The last Monday in October, and International Animation Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm taking the chill off the morning (it promises to be warm later) with Serge Lutens Chêne.
Reminder: on 11/1, wear a fragrance with dried fruits, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I was thinking you were very early posting this, but my part of the world has just changed to winter time.
Anyway, you smell wonderful and we are house twins. I’m wearing Ambre Sultan. The temperature has dropped considerably over the weekend and it’s quite chilly outside. As it should be, it is the end of October after all.
Do you see huge flocks of starlings where you live, as it gets colder? I remember them in Germany. I am looking into Nuit Etoilee…very tempting following your suggestion
No, not so much where I live. I live very close to the coast, and there don’t seem to be many starlings in this part. I do know what you mean though. It’s a beautiful sight though, like this enchanting ballet.
Yeah, I was my usual late! And then ran errands most of the day so just getting back here. It was in the 70s and sunny, so I can’t complain! I will be your climate twin soon enough.
Doused in ISM today. So good.
It is going to be reliably freezing every morning for the foreseeable future. I need at least one walk crunching on fall leaves before it all goes away..
Yes it is so good!
Sipping Chai tea..
We had a very fun Diwali celebration yesterday evening and today I am so tired, and the kohl eyeliner I wore last night is giving me raccoon eyes today no matter how much I try to take it off..so I look and feel tired. More chai tea needed!
I am in Rituale today by Mendittorosa
Mmmm, more chai. Pass one my way.?
How is your grandmother
Thanks, I’ll take it!?
She is doing okay, considering….sleeping quite a bit and pain free. My mom has been with her everyday, I hope to see her this weekend with my college daughter. It’s hard being 250 miles away, technology has helped me to feel connected. Thank you for asking.☺️
Rituale is pretty wonderful
It is! Do you have a favorite from this line?
Hope the Chai helps! I got my decant of Le Mat—I’m still learning about it. The immortle (sp) is a note I have some difficulty with. But a bottle is very tempting, that’s for sure! Glad you mentioned this perfume.
You can always host a split, the bottles are so expensive.
I am sorry that you are having difficulty with it, but give it some time. I adore it. I have a few more sprays left in my decant before the thunk.
Yesterday I wore my BK lipstick to the party. Did you ever fix yours?
Keep forgetting about fixing it until I apply and the bullet is all wobbly. But I did wear it last week (lipstick) for some color!
I had the same problem flopper. It may have been a clash with menopausal heat…. ?I wanted to love it but… so I did a swap with a wonderful NST’er and it all worked out.
Good advice from LTSG.
Immortelle smells very slightly of yogurt curry to me I love it! But I love foodie scents in general.
Yes! Hot masala chai with PLENTY of hot steamed soymilk and honey! So perfect for a chilly morning!
I attended a Diwali festival at my local library some years ago and I remember the very talented Indian dancers who performed there. I also remember how crowded it was. My town, at least, clearly needs more cultural celebrations such as this.
Your IG pictures looked so beautiful! You have a beautiful family too. I am kind of clueless about this celebration, but we did see some fireworks stands open with Diwali ad signs!
Its just the triumph of good over evil, that is is basically the festival. We eat, do a puja and then have fun. Thats all!
I had fun dressing up, as you can see from my photos
L’Ete En Do-oooo-oooooooooo-oooooooo-ce!
You are rocking that new avatar BobH!
I looked up dried fruit on Fragrantica and was surprised to find how many scents with dried fruit that I had in my collection. First up is La Panthere from a sample. I always forget how much I enjoy this one.
Ha! I just did that exact thing, but sadly don’t have any. I was surprised at some on that list.
I will have to look it up too
I checked fragrantica and I don’t think I have any perfumes with dried fruit notes, so I’m in Safran Troublant.
It was noticeably darker this morning when I took my daughter to school and we have a chance of ❄️ this week. (I’m not gonna say the word yet lillyjo ?). This weekend was all about comfort food. Saturday we had grilled cheese and tomato soup and yesterday it was Mississippi pot roast. If you’ve never made one, I would highly recommend it, butter makes everything better.
