Hump Day and National Religious Freedom Day or National Nothing Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: partial credit for Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black.
Reminder: on 1/18, wear a fragrance by Eau d'Italie, Etat Libre d'Orange, Escentric Molecules or Etro, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter E.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Elizabeth and James Have A Nice Day bag is from early 2018 (I think) and long since sold out.
ELdO day 3: Putain des Palaces for this particular Putain des Parfums.
š
Like BobH, I’m in ELDO Putain des Palaces, which given its name, is surprisingly work appropriate. It wears pretty close to the skin on me and is a pleasant powdery perfume. Granted I dabbed from one of the 10ml minis they used to sell as a big set. Spraying it could be another story…
Thanks for the support yesterday on my challenging work day. As long as more requests aren’t thrown at me today, I feel like I’ve got a better handle on things today.
Oops this was supposed to be its own comment…
I had a bottle of PdP and thought it quite an innocent smelling perfume. Even sprayed itās not big and still very work appropriate. You smell wonderful and I hope your workday is better today. ?
Thanks, Deva! It’s a much better day already.
Wearing Indochine today, because I just had to.
Gotta do what you gotta do!
I love that one, you smell gorgeous!
Iām happy to see this one is getting a lot of love recently ?
You smell wonderful!
Fils de Dieu for me today.
I would wear that tomorrow if I had any!
Yum! ?
Smelling great!
Double yum!
I am wearing Marni today. My tea this morning is Earl Grey.
I am finishing up my second cup of English Breakfast.
It is definitely “hot tea” weather. I came home and made myself a third cup of tea for today — Mystic Dragon green tea.
You smell really good!
Thanks !
Vierges et Toreros, another quirky number from ELDO.
I can see why it’s marketed as a masculine scent (although, of course, a woman can wear it too). It does not smell much of tuberose to me, at least not of that familiar heady tuberose. What I smell is a spicy rubber/camphor composition which reminds me a little of Body Kouros. It’s a fun scent to test, but I do not think it will stay in wardrobe.
The idea of National Nothing Day is hilarious: “To provide Americans with one National day when they can just sit without celebrating, observing or honoring anything.” Every day can be a nothing day. š
As if Americans (and I am one) donāt sit enough!
I think that was one of the few ELdOs I had to scrub along with Je Suis Un Homme and Antiheros (that was the worst, it just turned into vinegar on my arm). You make it sound rather good. Maybe I should retest it…
I saw some Lalique reed diffusers yesterday, 50% off sale. Might need to go back for one. SOTD is Cuir LancƓme, thank you Koyel. Best wishes to everyone ?
CdL is such a pretty leather, reminds me of vintage leather gloves that someone scented. You smell great š
What a lovely description! Thank you it is a pretty leather!!
CdL is gorgeous! The one scent where Iām tempted to get a BuB.
You smell great!
Gosh CdL is just SO good.
Twins! (I am usually not a twin)
Thrilled youāre enjoying it š
Partial credit today for En Voyage perfumes Captured in Amber. It’s almost replaced Ambre Russe for my favorite amber; might layer in something else later. Enjoy your day everyone!
You smell good! This is probably my favorite from the brand.
I am saving my lone little “E” perfume for Friday so today I’m wearing Suede Osmanthe.
I know what you mean, some of these CPs are hard to come up with something.
In the last drops of a sample of Histoires de Parfumes Noir Patchouli. Such a pretty and easy to wear patchouli scent! Plenty of coffee to stay awake on a cold, cloudy and busy day. Take care everyone!
I’m on my second cup, but there may be a third in my future.
I had the third cup long time ago! I will have my fifth sometime late in the afternoon.
One of my favorite patchoulis! My husband HATES patchouli, so I only wear it when he’s out of town. My sample has lasted for years!
I adore this patchouli, fortunately the hubby loves it so I’m good.
Now if I could just get him to love lavender. He despises it so much I got rid of my vintage bottle of Jicky EDP. š
Noir Patchouli is a good candidate for a full bottle. It is already in my endless shopping list. Really beautiful!
Lovely!
Thank you Austenfan! ?
ā¤ļø
Hope you are feeling much better today. Stay cool in those hot temps. We are expecting snow in the next couple of days, so yoy can send some heat to us!ā¤?
Another easy to wear patchouli is Diptyque Tempo. I think even some patchouli haters might like it if they gave it a try.
