her. I’m gonna go shower and spray something else!
Just body products for me today. I think I’m finding the smell of the masks distorts my perfume. Kund if happened yesterday.
So, some added- in Lush R& B in my hair ends for a fresh gardenia smell.
A bit worried for my coworker who is now home with mild symptoms. But she’s in her 60s and lives alone. Also angry that when she was in computer training just about 2 weeks ago, one of the instructors was sick and leaning over her shoulder to show her stuff. She was wearing a surgical mask, but they’re not all that effective with close contact like that. So disheartening to hear that they allowed that to happen.
It’s absolutely ludicrous what they expect healthcare workers here to do without proper PPE. I’m so disgusted with entire medical system in the US. How many physicians, nurses, resp therapists, EVS workers have to DIE?! And on top of that, everyone here is facing pay cuts, sick time without sick pay, etc. I want out of healthcare for good, and am trying to find something I can do remotely again. It’s nice people clap when you go into work, but I’d much rather have PPE…’!
???
It is so difficult to stay positive, when you are a healthcare worker and in the face of an unseen danger EVERY.DAY.We are silently scared, and we don’t want patients who are already scared to notice that.We got an ample supply of visors today which makes me incredibly happy.
We are still standing.✌??
I had a patient last week who was having CP, with significant cardiac history, and she was afraid to come to the hospital. For a WEEK she put it off, and of course now, the damage is done and irreversible. So sad!
Sad and unneccesary,if the powers that be do what they are supposed to do!!
I know what you mean. When friends ask how it’s going for me or my hubs (who has it worse than I do atm), I’ve just tesorted to saying “Which version do you want?”, lol. Glad you have some shields!
Agreed, and that RN instructor should never have been allowed to work sick like that. I know a lot of things are beyond administrative control, but they need to do their gosh darned best with what is in their control.
Don’t blame you one bit. I’ve thought about that myself- my regular job is hands off, no one breathing down my neck, and relatively low stress. But it’s a rarity and probably won’t stay like that forever. Maybe I’ll go work at a perfume shop!
Right?! I was thinking about working for the park service, or camp hosting in some remote campground when this is all over.
Do what you love!
That sounds good to me! My mom actually worked as an advice nurse for a while, all you do is talk to people on the phone.
Oh no! That is unconscionable! I am hoping for the best for your co-worker.
Oh no. I hope that someone will be checking in on your coworker.
Questions? Has there been a list of perfume/perfume relates books lately?
I am not able to check everyday so perhaps I missed it?
I would love some new reading material and ones related to perfume get extra points.
No answers but ditto on this question!!!
You can see everything in the books topic here, but no, haven’t posted anything on the subject in a good while, will try to do that soon, sorry!
https://nstperfume.com/topic/perfume-books/
Thanks, I have been through most of those, just wishing for more
Spent a full 8,5 hours in a face mask and gloves, but I’m done for today.
The lovely and soothing Felanilla kept me company. Trying to mentally prepare myself for my job interview tomorrow morning. It feels weird, surreal almost, so I hope I’ll keep my wits together when it matters.
Good luck on your interview tomorrow! ?
Felanilla sounds intriguing with that saffron note. But I think that the vanilla may be too much for me
I do like the vanilla note in Akro’s Dark though, or in L’ame perdue. Maybe its because it has a more supporting role….?
If you like Dior Homme, chances are that you will like Felanilla. It’s not that vanillic.
And thanks, I’m getting really nervous. I would so love to get that job.
Good luck ?
Thank you!
Best of luck on your interview!
Thanks!
Felanilla! ? Hope your interview goes better than expected! You not only get the job, but they offer you better wages to boot??
Thank you, it just feels odd. It’s the second time I interview for this job, and last time it meant a trip abroad, so it feels really weird meeting with these people in my own sitting room in The Netherlands.
I’m actually not paid badly, where I am, so that is not my incentive to want a change. We’ll see what happens.
Fingers crossed for your interview.
Thanks for that. I hope the interview will go well and that they decide they will hire me this time round.
