Almost-Friday, Taco Day and Vodka Day! It's also World Animal Day, and if you live in Sweden, Cinnamon Roll Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I made a minor switch, to good old Prada Amber Pour Homme.
Reminder: 10/5 is International Teachers Day. Pick a fragrance that honors a teacher, in one way or another.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image from the Prada Fall / Winter 2018 campaign.
Robin, you triggered a lemming to wear something I actually own.
Wearing Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue, and I smell wonderful.
excellent! les infusions de prada never fail me. 😉
And it fits the CP as I am learning to shop what I have 🙂
Ha, now I want to wear it again! But Prada Homme is delicious.
I never tried the original Homme but I vastly preferred infusion d’homme to the original
Good day everyone!
I’m in Nu today, which I am really enjoying. Peppery and woody, and perfectly dry. Even though I love the bottle, I’m nervous to pull it out; I’d hate to scratch it!
Does that bottle scratch? I guess it looks like it would but I never thought about it.
Yes, sadly. It’s just coated plastic. I saw a tester once that looked like a palm-reading chart.
The plastic box doesn’t hold up much better either, honestly but that wouldn’t break my heart.
Way back when I only had < 20 bottles, I considered keeping my bottles pristine. Looking at my Kelly Caleche bottle, I thought that the little lock would get scratched up every time I wore it. What did I do? I wrapped the little lock with plastic wrap and went on to finish the bottle. Look ma, no scratches!
I don’t try too hard but for done reason, the Nu bottle really gets to me. Maybe because it doesn’t come in that bottle anymore, but I want to keep it nice!
I’ll never forget dropping my bottle of Brin de Reglisse. I about had a heart attack!
Some reason*
SOTD is Kyoto – I feel serene and contemplative. Plus I smell great. Happy Friday Eve!
Yes you do!
You smell great!
Yum!
You do smell wonderful! And calm.
Wafting calm and carrying on!
SotD = MEM
😀 ha! Just remembered that my son called me “mem” instead of “mama” when he was a little guy, lol. Maybe that’s why this one is extra special to me. Also the lavender plus 1000 other things it reminds me of never fail to mesmerize me.
+1 to all the things! especially to Almost-Friday, woot woot!
SoCal life means we always have tortillas in the house. Anything can be wrapped in a tortilla soTaco Day is any day here. I had the best fish tacos of my life a few weeks ago from a food truck in the parking lot of a Home Depot. Vodka Day?!!? Though I don’t indulge, I appreciate the cultural significance. People gotta ferment stuff, it’s part of human history.
World Animal Day is awesome and should be an every day thing. Animals need us, we need them.
If I lived in Sweden every day would also be Cinnamon Roll Day. Anyone know if IKEA still sells cinnamon rolls? Gah, those were so good and made the drive home sticky sweet. As luck would have it, I have homemade cinnamon rolls on my kitchen counter thanks to my sister. YUM.
I so miss fish tacos! You can get reasonably decent ones here now, I guess, but easily the best I ever had were in Baja, many many moons ago, at a street stand.
fish tacos in Baja are delicious! 😀
MEM was my initials before I was married, 29 years ago. I will have to check it out.
That is so sweet how memories pop into our heads. I enjoyed your memory of your son being little.
aw, that’s a fun coincidence! my mother’s married initials are MAM. 😉
IKEA still had cinnamon buns as of last year, but they were a bit dry :-/
The story of your son was very cute 🙂
thanks for the cinnbun update, not surprised, it seems like the food at IKEA was better a long time ago.
What a lovely story about MEM and your son! I definitely had an “Awwwwwwwwwww!” moment after reading about it.
awwww, yay! it is fun when those happy baby days come back in memory. 🙂
I’m wearing Bracken Woman from my most recent Scentbird delivery. It’s definitely a switch from the honeyed sweetness of yesterdays Prairie Nymph.
I also got this one from Scentbird. I liked it but my boyfriend HATED it.