Agree that Tempo is very easy to wear. Some people compare it to Coromandel, but I feel that Coromandel is more beautiful, complex, sophisticated.
I remember liking that one. I recall it being on the smoky side? I get aspects of Noir Patchouli in 1740, which I also like (and neglect ?).
I didn’t find it smoky. On me is a creamy patchouli and leather with a medicinal touch. Very nice and pleasant.
Another member of the ELDO club. I’m wearing the fierce and beautiful Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection. Just gorgeous.
One of the best roses around in my opinion. You smell fantastic today.
Ooh, I like that one! You smell terrific.
An all-time favorite.
Twins!
Jealous! That’s one of those scents that should be perfect for me but isn’t.
Fierce and beautiful is a perfect description. It strengthens my spine whenever I wear Rossy!ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Thanks for the welcome yesterday, everyone. Challenging Day at work for me today so am wearing my favorite spine stiffening perfume, Rossy de Palma. The fact that it works with the community project is a happy coincidence.
Had never heard of National Nothing Day before, but I like it.
And you smell fantastic as well…
Hope your day goes well.
Hope your day is okay!!
Hi twin!
Hi twin!
Triplets! Hi!
Spine stiffening perfume is a great thing to have, hope your day goes well ?
I’m sure that helped by Rossy de Palma you’ll rise to the challenge.
Thanks everyone! It all went as smoothly as it could. I work on a horse farm and we had to put one to sleep this morning. It was time- she was incurably, painfully ill, but still very sad.
Oh, my, I’m so sorry to hear about that. It’s just difficult to do that with any animal you know and love. You have my sympathy.
Iām sorry, itās hard to do that, but the final act of kindness we can perform for our animal friends. Hugs.
Oh gosh, so sorry!
That is very sad. Sorry! Sending hugs!
How sad, NovemberRose! At least she isn’t suffering anymore. Hugs to you. And how amazing it sounds to work on a horse farm!
I’m so sorry to hear that, how very sad! At least she isn’t suffering, that’s a blessing.
My hugs to you.
My second favorite ELdO!You smell wonderful!
In a comfortable rut with Herve Domar Emeraude. Tomorrow will probably be Thunk Day on my decant, though.
I love being in a comfortable perfume rut…and that one sounds worth it.
SotD is MAAI
What a wonderful scent!
Are you back from London (sorry if you’ve already said so and I’m way behind)?
Yeah we returned sunday evening. Btw This trip we took the train (Eurostar), and of course lots of Brexit jokes were made. š sorry guys, but without getting political, I think we can all agree its a big mess right?
By train is still a hustle though We had to go through security checks. And of course UK is not a Schengen country, so we had to do pass passport control as well.
But passport checks are all automated and leading to people struggling with machines haha. Not a funny thing to do if you are claustrophobic I guess….you are being held for a few seconds with gates closed both behind AND in front of you.
One of my souvenirs I bought at Minamoto Kitchoan…white peach mocha (small rice cakes coated in peach sugary stuff). I’ll post it on Insta because the packaging is so cute. And its delicious. Not very British though.
But I drank pints in pubs, ahem half pints. Maybe two half pints per evening. And one gin tonic…. Sorry I just cant hold my liquor and therefore cannot handle UK pub culture. ?
Correction: Mochi, not mocha haha
I wondered about that on Insta!
You smell amazing!
Thank you! Its cosy and sexy, right? One of my favourites.
Though I dont think I will ever wear it to work…
But today I wore it while running errands and shopping for a new pair of pants. Most pants I found had a high waistline and were slightly baggy on the hips and bum. I am a short person and it looks weird on me. So I ended up buying a skirt hahaha
SOTD is Black Orchid. I’m alone at work for the next two hours, surely by then it’ll be work appropriate? š
Finally saw If Beale Street Could Talk last night. I haven’t read the novel, but I thought the film was beautiful. It deserves so much more attention than it’s getting, especially compared to some of the…not so great work that’s making the rounds at these award shows. And the protagonist works at a perfume counter, which isn’t a huge part of it, but there is a really affecting scene that takes place there.
I also really enjoyed that film and posted the same thing about the perfume counter scene a couple if weeks ago! That scene was loaded from so many angles: race, gender, class, etc. And I think Black Orchid needs a good 24 hours before it’s work appropriate ? Reek on ??
I have been wanting to see that one, thanks for the mini review.
You smell great!
