PSA: the freebiemeet is tomorrow!
Meanwhile, it's finally Friday and it's finally Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Our community project for today: wear a fragrance by Ineke, Imaginary Authors, il Profumo or i Profumi di Firenze, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter I, and triple bonus points if you wear a qualifying fragrance while eating chocolate ice cream.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Imaginary Authors Mosaic. I rarely hear it mentioned here, and I suspect we are a small fan club.
Reminder: on 6/14, we're doing the picture challenge, edition 4, part 2 (you can find part 1 here). Wear a perfume that matches the picture, which is Georgia O'Keeffe's Blue and Green Music. You can find snippets about this painting here and here.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Memoirs of a Trespasser
Floral vanilla, oak, MYRRH
A dry vanilla wood incense scent, on MY skin
My favorite from IA, great choice.
Yep, dry vanilla wood incense is a perfect description to me.
“Dry vanilla wood incense” sounds like it could be fabulous.
Thanks all !
Jalapeno, it is FABULOUS !
The question is – does it make me fabulous, or do I make it fabulous ?
Well….. the answer is obvious ! LOLOLOLOLOL
Added to the sample list based on this description!
Ineke Poet’s Jasmine. Happy Friday everyone!
We were twins yesterday! I am continuing with an all Ineke week!
Hi ex-twin! You smell great in Idyllwild today!
Oh, I could have worn that one. I have some somewhere. . . I wear it when I want to smell like jasmine, as opposed to when I want to smell like JAAAAHSMIIIIINE.
I agree! It is a nice light jasmine, pretty and easier to wear than the big ones, like A la Nuit!
Happy Friday, perfumelover67! Have a good weekend!
Thank you, Jalapeno! You too have a great weekend!
Happy FriYAY! Lordy mercy, what a looooooong work week!
Partial credit for wearing….drumroll please…..Ivanka Trump! Very nice, office appropriate scent, with decent longevity and light sillage.
More credit for my plan to eat some chocolately “Tonight Dough” ice cream from Ben and Jerry’s when I get home tonight?
Tonight Dough is my favorite from Ben & Jerry’s! We finished off a pint last weekend.
In L’air de rien by Miller Harris. I got four letter ‘I’s in there. Does that count?
That seems plenty for the CP.
No matter what you get points for smelling amazing.
Love the idea of l’Air de Rien on a man, Bob. One of the more adventurous Miller Harris.
You smell great which is what really counts!
Must wear this soon, so good
I was in Florence a few years ago and of course went to the I Profumi di Firenze shop not far from the Uffizi. I bought six bottles, one of which I’m wearing today, Spezie de’ Medici, which some people think of as Christmassy because it smells of oranges and spice, but it works well in warmer weather too because the sharpness of the orange peel lasts for an astoundingly long time and carves through the soft spices and vanilla. It’s so great.
Such a great scent!
I also really love that scent, but, sadly, I am allergic to it. I break out in a major red rash wherever it touches my skin. I’d give a lot to find a clone or twin of it that I could wear!
Oh I loved shopping there!! We came home with two bottles, and I suspect we could have happily picked a few more.
Oh, thanks for the reminder! I have a sample of that one that I bought while chasing orange scents. I found and am wearing it now.
Perfect souvenirs! You get regular sensory reminders of your trip!
I toyed with the idea of wearing Mosaic, but it would be my first wearing and I wasn’t brave enough this morning for an Imaginary Authors blind wearing. The Ineke and i Profumi scents I’ve sampled haven’t worked well for me (although Field Notes from Paris is a very near miss), so I ended up re-doing last week’s CP in Or du Serail … mostly because I just craved it this morning. Mr. G approved heartily when I hugged him just now, and even asked what it’s called (that’s not a complete rarity, but fairly it’s unusual).
Indult Mankara for me today. Made a rhubarb crumble and boy is it good. Will try to get in some chocolate ice cream today.
I’m thinking a scoop of chocolate ice cream on rhubarb crumble is something I could eat!
cazabon, would you share your recipe? I have a fridge full of CSA rhubarb and I don’t want to repeat last week’s pie…
This is the one I used. Delicious!
Oh, good choice, Indult is definitely partial points for the CP!
Ahhhh, my grandmother used to make a rhubarb crisp for me whenever she visited us or we visited her. A favorite in my family.
Wearing my only CP scent. Il Profumo’s Eclair de tubéreuse. It’s a nice creamy tuberose that I once got on a whim because it was on sale.