The best of luck to you!
Good luck with the interview!
Fingers crossed for you!
Good luck! ?

And as I mentioned in the post and the other PSAs here, the Sephora Rouge sake is coming up on April 17th and then the other levels start the following week, if I am not mistaken.
The rant on grocery shopping, and I will just mention Wegmans because it was there that my blood boiled, roiled and boiled, I tell you.
NJ has a new rule where you must wear a mask to go into any essential retail space; there are exceptions for people who have an underlying condition (but why are they out shopping in the first place, but that is story for another day…and don’t tell me there is no one else). So, everyone who could wear a mask wore a mask upon entry. Then, all hell broke loose. 1 person shifted his mask to uncover his nose and mouth and started singing while walking around and interrupted that by talking with a booming voice to what appeared to me random shoppers; I moved out of the way quickly. Then there was the guy who also shifted his mask, had his mobile phone tucked between his neck and shoulder and kept talking while strolling his cart along, not caring that he was getting close to other people. Then we have a very nervous person (I fully understand), who took 3 gallon jugs of milk out the refrigerator, put them in her cart, looked at the refrigerator again, took 3 more gallons out (not sure if the same type), put them in her cart, then looked at the 6 containers and put 3 back in again. Meanwhile, she was social distanced from her cart so she basically held hostage 4 double-door sized refrigerators. Are you friggin’ kidding me? At checkout, I asked the cashier if she had cleaned the payment pad. She looked at me and said, no, and it’s not required. I just stood there and asked her to clean it AND told her that a Wegmans email indicated it is part of procedure. She very reluctantly did it but just the fact that I had to remind her to do it made a stressful situation even more stressful. Clearly, I need to be more Zen before shopping.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. I had to get this off my chest.
People are really weird out there. One person would not let my sister walk down the same isle as here in whole foods the other day. My sister had a mask. I guess it was ok for her to need things, but she expected an empty store? Some people are overly cautious and other cavalier. Sometimes both at the same time it seems.
The stores here in the suburbs of the SF bay area, have been great about spacing out people, limiting numbers, cleaning carts etc…. I think the young people that work at my Trader Joe’s deserve a big vacation to the tropics when this is all over. Hope fully you will not need to go out for a while now.
Wow, I would keep going anyway. At Target, I was already at the end of the aisle and this woman with a cart insisted I step back (note, I had no cart but regardless) further back down the aisle. Death Stare and the woman backed off either because of it or she changed her mind about getting something from that aisle.
I agree with you re: being thankful for the clerks.
People still don’t care to stay away from others, I hate that too!
Yep. I just want people to stay the heck out of my personal bubble!
I am just curious as to the folks that don’t have access to a mask? Are they not allowed to shop in. NJ?
You can use a DIY face covering so no access is no excuse. I have cloth masks with removable filter from a purchase in January and my order from Custom Ink just came (the box is still outside and once I bring it in, I will wait a few days before opening and then wait a few days before digging in).
Oh okay that is good! I was worried about people that missed out on the mad dash for face masks that are now completely sold out.
Not to send you over the edge, but did you hear about the woman who went around LICKING items and then putting them back on the the shelf? I think they had to destroy a couple thousand dollars worth of items. IIRC, this was in Cali. She was arrested, but it got me wondering how many people did the same thing and didn’t get caught?! ?
THUNK! That’s me hitting my head against the wall in frustration. Seriously, people, WTH! I suppose this is worse than the person caught on camera licking a RING doorbell. Yuck!
At times like these, I think we will see the best of the best and the worst of the worst. It’s all a choice.
My grocery store is only allowing 2 gallons of milk at a time.
Another gorgeous bottle today?
Sorry your shopping trip was stressful.
Thanks, lillyjo. There’s a limit too at Wegmans and I shidder to think what the cashier had to endure after the woman was told of the limit. There are signs on the refrigerators.
