Happy Almost-Friday and happy Fruitcake Day! It's also the third day of Christmas (that would be French Hens), depending on how you count, and the second day of Kwanzaa, and there are 4 days left until the end of 2018. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Myrrhe Églantine.
Reminder: on 12/28 we're doing Best of 2018...wear one of your favorite fragrance releases of 2018.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Memo Tiger’s Nest, one of my favorite 2018 releases. Delicious spicy amber/incense scent. Too bad it is so pricey. I put it about 3-4 hours ago and still get a lovely dry-down.
Scent twins! I dumped about half a sample vial of this on me this morning, and as you say, am basking in ambery, incensy goodness with occasional whiffs of floral lightness over the whole thing. I love this, and also as you say, wince at the price.
Hi twin!
I love how this scent lingers.
I love this one too! Just got the shipping notice my bottle is on the way from First in Fragrance in Germany. It will be here New Year’s eve! It is cheaper on their website than in the US, plus they had a 15% off coupon code, which made it a bit more reasonable.
Congratulations! I am jealous.
I finished my sample today, and though I won’t get the FB, I’ll probably end up buying a small decant.
Very cool. I haven’t seen their bottle IRL, although they look interesting. Tell us what the bottle is like, when you get it. 🙂
You smell great.
I want a bottle too
PPC Lemon Liada, one of the best blind buys I have ever made. It is bright and cheerful, a perfect antidote for this gloomy, rainy day.
It’s gloomy and rainy here too. I’m hoping it clears later today.?
Nina Ricci, Fleur de Fleurs. A gorgeous aldehydic floral.
I remember FdF. it is gorgeous.
I really adore it. Got this bottle off eBay a few years ago and thought that it had spoiled. I recently made up my mind that it was pointless to keep a spoiled bottle and was about to get rid of it when I thought I might as well spray it in the air a few times and then retest it. It was just the bit in the sprayer that had turned, the rest of the bottle is fine. I still want to try some of the other old Ricci’s like Farouche and Capricci.
Oh yes! Farouche! I forgot about that one!
Whenever I receive an older bottle I always do 5-10 sprays in the air just to clear out the old stuff. It always works 🙂
Wearing a bit from my decant of L’Artisan Iris Pallida. It’s much nicer than I remember. Maybe it’s the scarcity, but now I’m wishing that I had this instead of Jacinthe des Bois.
What do you think is the most similar scent? Maybe Bois d’Iris by VCA?
I don’t recall Iris Pallida having any sweetness. I also regret not buying it.
Yeah, it’s nice! I prefer it to the other rootier irises, like ISM.
I’m in a far-from-recent release, Vol de Nuit extrait, because nothing else would do this morning. Also, I don’t think I even have anything released in 2018, although I suppose I should paw through the heap of untried samples to be sure.
I don’t think i bought anything new this year either. To busy digging for vintage.
I went through a phase where vintage classics were all I was interested in exploring. I have yet to go through a “what’s new in perfume” phase. 😀
Yes, I’ve been crawling my way through the 80’s and 90’s classics since that’s what I tend to find around here. I get exhausted with niche since they’re so pricy. Some deserve the price, don’t get me wrong, but some don’t.
I feel the same way, Coumarin. My latest acquisition is a bottle of Boucheron from the 80s and I’m a little obsessed, it smells great.
I’ve been also lemming vintages, my newest research is for Chloe’.
I do not have anything new this year either, except for a sample of Casablanca, thanks to a generous NSTer. It is extremely beautiful and I am sure one of the best releases of 2018.
Maybe we will be scent twins tomorrow 😉 ???
I am very sure! ?
Diptyque Tempo. There’s is something going on in the opening of this one that I couldn’t put my finger on so I went back to Kevin’s review and it must be the camphorous note. Not liking that so much so I’ll see how the drydown goes…
Probably money saved. I already own a bottle of Fleur de Peau and really like that one.
Money saved is a good thing 😉
It is!
I love camphor on its own, but hate it on my skin. Fleur de Peau is absolutely gorgeous. Nice choice!
Yes, Fleur de Peau was love at first sniff, but I’m glad I tried this one too. Do you have FdP? I’d be happy to send you some…just let me know.
I agree with the opening of Tempo, and maybe also did not give it a fair shot!
Shall go and resniff asap.
Let me know what you think of it!
I really like that camphor note in Tempo! Good thing we all like different perfumes… there’s plenty to go around.
Vintage Jil Sander No. 4 today, spicy and fruity but with a modern edge. The first few times I wore it I thought it was too close to Poison, but today it’s giving me a Byzance-with-fruit vibe. Glad I have it another chance!
I think that’s just a gorgeous scent!
It really is! Very sophisticated.
You smell wonderful! I wore Byzance back in the day, and later Jil Sander No. 4, both monogamously (that was pre-rabbithole for me) so I probably should have noticed the similarity before now, but never did. I remember Byzance as quite a baroque scent, but it’s been a looooong time.
They’re still different but the heart of No. 4 smells like Byzance with preserves. I prefer Byzance but I love having both!
“Byzance with preserves” – PERFECT. 🙂
Love it.You smell just lovely!
And reminded me I really should get my bottle of Byzance out for a wearing ASAP!
