Today is a honey day, I’m in Demeter Beeswax. I have both Honey and Beeswax from Demeter, but Beeswax smells the most like real, raw honey. One of my favorites, probably because it is less sweet than you might expect.

I have actually only had the Jewish American version, which is usually twisted with chocolate or cinnamon. The original Russian / Polish babka was more of a plain yeast cake.
Can’t stop wearing my Inoui sample – just a dabber swiped across each wrist and I’m in heaven. I think I’ll wear DSHPerfumes Cimabue for Friday.

We’ve got a brilliant clear cool day today–just 46! I love it! Makes it feel more Christmasy to have it cooler. I’m going to a special art installation event later this morning and looking forward to seeing some old friends there. My kitty Fizzy did very well in his dental surgery yesterday. He didn’t want to eat last night but ate a nice breakfast this morning and is acting less doped up. My SOTD is SL Rousse: cinnamon, orange, cloves–definitely like the holiday smell of a nice pomander, if not quite something to eat (but it might be)!

What did the surgery entail? Glad he’s eating ?
He had stomatitis, and had all of his molars removed. His teeth were rotten and receding, breath bad, etc. He has lost two pounds in the last year. They were able to keep his four canines, so now he has fangs! This morning he ate very well, but his mouth is swollen and he looks dopey still.

I’m in TF Noir de Noir today, from a sample. Lots of vanilla and amber to my nose. Very nice, but I can’t help thinking that Geisha Noire is better.
Two medical appointments for the hubster today, a follow up with the orthopedist and another doctor to address the issues stemming from the hip replacement. It’s been three weeks today. I think we’re both weary of all the running around. But we are slowly getting answers, which is good.

Buy some frozen Bridgford bread dough, my mom uses it to make cinnamon rolls.
I predict I will never make a babka, or any other sort of dough that Paul Hollywood would say did not achieve proper lamination

Should have gone with Angel Muse – then we could have been twins, Robin! Instead, I went with Hdp 1899 – which kind of works, maybe? I get an apple cider note. I like this one and must explore more of the line soon! If by chance anyone is looking for the Moulin Rouge scent, let me know – maybe we can swap since that one does not work for me at all.

Hello-lello! No perfume yet. My stomach is a little dodgy from the massive doses of antibiotics I’ve been on. Last night I spritzed myself with Acqua E Zucchero before I went to bed, which felt like a charming sugar dusted pastry pillow all around me as I drifted off… but when I woke up a few hours later it was like being trapped inside a cannoli.
I have a first draft of something difficult to tackle today–trying to get myself in the zone. Ambient scents are a lit Paddywax’s John Steinbeck candle and a turkey and root stock I am making, wafting from the kitchen.

I did wonder why there was a photo of deer antlers but maybe it is national deer antler day which wouldn’t be the weirdest thing. But now I am just hungry and wondering why I have never eaten babka, or why I don’t eat it every day for the rest of my life. Wearing Twilly layered with Marrakech Intense while I plan the day.

We started off the day overcast and gray. We had a minor snow storm, just a few inches. I put on Beige earlier because it feels like liquid sunshine. Now the sun is out so maybe it was my good luck charm. ?

We got more than a dusting of snow and because I did not want to deal with slipping and sliding, I decided to work from home today. Thank goodness for flexibility!
Yesterday’s shooting incident in Jersey City was so unbelievably crazy. 30,000 students on lockdown. All the deaths (although not sorry for the perpetuators) from the police officer to innocent bystanders – ugh. We didn’t have company assets anywhere near the locations where this transpired but there were many worried parents.
Last week my daughter’s school was on lock down because a student made a threat and they found a gun in his locker. Parents were not notified until the all clear was given. I can’t even imagine.. I’m so thankful for the student who reported the threat before it could be carried out.
It is scary out there these days. I never had to worry about such things when I was in school.

Wow. Thank goodness for that student reporting what was heard / observed. Just curious, what is the school’s communication regarding incidents similar to this, whether it be a lockdown or God-forbid an active shooter incident?
The policy is to notify parents after a lockdown and the police investigation is over. In this case, they took the student into custody and he is immediately expelled from the district. They don’t want parents coming down and trying to take the kids while in lockdown. We are notified by robot email and calls. I believe the set up is the same for active shooter.

I’m in Hiram Green Dilettante and loving the incongruity of the bombastic white florals with the gross grey gloom of Seattle today.
My partner hated this one instantly also— I think they might actually be having a reaction to something because they’ve really liked me in Yes I Do and some other white florals in recent memory, so further investigation is required. I like it when my partner doesn’t hate my fragrances, but I also don’t want to give up florals entirely!
My husband dislikes the majority of my perfume. If he doesn’t complain, I consider it a win! I’ve learned to wear what I like regardless but I am more careful of the dose when we are together.
I usually don’t get any comments on my fragrance from my husband. My female friends are more likely to notice what I am wearing in that regard.
Any hot yoga fans out there? My niece wants to go to a class (supposedly an hour):. I’ve done yoga off and on for years, but am not that great if I do say so. I usually do it in the comfort of my own home so no one is judging.
The enthusiasm for hot classes eludes me entirely (and I like all other manner of practices). Good luck if you accompany your niece, and let us know what you thought!

