It's Tuesday, and summer is (unofficially) over. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Kenzo Air, the best licorice vetiver. My tea at the moment is Harney CTC Assam.
Reminder: on 9/6 we're doing Best in Class...you decide the category, then wear the best.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Kelvin Chen Back to School teapot is a decorative miniature (not a functional teapot). "Beautiful enamel over copper miniature teapot with a removable lid. The teapots are between 3 to 4 inches tall. Each piece is hand painted in brilliant colors and includes a silk box for storage. A certificate of authenticity is included and the piece is stamped on the bottom with the name Kelvin Chen and an edition number." $37 at Fun Collections.
Good morning Y’all!
Well, I’m a SUMMER gal…I love HEAT and sunshine and everything that is summer, so September is always a bit sad for me. BUT, I do love the holidays and fall/winter PERFUMES, so I refuse to let sadness overwhelm me completely! Plus, I do live in Atlanta, so summer could go into late October if I’m lucky…..
Wearing Bath and Body Works Pumpkin Marshmallow Latte and enjoying the heck out of it! Also used the shower gel last night. I don’t really get pumpkin at all….I smell like a Nilla wafer…..but it signifies fall and I love it!
I’m very tempted by some of those mini fall candles at B&BW. The fall ones are my weakness. Hope it stays summer where you are, as long as you’d like it to. Send the cold my way✌?
Oh my goodness….I LOVE LOVE LOVE BBW candles. But alas, my dear sweet hubby does NOT NOT NOT! LOL He will tolerate the apple cider one, but nothing sweet or foody. He’s a vanilla candle guy, and that’s about it.
That being said, I still have a couple of sweet fall candles that I burn when he’s not around…..
I have a weakness for B&BW candles also. Leaves, Pumpkin Carving and Cranberry Woods are my Fall favorites. I cannot burn candles when colder weather arrives and windows are closed, because I develop a bad allergy. But as long as windows are open I enjoy their spring, summer and Fall candles a lot!
Remember to watch for sales and coupons for those candles. Bath & Body Works often has good sales on items like that.
I struggle with their candles. But I absolutely love animal wafers, so would be happy to smell like one. Must try.
Just noticed spell check changed to animal from ‘Nilla. ‘Nilla Wafers are what I love….
Wearing Fracas – best tuberose and probably one of the most iconic perfumes ever.
Many thanks to everyone to kept their fingers crossed for my fridge. It looks like the repair was successful and it works fine now. I hope it stays like that.
It’s always good when a major appliance can be brought back to life instead of spending bigger moolah! YAY!
?? Good news about the fridge! Hope your injury is following suit.
Fracas is a great pick!
Yay for good repair work! And Fracas is wonderful….on someone else. Tuberose doesn’t like me. But I’m certain you smell great
I can’t tolerate tuberose either, especially if it is so prominent. As much as I appreciate and like Fracas and Carnal Flower I can’t wear them. I still have hopes that someday I am suddenly able to enjoy tuberose.
Zoologist Civet has tuberose in it and it smells great, the only one I’ve found. I’ve said before that tuberose beats me up on the playground and trash talks me to gardenia, another pretty note that hates me
I don’t remember if I have tried Civet yet. I need to check my Zoologist samples.
I also have a love/hate relationshp with gardenia. I love some scents and dislike others badly.
I LOVE Civet!! I had no idea (or recollection) that it contained Tuberose. Thanks for the reminder to wear it.
Have you tried SL Tubereuse Criminelle? I’m tuberose phobic also, but can wear that one.
I can’t hack gardenia, either.
I have always been scare of trying Tuberose Criminelle. After your comment I will definitely get a sample!
Hooray for resurrected refrigerator!
The only extended warranty that has ever paid for itself is the one I took out on our refrigerator. I have lost track of the number of times someone has had to come out to fix the ice maker. I think we finally had the definitive repair last time, though. They guy told me it was the one they do when everything else fails (which he hinted was inevitable).
