Tuesday, National Mario Day, Harriet Tubman Day and International Bagpipe Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Hermès L'Ombre des Merveilles. Tea at the moment is Season's Pick Assam GFOP Organic, from Upton.
Reminder: 3/13 is National Jewel Day...wear your blingiest, most attention-grabbing perfume.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the 18 karat gold teapot "covered in full with finest precious stones one can buy" (1,658 diamonds and 386 rubies plus the 20.70 karat natural ruby on the lid) was made by Milanese jeweler Scavia for Nirmal Sethia of Newby Teas.
Cartier L’Heure Défendue VII for me today. Chocolate and iris.
That sounds lovely. I don’t see the Cartier L’Heures discussed often, but I love IV and XIII is interesting.
And I love (or rather the Hubby does even more) L’Heure Perdue XI.
You smell Grand!
Have you tried the XI, L’Heure Perdue? It’s my fav.
Ha! I just saw this after my post above.
We agree.
It struck me as one that guys would also find very appealing!
I’m not sure – I think I tried XII L’Heure Mystérieuse, which I liked but lacked longevity on me.
That’s how I found most of them except for the ones with the horse mane accord, like Fougueuse.
This one came out later than the others. Colognoisseur really liked it and posted an interesting review. Worth a sniff!
In Guerlain Baiser de Russie.
Oooh…you smell good. The hint of pine is so special.
Thank you! ?
I get hints of pine, but the absinthe note is very pronounced on me. Like it a lot though!
Wearing Sigil’s Anima Mundi.
Good morning Y’all!
Wearing Bruno Acampora Musc, and feeling like this scent has moved to my No 1 spot of favorite scents ever. I’ve been wearing it a ton this week and just can’t get enough of it! Cozy snuggly musk with a hit of dirty patchouli in the background….LOVE IT!
I have a sample of that one after reading many rave reviews and watching Katie Puckrik’s video review, but I think I’m anosmic. I do get a bit of the “mushroom” note when I first apply it, this is another one I’d love to smell on someone else.
Me too! I love it for the few minutes that I can smell it fore it poofs.
That might be olfactory fatigue; I wonder if others can still smell it?
oh, that sounds so good
I love it too! You smell great. Love the mushroom-like beginning and the sweet/dirty musk that follows.
Shalimar initial, a student’s mother gave it to me. Nice, but not my usual type of perfume. I more a niche shopper. That teapot inthe pic is outrageous. I wonder if it has ever held tea!
He apparently did make tea in it, in front of the press I think.
The things we learn here! ?
House twin (cousins?) in Eau des Merveilles. The sun and blue skies are back.??
Robin, how is L’Ombre? I’m tempted to buy a sample off the bay, it will be forever until it comes to my Sephora.
Waft my husband’s way….
Lol!
Indeed it’s a beautiful sky today!?
I know! I am loving it!!?
First impression: I do not like L’Ombre at all, and it is not very Merveille-ish.
I tried it twice now.
First time I was not really impressed but I had to wash it off too soon (yup trying to keep all the viruses at bay)
So I wanted to give it another try because at first sniff it felt like a Merveilles family member.
I wore it for 2nd time this weekend.
But this time I got ‘generic fresh aquatic with tonka bean’-combo.
And now I know what kind of family member this is. Its the ‘sport’ variant of the merveilles..???(sorry)
ELDO Fils de Dieu today.
That is SO YOU! I think of you when I wear it.
Mmmm, you smell great!
You smell great Deva!
Joining the Hermes house twins in a dab of L’Ambre des Merveilles. Robin, please, please do one of your short reviews on L’Ombre – even a few sentences would be great. I know you don’t have much time for these anymore, but I likely won’t get to try this for a while and I am so curious!
Yes, short review, please!
I hope to review it next week, but it is true I rarely do reviews anymore so we’ll see if I manage it. But I don’t like it at all. It does not smell like Merveilles, and it does not smell like tea or incense either. “Generic men cologne” was my first thought.