(Black Orchid works best for me when its very cold, its one of the few scents i dont wear year round)
Likewise! It doesn’t ever get hot enough here to justify neglecting “winter” scents entirely in the summer, but Black Orchid definitely moves to the back of the cabinet.
Where I love it is the reverseāit never gets cold enough to neglect āsummerā scents altogether, but there are many scents I can only wear in the winter.
No such thing to me! I’ll wear summer scents in negative temperatures! haha
Where I “love”, not “love”–I corrected the autofill, and apparently it changed it back again!
There are some scents I simply cannot wear in summer heat, as they smother me.
Today I’m wearing Chanel Deauville and I’m drinking Stash Chai Green Tea as usual.
I love that tea!! That was my evening Downton Abbey viewing tea, lol. During the day I like their Chai Black Tea.
That tea is one of the few greens that I really like.
A tea house in my college town used to have an almond-flavored green tea that I loved. Wish I could find it again!
Omg, that sounds so good!
You smell great.
National Nothing Day has real appeal to me! I endorse this fully and completely….
Sampling DS & Durga Amber Teutonic today…..this stuff is GOOD. This is a gorgeous, rich and spicy amber, pine, fir, and opoponax blend of warm cozy goodness. LOVE IT! Why must it be soooooo expensive? On the perpetual wishlist it goes….. š
LOL, Jada, you crack me up (about the National Nothing Day).
Sotd is Fleur de Peau because Sajini mentioned it yesterday.
Today is my Friday and then I am off next week. Planning on cramming in some mother/daughter time before my girl heads back to college for spring semester.?
You smell like I smelled yesterday?
Enjoy your time off!
I do! And thank you!
You both smell (or smelled) wonderful!
Thanks Petunia!
Glad you get a nice long break before your daughter leaves, enjoy!
Sampling Etro Jacquard today which opened with quite a bit of pepper but now seems to be calming down
I love that name but was not moved to try the scent…I think I might have lost interest in Etro, which is too bad. But never wanted to own any but Shaal Nur.
Was going to participate in the challenge this morning, but my hand just automatically reached for Mohur. It’s so gorgeous to me. I now wished I’d sprayed one or two more sprays!
Going today to get our marriage license for next week! Woo hoo!
Congratulations! And you smell suitably amazing.
Big congrats!! ?
Whee!!
Exciting!
Woohoo indeed, congratulations!
Congratulations KellyC! You smell fantastic!
Wow! Congratulations KellyC!
Ohh, congratulations!!
Have fun on this step of your journey!?
Mazel Tov!
Nice!!Hope your Insta is packed with wedding pics!ā?ā¤ļø
congrats!!
Exciting!!?
Congratulations, KellyC!
Woo hoo! Congrats!
Congratulations, KellyC!
Today Iām wearing Ambre Sultan. I donāt think I have any perfume that starts with E.
Have a great day/evening!
You smell great!
You smell super good!
Haha thanks! Iām off to the library and people donāt ever seem to get offended by AS. I think because it can be misread as amber essential oil or even a nice lotion.
I was working with a massage client in close quarters the other day and realized with horror that I was smelling stale Salome on myself. There must have been some leftover on my shirt. That one is pretty tenacious.
Even stale, SalomƩ is the bomb!
Yes it is!
I had a rough and sad evening yesterday. I went to feed a cat colony I help care for and discovered one of the cats there had died- this right after witnessing someone fall right near there and having to wait a 1/2 hour for EMS to arrive! Pretty disgraceful. She was mostly ok, but did something nasty to her shoulder. Hope she’s ok now.
I cried a bunch about the cat and placed her body in the river near the colony since she liked to hang out on the shore rocks. This feral cat business can be really heartbreaking sometimes ? But we did find 1 of the friendlier cats a permanent home with another cat and are told she’s doing ok- still afraid of the people but likes hanging with their other cat ?
I needed something bright and uplifting so went with a spritz of Eau de Magnolia for a grey, cold day.
So so sad. You have such a kind heart to do so much for those cats. Hugs.
Thanks, KellyC, and you’re a wonderful animal parent!
It’s after these kinds of instances where I think “I’m not sure I can take this anymore!” I get really attached to these guys, even the ones who are not people friendly.
Sometimes the ones who are the most remote are the ones who need the most love. Iām really sorry you lost one of the kitties.
<> to you, dear.
Uh oh. That should be āhugsā to you.
Thanks Nancyleandros! So true.
