Happy (teapot) Tuesday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm copying SheriG's Monday choice in Bruno Fazzolari Feu Secret. Tea at the moment is Kusmi Tsarevna, from a very old tin that I just can't seem to use up.
Reminder: 12/20 will be De-stress Friday (a repeat from 2014)...as we approach the holidays, wear something that keeps you tranquil and relaxed.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is the Cabas teapot from Bernardaud, about $438. "Bernardaud is partnering with another craft native to Limousin, artisan leatherwork, to create this elegant, contemporary tea pot. It has turned to J.M Weston to make the leather handle."
Cute tea pot Robin..
I am drinking my Jane Austen tea from S&V, a nice black tea with a minty twist.
Its another awful day here..
Inspired to wear more of my Chanels I asked over the weekend which was everyone’s favorite and a lot gave Coco as the answer so that is my SOTD. I am in all 3 forms, the EdT, EdP and a drop of the parfum.
I hope your weather improves soon! You do smell splendid, though.
Thank you! Coco has so many fans
Isn’t this depressing weather? Your tea sounds lovely, though, and you’re really fortified with a Coco shield!
You have no idea…I over-sprayed!
I am also trying to wear bright color to counter act the gray weather..
Good idea! I’m wearing navy/black, but I do have a purple umbrella with butterflies on it ?
Oh, you smell great. House twins today. And it’s clear and sunny at last in the Great Lakes region and it’s headed your way
Wow. You smell awesome!
Riviera is quickly becoming a favorite Chanel of mine. It’s very light, more of a skin scent, but great for days you want a little scent but not have to think about it.
Same here! And I just got another decant. I also thought it was a light skin scent, but I wore it the other day before going out, and my husband’s comment: “you have a lot of sillage, missy” ?
I haven’t smelled this one. Maybe they have at the new Nordies
Yep, it’s there!
Weather is dismal — dismal enough to call for a $400+ teapot, LOL…
Love that teapot. I’m wearing Mon Guerlain, which I adore.
Drinking Charlotte au Chocolat by DF.
Do you like Kusmi Robin? I love the design of their tins and the look of the shops, but the actual teas not so much. Some of the Russian blends are nice enough, but not quite nice enough to justify a purchase.
I feel the same way about Kusmi tea..I have tried some (at friends) but was never moved to by a tin.
Speaking of tea..Austenfan I know you love MF. My neighbor is waiting for a list of tea that she can buy me from MF when she goes to Paris this week. I am open to your suggestions.
If you like Earl Greys:
Earl Grey Provence ( an EG with lavender)
Earl Grey d’Or (a good quality Assam with a nice bergamot)
In the sweet category I love Wedding Impérial, Black Orchid, Thé de Lune, Phénix
Spicy: Noël, Chandernagor
Fruity: Marco Polo, Montagne d’Or
Jasmin: Jasmin Précieux (a jasmin oolong) and Brume de Jasmin (a jasmin white tea)
In the flavoured green tea category I love: Bel Ami, Festin d’Or, Lune Rouge, Vert Provence, Thé des Impressionnistes and probably a few more.
I like a few. They do a really good spearmint green tea, although generally speaking I can mix an equally good one much cheaper so it is not a staple.
The buffalo grass black tea (Zoubrovka) really grew on me — did not like it at first, in fact IIRC I sent it to Kevin and he didn’t like it and sent it back. If I do another Kusmi order, I’ll buy that one again.
I like a cup of the Violette once in a while — I probably go though a small tin every 2 years or something.
I like a pinch of Anastasia mixed into a regular Earl Grey…adds brightness, but on its own it’s too soapy for me.
The Tsarevna, no, I have probably had this tin 5 years or more? I should have given it away. Supposedly they have reformulated the tea this year but I doubt I will take a chance. But generally speaking I do not like sweet flavored black teas.
Their chai is unusual, with lots of bay, but it is not my favorite chai, just nice for a change.
So, overall, it is not my favorite place to buy tea. Most of my tea comes from Upton, with a few from Harney, Mariage Freres, Palais des Thes, Tea Trekker, Ten Ren.
Can I throw in another tea recommendation?
Smith’s Tea, from Portland. They do loose and bags, but I’ve only done bags (I know loose tea is better in so many ways – but I’m just too lazy!!).