Tea is Jardin du paradis.
Ineke Gilded Lily. Smells very classy and old-school to me.
Old school is a plus on my book. I love chypres. This one is very pretty, blind bought it (blame: wine and the evil bay) and don’t regret it!
I definitely meant old-school in a good way. And the name is very fitting – flowers ‘gilded’ by fruits and chypre accord.
The name IS good! Constraining herself to the ABCDerium naming format cannot be easy.
Imaginary Authors Slow Explosions today. It reminds me of Parfums d’Empire Wazamba with a stronger apple note; although incense isn’t listed in the notes I definitely smell it along with saffron and leather. One of those perfumes that I really enjoy and don’t wear often enough.
Meeting a friend for ice cream this afternoon, guess I’ll have to have chocolate! happy Friday everyone.
I’m off project today in Arielle Shoshana Saturday. I was going to wear Falling into the Sea from my samples, because that is the only scent meeting the CP that I have, but I couldn’t get the cap off. I have been having trouble with my grip since I dislocated my dominant index finger at the end of March. It healed wrong. My orthopedist said that it is “frozen”. It won’t straighten, and it won’t bend past a 90 degree angle.
Oh noooo, you must explain to them that you are a perfumista and they need to fix it so you can continue sampling!
A friend of mine injured his fingers doing construction and had to get “hand therapy.” I was surprised at what a long process it was. I hope you get your full range of motion back soon!
oh, I am so sorry to hear that.
I am typing this with thumb braces on both hands, so I have a LOT of experience with my local Hand Therapist. They can really make a difference!
Oh no, I’m sorry to hear it isn’t healing properly. I hope it isn’t terribly painful. You smell great in tour consolation scent.
Wearing Ineke’s After My Own Heart. It’s very like the Scottish lilac soap that my aunt used to tuck into her bureau drawers to scent her clothes. It’s a scent that brings back a lot of nice memories for me.
I love a soapy lilac scent- it reminds me of my aunties, who use perfumed soap and floral waters in the heat of Central America. You smell terrific.
Ooh, that sounds lovely! What a great association.
I wanted to wear Inoui, but I can’t find it right now so I’m commando.
holyneroli and others who expressed interest in what’s going on with Parfum d’Empire, I wrote them yesterday to see if they have Corsica Furiosa in stock, and here’s the reply I received this morning:
Thank you for your interest for Parfum d’Empire and our creations. We have indeed a lot of sold out references at the moment in the US but even in France, which we deeply apologize for. These stocks problems are due to a delay from different suppliers but we are now doing the last settings for the restock. The picking is scheduled to the end of August/beginning of September. With the transportation delay for the US, it might get one week or two additionnal.
Concerning Corsica Furiosa, we do not have a bottle left, even at our laboratory. I hope it won’t be a problem for you and your friend. Do you want me to come back to you when it will be available ?
I remain at your disposal for any further informations and I wish you a nice end of the week.
(sorry about the length here, Robin!)
Thank you for sharing this news! I still haven’t tried this but have had my eye on it forever, so I’m glad to hear it will be available again. Or at least it sounds like it will.
You’re welcome! TPC carries Corsica Furiosa if you’re interested in sampling it.
I had no idea most of their line was out of stock. But it’s a very nice, personal response you received from them. I’m glad I bought a bottle of CF when it was available. If they do bring back smaller bottles I know I’ll be picking up a couple more scents. Thanks for the update!
You’re welcome! I was astonished at how quickly they responded and how nice, too! I only have a sample of CF, but just ordered a decant from TPC.
Thanks for the update Holly! That was some excellent customer service in the email you posted.
You’re so very welcome, Jalapeno! I replied to that email and received yet another incredibly kind, very personal and considerate response from Parfum d’Empire that truly gives me hope.
No apologies necessary, so glad you took the time to clear this up!
Thank you, Robin! I was very impressed by the response I received and wanted to share it.
I am getting double points in Ineke Idyllwild… it is great AND I don’t need a bottle, which is maybe my favorite sampling outcome?
I had a marvelous dream last night that an old friend took me to a party at his rich aunt’s mansion; she turned out to be a serious perfume collector and we spent the night touring the various vintage displays she had set up all around her house.
TWIN–i love Idyllwild and I do need a bottle, just not yet. Working my way through a generous split, but more may be in my future!
Triplets! But not only I like this perfume, I have a bottle of it
You should get points squared for that!
What a lovely dream….
