Hey, it's Friday! Our community project for today: celebrate the arrival of spring by wearing your favorite spring fragrance. (If it's fall where you are, you know what to do.)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
It continues cold, gray, rainy, and basically not-spring here. I'm waiting impatiently to switch to my summer wardrobe (and I'm previewing next Friday's project as well) in Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré.
Reminder: on 3/29, wear an orange blossom or neroli fragrance, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows detail from the Hermès Cache-cache Fleuri silk twill scarf 90, $415.
It’s cold and snowing but I am in the creamy lilac goodness of Sarah Horowitz Parfum Brigitte.
I am in Chloe today and thought of you
??
And you smell amazing!!!!!
Snow, boo!
???
I’m hoping that your snow won’t stick!
This past winter was *monstrous*, and yesterday was temperate, a huge relief, because it means that spring is actually going to come sooner or later. (We’re due for another brief cold blast but that should be the end of it.)
So I get to break out the spring things, and my all-time favourite is Yves Rocher Homme Nature, which starts off bright and cheerily green and slowly slowly descends into warm woody earthiness with a slosh of oakmoss, always welcome. It’s really the perfect early-spring scent. I don’t know why they discontinued it — I mean, I know why, but it was the wrong decision. Thank god I have enough to last me the rest of my life.
Our winter wasn’t really monstrous, just long and dreary. One more brief cold blast might be more than I could take 🙂
Not as much snow as we usually get in eastern Canada, but it was brutally cold and for no known reason the wind was INCESSANT, frozen knives being shoved through your clothing for months on end. My face was so dry but I fought it with just about every moisturizer and facial oil known to man. And I got through it! I BEAT YOU, MURDER WIND.
Omg, I laughed so hard at this! Murder wind! I didn’t think anyone took winter as an assault besides me?
LOL — you win!
I chose Diptyque Philosykos, layered with a bit of Tam Dao. Props to Robin, who may not have been the first to combine these but who is the person from whom I first heard about it. Lovely spring combo. Happy Friday at last!
That combo does sound lovely!
🙂
Scent sibling: Philosykos!
I have both of those and need to try layering them!
Me too!
Very nice! I often layer the Philosykos body lotion with Do Son body mist. I think Diptyque’s scents work well for layering!
It’s does very much like spring where I live. Daffodils outside and inside.
And, daffodils on me as well. Wearing Ostara to celebrate my favourite season.
Sorry to hear that you still have crap weather, at least you smell wonderful! Néroli Doré is one of his best eaux.
Twins! And we smell amazing. 🙂
Good to hear I’m not the only one in this stunning fragrance. I wonder if there will be more of us 🙂
We usually have daffodils by now! They are up, but no buds.
Wow! Out here in California, we’ve had daffodils since December. In fact, there are hardly any left by now. My freesias are already out!
I’m finally starting to see buds on my neighbor’s forsythia. It seems like that is late this year.
Oh my! I forgot all about Ostara. It’s tucked back behind all my cold weather perfume. I’ll wear it tomorrow.
Ostara here too!
Perfect image for your fragrance today, Robin, and they’re both lovely. Sometimes you have to wear the opposite of the weather to keep hope alive, hmm?
Mine is SL Bas de Soie, after much inner debate.
I finally found my stash of spring/summer travel decants, and I guess I must be dying for spring, since I had about 10 in the running. The winner was almost CBIHP Black March, which is pretty much the poster child fragrance for New England spring weather, when I get excited to smell the ground again, lol!
However, Bas de Soie made me swoon all over again, so that’s my pick.
Have nice weekend, every one!
I considered Black March too…but I think I commented yesterday that it is not even Black March weather here yet!
Oh, no! Hope you thaw out soon.
MMmmmm… You smell lovely! I use SL Bas de Soie as a serene scent when I am getting tired of heavy bombastic perfumes.
Exactly.
Lagerfeld’s Chloe from the 70’s
I can’t get enough and it will be a spring favorite
So beautiful.
Perfection
Ahhhh, Gorgeous stuff.
You smell fantastic today, as you know. A friend of mine wore nothing but Chloe in the seventies and it was SO GOOD. Whenever anyone says, “They don’t make them like that any more,” Chloe is exactly the sort of thing they’re talking about.
It’s still so good..
I am glad the bottle is not a spray or else Chloe would announce me before I entered the room..
It was wearable as a spray because it was EDT in the spray version. I wore it in the late 70s and early 80s and drained MANY a bottle. Our beautiful bottle with the calla lily stopper is pure perfume. Now that you would not want to spray!
I loved that one so much.
(Too bad I have flashbacks to high school wearing it now.)
I’m in a very springy mood wearing Chamade.
Such a great choice!
Chamade is perfect for this time of year, in fact I considered it for today’s CP before changing my mind.
Scent twins! We smell great!
Triplets!
It’s a beautiful spring day here, and I am wearing La Chasse aux Papillons. Perfection.
Almost wore it today. You smell lovely!
That is a great choice. Artisans are wonderful for spring, I think.
Definitely perfection! You smell lovely. When I think “spring” that is one of the first that comes to mind.
Such a lighthearted fragrance.