Then again, I have only worn it once!
Just did a search of the comments, and I am echoing viridiaan:
https://nstperfume.com/2020/03/07/lazy-weekend-poll-spring-forward-2020/#comment-869566
Hi Robin – I was looking forward to your impression of L’Ombre and thanks for directing folks to mine! I kind of wish they’d stop with the flankers and let Nagel continue to create new scents that aren’t associated with existing lines in the house.
I don’t usually mind the EdM flankers because they do them slowly, but I know what you mean.
Still, I think in general Nagel’s style just doesn’t suit me. I did not really love either of her new scents (Galop was ok, but Twilly leaves me cold), or her Lagune, or Citron Noir, or Rhubarbe, or Merveilles Bleue.
I did like her Hermessences though.
I agree with you regarding her style. The only one I have liked and wear is Rhubarbe Ecarlate. Galop is okay but too pricey – the bottle design is fantastic. I have to try the Hermessences – I suspect that Cardamusc would appeal to me.
Oh glad you had the same experience. I did not get any incense or tea either and I thought it was me.
ive worn it twice now.
I agree, ‘generic’ is the right word for this.
Dont know if the new Hermes style fits me.
Lagune was a disappointment.
Citron noir was like bug spray to me….
I do like edm bleue, but i only crave it when weather is really hot and dry.
Thanks!
Oh i just commented elsewhere about my experience, i named this one the Sport Merveilles. Sorry. ?
It smelt too much like a generic aquatic tonka bean combo to me.
SOTD = Wisteria Hysteria, now sadly diminished due to new handwashing regulations…probably have to top it off with one of the decants at work – Do Son? Barkhane? Or copious applications of the Lily of the Valley hand cream?
No cases of CV19 reported in my state but I suppose it is just a matter of time. I have been stocking up like a prepper for a couple weeks now. Just found out there is shelf stable milk available! Once I get some of that, I can comfortably stay at my house for weeks without going out, if I have to. Once I get my spring lettuce started, I will be all set. Growing up, my mom used make the trek from the ranch to town for supplies once every three weeks, so this doesn’t feel too onerous to me at all, except for the lack of fresh milk.
That is sort of the ultimate bling teapot, isn’t it? I wonder how many of them there actually are in the world.
I think we’re up to 17 cases of CV19 in my state (GA), and 3 in my county…..My teacher hubby and 3 kids are praying for digital learning days so they can be home for a day or two!
oh stay safe and healthy!
UHT milk is great! ?
One can get used to powdered, which I buy because it’s so much lighter to carry, and I drink a lot of milk.
My grocery store has been carrying dried organic milk for a while, and it is good for all sorts of things. i just figured having some of the liquid kind on hand might be nice for a change of pace if we really get to the “three weeks of staying home OMG !!!” stage.
I remember as a child wondering why my mom seemed to dwaddle in the grocery store, chatting to people, and then dwaddle at the feed store – she was big on us kids not dwaddling, but now I understand she was desperate for adult conversation – adult contact – of any sort…
That’s a great observation!
There is only 1 of those teapots…it was a custom make.
Just have to say, I love the procession of teapots, Robin.
I’m glad!
Musc Nomade, I did manage to find my bottle today.
It’s lovely. Goutal was my first forage into niche and Le Chèvrefeuille my first Goutal purchase.
I had a nice Assam this morning, but have since switched to a christmassy black tea. It’s nice.
That’s a very blingy teapot today!
Yay for finding a lost bottle!
I have switched to spearmint green, and am just now thinking of switching to a latte
It was at the back of my fridge.
I never drink lattes, although I do add milk to my Assams and occasionally to my Ceylons.
I’m now on a herbal tea with chocolate and chai. It’s a nice beverage for an evening.
I never did get my latte, too busy, and now I am on a nice cup of honeybush tea
My interpretation of this community project is to wear scents which are opposite to understated: loud, in your face, with big projection etc.