We’re on our 2nd ice maker and I just had to turn it off because it is malfunctioning. Last time had water shooting out the ice dispenser until we pulled the fridge out of the cubby and shut off the water valve. I’m not taking any chances this time.
You smell sooooo good! Love Fracas!
Well, I’m loving that back to school themed teapot. Adorable!
I’m wearing CdG Kyoto to try to combat a windy, grey day. It’s very gusty and blowy, a result of a front that came through yesterday, sparking horrible rain and storms. Still watching Dorian, but really, it’s hard to lose track of him when he’s lumbering along as he is.
Keep your collective heads down, people! It’s a crazy world out there!
Kyoto is wonderful. I was thinking of wearing yesterday.
It is! And I’m really like the sleek, minimalistic packaging. I just have a bit of difficulty figuring out where the spray exits- have to get out my glasses to make sure I actually spray it on me and not I to the air..
Maybe we should have a CP: Wear today what you wanted to wear yesterday ?
I have zero need for a miniature decorative teapot, but agree it is cute!
You smell amazing Deva! Kyoto is such a great scent and a big favorite! I still regret for getting rid of my full bottle a couple of years ago. Mistake! I hope it joins my collection again later on.
If you’d like a decant to hold you over until that FB rejoins your collection, let me know. I just ordered some new travel spray bottle from amazon. Taiga101 in the land of yahooligans. ✌?
Thanks, Deva, but I am fine for now. I still have enough in the decant a got a while ago! ??
Smelling great today in Kyoto!
Love the teapot! I’m in 24, Faubourg, which is definitely the best in at least one class – the one that makes Mr. G go “mmmmm” when he hugs me. Can’t go wrong with that!
That’s a good category!
It’s a fabulous scent.
It really is. It’s one of two fragrances that I have backup bottles of … although I can see a day when I’ll need backups of a couple of Chanels that are draining quickly.
Aww..Mr G. I wish My hubs would appreciate my perfume.
Ditto! Mr L does not for sure
Sounds like Mr. L actively DISlikes perfume – what a shame. But at least he tolerates it, and isn’t a total perfume grinch?
Aww, Petunia – I do too! Maybe he really does and just doesn’t want to admit it. Mr. G had to get over the idea of spending money on such insubstantial things, but he finally came to terms with it as a hobby (like his golf obsession, or his soccer-watching obsession), something that isn’t really “useful” except insofar as it makes me really, really happy.
My husband doesn’t obsess over things. Probably because he has five siblings. I guess that he learned not to at an early age. As for perfume, he pretty much dislikes it. I’m just happy if he doesn”t complain…not that it stops me…?
Awww, that is sweet! The most I get is “I don’t not like it” if I ask, lol.
Well, at least he tries to be diplomatic!
The irony is he wears an aftershave of some artisanal brand I bought for him and he gets loads of compliments on it! We were walking down the street one day and a total stranger told him he smelled good. Not fair, lol!
Love this category! Coco would win, hands down, and the weather will be cool enough to wear it this week.
And since I forgot to put it in my comment, that teapot is adorable
Shalimar Mexique makes my husband do that. He will definitely voice his opinion if he doesn’t like something. Then it’s best to wear it during the day when he’s not around and he doesn’t seem to object to most drydowns.
24F is so perfect! You smell fab today.
Oliver & Co Veil Nebula 3. Metallic, mineral, oceanic scent with citrus and floral notes. Weird, but very interesting!
I am sure it is the best metallic mineral citrus floral oceanic!
I’m going commando, as I hope to build up enough gumption to go to the gym this morning.
Hey, has anybody noticed that FragranceNet is now selling 0.27 ounce travel sprays for some of their scents? I went a little crazy yesterday, ordering several. It would be so fantastic if they did this for every scent they sell; currently it looks like a limited collection (but nonetheless large enough that I found plenty to purchase).
Happy Tuesday, all!
I did notice the travel sprays on fragrance.com and bought two with a 37% discount of fragrances that I like but don’t neec a fB. I also did a blind buy of Espirit d’Oscar. I read some good reviews so we’ll see.