Was very unsure what to wear today but finally chose Chanel No. 19 (vintage EDT). Strictly speaking, it’s not my spring favorite, but it’s green and has iris, and it feels right today.
I thought about No. 19 for today too. Never smelled the vintage before – you must smell wonderful!
Vintage is the way to go. It’s exquisite.
Yaaaaas.
No. 19 is always right!
Wonderful choice!
Sotd is Iris Nazarena, because I broke my no buy. Here’s the story…
Last Sunday, during a bad day at work, decided to search perfume on my lunch. I came across the AdV travel sampler 3 pack at Barneys. The gwp was a ten ml travel spray of original AdV, plus for signing up for emails, I would get ten percent off. I had to ask myself, what would Hajusuuri do? So… I ordered it. Enabler pin for H!
However, when my package arrived, there was no gwp AdV. Instead they sent me a beauty bag. Again, asked myself what would Hajusuuri do? 4 phone calls later, I finally talked with someone who is supposed to send me the correct gwp. I hope she does, because as of right now, I am extremely disappointed with their customer service. The 3 perfumes in the sampler are Iris Nazarena, Copal Azur and Oeillet Bengale. I smell so awesome ?
Btw, still no spring here.
No spring?! I will send you some-stat!????
I hope your customer service issues get resolved. I had to lol at your What would hajusuuri do?
I lol’d too. 🙂
As I mentioned on Weds I am trying to match the line “What is all this juice and all this joy?” from the Gerald Manley Hopkins poem Spring (which is also something you might say upon opening your perfume drawer/box/closet!) I think the best fit for the line is Arielle Shoshana but ended up wanting something green so went for AG Chevrefeuille.
Oh sorry lillyjo, I meant to leave that as its own comment. I think I had opened a comment box here to say that I think some beauty stores don’t understand that for some of us perfume is not just another beauty product!
You should have heard the customer service guy try to explain to me the value of the beauty bag. I said, yes, it is a lovely assortment, but you need to understand the value of ten ml of a perfume favorite. Lol
Exactly! Who wants a bunch of face cream samples when you could have 10 mls of great perfume??
I really like that line, and also think Arielle Shoshanna could work very well with it. Bergamote Soleil or Orange Sanguine could also work for it…
Isn’t that annoying when they mess up on a relatively small thing and then it takes forever to get it right?
The first 3 people didn’t even try to make it right. Very annoying.
Aww, that’s a bummer. I hope they take care of it. I rarely buy anything there, but once while sniffing I witnessed a pretty bad customer service exchange with a customer who had a reasonable claim. They were being really unnecessarily difficult and digging in their heels as if they weren’t a multibillion dollar business.
But, I hope you enjoy your AdVs! You deserve it ?
Thanks ! Yeah… I’ve never purchased from them before. I felt pretty fancy for a few minutes.
Yay for your really wonderful purchase! Hope you get that travel spray GWP ASAP 🙂 (I also have some hope that they will let you keep the beauty products, too, as penance for their mistake!)
It was a spur of the moment purchase. It seemed like a really good deal. The beauty bag is actually fantastic, and I will enjoy it,but AdV is so perfect for me, I would not have purchased if not for the gwp.
How annoying, fingers crossed for a happy ending, they should let you keep that beauty bag too.
I think they should, but fingers definitely crossed.
Wow, look at you channeling Hajusuuri! I hope that you do get the GWP that you were supposed to in the first place.
Ha! Yeah, I really tried to say what I thought she would say, when talking to customer service.
Congrats on the gorgeous new fumes! Great choices.
Thank you! I’m excited ?
Sorry to those with crummy weather, I can certainly relate.
After a mostly overcast week, the sun is finally out in full force. Tomorrow is my Monday ☹️, so I’m going to spend the last day of my staycation thrifting with my daughter. Later this afternoon we will settle in for some basketball watching.
I’m in the bright and cheery Le Labo Bergamote 22.
Boo to going back to work. Yay for thrifting, daughter’s and sun?
Triple yay!?
House twin! Have a wonderful day with your daughter.
Hey house twin! Thank you!
You do smell bright! I hope the day is extra long for you ?
What a fun afternoon, hope you found some treasures 🙂
Le labo’s lys 41 for me today. Smelling perfect!
Have a fantastic day.
Swoon. Such a beautiful one!
I’m in a Le Labo fragrance today also…Labdanum 18.
Hello all!
My allergies were so bad today that I couldn’t smell anything but my tea tree oil! So I restocked on my allergy pills on my way to work. I picked Elixir du Dr. Flair since I could smell the juniper note. However, 10 minutes after taking my medicine, I can smell so much better. Still very disconcerting but at least I’m fixed. 🙂
I forgot to add, Robin, I wore Neroli Doréto bed the other night. Perfect for ushering the warmer temps.
You know, I never wear it to bed and I should!
Sorry about the allergies. One of the down sides of spring for us who has ’em…
In Houston, everyone gets allergies. Pollen everywhere. 🙁
Robin, you smell perfect!
I’m bringing the spring in Eau de Givenchy.
I love that one ❤️❣️♥️
What is that one like?