I found out about them because the hotel I stayed in in Portland had their tea – and now I’m a loyal customer!
Those boxes look familiar…I think a market near me might sell those teas. Thanks!
I’m testing Moon Bloom. It’s lovely, but not a must-have because the opening reminds me of Fracas and the drydown reminds me of Terracotta and I like both of those better.
Money saved! But I think you smell great
Omnia for a day trapped in a room with a lot of people…
Fracas is much better in those situations…..
Fracas might clear ME out! ?
those lucky people! I love Omnia
They ARE lucky! It’s one of my favorite “go to” perfumes, too. Still considering BUB… even though I strongly dislike the bottle design??
I’m wearing L’eau Ambree because I read yesterday’s comments this morning and saw that Aurora wore it yesterday. This is such a good no brainer.
I’ve been noticing a lot of “I got this idea from the comments earlier this week” fragrance choices and think it would make a great CP!
When I am overly busy, it is really the easiest way to pick a fragrance! And great idea for a cp, adding to list.
And adding for long time regulars, another thing I do is look to see what I wore on this day last year or the year before. You can enter any date and find the scent of the day that way, as in
GASP that’s a good trick!
Totally! I love the idea of doing it for a CP.
You smell so good!
I wouldn’t mind another bottle of this one. I finished mine about a year ago but it’s not easily accessible.
I bought my manufacturer’s travel spray from FragranceNet a year and a half ago. I wonder if they still have it.
So happy to have inspired you. You smell delicious.
I’m in B683 today, while mourning a broken decant. I was unpacking my gym bag this morning and bobbled my decant of MMK CPLS, and it shattered on the granite countertop. When will I remember that I have butterfingers in the morning?!?
Ah well, I have the best smelling kitchen trash can in the neighborhood. ?
RIP CPLS ? I’ve had that happen a few times as my bedroom is basement level and has ceramic tile floors. The worst was losing a decant I was getting ready for a swap (Alahiiiiine!) ? Fortunately, the swapee was a very understanding NSTer ?
I hope you can get a new one if you loved it!
Gah, ceramic tile! No forgiveness there, sadly. I’ve dropped 1ml glass vials on our tile floor and they’ve survived. I guess the lighter weight saved them. There’s always that gasp of breath when you realize it’s *falling*.
I’m a morning butterfingers too….it’s usually coffee that ends up all over…
Yeah, I’ve worn Eau de Milque Tea a time or two.
Aww, R.I.P. Hate it when that happens.
I feel your pain.
I think we all fear such accidents! Sorry for your loss!
I’m so sorry about your decant. I try to open boxes and manipulate perfume over my bed, just in case…
Adorable tea pot! I just put on the water for a cup myself.
SOTD: Winter Palace
This scent is exquisite, especially the opening which is a burst of citrus and tea. It’s a shame it’s so pricey but I will say it’s got great longevity, easy to wear (I can see it being a year round scent) and just a delight to wear. It reminds me of Tea for Two but only just slightly.
Winter Palace seems to get a lot of love… My taste for tea scents developed late, but it’s definitely continuing….
I will say the dry down is heavy tonka and much more like TforT.
I have fallen head over heels for Winter Palace. That’ll be my pick for the best of 2019 project, hands down.
I so want to try Winter Palace sometime. I’m a huge fan of Tea for Two, which is much more affordable. If they are similar, maybe I should just leave WP well enough alone!
It’s a lovely scent, for sure! And that bottle…but for now, I’ll savor the sample I have.
Gris Clair for another grey day with cold rain.
I was successful in at least getting my Kris Kingle gifts yesterday: a metal, enameled soap dish shaped like a footed bathtub with a bar of rosemary-mint goat’s milk soap, Swedish dish towels which look like dehydrated sheets of something that absorb water, along with a snarky button. And the David Bowie ornament as a host gift. It is pretty creepy looking, but in the best, kitschiest way IMO, lol:
Perfect rainy day scent and it’s calming, too.
It is, and I will need lots of calm this week!
I will trade you your rain for my snow/ sleet/ freezing rain which is making the roads treacherous for driving. ?? Winter is here!!!
I’d trade for snow! You can keep your sleet and frozen rain, lol. I don’t have to drive, so I prefer snow. I can’t stand having to walk everywhere feeling wet and cold ? Be careful driving!