I had better luck at my Wegmans this morning….not a long line, people were very respectful and careful as we all tried to glide around safely. The clerk did clean everything, including the payment area before I set anything down. She even (very politely) told the guy behind me to wait till was completely checked out before he began putting things on the belt so that she could clean it again. Did not see anyone without a mask of some fashion….I used one of my many scarves, because I don’t have a mask and I am not about to go searching if I don’t have to….stay well and don’t let the crazies get you down.
Thanks, jepster. I did not mention that once I checked out, I lingered to pick up some extra shopping bags, then the guy behind me in line was almost going to bump into, so guy got the Death Stare and quickly backed off. In this case, I think the cashier should have sropped the guy seeing that I was still at her station! That said though, given her lack of concern for cashier line hygiene, I did not have high hopes.
I feel ya hajusuuri. I did my weekly grocery run this morning and Tuesday and Thursday mornings the first hour is reserved for healthcare workers at my local store, which is a nice touch. Well, I can tell you that today about 75% of them could not have been, which really irked me since EVERY OTHER day is reserved for “individuals at higher risk of severe illness”? I came home and ranted to my husband. If you’ve read this far, thank you too! Lol
I wondered how that was working. I fall into the high risk for severe illness, but haven’t gone at the appointed times because I thought do I need a doctors note? Open my purse to show my medications? So I’ve just gone when I thought it would be the least crowded.
I think it’s all on the honor system. I’ve been going on Tuesday mornings, but they don’t ask my for my work badge or anything. Do you go early in the morning? I have been because I feel like it shouldn’t be crowded, but today there was a line on the sidewalk forming before the store was open….I wonder if going late at night would be better…?
I started going in the morning but found it too busy, so I’ve switched to early to mid evening, and that’s been better. So around 6-7 pm.
The stores have started to close earlier than they used to.
I don’t think they’re allowed to ask.
They obviously did not get the memo, didn’t care, or wanted to score either free advice or someone to marry. Some people are just insensitive and clueless.
I’m staying home because I’m old enough, etc., that I should do that. I’m ordering whatever I can online, which is not always easy as the delivery services get booked up and you can’t make substitutions on the fly. And it’s frustrating never to have all the ingredients for a recipe.
None the less, I’ve come to the realization that I am ten times happier now that I don’t HAVE to go to the actual grocery store, which I found nerve-wracking even before the plague. I guess I was always meant to be a recluse, lol.
That’s the right attitude and you found a way to make it work for you.
wow!
I need to center myself before the next trip.
I haven’t been to my local Wegman’s or Target for at least 3 weeks, possibly 4. I’ve been putting it off, honestly. I know that I will have to get stuff there sometime in the future but am just not in the mood to rush it.
Your Death Stare (TM) has been getting quite the workout lately.
I was going to go to the local Wegman’s this morning, but saw quite a line of people standing six feet apart outside the store, waiting to get in. I decided that I didn’t have the time for that.
Local grocery stores and big box stores are getting better at trying to keep customers at more of a distance from each other, but the rules seem to be different each time, and trying to figure out the new rules for each store each time is another layer of stress. It’s important they do so, but it’s a challenge.
I refuse to set foot in my local grocery store. I’m making one trip per month to Costco and that’s it. They have nice wide aisles.
Good afternoon y’all!
Wearing a couple of sprays of Clarins Eau Dynamisante and enjoying the spa like smell!
Joining Robin in Hermes – for me it’s 24, Faubourg. So absolutely gorgeous, and I’m very near thunking my first FB. (Never fear – there’s a backup waiting behind the bottle of No. 19 EDP.) What day is it today, Schmoosday? 🙂
Woo hoo, can’t wait to near that thunk!
Oh dear….I accidentally subscribed to ALL comments. ? So now my inbox has more than 50 new mails ?
HA!
Whoops!
Doused in Byredo Pulp because I can. I almost wore it during poetry week, so I guess it was still on my mind. I was going to pair it with Christina Rosetti’s Goblin Market but just didn’t end up doing it. It’s serving me well today except for my big sneezes right after I applied 4 sprays to the chest/neck.