On me it’s a pretty spring floral (Fragrantica lists lily, honeysuckle, and LOTV) with a little bit of musk and oakmoss in the base to give it some grit. I blind-bought a mini bottle from ebay last year and am really glad I did.
I think I have the “vintage” version though – Givenchy launched a new version of Eau de Givenchy last year with a different formulation.
You smell wonderful, I adore this one, I wonder what the new Eau de Givenchy is like.
I wonder too. Heard it’s very neroli-forward, so of course I’m curious!
The new one is very much a traditional eau de cologne scent like 4711, Neroli Portofino and many others that lie between the price points of these two. It is not at all like the original from the 1980s which I didn’t expect it to be, but hoped it might before I got the chance to try it. Sigh!
Thank you for the mini review Viridiaan, oh dear the world hardly needed another cologne, so many excellent ones already, the two you list are already pretty much my favorites of the genre.
I loved and wore the heck out of this one in the 80s. I also read the reformulated one is heavy on the neroli, which wouldn’t be a bad thing for me. Just wonder about how laundry-musk-y it may be now. Gorgeous scent!
Good morning ! Beautiful spring day here. I am wearing Guerlain Idylle today, and drinking a cup of green jasmine tea.
Robin, you smell great !
I love Idylle! If been tempted off and on to blind buy the parfum, since it has been discontinued.
Jasmine tea is so good in spring. (Or anytime, really, but especially spring.)
You smell lovely!
I am in FM Dans Tes Bras. Mmmmm the salty goodness. The high hasn’t quite reached 50 yet but the last two days have been sunny and just wonderful. I have started wearing flats again!
I love DtB too! My favorite Malle, and on my wish list.
My favorite Malle too!
Love DtB. It’s strange and wonderful. Go get ‘em on your C25K! I need to restart it, and right now is a great idea. Inertia is a powerful force—someone told me everything worthwhile is uphill. Be well.
My walk home from work is uphill, so that’s true for me in a very literal way ?
A lovely violet perfume, if money was no object I would have already bought a bottle.
You smell great!
I’m wearing Chamade, the proverbial springtime in a bottle.
Yes! Swoon…
Chamade was my first thought for spring. It has a beautiful scent trajectory, shifting and lovely. You smell wonderful.
I see several among you made that excellent choice.
Scent twins! Beautiful choice.
Hello scent twin!
Don’t have a seasonal fumedrobe, but entering into the spirit of the project with Ostara by Penhaligons.
That’s a spring perfume to my nose. You smell great!
To me, Ostara is like a colorful easter egg – very spring-y.
I love Ostara…you smell great!
Sometimes having year round classification allows you to discover different facets of fragrances.
That’s a good point.
Ostara! Be still my heart.
Ostara for me too!
Eau de Merveilles or Dune, going to start a C25k RIGHTNOW, and one of those will be nice in the sun ?
Flopper, I quite like your new avatar! What is it?
Thank you Koyel! I did an Internet search for royalty free art, something like that, and found this one.
I have as of late been diving deep into my perfume collection in order to comfort myself… I have a torn labrum in my hip and it has been hurting for three months…OUCH!! Surgery is likely in the cards… but alas PERFUME (along with acupuncture and anti inflams) is getting me through…
My choice today is Nicolai Le Temps d’une Fete
Sorry to hear about the pain, good luck with surgery.
Thank you!
Definitely OUCH. I wish you getting better, with or without surgery.
You smell great!
Yes it certainly helps to smell good through all adversity
thank you !
OUCH.
Please be gentle with yourself!
Good luck with your surgery. Perfume helps us get through lots of things. You will be glad you had it done once it’s over with.
I hope so!
I’m sorry about your hip, but your scent is fabulous today. One of my favorites.
Hoping for your recovery.
Thank you so much!
Sorry about the pain. Wishing you speedy recovery!
Thanks! The process will take awhile… I need to keep a positive attitude and stay smelling great! I so appreciate all the support in response to my comment…
Scent twins today. Ouch, I sure hope you’re on the mend soon!
I am still wondering if they discontinued it because it is no longer on their website.
Ouch, that sounds very painful and I hope you find some relief soon. Take comfort from your wonderful sotd.
Thank you and yes I take much comfort in beautiful fragrance!
A torn labrum sounds painful. Good luck with recovery.
Thank you Jalepeno! .. I am learning about chronic pain thats for sure! Thank you.
Hi and Happy Friday all! My SOTD is one of my all-time spring favorites, vintage Lauren, with notes of violets, cyclamen, lilac and tagetes. Perfectly herbal and crisp.
Adore vintage Lauren. When it came out, many I knew wore it and I liked it on them but was more of a Dioressence gal myself. Now, I appreciate it’s spring beauty even more. You smell beautiful!
I wore it back in the h.s. days, it brings back such incredible memories.
Lauren and Colors de Benetton were frequently worn. I wish I could find my bottle of Colors!
You smell absolutely lovely! One of my favorites from long ago.
Thanks Gail! 😀
I know someone who has Lauren as her signature scent
Smelling lovely, I enjoy that one very much but don’t wear it that often, a good friend used to wear it exclusively, that’s probably why.