Forgive me, Donnatella, for I have sinned. I did break down and skipped over to Andy Tauer’s website and ordered Une Rose Vermielle. It may be a back up but I am almost out. I added a mini and a discovery set to. All to the tune of $152. Yes, I stopped at the bank and paid my cellphone bill before I went perfume shopping. Right now, I am in LADDM.
House twins – I am in Tauer’s Sotto Luna Gardenia
You smell heavenly!
Hey, you paid your cell phone bill, you’re way ahead of me… Enjoy!
I think that’s just an investment into your future! Enjoy it. 🙂
Love your reasoning! ?
Great choice! I love URV and have multiple backups.
If you bought directly from his website, then you’re supporting an artist!
Yes! It is so much better to buy directly on his website, when you buy through a distributor they take the majority of his profit margin.
Tauer’s URV is a gorgeous jammy rose! Very nice pick! ?
Well, what I thought was a light cold on Sunday morning has intensified into what may be the flu. Bleahhhh. ?
I can’t smell anything this morning; my lovely Eros tea is wasted on my non working nose. Ah well, tincture of time will fix it, as my mom used to say.
I hope y’all are have wonderful Thursday!
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon! Sending healing vibes! ?
Thanks, pl67!
Hopefully you are able to rest. Feel better soon!
Thanks lillyjo, I’m definitely chilling out today.
Poor thing, I hope your puppy girl is comforting you.
Yes, Lucy is a good little doggie nurse. ?
I hope you recover quickly.
Thanks, sistine.
Awww, boo to the flu! Hope you feel better soon, Nanyleandros!
Thanks, Elisa P. Lots of water and tea for me today!
Feel better ?
Thanks, cm8!
Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks, ringthing. You smell super great today in Boucheron!
Hope you are feeling better soon!
Thanks, flopper! Hey, I have a vintage mini of Chloe I can send you, if you’re interested. Let me know. ?
I’ll email thank you!?
Oh no! Hope you’re feeling better soon!!
Boo hiss and phooey on the flu! Hope you are back in form ASAP!
So much illness this month! Hope tincture of time works quickly 🙂
Right now Daim Blonde as I endeavor to work on my decants…thunk 2019 is still on…after I take middle one to train station for city trip will return and shower and then….my precioouuuussss….CASABLANCA!!!!!! honestly, for me, the best new release in five years!
When you love, you love hard! I think it’s wonderful ❤????
Oh yes I do!!!
Better than First Cut or Réglisse Noire??
I cannot say better…as they are all so different…I guess I could see them as my seasonal wardrobe….Casablanca for the cooler weather (late fall, winter, early spring), First Cut for the summer and Reglisse Noire for spring and fall…honestly, I love them all!!!!!
So excited you love Casablanca so! You smell marvelous!!
Thank you! I know you like it too 🙂
I guess we all know what fragrance you will be wearing tomorrow.
Ha!
So glad you’re also a fan of St. Clair Scents! What do you think of Daim Blond? I have a bottle of it that I haven’t opened yet, not sure why.
I am really enjoying Daim Blond. But I don’t think I need a full bottle. There is a similarity to Bottega Veneta which I also love (and have a mini bottle of ).
I am a HUGE fan of St. Clair Scents and hope that lots of perfume folks get around to trying these beauties in 2019. Will you be doing a review of Casablanca on your blog?
Good morning Y’all! Back from my Florida beach Christmas….back to the harsh reality of work and the commute today. Oy vey! 🙂
Wearing one of my Christmas gifts….Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Italian Zest! This was on my wishlist, and Santa Mother-in-Law gifted me a large bottle. Definitely an all occasion grab and go scent that smells really fresh and crisp. This will be really great this summer.
Hope everyone had a great holiday season….hard to believe we’re ready for a new year? Bring it on! 🙂
You smell lovely and fresh, and I commiserate with you on returning to work!
Ooh, that perfume sounds lovely. Sorry about the return to reality!
I always eye that one on Zulily. I bet you smell good!
In L’Artisan Fou d’Absinthe. I needed a good perfume “shot” this morning to face the news that I will be transfered to another office starting January 7. I will be there on regular basis for the next 3 to 4 months. Not a joke. I have heard that it is not easy to work there, but they have a couple of projects that are behind and my boss needs me to expedite things and make sure deadlines are met. Uff! I need to breathe deeply. Perhaps, my only complaint is that my commute will be much longer, but anyway it could be worse. I am glad that I have a job and I want to start 2019 with a positive attitude to bring positive vibes. I hope it works! ?
Sending positive thoughts. I’ve learned thst as far as work is concerned, saying very little and then only positive things, is the right way to go. In my personal life I sometimes do the short, intense wallow to get it over with!
Thank you Amyitis! Agree! The more I complain the more tired and irritable I become and that leads to energy waste. I will try my best to stay focused and positive.
Hey it will work! You must be great at what you do, to be the one to go fix things over there. I’m sorry about the longer commute. By time it’s over, it will be spring!?
Thank you for the compliment Lillyjo! ?.
Working fast under pressure is one of the things that I feel my bosses like about me. It is not going to be an easy task at the new place, but I will take your words that “it will work”. And the thought of Spring almost ready to arrive starting in January according to your math, is going to cheer me up! ?????. Hugs! ?