House twins today!
Biagiotti Roma, I reapplied some times over the day for enjoying the top notes.
The patient we had last week has died of pneumonia, propably Covid related, so we all will get tested tomorrow.
So sorry to hear that, tannina. Good luck with the test!
Yikes. Thinking of you and hoping for the best!
Oh no. Fingers crossed for the best. ?
SotD = Tauer tuberose sotto la luna
Gosh I adore this scent’s balance of spice and flowers. I would love to smell Sotta la Luna on someone else just so I could smell it anew, know what I mean? 😉
Note to self: I do. not. like. cashmeran in large quantities. I sampled Velvet Haze on one wrist last week, can still smell it on every sweater I wore in the three days after, not a good thing. Maybe I’m hypersensitive to something in that perfume.
Tuesday-bluesday. Woke up feeling so tired this morning. Yesterday was busy. Today I am making a point to slow down, gently greeting this sunny sky and warm air.
It’s national gardening day in the US says the radio DJ in my kitchen. I’ll go for a walk then pull some weeds. My Mr. Lincoln rose bush decided to wake up a few weeks ago, already has three buds.
Ahhhh, Spring. 😀
You know, until you said Tuesday-bluesday, I realized I did not even think about what day of the week it is today!
ha! they’re all Tuesdays as far as I can tell. 😀
Here’s hoping that Wednesday is better for both of us.
yep! Wednesday is now Whateverday in my world, so whatever happens it’s all good. 😀
I think Jalapeno sent me her good weather, a fresh morning but with the sun shining soon the temperature was up. Went shopping today, early morning, no crowd. There seems to be a shortage of flour, the only item on my list that I didn’t find.
Scent is Weil Suki, a little on the sweet side at first but late dry down is the most beautiful incense, and a steal at £8 for 100ml.
Maybe you can send any extra warmth to me tomorrow ?
Will try☺
Glad to see that someone got the late spring/early summer type sunshine I had for the Easter weekend! ???
Sounds good, I almost blind bought it, but then left it a tkmaxx
The password project is finally done. 98% are unique, and the remainder are ones I can’t change, but nothing critical. Today I’m sampling La Danza della Libellule. It is so very pretty, but I have D600 and Amyris Femme in my collection that give me the same “feel.”
Springpansy, I’m in the same boat. I walked so much that I have tendonitis in my foot now, and just have to let it rest and heal.
Waving at you all, and hoping you are having a good day.
Congrats on finishing that project! Now it’s project restfoot.
Commando but sniffed a couple fumes from Memo from the vial.
I saw Taco Bell is giving away tacos today and now I want some serious junk food. But not worth the risk…even for a Cheesy Gordita Crunch. After this is over, I am gunna go to Chick Fil-A, Krispy Kreme and Chronic Taco! In the same day maybe haha.
Got a package from FedEx that I normally would have had to sign for and glad I didn’t have to. Delivery ppl have been so professional..they are appreciated.
I did make it to Chick-fil-A. One other customer. They had all sorts of plastic barriers up, so I was feeling okay about being in there. Not everyone working there wore masks. Most did. But, I was never close to anyone and they had gloves on.
Don’t forget Popeye’s!
Never! Lol
Estee Lauder Modern Muse. It’s easy-going and super pretty! I switched out my perfume drawer from fall/winter to spring/summer last week, and with the sunshine coming through the windows it was just the right time to do so.
I have a makeup traincase full of my offseason fragrances, and it lives in my closet. My flat is built into the side of a hill so the closet stays cool year-round. It’s a nice bonus.
That is a nice bonus. I hardly see traincases mentioned or used anymore. I got one for my 8th grade graduation, a samsonite, and still have it. This is a good idea!
Another sunny autumn day here, but cold. Autumn has brought settled weather that summer never did. We’re going to venture out to the supermarket this morning before work. It’s only our second trip under lockdown, at least I’m familiar with the processes now. I’ll scent the trip with Hermès 24 Faubourg, at least I’ll smell fabulous even if the experience is trying 🙂
Oh!24 Fauborg is opulent!LoveLoveLove!!!!