Good luck finding motivation for your workout!
I did notice that and have bought a few
I grabbed one too. I just don’t feel like full bottles (especially 100 ml) are for me.
The travel sizes aren’t available for the things I was shopping for but it’s great that fragrancenet is offering some.
Oh dear! I’m lemming some of those travel sprays.
Do I need a full bottle of this?
Tea is David’s tea breakfast
Yes you do!
You should check when your local Estee Lauder counter does thier GWP and get it then.
Macy’s has one currently
You can probably find one for perfumemathfree on eBay
I have never heard of perfumemathfree
Hajusuuri can explain it better, but perfumemathfree is when you find a really great deal by using points, or with an amazing discount, or when the cost-per-ml breakdown is miniscule because you were able to acquire a gigantic bottle for basically a song.
Perfumath is a branch of mathematics reserved for calculating the cost of perfume. Spending any amount < $50 is automatically considered perfumath free. The state of being perfumath free can also come about through what Sheri described.
Macy’s also seems to frequently have 15% off Beauty.
I you can get it cheap???
Spending the morning in L’Heure de Nuit. I am just relaxing from a busy weekend right now. After my shower, it will be cleaning up my room so I can get my bedroom set into my room. It’s amazing how much stuff you accumulate in such a short period of time. I think that I will wear vintage BaV today, after my shower.
Both of those scents are lovely. I am longing to wear fall scents but it will be 82 here today.
Heure d’Nuit has been a lemming for several yrs now, you smell great.
The thing is that that line that L’heure Bleue is part of is soooooo expensive. Almost to the point of too much money. I wish that Liu was still part of the line.
Congrats on a new bedroom set!
Sud de Magnolia… plink (plastic sample) ?
? plink or thunk, it’s all good!
Have a dry down of Gabrielle Essence on me which is now light woods but started as a headache inducing pear-ish white floral. Says it has peach..I get a big peary citrus . A lot stronger than original Gabby..and not more wearable to me. Also tried the Idole Lancome…which is like Tresor In Love part 2…no thx. The Gucci is growing on me..the dry down is nice.
I was unimpressed with Gabrielle Essence as well. Idole was OK, but need to keep working on my sample. The new Gucci was a no-go on paper. I might have to give it a chance sometime on skin, though.
I was reading about pineapple perfume yesterday, so decided to wear FM Music for a while today. Great, fun-but-also-grown-up scent.
Psst… confession: I was totally unfamiliar with the 17th century musical work, and so mistakenly believed that the perfume was called Music for a Whale for the longest time!
It would be an even better name!
Haha that’s so funny! I will always think of whales now when I wear it ?
I’m in my old friend Vanille Insensee for a crazy work day. Woke to thunder and lightening so I guess it’s a good day to be working. This is probably my best vanilla, so points for the cp…?
I am expecting that storm in a few hours. Hope the day gets less crazy!
Thanks lillyjo! The storm ended up being very little rain. Mostly noise and lightening, hope it’s not too bad for you.
That is a nice vanilla!
It is! Also one of my most complimented perfumes.
I wore that a lot in California on my house hunting trip a couple of weeks ago. It’s a great one! You smell great!
I’m testing today, Southern Gothic from Sixteen92. It’s a coconut suntan lotion scent, which isn’t a category I really like, and not a description that fits the name. It should have been earthy and vintage-feeling, not vaguely gesturing towards white florals but not really making it there. Can’t all be winners!
No, that really does not fit the name! Actually, Diptyque Olene fits the name (to me).
Oh well, one less to worry about buying!
I’m in Rose Jam, the best sweet rose. I had something else in mind for today, but I switched it up after hearing that my coworker is staying home sick. Thought I should take advantage and wear a strong perfume.
I’m definitely dragging today after the 3 day weekend. I’ve actually had 4 day work weeks for almost the whole month of August because of my two weekend trips. It will be hard to go back to a 5 day week next week!