We have a chance of the white precipitation this week too. Wasn’t it just July?
Your comfort food sounds delicious!
Yes, it was just July! But this fall has been going so fast for me, I hope the winter does too.?
Aww… thanks for being sensitive about my ❄ allergy
Expecting it also later this week.
I’m going to look up the pot roast, and see if it’s a recipe I can be trusted with. Lol
It’s pretty easy, just throw it all in the crockpot and let it cook. It’s delicious!?
High Five ST twin! ?
Woo hoo!? We smell great!
My hubs makes Mississippi pot roast- if it’s the same as what you’re talking about- with the pepperoncini? It’s delicious!! Though he uses a pressure cooker for pretty much anything that calls for a slow cooker (I can’t deal with slow cooker smells permeating every inch of a small-ish apt).
Yes! That’s the one, although I only use a half stick of butter and it’s still delicious. I can understand the smell thing, at one point yesterday I took the lid off to peek at it and smell, my husband walked into the kitchen and immediately said, “it smells like a fart in here.”? lol
Oh, no??! I hope that doesn’t come to mind next time he makes it!
Commando. Idk what I’ll wear. Maybe Le Mat, or Fate if that is delivered today. Happy Monday. ?
Hope your bottle comes today! It’s lovely!
Seconding that. I learned that delivered usually means to my little local PO, not my house. It is usually delivered to my mailbox the next day.
Thanks! I went to the PO since tracking said it was “available for pickup”. It wasn’t, ha, so it should be delivered today. As I was looking inside the sorting area, I am still amazed how right the PO usually gets the mail delivered day in and day out.
If you go to the PO on the day it is “delivered”, you can sometimes pick it up. Once the mail truck is loaded for the day, you have to wait for it to show up.
Did some sampling this morning, but will be wearing Montale Mukhallat for the day. It is such a weird scent, a cross between head shop, scented candle and bathroom freshener. Needless to say, it is not an everyday wear.
wow..I don’t think I would like that one
Ha! You had me at head shop, but then lost me at bathroom freshener.?
It’s only for a few minutes, mostly it is head shop/scented candle. But those few minutes are a bit disconcerting.
My thoughts exactly lol
I didn’t think Montale was my house but a friend recently gave me a sample of Jasmine Full and I really enjoyed it. I’m not a oud lover by any means but didn’t detect any in this one.
I just checked the Fragrantica list of dried fruit notes and am very surprised to see Rosine Un Zest de Rose on the list among others. The only one I have is Arabie so I’ll be a Lutens house twin today too. I’ll be ready to wear Arabie again by Friday
That Rosine is the only one I have for the CP…
Wearing OJ Ta’if for the date note so that I’m on theme. Enjoyed my Sniffapalooza weekend and liked I ❤️ YY as much as I thought I might from the description so I now have a bottle. Really liked some of the Cultus Artem scents but they are way out of my price range (unless I win the lottery)
AHA, that will probably be my plan for Friday.
I had the same thought and found a few others on Fragrantica.
Dried fruit notes pop up quite a lot in my collection – I’m thinking I might have to whip out SL Arabie at some point this week.
It smells so good today.
Like some fellow Arabie enthusiasts above, I am saving that one for Friday – so today, Vetiver Fatal and a monster cup of coffee.
I could sure use a monster cup of coffee. Settling for a cup of Earl Grey.
Had a power outage earlier and haven’t taken a shower yet. So I am still in Memoir right now. Since the power is back on, I will either wear Epic or Coromandel when I get in the shower in a couple minutes. I still can’t believe that the dogs had to spend 45 minutes just sniffing the yard before they decided to pee. I guess all the rain made everything smell different.
Oh, I feel you with the dog thing! The first five minutes I put the dog out of the van to potty, she spends at least five minutes with eyes closed, sniffing the wicked whipping winds up here. Rain or shine (mostly rain and snow!) she just stands there, sniffing, and getting soaked or frozen. Then, the place she decides to potty is JUST beyond the reach of the leash..! ?
