Hump Day, plus World Television Day and René Magritte's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm keeping cozy in Dries Van Noten par Frédéric Malle.
Reminder: on 11/23, pick your Black Friday poison: wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it's too expensive.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: you can find the Magritte plates at MoMA, $8 each.
I am in John Galliano EdP. I bought a back-up decant a month ago, so while it is not the last fragrance I bought, it is still a fairly recent purchase.
Might as well stock up before it all disappears!
Howdy Hi everyone! Day off today, woo hoo! Lot’s of errands today, even going to try and get a mammogram done, since I totally forgot last month. Sotd is original Alien, from a sample. I’m trying to convince myself to get the rainbow bottle, since Mugler is having 25 percent off site wide, no affiliation. Idk… I might just go back to tj maxx and get the lotion I saw there yesterday. The sun is out, temporarily. We’ve only had 9 percent sunshine this month. Going to have to soak it up. Have a great day, ?☉✌
Enjoy your days off Lillyjo!
It is very difficult to say NO to that beautiful rainbow bottle and the discount…. ?
9% sunshine, that’s depressing!
Good luck with the mammogram.
We’ve had about the same..9 percent sunshine…it’s been lots of rain and then way too early snow…yuck!! (and yes, I am upstate to answer your question from yesterday or rather early this morning-LOL!)
Agree, that 9% is sad ? Hope you enjoy your day off and I wholly support a treat for yourself ?
Enjoy your day off, and sun! It is overcast and now snowing here!?
We are expecting rain changing to snow after Friday. Ugh and yuk!
Stuck in the same gloomy doom here. I had to fly out of state to see the sun earlier this month! Pathetic, isn’t it?
Miel de Bois today, on a cloud of sticky honey. I see why people have a hard time with it but I absolutely adore it, start to finish. I was looking for something holiday-y but not spicy.
I like it too and sometimes crave it. But I have to be in the mood to wear it!
Me too, but my mood is: “This is pretty reformulation, and it was expensive, so don’t use it everyday!”
Pre-
I adore it too!
It’s really ambrosial.
Yum.
?Old Serge!?
Wearing Bois d’Armenie from one of the official travel bottles from Paris. I would absolutely love to own a FB, but the price is shocking !!!
Yes it is!
And Petits Papiers is even worse. (I think. I know I won’t pay for either one.)
I confessed to Donatella about my Petits Papiers indulgence 🙂
And she forgave you! She thinks I’m an idiot not to buy it.
Happy day before Thanksgiving! I’m in YR Voile d’Ambre, and am thankful for the kind NSTer who sent me an array of amber fragrances to try. ?
I have carrot soufflé, snickerdoodle bread and pickled cukes to make today (fun!) and house cleaning (unfun!), so I’d best get after it. Chaaaaarrrge!!
Carrot soufflé! That sounds MAGICAL
It’ll be the first time trying this recipe. I know, not a good idea for a holiday meal, but Homesick Texan has never let me down!
Oh I wanna come to YOUR Thanksgiving meal!!
I’d love to sit down at the table with you, holyneroli! Dinner is at 2pm sharp. ?
I’ll be there in spirit ☺️
Yum yum yum!
Did you say snickerdoodle bread?!?
Yes ma’am, with a crunchy cinnamon sugar crust. ?
I’d like to hear how that carrot souffle turned out. ???
I really missed NST yesterday! So glad it is back!
Thank you all for your beautiful birthday wishes on Monday. They meant a lot to me! My youngest sister and her husband showed up in the evening and surprised me with a cake, wine and food. We shared a couple of hours together and it was very uplifting!
I am wearing Lalique Noir Premier Elegance Animale (thanks a lot Flopper! ). Rose, Saffron, leather, peach. Perfect for the holidays! I am becoming obsessed with it. It is beautiful, warm, cozy and brings a smile to my face every time I wear it.
Ready to face brutal temperatures for the next 3 days, but I am thankful to have a warm and cozy home to relax and feel good!
Stay warm and safe everyone, especially if you are traveling.
You smell gorgeous!!!!!!
Thank you! 🙂
19 degrees tonight!?!? Ugh. Glad you had a nice birthday celebration!
I hope your pup is ok, too.
And it is going to feel on 0 degrees!!!! Tomorrow will feel in the single digits. It is absolutely insane!