Hmmm, since I’m also into rose, do you have other rose categories? I mean sub-categories? Sweet rose, Turkish rose, dark rose, pink rose? I like this idea. I still haven’t tried Rose Jam.
I don’t think I could take it that far because I’ve only started to really pay attention to rose perfumes for the last few years. I used to be quite bored by rose soliflores, but I appreciate them more now. Rose isn’t one of my favorite perfume notes though I’d love to see rose lovers break their faves into sub categories.
I love Rose Jam but I think the best sweet rose is Paris, although strictly speaking it is a rose violet.
I’m regretfully not very familiar with Paris. It’s been years since I’ve smelled it, and I have never really worn it, I think. I’d like to revisit it!
It is a shame that it has had to be reformulated and as a result is now a shadow of its former self.
My favorite roses –
Dark Rose – Mohur Extrait, Portrait of a Lady;
Rose incense – Rose de Petra, Rose Vermielle;
Sweet Rose – Paris, Rose Jam
I use Rose Jam shower gel in the winter but herbal things in the summer.
Hmm, I think I am low on Rose Jam as well, come to think of it…
Thanks for the listing!
I love Portrait of a lady too, also OJ T’aif, rose with saffron and dates, Tauer’s Incense Rose, and Heeleys Hippie Rose, which is an elegant everyday cool weather perfume.
Who makes Paris?
I remember loving Rose Jam perfume first and then being very tired of it by the end of the bottle. I am quite enjoying RJ shower gel now though. The sweetest rose scent I tried.
It’s actually grating on me a bit today because I have a tired/sinus headache. ?
I love Rose Jam. You smell great.
I’m wearing Iris Silver Mist, which I finally got a little of – thanks madtowngirl for calling my attention to Tracey Cutler’s decanting site on the 8/5 SOTD thread. IMO it’s best in class for iris, and also best in class for living up to the hype.
I agree that Silver Mist is the best iris scent, no matter how much is liked or disliked.
I was going to give a hint that to get back to a certain nst date to fiddle with the url to put in the date, but instead will just give the TC’s url after doing said fiddling myself:
ISM is a real beauty. I’m glad you’re getting to experience it!
I’m wearing Ambre Russe which imho is one of the best ambers, the others being Ambre Sultan, Ambre Précieux and very closely followed by Ambre 114.
Tea is MF Thé des Impressionnistes.
I am going to google that tea..
Glad to see you mention Ambre Précieux here because it would be my pick!
Out of the 3 I mentioned I can never make of my mind which one I think is the best amber. As I don’t own any Précieux I could not put it on. I think I still have a sample somewhere.
We have the same taste in ambers! You would like En Voyage perfumes Captured in Amber too. I’d offer to send you some but it’s impossible to get a decant from the little bottle I have.
You are very kind!
Ambre 114 is so good, and the 15ml bottles are very reasonably priced.
In Le Labo’s Santal, which based on the mixed feelings it gets here, I’ll say that it is Best In Class for dill pickles… (I actually no longer get dill pickle at all from this perfume, but I do remember that there was a time that I did )
hahaha, it’s all pickles on me so I’m going to make my daughters give it a whirl to see if it suits either of them. It didn’t go pickly on my husband but he didn’t care for it.
Hope you are feeling better!
Haha, cute ☺️ That’s my SIL’s signature perfume and I could smell it all over the house! I do get a slight pickle note (half sours, though). I do love it as an ambient scent and have bought the candle twice.
How is your bronchitis?
Well . . . I just got back from the dr moments ago. She’s convinced I have Pertussis. I doubt it. I let her swab me, take x-rays, and prescribe inhalers, but I want to see the lab results before I’m given antibiotics. I’ve had this thing 5 weeks, so a few more days won’t make much of a difference. In any event, she was gratifyingly alarmed, which was the polar opposite of the ER doc I saw about 10 days ago.
Thanks so much for asking. (I had to interview a woman this morning in Nigeria via Skype–and between the poor connection and my coughing, the recording is a bit of a mess. I am looking forward to this thing passing!)