A beautiful fall photo! Sadly, we seem to have stepped over then line into winter here. 25F and snow flurries…?
I’m in Saffron Troublant today from my mega bottle that still seems as full as when I bought it- a sort of magically replenishing bottle.
Happy Monday perfume people✌?
That is glorious! Also would be a great CP or poll topic – if you could have one bottle that magically refills itself, what would it be?
Ooh, what a GREAT idea for a cp!!?
Ditto this! ??
Yes, yes! Good idea for a cp!
I love magically replenishing bottles!
I’m wearing DSH Cordial as I crash into a manic week of prepping for a 2-week trip to Beijing and Seoul…. I’m so excited!! I will try to squeeze in some dried fruits before I go.
Really exciting! I hope you have lots of free time to explore and take everything in.
Regina that really is exciting! And two weeks, I am jealous.
First off, thanks to the folks who extended condolences Friday on the death of my MIL. Your kind thoughts are very much appreciated!
Scent: Hermes Un Jardin Sur le Nil. Partial credit for the mango note?
Have a great day!
I’m so sorry to read that (I missed it on Friday).
Hope your husband is going ok, that is really rough.
Aroma M Nobara Cha, which I haven’t worn in quite a while. Nice rosy, sandalwood warmth for a cool Monday.
In the last of my Gallivant Tel Aviv decant– billed as gold jewelry on tanned skin 70s glamour, to my nose it is more like a 90s summer fruity floral–makes me think more 90s off white power suit than Sticky Fingers jeans. Aggressively upbeat, it’s a mood changer. Unfortunately, only by spraying with abandon can I get it to last on my skin, and the first 30 minutes then are a bit overwhelming. Fortunately, however, I found it for a bargain on eBay, so I feel okay about its longevity issues… my bottle should be arriving next week
Have you tried Los Angeles yet? I have a sample but haven’t tried.
I haven’t, but I love the list of notes. Any perfume claiming to represent somewhere on the California coast that has eucalyptus as part of its scent profile is a must try for me. Please let us know your thoughts on it when you get around to testing it!
No school today, and a day off for me. We went out to the big mall. Stopped in Sephora and I asked for samples of Vanilla Vibes, TF Noir Extreme and Atelier Pacific Lime. She gave me the first two, and said she was out of sample vials. I didn’t really believe her, but oh well. So I’m wearing all 3 from the testers as my sotd! I’m gearing up for another lengthy call to AT&T. Then maybe a nap!
Oh those kinds of phone calls are the worst! Hope it goes surprisingly well for you.
It went ok, but I won’t trust what they said until I see the next bill.
I feel for you. I am steeling myself to call Verizon. I think that I’d rather go to the dentist. Nice samples but maybe you can bring an atomizer or two on your next visit! ?
I would call Verizon for you, in order to avoid the dentist!
I didn’t know you could bring your own atomizer.
We need to come up with a retort back to the liar! What’s the issue with AT&T if you care to share? I may be able to give you some pointers.
Well, long story short…
My promotional rate expired in May. I’ve been fighting about my crazy high bill, and was put on a new promotion for the month of October, to last 1 year. When the bill came, no promotion so I called back today and got it resolved supposedly. I will see on the November bill.
Trying Solstice Scents Master Bedroom notes are Soft Musk, Sandalwood EO, Amber, Clove EO, Somalian Myrrh EO, Vanilla, Aged Patchouli EO and Champaca Absolute
Witch’s Cottage notes are Warm Baked Goods, Dried Herbs, Sweet Annie, Soft Woods & Fragrant Hearth Smoke
Master Bedroom is quite root beery in a good way. Witch’s Cottage is sweet and spicy and not too herbal.
They both sound good, esp Master Bedroom.
I got my package on Friday but I got distracted with Sniffapalooza so the box is unopened.
I keep forgetting that Monday is alone-in-office day and that I could have spritzed up a storm. Instead, I am sedately wearing Ivoire EdP.
You smell classy, though, so there is that!