Quadruplets! I just got an Ineke discovery set and this was the first one to try.
Quintuplets! I am still debating need for FB. Went from “Yes!” to “Need to wear some if my other vetivers to compare”.
That is one fabulous dream for sure! Can you just imagine?
Showing all of my Ineke love in Idyllwild. Love it!! But, I am on a perfume purchase moratorium until I have depleted a few more linger bottles, samples, and decants.
Looking forward to the freebiemeet tomorrow, must see what can be re-homed.
Happy Friday everybody–you all smell amazing!
You smell great. Hopefully, I do too
Hi everyone, I’m off project, my SOTD is vintage Chanel No. 19 EDP.
In honor of my birthday and Chocolate Ice Cream Day, breakfast was a
Haagen Dazs’ Belgian Chocolate affogato.
A sunset hike (Sutro Park) and cocktails after work tonight with friends.
Buon Compleanno, SmokeyToes!
Happy Birthday!? What a great breakfast!
Breakfast of champions!
Happy birthday! Great plans for the day.
Happy Birthday! Enjoy the day!
Many happy returns.
That’s a breakfast! I remember trips to Marseilles and having ice cream stuffed in a sugared brioche bun for breakfast while having a coffee.
Happy birthday! Sounds like a great day, and you smell wonderful.
Happy Birthday Smokey Toes! Best wishes always! ??????
Happy Birthday! ?
Depending on the outcome of this evening’s festivities, tomorrow’s SOTD may be Good Girl Gone Bad, by Killian.
Will keep you posted!
And many thanks for the birthday wishes!
Happy Birthday! An affogato is an excellent breakfast ? Your evening sounds wonderful, too. Enjoy!
Happy Birthday! Wishing you a year filled with joy, starting with breakfast each day!
Happy birthday! I hope the hike and cocktails are spectacular.
Happy Birthday! Hope there’s cake in your future, too.
Happy Birthday, SmokeyToes! I love your version of a birthday breakfast. Now that’s starting the day right. ?
Ahhh! Happy Birthday, your day sounds amazing! And you smell great!
Happy birthday, I hope the rest of your day is as good as the ice cream beginning!
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! Sounds like it started out just right..
Happy Scented Birthday SmokeyToes! And one with chocolate, no less! ?✨???
What an awesome breakfast! Happy birthday SmokeyToes, and have a fabulous weekend. ???
Happy Birthday! I like how you roll.
Happy Belated! Hope it was amazing!
Trying out Imaginary Authors Sundrunk. The notes sound like a nice summer treat, but the reality is laundry detergent. Not great!
I’m so glad you said laundry detergent. Scratching it off my to try list.
irisjasmine below disagrees, so maybe try it anyway? I get a nice citrusy opening and then it goes soapy on me.
Yeah, not soapy at all on me, but lillyjo, I don’t know that I’d work that hard to seek it out.
It gets alot of hype. Good to know the truth.
Oh wow! I don’t get laundry detergent from this one at all. I find it bright and pleasant. It’s not special enough for me to buy it, but I like it fine.
Reviews seem mostly positive, so looks like I just have bad luck!
Wearing Sundrunk, also.
Sadly, I find it not ‘bright and pleasant’, but dull and pleasant.
So, I sprayed myself with Fico di Amalfi, instead.
Scrumptious fig leaves!! Yum!!
Mmm, I’m a fig junkie! Should have worn IA’s Yesterday Haze instead.
I love Yesterday Haze. It would have been a great choice.
I am wearing Lili Bermuda Paradise today. Sorry to not participate in CP, but this one smells so nice. I couldn’t resist.
Happy Friday !
Chocolate Ice Cream Day? I am all in! Coffee flavored ice cream is actually my favorite, but beggars can’t be choosers right?
SotD is Isabey Lys Noir from a sample. This isn’t my usual genre of preferred fragrances, but I think this one will really bloom in the heat today. Like many other parts of the country, we bypassed spring and went straight into summer. 83 and sun today.?
Weather twins! My son had a great time in Milwaukee! He went to 2 museums and a creamory.
Oh good! I was going to ask you about that! We’ve had really nice weather this week.
Nice! At least you have some sun, even if it’s hot!
If you had some mocha ice cream, then you would have both coffee and chocolate ice cream covered. Just sayin’. ?