Today I picked Jul et Mad Nin-Shar. While it is not exacly loud overall, it is a sweet rose with vanilla, oud and patchouli. The opening is almost aggressive, although the fragrance calms down later. Thick and sweet, good for cold weather.
Anybody can interpret it however they like! It screams Fracas to me, so far, but I might come up with something else.
Fracas is already on my list for this week.
Great minds think alike.
chant d’aromes is nice
being awake is not
the end
Hmmm, haven’t worn Chant in a while – maybe your poem will make me do it!
Love Chant d’Arômes!
That teapot kind of looks like a Fabrege egg. Not something I would buy though. Had a doctor’s appointment this morning and still commando right now. It’s my youngest dog’s birthday today and Sydney turns 2. I am thinking of Coromandel today.
Happy, happy Birthday to them! ?
Aww.. happy puppy birthday!?
Oh, you smell lovely! I adore Musc Nomade.
Eau de Camille was my first AG purchase. Mid-1990’s.
I think this was meant for me
Musc Nomade is probably my favourite solimusc.
I’ve also got a bottle of Camille. I got most of my Goutals between 2008-2011, and I haven’t bought any in years!.
Ha, that’s what I wore today
If I had enough money to buy that teapot, I expect there are some other things I would still buy first…
Idyllwild for me today. I finally got a decant of this beauty. It’s a stunner but I wish it lasted longer than it does. Perhaps in the summer, it will do better.
70 degrees in NYC yesterday! I biked home and enjoyed it immensely but paying for it this morn
You smell great, I have the same issue so I re-spritz and enjoy it all over again. I did buy that Perfume lock spray specifically to test it with that perfume. It did seem to help but could have been ‘the placebo effect’.?
I’ve never heard of a perfume lock spray. Hmm…
Love Idyllwild, I think it was my last FB purchase. I’m lucky that it seems to last well on me, but then I do spray with abandon!!
I’m tempted. I think I’ll breeze through this decant.
I don’t know anything like it.
Ostara for me, because there’s a rather springlike dampness to the air today…and Ostara, to me, is a very damp scent.
The husband sniffed and proclaimed it good, but then proceeded to talk more about Eau de Merveilles, which I wore yesterday.
All sorts of hissing and confrontations this morning. Agnes is charging at Hallie…I think it’s a desire to play, but Hallie is just too old and too standoffish for that. Mornings after food seems to be when the new kitty wants to play.
New kitty, how fun! I must have missed this announcement.
Agnes.. love the name.
Oh, have fun with the new kitty cat!
Awww, sounds like new kitty is doing well! But poor Hallie, lol. I had to put my male cat in time out yesterday. He’s been aggressively chasing the little naked and she hisses and growls at him, not liking it. It prompted a wheezing attack so now I’m a little worried about leaving them alone, ugh. He’s acting like an intact tom cat lately.
There was a full moon last night. Could be one explanation of bad behavior. My cat, who is usually pretty good, kept me awake last night. I may have to kick him out tonight so I can sleep. ?
Actually, he was calmer last night! He’s been doing this for over a month, including trying to hump everything, lol. That’s not new, just more frequent and aggressive. Spring fever! I still suspect whoever neutered him left something behind ?
I hope your little guy let’s you rest tonight!
Ha! Nothing is safe. Poor kitty. And thanks for that visual! ?
Oops! How long ago was this kitty “snipped”?
About 7 years ago, as a kitten.
Yay for a new kitty!
I’m wearing Stora Skuggan Fantome de Maules today. It’s reminding me a little of Dusita Erawan in that autumnal, damp green, with a warm, lightly sweet, earthy base sorta way. Or maybe even Andrea Maack Coven but mellower.
But mostly I smell like Purell. I went to my weekly palliative care team meeting at an upper east side hospital today and surprised I was able to just waltz on in (I don’t work for them). Only on my way back out did I see them stopping people to ask them if they had a fever or had travelled anywhere.