I forgot to mention about my dog! He will have an echo this afternoon and blood work on Monday. If everything comes out fine he will have surgery next Tuesday. I am so stressed and scared because he is 14 years old and the risk is higher. I am hoping and praying that his surgery is successful!
Yikes! I’d be very anxious, too. But hoping it is all successful for him!
Thank you!
Sending healing and calming vibes to you and your pup.
Thank you Cazaubon! We really need it!
So glad your bday was nice and that your sister and her husband gave you a nice little surprise.
It was really nice and I enjoyed it at all!
So glad you had a surprise cake and visit! Best of luck with your dogs surgery.
Thank you Lillyjo!
I’m so glad you had a birthday celebration! Your sister and her hubby are good eggs.
Sending good thoughts and prayers for you and your sweet dogger.
Thank you! Looking forward to a good outcome on his health situation.
I’m happy to hear that you had a birthday celebration after all! Positive thoughts and warm fuzzies for your dog’s tests and procedure.
Thank you Jalapeno! I hope everything goes fine with him.
Happy Wednesday that feels like a Friday! I’m at work while my husband is at home making pies! I’m testing Honoré de Prés Sexy Angelic, which… well, it’s very much a skin scent. If I sprayed myself generously all over from head to toe, I do think I’d have a very pleasant (and, sure, sexy) almond musk aura, but with half a sample vial I can barely smell it. Still, kind of great for what it is – if I were looking for a nonobtrusive signature scent this would be on the short list.
Nice!
I think that sounds great!
update, it has dried down and is now the world’s most sophisticated Love’s Baby Soft, which I am SO into
?. I need to look this up!
Happy hump day, all. Too early for perfume (pre-coffee), but I’m thinking I need to go with something bright and cheerful today. Perhaps Ann Gerard’s Ciel d’Opale, which is light and easy, yet not boring.
Planning a very low-key Thanksgiving, just me and a girlfriend sitting around eating Korean slow roasted pork shoulder (bo ssam) and watching a movie.
Yum, that sounds delicious. I have a recipe from the NYT, but haven’t tried making it yet. Will you cook your own bo ssam? Any tips?
Yep, pork will be slow roasting at my house. I use the recipe from the now defunct The Bitten Word:
https://www.thebittenword.com/thebittenword/2013/04/bo-ssam-with-ssam-sauce-and-garlic-scallion-sauce.html
This was adapted from the NYT/Momofuku recipe, but is, in my opinion, better, because of the crucial step of removing the excess salt/sugar rub from the pork before putting it in the oven. In fact, I just rinse everything off the pork prior to roasting. I also use a torch to caramelize the brown sugar crust as a last step, rather than a really hot oven (my smoke alarm goes off incessantly when I cook anything over 400 degrees).
Thank you! I’m excited to try making this.
Thank you so much for the recipe!! That looks fantastic, and I hope your low-key evening is fantastic as well.
Ahhh, a kitchen torch is on my Christmas wish list, and this recipe looks like the perfect use for it. Thanks for posting the recipe! It’s too bad the blog is defunct. It looks like it was a good one.
I love a low-key holiday! I wish I could do the same, but it looks it will not happen anytime soon…
One day…… 😉
Hope so!!!!! 😀
Sounds perfect and wish I were having that kind of holiday. The pork sounds delish! I’ll have to pass in that recipe to my live-in cook husband!
And I do think that Momofuku isn’t above being improved upon ? I went there once because of all the hype, waited for a table for over an hour, and frankly was somewhat underwhelmed in the end.
Underwhelmed is not good, especially after a lot of hype.
A friend of mine made the NYT/Momofuku recipe, and it was almost inedible because of the huge quantities of salt in the rub left on the outside. Rinsing it off is, IMHO, crucial.
Now that you mention that, I recall *something* being too salty to eat there.
Oh goodness, I love all foods Korean. That sounds amazing.
I’m having a low-key porky Thanksgiving as well! Just me and my son having pork tenderloin coated in crushed peanuts and hot peppers and butter. Lots of butter. Hubby had to go out of town to visit his ailing father. I suspect tomorrow will have a lot of Netflix in it. Or maybe, starting a new book.
It’s going to be fabulously non-stressful and pork-filled!
Enjoy your quiet day! And your pork tenderloins sound very delicious!