Okay passing the snow to you ☃️⛄❄️?
It’s still raining ???☔?
Sorry Elisa!! But after almost three hours of non stop shoveling by hand wet snow/ice/slush off our driveway I would gladly trade the snow for rain…. any day ?❄️⛄??
Prada Infusion d’Oeillet for me today. A spicy floral with a bit of fire.
I’ll have to try that one. Looking for a carnation that reminds me of my first bottle of perfume.
Sampling Gelty as Charged from Smell Bent. It amused me to have a scent to match going to jury duty. Got excused so now I’m headed home
Perfect match, and congrats on doing your duty and being sent home!
It would have been so fun if someone had asked what you were wearing.
I am wearing Violet Beauregarde from Providence Perfume Co for a morning of wrapping presents.
Good for you getting it done early!
Quite cozy in DSH Cimabue.
Tea of the day is Apple Gingerbread from 52Teas. A rooibos/honeybush tea that’s nice and seasonal. Together these two are quite festive!
Yum! I think I’ve got something similar I need to pull out.
Plus! time for some eggnog.
I try to not buy this too far out as it’s too tempting and so unhealthy.
I usually like the idea of eggnog more than the drink itself. I have one mug around Thanksgiving and then I’m good till next year.
Thanks everyone for your kind words about my stubborn mother yesterday. Humor really helps.
It’s a beautiful day in my neighborhood, wearing Allure edt because it smells happy to me. I’m not a tea drinker but that pot is very cool.
Hey House Twin, I have to dig out my Allure
You smelled wonderful today.
Pure eVe again and probably all week.
And now post shoveling wearing Lyric
Ha ha!! The winter nightmare shoveling starts earlier and earlier every year. I am going to be so sore tomorrow!!!
And for us, it is later and later….
You have my sympathies!
In Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka. Beautiful and relaxing on me.
Heading in a few minutes to the first holiday party at work. Then, tonight I will be meeting some family members who are in town for the holidays. We will go out for holiday dinner together. Looking forward to some nice and fun time with them.
Yay! Sounds fun, enjoy!
Thank you, Lillyjo!
You’re smellin’ mighty fine!
Thank you! ?
You smell gorgeous.
Hope you had a nice dinner!
We had a very happy time!
Hermes Poivre Samarcande for me, I find it smooth and relaxing, it’s kind of my “incense” scent.
I find Tuesdays to be the hardest day of the workweek. I can get myself geared up for Monday, but Tuesday always has lots of meetings and the work week still stretches ahead. Wednesdays I generally work from home which is lovely and then Thursday and Friday are a little more low key at work and I’m able to accomplish at least a few things.
I love that one!
Its so peppery and spicy, it wears close to the skin on me
I also love that one, but it is barely a skin scent on me.
Last night wasn’t a great night. My parents have a Fire Stick on their TV and I have one on mine. I was watching something on mine but my mom hollered up and said she wanted to watch the Marvelous Mrs Maisle. Then I went to Netflix to watch something and got a text from my aunt to get off Netflix because she wanted to watch something. I don’t watch a lot of TV. I think it’s time to get my own Netflix account then I don’t have to deal with this stuff. I was working on unclogging a wonky Epic spray bottle and accidentally sprayed myself in the eyes. I was crying and for a few hours, everything was pretty blurry. Water and eyedrops helped with the pain and some of the blurriness. I am getting in the shower to wash off the Epic and go with either SDV, Havana Vanille or Vanilla Flash today.
Ouch in spraying yourself in the eyes! I don’t have Netflix and probably never will since I’ve barely taken advantage of the nice offerings on Amazon Prime, let alone what I have on cable.
Dang, Dawn.. I hope your eyes get back to normal soon. That sounds pretty painful.
Can you only use one app at a time even with two fire sticks? We use Rokus and have never run into that!
My mom said that something popped up and said not enough bandwidth and I had to get off. This is the first time we’ve had the two fire sticks going at the same time.
Ooooh it’s an internet provider thing then.
Hope your eyes are all better!
OMG, perfume huffing is a dangerous hobby. Sometimes those bottles attack with a vengeance. I hate it when I can’t see the sprayer hole and I spritz my face. Ow.