Wow, I didn’t even remember what Pertussis was and had to google. I am glad you found a doc to be suitably alarmed after 5 weeks of coughing.
I am glad she takes your cough seriously. I think you are quite right about waiting for the lab results. Hopefully you will soon know what exactly causes the cough and receive the right treatment.
Lol best in class for dill pickles!
Hi everyone. Happy autumn, those of you who have it. Good luck with Dorian, those of you who might be in his path. Horrible about the Bahamas devastation. I’m trying MDCI Rose de Siwa. Definitely not the best in the rose class. I think I’ll try to figure out what is and post that on Friday. I’ve been more and more into rose perfumes lately. Have a good week everyone.
It is so pretty though!
I love it too but it is best during spring for me. I really don’t wear it too much outside of that season.
No 19, which qualifies for green scents or things to wear when you don’t know what to wear or things to wear when you’re fortifying yourself for an office battle.
let the force be with you
If you’re wearing the EDP, I say it’s the best in class of the best in class ?
Wearing Houbigant Iris des Champs today, because Undina in her recent post said it’s a summer iris. She’s my scent twin so I wanted to check if I agree on that one too. Yes, I do!
Another sample thunked this week, and it’s only Tuesday.
You are doing good with the thunking! Keep going!
Wearing DSH American Beauty today and will probably layer something with it later, not that it needs anything but just for variety. This is my favorite rose soliflore so it’s kind of CP adjacent? Dawn has a real gift for roses.
Does she have other rose scents too?
Quite a few. Inner Sanctum is a dark rose with incense that would be my best in Dark Rose category. Her website is kind of overwhelming but if I recall correctly, you can search by note. They are having a “garage sale” on the site right now. It’s dsh dot com
Since I forgot to wear it this weekend when my husband and I celebrated our dating anniversary, I am now in the Best First Date Scent–aka Guerlain French Kiss
Happy dating anniversary! You smell great!
That’s cute about the dating anniversary. My husband was into that but I talked him out of it – I’m bad at remembering this stuff!
SOTD TDC de Bachmakov since I wanted something light and fresh.
I had a nice and relaxing long weekend despite all my plans getting upended, partly because if the rain yesterday.
Here’s an odd one: I’d gotten an email invite from someone I know from ukulele circles who was having a uke jam/potluck in her yard this past Saturday. I RSVP’D but didn’t hear back and was reviewing the email for address details and realized there wasn’t a building #, only cross streets. So I messaged her and she responded saying she was sorry but she was maxed out on people vis a vis space. So weird! Why would you invite more people than you have space for and then have to reject RSVPs? I can’t figure people out sometimes.
I think you are being far too polite just calling it weird. I’d say it’s downright rude! The whole point of inviting somebody is because you WANT them to come, so a person should plan on everybody invited to come and plan accordingly!
I guess I think it’s weird because I can’t imagine even considering doing that! I know her, but not well and only from my meetups so I didn’t take it personally. She’s actually really nice, but apparently clueless, and clearly very comfortable disinviting people, which also was pretty jaw-dropping, lol.
I’ve been thinking alot lately about people, and basically what the heck is going on with them. There is just no social etiquette anymore. Remember the Miss Manners section? She definitely wouldn’t have agreed to this occurrence. It’s really rude, and stinks.
Yeah, I guess we can’t take for granted the things that seem glaringly obvious.
I think it is just plain rude. I don’t have time for this kind of person and will only tolerate their presence as they are in the same uke/jam group. Life is too short to deal with this nonsense. I’m sorry this happened to you. A while back, I read an article on giving yourself permission to divorce your friends; this person would be a candidate if this were to have happened to me. If a friend decides to divorce me, I probably won’t shed any tears because that’s life. If it keeps happening, I may want to know why.
I’ve had to divorce a few friends over the years. Don’t even get me started on my family, lol! I’ve learned to choose my battles and we live 3k miles apart ??