Another grey rainy day here, I’m packing and cleaning house in TDC Une Nuit Magnetique. Getting ready to fly south for the winter with the birdies.
Fly by and pick me up ????
Me too please ??
TDC makes some wonderful scents, although I have not tried this one.
I will join you! ????????
Ack, don’t leave me behind! I wanna go.
California looks forward to having you back 🙂
Thanks Koyel! It will be nice to be back within swapping range again. 🙂

Bulgari Black
A friend who always entertains with a fully stocked bar, once prepared a Cinnamon Buns Martini for me.
Oh so wrong for the martini purist, yet OH so right! ????????????
????????????✌
Smelling good, Bear! I went looking for the Very Irresistible for men at ULTA last night. Didn’t find it, just alot of Gentleman flankers.
My husband used to wear Very Irresistible for men. Great scent. I haven’t seen it in a while. I think its been discontinued 🙁
Thanks lillyjo!
I think VI is a victim of the perfume churn, release, discontinue, NEXT! ✌????????????
How is anything supposed to become a Classic anymore, if everything just gets discontinued? adding, that this also applies to music. Sigh…. as long as someone is making money, I guess ☹????
You smell super good!
????????????????✌
I’d try a Cinnamon Buns Martini. ????????
Thank you my emoji guru. ????????????????????????????????????????✌????????????
Smelling good in L’artisan Saffran Troublant for another warm, sunny, gorgeous day!
Yay Sun! It’s the last of it here for awhile… Enjoy!
Sun will stay for a while here and the weekend so far looks really good! ????☀️????☀️.
Lucky you! It’s rain rain rain here.
Unrelated in response to your question from yesterday: I don’t think the Kiehl’s musk lotion is discontinued as I bought it from a Kiehl’s shop relatively recently (I think spring or summer). It should be there online at least.
You will be in sun territory very soon! ????
I love this one, I polished off my bottle pretty quickly. You smell great!
Thank you! I really love ST!
Glad to hear that you had another sunny day! Were you outside working today?
Yes, I worked outside the whole day and it was really great. Some rain late in the afternoon, but I was home by then! Looking forward to a beautiful weekend!
Good morning 🙂 I am happy today is Thursday. This week has been dragging on for me.
I am wearing Guerlain Meteorites La Parfum today and drinking a cup of cranberry green tea.
Ooh… how does it smell?
Very soft and pleasing to the nose. It is not groundbreaking by any means, but very pleasant.
Meteorites is such an easy wear. I only have a small bottle but enjoy it. You smell nice!
Wearing Shalini from my small bottle. Yes, it was a splurge. No, I have never regretted it. Fits the CP: a lesson in feeling like I can splurge on me once in a while.
Very good!
Like that onld Loreal commercial, « Because you’re worth it! ». 🙂
Well done!
Hi NSTers!
I have a mini bottle of Grey Flannel up for grabs in the freebiemeet, if anyone’s interested. Really wanted to like it, but the violet leaf in the top notes is just too harsh for me. The drydown, though, is a much softer, slightly powdery violet.
Today’s SOTD is Kiehl’s Original Musk with lemon-sage scented lotion.
Thanks for the PSA. I claimed Grey Flannel and will email you shortly! I think I only smelled GF once, maybe 11 years ago and I can’t remember it well. It seems like something I should be more familiar with.
Oh good! Just responded to your email
SOTD is Dzongkha. Glad my weekend (Fri & Sat) is starting soon. It’s been a long week. Yesterday’s SOTD, Jaisalmer, actually got TWO compliments at work. That never happens!
Jaisalmer is a favorite, and has garnered me one compliment at work – also a rare occurrence.
Work perfume compliments are the best!
You smell fabulous in Dzongka.
Going a little crazy with noise here today: at the back by bedroom and study windows is the chap cutting down brush, trees, overgrown weeds in the churchyard, and in front of my flat by the sitting room the small joinery business is running two big saws today. Everywhere in the middle is rattling between the two sounds and I can’t find my noise-cancelling ear phones. Argh.