I am in London for work and managed to do some sniffing. Checked out my namesake perfume at Pegnahalion’s (sp?) and found it too sweet and heavy for summer. Then went to Bloom perfumery and got two PG samples: Cadjmere and Neroli Astara. The sales associate were so lovely and laidback. Then nipped into TKmaxx next door because UK Nsters always seem to find good perfumes there and came out with a bottle of Heliotrope Blanc. Easy powder scent.
So all in all a good perfume trip and I still haven’t done the Heathrow duty free!
Sounds like a great trip sniffing!
I’m going to be in London very soon (Sunday) and plan to hit those stores too (plus Liberty, and Harrods, and this and that….probably don’t have nearly enough time).
Sounds so fun!
Omnia today, no points
Sitting in a cafe reading Normal People and eating a apple tart before picking up mi bambini. The latte here is good, but chubby Buddha’s is better.
One of things I love about New York is the abundance of people from everywhere . The girls in front of me are chatting in Portuguese and the guy to my right is speaking Hebrew I am guessing. Upon arriving here I bumped into my neighbor and got a chance to practice my very bad Italian with her..
1) You smell great.
2) Oh, chubby Buddha! *virtual cheek pinching* Things made with love always taste better.
3) That is the marvel of NYC at it’s best.
I am very fortunate to live here and experience all of it: the good and the bad
Is that by Sally Rooney? How do you like it so far? I’ve been thinking of adding it to my ‘must read’ list.
I can’t put it down.
Its a well written novel about the coming of age.
I was 800 on the public library list so I bought the book.
I just finished Where did you go Bernadette? last night and it was a good spring/summer read.
No CP for me.
I am trying another Zoologist scent today–Hyrax.
I smell like poop.
It gets 5 more minutes to learn how to behave, or it’s getting washed off.
Hehe. When I had the opportunity to work with hyrax as a raw material, which involved using a hammer to smash up the stones into smaller pieces to release the odor and then be tinctured, I likened it to smelling the elephant house at the zoo. But the best smelling elephant house you can imagine.
The thing is, I *like* the fecal whiff I get from some vintage fragrances (old Shalimar being a standout example), but this was just too much! It wasn’t a whiff of poop, it was like I’d just walked into a barn that needed to be mucked.
Sounds like the scent is true to source material, in any case, so Good For Them. ⭐️ Gold star for effort. ?
I agree with you both on the unwearability and the gold star! Glad it exists, don’t want to wear it.
I totally get it. I have only worn my Hyrax perfume once, and it might end up being too poopy for me to wear too.
All this chatter makes me want to get my sample out and try it again. I don’t recall getting the fecal whiff. Don’t recall being enamored, either. But now I’m curious!
That is sounding like an Evil Giggle, finding pleasure in my pain. Are you rubbing your hands together like a villain?
*rubs hands with glee*
Hmm. Not sure how to deal with this combination of evil AND honest. . . ??
I tried their T-Rex finally at Bloom and almost gagged. Not for me.
I had the same experience with T. Rex. Rotting meat. But it did seem true to its name.
Well. That sure makes it sound worth a sniff. ?
Oh my, even for someone like myself who likes fecal or barn yard, that doesn’t sound good.
I am finding it difficult to imagine who would choose this one to wear. Maybe a curiosity sniff, in which case, a sample is more than enough!
Sorry. My inner middle schooler had to start snickering at “poop”.
I assume you’ve moved on to another perfume by now – what did you choose after the poop?
LOL. I’m a middle school teacher, so I wear my inner middle schooler on the outside fairly often. ?
Since it seemed to be a popular choice, I tried Moth next. I didn’t like the top notes, but when it settled down to honey, that was nice. Thankfully, I already have a few scents that settle into honey, so I think I likely do not need a bottle of it, either.
I laughed out loud after reading “I smell like poop.” I’ve been in that same situation. Tried a perfume that was rather Eau de Barnyard, and had to decide if it was time to scrub.
Funny thread, especially the elephant house comparison above.
Yes, Hyrax was an immediate scrubber for me–I didn’t even wait the full 5 minutes. Am I weird that I absolutely love the smell of T-Rex, including the blast of smoke at the start? I guess I don’t really get much of the rotting meat note, thank goodness. Now, for anyone curious about the latest Zoologist offerings, I ordered samples of Chameleon and Dodo from Luckyscent. Dodo was sort of interesting, very green and ferny; I’d compare it most with their Elephant. But I love Chameleon! I went online and bought one of the small travel bottles immediately and have been wearing it a lot. Lots of ylang ylang with some coconut and banana, but citrus to keep it from being too sweet. It’s reminiscent of Bat but without the damp cave note.