Hey, it just about rivals perfume math?
?
Oh no 🙁 sorry to read this. Best of luck with the longer commute for the next few months!
I just hope we do not have too much snow and many days in a row of temperatures feeling below zero. Fingers crossed!
Not great news, but you have the right attitude. You can at least feel good that your boss feels he can rely on you to get things done, which is a great compliment.
Thank you Cazaubon! It will be challenging because it implies working the weekends in addition to the late hours that I am already working during the weekdays. I think that at the end I MUST reward myself with a perfume purchase! ?
Oh, that’s even tougher than I thought! Definitely deserving of a perfume purchase.
2+ bottles the least! ?
Oof. They must really believe in you to give you that assignment. I hope the period in the new location flies by. You smell great, by the way.
Thank you Sistine! I also hope the time there goes very fast and I can come back to my regular routine by spring time!
What???? OK yes, think positive..just had this conversation with a good friend last night and this morning…sometimes the unexpected ends up being a blessing in disguise…maybe it will turn out to be a good thing in the end.
and I agree, extra work= extra pay = extra perfume if you so desire! (now I am curious as to which two are on the top of your list-LOL!!!)
I hope everything goes fine! I will miss my work and people here, since I will not have to come here at all, unless it is very necessary. Maybe a change of environment is refreshing and a good way to start the new year.
#1 bottle: a back up one of Masque Milano L’Attesa since the one I have is about to finish.
#2: I don’t know yet. If I had to choose today it will be Robert Piguet L’Insomnuit. I still have the empty vial on my desk and gosh! It smells amazing! But that option can always change.
Let’s see what the new year brings.
This could be the re-boot that came unexpectedly! I say 1 bottle for every month you’re in the new work location! Plus another one for your half-birthday.
I hope so! And 1 bottle a month plus one for my half-birthday sounds very tempting and possible. I need to start working on that list very soon!
Keep thunking though to make room for those new bottles 😉
?
What H said….????
Agree with Lillyjo in that it sounds like they have confidence in you. Sounds like a shock, but hopefully you’ll get through it soon enough. I was pulled at a different job to cover another area that was wayyy less convenient, but aside from the commuting hassles, I actually enjoyed the change of scenery and different neighborhoods.
I have a big responsibility since those are critical projects and I appreciate the trust bosses have on me to expedite the whole process. I hope to meet the expectations and finish everything without much trouble.
I will be in Midwood in Brooklyn. Much longer commute and since I will be a couple of stations away from Brighton Beach I want to cheer up and think that I might take a walk by the ocean once in a while. Well, if the temps allow! Hope to enjoy it!
Yikes, from Queens, that’s far on public transportation. And funnily, the year I got pulled, it was to the Brooklyn team whose office is in Midwood, so I spent a lot of time there and around other neighborhoods (including Brighton!) in a car they rented for me. The hugely stressful part was the driving for me ( in winter) and spending a LOT of time looking for parking ? But I did take a few opportunities to walk the boardwalk by the ocean! I hope you’ll be able to sneak in a few walks and eat some good Russian food ?
Wow! What a funny coincidence!
Parking there is a nightmare. Everytime we go to Midwood we prefer to take the train and leave the car in the office, especially if we know we have to face the rush hour. I am sure I will enjoy time in Brighton. This year I didn’t have the opportuniyy to go there in Summer time, so I am looking forward to some nice walks and good food. A positive thing about the relocation!
Sending you positive vibes for the new challenge in 2019!They must highly value your skills-set M,so you should be proud of getting to be THE FIXER!Hehe!
I have full confidence you can do it…and smell spectacular while kicking some butt!
❤️❤️?
Thank you Johanob! I will smell terrific for sure and the day I need to kick butts I will doused myself in Secretions Magnifique! ?.
Sending hugs! ❤??
?????
Although it might smell deliciously creamy and of the sea like it does on me ?
?
I hope starting 2019 with a positive attitude will bring positive vibes for you too! When one door shuts, another door opens, right pl67??
No doubts about it! ?
Like others, I think this shows management has faith in your powers of efficiency and, maybe just as important, your powers of diplomacy. I suspect you have great people skills, M!
Also, and I may be way off base here, but is it feasible to negotiate something out of this new challenge? A shift in your start time, so the commute isn’t so bad? A few extra personal days do later in the year, perhaps?
Thank you Nancyleandtos! There is the possibility of few extra personal days that I will enjoy greatly sometime next year. So glad about it!?
Congratulations! I hope everything works out for you!
Thank you!
Hope the change isn’t bad and it al works out! Hugs!
Thank you KellyC! Hugs back! ?
Kudos to you for being good enough that the higher-ups trust you to bring order out of chaos! Fingers crossed that you successfully wrangle everything. ? And oh yeah, you will totally deserve some new bottles for getting through it all!
Thank you Jalapeno! Hope that at the end the results are very positive and and we can have everything ready on time.
The thought of new perfume bottles make me want to start working right away! ?
Best of luck to you — that’s definitely a challenge. Sounds as if you are valued, though, which is the good news. Does the other office put you any closer to any great perfume stores, perhaps, for a little retail therapy?