Escape to the pool? Screaming children.
Oh well.
Clearly it wasn’t going to be a day to concentrate on complicated things.
But Dryad today–perfect for a bright, blustery autumn day. Edinburgh is starting to get its golden finery on, particularly in the low afternoon light when everything just glows.
Oh, dear, that sounds awful. I hate that kind of noise pollution. Here where I live there are often yard men going around with those horridly loud leaf blowers. They’re the absolute worst imho. (Well except for jack-hammers I guess.) Hope it eases off soon.
oh. Yes. I had forgotten the jack hammers! (That was only brief, and should be over tomorrow… some investigation going on a building site close by).
I found the ear phones. They are charging over night. If they aren’t enough… I’ll head out to somewhere quite, like a major traffic intersection 😉
How frustrating not to be able to escape noise in one’s own home.
Hoping it has now calmed down and that you can enjoy some peace.
I don’t know Dryad and will look it up.
A gorgeously quiet evening, thankfully.
Dryad is a truly lovely mossy green chypre (Angela wrote a really good review of it here on NST) Les Senteurs carry Papillon scents, though Liz Moores sells directly too (including a sample set.)
I too am wearing dryad today! I love it so much.
Twins in gorgeousness 🙂
Same weather and fall glow here in Quebec – lovely (when it’s not raining).
Surprisingly dry so far here for this time of the year… the sideways rain hasn’t kicked off yet.
Sitting here waiting for new couch to be delivered and ????????fit through the door. They’re supposed to come by 12:30…. ( I dreamt about couch deliveries last night…good grief.)
Wearing Chanel Coromandel from a decant. Been a while. I do like this, although I have to say today is a tough one. I’ve gone through at least six tissues from sneezing and blowing my nose this morning. Could be dust from moving stuff around and vacuuming in prep for the couch.
Or, I need to start using my local honey that’s supposed to target fall allergies.
I had troubles with Coromandel. I liked it for about 15 minutes, or if it was about 3 feet away from me. After a while, the musky chocolate drydown would give me big headaches, like I was wearing a mohair turtleneck that was too tight. On paper I liked it very much. I find if I am looking for a patchouli type thing, I can find it elsewhere by either just layering a small bit of patchouli e/o with some vanilla fragrance, or the Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights, which is a very light version of the same. Of course, it could just be the dust. 😉
Maybe it’s helpful for me today that I am snuffling. It wears light on me though.
????????????????????????. The couch arrived (two hours later than the window I was given). It fit! The delivery guys were saying it didn’t fit in the freight elevator… the building guy was rolling his eyes because he knew it would. My husband went down and supervised. They got it in and it came through our apt door easily… it looks great and we are thrilled! Old couch will be removed tomorrow. Goodbye old friend. You served us well, but you are too broken down to continue in service….
Oh, yay! Glad it fit and hope you enjoy it! Reminds me of my 1st NYC apt in Queens, where the new couch could not fit through the door, even after removing the door. It got sent back. Live and learn moment cuz that wasn’t even a consideration selecting a couch back then.
Hurray for your new couch arriving and fitting in the door!
HI all, SOTD is Hermes vintage Amazone. Happy almost Friday! 🙂
You smell fruitily elegant 🙂 and the rose in it is so lovely, too vintage Amazone is definitely my latest love.
Aurora, it’s in my top 10 for sure. I was recently able to snap up a backup for under $100. 🙂
I love vintage Amazone! I am lucky to have some and think it is just perfect classic green.
Wearing some White Linen today. I really love the crisp brightness and the fizzy aldehydes in this one.
Shalimar again. Just because it comforts me.
Mini movie review for A Star is Born: Even if you don’t particularly care about the cast themselves, it is a beautifully acted and directed movie and the music is soooo good. The acting was so wonderful- so much so that the depiction of substance abuse was painful for me to watch part of the time because it mirrored someone from my past who acted almost just like that character. Just a beautiful, well done, truthful movie.