I chose the wonderfully chewy amber of i Profumi di Firenze Ambra del Nepal. It’s so creamy and a delight to wear. We’re in a couple days of cooler temps. My sinuses aren’t happy, but the upside is being able to wear cooler weather perfumes.
I’m in for another very busy day at work. I finally got caught up on reading SOTD posts from the last two days this morning.
Hope you get some relaxation time this weekend.
Sorry to hear that your sinuses are acting up. That can mess up your whole day. ?
Ineke, Idyllwild. One of the perfumes that I would re-purchase (if I ever finish my partial after the split bottle).
I’m so glad it’s Friday: working after being sick is even more tiresome than usual.
Have a great weekend everyone!
I just tried this for the first time and I agree that it’s FB-worthy!!
That one is sure getting a lot of love today!
The raves have convinced me to add it to my sample list.
I don’t have any “I” perfume so Atelier des Ors Pomelo Riviera it is.
SOTD = Indult Tihota
Indult has a very small collection and Inwoukd consider it little i.
I had occasion to request medical records in my mom’s behalf and had to leave a voicemail. The greeting was very offputting, bwith the main points being:
1) we’re very busy so we will TRY to get back to you within 48 business hours. What the —? No, not 2 business days but 48 business hours. Assuming they are open 12 hours a day, that’s 4 business days…and no, they are not open 12 hours a day…more like 8 hours tops which means Ithey are still within their SLA if I get a call back in 8 days later (counting the weekend).
2) We’re very busy. Don’t bother leaving a message if you are asking for status because we will not call you back.
Oy vey! I hope this is not standard!
Yikes! That’s the sort of customer service I expect from a government agency, not a private company (as a teacher, I deal with all sorts of state agencies, and few of them seem pleased to speak with me). I can’t help but imagine it comes from decades of folks being asked to “do more with less. . .”
Everything is an inconvenience, even the service you’re supposed to provide.
Are you able to go in person to get the medical records?
If it’s critical, I would.
Bletch on the whole medical records thing. It sounds like an utter PITA.
Imaginary Authors St. Julep on this hot, sunny day. ?
Happy Friday to everyone in NST land!
I’m wearing St Julep also.I’m not finding it has very much longevity but is lovely while it lasts.
Totally agree with your assessment! Needs frequent resprays, but I don’t mind.
Commando today for going to a minor league baseball game (Reading “Fightin’ Phils” Double A team). Last time Mom and Dad and I went, I had Gardener’s hand cream on from Crabtree & Evelyn. Mom said she could smell it in the car, so I wiped it off and tried Pear and Pink Freesia(?). I thought perhaps they’d like that better. Big nope. At that point we were sitting in the parked car at the stadium before the gates opened. “Get out of the car,” Dad said. I didn’t think he was serious, but after he repeated it a few times, I figured he was. So no perfume for today’s trip. I don’t want to get kicked out of the car somewhere over an hour from home. I always seem to learn the hard way, but I do learn.
Just wanted to say how much I love Gardener’s Hand Cream. Both the smell and the formula are great.
Oh, I liked the hand cream. My hands were very dry at the time. Mom had been all right with the scent when we were out in the open, but in a car it was too much for her. When I tried it in the store, she had thought it was the least offensive of the lot, and the sales assistant had said it was good for dry, rough hands. But Mom objects to any sort of fragrance in a car.
I hope you have a great time at the game!
Thank you. It was fun. I managed to have a very small celebration of chocolate ice cream day before the game, after a pulled pork sandwich for dinner. Later I pretended it was funnel cake day, too.
The Fightin’ Phils won the game, and there was a fireworks display afterward. The night’s theme was a celebration of Latino culture, so there were various announcements in both Spanish and English, and and many of the staff people were wearing luchador masks. I texted to my brother that even the Crazy Hot Dog Man was wearing a luchador mask for the occasion. He asked why the Hot Dog Man was crazy. “It’s what they call him,” I replied.
I continued a live text with my brother to report on events between innings. “There was an exciting twist in the Vegetable Race,” I texted. He’d seen people dressed in vegetable costumes running races, so he could understand that concept. “The Evil Candy Man was tackled by a luchador before he could trip up a vegetable.” That wasn’t a sentence I could have anticipated typing. lol
Have a good weekend!
Enjoy those Reading “Fighting Phils”! I went to a minor league game in Trenton with some friends a while back and enjoyed it a lot.