That sounds so nice, though spousal absence due to ailing parent is never fun. If you’re a Netflix watcher, you might try its new series, “The Kominsky Method.” It stars Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin, and I found it hilarious! I never binge-watch, and I binge-watched this. Enjoy your peaceful day!
Your thanksgiving sounds so relaxing and enjoyable. Have fun!
Sounds like pork is the new turkey for a Thanksgiving meal!
Not having turkey tomorrow, either. It will be the first time we have smoked a boneless leg of lamb, so here’s hoping it turns out all right.
Hi all! I’m happily wafting BK Amber Oud from the bottle split I did last spring – it’s like a warm, silky wrap on this cool rainy day in the PNW.
Like Lillyjo, this is a day off and I am VERY excited about it. And like NancyLeandros, I’ll be doing food prep and cleaning to host 8 tomorrow. Just walked the pupkin, now yoga and then I’ll get to it!.
Ha – And I just realized I’m in pretty much the opposite of the CP. Not a cheap thrill, but still a thrill to own my favorite BK. (Or maybe it counts since I bought the refill bottle rather than the fancy one?)
Of course it counts…I am still on decants of Amber Aoud, even tho I love it so… 🙂 Fortunately, even tho I have tried other BK’s none of them were that instant love have to have it sort of scent for me.
Have had a challenging couple of days the past few days. Mostly involving conflict with my son’s independent school. I hate conflict and having to stand your ground against bureaucrats who cannot think outside of their box/ move outside of their entrenched thinking. How do young minds cope with such inflexibility? I girded my loins by wearing all three leathers in my arsenal to the three meetings (yes three, and there is no resolution yet). Hoping that everybody having a challenging 2018 (pixel, rabbitsflower, calypso) may get a reprieve over December and that 2019 may be unexpectedly wonderful.
So stressful, wishing you good luck. Always most difficult when our children are involved. But I love that you “girded your loins” with fragrance. Yes, go forth and conquer!!
Thank you, Springpansy. I should perhaps clarify that my son wasn’t rude or behaving badly. He is just an “indigo” child in a world that sees black and white and, because he is quiet and does not demand attention, the teacher has allowed him to get very much behind on his academic goals. The school’s opinion is that “catch up” is impossible, while ours is that something can always be done about a situation, no matter how dire it seems. We will see if we can move past this stalemate/impasse.
I have an indigo son as well–maybe not in the true sense of the word, but he’s wonderful and different and doesn’t go from A to C by way of B. I believe we need to make room at the table for all kinds of people and that way we all benefit. And I agree that something can always be done. Isn’t that what we want to teach our children?
Amen
Thank you for sticking up for your quiet child…introverts need to be acknowledged in this very extroverted world we live in.
Thank you to you both. I’ve never had a “therapist”, but my idea of the perfect one would be an amalgam of all the nice people here at NST encouraging each other!
Hear hear. I just talked to my parents this weekend about what misery I was in during my elementary school years. I was quiet and they had no idea how much I was suffering.
Hugs for you and your son and so glad you are holding your ground for him!
Thank you!
So sorry you have to go through this, but your son is lucky to have parents sticking up for him. I hate all forms of bureaucracy, but it’s especially hard when you’re fighting for your children.
I hate/avoid conflict too. That’s just my personality type. When it comes to my children though, I am amazed at the strength and perseverance that I am able to summon. Stay strong! I hope everything works out the best for your son!
Good for you for standing your ground!
Ugh, I dislike conflict too, especially when a beloved child’s needs are at stake. Love the image of you fortifying yourself with not one but three leather fragrances! If your son is an introvert (as I am), you might get a lot out of the book “Quiet”, by Susan Cain. She also has a great TED talk online, about introverts. Very inspiring and reassuring. Good luck!
OMG!!! I was just going to recommend that book!!! It was an eye opener for me in terms of understanding myself and my eldest marzipan.
Thank you so much for thinking of me. It’s very kind and makes me feel happy. Yes things are tough, but we have some plans that I hope will work for the coming winter/spring.
Wearing good old Mitsouko extrait de parfum, just because. I got all of my Guerlain extraits on eBay years ago. Not dirt cheap, but not costing an arm and a leg either.
Glad to see NST up and running again, it felt kind of odd without it, yesterday.