And the World is Yours by a Lab on Fire. First full bottle (tiny bottle) wearing. Complicated orange blossom, an LA-specific oxymoron. Perfect for today.
I have been thinking of getting that as a blind buy – I love orange blossom and the price is right. “Complicated orange blossom” makes it even more interesting. Thanks for the 3 word review!
It’s quite potent, so make sure you like your orange blossoms on full blast! I do, so I love it 🙂
Thanks Koyel! And, happy to read elsewhere that your Dad is doing well – major illness can be a drain on the family and caregivers as well as the person grappling with the illness.
Thanks, meredifay 🙂 I’m really happy about that, too!
The price is so reasonable that it seems like a logical blind buy! But for what it is worth, it turns out I am cuminphobic (so disappointed in myself!), and this one teetered into too much cumin territory for me at times.
I struggle with cumin too, so we’re twins in that respect, keep struggling, for eg a fragrance that sounds as if it resembles The World is Yours SL Fleurs d’Oranger was ruined by the cumin note for me (sigh).
Hey, if you want mine, I’ll save it for you for the swap tomorrow.
Oh that is generous! I hope I have something you are interested in to swap. We can talk by email during the swap. 🙂
My blind buy may be your gain. ?
I have that little bottle and always forget it’s there. I need to wear it!
FM En Passant today. Lilacs! Olivia Giacobetti! I ONLY wear this in spring, so it’s definitely my favorite spring perfume.
Oops, to clarify: I save it for spring. I’ve got plenty of other perfumes for spring but I also wear them other times of year.
You smell so lovely!
Beautiful weather here in Paris. Wearing my new Bois des Îles extrait. [swoons]
Twins!
Beautiful weather, Paris, BdI…
Is there anything you don’t have!, lol
Enjoy your great day ?
😉
You smell great!
You smell fabulous; my Bois des Iles extrait was also a souvenir from a Paris trip 🙂
Wearing Ombre dans l’Eau, and really enjoying it on a rainy day.
The body balm for that is beautiful.
Good morning, dearest NST friends! I woke up about half an hour earlier than usual, which is to say half an hour before sunrise, and expected the sun to come up as I made my way to work, but it turns out the sun has decided to hide behind big, wet clouds all day, so it’s just as gloomy now as it was when I woke up.
I woke up to good news! My father got his halfway-through-chemo PET scan, and it sounds like everything is on track! He says the chemo has performed better than expectation, which is a tremendous relief to hear. He’s still got three more months of chemo ahead, and goodness knows what other challenges, but it seems everything is going well, so I’m having a good day 🙂
I also smell spectacular in JM Honey & Crocus, which is my absolute favorite JM and one of my favorite scents of all time. It fits perfectly with spring, and is a little ray of sunshine for me in today’s rain!
Such good news!!! Enjoy the day!
Thank you, Regina <3
Such great news! I hope he continues to do well!
Thanks, Elisa P! Me too!
Good news, good perfume, hope your weekend will be great, too!
Thanks, Eschmeling! Yours too!
Glad to hear your news.
You smell good in that spring-y perfume.
Thank you, Undina 🙂
Great news, Koyel! Have a lovely day!
Thanks, Gail! You too!
I forgot to say, my coworker smelled really gorgeous yesterday, and she told me it was Lancome Poeme. I don’t know how I got through, good heavens, is it now three years since I fell down the perfume rabbit hole?? without smelling Poeme, but I can’t remember what it smells like NOT on her. I don’t see it mentioned much here, but it was nice to smell someone else who smelled great.
Oh Koyel, so glad to see your good news, and you smell lovely. Enjoy your weekend.
Oops sorry, I thought I was commenting on your main post. I know that I have smelled Poeme but it’s been many years ago, nice to have a positive perfume experience with a coworker 🙂
Yay for great news!
Yay 🙂 thanks, Laura!
So glad for your good news! The sun came out, metaphorically, for you. Best wishes to your father.
Thanks, skalolazka! 🙂
OMG! This is AWESOME!!!!
Ain’t NOTHING gonna break his stride!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv7iXqVclbk
And you smell GREAT
Thank you, Ede! And–what a fabulous song! I’d never heard it before, but I’ve heard more modern songs that very clearly draw from it!
Thanks for letting us know the good news!
🙂 thrilled to be able to share it!
What fantastic news, enjoy your great day!
Thanks, flopper!
Great news!
🙂
So glad about the good news, Koyel.
Thanks so much, Aurora! Me too!
Such good news koyel, really happy to hear this!
Thanks, mayfly 🙂
Wonderful news! Best wishes for your dad’s continued recovery. May he get stronger each day.
Awesome news, Koyel!
Great news! And you do smell spectacular 🙂
Excellent news, Koyel. I hope it gets better and better for him. And you smell lovely!
Such wonderful news Koyel! I wish your dad continued progress that will astound his doctors. You are definitely having a FriYAY!
Yay for the good news! And you smell great too.
I wore spring scents last week–getting ahead of myself with Ostara, Dryad, Fathom V, No.19 and all. Today I forgot about the cp and am smouldering away in the smoky depths of Hyde.
Sometimes it’s nice to be contrary.