I’m not as offended as others here, just mystified. Was it a first come first serve, space is limited potluck? Or was it based on what you offered to bring? (Had enough side dishes, only looking for main dishes and dessert here on out?!) Hilarious. She sounds, as you say, clueless.
We’ve had two events at our place that got too big (the first was a post-memorial service gathering/dinner that we had no access to who was invited/who was coming–we planned for 25 and nearly 40 showed and the other was a sit down formal dinner we hosted as an auction item for a fundraiser, and folks brought friends–that was only 18 up to 23, but it did make things extremely complicated–AND people we barely knew got very drunk . . . ).
I kept rechecking my emails looking for a caveat but didn’t see one, unless I missed something. I personally wouldn’t want to deal with the headache of a caveat and start having to respond to turn people away.
We did the over inviting thing once on a 4th bbq thinking only maybe 1/2 would show and nearly everyone came. It was too crowded in our tiny sliver of a yard and uncomfortable so the next ones we had we invited far fewer and then extended it out to others if the 1st round was low show. That worked out pretty well.
LizzieB below, I think, says it best. Anyway, there is no surfeit of graciousness these days, that is certain!
The thing that tips it over the edge for me is that you RSVP’d and she didn’t respond to let you know more people had responded than anticipated. She just left it hanging out there…and it’s entirely possible you had declined another invite because you had already accepted hers. She let it stay in your calendar. There’s no excuse for that. Just common courtesy. It’s not difficult.
I agree and I ended up FB messaging her and I mentioned my email RSVP and she didn’t say anything about the email. Again, what seems obvious…
That is super rude!!!!
OMG, how totally rude, I agree with LizzieB.
Wearing LDDM as the best perfume that doesn’t smell like anything else I own!
Yes! I’d also say it is just one of the best smelling perfumes period.
Hectic week for me. Fingers crossed between my car and teeth that it’s not an expensive week! It’s gloomy and I’m expecting storms. Sotd is Iris Nazarena. It is fitting the day perfectly.
Smellin’ good. Sending good juju your way.
Yuck, car and teeth are very potentially pricey. Hoping for the best!
You smell lovely. I hope you get good news about your car and dental bill.
You smell amazing! Sending positive and cheerful vibes!
Fingers crossed! You smell great, though!
Thinking of you this week! We are sisters with it being a hectic week but we can do it! Hugs!
I am wearing Chanel No. 5 EDP and drinking a cup of Shalimar tea. One year ago today, I was in Paris. My fragrance and tea remind me of that wonderful day
Lovely way to remember that time.. Paris is so wonderful!
Wonderful memories I’m sure!
I’m wearing Pacific Lime today. Had to dig out a sweater this morning for my walk–fall is on the way!
I so much long to wear a sweater! Sigh, sigh.
I’ll be going up to Michigan late next week though, and am sure I’ll get my chance!
I love traveling north into Michigan, especially around Traverse City and the Leelanau peninsula and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Or into the Upper Peninsula. Where do you like to go?
I love that whole area too and especially Old Mission Peninsula, where I’ve rented a cottage a couple of times in the past. On this trip I’m visiting old friends who have a wonderful huge old farmhouse in Purport, right on Lake Michigan. It’s in the apple-growing area between Manistee and Frankfort.
That should be “Pierport”.
Oh, how nice. Have a great time!
Yes you probably will although so far only the mornings have been chilly
Timbuktu this morning. Might switch to Coromandel later. Saw the new bottles of parfum (Coromandel) on Chanel’s website. There’s a $10K bottle if one is so inclined. ?
Now I need to look! ?
My God – what’s so special about that bottle!
I wonder if Bergdorfs will give me a discount and ply me with gifts?
I AM inclined but my bank account says otherwise. ?
That teapot Limoges-type box is too cute. My husband teaches high school math and it reminds me of him. No SOTD yet. I will need something celebratory. Just had new mattresses delivered from Denver Mattress. Really looking forward to sleeping with good support. My younger son went gaga for the Purple Mattress. We got him the original model, which is the least expensive. He has champagne tastes for his age. Thankfully, the older one (who will be going away to college next year anyway) chose something much more reasonably priced.