SOOO much going on in our universe.
Good luck with everything.
Purell is the new Shalimar. Or Chanel #5. Or Santal 33… LOL.
It’s only a matter of time until there is Santal 33 hand sanitizer, I bet!
Also, did you see this on luxury prepping?
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/05/style/the-rich-are-preparing-for-coronavirus-differently.html
Ha! But you’re probably right!
Elisa P, question for you- I never travel anywhere ever, but at my work I am in constant contact with people that seem to always be traveling to various countries. Is this something to mention to a health care provider if I need to see one?
Can’t hurt to mention it- though medical facilities that are doing some screening are asking about travel history. I know my facility is asking that. Although it’s probably more pertinent if YOU traveled + had symptoms.
Opened up my decant of Tea for Two, and wow!
Brings back fond memories of too many people smoking clove cigarettes in my undergraduate dorm – they smelled so delicious before they were lit! – and drinking tea with my Eastern European grandparents.
Went perfectly with my brekkie of peanut butter banana toast sprinkled with cinnamon, Chaga powder and sea salt.
Breakfast sounds yum!
Someone asked me last week if I’d been smoking clove cigarettes. The culprit was my Aveda hair texture tonic spray which smells heavily of cloves.
I love the way Aveda hair products smell. In 2005 or around there abouts, they had a line of perfumes, oils and body products that were so spectacular.
I remember it fondly!
I generally like the way their stuff smells, but this stuff can be strong if I use it on dry hair. Mostly, I use it on damp hair and then blow dry a little, which kills the scent. The few times I’ve used it on dry hair, it really competed with my SOTD.
Nice to hear you like Tea for Two, it’s one of my favourites.
It gets a lot of love in the SotD polls! When I saw it was available in decant for Canada I had to try.
Not sure I’d like it as much in summer, but it’s cold and grey and raining for me today, so it was a perfect antidote to the weather.
Not blingy (not in the mood for Bombay Bling or my Micallef), but I just drained my decant of Gallivant’s Istanbul. Doesn’t break new ground, but a good amber.
Commando at the moment, but I could perhaps dig out my bottle of Micallef Aoud Gourmet – I think it’s the only bottle I have with jewels on it. I don’t love it as much as I used to, though.
I broke down and bought a new PC, and am typing on it at this very moment. Work and life were getting too busy, and the old one was just too slow (have you ever had to wait to see your letters appear on screen, seconds after you are done typing?), too often. Hair pulling.
I missed logging into NST yesterday (I’ve been missing that a lot, lately), but I hope there were lots of you complaining about DST, which just gets harder and harder to deal with every year.
It’s raining here in the desert, though, which is nice. I don’t know if any of you have ever been in the desert post-rain, but the air becomes suffused with the most intriguing and gorgeous scent. Petrichor – the smell after a rain – should be bottled and sold as home spray.
Happy Tuesday, all!
Sounds gorgeous, that smell! I”m pretty sure I’ve smelled it, but not in the desert. In Switzerland in summer, there are usually some really heavy rains that can also result in a strong “rain” smell.
Petrichor is wonderful and restorative! I love that smell!
SotD = Prada Purple Rain
It’s raining! We’re getting pounded by a Pacific storm today. ?️☔
I adore Purple Rain, such a beautiful iris fragrance. Even the sample packaging is lovely.
Stay safe friends, and remember 4711 (or vodka! ?) makes a good hand sanitizer.
Definitely on my eternally growing and morphing buy list. Love that one.
yep, same for me! I would buy a FB of Purple Rain if I could use up another bottle of iris perfume first ?
That’s a beauty.
And I know it’s not related to Prince, but I can’t help but make the connection.
If I had mad money I would own it.
mad money for perfume! now that’s a great use for mad money?? I always think remember Prince when I wear Purple Rain, I think he would have liked it a lot ???