It did feel odd without it yesterday. I have never warmed up to Mitsouko but maybe it was the version I tried…
This sounds awfully decadent but I’ve only ever tried Jicky, Mitsouko, L’heure bleue, Shalimar, Chamade and Nahéma in extrait. I think I’ve read in a couple of places that they smell quite different according to the concentration. And, not everyone likes Mitsouko or other big Guerlains for that matter.
Do you like Chanels?
Sorry it took so much longer than planned!
No need for any apologies, just really glad NST is working again.
And you smell great! I still have one or two tester bottles of the old extraits; the L’Heure Bleue is heavenly.
It felt like not having my cup of tea at the usual time.
SOTD: Pacifica Breath Taking perfume oil.
This CP is perfect for me – I am a cheapskate from a long line of cheapskates! My perfume collection is almost entirely cheap thrills and decants of perfumes that are too expensive for a full bottle.
Way to go. I’m also a cheapskate and really kind of proud of it. Mostly.
Where there’s a will, there’s a way! I got into perfume while I was a broke grad student, and I started out by requesting aaaallll the free samples (Diptyque, Hermes, Sephora, Mugler, Dame, etc.) and did lots of sample swaps with folks I met both here and in other online communities. Perfume people are truly the best, most generous people.
Now I have a big-girl job and am a cheapskate by choice rather than necessity, so I try to pay it forward whenever I can!
Nothing wrong with being frugal. And there are lots of inexpensive fragrances that are equally as enjoyable.
My perfume collection sounds very similar to yours. I seem to have a particular price point in my head that I am comfortable with and sometimes that buys 100mls, sometimes 5, Lol.
Parfum d’Empire Ambre Russe for today.
Going to see new Magical Beasts movie after dinner 🙂
I hope the movie is good!
Report back about the movie
You smell great. I am going to see the movie with a bunch of girlfriends on Sunday – enjoy.
If you liked Harry Potter series or previous Fantastic Beasts movie, you’ll love Crimes of Grindelwald even more.
Pretty strange to see the “closed” sign up here yesterday. Right now it is raining in San Francisco and for the first time in two weeks I don’t see or smell smoke. All I want to smell today is real air.
Hope you get to smell lots and lots of real air today.
What a relief! Wishing you guys much more needed rain.
Sorry about that! But congrats on the rain, that’s wonderful.
Enjoy the clean air!
I’ll be wearing my old fave 10 Corso Como from a decant that was on top of the pile. Have been in the house for 10 days now and weathered a big fight with DH. ? All is well now, however, even though my perfume collection is still all ahoo.
Tomorrow’s predicted temperature range is 12-22F. yikes! Plus, while we were adding a new gas fireplace, we found out that our 1925 house has no insulation. :::sigh::: At least we have a fireplace to keep us warm now, lol!
No as in none at all?! Glad you have that fireplace!
🙂 None except the attic floor. We were already planning to add to the walls and ceiling there; I guess we’ll just have to do a bit more. Argh.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! ❄? That sounds downright frigid! Will you have to wait for warmer weather to get insulation put in?
Hey, and don’t forget that wind chill! ?
I’m not sure sure about the timing for insulation- we had a long to-do list, and unfortunately I let that one slide down a ways.
I’m in Tocca Colette today for no reason other than it’s one of my easy go-tos. I just love this one.
Only working half a day today thank goodness. Made homemade cranberry sauce and New Mexico red chile sauce last night. Apparently New Mexicans use red chile like gravy on Thanksgiving, so I figured when in Rome and all haha. Will go home today and make the desserts and prep the sweet potato casserole. I’m trying to do as much as possible ahead of time- I made out a schedule lol!
I love this one too! I have the travel spray and I wish all perfume came in 20ml bottles just like it, such a great little size.
Red chile “gravy” sounds right up my alley. Hope you enjoy!
I’m so envious of your cooking schedule. We’re having Thanksgiving with my husband’s family and while I love them, their planning style is… not like mine. I tried to ask who would be making what and they were like, “We’ll all cook together! It will be fun!”. It was pulling teeth to even get them to talk in advance about buying groceries. So, my plan is to switch off every controlling bone in my body (there are… quite a few) and just do what I’m told and enjoy the result, whatever it is. There will, at least, be pie and wine.
Regina, you and I must have similar styles. “We’ll all cook together!” sounds like a nightmare ?
