Tuesday scent of the day 11/20

Posted by Robin on 20 November 2018 59 Comments

We're getting started rather late in the day, but better late than never? It's Monday's ugly little sister, and it's Universal Children’s Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in a cheap thrill, Tauer Perfumes Rose Delight Body Oil, layered with a dab of Tauerville Rose Flash.

Reminder: on 11/23, pick your Black Friday poison: wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it's too expensive.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

    Hello all !

I am wearing TM Angel today. I had a doctor’s appointment today, so I sprayed VERY lightly. I also used a little of the Angel hair mist. It is another souvenir from my trip. It is very nice 🙂

And it is no easy thing to spray Angel lightly! Hope the appointment went well.

Wearing Aromatics Elixir as my SOTD. My day is nearly over, but AE is still very much present.

I’m wearing the original Aedes today as I bake a cherry buckle, with help from Bertie Wooster. Cooking with cats is always interesting. (Cat haters, you may take that statement any way you please.)

Having been owned by cats in the past, I can imagine just what kind of help you are receiving. The cherry buckle sounds delish!

“Owned by cats” is exactly what it is like. As they say, dogs have masters, but cats have staff.

    SotD = Infusion d’Iris edt

Infusion d’Iris is one of my first true loves since falling for perfume again. I loved the original edp, but alas the base was changed by the time I decided to buy a bottle. I ordered the edt unsniffed for a bargain price, have been happy ever since.

Robin, that’s a lovely art image up top today, and I hope your hubbo is feeling better very soon! 🙂

I wore Eau des Merveilles to work today and then applied Dzongka when I got home. Sitting on the couch with a glass of wine, waiting for my parents to arrive. I’m so excited to see them!!

I guess being a person who frequently posts late in the day is working to my advantage. SOTD was DeProfundis and very fitting for the cold, rainy weather.

I’m wearing Dark Horse for work tonight. I have 2 days off after tonight. I’m thankful, because I’m feeling another attack of the sinus infection coming on. Stopped by tj maxx and marshalls today, they had some pretty good stuff, but not super cheap, will have to wait and see what’s left on clearance after Christmas.

Missed you today NST! Especially as I am trying out a weird one – Olympic Orchids Chevalier Vert. I am totally getting the rhubarb, tomato leaf and violet from the notes list – but someone told me my office smelled like pot today! Which jives with a Basenotes review I saw, even though I don’t personally smell it. Guess this is one to wear with caution.

Side note about rhubarb – the three rhubarb perfumes I’ve tried (this one, CdG, and Hermès) all smell like fresh cut rhubarb to me, but what I really love is rhubarb stewed and sugared; anyone have a recommendation along those lines?

I don’t have recs, but the original Aedes, which has some crossover notes with your SOTD, smelled like weed to me so I swapped away my decant. I was afraid if I smelled it, others would too. I think it’s partly the tomato leaf…

A comment I know got lost, from therabbitsflower :

“I went to work for a little over an hour this morning and then left to bring the bf to the hospital to get his abscess drained. We’ve been here for about 5 hours and that still hasn’t happened, so we’re playing the waiting game. He has not been allowed to eat since last night, so he’s fairly miserable.

I smell perfect in Une Fleur de Cassie.”

    And then foxbins replied:

“You guys aren’t having an easy time of it, are you? I’m so sorry. I hope he feels better soon.”

I managed to snag a dabbed sample of:

    Hiram Green Hyde !!!

Oh my goodnesss! I have been very naughty, but what’s new? Maybe start worrying if I’m behaving?

Hyde is SMOKEY INCENSE and BIRCH TAR-infused LEATHER, softened slightly by a whiff of VANILLA. Initial projection was quite strong because but soon becomes a skin scent. And, it passed the all natural test – mild soap and water removed ALL traces. I will be buying a bottle!

I had initially intended to completely segregate my work apps from my personal mobile device; however, having lived with a forced separation (work apps on old dying phone while trying to install the work apps on a different device than the personal one I use for everything else, I realized that it was silly to carry 2 devices that I am dependent upon.
I have now reconciled myself to one device and I will use the extra device as a back-up phone or give it to my mom if she wants to start using one.

Sorry to hear that you are having server problems Robin.

Back to playing in the untested samples today. SOTD = Botytris (sp?). Not sure if I am just cranky today, or if this perfume isn’t quite my thing. Maybe it’s not the right weather for it. I will retry again at a later date.

Therabbitsflower, I am seriously bummed out to hear that your long-suffering boyfriend does have an abscess. I hope that the wait is over by now.

It’s early Wednseday morning here, and I am currently commando, but I wore Pour un homme de Caron on Tuesday. It’s both a cheapie and a recent purchase. I remember that although I liked this scent first, I was not very impressed and did not consider it decant worthy. Well, this soft creamy lavender really grew on me over the time, so I bought a 10 ml decant. 🙂

250ml? I’d say go for it – not only you can share it, but it’s also a kind of scent you can apply a lot without overspraying.

Yes 250ml!!! Left out that zero because it was 3am and did not have my tea yet! It’s been sitting in my fragrancenet cart for a while now…best part is it’s a splash bottle for easy decanting. the idea of creamy lavender is very appealing to me 🙂

I also use big cheap splash bottles for scented baths. 🙂
It’s a creamy lavender + green herbal notes, but the green notes are quite subdued. Quite unisex despite the name, in my opinion.
