Hermes Twilly d’Hermes Eau Poivree ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 19 July 2019 14 Comments

Hermès has launched Twilly d'Hermès Eau Poivrée, a new flanker to 2017's Twilly d'Hermès.

The peppery spirit of the Hermès girls. A daring fragrance coloured with vibrant pink peppercorn, tender rose and elegant patchouli. Spicy, floral, woody.

"Hermès girls swim happily against the tide, set their own tempo, invent a whole new rhythm. For them, I have imagined a new facet in tribute to their youthful spirit"

Christine Nagel, Hermès perfumer

Twilly Eau Poivrée travels from the skin to the mind, colourful and incisive. Three new materials make up its sensuality: the vibrant and abundant heat of pink peppercorn, the teenage freshness of tender rose and the captivating enchantment of patchouli. Their essences intertwine, weaving the invisible web that connects the Hermès girls to each other.

Hermès Twilly d'Hermès Eau Poivrée is available now at Hudson's Bay in Canada, in 30, 50 and 85 ml Eau de Parfum.

I’m curious, how these new notes fit in with the original ginger and tuberose? Or are they replacing them?

I was hoping to love original Twilly, but what I sniffed left me meh. I am interested in this flanker, once again in part because of my on-going search for the pink bottle of my dreams… :-), but pepper is not one of my favorite notes. When I smell pepper, I invariably think, why isn’t it clove the way it should be?

      Pepper is cheaper, probably.

And clove is hard to do now…I think, actually I have no idea what synthetic aromachemicals are available that aren’t IFRA restricted. Nobody seems to do a decent carnation anymore, but that might be for other reasons.

If it’s indeed pink pepper from the description, it doesn’t really smell like black pepper, it is rather flowery so you might be interested in trying it after all 🙂

It sounds pretty good, but “teenage freshness of tender rose” is pretty alienating copy to me!

Agreed… I realize they have marketed this to a younger demographic but geez….

    Rose and patchouli? Groundbreaking.

Thank you Robin, at least Hermes waits a few years before making a flanker 🙂 that’s showing tasteful restraint, I never smelled Twilly so I will try both when I have a chance.

Thanks for posting this, Robin! I like my little decsnt of twilly well enough and will look for this one! The teenage talk is a little off putting. But then again – maybe this would be a great little present for one of my t(w)eens.

Finally got to try this today, it was dreadful. Screechy overwhelming pepper blast with a synthetic chemical drydown. No tuberose, no rose, no patchouli. More money saved!