Happy Monday, guys and शुभ दीवाली
1) Sunny and picture perfect autumn weekend, with painted forests, fog and sunshine. Did some garden clean up; will be doing little by little this week to put the garden to bed (except for the winter greens garden) I learned a lot this year from my designed inaugural garden and from the cottage garden this year, and will be carrying those lessons forward.
2) Am in North Bondi, from Ouai on top of Fresh Cream Soft Suede. North Bondi by itself is VERY floral and woody- the FCSS softens and warms it. Perfect for a very sunny, very cold morning (30F upon rising!)
3) A hot masala chai with lots of honey- like I said, it is cold. Am in tights and a double knit dress and I think this is what I am wearing for the rest of the week, to be honest!
My husband and I took a walk this afternoon and he was in shorts…I think a first here for late October! Doubly weird because we are having a really good year for fall foliage color.
Your hot masala chai sounds good anyway though.
I seem to like this category of dried fruits and have enough for all week! Today I’m wearing Bois de Paradis, such a favourite! I don’t need an excuse to wear this one. Now, it’s perhaps not quite a dried fruit strictly speaking but it has citrus, blackberry, and fig (galore!) and I felt it belonged in this category. Fortunately, I still have about 2/3 of my bottle.
You smell beautiful!
Thank you! Here’s my plan for this week:
What’s in the bird? ??
It’s just there for a little added decoration!
Ha! You had me fooled. I thought it may be one of those Avon collectible bottles. Very nice choices for the week!
Hi all, SOTD is Eau des Jardins, by Clarins. I love the spicy/green notes in this one.
A coworker brought by his bottle of Byredo Mojave Ghost for me to try, I love the powdery/musky notes but it’s not FB worthy so $$ saved.
I am looking forward to my spin class tonight, I overindulged a bit (way too much Indian food) so time to pay the piper. Blood, sweat, tears, and disco music!
I like that Clarins Eau des Jardins a lot…and the others, too. Very versatile , great travel perfumes.
Have you tried the shower gel? It’s wonderful! Very zippy and refreshing!
Oof! Busy weekend, but I kept myself connected by checking the splitmeet. Am restraining myself for now… wearing Kelly Calèche EDT today. Kind of a Fall go-to for me.
Trying to complete some tasks before I report for jury duty on Wednesday. Ugh. Have an early breakfast tomorrow then think I’ll head over to get flu shot and tetanus booster.
I’m just gonna say it. i bought some new high-waisted jeans, bit of a wide leg. High-waisted is incredibly comfortable, especially for a woman my age.
I bought some Levis ribcage jeans and they are so comfortable. I love not having to yank up my pants to close the cold gap at the back anymore.
I just looked at the rib cage ones. Love them. Be curious to see how they’d fit me. Everything comes up higher on me in general.
So interesting, because I took a very long time to move to low rise and now I find them so much more comfortable that I’m resisting the return to high rise. Also, what’s the point, by the time I buy all those they’ll just move them back again.
Kanuka I just looked at those ribcage jeans and thought wow, not after that coconut rice pudding I just ate for dessert, LOL! If you say they are comfortable I will have to take your word for it, but they look so constricting.
Hi all, I’m in Trayee because all of my perfumes are in boxes, and even the one little decant of Passage d’Enfer that I thought I had protected from the chaos of the move has gotten lost somewhere in a box labeled “Bathroom.” Trayee is one of my EBPs at work, and though it has no dried fruits in it, it might as well. You all smell great today. (As you do every day.)
Moving is awful, but as moves go, mine went fine. They broke one of our lamps (my favorite ), and scratched our brand new hardwood floors a bit, but overall, things went smoothly. Mischief the Cat is adjusting surprisingly well, possibly because we gave her a whole bedroom, filled with her toys, water, food, a scratch pad, sweatshirts smelling of her mommy and daddy, a litter box, sunshine, and treats. She keeps walking around and bobbing her head in Explorer Mode.
Sounds great, minus the breaks and scratches. I can envision the head bobbing your cat is doing! They are so cute when they are exploring!
They are why do you think they bob like that? Creating a smellscape? A soundscape? I tried to look it up but couldn’t find anything useful.