Thanks. I’m interested in it since the reviews are so strong. Tom and Lorenzo (fashion bloggers) also gave it a rave this morning.
Glad it didn’t disappoint and thank you for this review.
Thanks for that review. I too find it difficult to watch substance abuse in screen, especially drinking. May see that next week….
Thanks, sounds good! It’ll go on the list.
You smell great, and thank you for this review! When you mentioned the movie yesterday I looked it up and asked some friends to see it this weekend – because I live under a rock, I hadn’t heard about this movie before your post. there appears to be 3 previous versions – I started watching the first last night – the one from 1937 with Janet Gaynor and Frederic March. I also did a deep-ish dive into Bradley Cooper, who grew up not too far away from where I live now. I love that he learned French in college, to the extent that he’s able to take interviews in French.
???????????? ????????????????
Let me know what you think if you go watch it!
Thank you KellyC!
Sotd is Superstitious. I smell glorious! My son is a very picky eater, and for 16 years would not try a cinnamon roll. Last month I brought some home with a ton of icing. As I was eating one, he says uh… what is that? I looked him right in the eye and said it’s a donut, would you like one? He said ok, ate one, and declared it to be good. Ha! Of course I then told him it was a cinnamon roll. ????
I LOVE this so much!!????????
I meant the story, but I also ❤️ your sotd! You smell fantastic!
Thank you!
Haha, that’s cute! What’d he say?
He smirked and said he couldn’t believe he actually ate a cinnamon roll! I’m thrilled because now I have an excuse to buy them more often.
???? You’re a fine mom!
Nicely done! ???? Phooey, no cinnamon bun emoji, so a donut will have to do.
My brother insisted he hated onions when he was a kid. So my mom would just tell him they were celery if he asked about something in his dinner. The best part? For one of his birthdays he requested “French Celery Soup”.
This is hilarious!????
Yup ????????
I really laughed about “French Celery Soup”!
That is hysterical.
I like tacos! I appreciate vodka! But if only I were in Sweden.
Chergui today, because today’s high (71) seems almost fall-like.
Still super frustrated with things at work. I keep meaning to leave early in a fit of pique, but I keep having too much work. Ugh.
You smell wonderful! Can’t wait to break out the Chergui.
You know, I actually like it a lot in summer, too. You should try it! It just blooms in a whole new way!
You do smell really good.
Why thank you! And in fact I still do! About 10 h after application 🙂
Tacos and vodka are two of my favorite food groups. 😛 Just kidding…but mainly because I prefer whiskey or tequila over vodka ha!
You smell super great!
Hahaha. I had the same thought! If it were Scotch Day, now THERE’S something worth celebrating.
In honor of morning beverages, and courtesy of Oakland Fresca, my SOTM is Earl Grey, by Angela Flanders. Lots of spice, and lemony. It makes me feel a little more chipper, which is nice.
Nice, wish I could pop in her store and try it!
I’m wearing Sensuous Noir, which I had been hoarding since my bottle was so low, but I just found/bought a used bottle on ebay. It only got 2 stars in the new guide, but I declare them wrong 🙂
I like it. I tried it and thought it was kind of plastic, but it softened and became quite nice. You’re reminding me I need to pull that out more. I got mine at TJ Maxx..
Funny timing, as I was just this morning reading your reviews of the Sensuous perfumes on Bois de Jasmin. I’ve definitely never smelled Sensuous Noir and can’t recall if I’ve smelled both the original and Nude or just one of them. I’d like to do a comparison of all three.
I went to the gym this morning and forgot to take any perfume with me, so I’m scent-less. But I wanted to recommend the new (?) Lush Ectoplasm shower gel: it looks neon green, so might not necessarily be something sophisticated people like you gravitate towards, but it has a really nice sweet citrus (grapefruit, tangerine and mandarin, according to the web site) scent. It both feels and smells creamy and leaves the skin wonderfully soft.