Thank you! The new office is not close to any perfume store, so I will have to carry extra samples in case I need some perfumed therapy, which I feel is going to happen very often.
I hope they make it worth your while and compensate you accordingly. Obviously you are a great asset to the company and can get the job done!
I like hajusurri’s perfume equation, works in my head just perfectly!
Extra personal days will be added to my bank for sure! Hajusuuri’s equation could not be better! ?
Today I put on some Robert Piguet Calypso. I had forgotten how nice this one is.
Very nice !!
You smell lovely!
Lovely!
No fragrance the past couple of days. I am running a hotel (feels like!) and constantly cooking, cleaning and listening to general complaints. Feeling like Mr Fawlty, except I’m Manuel saying “I know NOTHING!”
I know and hate that feeling. My sympathies, and I hope everyone goes out to a museum or a really long movie for the rest of the day!!!
Hosting is so exhausting! Hope you’re back to enjoying fragrance soon!
L’Artisan Au Bord de L’eau is my SOTD. I thought this came out in 2018, but I was mistaken — it was a 2017 release. I bought it in June 2018, so I am within the theme a tiny bit 🙂
From what I can tell, you smell very nice, Barqs!
I tried Au bord de l’ eau only from a sample and wonder if it may be different when sprayed?
Well, I think I know what I’ll wear tomorrow! But for today, I’m in Roaring Radcliffe from Penhaligon’s. Nice enough but I never need a bottle. It’s a good vanilla, but there are plenty of other (cheaper) ones.
Not that I can smell myself much over the scents of whatever daily feast my mother is cooking. “We always eat so terribly when you come home,” she says accusatorily every time I come home, no matter how much I insist that there is no need for that.
Currently incredibly pissed off at American healthcare. I submitted an HSA receipt and it was denied with no cause, because our healthcare is run by stupid monkeys. Not the smart ones. The stupid ones. The number of HOURS of my life I have wasted on *#%#? healthcare over the past 1.5 years! AHHHH it makes me want to scream. The only way to avoid this *#$*#%& nonsense is to just not get sick. Or to be so wealthy that you don’t care. From all my bleeped out curse words, I think you can see how much this upsets me. And I’m one of the lucky ones! I have insurance through my job! And financial reserves to cover anything the insurance company is too much of a POS to cover!
Ok, thanks for letting me rant.
Ditto on the rant. I had an HSA thing denied a few years back so basically just lost the money.
Oh no 🙁 Your appeal was denied too?? Ughhhh I will be SO PISSED if my appeal is denied. AHHHHH. I’m sorry that happened to you.
It was partly my fault, but it was silly – I don’t remember the details. I do think many people lose huge amounts of money on HSAs each year.
I am so grateful not to have to deal with that in Canada. My mother asks why I don’t move back to the US permanently. This is why.
Ugh, I’m glad you don’t have to deal with it!
*wafts comforting clouds of perfume your way*
UGH! American Healthcare and stupid monkeys! So sorry!
Aww thanks <3
My tale of similar woe involved the incompetent customer service at a large bank. Who sat on something I had a local branch fax over last week based on the instructions they gave me. Some items were missing apparently, and I only found out because I called to check status yesterday. This has been my experience with this bank on multiple different occasions and with different departments.
That sounds terrible! Can you change banks? I’m in an FCU and hope that means I won’t have to deal with as much financial instrument nonsense.
This is leftover stuff from my parents’ finances that I’m closing down. That particular relationship will end as soon as I can end it.
Tale of woes (a co-worker’s):
– Ear wax removal for 2 people, no special circumstances – total bill = $1,000 out-of-pocket. I gave her info on the higher ups but whomever took her case just spouted “policy”
– son’s Emergency appendectomy – DENIED. Reason? It could have been done at the doctor’s office – REALLY? An appendectomy? How would the person who denied the claim like it if s/he was given a root canal with no pain killer because s/he is such a sadist that s/he must be able to take the pain? idjit monkeys!
WOW! That’s crazy! Wow, sounds like I’m in good company. This is outrageous! I can’t imagine how this would flatten a family who doesn’t have the resources to cover such ridiculous errors!
Wait…Appendectomy in a doctor’s office??Like seriously W.T.F….
Really, an appendectomy is now an outpatient procedure? Who knew? I think she better sue her insurance company.
That appendectomy denial sounds like a load of ???! I’d be furious and lawyering up!
Wow on appendectomy denial. Just wow.
It’s a good place to rant,over here!
The state of Healthcare is SCARY,like everywhere it seems.I mean,I have health insurance, and am in Nursing myself, and even I don’t wish to be a patient at ANY private hospital over here(except the one where I work of course),much less a State-run facility.
It’s sad to see and hear.
Yeah, I hesitated for a moment before posting my rant to think about whether I thought anything would be offensive to the wonderful medical professionals I interact with here on NST, but then I remembered all of Deva’s rants and figured that you all would be at least as eager to stand up for these issues as the rest of us, if not even more.
Absolutely spot-on Koyel.Us in the Medical environment are the ones who probably get the most frustrated and upset when we see, hear and experience injustice in our world. It’s all become just another cash-cow,with ridiculous regulations and new policies, and stupid people having to authorize critical healthcare decisions.Sometimes I feel I could go shake them in their chairs. But we still pitch up for work and do our bit as far as possible.