I heard vodka doesn’t work because you need at least 60% alcohol – but Everclear will!
true, it’s desperate times when vodka isn’t the answer ?
I like your new Avatar! I had to double check that it was You, tiffanie, and not a new tiffanie, lol. I’ve never smelled PR but want it just for the name.
It’s me! Been a long time since I changed that avatar, so I was ready for a new look ??
I bet lots of bottles of PR sold for the name alone!
Wait – send some rain up north! We’ve only had a drizzle this weekend!
wheeee, down here there’s rain in the forecast for a week! I hope you get some too ☔?
Lovely new avatar!
I never smelt Purple Rain, but I love the song by Prince ?
thanks, Jiji! PR is worth a sniff if you ever get the chance ?
Glad to hear that you are finally getting some much needed rain out there tiffanie!
oh, thank you, Jalapeno! The rain is long overdue and very welcome to hang around ??️
I can’t get over that gorgeous teapot! That’s the most beautiful one you’ve posted yet, Robin! What an eye-dazzler. I adore gigantic coloured gemstones! Reminds me of seeing golf-ball sized emeralds in Topkapi Palace. If you’ve got it, flaunt it!
My jewel scent of the day is the little-known Memoire de l’Amour from Notalgia Collection. Another syrupy rich scent with rose, plum, jasmine, and other fruits. Ripe or even overripe, but gorgeous.
I am so glad you like it! It is actually too much for me. A simpler teapot with that ruby handle on the lid would suit me, and still be comically out of my price range
Memo Lalibela
from a decant from a gernous NSTer!
so pretty, to me a very cozy vanilla musk, reminds me something in a lot of DSH scents.
Lalibela! ?
Ditto!
It’s so lovely!
SOTD is SSS Bee’s Bliss, thanks to the lovely pixel.
Tea is Taylor’s English Breakfast.
Will be off to see Emma. with a neighbor friend. Why did they add a period at the end of the movie title?!?
Dumber reason than you would expect!
http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2020/02/emma-director-autumn-de-wilde-explains-why-there-is-a-period-at-the-end-of-the-movie-title
Ugh! That crossed my mind, but I thought, no, surely they wouldn’t do that. Guess I was wrong. Thanks for the link! ?
You’re right, dumb reason. I thought it might be more artistically chosen to indicate the final or definitive version of the work.
Like an exclamation point, but less LOL. Nope. Just a period piece.
It’s described as an interpretation or something, so it couldn’t purport to be definitive.
Oh, do report back if you can! I want to take my girls to see that next week when my college daughter is home. It looks fun.
I recommend it! It was a bit slow in the middle, but definitely worth seeing. The costuming was really great.
Thanks! I will put it on our watchlist!??
Oh, I was ignoring this new Emma, but now I see Bill Nighy is Mr. Woodhouse. I will have to see it.
Robin, he is awesome in the movie, quite funny!
Yay
Wearing what is favorite leather perfume, Cuir Ottoman. As long as I don’t tire of leather scents, I’ve got two more acclaimed leathers lined up for tomorrow and Thursday.
I’m minimally less tired than I wad yesterday, so that’s progress?
This year’s time change has really been tough for me. So annoying. Also, when I am so tired in the morning, I tend to eat too much for breakfast, which only makes my sluggishness worse.
I’ve had a hard time the last few years. Maybe my internal clock has gotten stronger as I’ve gotten older. It doesn’t like to adapt.
Same here! Yesterday I ate my usual breakfast then grabbed half a bagel for no reason other than it seemed like a good idea ??? hope you are feeling a little better each day.
Love Cuir Ottoman! You smell wonderful! Now Wake Up! ?
Hehe I’m trying! Definitely doing better than yesterday so that’s something.
I’m flat out on the couch this evening, something I rarely do. It takes me about a week to get over the time change, but like you I think each day is better than the last ?
Yes, at least a solid week for me also, sometimes two!
