Tom Ford Lavender Extreme ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 28 March 2019 21 Comments

Tom Ford will launch Lavender Extrême, a new fragrance in the Private Blend collection.

Fresh. Divergent. Stimulating.

Tom Ford transcends the traditional limits of scent with Lavender Extreme. Lavender is reworked and refracted like it never has been before to become something irreverently new a stunning, electric creation to be worn at maximum volume.

Lavender is upended, translated from its storied origin in Provence and into a fresh subversion of itself.

Tom Ford Lavender Extrême will be available in 50 ($320) and 250 ($815) ml Eau de Parfum.

(via tomford, hat tip to David!)

Why does everything need to be extreme? With lavender in particular, a light touch is better than a heavy hand. I am assuming here that extreme does not refer to extremely light…. 🙂

True, but most of what he is doing now is lighter versions of his Private Blends…

Well it must be extreme if it’s going to “transcend the traditional limits of scent” !!

Ugh that ad copy. And that price. (I’m sure this is their standard pricing, but it’s ridiculous.)

I am (still, after all these years) shocked that the brand sells as well as it does…

I’m to M habitually shocked. I do enjoy Santal Blush, but at about a third of the price.

It’s their standard pricing for the ‘premium’ private blends ( like F Fabulous, Lost Cherry etcJ.

When TF first launched Lavender Palm in 2012 it was in a limited edition chrome bottle almost identical to this (just with a gold label) and they sold it for $250 for 50ml / $950 for the 250ml – makes me wonder if this is a reiteration of Lavender Palm which was discontinued a couple of years ago.

Oh, that would be pretty exciting for me. I love Lavendar Palm.

However, “maximum volume” lavender could be dreadful.

I see that silver bottle and all I can think of..huge amounts of white musk may be in it lol. Idk Penhaligons Lavandula is a goodie at a fraction of the price. Or Gris Clair..or even cheaper…lavender esstiental oil from TJ Maxx:)

*rolls eyes* Maximum Volume? For Lavender?

    1) I assume this is a fougere, yes? So actually this is not something that you want at max volume- more of a medium level chatter at most.

    2) and lavender does not behave that anyways- it can be radiant but it is more of a scent that rises into the air with body heat and breezes.

    3) “Tom Ford Lavender Extrême will be available in 50 ($320) and 250 ($815) ml Eau de Parfum.”

          $815 is pretty flabbergasting.

Is it just sales tax that makes these more expensive in the US ? In the Uk 250ml bottles of the more ‘premium’ private blends (like FF) retail for £515 which converts to ‘only’ around $665. $150 per bottle is a big chunk above what Europe pays when our prices already include 20% tax !

No, online prices in the US never include sales tax — that is added later, and the amount depends on where you live.

Wow, so in the UK he’s almost GIVING it away !

I thought £515 inc tax was a lot but if you’re being charged $815 PLUS tax I’m flabbergasted too !

Well to be clear, whether or not you pay more tax depends on where you live and how you buy …but in most states, yes, you’re going to pay tax too!