Oh good do know!
Hopefully you’ll not find it horrible!
Neon green is excellent.
I really enjoy using it! It looks more yellow to me, but everybody else is convinced it’s green.
So I hate the one Lush Shower Cream I bought (Santa’s Christmas) but now of course wondering if I would like Ectoplasm anyway. I am such a sucker for Lush products.
I smelled it in the Lush shop in Antwerp the other day and really like the smell.
It is sort of neon yellow green, or green yellow.
In the glorious Slinky Carnation. I’ll be in NY on Wed 10/10 (with Hajusuuri) and Th 10/11 if anyone wants to hang out and sniff it
I DEFINITELY want to sniff it and am bummed I’m nowhere near NY!
So, I know this bottle of Slinky Carnation was fabulously pricy, but can you get more of it for a more modest amount of money, now that the work of designing the perfume is over?
Probably. I was thinking of finding out how much just a bottle of Lounging Around (version B) edp would be, without the extrait and body butter that came with Slinky Carnation. I’ve only had it less than a month so I’m nowhere near having to worry about getting a refill. If you’re ever in Boston, drop me a line if you want to sniff it (Screen name is yahoo address)
Oh I’d love to, so I definitely will! It’s been a while since I’ve been to Boston, which just happens to be my favorite American city, so I really owe it to myself to visit! Maybe in May, for those couple weeks of good weather 🙂
Wednesday sounds good for me, if it’s after 4:30. I’m hankering to sniff your one-of-a-kind perfume!
SOTD = Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue
I was inspired by Robin wearing it 3 days in a row. I do love it! It’s probably the only perfume I asked for the biggest size available.
Yesterday, I got a text from X bank saying my account was locked and a 2nd text where I have to tap to open. I di not have an account at X Bank but my mom does. Always wary of phishing / scams, I did not tap the 2nd text. I called the bank as soon as I got home and the CSR asked from where I received the text. I rattled it off, including 10-digit number. The CSR then said I should delete the texts because texts from X Bank only comes from a 6-digit code. Lesson learned – follow up on messages, but do not be too quick to follow instructions. Do not click on links or images in text messages unless you are expecting such things.
On a different but related note, companies have gotten so sophisticated that they can spoof an area code and local code to make it look like someone from your township is calling you. I never answer these calls. If they are important enough, they will leave a message.
I’m the same way. If I don’t know who it is, I won’t answer. It’s very bothersome though.
And they all seem to call between 8 and 9pm!
Twins!! Such a perfect scent this time of year.
Last week I received a call with an Australian calling code, claiming to be from the IRS; telling me that unless I sent X dollars to them I was going to jail.
I am Canadian 😛 😛
Ha! My husband just got a phishing voice mail saying his social security payments had been cut off and to call back to avoid « disciplinary action ». WTH? These scammers are so crazy.
Yay twins! That’s funny about the IRS
I have been flooded with these calls. It makes me nuts even though I never answer the phone.
I wish my phone has an automatic answer to these calls that returns the shrill buzzing of a fax machine…too bad many of these calls are robo calls.
Those calls drive me nuts! Especially during the day when I’m trying to sleep.
The nerve!
I never answer unless I recognize the number. Those phishing scams are bad, glad you are smart and vigilant about it.
I am always afraid that simply accidentally hovering over a link will be taken as a pseudo click!
Yeah, I love the calls from my area code and local code. Got a voicemail from someone looking for Tiffany yesterday, but the call back number didn’t match the number it came from. I’ve been nice in the past to let them know they got a wrong number, but this time I decided it was likely a scam.
o hai, yah i was expecting that call, lol! 😀
I was once enmeshed in a text storm about a class reunion – wrong school and very wrong age!
Yeah, those calls are annoying. I get fairly frequent calls from what look like variations of my own phone #!
My mom called back one of the numbers and got a “this number has been disconnected” message.