What a gorgeous teapot Robin!
I missed the CP last week but I had an entire weekend of ‘The Dude’ at Daytona bike week.
I spent the majority of it in Ma Bete by Eris just to drive them wild (ha!), it is a cherished sample and this one goes on my ‘must by’ list.
Ah, hope you had an entire week of fun and good weather too!
That teapot looks fabulously shiny. It is totally NOT to my taste though.
SotD is Bottega Veneta edp.
One of my favourite discoveries from last year. And I love the bottle design, even the 30 ml is so cute.
Just a quick pop-in to see how everyone is,and I made myself chuckle out loud….
I read your comment on the teapot as “fabulously shi*ty” at first, for some reason….hahahaha!!
Old age,my eyes are going rapidly.Lol!
Happy Week All!
Stay safe and wash those hands!!
XO
?
Haha, well those are definitely words i could say out loud in a conversation, but here at NST I always try to behave. ?
But sometimes you just read what you want or need to read ?
Hi Johanob, so good to hear from you!
You stay safe as well!
Hermessence Cedre Sambac
Ah, you smell great Barqs!
Ohhh, that tea pot! It’s seriously gorgeous. My SOTD is Skin Musk by Parfums De Coeur. Musks are my most frequently worn genre lately and this is a very close dupe to Opal by Sonoma Scent Studio (that I adored too, by the way).
Well the good news is my doctor ordered two inhalers and a round of antibiotics. I hoped to avoid the antitiobics but after three weeks, it was time to give in and take them. Hopefully, this cold will improve..
I hope you feel better quickly now.
I feel your pain…I am heading into week 4 and am only now seeing some improvement–and this is after a round of antibiotics and various other home/doctor remedies. Sending healing vibes…..
Oh jeez, you’ve been thru the ringer! I am glad to hear you are on the mend. Between the cold, allergies and potentially closing campus (which is a good thing), there is so much in the air right now it’s all rather exhausting.
I’ve made up my mind to do what I can (yoga, hot tea, prescribed meds, rest) and not worry about the rest.
I hope that the meds do their thing and you are feeling better soon SmokeyToes!
In generous spritzes of Santal Nabataea – wheeze, cough – perhaps too many. I don’t know that I have any blingy scents (saving one for Friday), but this one is definitely noticeable! Maybe this should be Sandalwood week for me.
Robin, chiming also to say that I’d love to hear a few thoughts on Ombre.
I did write something above!
Today’s SOTD when I finally get ready for work will be PureVanilla. Not sure if I can participate in the community project on Friday, given that I have a couple of co-workers who are migraine prone; if I could, I would wear Bottega Vennetta. Stuff is strONG, but I always feel like a million bucks when I wear it.
Not worth giving anybody a migraine!
I’m wearing vintage Bellodgia this morning, and hoping to get outside and do some moss removal from the driveway. It’s been so wet here, and yet we are still five inches short of normal precipitation by this time of the rain year.
That teapot is outrageous! I wonder, if I Bedazzled a Goodwill teapot, would it have the same impact? Probably not…
I like that thought…..but I can also see a “Pinterest Fail” version if I tried it.
I’m sleep deprived today due to poor sleep for the past two nights. A pox on DLS.
I went with White by PD today. I think it’s as blingy as a musk scent can possibly be.
That teapot looks like an ornament. Not my style but it sure draws my attention.
Me too, Petunia! I was up at 1am, eating things that I shouldn’t.
?
Ohhhhhh do you smell fabulous.
I needed some liquid sunshine to combat my inner gloom, so I’m in Ostara today.
My workplace has just now gone on a recommended work-from-home policy because of the spread of Coronavirus, as has much of the Bay Area by now. Now, my fiance and I are both working from home, but we only have the one office–so he dropped by his office, picked up another monitor, and has set up a secondary office for himself on the dining table. At least we have a couple months’ worth of food in our freezer.