I am sooo with you. I made a list of dishes I was making, then a detailed grocery list based on that, then what day I was making what dish. Yes, I’m a little crazy haha. So yeah, the “let’s all cook together” thing would make me crazy! I have complete faith though that you will be able to go with the flow- as you said, focus on pie and wine!
Oh, my glob. I just texted him to ask when we are going over there for this cooking extravaganza. He did not know. Friends, *we are bringing the turkey*
Better safe than sorry.
Hold up…you are bringing the turkey but don’t know what time to start cooking it?!
Thought of you yesterday. My tj maxx has alot of Tocca right now, full bottles at 29.99. Which is a good price imo. I couldn’t remember the name of yours at the time. I don’t know how I feel about chile gravy…, but I will assume it’s better than my not real gravy, gravy?
What??? That is an excellent price!! Those bottles are gorgeous… Thick heavy glass… wonder if they have Brigitte… that’s my favorite of the Toccas
They had quite a few, I didn’t have time to do a thorough search for names, just noticed alot of the different colors.
???
Colette is beautiful! I have the hair perfume formulation, and it’s just lovely. Sounds as if it will be a feast at your house! Enjoy your day!
A cooking schedule is the only way that I will not go nuts during the holidays! “Hey, let’s just wing it!” would be torture. Hopefully everything turns out fine for everyone.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve to all!
Today I’m wearing Lorenzo Villoresi’s Teint de Niege.
You smell fantastic!
Thanks…I am really enjoying it!
I relly want to try that some day, it sounds lovely.
Twisted Lily (which initially came out as Twisted Kiky due to fat fingers) carries the line. I’ll try to remember to request a sample of it the next time I order.
They have it listed in their brands, but when you select it there are no products available, which leads me to believe they’ve stopped stocking it. Boo.
They haven’t had that line there for over a year now. He tends to axe lines pretty quickly that aren’t selling. Sometimes leftovers go to Parfum1, discounted(with their eternal coupon). I ended up getting a decant from STC, though.
I like reading about all your Thanksgiving plans. We have had lots of rain and flooding , I think we got a month’s worth of rain in a single day and everything feels damp. The poor birds and rabbits look miserable, and I think a lot of newly hatched birds either die of cold or drown in the sodden nests The adults tip the dead young out and I have seen quite a few on the paths. Poor things. Well, early morning looking across the mist covered valley from my bed on the couch ( which is comfier than my bed, actually). I gave in to temptation yesterday and ordered two smell bent perfumes, one blind (40% off.Code: wonderful) the other Smoked Ambergris ( which I am wearing from a sample) .
Ooh, thanks for the code! I want to order 1997.
Oh dear, that is a lot of rain! Poor baby birds.
I’m in Fils de Dieu and a ferociously bad mood. I wear both quite well, thank you very much.
Enjoy your perfume and bad mood
At least you smell great!
I used to refer to those as my black moods…where I was in a bad mood and really liked it.
Your scent counterbalances…
Oh no! I hope your mood improves- at least if you want it to. Sometimes I quite enjoy reveling in my bad mood lol.
I have been like that a few day lately – . Acknowledgement and then enjoying life despite it works well for me.’
Hope your perfume helps improve your mood! Sending peace and love! ?
Oh no! I know exactly what you mean though, I have days where I can hardly stand myself. Hope it improves for you!
I hope your bad mood passes quickly. I wondered this AM, as I spritzed, if we would twin today. Musta been sensing you. Hoping tomorrow will be better!
Sometimes rolling with a bad mood is exactly the right thing to do. I totally get “enjoying” them every so often.
Lili Bermuda Frangipani
I have a travel spray but I FB is on my list
Tea is Pleine Lune
Have a great thanksgiving to those who celebrate
Hope you will get your FB!
Wearing FM’s Eau de Magnolia, my springtime go-to. Not sure why it was calling my name today, but there you go.
I don’t have to work today AND I’m not hosting tomorrow, so all I have to do is make a pumpkin cheesecake. I’ve hosted for the past five years, so not really sure what to do with myself . . .
You smell fab! I can see wearing EdM in winter. At some point in the season I start craving crisp and fresh.
Mmmm. Pumpkin cheesecake. Enjoy the break!
Enjoy your time off from hosting!
Like you, this is the first time I am not hosting after so many, many years. It feels weird. I am making potato salad to bring to my sister, who is the one hosting and I will enjoy the relaxing time without worrying about cooking and cleaning up. Time for a well deserved break!