For some reason, I get the most attached to the difficult and ornery cats. It’s a real gift when and if they do some out of their shell and decide to trust me!
Oh I am so sorry Elisa P!
Iām glad you found a fragrance to lift your spirits.
That is so very sad. You have such a kind heart to do so much for those kitty cats. I think she will love being by the river. ((Hugs))
I am so sorry ElisaP. It is very heartbreaking. But I am glad that one of the other cats found a permanent and loving home. I hope your day today is a better one. Hugs!
That’s wonderful work you are doing but heart breaking too. Sorry you have had some rough days lately.
So sorry about the kitty, that is so hard. Big hugs for you, you have a good heart.
You have a big heart Elisa and you smell beautiful today!
It’s wonderful what you do for these forgotten cats, Elisa and though very sad you did your best for the one who died.
So sorry about your kitty, Elisa P.
It’s always a sad thing when an animal dies!
Sorry you had such an eventful evening!
ā¤ļøā¤ļø
Thanks for all the love and support, everyone ā¤ And the kindness and love that is shared here amongst us on a regular, is always heart-warming (and contagious! Y’all must’ve rubbed off on me ?).
I agree. This is one of the kindest little corners on the internet. So glad I found it.
Hope you are having a better day today ElisaP! That does sound like a rough day.
I’m really sorry, Elisa P
I think it’s wonderful what you do for those kitties. ?
Oh no. That makes me incredibly sad! But thank you for all the work you do for the kitties.
Enjoying the poetically named Love-in-a-Mist from Providence as I pomodoro my way through the day.
Does that work for you, doing pomodoro all day?
It has made me way less likely to slack off on the internet for too long… for the two days I have tried it.
I have been pomodoring for years now and i cant work any other way
Interesting, and thanks for chiming in yasmina!
Long time no see NST. Just put on Escentric Molecules 02 from a sample and wow — I hate it! I forgot this one is basically Ambroxan. BLECH
Ha! Nice to be sure!
I covered it up with Marni and all is good now š
Phew ?
Go Marni š
Totally off project with Amouage Journey Woman. I love this mix of apricot, honey and suede. I sometimes get a whiff of fairly animalic notes in this, and then get anxious about being a little too musky to be in public. But, I tend to apply with a restrained hand, so hopefully I’m not wafting too strongly.
Happy Nothing Day, everybody.
How delicious, I love Journey, yes it is strong like most Amouage.
Wearing Azemour today.
Nice!
YUM.
Let’s try this again but in the right place…
Like BobH, Iām in ELDO Putain des Palaces, which given its name, is surprisingly work appropriate. It wears pretty close to the skin on me and is a pleasant powdery perfume. Granted I dabbed from one of the 10ml minis they used to sell as a big set. Spraying it could be another storyā¦
Thanks for the support yesterday on my challenging work day. As long as more requests arenāt thrown at me today, I feel like Iāve got a better handle on things today.
And you smell just lovely!!ā¤ļø
Thank you! I can barely smell myself at this point in the day though.
SOTD = Mugler Angel Muse
… because lillyjo mentioned it on Monday. My āa few spritzesā go a long way = ~2.5 to 3. For those who do wear Muse, how many spritzes do you use?
It depends, if it’s Hermes Eau Pamplemousse Rose, five spritzes. If it’s Fendi or Angel, one spritz and walk through the mist.
Which perfume do you spray the most for a regular wearing. Mine is 28 La Pausa EDT – 8!
Pretty much the same three I generally do – chest, back of neck, one arm and I tap my arms together. Regular Angel gets dabbed, lighter scents get more sprays on the same places. If I’m home for the day it all changes, lots of sprays of everything. I like to WAFT ?
3 seems to be standard for Angel Muse!
I do 3. Wrist, neck, and back of neck.
If I’m working, I usually reaply at lunch, even though I really don’t need to, I love the opening.
Weāre number of spray twins!
I wear my usual 5-6 spritzes.
Wow!! Itās delicious for sure and the dry down is fabulous!
One for the wrist, one for the neck is my usual for Angel and her children… but more if I’m off work that day and have nobody to bother but the Mr and the dog.
LOL, an opportunistic spritzer!
Keeping up with the theme in Rossy de Palma. I have an absolute hoard of rose samples and decants but not a single fb – I’m going to treat myself to one when I get through some of this backlog and Rossy is a top contender (along with Ta’if and Nahema).
Oh, you smell fabulous! I have a decant of that one from a generous NSTer. ?