No, I also am more involved in the insurance end of things at my current job, so know what a frightfully messed up system we have I don’t entirely blame insurance companies, though. There is a lot of wasteful/unnecessary or even errant stuff that happens at hospitals and MDs offices and they bill for all of it. I had to have an expensive lab test done because they accidentally read someone else’s results and falsely thought they were mine (and it was out of whack) and they billed the insurance for a test I didn’t actually need.
You have a point that 100 % of the blame doesn’t lie with insurance companies. The issue is the entire system. Insurance companies are private businesses that are all about maximizing profits. It’s a lot like problems with the oppression of women in patriarchal societies: the problem is not just men; it’s the whole system.
I also recently got billed for a medical device that wasn’t mine! I contacted the medical device people and they said that they had received a form that I had signed. I asked them to send me the form and discovered it wasn’t my signature! It was some other person’s device with their signature, with my info stamped at the top! That issue I think is getting taken care of (and thankfully, unlike your case, hasn’t led to further unnecessary tests), but it’s still so frustrating.
One time, in the mail, I got someone’s lab bill. My address, different name. Sent it back with “no one with that name at this address” I wrote on the envelope. Was mailed the same thing several weeks later. I guess it was eventually sorted, but would think that would be a big HIPAA violation on the part of the lab.
Yikes!
Yeesh! I agree!
Ugh! I don’t blame you for ranting about all that!
Thanks, Jalapeno <3 Hey, how are you doing today?
Today was better, thanks! It’s going to be a one day at a time situation for a while. Some will be all right, others will suck.
Hoping for more all right days than sucky days <3
I am about to shower using my Molten Brown Muddled Plum shower gel and then slather on the same scent body lotion, which my husband got me for Christmas. He was so funny, I was pretty sure he’d gotten it for me, because I saw a small travel-size MB thing fall out of a coat pocket. But he forgot about it, until he opened a small MB shower gel I’d gotten him. He ran back into the bathroom and presented it to me unwrapped.
Aww, cute 🙂 I’ve been wanting to try the Muddled Plum!
I ended up buying the Muddled Plum shower gel and I like it a lot! It is on frequent rotation!
I really like the scent. I went in their website…looks like it sold out, except for the scented glitter…
I’m in l’ambre De Merveilles which I received from Santa this week. Anxiously awaiting a bottle of Costume National Homme I got for a song on a greymarket site and I used an amazon gift card to buy a bottle of hdp Tubereuse 3 animale that I found for a ridiculously low price with prime shipping. Honestly I think the price was a mistake lol!
I read that as deliciously low price…I must be hungry!
Wearing Cuir Beluga as I bake two batches of dinner rolls for our belated holiday supper over at my SIL’s house today. Honestly I am so over the holidays already and don’t want to go, but I have to. So I will go drenched in Cuir Beluga.
Hey, saw you wore the MM, Korres combo yesterday.. glad it was enjoyable. Happy belated birthday to your husband. Hope you have a nice time at your Sil?
Thank you lillyjo!
At least you smell wonderful. I hope the event goes by quickly.
DH and I have already agreed on an early departure. 🙂
I know that feeling! I’ve still got a full week of the holidays left.
At least you smell amazing!
I hope the day goes fast for you. I have one more family gathering for New Year’s Eve and honestly I would prefer to stay home, have a glass of wine all by myself and sleep early, but like you, I have to go. We will survive!
You smell fabulous. It is a contender for Eau de Plane Travel…this or TF Lost Cherry to be on theme. Decisions, decisions!
I hope your escape plan works flawlessly. And belated happy birthday to your hubby!
Thank you!
Belated birthday wishes to Mr. Cazaubon! ?? Any more holiday gatherings, or will this one be the last?
Thanks! This our last gathering, and we made it out by 5pm, pretexting a hungry dog that needed to be fed. Yay!
I ended up layering Cuir Beluga and TF Lost Cherry!
lol, love the idea of resistance through fragrance! I hope it went well!
We have our last family celebration on Saturday, and it will be fun but I am frazzled already! I am already trying to talk my husband into staying home for New Years.
I vote for stay home!!! I have not been “out” for new year’s eve in about 24 years and don’t feel as though I am missing a thing!
I always vote for stay home, and I do sometimes win 🙂
Hello all!
1) Christmas was awesome! It was a Dew Drop Inn situation, and we have a lovely glazed ham, snacks, boozy icy eggnog slush, homemade cookies and Christmas cake, and maybe, just maybe, a little too much Champagne.
2) I received and am wearing Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere.
3) If you are near a Lush, and can stand shopping, go hit up BOGO sale!
I don’t know why Dew Drop Inn is, but your description is making me want to look it up!
It’s a pun! DO DROP IN !
I’m not the cleverest, Ede. *hides*
Don’t worry, Koyel, I had the same question. ?
Aahhhhh BOGO at Lush! Yes! And your Christmas sounds great!
*Almost* worth going to the mall, LOL…but I don’t think I can face it.
I’m “repurposing” the shirt I wore yesterday that still smells of Musc Tonkin, so that’s my SOTD.