In Houbigant Quelques Fleuers L’Original! A spring favorite!
Have a happy Friday everyone!
Ah! You are lucky ? to have the original, meaning vintage?
I will say it is semi vintage. The current formulation is pretty bland.
Lucky !
I am not jealous
Jour d’Hermes Absolu because someone called it “liquid sunshine” this week and that sounded so good, especially since it’s rather dreary here right now.
On my 3rd coffee and I’m still dragging. Stayed out too late last night, but had an awesome time at one of my most favorite uke meetups. I kept telling myself I’d leave after the next song, but then we’d decide on something really fun to play and I couldn’t pull myself out, lol. We usually video one song and last night it was Spirit in the Sky (Norman Greenbaum) ✌?
I read “Spirit in the Sky” and immediately got an ear worm. i will be singing that to myself all day long. LOL!
Ha! There are worse earworms…
Oh, yes, I am not really complaining at all. I like that song, bouncy optimism in the beat and melody a bit at odds with the words, if you pay attention to them.
I know! I’m curious what inspired that song…
Me too!
Fun! And you smell good. I love that song….worth staying out late for.
Good decision to wear Jour Absolu to fight the weather. Your ukulele sessions sound so fun.
Your ukulele meetups sound like they are a total blast!
It’s snowing outside right now and I can’t wait until spring really gets here. Wearing vintageish no 19 edp.
I don’t know where you are, Dawn, but when we get spring snow in the Great Lakes I just remind myself that it won’t last. Your perfume choice is spring perfection.
Happy Friday!
The sun is here, the birds are chirping, and I’m on a month long vacation after finishing a great project. Life is good.
I’m wearimg Eau de Magnolia in honor of the big beautiful magnolia down the street that seemed to go into full bloom overnight.
I treated myself to a mini coffret from FM and I’m excited to have more of this lovely EdM plus others though can’t really get over spending as much as I did for what is really just a deluxe sample set. Oh well, they don’t just give this stuff out for free anymore.
You smell wonderful and nice gift-to-self! Yeah, even their samples have gone from their former 3.5ml in glass atomizers, to little plastic 1ml atomizers.
On more than one occasion I had to stop myself from buying that set: I don’t need it, I have a couple of bottles from the line that I love, and I don’t need the rest… And still every time I see it, I want it 🙂 So, congratulations on your acquisition. And you smell good.
Have a terrific vacation – are you going to take any trips?
Thanks! I don’t have anything big planned. I was thinking of doing a little road trip down to Portland or something but realized I’d let my passport expire ?
Too lazy to figure out what is my fave spring frag, so celebrating mainstream Friday instead in Donna Karan Cashmere Aura. Pleasant enough (although if you run away in horror from anything with “fresh musk” this is definitely not your jam!). At some point I picked up a roller ball of this that I decanted into a spray . . . This one is so close to being nice. If the laundry MUSK were replaced with something just ever so slightly less CLEAN, we’d have that sweet scent of a mid-day shower, followed by sun and wind . . . I’d really like this scent in a bar of soap.
Wonder if there is a musk you can layer it with to make it a tad less clean?
In Coromandel. Ok, I’m cheating a little – I just got the sample in the mail and have been dying to try it. It could work for a stormy spring day, perhaps (as we are supposed to have today)?
I’ve been so busy with work that I haven’t had time to post all week, but I’m stoked for the swap meet!
Cheating always allowed 🙂
I had so many choices for the cp but had to go with DeProfundis. It’s probably my favorite spring scent.
Love this one but for me it’s fall perfume. But nevertheless, you smell amazing.
Thank you! I can see it being a fall favorite as well.
You smell divine!
Thanks Laura!
I’m in Stilettos on Lex. It seemed cheerful and cheeky on a gorgeous spring day. Be well.
Good choice! Enjoy your day!
FriYAY! At work in a spritz of DSH Madonna Lily (with many thanks to a lovely Seattle NST perfumista) and very happy that spring is here.
Speaking of which, I’d like to plan a Seattle spring get-together – I’ll post again, but please anyone who sees this and is interested, feel free to contact me via my screen name above.
I’m playing along in one of my spring favorites, Vent Vert ( the Calice Becker version) even though I don’t usually wear it on such a cold day. Love that initial blast of green.
You smell terrific, me too what I have is the CB version, which is so affordable.
I’ll be joinng you tomorrow in the same version of Vent Vert – my favorite burst of green!
Love that!
I’m wearing Berdoues Assam of India. When the sun comes out and the temperatures start to warm up a tad I reach for tea scents rather than florals.
Lovely perfume, I like it in warm weather as well.
Waves!
1) SOTD: In Philosykos! It’s something I would wear in the summer, but it was so fresh and refreshing after my exercise routine this morning.
2) Will take some time today to set up my blog and domain name- it’s high time. I used to have one, but working in film, and then working in Europe it fell to the wayside. Would like to take it up again.
You smell wonderful!
Good luck with your endeavors! I hope you’re going WordPress and not Blogger.
Definitely going WordPress! I had Blogger before but just too many issues.
Wearing one of my all time favs for spring – Le Dix !!