I work at a Bay Area University, faculty & students are at home (staff are holding down the fort) and we are migrating to online instruction next week.
Hope it goes well!
I haven’t stocked up but honestly a) can’t afford to b) why cause myself that much stress lol. What was weird though is that I ordered bottled water from a grocery store, they said, sorry we are out. It’s the panic that concerns me a little. Ppl say they can’t buy tp and stuff..i saw a lady with a cart of hand wipes the other day. It’s like y2k part 2
I can’t afford to stock up either. And unless I set up a garage sale at my house, I am never going to work from home.
I WISH I could say that we stocked up on freezer food because of the virus scare. In actuality, what happened was that we bought a chest freezer some months ago, got excited out of our minds, and went on a massive freezer food shopping spree to fill said chest freezer with yummy and/or healthy foods (“A freezer is more stable and efficient when it’s well stocked!” the fiance argued, not unreasonably). We are treating this semi-quarantine as a good time to reduce our freezer stocks.
But yeah, we happen to be low on toilet paper right now, and goodness knows where we will find more.
We have one of those freezers too. We would have meat for weeks, but no toilet paper
Today I’m wearing Ostara, for its spring florals.
Hey twin
In a spritz of Chanel Paris-Riviera and wishing I was there. Still very slowly recovering from a sinus infection/cold. Trying to avoid the public and build up my immune system with Covid-19 lurking about. Everybody stay safe.
Sorry your recovery is slow jepster, but you’re wise to stay home!
In the very flowery gardenia/Jasmine Elie Saab Essence garden is, like is the case with my other four favourite garden has I own it has no tuberose, I’m very particular about it.
Sorry was typing quickly on my phone, it’s not garden but gardenia and ignore has.
It did take me a minute to get it
Trayee for me today, it’s a favourite and I’m in the mood for something rich and fabulous.
It’s incredibly fabulous and rich, although not very blingy!
I contacted Ouai about a faulty can of their dry shampoo foam I purchased (it kept bubbling out around the seam at the neck, which was not only wasteful but made me concerned the product was contaminated in some way), and they immediately sent me a new can along with a sample vial of their perfume, Melrose Place, which smells exactly like their hair care products. It’s a musky rose that is quite nice but not something I’d purchase, though I’ll use it up.
Decent customer service then, good to hear it!
I have a trial sized Ouai wave spray and find the rose scent to be too overwhelming. But, I guess people really love it so much so that it demanded a separate perfume! But nice on their customer service.
Coromandel today.
My brother was in Italy and now has to stay off work. He has difficulties to arrange a testing, all lines are blocked…. Hope he will stay healthy.
Our nearby hospital is nearly out of disinfectant and there is nothing to buy on the market. And our health ministry says that Germany is prepared well. What a joke! I hope we will get out of this soon
Fingers crossed for your brother’s health tannina.
Oh dear, hope he stays well.
As near as I can tell, the US isn’t even pretending we are prepared.
Yikes! I hope he avoids illness. I’ve seen price gouging in local discount stores: a bottle of rubbing alcohol for $15! Terrible how people take advantage of these situations.
That teapot is gorgeous, as bling as can be but I find it fabulously OTT.
I’m continuing my Amouage sample journey. Up to today I’ve been impressed by every single one, and a few I love to want more (hello Gold, Jub XXV).
Today’s sample is Fate Woman and this one is definitely not for me. There is one note that comes off downright unpleasant to me, I thought it was narcissus but I loved Au Dela Narcisse.
Now I’m thinking it might be violet leaf. Whatever it is, it is in Fate and it smells like a gas station bathroom filled with mothballs. Yikes!
Lol I wasn’t terribly impressed with Fate myself
Very thankful I did not get mothballs or gas station bathroom when I tried Fate!
I’m pretty sure it is justa weird flaw in my nose. I get the same sensation from Grey Flannel & a couple others.