Be sure you are ok with extremes in temperature. I love yoga and I love saunas, but hot yoga just makes me dizzy. Might be because I already have low blood pressure.

Good call – I get nauseated and faint when I get overheated so I would never do hot yoga. I also have low blood pressure.
Yeah, then I think it’s best not. I can sit and sweat in a sauna, but moving my head about — especially forward folds — just doesn’t work for me in high temperatures.
Still having fun with Demeter samples. I must have like two dozen of them. lol. Scent of the moment, because I don’t think it’s going to last super-long, is Creme Brulee. Very sweet, a little bit of the “right kind” of burned scent. Quickly turning waxy, and then I expect it will fade away pretty fast.
So how long did your SOTD last?
I washed my wrists off before dinner, but at that point, I was still getting some of the fragrance a couple hours after I put it on. I’ll probably put on a vanilla or chocolate scent tonight.
I’ve been congested on and off for some weeks, so sometimes it’s hard to tell how much a fragrance is lingering on me. I made an appointment with the ear, nose and throat doctor for tomorrow to see if I “officially” have sinusitis, or just feel like I do. I’m usually pretty accurate about that, though, from experience. I don’t push myself too much when I don’t feel well, but try to rest when I need rest. I expect that antibiotics will clear my sinuses up quickly. I’m looking forward to feeling better.
I noticed I didn’t get questions about the “right kind” of burned smell.
I figure folks would easily be able to figure that I was contrasting it with the “wrong kind” of burned smell, and have their own ideas about the “wrong kind.”
Follow-up: Oddly, I didn’t have sinusitis. The ENT doctor said I was dehydrated from allergy medicine and told me to stop taking that. We’ll see what happens with that…
Not even a dusting of snow for me this morning, just odd patches of it. I noticed some on the grill cover, and splotches of snow on the roof. Good news on the water heater front: the part needed arrived this morning, and installation is scheduled for tomorrow!
SOTD = Kenzo Jungle l’Elephant. Lots of cardamom and vanilla in this today, and both of those scents do remind me of holiday baking/goodies. ??

My resolve was a scentless five days to reset my nose. The Universe has other ideas. Went over to help a friend’s mother in a retirement condo. The 3 floor trip seemed to take hours. Flanked on the left with yoot dew. Someone stopped us on floor 2, and enfiladed me from the right with more yoot dew! By the time we reached floor three, I was defeated and sent packing like R. E. Lee after Picketts charge. Once I got to the unit, I was tasked with digging out old Christmas stuff from the seventies which was strongly scented with some perfume pre 1985. As I was leaving, I noticed a sale of vintage jewelry including Taxco silver. Was really tempted as that silver can be .999, but resisted the urge. Caught a whiff of #5, and what may have been Lady Stetson.
I was feeling a bit festive when I left and strangely enjoyed the Chernobyl level assault of the coordinated yoot dew. Went across the street for pizza and met my maker. Too blonde, too many extensions, too much Botox, too much Bebe or whatever the kids wear today. Topped off with too much Coca Mademoiselle. Rotting roses mixed with sunny delight and some extry sweet, dank patchouli.
Weirdly enough, the little old ladies in their yoot dew and walkers came across younger and fresher.
This had me in stitches!

I have a bunch of them. One involves two elderly sisters on a quest to buy a case of booze, going on two wheels taking a sharp curve, and enough Tabu to choke a whale.
Great story! More please! I’d have had a hard time passing up the Taxco silver… I have a reproduction of a William Spratling Dragonfly silver and rosewood pin. How I love the .925!
The cool thing about pre ‘80’s Taxco is that it isn’t 92.5. Silver is plentiful there, and purer silver is easier to work than sterling. They had to mark it, so they used 92.5, but it’s more like 96.0. Navajo silver is usually higher grade than sterling as well.
No way I would have the ability to bypass the Taxco silver display.
Back again! Scent of the evening is TF Violet Blonde. I was able to get this today for perfume math free! If I don’t include my gas money, lol.
Last night I saw this posted on letgo. I couldn’t believe it, because usually all that is listed is body sprays or celebrity perfumes. Although, I did score my Dior Coffret from there..
Anyway, it was a little ways to go get it, so I made my H go and get it. I had verified as much authenticity as I could ahead of time, but still was nervous it would be fake. H says ” don’t worry, I will spray it, and if it stinks, I will know it’s real” lol.
It’s perfect. I’m very excited!

I’m in DSH Become the Shaman today, part of my internal adjustment to Santa Fe. We move in 3 weeks! It took 5 days to land a rental, and now I’m back home looking at all my possessions with suspicion. Moving always makes me temporarily ascetic.