You smell great! And those 3 contenders are all so different from each other ?
Today’s SOTD is Christian Dior’s Addict (older bottle). I do love this but one spritz is all it takes, it’s really blooming in today’s humid SF weather!
You smell fabulous. My older bottle is long gone but I bought a current bottle last year and it’s faithful to the original except that it purrs instead of growls.
Thank you! I like the newer version also, Addict 2.0. š
This week is full of training sessions and meetings, so I’m wearing the perfectly office-safe Alyssa Ashley Musk (yesterday’s SOTD too).
I LOVE this one! One of my favorite musks. Have you tried the lotion or shower gel? It’s pretty nice!
Parfums de Nicolai Odalisque, thanks to the INCREDIBLE generosity of NSTer 50_Roses. I smelled this for the first time over a decade ago, when I bought a mixed sample pack of niche samples on ebay. This was right after I discovered MUA and NST, and that sample pack was pure treasure to me and the start of my obsession. It included a few PdNs (Odalisque, Eau d’ete, and some others), Parfumerie Generales, and other stuff you find on Luckyscent. Since I lived in a small town in Florida, I would *never* get to try these in person. I remember sitting on the couch and taking out each sample and carefully showing them to my cousin when she visited, like I was taking out precious jewels.
50_Roses, this MADE MY YEAR. Thank you! I smell amazing.
Wonderful NST! It’s always nice when a freebie makes a great match.
Youāre very welcome! I am glad I was able to send an unloved bottle to someone who will really enjoy it. I feel guilty about the ones I never wear.
Great story! I remember I went to Scent Bar for the 1st time when I was in LA, and being able to sniff things in person that you’d only read about felt like meeting your favorite celebrities, lol.
I love that story! ālike I was taking out precious jewelsā I still kind of feel like that when I get a package of samples in the mail.?
My day was sponsored by a litter “C” today.
Chanel 31 Rue Cambon.
Thunked that sample.
Welcome to the Thunk-club!????
Wearing (and thunking) my sample of Mona di Orio Suede de Suede.
How do you like it? Is it full bottle worthy?
I like it, but the last time I tried it there was something in the drydown that bothered me. Waiting to see if that is the case again today.
No no no purchases this year ?
No risk of a purchase – it completely fizzled out on me after 4 hours. Failed on longevity & sillage.
Still AWOL on this week’s theme in Lalibella. Have a good day NSTRS!
And you Petunia!
There’s a big oak tree in the cemetery and I found myself looking at the acorns that have begun to appear on it. I’ve never paid any attention to the way acorns grow so it was fascinating ( to me) . It seems that the ‘cap’ develops first and once that is established the smooth acorn part takes off. The rosehips are very big and plump now. I tried the new JM Bronze Wood and Leather when I was away at the weekend ( also fleur de peau and tempo). It reminded me of the English Oak and hazlenut perfume but with a rather sour , almost vetiver addition. I wouldn’t describe it as a leather scent…but once again I didn’t get to spray the sample on my skin myself, that was left to the assistant…so maybe I am mistaken. Wearing YS Uzac Immortal Beloved , a rum and plum and passionfruit blend .
The JM Bronze Wood and Leather was quite smoky on me. It was ok, but I think Iād rather smell it on my husband than myself.
The nihilist in me is digging āNational Nothing Day!ā
But Iām wearing something and itās my newest love. One spritz on skin and Iām done in. To think Iāve had this tiny little spritzer in my sample stash for who knows how long and have never experienced it…! I think itās from a kind NSTer, too!
DSH Chinchilla for the win! . If this is discontinued, I may cry.
You are in luck! It is not discontinued. $58 for a 10 ml edp spray.
I KNOW! I just skipped over to her site and saw itās still available! So excited because it beautiful, affordable, and comes in a boatload of sizes! ?
It’s on my eventual buy list. It’s such a lovely scent
Lovely is a great description! Itās very ladylike, but not uptight. Very loose, smooth, and self assured. I hope you get a bottle soon! ?
Does it resemble any other fragrances?
Gosh, Iām probably the wrong person to ask since I donāt analyze anything about perfume. Iām pretty simple; donāt like, like, love. Itās a rounded soft fuzzy floral animal. Thatās the best I can do, sorry. I wouldnāt say itās dirty or funky, and to me perfectly acceptable to wear anywhere. Feminine and comforting. Iām sure others who know more than can offer some ideas as far as comparison to other scents. Anyone have any ideas…?