Minor league games can be fun, especially if you go with a group of friendly people and can get in some socializing, too. See above for some of the highlights of the “Fightin’ Phils” celebration of Latino culture night. Several team members are Hispanic, and the crowd appreciated the nods to Spanish speakers and Latin America.
Have a good weekend!
You did not ask for recommendations of fragrance free hand cream but I will share anyway:
– YuBe Advanced Formula Pure Hydration Cream with Chamomile Extract – the packaging is green and white. Don’t get the original formula (in white and orange packaging); available online directly from the company – there’s always some great deal going on so do not buy at list price
– Dionis Goat Milk Hand Cream Unscented (available at Ulta)
Thank you. I appreciate getting the advice. I’ll make a note of those.
1) Am in Prada Oeillet, so no points. I used to have Ineke Briar Rose and I used it to the last darn drop. I loved that jammy rose. I think that Black Jade and Amelie Mae has taken it’s place.
2) It’s a cool and stormy day here- but I will make vegan chocolate rum ice cream when I get home. Here’s teh secret that I discovered while making vegan ice cream – IT’S ACTUALLY A SORBET. If you treat it like a sorbet (even with addition of coconut cream and veggie oil) it comes out a winner.
I am not vegan, but I am lactose intolerant, so I make my own dairy free frozen treats from time to time. My best-textured ones come from adding a bit of xantham gum, which seems to keep the liquid from making big, crunchy crystals, even when it’s fairly low fat. Of course, coconut milk makes lovely frozen treats, too, but I try to avoid making that a regular indulgence.
Hmm. Going out to Sauvie Island for another flat of berries today. Maybe I need to make some strawberry sorbet?
1) Yes! I do use xanthan gum, and I make vegan ice cream for the same purpose (ease of digestibility). Basically my recipe:
1 cup soy or cashew milk
1 cup coconut milk full fat
blend together. set aside.
In a pot, make a syrup:
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 cup sugar
Stir until well blended and just starting to bubble, then add
1 tsp xanthan gum
2 tablespoons cocoa butter
2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons cold coffee
2/3 cup cocoa powder
1-2 tsp vanilla extract or vanilla bean
1/2 tsp salt
This should look like a rich, dark syrup.
Then combine the milks and syrup together. Use a blender is you wish. Let it cool in the fridge, then churn in the ice cream maker.
ARGH! I forgot the rum
Never forget the rum
Add a 1/4 cup of rum to the chocolate syrup base once cooled; then mix everything together and cool in fridge. Then churn.
NEVER forget the rum!
This is too funny ?
When you make the sorbet, make with a bit or vermouth or Luxardo kirsch. Seriously.
2) Never mind whether it’s ice cream or sorbet — there’s RUM!
trick 1: think of it as a sorbet
trick 2: put booze in it
methinks Ede97005 is all set for summer
Make your fruit sorbets with a bit of good white vermouth, or Luxardo kirsch just a touch to keep it low fi. I’m serious. All the sorbets you have before were worthless before this tip. WORTHLESS.
I recently discovered tuna confit and all the pan bagnats I have had before are worthless. WORTHLESS.
Rum Raisin is in my top favorite ice cream
Taste of the Tropics Rum Raisin makes me think of Brooklyn. So good.
Also: the Grape Nut Ice Cream!
My late step-mother was a baker, and she would sneak a bit of rum into all sorts of goodies. She liked it better than vanilla to round out and “sweeten” a flavor.
Same received wisdom from my grandmother; she thought chocolate desserts especially needed just a touch of rum.
A good dark rum is an excellent flavor in rich pound cakes and cookie fillings; chocolate ESPECIALLY benefits from rum in baked goods AND in hot cocoa make from cocoa pellets from Mexico.
I am wearing my brand-new Mugler Supra Floral and am feeling like spring even though it’s looking like fall out there.
I’ve been curious about Supra Floral. Enjoy your new bottle.
Wearing Ineke’s Sweet William and thanking the heavens that it’s at last Friday. Have a good one, y’all.
I don’t have any scents that work so I’m wearing Love In A Mist by Providence Perfume.
Wearing a perfume that you love is always CP appropriate, IMO.
Going into work much later than I am used to and it’s National Donut Day. Finished paying a couple Bill’s and wrapped a birthday gift for a coworker is is having a tough time. No points for me since I had a craving for the original Miss Dior. I am happy that I am off tomorrow. Having days off are the best.