Glad you are moved into your new house, but sorry about the damage.
I love the story about your kitty! When we moved into our townhouse we brought the cat over first and kept him in a closed bedroom while we unloaded everything. When we finally let him out, he did the head bobbing thing too! I think he was trying to cautiously get a sense of the new surroundings at the time; really funny to watch! ??
Thanks! Hehehe. We took video of our cat being silly She provides us with countless hours of fun.
I love the cat Head-Bob. About as cute as the cat Head-Bonk.
I adore the head-bonk!! My kitten is a demanding little girl, and when I’m working on my computer, she BONKS my arm vigorously to make me lift up my arm so she can jump up onto my lap
We had a long weekend with Labour Day but lots of rain, hail and thunder which left one dog trembling and cowering under my desk whi,e the other was completely indifferent. This morning i noticed that there were two dead sparrows (baby, no feathers) that have been evicted from their nests. I think they can’t survive the drenching rain. The rabbits also looked wet and miserable in the cemetery. But everything is so green and colourful: azelias, rhodos, kowhai, clematis and sweet scented air. It is the last week of school for my son…ever…only 4 more days in my entire life of waking him at seven. He has exams starting in 10 days and the. University next year and he will leave home ( but not the city). Wearing costume Nationale 21 and waiting for my Chypre Mousee package which might arrive today.
Does your son know yet what he wants to study?
Congratulations to him, he must be so excited!
I went with Datura Noir today. I seem to like wearing it on Monday. I guess it helps to ease me into the week.
Hope it works!
Finally made it over here to NST….a favorite Internet destination!
Wearing Ganache Lemon Éclair, one of my favorite gourmands that I’ve come across! Actually I sprayed it last night, and this morning it was still going strong…it’s finally fading away 16 hours later.
PS: I just opened the Ganache parfum page to see if they still made Lemon Éclair, only to see that something new is supposed to be happening….TODAY? What a coincidence; nothing is opening on the webpage as of yet….
If you find out, please report back.
Good afternoon! Scent at the moment is a couple of sprays of Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot. I’m in the “Is it a cold, or is it allergies?” mode right now, and I’m finding it a little strong, but my OTC allergy meds and Tylenol seemed to have cleared up a lot of the headache and congestion I had when I woke up.
I hope everyone else’s Mondays go as well as can be expected for a Monday. A few of you are already on Tuesday, so happy Tuesday to you!
Hope it turns out to be allergies! (I guess, that’s no fun either)
Well, thanks. (lol) I slept a lot today, and felt better after this afternoon’s nap. I’m going to count samples and small decants of fig fragrances in the dried fruit category, so I have several more scents to wear this week. Sometime when I’m out of the house, I’ll try a spray from a sample of OJ Taif.
SOTD = Jorum Studios Trimerous
It is as far away from Friday’s CP but it is early days yet!
Sinffapalooza was a lot of fun. I caught up with thegoddessrena and she was kind enough to let me experience her bespoke perfume from DSH: Slinky Carnation. Whoa❣️Or carnation with an animalic bite! Wowzers! I haven’t talked up my damage yet and I may never. Suffice it to say, they will be revealed in due course since they won’t all fit in one picture.
In other news, I posted 3 splits yesterday. The one for Coromandel Extrait is now closed. Spots are still available for Memo Paris Winter Palace and I am gathering interest for Hermessence travel spray sets. I need to check with the boutique to see if they are still offering the set of four where you can choose multiples of the same perfume since online only had the set of 8 and no ability to get multiples.
Now back to work so I can support my naughtiness!
That one from MEMO is my favorite looking bottle of their line (and the leopard was tough to beat!).
Donatella knows all. ?
Some will escape her notice, I’m sure ?
“Since they won’t all fit in one picture” Donatella high five!✋??
It was an epic weekend ?
PSA for lovers of Pacifica fragrances–On Sunday, there was an article in our paper, The Oregonian, that Pacifica is closing their plant here and laying off 75 workers. Manufacture will be done in the future by “independent contractors” which probably means somewhere in Asia. I don’t know if this means reformulation but I wouldn’t be surprised.