I have done that too, now I feel for the sprayer hole with my fingertip before spritzing.
SOTD = L’AP Seville a l’Aube
Perfect antidote to this cold gray wet day that a whole bunch of us have right now.
I decided to just have lunch at Pret (a half sandwich and half a cup of chicken noodle soup). Two guys sitting next to me were discussing their work life. One was complaining about his boss (what’s new). (Honestly, Based in the examples he gave, I think his fire had died down and he has not been hustling and it shows.). Then he started to talk about compensation and bonus. “I negotiated for a higher base salary.” ???. “When I used to be in investment banking, the bonus as a % of salary used to be a lot higher.” wah wah. No sh-t Sherlock. Did you even consider the total $s instead of whining about %s? You now have a much higher salary (thanks to your great negotiation skills) so unless you brought in the $$s in a huge way and your company is making a lot of money and there are no other bright stars in your group, don’t except that % to keep getting higher.
En Passant today for cleaning this a.m. and a Judy Collins concert this evening.
Oh what fun, hope she is great!
I. Need. To. Work.
I have seven pages of total gobbly-gook and I can’t seem to face it. I’ve promised a clean version by the end of today…
In a weird but working unintentional combo of Baiser de Russie and Smeraldo. Wish I could say the same for my writing!
Okay, I am seriously procrastinating… totally off topic opposite of rant: I have just had two amazing customer service experiences… something must be in the air. Ordered a really expensive Patagonia nano puffer hoodie thing in bright orange for my son who is challenged crossing streets–it was on sale, but still really pricey. The package seems to be stuck in the NC doldrums and hasn’t left the PO for over week (sent from VA to CA). I emailed the company last night about it. By this morning they had sent another, expedited shipping, one that is not on sale, no questions asked. The second experience was with a gourmet charcuterie company. I called to find out if I could add $30 of something to an order I made a while ago, due to be delivered next week at my FIL’s. There was no way to bill me for the item so the company just added it gratis. Hmmmm…
I really have to face this mess I am writing, but maybe first I should go buy a lottery ticket… or at least shop for perfume online…
Awesome customer service! I didn’t think it existed anymore.
I think procrastination is part of the creative process. It will be great!
I had a lovely cs experience last night – went to a concert, had managed to buy two tickets no next to, but behind each other, and they saved me two tix that were indeed next to each other when I showed up at will call. (it was pretty much sold out).
Sampling frags would be an excellent procrastination strategy.
Now go finish that work!
Something must be in the air! I had similar experiences with skincare products, one was a product that didn’t work but I wanted to return, the other was a mis-shipped product (I didn’t receive the product I originally ordered).
In both cases, they let me keep the items, free of charge and shipped replacement products.
I think I’ll purchase a lottery ticket tonight…
Wearing Caron’s Parfum Sacree to book club this afternoon. Mmmmm.
Ooo, I love that Feu Secret, but always forgot to wear it. You smell lovely. I am wearing Kerosene Copper Skies, which maybe fits the de-stressing CP (which I was unaware of)… certainly I find it sort of calming.
Erin! I was just thinking about you. Hope everyone is well.
Horrible wet and windy day here – what happened to last week’s summer?? I will wear Neroli Outrenoir to remind me of warmer climes
I’m in ENTIRELY more HG Moon Bloom than I intended today after I accidentally upended an entire sample down my arm this morning.
It’s hella gorgeous so I’m not complaining, just hoping my coworkers don’t object!
Joining an NSTer — in this case, madtowngirl from last week — in 10 Corso Como ’cause there’s just no way I can beat that!
(Is it still really only Tuesday today? Yesterday was at least 24 hours longer than it should have been…)
Ooh, you smell great! I will probably wear that one again this week.
Agree about yesterday being 24 hours longer than it should.
We have a cold (for us) but gloriously clear and sunny day today here. I wish I could send some sunshine out to all of you! Yesterday we had the dismal weather, though it was freaky because it started out warm (84 degrees!) and went down to the 40’s by about 7 p.m. with a lot of wind and some rain. I kind of enjoy having a bit of chilly weather around Christmas.