I sampled it over a year ago, but I think it reminded me of a cross between Kiehl’s Musk and MFK Absolue pour le Soir. Fuzzy, animalic musk? Name suits it, though I’ve never smelled a chinchilla. Yet.
Never smelled a (real) chinchilla either. I have smelled Keihls Musk and APLS, but I donāt get any florals from either of those. I do get beautiful floral notes from Chinchilla, which to me makes it more āladylikeā than either the Keihls or the MFK. But I also donāt find Musc Tonkin or SalomĆ© funky. I think I have a very high tolerance for funk?
Ok thanks you all! ? I have a bottle of Kiehlās musk Iāll spritz. āLadylikeā sounds like itāll work for me. I like Salome also.
Itās much gentler than Salome. (I love both)
Wearing ELDO Bijou Romantique. Used the whole sample! Thunk! A pretty and easily worn/forgotten floral vanilla. I like jammy roses and spicy roses but with the exception of Tocade, I will pass on vanilla centric florals.
I liked it when I tried it, but it didn’t hold my interest long enough to even finish my decant. That happens to me with most vanilla, though. You still smell great!
Thank you! Getting a bit more violet and iris now that we are in the final stages but still not my cup of tea.
Iāve scratched any idea of taking part in the CP. I simply do not have any C house āfumes. I am in Shiseido Feminite du Bois. I love this stuff!
Oh goodness, you smell perfect. I have a little mini of that one, and I treasure it.
But do you have any E houses because that is this weekās challenge!
I’m sorry, I meant “E”. I DO have some Cs. The past week or so at work has been crazy, and my brain is a little fried.
Layered Rouge Bunny Rouge Tenera over the remains of Mechant Loup, so now I smell of rum, raisin and nuts.
Your combination of wolf and bunny sounds intriguing to me. I’m getting a kind of Beatrix Potter mental picture of the animal.
š Yes, it’s a little unsettling, the combination worked perfumewise though.
Never tried the RBR, but you definitely smell great in Mechant Loup.
Thank you Nancy, it’s a good combo, Tenera is a rum/raisin scent I discovered when searching for boozy scents.
Thunking my decant of Over the Musk today. Still one of my favorite perfumes of all time ?
Thank you to whoever sent me sun today?
Congrats on the thunk! ?
Thanks!
Keep going with the “thunking”!
I will. Sad to see this one gone though.
Hooray for sun!??
We are up to 13 percent sunshine this winter!
You smell great!
I totally agree, thanks!
SOTD is ELDO Noel au Balcon. I became infatuated with it from a little sample and bought a big bottle, but then went off it. It’s worth giving it another try. I thought I had found my sought-after orange-clove pomander scent. Nice orange and spices in the start of this, but I’m afraid the honey takes over and it becomes too sweetly fruity. I just don’t care much for strong honey scents (with the exception of Moth, for some reason).
what I’m seeking is a substitute for Specie de Medici, which I adore, but which makes me break out in a bright red rash, alas.
Such a shame…
Orange clove pomander sounds good to me. Noel au Balcon didnāt do it for me either.
I’m in Armani Prive Royal Oud today. I love it, I should wear it often!
Will be wearing my Rien Intense Incense on Friday but I wish I had some Etro in my wardrobe. There are quite a few that I’d love to own from Etro, like Vetiver, Palais Jamais, Shaal Nuur, Gomma, Sandalo…
Their Ambra is pretty nice, too.
That one I haven’t tried.
Not sure if youāre near a brick and mortar store, but the SA in the store here in Houston was very generous with samples. I actually need to start testing them. But maybe you have some already…
I’m in Europe.
Nancy, which store are you talking about?
4444 Westheimer, River Oaks. The Diptyque store in the same shopping center was really nice, also. Both SAās there were delightful.
SOTD is ELDO Fat Electrician. Am i the only one today who wears this? Very suitable for the cold and grey weather we are having here.
Tea is Kusmi ThĆ© vert au menthe de Nana. I don’t like a lot of green teas, but this is nice.
Had a sample, nice creamy vetiver!
It is a beautiful vetiver but had no longevity on my skin.
Iām in Etro Shaal Nur mixed with a little Pacifica Sandalwood.
Hey California peeps!!!
I will be in Berkeley/SF/LA in a couple of weeks to see my daughter, and to sightsee. She works odd hours, so I donāt know what my schedule will be like.