Found a Tresor tester yesterday..applied heavily on my sweater..still enjoying the wafts today
PS..I can still save the princess on original mario bros lol.
???
Wow, that teapot is *really* sparkly.
Nothing yet perfume-wise. Perhaps I’ll go for something citrus-y. Yesterday when it was warm and sunny out, the bees were enthusiastically working on the mahonia flowers. Once it gets regularly warm out, I stop using lavender shampoo and cut down on wearing flowery fragrances outside.
On the one hand, I’m glad we have a good assortment of native pollinators for our flowering plants. On the other hand, I’m not a fan of being around things that can sting when I’m trying to smell the flowers. I don’t want bees and their stinging relatives to come to me to investigate whether I have pollen on my wrists.
My sleeping patterns were so messed up that I’m actually waking up “earlier,” going by the clock. lol.
I’ve been going out for grocery store and big box store trips, but would really rather stay near the house and get some gardening done on warm days. Our “soil” is shale and clay and more shale, so I’m planning on putting some perennials in pots around the front yard. I’ll put annuals in when it’s that season. Last year I grew four kinds of red salvia, to try to attract hummingbirds. I didn’t happen to see any at the salvia, but I saw one at the bee balm in the back yard.
Good for you for planting things that bees and hummingbirds like! Do you also plant things to attract butterflies?
Oh, yes. I planted a butterfly bush years ago, and have tried to grow butterfly weed every so often. I tried pentas one year, and generally end up growing various flowers that butterflies and skippers are interested in. I try to grow a lantana or two every year. Something that I hadn’t planned is that spicebush swallowtail butterflies also like sassafras, and we have several sassafras trees.
The tiger swallowtail butterflies really like tiger lilies and a number of other flowers I grow. The caterpillars of fritillary butterflies eat violet leaves, and we have a ton of wild violets. (Not planned by me.) We see great spangled fritillaries and the smaller ones on the garden flowers.
No bling bling for me today nor will I be blinging in Friday unless I think of something creative. I was seriously considering backing out of my vacation but I powered through and here I am in Houston! Newark Airport was like a ghost town at 8am this morning and the plane was so empty I randomly picked an exit row seat and got the entire row, including across the aisle to myself! 9 people from our group dropped out so we have a nice and small intimate group of 10, including the travel director. I love this size group but wish it was not because of people dropping out due to COVID-19. There were some people wearing masks and most of them were older seniors. While I wore Chanel No.19 EDP this morning, my scent was actually that of my eucalyptus + spearmint hand sanitizer.

I almost had a conniption this morning with the Uber driver. He picked me up from my house, I had carryon luggage (yes!) and when we got to the airport, he asked me if I intended to go to the parking lot. Huh? ??♀️
Wishing you a wonderful vacation!
Welcome to Houston! Warm and muggy today. Hope you enjoy the museums!
That hand sanitizer sounds like it would smell much better than the typical ones.
Enjoy Houston hajusuuri!
Strange Uber question ?♀️
I have enough time for a quick post & run, but will be back later to read comments.
SOTD = Iris Underground absolute oil parfum from Soivohle. Those 4mL bottles are the cutest little things! This is an iris & violet perfume on me, with the iris being on the floral side, not the rooty side. There is something in this perfume that brings to mind rain drops on a bunch of spring flowers, too. It’s been quietly humming along since this morning.
Sounds very pretty!
It is a lovely spring-ish floral that, yes, is quite pretty.
Your oil sounds lovely!
Good to hear your review. It sounds really nice!
Wearing SL Douce Amere for the second day in a row. That doesn’t happen very often. I originally had on Dior Joy, which I’m liking more since I quit judging it, lol. It faded halfway through the day, and I had the SL in my purse. I’m not sure yet what I will pick for Friday.
Would Gucci Rush work?
That’s one of the one’s I was thinking of.
Went with Avon Sweet Honesty again. I really like this one. Although it must be many years old, it still smells sweet and very pleasant to me.