It would be a good teacher present for the right teacher
My son always had champagne taste as well! Congrats on the new mattress!
A big moment in my perfume life yesterday as I lost my Tauer virginity to sotto la luna tuberose. It was worth it!
Ooh that’s a beauty!
Well, when you put it that way….?
Tom is such a brut by comparison
Sending you a big perfume hug. If you want to talk about it, we’re here. This is a special time in your life. You are a Tauer woman now.
???? I’m so glad I had already swallowed my diet coke before I read!
Hahaha – hilarious
I hope he’s not reading this blog. Or maybe more fun if he were. I can’t decide, lol!
It was a special moment and I don’t know why I held on to my Tauer chastity ring as long as I did. I hope we make it through the whole six samples – fingers crossed! I can’t understand why Waterdragon ever let him go but I guess she had moved on to full bottle Tauer.
??? Thanks for the laugh!
LOL. How promiscuous did you end up with Tauer, the perfumes, of course ???
If we didn’t live on opposite sides of the world I would be fully committed…but long distance relationships are difficult. Six different samples – I like to mix it up a bit, keep it fresh. Sigh.
SOTD = L’AP Séville a l’Aube
It’s the best in class for something, I just haven’t thought about for what ?
I’m in the process of looking through my mom’s stuff. I don’t necessarily have a system per se, other than trying not to get bogged down in one “section”. There’s really no hurry as I am in the house and not planning on leaving or selling any time soon. That said, I found some momentos that I forgot all about. There was a mini porcelain brandy glass with an inscription for my grandparents’ 60th wedding anniversary. They had a big bash then, with almost 1,000 people! Nowadays, weddings 1/4 the size are already considered big. I can’t imagine knowing that many people but I suppose it’s family and friends and their families!
In other news, I listed some freebies in this past weekend’s Lazy Weekend Poll for U.S. recipients. Go check it out!
You smell fabulous, that’s one of my favorites and I’ve worn it a lot this summer.
Wow, 1000 people is a ginormous party! The logistics must have been a very big deal.
I should have worn Séville more often; every time I wear it, I say the same thing!
I think I was a pre-teen then and everything looked enormous. I don’t recall the name of the hotel but it must have been one that also caters to business conferences. There were massive accordion room separators and the space may have been all the rooms combined. I recall ice carvings and a family that came wearing jeans to a semi-formal (for guests) and formal (for family) event and other than that, it was all a blur!
What’s great is they knew a thousand people and they all showed up! That says alot.
Heh, I’m pretty sure my grandparents did not know all of them as I believe family could and did invite their friends.
I guess the opposite philosophy from “sorry, we’ve maxed out”. Seriously, that’s lovely. We were having a conversation about saving mementos recently, cuz my hubs is a saver, and about keeping something you don’t “use”. But sometimes the memories that get sparked seem worth it.
I was surprised at some of the things I found — little dinosaur monsters and these could be my nephew’s since he used to sleep over.
Good luck going through your mom’s stuff. I can imagine what a challenge that can be- I helped do that for my grandparents. Hugs!
Currently wearing 4711 Mandarin & Cardamom, which is my favorite of this summer’s 4711 binge.
Also wearing TF Metallique and Gucci Memoire d’une Odeur. In theory. The TF is drowning out the rest, and of course I don’t like it.
Had a classic perfumista moment at Nordstrom just now. I attempted to buy some LL city exclusives in the 15 ml size, only to be told that they don’t exist. So we did the yes-they-do no-they-don’t dance a while… Guess I will be hitting the LL website soon! At least the SA was nice, if uninformed.
Aha! Didn’t know they offered the exclusives in 15ml format either.
Ugh that sales person dance is the worst when you KNOW you’re right!
Will have to give some thought to Best in Class for Friday – maybe an iris sniff-off?