Enjoy your time off!
I could offer some tips on what to do with yourself: sit back, kick your feet up and enjoy! Woo hoo!
And drink more wine, or beverage of your choice, than normal. 🙂
SOTD is Satori which is wafting quietly but beautifully today. I just love this stuff. Probably my favorite incense/woods/spice at the moment.
And on the Japanese scent aesthetic theme: Recommendation du jour-Nippon Kodo incense Kyuragi Sandalwood. Beautiful but not overpowering, low smoke(no wood stick).
Holiday plans: in-laws on Long Island. We’ve been instructed to bring ice cream. Pretty easy? But I’m gonna make an apple-pear pie also.
Also, on the cat front:
we vetted and adopted out one of our older, friendlier outdoor colony cats this past weekend and while the adopters are nice folks, they are super unresponsive to requests for updates from me. We’ve started an email thread for them to post updates to our 10 caregiver volunteers and I’ve sent texts and I’m just not getting any responses which is making me and others kind of anxious. Any advice from anyone with experience in cat adoptions please advise!!! I don’t want to be pushy and I know people are busy, holidays etc, but also feel like we should be getting updates on her adaptation when requested.
I don’t think you should worry – some people are naturally less communicative than others. Unless you stipulated up front that they would have to give you updates, as a cat adopter I would never assume I had a duty to do this.
We should’ve been more explicit and systematic. Some of our other more active local TNR/rescue people have a more rigorous protocol which does also include agreeing to home visits to check the cats well being(and offer support and tips) in the beginning, especially with cats that have never been socialized or indoors. Hindsight is always 20/20…
Aw, you are really full service! The kitties are lucky to have you.
No advice. But I agree. It’s one thing when it’s a regular adoption. But from an outdoor colony, updates make sense.
By the way, who knew Freddie Mercury was such a cat lover? So sweet.
I need to see Bohemian Rhapsody!
I also had a not great cat sitting experience this past summer where the sitter was not a communicative type and only reported our male cat as being a little shy when we probed for updates. Found out after that he had been under the bed all week and she wasn’t sure if he had been eating. He was thinner and also developed an itchy stress rash for which we had to give him steroids. So, I think that experience makes me not assume they’d let us know if it wasn’t fine.
Have they updated at all?
No. I checked in with them at night of the day we dropped her off and she just said “still shy”. I have texted her subsequently with viral lab results and for an update but no reply at all.
I think I was spoiled by 2 recent kittens we adopted out. Both adopters post photos and updates regularly on their FB pages- which was how they preferred to keep everyone in the loop. I guess I assumed this would be similar. I’m also worried because the cat is older and has a couple of health issues which weren’t urgent, but might get worse under stress.
You smell gorgeous!
Sorry for the worries on the cat adoption front. I hope they will let you know asap how things are (and hopefully the cat is doing fine!).
Thank you! I do love this stuff so much so, I’m afraid to wear it too much and use it up. Also hard to over spray this stuff.
You smell beautiful today.
Ice cream will work great with the pie you made.
I hope the kitty is just fine butI I would worry too. Is a home visit out of the question?
Thank you! And I should try Fils d D in the cold. I always think of it as summer, but it’s a little too sweet for me in the summer.
I’d want to go see her eventually, more because I’ll miss seeing her. But right now I’d settle for “she’s eating, using litter box, but still hiding under the bed” in writing.
No advice here, just my best wishes for the kitty and your peace of mind.
Wearing Une Rose today, from a free jumbo sample. I love it, but not enough to pay those prices.
I tried Une Rose once, but it was probably the only FM that I washed off. (Shamefaced admission). It felt claustrophobic on me, as though it was strangling me. Strange…
I adore UR, but I so know that feeling! No need to be shamefaced, there’s nothing worse than a perfume making you claustrophobic — and that’s just how I think of it too.
Rose cousins with you!
PSA: Ebay has 15% off sitewide today until 8pm EST.