The sun is out! A reason for celebration independent of any other reason?
Dang right Deva?, oh… and T-Rex can use the name Tal ?
Ok, I will find the perfect location over the next day or two, so keep you eyes peeled!
??
Sounds like life is good in Oregon!
Like Koyel, I’m getting ready to make a phone call over stupid monkey healthcare, although in my case, they are more like the flying monkeys from Wizard of Oz. I’ve sprayed 3 perfumes today trying to get it right. I finally sprayed Oud Bouquet to stop myself from doing that, lol. I think I’m just nervous about the call. We have rain for the next 2 days, then back to snow. December was kind to me in the precipitation department.
Good luck with the phone call. And my fingers are crossed for you to have a mild January.
Thank you!
Good luck with your stupid flying monkey call!
Good luck! Fingers crossed for you! ?
Bleck on having to make a “stupid flying monkey call”! I hope it went well for you. ?
I think a new phrase has been coined! Lol
Methinks there is no coincidence that ‘stupid monkey healthcare’ and ‘shake my head’ have the same initials.
I’ve been lurking here for a long time without commenting. Hi, everyone!
I was woken up by an earthquake this morning…went with L’Artisan Mure et Musc Extreme. It’s confident but not too much for work.
Hello! And you smell lovely!
?
Hi! Wow, that’s quite a way to wake up. You smell gorgeous!
We had a huge one about a month ago here (Alaska), the aftershocks have just been part of life since lol. Just wish it didn’t have to shake me awake 30 minutes before my alarm! Long enough not to get out of hed but not long enough to get more good sleep. Sigh!
Howdy Hi!
Howdy 🙂
Hello Dorsey!
Thanks for the welcome, Aurora!
Welcome to NST!
?
Welcome!
Thanks, LizzieB!
Hi Dorsey! Welcome!
?
Woo hoo for de-lurking. Alaska! Lovely!
About time! Thanks 🙂
Hi and welcome! Sorry for the rude wakeup- as a former southern Californian, I know that feeling well…
Thank you, Elisa!
Welcome to NST, Dorsey! I like your avatar 🙂
thanks! May Diana give us strength, haha
Alaska!Wow!A warm HALLO then from me as well!(South Africa!??✌??)
Hi johanob! It’s much colder here, but I like wintery scents better anyway. Thanks for the welcome 🙂
Hi Dorsey!
Hiya Dorsey! I lurked for quite a while before I started commenting, too.
Hello there and welcome!
Hi Dorsey, welcome! We’re glad you’re here. ?
Hi! Wow, an earthquake, what a way to wake up — but you smell great!
SotD = Myrrh Eglantine + laddm
I wore a big dose of laddm last night and it’s still going strong. ME’s roses are lovely on top. Thank to Robin for the inspiration! ? Beautiful photo up top today.
Waft on, NSTers! You smell like heaven. 🙂
That sounds like a nice combo!
Sounds like a very nice combo!
One of these days I will sniff Myrrh Eglantine! Just have to grit my teeth and get to one of the malls around here that has it. Alas, they also have a terrible parking situation…
Feeling comfortable in Chanel Paris – Venise today, a perfume which will make it to my list of favorite 2018 fragrances.
That’s a gorgeous fragrance; I have a sample from a department store, and it’s just beautiful. You smell great!
Sad to see David Austin has died recently. I have become more interested in roses since spending more time walking around the cemetery. The smell in the early morning as the dew begins to evaporate is really intoxicating. I will go to the gardens today and see if I can find the Grace rose featured. It should be in bloom. Keeping on the 2018 theme with snowdrop and white moss again with a dash of prada mimosa.
On my daily dog walk, there is a neighbour with multiple Double Delight and pretty yellow highly scented roses. I always stop for a deep sniff as we walk by.
I noticed David Austin’s obit on the website for the NY Times.
Yes, I’m sad about David Austin’s death too, although what a wonderful and long life he lived, with such beautiful contributions to the world. I grow several of his English Roses and they are just gorgeous. And yes, they smell great!
A short day at work, very quiet, I am in Coco Noir, which has grown on me although it’s lacking some edge.
I agree about it lacking edge, but it is still quite enjoyable. The extrait is lovely but I can’t bring myself to spend the money.
Yes, I heard the extrait is great, but I feel as you do.
Once I stopped trying to make it smell Noir, I was able to enjoy it. For me, it’s a good grab n go scent. Especially in the spring and summer.
Yes, I totally agree Lillyjo, and now I want to try it in summer.
Needed a break from the heavy winter perfumes and went with Au Dela Narcisse today, which has some balsamic heft in the base, but is sunshiney bright as well. Matches the clear, cold day nicely. Back to work and dragging a bit. We got home pretty late last night and the drive was longer than going, but happy to sleep in my own bed with TOTAL thermostat control in my apt!!! My BILs house is always freezing and I literally had to sleep in my coat!
Yikes! When I was looking into getting an electric blanket, discovered they also make electric throw blankets…maybe something to consider bringing next year. Au Dela Narcisse sounds like a good wintertime antidote.
Good idea. Your brother’s house must be freezing!
Ooooh. I need one of those for the hubster as he is very cold natured.
Ah! Very good idea! Thanks galbanumgal!