What I have kicked off is my New year’s in September project: using up decants. Today was Guerlain’s Meteorites, which seems to be a cheaper version of Misia – both are makeup violets.
Ciel d’Opale, best in class for pretty for late spring and summer by Bertrand Duchafour. Happy Tuesday!
13C this morning, woohoo for fall! Bring on the incense. Memo Tiger’s Nest.
Memo’s had some banner releases recently. That one is gorgeous!
Nice! Both the perfume and Fall!
Oh, that sounds delightful. We will hit 101 this coming week. ?
Back last night from a 5 day trip to WV. It was a good visit but super happy to be back and get on with the move. We are packing up the remainder of our stuff and plan to head out on Saturday for CA.
I wore L’heure Bleue (vintage extract) and and Le Jardin de Monsieur Li the whole time in WV because those are the samples I grabbed on the way out the door!
Today I’m in Burberry Brit Rhythm for Her. I love this one so much. It’s an easy everyday kind of wear for me.
I hope you all are making it okay today after the long weekend!
Very nice. I think I would be frozen if forced to grab something on the way out. I am not a very spontaneous person but I can plan to be one under certain conditions ?
I’m not really spontaneous either haha! Im quite the opposite but I realized as I was walking out the door that I’d forgotten to pack perfume and just grabbed two samples I already had sitting out!
I think I inadvertently participated in the CP – wore Coromandel for the first day of the term. The best patchouli
It’s definitely in contention, though I also love Patchouli Nossy Be by Perris Monte Carlo and Borneo 1834.
Oh, and how could I omit CDG Luxe Patchouli?!!
I need to look all of these up!
Ooh, a reviewer calls Borneo the better version of L’instant. I love l’instant so that’s quite a compliment
Today’s teapot kind of looks like the old kids’ metal lunchboxes, back from when I was in elementary school. ?
More gorgeous late summer weather here. So that kind of made my choice for perfume easy. ?
SOTD = Soivohle Pachou Minimal EdP. One of the best summer weight patchouli scents that I have tried.
I just looked up your sotd and it sounds wonderful!
Did you have a metal lunch box? Mine was the Flintstones
I had the Flintstones lunchbox too! Great memory!
I had a metal lunch box as well but don’t recall the theme.
I think you had a comment to my using Zoologist T-Rex to clobber Kilian Rolling in Love. T-Rex pretty much annihilated the Kilian; however, Rolling in Love had the last love because it lasted longer than ??
I still have my metal Raggedy Ann lunchbox that I had in kindergarten ? It still has my name on it that my dad wrote with a Sharpie. I can taste the slight metallic twang the food had from sitting in there (or from being wrapped in tin foil).
Aww. I love tgat your dad wrote your name on it.
Mine looked like a red barn with farm anumals posed in the windows.
I think they put my name on everything, lol. I was always losing things.
Yours sounds adorable!
Omg, yes to that taste!
Hmmm…. I’m wearing vintage Aliage just because of all the recent discussion of this and other EL scents. It’s my best in class personal scent from my 20’s and probably one of the top humidity-cutting scents out there.
Saw “Ready Or Not”, which was my husband’s movie pick for our discount date. Entertaining comedy/horror. Yes, I had to shut my eyes in part but the gory parts were fairly comic or off screen. Characters were very well drawn.
I love the idea of a “Discount Date” ?
Thanks for the recommendation, that sounds like a good one!
You smell great!
Good evening for those on U.S, Eastern Time! (And a good day or night for others.) Scent this afternoon is Passage d’Enfer.
I am in 1993 by smellbent. A nice dusty leathery patchouli. I am digging this one
Leathery Patchouli sounds good! In practice, although I’ve ordered several times from Smell Bent, I may have only smelled Florist Fridge (I like) and Prairie Nymph (NO – skankfest) and the rest are just evaporating although I’ve given some away.

Oh holy moly, I hit submit twice but maybe my fingers twitched and caused the double posting.
Wearing some Jasmin et Cigarette tonight. I should pull this out more often.
You smell great!