Today I am extra classy in Amouage Gold Woman.
Our weather is glorious and I did extra walking yesterday. It was red flower day.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B–RgfZpIfz/?igshid=1xfd9tac2rog
My sleep is so disrupted now it’s really crazy. And all power to concentrate has flown out the window. I feel I’ve had a productive day if I manage to vacuum one room in my house.
You sure are UBER-classy today!!???
Why, thank you, kind sir! And I even have a newly vacuumed clean bedroom!
Beautiful flowers!
Extra classy indeed! ? And those red flowers are stunning ?
.
Love your flower photos!
Look for more soon. I saw some stunners today!
I feel your pain, I can’t concentrate either. My head is so full.
And you smell super stunning, Gold is one of the greats and I adore it.
Those flower photos are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
I am litterally flabbergasted after reading a couple of incidents that’s happening in the US…I mean WTH!!!(with an F actually….)
We’ve now also had soooo many shops vandalized(alcohol and cigarettes mostly),but here this:53(53!!!!!!) schools have been plundered and vandalized,pc’s and furniture stolen, broken windows and fires…it’s just crazy. Why is there always THAT element as well???
Oy.
In happier news,SOTD!K de Krizia.Comfort perfume.
It is 22:52,and we are having an amazing thunderstorm!Love the rain.Since lockdown,it seems we have been getting more rain than ever for this time of year!At least it is keeping people at home.
Stay safe boys and girls!
Robin:THANK YOU.
XO
Literally/Litterally…lol….Lockdown on correct spelling it seems as well….haha
Sorry guys for the spelling mistakes….I hate that myself!!Hear/Here…urgh…Covid-19,just go away!!!!
You smell wonderful!
Why do the awful people have to make a bad situation worse? I know, it’s because they are AWFUL. Ugh.. sorry Johano.
I know,right??
Sometimes it really does feel like the end of the world.
But we are still here,fighting.
XO
and still here..wearing perfume!
Hugs
Still here,even with insomnia at 2:39 am!!Haha!
XO
That is just ugly behavior. That said, I also find it ugly when I read about people wishing ill of another – ugh. You smell wonderful!
Thanks h,your shopping woes are getting me worked up on your behalf!
Stay safe!???
This morning I put on Lancome Oud Bouquet, because it’s cold here. Just now though, I put on Moulin Rouge because I wanted to feel pretty. Much quicker and easier than coloring my hair, lol.
Lol. Cold here too and we’ve had snow on and off today!? Then sometimes sun and snow at the same time, so weird.
Yeah, I had snow on my car this morning. It’s 35 degrees here. I’m freezing.
What do you think of Oud Bouquet? Is it very oudy?
I’m not that familiar with oud, but I would say it’s not. On me, I get alot of sweet vanilla and something incense-y, which is probably the oud. Some rose. It goes very sweet on my skin.
I hope you got your stimulus $!
Not yet. Hopefully soon!
By tomorrow and if not, you should be able to go to irs.gov to check on it.
It sounds like you have a nice, gentle oud in your SOTD. I’ve smelled a couple that are concentrated Eau de Poop!
Yeah, I can’t wear the poopy ones. JHaG Midnight Oud is like that. Gorgeous in the opening, then dries down to poop!
I went bananas this morning and threw on the entire rest of the sample of DC’s “I Miss Violets”. Why, I DO miss violets, among other things…
Nice 🙂
Today my “get up and go” has gotten up and left. It’s well and truly bugged out right now. Hopefully it will decide that it’s had enough alone time and will return tomorrow.
SOTD = Byredo Bal d’Afrique EdP, from the sample stash. Not quite the right perfume for the day. Time to go back to the perfumes that have been working for me.
You say your get up and go musta got up and went? Thanks for a new ear worm Jalapeño. https://youtu.be/xvKF3WQYADk
Hope tomorrow is better!
Thank goodness! Now I can get your earworm out of my head ???