Iāll be in Berkeley/SF from 1/31 – 2/3. Iāll be visiting the Aftelier fragrance museum on Saturday, 2/2, if anyone would like to go with me. My cousin will be going as well.
Iāll be in LA from 2/4 – 2/7. If anyone is interested in meeting up for coffee or a bit of shopping, Iād love to hear from you!
Nlmcook aaat sbcglobal dot net
Also, if anyone has suggestions for great, but reasonable places to eat in Berkeley/San Francisco/LA, Iād be most grateful. Your favorite perfume/shopping/sightseeing suggestions would also be welcome. – – will definitely be going to ScentBar – – ?
In SF I love Mission Chinese. In LA the Museum of Jurassic Technology is a wacky delight.
Oooh, thanks for the suggestions, Regina!
sounds like a great trip – safe travels and enjoy sniffing and dining!
Thanks, flopper!
Oh fun! I hope you enjoy you travels!?
Thank you, Deva!
Be sure to go to Tartine in SF. You can swing by Tigerlily for a sniff fest afterwards too!
Thanks, cazaubon, Iād forgotten about Tigerlily.
Oh, nice trip! Wish I could join you.
I was just reading about a perfumery in LA called Orris Perfumery and looks like it’s not terribly far from Scent Bar. They don’t seem to have a huge selection, but looks like indie-only with focus on natural or mostly natural or something. Anyway, I never heard of any of the brands, so next time I’m in LA…
Thanks, Elisa P, Iāll look into Orris. Actually, Iād be interested in any perfume bodega with āorrisā in the name. ?
Maybe you can meet up with Chris Rusak? Enjoy your trip at the end of the month!
I just made my first perfume purchase of 2019 – Delacourteās Virgile. I went through my sample of this āaromatic vanillaā pretty fast and i am looking forward to more. That stuff puts me to sleep very quickly!
In the meantime SOTD was vanilla flash
I love Vanilla Flash so much. You smell wonderful.
I hope you were able to get it on sale! I just got an email this morning with the code: VIP30D for 30% off. (No affiliation)
Yes i did!
Just a quick Hi and Bye as I am off to bed(22:41pm)!!
Scent of bedtime is Carthusia Via Camerelle.I needed something fresh, citrusy and uplifting! We’re experiencing a superheatwave! It’s like 27C RIGHT.NOW.
Plus my recent ailments lead to my house basically smelling like rubbing alcohol,D-Germ hand disinfectant, and everything else that smells basically just like work,e.g Hospital.I appreciate the smell, but really not at home.
Be well all!
It’s almost Friday.TG.

Hope you feel so much better soon! Hugs!

Be glad youāre not in South Australia, Iām watching the Tour Down Under bicycle race and itās 43! Sounds like you need a citrussy room spray to dispel the hospital smell.
Glad youāre better, johanob. Weāre bracing for the white stuff this weekend, with a preview tomorrow night!
I have a sample of Goldfield & Banks Southern Bloom and decided today was a good day to test. Love it! I’m not sure if it’s the boronia, the green notes or the amber, or maybe it just all comes together well on me. I see it has vetiver, too. For me, that’s always good.
I loved it too, bought it last month. Pretty pink juice too!
Chanel 5 EAU de Cologne for super partial credit. I used up a teeny sample of Cuir de Russie yesterday and fell in love with the “fancy horse” smell so the vintage No. 5 is the closest contender…another lemming birthed I mean foaled.
Happy Wednesday.
Suede de Suede has given up the ghost even after spraying 2 full mls on a few hours ago. Iāve moved on to my Kilian Intoxicated decant. Smells chocolatey!
Running late today! I’ll have to catch up with everyone’s comments later on tonight.
SOTD = Tam Dao EdT. This little sample may get THUNKed soon. Another crazy day, but at least it wasn’t “everything is weird” crazy. Just the “normal” kind of crazy.
Glad to hear your day was not terribly crazy! You smell great!
Chiming in late with Jasmin et Cigarette. Tonight it’s more jasmine, less smoke.
Going through lots of transition at work as part of our company was sold to new owners. We have jobs for at least another year, but all the changes and transition now on top of our usual workload has been really challenging the last few weeks to say the least.
At least this Friday a group of us are getting together with a former co-worker for her birthday! That will be fun!
Hopefully it will get easier as the transition progreses. I hate it when new people want to change everything. Enjoy the birthday get together!