It is finally sunny here! Cold, but I’ll take a cold sunny spring day over a cold gray spring day! ?
Beautiful perfume!
Le Dix is so delicate and pretty and violets are meant for spring.
A vintage mini of Le Dix parfum gifted to me years ago had me fall in love with this fragrance – and violet as a scent note. I’d never smelled it before. Wonderful choice!
One of my forever favorites! You smell beautiful.
Not warm or sunny so my favorite spring scent of Desarmant isn’t appropriate. Instead I’m in Marron Chic which I like best in cooler weather.
L’Heure Exquise sounds about right, as it is pretty exquisite outside. The cherry blossoms are finally coming out after what is about a month’s delay.
It’s a perfect perfume for the perfect day! You smell great!
Lovely!
If it had been sunny today, i would have worn La Chasse aux Papillions, but it is cloudy and spitting rain and the occasional snowflake, so I went with the classic spring choice, Apres l’Ondee. Right now I am in the powdery phase. I love this fragrance – I have had several good things happen while wearing it, and sniffing it always makes me cheerful and hopeful. 🙂 The power of those simple scent associations.
Apres L’Ondee is always a great selection…it is such a beautiful fragrance.
Guerlain has several scents that are perfect for spring. That’s definitely one of them.
It’s a cooler rainy day, which I still enjoy, but even birds refuse not to believe it’s Spring, so it sounds very cheerful outside of my window (and my cat Rusty tried to make me to get up earlier to fully appreciate it in his company – he hadn’t succeeded).
Wearing Prada Infusion de Mimosa as a part of the CP and my own mimosa week project. I like it and will end up with a bottle eventually.
Happy Friday to everyone!
Went with Jo Malone Elderflower and Gooseberry. I was missing it, when I’m usually perfectly content with my cold weather choices, so surely that means something.
Btw – Us was incredible! Scarier than Get Out and broader in scope and ambition. A few more like these and we’ll be mentioning Jordan Peele in the same breath as Hitchcock, Craven, and Carpenter. Exciting!
Oooh I’m so excited to see Us! Thanks for your report. I probably won’t go until Sunday afternoon.
Violetta for me today. I think I did not wear it at all in 2018, so am enjoying revisiting this old friend.
And today is the last day of our spring break. Grey and rainy here, so I am I interspersing grading with baking. (Chocolate babka from a King Arthur kit. Good, but not as good as the babka we get from Russ & Daughters. I’ve spiked today’s loaf with four ounces of Ghirardelli dark baking chocolate. Can’t hurt, right)
Good choice, I’m very fond of Violetta but like you I think I haven’t worn it in a long time.
Amouage Fate today. ✌?
Good stuff!
Yes good stuff. I went through the decant I had quickly!
I love Fate. 🙂
Encre Noire!
Friday!
Weekend!
Beer!
Sun!
You’ve got your priorities well sorted! Especially beer before sun 🙂
?
….switching to gin tonic right now.
but i am not a big drinker, so I think that’s all the alcohol for today ?
Neither am I, but there is something very irresistible about beer, spring and sunshine!
Le Temps d’une Fete today, which is cheering me up while I do the farm books. BLeah.
Well, you smell really wonderful.
I’m not wearing anything today, but i think the collar of my jacket is wearing n5 edt. It smells sooooo good. Hi Spring!
That works!
I have a variety of spring scents I love, but I settled on Yosh Sottile today..,is okay becUse I very rarely wear it. Tea Rose and Muguet. Checks the box.
Sister left yesterday, and I think my feet are still sore from all our walking. We found out earlier in the week our kitty has thickened intestinal wall and a mass. We aren’t doing any more tests to confirm the cancer and will simply give him steroids for a while. He took a shine to my sister, so they had some sweet time together this week. It was so nice having her here.
Well that first sentence is kind of incoherent… I just meant I seem to rarely wear Sottile, but it’s nice.
Glad you had a nice time with your sister, sorry about your cat, hoping for a good outcome.
So sorry about your kitty.
Aww sorry about your kitty ?
Sorry to hear about your kitty.
I’m sorry about your kitty, I hope you have some good quality time left with her.
Twinning with many of you in Ostara. It’s perfect today. I’m also wearing floral prints just about everywhere but my jeans today, so I’m definitely feeling springy!
Looking forward to swap meet tomorrow! I need to finalize my swap list tonight. It’s been a very busy week. I thought I’d have the swap list finished by now. Thank goodness it’s Friday!
Aren’t we smelling great?
Yes we are!
Ostara is wonderful! We all smell great.
Just back from Christchurch, visiting my mum. There was a golden moment yesterday when the national radio and national TV broadcast the Muslim call to prayer followed by two minutes silence. It really felt like the whole country stopped and came together. It was extremely moving and powerful. I realise how much comfort and stability I feel through attending to nature: seeing the huge full moon near the horizon just before dawn, the stars, the dogs that wake me up on the dot of 5.16 every morning, the sound of blackbirds…I don’t know but its the circular rhythms that provide a sense of continuity and strength. Gosh, it’s so sad here. Really, really sad.
I think New Zealand is dealing with this so gracefully, I hope you will continue to find some little comfort in that.