ZOMG, awesome! ??? I’ll take that earworm over the new “Baby Shark” themed handwashing song. ?
Haha!!Come on….now it is stuck in my ear!!??
Sorry. It’s tenacious, too. I still have it pop in at random intervals.
Hope tommorow is better! What are some perfumes that work the best for you?
Whatever perfume syncs up with my mood is the best one. And predicting my moods lately is a task (oh what a task!) in and of itself. Lately that’s been Bibliotheque EdP from Byredo. Any of my incense perfumes have also been good. Maybe I should try some of my deep green perfumes?
Hope you have a great day tomorrow! ?
A good night of sleep tonight will go a long way to making that come true, I bet. ?
Tomorrow, tomorrow ? ?
It’s always a day away! ??
?
This morning I sprayed myself silly with L’Air du Temps for a change of pace. My bottle is a new version, not vintage. I sprayed at least 15 times, but I couldn’t smell anything. I sprayed on even more throughout the morning and still couldn’t smell anything, so I’m not sure if it was the lotion I applied beforehand. I will have to try again with no lotion another time.
When our group got an invite for a phone call meeting in an hour’s time (well, a mandatory one), Who does that? I had to spray myself with something else to get through the day. My 2nd sotd was Lush Tuca Tuca.
Did you ask your hubby if he smelled anything? As to the meetings, what I can’t abide is someone from Asia setting up an early call without 24 hour notice. Early for me now is before 8 even though my commute time is … wait, what commute time? ?
I just resprayed my hands 3 times each. It’s a bit stronger now so I think it may have been the lotion masking the scent.
I also sprayed some on a Kleenex for my hubby to sniff; he could smell it but I won’t repeat what he said. Ugh, men! ?
You were able to smell your 2nd SOTD, right?
Yes, it’s still going strong!
Bedtime scent last night: Chanel No. 5 EdT. I like it a lot. It wasn’t quite as soothing as some fragrances that I’ve used for their specifically soothing properties for me over the last few months, but it certainly wasn’t troubling. I just need to stick with the really soothing fragrances at bedtime.
General update: I had a telephone doctor’s appointment with my GP (nothing to do with any respiratory stuff) in the early afternoon, and that went all right. Dr. C. gave me his professional recommendations concerning my medical question, and it was reassuring to talk to someone who was totally informed on the issue and had the answers for all my questions.
I also told him that Mom’s doctor, who’s in the same practice, had been adamant about Mom not going out and mingling with the public. Dr. C. said that he knew that I have my own health conditions, of course, and that I shouldn’t do any unnecessary trips out to stores and such. But he said it was good that I was wearing a mask and gloves, that those were good precautions, and that if I was the designated shopper for the household, I had to do what I had to do. Dr. C. did seem to think in general that it was better that the member of the household (me) that isn’t a senior citizen should be the one venturing out for groceries and household items.
I forgot:
Oh, pretty teapot!
I have some ‘Rococo’ parrot tulips that should be blooming soon if they don’t get eaten. Those are mostly bright red, with little streaks of white and green and such here and there. ‘Rococo’ is a sport from the red tulip ‘Couleur Cardinal.’ I got several bulbs of each and planted them in December or so of 2018, intermingled. They all came up in the spring of 2019. It was quite a little show.
I agree that it’s best that any swaps and such be postponed while the health crisis is still roaring along. Not that you need my approval, of course, just saying I think that that was the wise choice, considering.
Take care!
What pretty tulips! I should order some of those, do you remember where you bought the bulbs?
I got those at Old House Gardens. https://oldhousegardens.com/
They specialize in heirloom flower bulbs, so the bulbs are not cheap. Some are relatively inexpensive compared to other, quite rare sorts that they sell. Some of the old-fashioned peonies they offer are available elsewhere for lower prices. With the bulbs I’ve gotten from there, I’ve enjoyed seeing flowers that are in many cases quite different from modern ones, but pretty in their own ways. 🙂
Thank you so much neyronrose!