Sampling Patchouli Noir from Il Profumo which is so far a pretty nice patchouli. Think this is the only scent from this brand so far that seems to be working on me
No points again for me since I am once again in DSH Chinchilla. Smelling fabulous over here!
On a tea note, I found a little tea shop here and had a nice visit with the SA. Since I am by no means a tea aficionado, she very kindly made some recommendations. I came away with several 2oz sizes of herbal and roiboos teas (I want caffeine free), one of which is named “Twilight on Timber.” The name alone deserves a prize of some sort. I’ve sampled two so far, Gold Moutain is fabulous, if you like Spicey teas. Looking forward to trying them all.
The weekend is almost here! You all are smelling appropriately celebratory✌?
chinchilla Sounds really good, so sad i cannot test it in Germany…
I love tea!
What a great experience to sample those
Twilight on Timber tea sounds dreamy.
Oh yeah for finding a good tea shop! ?
It’s partial credit for Illuminum Saffron Amber, a very ylang-ylang forward, floral amber and probably my favorite from the 3 Illuminum I own. The banana of ylang mixes well with a peach note and it is very wearable today (although more of a winter scent) as it is cool and has been raining most of the day – but the evening sun is flooding the living room.
Happy Friday everybody.
You smell beautiful!
Thank you AnnE.
A ylang-ylang forward amber sounds wonderful!
Yes, it’s a good combo of notes, another with similar notes is Private Collection: Amber Ylang-Ylang, do you know it?
Just a note that I may be out of town tomorrow, but I do have samples that I want to give away for the freebiemeet. I’ll figure it out.
The freebiemeet usually stays open for a whole week!
Good to know. I should be back by Sunday.
No CP for me , so i thunked Floris Night Scented Jasmin sample. Smells like hairspray go me. Now wearing Oriental Lumpur, because i brought a small bottle cheap for 15€, nearly full. Such a nice spicy oriental, reminds me of Kenzo Jungle Elefant…
Oh, that’s a great scent — nice bargain!
Continuing my week of roses in Noir de Noir of course. Yesterday I was in Sa Majeste la Rose. I can keep going over the weekend with Nirvana Rose and OJ Ta’if.
So fun news, we bought an Airstream camping trailer! We pick it up tomorrow in CO. We are so excited. We had one a while back in Alabama but didn’t bring it out to NM because we wanted a newer one and are just now getting around to getting another one. Time for some camping fun…well, if you call that camping lol.
Oh, nice! I hope you enjoy the heck out of your Airstream! There is a young family from Tennessee full timing in an Airstream for the past four years that are on YouTube. A lot of mods and info about Airstream, which might be interesting to you. Channel name is LessJunkMoreJourney. New Mexico is a fabulous place to camp- the prices and parks are amazing. You smell great!
They always look so cool on the outside – haven’t really seen one inside. Congratulations!
An Airstream!?! How fun! I love those campers. I would love to have one some day. Please post pictures on insta!
I will! We pick it up tomorrow and are immediately going to stop and try it out at a state park in southern CO!
Nice! Have a great time!?
That sounds so fun, and you smell so beautiful!
Perfect timing for your new-to-you Airstream! Enjoy!
Looking forward to your Airstream adventures!
You smell great, and how exciting about the van, may you have wonderful journeys in it.
Today is my monday, ugh. Looks like summer is here though, sitting at 85 degrees and sun?
No I’s for me. I’m wearing Shangri La and loving it. For some reason this perfume reminds me of Mad Men.
Isn’t Shangri La great? I tried it once this week from a sample. How was it in the heat?
I get the Mad Men connection; it’s something that would have been worn by Joan!
I really enjoyed it in the heat. And yes! I feel very Joan, wearing it. It has backbone, and is also sexy.
I’m happy to hear that summer has finally arrived for you lillyjo! You sure had a long hard winter.
It’s about dang time, for sure!
Shangri La is great. It reminds me very much of Mitsouko without the oakmoss.
Enjoy the warm weather!
I’ve never smelled Mitsouko, that I can recall anyway.
Oh you have to try Mitsouko, Lillyjo. The modern Mitsouko EDP is very good as it was formulated by Thierry Wasser to give it back its curves and oakmoss (Guerlain used an oakmoss without allergens).
Since you and I seem to have similar loves, I will seek it out!
Commando. We are leaving for Europe tomorrow and I’m all over the place trying to get stuff done. I’ll be spending some time deciding what to bring perfume wise!