I’m in Elie Saab essences Rose today. It is freezing here in Jackson Hole
You smell very nice
Another Wyoming person! I lived around Thermopolis for most of my life, until I married into the woods in Michigan. My sister told me they had -5 at the ranch yesterday. Stay warm! But hey, out there, it’s a dry cold. 🙂
I am wearing Caron Aimez Moi, which is a gift from a lovely friend. We were shopping at a Caron Boutique in Paris two years ago. I bought a bottle of Caron Piu Bellodgia and she bought Aimez Moi. Recently, she told me she can’t wear it because it gives her a headache, and did I want it. Heck yea I wanted it 🙂
Wow, how generous. Happy Thanksgiving!
That’s a friend indeed!
I am wearing Winter Woods!
LOVEEEE that one…so sweet and ambery on my skin..you smell fantastic!
Yeah its fabulous!
I only have a small sample vial and I think I will empty it somewhere this year/winter. If someone knows a fragrance that smells just like it, please let me know. 🙂
SotD is Lea. One of my favorite comfort scents for a day of cleaning, laundry and last minute errands. About to throw a pumpkin pie in the oven while I wait for my college kids to arrive home. I woke up almost giddy this morning with anticipation.
Happy Thanksgiving eve to all those that celebrate!
My two came home last night…enjoy the time with your bigs!!!!!
Thanks CM8! You too!
I’m very happy for you to have everyone home?☉
I’m in Camel again, which counts toward the CP because I can’t get a FB because it’s too expensive, in that it costs something at all and I can’t buy anything at all. My coworker commented on how nice I smell! This doesn’t happen to me often 🙂 Today, I actually got accidentally heavy-handed and let a quarter of my sample run down my neck by accident. I should do that every day.
My flight from Boise to SF is delayed for an undefined amount of time, but I was able to hop on an earlier flight that was delayed by three hours, so I’ll end up just being half an hour late!
That airplane math, made me dizzy! Safe travels to you.
The airplane math turned out not to be right anyway, because there was a further 1.5-hour delay 🙁 But I eventually did get home, just over two hours later than hoped!
Scent twins! My husband loves Camel on me but I must confess that it doesn’t last long enough for me. Next time I’m going to layer it with some amber oil.
Hope you safely get where you’re going, Koyel!
Wow! It has excellent longevity on me, actually. Thanks for your kind wishes–I eventually made it home 🙂
Happy Trails, Koyel! I hope that you are now at home safe and sound.
Thanks, Jalapeno, I am! I finally made it, and am cozily at home while we get some much-needed rain outside 🙂
I’m all rosy today wearing double Le Labo roses: Baie Rose 26 sprayed and Rose 31 hand and body lotion. The latter is still from my courtesy small bottles at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto. I do like the Baie Rose, which is more spicy, but that lotion lingers in a most pleasant way. Has anyone else noticed how bad the sprayers are on the LL sample bottles? I’m having problems with all of them, and they’re not cheap.
Even the travel spray that I bought recently is terrible
I am in OS Ombre Indigo today. Just had to spritz on some of that blue green liquid!
You smell great! I love Ombre Indigo.
Wearing Parfums MDCI Fêtes Persanes and trying to motivate myself to get out of the chair and start baking. The battery is just about flat on my iPad so I think that will resolve my problem.
You smell wonderful and spicy. Happy baking!
How did I miss this one? I bet you smell great!
Cozy in Oielettes Rouge – I can never remember how to spell that correctly, but lo, these many hours after I put it on I still smell like rich carnations with a few other random blossoms in there to cut the goodness. 🙂
I need to find my mandoline, and slice up a bunch of sweet potatoes tonight, so that I can make a sweet potato/Manchego cheese/2 cups of cream/3 eggs/a pinch of nutmeg savory casserole to take to MIL’s tomorrow. Also some zuchini bannana nut bread I made with gluten free flours which turned out really good. 25% quinoa flour in any sort of dough makes everything better, in my experience…
Enjoy the holiday, everyone who celebrates this.
I have to say I maintain an awareness of friends on the Shoshone/Arapahoe reservation in Wyoming who have gotten radical recently, who refer to this holiday as Occupation Day. Part of being thankful for what we have, is acknowledging those who are having a different experience….sorry for the politics.
Meredifay, I totally agree with your politics, not to get too political.
Cheers and totally agree with your last statement.
Maintaining an awareness that others have a different experience — that is not politics, right? That’s what we should all do.
Posting late today! Lots of pre-Thanksgiving tasks being done today. I’m thinking of the people who will be working on Black Friday, and hoping that their day will go well.