I love my heated mattress pad cover. But the electric throw would be perfect for traveling.
Glad to hear that you are safely back home, and out of the chill chest! ☃❄?
Thanks Jalapeno! And good to be back to kitty snuggles, though their dogs were a good sub ?
Glad you’re back in the warmth! What do you think of Au Dela Narcisse? It sounds so alluring …
I really like it. Modern retro. Now and again I get a whiff and think Chanel no 5 but without all the aldehydes. I like the opening half more than the drydown, though.
First workday after christmas, so decided on Bottega Veneta. Had a shorter workday, so home early to a homecooked dinner from me boyfriend. SOTE is un bois vanille, from a decant.
As i fell down the perfumes rabbithole just this year i have no releases of 2018, so no CP for me.
I fell quite a whike ago and don’t have much either. With so many releases it’s virtually impossible to keep up.
Welcome to the rabbit-hole! Do any of the 2018 releases seem to be calling your name? Un Bois Vanille sounds beautiful.
Bois Vanille is a really heavy vanilla with smoke and liquorice. Nice in the cold.
Looked up the 2018 releases and managed to find a sample for tomorrow! Gladly i dont have to wear Mon Guerlain….
I’m wearing Philosykos today. It’s been perfect for a lazy day of dog walks, lunch with my husband and laundry.
This sounds like a really nice day!
Christmas done and dusted! It was a really great day, sunshine, swimming,Burger King and Creme Bruleè for dessert. No call-outs to work so yay for that!
SOTD in the mother-of-all-heatwaves we currently have,VC&A Bois d’Iris. It always makes my list of Top Iris perfumes!
The one thing I smelled this year-not sure if it is totally new,but it’s new to my nose-is Molton Brown’s Rose Absolue Showergel.Wowza.It’s what Rose Jam showergel should have been, meaning I LOOOOOOOVED Rose Jam,but got strangely tired of the overtly sweetness of it.The Molton Brown I can see myself using much much more of.Lovely stuff,do try it!
Hope everyone is keeping warm up North!
Some days I wish I was living in a Nudist sanctuary…this heat is getting to me like seriously.
We’ll never be happy weatherwise,huh!?Lol.
Much Love!!
❤️✌??
Hey there! I hope that you get a break from what sounds like a monster of a heat wave.
Glad you didn’t get called in to work! Hopefully you can go for a swim to cool off.
Received a lovely package from DSH perfumes yesterday and trying Uptown Moonshine today. Really good.
Do tell! What do you like about it?
I’m wearing Robert Piguet Baghari, from 2006. I’m continuing on with my quest to at least try all of my untouched samples once.
Good for you! I will never manage.
The imp of the peverse helped me choose today. Given that I was in pottering about mode at home all day–sorting papers, reading–clearly I had to wear the sort of scent that is always reviewed in the opulence and grand galas category. MAAI, however, smells just as good in pyjamas and a hoody as it does in a posh frock. If not better.
No mischief was committed. Except by the cats. But that’s their job.
I am hoping to have that day tomorrow!
Robin, thanks for the pretty rose picture today! That lifted my spirits a bit.
Thanks again to everyone for the virtual hugs yesterday. I’m tearing up a little bit thinking about that wonderful, compassionate response.
SOTD = Coromandel EdT again. When something is right, just go with it.
You smell wonderful! I’ve been out of the loop for a few days but adding my hugs as well.
Thanks Petunia! Last week was something I don’t want to experience again for a long time.
Smelling awesome, jalapeno!
Thank you lillyjo! ?
You smell exquisite. Sending hugs and comfort to you.
Thank you flopper! Today was a better day.
I didn’t get a chance to read the comments yesterday, so just went back to read. Sending you a big virtual hug, Jalapeno! That’s a lot of loss in a short space of time and hard to process all at once. Wishing you much comfort.
Wear what brings you comfort…you have enough to think about already.
Big hugs and you smelled great!
I’m wearing Sylvaine Delacourte Virgile for the CP, a very good herbal, aromatic vanilla. Their vanilla collection is very well done. I don’t have a lot of vanilla perfumes, and I ended up buying a travel set of two and got another free during a promo sale. So I own Virgile, Valkyrie, and Vangelis.
My work holiday dinner is tonight. It’s just with the coworkers in my department, so it should be fine but I kinda wish I was just going home. Then my boyfriend and I are going to my aunt and uncle’s on Saturday for Christmas dinner. Like some mentioned above, I’m pretty ready for the holiday get togethers to be over! I am, however, really looking forward to another day off for New Year’s next week.
Nice shopping haul on the Sylvaine Delacourte vanillas!
All of the holiday gatherings can really be exhausting. Hang in there!
I got her vanilla scents sampler and liked Virgile very much. Good luck wrapping up holiday gatherings!
Wow you did good on the travel sets! I got the sampler of both the vanilla and musc…they are all well done and I pretty much enjoyed them all…passed on the sampler to my girlfriend who , thanks to me, has been bitten by the perfume bug, and she is enjoying them now.
SOTD was Lalibela by Memo. It’s so pretty! I haven’t tried many by this house but maybe I should.
What is Lalibela like?
It’s an extremely pretty powdery floral. No leather in this one.