It’s cold and sunny here and I just put on some Mazzolari Lui.
Oh, very interesting, thanks!
Fath de Fath,it is fruity, but no dried fruits. And i thunked my decant. Today at work our accelerator refused to work at all, so lots of stress with all the patients that could not be treated. Hope the technician can repair it tomorrow. And because of that we have to treat our patients on saturday and work a day extra…..
Eeek. You may need Chanel No.19 EDP to get you through the week!
SoTD: Un Fleur de Cassie FM. I fell down the rabbit hole for this one and I haven’t worn it in awhile. It’s mimosa perfection and little more powdery (!?) than I’d remembered.
A really lovely photographical choice today Robin.
Smelling classy and beautiful!
Thank You Austenfan.
I thought I liked this when I first wore it. The next time I wore it, the cumin took over and eek!
I had the same issue. Cumin really amps on my skin.
Ah well, money saved for other beauties.
I think that picture is from Sonoma or Napa…the photographer has lots of wonderful autumn color pics.
I truly hope it wasn’t in the path of the wildfires. I will have to check out the photographer. Thanks
Jovoy Ambre Premier, not sure about the fruit but it could be hiding in there somewhere! This is a good example of how I get overwhelmed in perfume stores – I had gone to Fumerie on my recent trip to Portland to explicitly try Corsica Furiosa and the new Tauer. First, I thought I would not even try these scents in store and only buy samples (and focus on other scents instead), but then I was too tempted and tried them anyway, didn’t like them that much, didn’t buy the samples, kept sniffing and sniffing all kinds of scents and ended up buying 4 samples that don’t really work for me, but stood out against the “noise” in the store. Lesson learned! (maybe).
Ha…maybe is right
I was walking down a long hall here at the main hospital, and I slowly became aware I smelled something unusual and yet familiar – a couple of focused breaths and I realized I have encountered L’Aire du Desert Morocain, in the wild, for the first time. Two or three women may have been the bearer, but they were all long gone by the time I figured it out.
I will add that to my list – you know how birders keep a list of all the different species they have seen in the wild? Well, this is like that, except with scents.
My own scent today is an incense rose oil I had formulated at the little “Smells Good Cafe” in Grand Rapids when I was there last week. 4 parts frankincense, 4 parts a nice Nag Champa blend, 1.5 parts something called Somali Rose, a blend with Rose and some patchouli, and .5 part good sandalwood, probably Australian. After the clerk mixed it up for me, I smelled it, and was very happy, and offered her to smell it, and she said, “Oh, that does smell good!”, which was sorta nice, since she has a rather jaded attitude.
Oh how interesting! I am sure I have never smelled anything Tauer in the wild.
Your mix sounds wonderful.
Ugh, what a Monday. I’m having a very tired day but I smell lovely in Jacomo #8, which Fragrantica told me has a dried fruit note.
In 28 La Pausa, lovely stuff. Going to try the edp again to see how it compares. I remember the opening being heavy while the edt has that icy coolness.
And you have a bottle of the edt to enjoy!
Please tell us your findings!
La Pausa (edp) is good! It’s woodier, more powdery and lacks the light and coolness of the edt. I think it stands on its own. Possible future buy ?
Good to know. I have a decant of the EDT but have wondered if I should persue more when I run out. Thanks!
Musc Rav from a sample for a very chilly day. Spicy vanilla cat. Also, have had several cups of hot cocoa.
Yum. You smelled great today!
You smell fabulous.
Wearing Chergui tonight. It’s pretty good in the cool weather; I may have to reapply at bedtime! I have only a couple frags with dried fruits (according to Fragrantica) so it may be a non-compliant week.
Robin sometimes reminds us that participation is optional. Besides, you smell wonderful!
Thanks Petunia! And thanks for the ‘optional’ reminder as well.
I started the morning in No. 19 Poudre for a dental appointment, and resprayed when I got home. This one doesn’t last that long, but the reupping is so nice, I don’t really mind. ?
I love that one. You smell so beautiful.