SOTD = FM Superstitious, from the sample stash and an NST swap buddy. I’m perfume house cousins with Robin today. This is a comfort scent to me, and I needed one after yesterday’s perfumed miss.
You smell great, Jalapeno! I will of course be working Black Friday, thanks for the positive thoughts ?
Hey cousin!
Lillyjo, isn’t online shopping decreasing the number of people who go out to shop in person on Black Friday?
I’m wearing ELDOs Fils de Dieu et des agrumes thinking it would be great fir a day of baking. It went nicely with the pumpkin pies and cheesecake I made today. Happy Thanksgiving to US NSTRS!
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Petunia! All my running around today, and I forgot the pumpkin pie!, but I remembered the whip cream, lol. Wish I was a baker, like you.
Oh no! I used to bake alot when I was younger but I mostly bake for holidays now. I hope you can get some type of dessert together for the holiday.
Wishing you a holiday that is relaxing and stress free!
I’ve been wanting to pull out my decant of that recently. I should just do it!
Happy Thanksgiving Jalapeno!
Robin, I have been receiving a 502 request error when trying to access NST on my Android phone. Still.
Sorry, it’s just me, and I don’t know what that means, but wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving, in case I don’t “see” you tomorrow ??✌??☉??(I just threw the last one in there for fun?)
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, lillyjo !
And Thank YOU ! ???
???✌?????????????????????⚪??⚪⚪???
I hope that your Thanksgiving is full of all the good things, Bear! ?
???? Thanks Jalapeno ! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours !??????✌???
Thanks for letting me know Bear, and sorry I am so late to see it!
We moved servers yesterday, actually we moved servers twice, so it is probably a lag in the DNS propagation and it will probably sort itself out, but I will see if it is possible to investigate tomorrow or if everybody who could help me is off for the day 🙂
Really late today, even for me. I’m wearing Theorema. Thanksgiving is not my favorite holiday (it’s generally about the food and I don’t much care for any of it) so I am staying home and eating Vietnamese. Or maybe North African.
Enjoy whatever strikes your fancy for eats tomorrow! I haven’t had Vietnamese food in ages… sounds delicious.
It is not generally my favorite food either, although I do like mashed potato. Vietnamese sounds perfect!
Back at the hospital after working a half day and getting groceries for tomorrow. Boyfriend is getting a procedure done on his abscess right now (finally). It’s not the procedure they initially thought they’d do, and we didn’t necessarily expect for him to still be here this time. This visit has been a fustercluck. His radiology orders somehow got cancelled when all that should have been cancelled was the drainage procedure. He still should have been on their schedule for a needle extraction. Luckily his inflammation has gone way down based on all the IV antibiotics he’s had. I feel so bad for him and even more so because my mom and grandma are flying in tonight and visiting until next Wed morning. Luckily they’re staying with my aunt and uncle and not us.
Anyway, wearing Strange Invisible Perfumes L’Invisible from the first pricy niche bottle I bought for myself back in 2010 or so. I’ve mentioned before but this was back when $135 was expensive for niche perfume. I can’t afford their prices anymore. It’s comforting to me.
Here’s hoping this is the last chapter in his ordeal and you can both go home and have a restful holiday!
Thanks, cazaubon!
Best health wishes to your boyfriend. It’s scary how thing’s got messed up like that. I really hope you both can rest easier soon.
Thanks, lillyjo! It is really unfortunate when there are mix ups like that but at least this wasn’t life threatening.
Also, I’ve really appreciated everyone’s kind comments about this situation! I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving if you celebrate.
Best wishes to him and you in this ordeal, what a nightmare! I hope he’s able to be home tomorrow.
Ugh. I’m really feeling for you both. I also hope there are no more complications from here!
Wow, that is absolutely harrowing. I hope that it all ends well for the both of you ASAP!
Oh my, what a disaster! So hope it is all sorted out and he is home soon.
Hope he has a speedy recovery!
rabbitsflower, sorry that you and your boyfriend had to go through that ordeal. Wishing you a better day and improved health. ❤️
Wearing Lutens’ La Fille de Berlin — wow! So gorgeous! I was lucky enough to find a tester for a reasonable price, so I’m able to spritz — if not with abandon, at least with less caution. Still using a light hand, though, as this “girl” is strong. But oh so beautiful.
I agree that La Fille de Berlin is a gorgeous rose scent! ?