Hope you have a fabulous trip! ✈️
Enjoy your trip!
Don’t take any, just bring some home!!
Safe travels! ✈
Have a fun and safe trip!
SOTD is Ineke Field Notes from Paris from a sample I’ve not tried before. Fragrantica says it’s meant to ‘capture the romantic, nostalgic feeling of sitting in a cafe and writing in a journal while lingering for hours over a cafe creme ‘ (that fragranice would be L’Or de Torrente for me). While I realize everyone’s response is different, none of the notes in this scent bring that image to mind for me. I can smell the citrus and coriander but am very disappointed that there’s not even a hint of my beloved nicotiana (tobacco blossom/flower) which is supposedly a heart note. Instead I get just a bit of sweet hay, which I don’t associate with Paris and can’t recall ever smelling when I visited there. I’m indifferent to it and will switch to something else later.
I will celebrate the day with Aldi’s Super Premium chocolate ice cream, which I think is the best ice cream in the whole world, although the vanilla is my very favorite!
Happy weekend everyone!
It’s a good day for Ice Cream! ???
My motto is Every Day is a Good Day for Ice Cream!
Now you have me lemming that ice cream ?
Really, this ice cream is the best. It only comes in vanilla and.chocolate. Usually I just buy the vanilla -it’s delicious plain or with fruit or syrup or whatever. I rarely buy any other brands or flavored ice creams anymore, my whole family is just stuck on this. Even my 11-year old grandson prefers this and asks for it whenever he comes over.
The lilacs in my yard are finally blooming, so I had to go with Ineke After My Own Heart.
Wow, that seems really late for lilacs to be blooming!
No CP points for me – I’m wearing Celestial Jasmine by EB Florals.
It’s my first day of summer vacation! This has been a crazy school year, and while I’m sad to see my students go I am very happy to have closed this chapter.
The last month has been so crazy that I just came back from a graduation party that I arrived at a day early. Boy, was the hostess surprised! I helped her make cupcakes.
I hope it’s a great summer for you!
Ha! Better to be a bit early! Betting you smell fantastic!
Happy Summer Break to a fellow educator!
Enjoy your summer and those cupcakes! ?
On a plane today, wearing a touch of Truth or Dare from a roll on since it stays close to the skin. I wonder if the spray would have more longevity since this was gone by the time we landed.
Robin, the mosaic in today’s picture is beautiful! Love it!
I did have a lone sample from a perfumer/house that started with “I” for today, but when I sniffed it this morning, my response was “Not happening today.” So I went backward in the alphabet, and am playing catch up with the letter that I missed.
SOTD = HdP 1740 EdP. I really like the scent, but am not a fan of the name attached to it.
I don’t like the name either.
I have a Discovery set sample, sprayed once. The fragrance is not my kind of thing. Would you like me to send the sample to you?
Waiting for my hairdresser and perusing IG:
You’re welcome ?
It’s funny when other people’s pets do that. Not so much if it’s one of my cats. ???
Very true! My brother’s Cavalier King Charles (Charleses? because 3 of them at one point) used to do that – the scooting thing — as the breed is known to have some anal gland something or other.
Imaginary Authors The Soft Lawn. Still not sure about this. The linden opening is strong, but the tennis ball note is just a bit odd for my taste. But I think I’ll keep trying….
CP for spending the day in Ineke Idyllwild, but now that I’m home I’ve topped up with Molinard Cuir.
I accidentally bought 2 bottles of this. I would only confess that here, ‘cause seriously, if I’m accidentally double buying, that’s, err, maybe a problem. ? But there are worse problems to have.
Like it quit a bit (and cheap and can’t be bothered to return) so I’ll keep it as a BUB.
Don’t think I’ve seen any Molinard mentions around here, but if anyone has any recommendations let me know!
Several of us wear Habanita in winter especially, it’s a powdery perfume, there is also Nirmala, the ancester of Angel, I haven’t followed the single notes ones: Vanille, Patchouli, Cuir… etc. Is Cuir a light leather?
*ancestor of course.
I forgot about Habanita, I’ve been wanting to put it on my “to sample” list. Such an interesting history!
Yes, Cuir is a light and somewhat floral/sweet leather. Very unisex to my nose.
I’ve since gotten a discovery set of the single note Molinards (purple bottles), but haven’t really put them to the test yet. Will report when I do…
My Friday SOTD was L’Iris de Fath! You can read about it on my blog, linked to my username. I’m counting it as starting with I …