So, I called yesterday for an appointment with an audiologist. They had a cancellation for this morning and I went in and got tested and–ta ta–I now have hearing aids! I have had hearing lost for a long time and really should have done this sooner. It’s going to take some adjustment still but they are quite comfortable and really don’t show (that is, my hair covers them up). I had a bit of insurance coverage and they have a payment credit plan that I took. After too many years in the classroom of having to ask (women) students (especially) to speak up, I feel sorry for not acting before now. I was prompted into this by reading up on the links research have established between hearing loss and dementia or cognitive decline. That scared me into it. So, if you’re thinking about this, I’d like to encourage you to pursue your options!
PS: Here’s an article link: https://www.aarp.org/health/brain-health/info-07-2013/hearing-loss-linked-to-dementia.html
PPS: SOTD is Indult Tihota. Tropical wonders for a chilly morning.
My mother just got hearing aids and when I was up at her house I was able to stay in the room while the television was on for the first time in five years. She used to have the volume at 90 and now it is around 30…thank you modern technology!
Hear hear! (pun intended). My husband has finally started wearing his hearing aids when we watch TV together.
Arrived home at midnight last night. Today is cleanup day; laundry, groceries do some cooking; hubby has requested lentil soup. Sounds good to me!
I sprayed on Wrappings to inspire myself to deal with my suitcase.
Thanks for all the good wishes yesterday for the flight home. We even got the precheck thru security so that saved 1/2 an hour of standing around.
Did you go through Canadian customs before you left the U.S.? U.S. customs in Canada makes the flight home so much more convenient!
No, we went through Customs in Calgary.
The speedy line was for Security before the flight; the boarding passes were marked Pre TSA, so we got to go a separate line, right thru security quickly without standing in the long cattle-call line. It was great!
Glad you made it home okay!!
Thanks Kelly! Glad to be home; I sure missed my good pillow!
Hi all, my SOTD is Henry Jacques Femme parfum. I’ve been under the weather of late, this oakmoss, carnation, iris, geranium, and patchouli bomb is providing just the comfort I require.
I was doing so well with my no-buy until I discovered a bottle for sale and POOF! Money gone.
It looks like I will have sins to confess to Donatella this year.
My boss gave me a wonderful assortment of nuts, dried fruits and teas as a Holiday gift, so my cup I’m sipping this morning is Gunpowder Green Tea – smoky and very smooth.
That’s a nice gift! I like gunpowder tea.
Robin, I’ve never tried it before, it’s quite nice!
And goes nicely with mint! (Moroccan mint tea is often made with gunpowder)
Glad you are feeling better, the perfume sounds very worthy!
The forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning is stressing me out, since I will be driving to and from work. I chose Alien Taste of Fragrance as my sotd. My reasoning is, in case I get stuck, I don’t want to be stuck in a “it’s just ok perfume ” It has to be fabulous, and it is! I’m such a nut job.
That makes complete sense!
But sorry about being stressed out. I would be, too ?
You are my kind of nut job! Good luck with the road conditions and weather
Good luck! Your perfume selection was perfect!
I hope your roads are all clear! Winter sucks!
Always go for the very best perfume when times are tough. Good call!
Alaia again, still no thunk…. Now in Ariana Grande Cloud from splitting a bottle. Boyfriend cut um our biggest pumpkin, Now we have 10kg pumpkin in the freezer.
Black coffee in bed! Thanks Lillyjo.
I was up at 2am to drive my son home from a party….the other side of town, which, at 2am is a ten minute drive! Beautiful lights reflected on the harbour, scudding clouds and moonlight. Cold and grey today with visitors coming to stay, and I still haven’t started xmas shopping. Need something perky but going with Interlude while I make up my mind.
“Scudding clouds” = two of my favorite words. Too bad there’s not a perfume by that name.
Almost didn’t make it over here today! I enjoy seeing what everyone is wearing too much to miss….
Counting down to Christmas in Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit!
You smell yummy!
Scent: Another day of Jour d’Hermes Absolu and CdG Kyoto.
Tea: Republic of Tea Peppermint Chocolate
Reading: really enjoying the Libby app to download to my Kindle. Also, Project Gutenberg – for someone with a tech background, I *really* took my time exploring Kindle book source options.
I adore Libby, best thing ever
I love that peppermint chocolate tea.