Yes ‘gracefully’ is such a good way of describing how New Zealand have responded to these horrendous events, and I have so much admiration for their leader too, what an amazing woman.
Kanuka, may it bring you comfort and peace to know that I am one with you under that same beautiful full moon. Stay strong.
I looked out the kitchen window this morning at the same moon. We are all in this together.
And I very much agree at how calming nature is. Sending my love across the waters to you and NZ.
I am so sorry you are grieving — but the whole country grieving together is so wonderful it is making me feel joy, mingled with jealousy.
Such a lighthearted fragrance.
This ended in the wrong place, sorry.
I am another person here in lilac. The tree in my back yard is leafing and soon there will be flowers. SOTD is Lilac extrait by Roja Dove.
Lilac is one of the definitions of spring for many of us.
Yes…love lilac and don’t see it in too many fragrances. It would be fun to do a community project around that note.
After hesitating I went with Cacharel Anais Anais, the very first perfume I owned, I don’t recall teenage angst fortunetaly when smelling it, rather the good times. The hyacinth and galbanum are so easily detectable in this one.
Anais Anais is beautiful. I haven’t smelled it in a really long time but I also wore it in my youth like you.
Echoing this.
Oh, you too Lillyjo. If the memories of it are good don’t hesitate to revisit it and the really good news is that Cacharel has made a good job of keeping Anais Anais l’Original in good form imo.
So glad we share this memory, I think this one is very popular as a first perfume, my bottle is vintage because it so very affordable in the UK, but I was pleased to compare with the recent Original version for a gift and concluded that it smells very recognizable.
Oh, this is good to know.
Seconding this!
Cacharel really took care when IFRA made reformulations necessary, their other perfumes Eden for eg is still very good too, Loulou a little paler but in a sense more wearable, Noa still lovely. I also love Anais Anais flanker Premier Delice pear, flower and chocolate which I was wearing recently.
Me as well – Anais Anais and Loulou.
Yes, another fan! Cacharel scents are so likeable because they always seem quirky and original to me.
This is also my sotd. I find it to be both joyful and serious, and am glad you have it to accompany you on your healing journey.
Oops! Meant this to be a reply to sarahbeth above! (Les Temps de un Fete)
Wearing Diptyque’s L’Eau de Tarocco from my brand spanking new bottle. Probably more of a summer favorite, but I couldn’t resist cracking it open.
Went out to an estate this morning (I am dealer who specializes in vintage/antique clothes) and the mothball smell was so intense that I fear it has entered my pores. Might need to re-shower and re-spray.
Happy weekend!
Ugh, I hate that smell!
SOTD: Gucci Bloom.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Definitely springy!???
Very pretty, that Gucci.
I opted for Berdoues Peng Lai today.
When I saw today’s cp awhile ago, I immediately knew I’d be choosing one of two favorite early spring fragrances highlighting one of two of my favorite early spring notes. If the day were cold, dreary, rainy, then patchouli – EARTH, – would be my choice. If it was warm and sunny, then galbanum – GREEN, – it would be.
But the choice was not so clear this morning: outside my window, bright blue sky, sunshine, birdsong, and snowdrops in full bloom had my hand reaching for the fresh Green! of Balmain Vent Vert. But one step outside my door and that cold north wind off the lake said, nope, and my hand instead reached for Yves Rocher Neonatura Cocoon and the warm comfort of its dry cocoa/patchouli Earth! (I know there’s another NSTer here who loves this d/c scent as much as I do but I don’t remember who you are.). But it will be warmer tomorrow with sunshine and the wind will switch to a soft southern breeze, so tomorrow my hand will definitely reach for the ‘green wind’ of Vent Vert.
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend ahead!
I enjoy reading your weather descriptions! Our weather was exactly the same today but it was so nice to see the sunshine.
Felt a tiny bit better this morning so I’m joining team Ostara today.
Whispering I’m hopeful that I may have turned the corner on this cold thingy. Not sure if it was the humidifier, Vicks or oregano oil but I think I may be feeling human, almost. Still have a cough every once in awhile, but not nearly as bad. Might even go sit in the sun and get some fresh air this afternoon.
Happy Friday, all!
Get plenty of fluids and rest, glad to hear that you are feeling better!
Thank you! I’ve consumed nothing but water and teas along with lots of home-made turkey soup. And I’ve mastered the art of sitting on the couch with a blanket pretty well, believe me!
Agree with austenfan’s advice, especially about rest. Get well!
Thank you! I’m surprised how fast the day can go by doing nothing.
Yay for feeling better! Sounds like you are on the right track for recovery.
Thank you, Jalapeno! I’m not very good at being laid up, but surprised at the tenacity of this bug!
Glad you are on the mend!
Hope you continue getting better. My daughter has this bug, and it just keeps hanging on. I’m at the phase where it hasn’t figured out how to attach to me yet.
Glad you’re better — and wearing Ostara!
I’m waiting all day at the hospital for Mom to be discharged…. might wait all night too at this rate. My SOTD anticipates next week’s cp because I’m wearing MFK APOM, a spring favorite.
Glad to hear that your Mom is getting out of the hospital.
That’s good news. Hope you got out of there early.