Thanks Petunia! It sounds like it would be most welcome in the cold depths of winter as an antidote.
I haven’t tried that one but recently got to sniff a lot of the Memo line and liked a lot of them!
I haven’t tried many by this house but I really like Lalibela. My bestie gifted me with a travel spray. I may buy a second travel spray in a month or two.
My deepest sympathy to everyone dealing with US health, dental and/or eye care. I’m in the middle of a mess too, it’s such a pain.
In happier news, I smell great. Started out the day with Zoologist Hyrax, at the end of the day I bombed it with Boucheron. Delicious! Enjoy your evening, everyone 🙂
You do, indeed, smell great!
Sorry to hear that you are dealing with a mess right now.
Wow, you do smell great! Good luck with the mess.
started out with Memo African leather, thank you Koyel. Then sprayed Beautiful vintage, top notes are off but it smells nice later. Then some EL tuberose gardenia, then Creeed aventus. Not so sure about the fuss is with this particular Creed, but I do love so many other Creeds. Hope everyone’s day is well.
Speaking of, does anyone have any experience with Creed Oils? I have the Spring Flower oil I bought this summer at a department store. I wanted to wear it the other day, and it smelled rancid. I’m not a happy camper. It’s been stored in the box in my closet, so idk what happened. Oh well…
You smell great. I recently got to sniff some of the Memo line and really liked several of the leathers.
You smell wonderful 🙂
Sorry about the oil! Could you take it back to the department store? I assume it wasn’t rancid this summer, but it might be worth a shot if it’s expensive enough (and since it’s Creed, I assume it is).
Definitely take it back and complain, that is not normal.
Haven’t put on anything yet. Been lounging around the house doing some work but mainly just puppy snuggles and training (ha yeah right!). I’m about to actually bathe though lol so I’m thinking maybe some Genre or Cuir Ottoman after that. Haven’t decided!
We are under a blizzard warning. That’s right, folks, a blizzard warning. First of my life lol. And of course is supposed to hit when I am scheduled to fly out to Alabama tomorrow to see my son. 🙁 Keeing my fingers crossed flights don’t get cancelled but if they do oh well. Such is life.
Stay safe KellyC!
I hope that your flight isn’t canceled KellyC, but if it is, hunker down and stay safe!
Uh oh, stay safe and hope your flight works out!
Good luck! I hope you are able to get there without any problems. Stay safe!
Wow, hope you make it out safely!
There have been precious few purchases this year of new releases for me. But I am wearing Lush’s I’m Home, a sweet delight (cocoa, vanilla, etc.).
You smell FABULOUS! I got a sniff of that at my last LUSH trip and fell completely in love with it. And I don’t even have any chocolates in my collection, so it would fill an important niche!
Quick one before the plane departs — my niece had her baby today! Wahoo! Will post here and on Instagram once in Lisbon!
Congratulations!
Woohoo, congrats!!
Huzzah and congratulations!
Congratulations! Be safe!
Congratulations Aunty!
Congrats and bon voyage!
Yay!
Congratulations!
Cartier Carat here! A Christmas gift. Love it!
Oh, I am so curious to smell this. What do you love about it?
Oh, nice to see it mentioned and nice gift! I sniffed it when it 1st came out and thought it was pretty and easy to wear.
The Lemon Liada wore off after a few hours (no surprise), so after work I tested out a few fragrances about which I am still undecided (keep or swap/give away?). Now, post shower, I am in Aftelier Ancient Resins body oil. I don’t think you can ever go wrong with this one.
Nope, you can’t — makes me feel better every time.
Wearing DSH Slinky Carnation again. Can’t wait to go home tomorrow– my in-laws are pretty much in a rural nowhere small town. My husband and I got dropped off and went in every little store in one block of downtown. So used to being in an area with public transportation and ubers to go do what we want….
I feel ya. My beloved in-laws lived for years in a rural village — very pretty, but nothing there. Truly, there was one tiny store attached to the equally tiny post office. What saved me was that there were two larger, touristy towns within a reasonable driving distance, with lots of cute shops and cafes. I got to know ALL of them intimately!
I was almost too tired to put on perfume after work. It’s almost the feeling of a bad hangover, but i didn’t have the fun the night before. I sprayed on some Chergui tonight.
This vacation/work/vacation business is tiring! At least I have only 1 more day. I will be the only one from my group on in the afternoon as my supervisor leaves at 11:00; most others are off already. But I can’t slack off because its our year-end as well!
Hang in there Gail!
Thanks Jalapeno! I think I’m maybe paying for my month-long vacation now.. lol
Hope it goes by fast tomorrow. I find the week between Christmas and New years very tiring, and I don’t even do anything fun! It’s just the hurrying up to finish with the old and get to the new.
Thanks lillyjo! At least I have the weekend off. Plan on sleeping and pretty much being a slug!
Next week it’s back to my 9 hour days of staring at spreadsheets.
You can do it! One more day!
Thank you! I’m very much looking forward to going nowhere and not packing a suitcase.
Too bad about the year end – I was so glad ours was in September. Hang in there!
I forgot to put any on! (too much apple ale) *eyes Musc Ravageur sample, which was recommended to me–time to slather it on?*