Scent: Eau de Dry Shampoo (this one’s by Nivea, smells like all dry shampoos). If anyone has recs for fragrance free dry shampoo, let me hear them! I plan to spritz on Hdp 1899 in a moment, I am taken by their line and had fun using up a sample of Marquis de Sade these past two days.
Tea: Underbrewed Barry’s Tea. It’s my 3rd cup, so maybe I’m all tea-d out!
Oh dear, I drink a lot of tea. I’ve usually had 3 cups before lunch.
I’m in Molton Brown Bizarre Brandy today. 7 AM dentist appointment and moving boxes cannot diminish the steady hum of well being that surrounds me. Love this perfume. Thanks, hajusuuri!
That’s a ringing endorsement!
Eau Premiere for a day of meetings and a work potluck. Omg, so much good food…macaroni and cheese, pulled pork, meatballs, cheesy potatoes, taco dip, lemon bars….I ate all of this, and more! My daughter finished her last final this afternoon and we actually talked on our cellular devices. One more day of work and I go to get her. Can’t wait.?
A feast! Glad you has a nice day!
Yay for the feast and your daughter being home soon!
It’s so sweet how much you enjoy your children. I actually got to have a good chat with my mother for the first time in a long time. Usually my dad gets on the line and monopolizes the conversation. So I called her when I knew he was out golfing.
It snowed early this morning which turned to sleet and finally to rain. My car looked like an ice sculpture. Unfortunately, It’s still raining so I think that I’ll need skates to get out of my door in the morning.
Relaxing SOTD was Chergui which always lifts my mood.
Be safe Petunia!
Ugh! Good luck tomorrow.
You smell wonderful.
Ugh, my sympathies. Be careful!
I seem to have pushed “repeat” for the weather and being late today! Also doing the same for my SOTD.
SOTD = Soivohle Incense & Myrrh oil parfum. It starts off a quiet incense that is very quickly joined by candied fruit on me.
That sounds good to me, do you enjoy it?
I do. At first I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t a huge incense beast on me. But this is a perfume oil, and I suspect it has a large percentage of natural scent components. So it wears close and quiet on me. And for some days, that’s exactly what I need.
Lots of running around in cold rain today. Thankful for very warm offer that lets me just wear a cotton shirt and be warm. Gift shopping…fairly successfully. Only one small thing for myself. (Not counting the lovely chair massage at the local nail salon…)
Big bowl of homemade soup and sourdough toast. Ahhhh….
Kelly Calèche parfum today. And just now a spritz of Bizarre Brandy (thanks hajusuuri!) to warm me up even more.
I see I am going to have to get that Bizarre Brandy!
Checking in late today – spent most of the day in the kitchen, baking. I’m making a Hummingbird Cake. Both it and I – because I’m wearing Palo Santo – smell marvelous.
Mmmm Hummingbird Cake!
Mmmm Palo Santo!
Almost finished the decant of Bois d’Argent which has worked well both for office and evening.
Well, at least I’m commenting before midnight. lol
Used pumpkin pie spice sugar scrub in the bath again. Allergy-prone person that I am, I just used that on my arms and legs, and used my regular soap elsewhere. The crooks of my elbows were itchy for a bit, but that seems to be fading.
After my bath, I tried Demeter Fresh Ginger to see if that was soothing, as I like the scent and taste of ginger. I did a few sprays on my forearms, and it seemed quite a realistic scent to me. The scent of the spice is crisp, and it’s got that funky quality that ginger has. It’s fading some an hour or two later, but that’s just as well.
I love ginger. I should try that one!
I had a yen for Shangri-la from Hiram Green so that was my SOTD. It became almost undetectable by 6pm, so I added some labdanum oil, a 10% dilution. Now I smell like a root beer cookie.
That sounds good! Root beer cookie.
Late to the party as usual. Just can’t get used to this Pacific time zone thing.
Shalimar edp today, Eau D’Epices yesterday. Both cozy. I may do Shalimar again tomorrow, maybe the edt or extrait. It does comfort me- in fact, I spritz before bed a lot of times.
Last call! I wore Heeley Cardinal today. Will top off with some palo santo oil before bed.
Do you recommend a palo santo oil blend? Thank you!
I tried to make my own, it was a disaster, so I use the body oil version of Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s Be the Shaman.