Hope you don’t have to wait too long, Calypso, such good news about your mum, you must be such a comfort to her.
Way late to the party, will read later, but I’m wearing Goldfield & Banks Southern Bloom.
Is that the one in the gorgeous pink bottle? What do you think of it?
Yes, it’s so pretty! The juice is pink and it has a metallic painted wood cap. Lovely scent, I’m really happy to have it. Spring in a bottle.
I came across it while searching last week. It sounds tempting. That bottle is so awesome, good to know the smell matches.
Not spring like where I am, weather wise. Windy as all get out, though!
SOTD = Guerlain Chamade EdT, from the sample stash. It was a tossup between this and the vintage Diorissimo EdT samples I have. But I’ve worn Diorissimo for this CP before.
You smell great! Can’t miss with either of those choices.?
Thank you! Chant d’Aromes is lovely stuff too.
We got the wind today too. Supposed to be nicer tomorrow. People are already out in their shorts though, lol, not me, still wearing the winter coat.
I pulled out a heavier pair of wool socks today. I have to wonder if the weather forecast for my area was overly optimistic about the expected high temperature for today. ?
Chamade is the heartbeat of spring and Diorissimo is lovely too, I’m waiting to see muguet outside to wear it.
The few lilies of the valley I have growing outside are showing green shoots but no flowers yet. (My gardening climate is a bit too hot for LOTV). But I love muguet fragrances, including of course Diorissimo, even though it’s not quite what it once was.
Started the day in Providence Perfume Company Branch & Vine as an under the radar work perfume. Cleaned up when I got home and opted for Annick Goutal Heure Exquise. Happy weekend!
B&V is a great pick for work!
Late to the party today but participating in Guerlain Chant d’Arômes.
Off to read what everyone else chose for today…
Have yourselves a great Friday, my fragrant peeps!
House twins!
You smell like a wonderfully composed bouquet.
It’s snowing- really, Mother Nature?? I’m wearing Gucci Envy for my spring pick.
Perfect!
Snow!! Belated condolences.
I am in Gallivant Tokyo today. On me, it is light enough to be good in spring and it just make me think of spring like weather. .
Sprayed TF Sahara Noir in the morning. Dovana by Sylvaine Delacourte from a sample postshower. Smells nice- mild and fluffy, will reapply later 🙂
Still smelling great in Sahara Noir!
SOTD has been Houbigant “Fougere Royale”, a freebie sample from Celeste perfumes in The Hague. It is very nice indeed, but not as long-lasting as I would like. I need to re-test Amouage “Bracken Man” and Nobile 1942 “Fougere Nobile” do decide which I want.
I am starting to get refunds after selling the Birmingham house – insurance, council tax, electricity – and have splurged them on perfume – a FB of Tauer and a bunch of decants and samples.
Hurrah, it is the weekend! :^)
Congratulations on getting the Birmingham house sold! Which Tauer scent did you get?
Congratulations! Also wanting to know which one you got.
Le Temps d’Une Fete for me today. It’s cold and windy and blustery, and well….March-y out. Have a great weekend everyone!
Hello, weather twin!
Team Chamade for me on a busy day today. Bright sunshine with a strong north wind that had an icy edge to it…..came home and covered Chamade with Silences, still green but heartier.
Smelling great with both choices!
Love both of those!
Intense so Iris for Cherry blossom viewing in Tokyo. Nice in spring weather.
We also took part in a tea ceremony and i had a traditional japanese name stamp made with my name in katakana and the picture of a cat.
How fun! Sounds like a good trip already.
So happy for you that you’re having a great time. The stamp is such a great purchase, I love anything with cats.
So late to this party! Luxuriated in DK Gold all day long…such a lovely fragrance!!!
I am even later — but yes it is!
Finally, it’s taken about 2 weeks worth of off and on wear, but finally I’ve been able to start smelling something in Panda (2014) other than bamboo and…musk? Maybe musk, maybe something else. Do you know the smell when you open a can of bamboo and it’s funky and almost wet-dog-like but the vegetable version? Ok, so maybe that’s just how bamboo smells all the time and I had to get over it because this is a bamboo bomb, and the musk notes that I’ve seen mentioned elsewhere made it teeter dangerously close to actual wet-dog when I first wore it.
But today I it was like my nose finally figured out what this crazy mash was made of and I’m getting wonderful spicy, damp, green notes. I also tried layering it with a sample of new Panda and the parts that I find most difficult about each frag individually are knocked down to enjoyable levels. No bamboo-dog or ozone headache, just fun green-fruit times ahead.
So maybe not my favorite spring frag, but definitely starting to enjoying it!
I love it when I finally start understanding a challenging perfume. I was so proud when I realized I missed APLS once my sample was gone. I felt like I had graduated ?
I’m just glad it doesn’t smell like almost wet dog anymore! XD
Ostara for me! Happy spring!
Best wishes for spring to you too, Ostara has been a popular choice for the CP, I think, very appropriate.
Yes, I’ve seen a lot of Ostara in the comments. Why on earth did Penhaligon’s discontinue it? And its box is possibly my favorite packaging of all time, with the yellow paper daffodils.