That has been the worst for me lately. When I see an area code from my previous state/city, I assume it’s important so I answer only to realize it’s a mistake, that it’s a sales call or whatever. So frustrating!
And you smell great, btw.
Thank you. Wearing it makes me feel like I’m glowing.
Bleah on those phone calls! I have specific ring tones for doctors, the vet, the dentist, and relatives. If my phone is chiming on its default ringer, that tells me that the call is probably not worth picking up 99% of the time. And like you said, if it is important, whoever it is will leave a message.
That’s smart about the ring tones. I’m too lazy to set it up. Plus, I get calls so infrequently that any change probably won’t make a difference.
Glad to see the Absolue love!
Verizon has only very recently started adding a “spam” indicator on our landline phone, which is very helpful although I rarely say anything when I answer to an unknown number anyway.
Sometimes I pick up the phone and just stay silent. 9 out of 10 times, I hear a click and then a dial tone. Good riddance.
Wearing tocca stella today, and drinking “cranberry vanilla wonderland” tea. This is the only perfume I’ve ever been complimented on!
The compliments I get are so random – I think I’ve worn EL’s Pleasures only three times and gotten a compliment from a stranger each time. And I don’t even like it that much!
I’ve never tried Stella, only Colette and Brigitte. How do you like Stella?
I really like it! I went and sprayed some more on so I could give you a fresh perspective. I’ve never bought it, since they seem to hand out samples of it all the time, but I would. Its like the citrus sweetness of navel orange pulp, with white musk underneath.
Thanks! I’ll have to give it a sniff. I love those Tocca bottles.
Late again! I got a lot done yesterday despite getting up so late.
Also, for people who are addicted to lippies- I have fallen in love with Revlon cushion kiss lip stains. They’re cheap and wonderful. I’ll be picking up a few more colors today. I have naughty mauve and it’s the perfect “my lips but better” shade for my coloring.
Perfume of the day is SmellBent Smoked Ambergris. Wonderful on a cloudy cool day like today. We’re off for bagel and cofffe! Happy Almost Friday Day to all!
Now I’ve got a lipstick lemming!
I’m always after a lippie rec – currently I steal my kids’ bebe lipcrayon, which is pretty but lasts kissing time. Will look this up in a minute!
Also: as I was walking out to my van, I had a close encounter with World Animal Day. I was heading to the office to pick up my mail, and as I was descending the stairs, I saw a huge black blur woosh by my apartment building. The complex is in a very busy business district with 6 lane streets in all sides. I called to the huge black blur, and it did an about face and bounded up the stairs at me. It was a beautiful Shepard mix, about 6 months old, gangly and goofy, no tags, no chip, no collar, not neutered. Long story short, I got a leash on him, took him to the office, and was told he did not belong to any renter. Called animal control, which I was told is a “no kill” county shelter here in Reno, and off he went. 3 people in the office were dithering about keeping him, and one girl did get his number so she could follow up to see if anyone claimed him. Gorgeous dog, great temperament, just needed food, love, and a bit of training. Can’t believe he hadn’t got run over by a car. I guess it’s a good thing I woke up late????????
Here’s a photo of him
https://www.instagram.com/p/BohYHmbnlfo/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=bxynz2qlx0sw
You’re a good soul, Deva. He is gorgeous and I so wish for a happy ending.
Aww, I’m glad he found you!
Aww. What a lucky pooch to run into you. At least he’ll have regular meals and care at the animal shelter until he finds his forever home.
Oh- nice you could rescue him!
You’re such a nice lady. ????
????????????✌
Great job on catching and saving that poor pooch!
Kudos for saving the doggie!
Good job! What a sweetie!
Awww, I love a happy ending animal story ???? Thanks for your care!
If I lived anywhere near Reno he would be coming home with me. What a cutie!! Thanks for helping him.
Well done on getting the dog out of harm’s way! 6 lanes of traffic is no joke.
I really don’t know how he got here. There no close residential area and the traffic around this complex is ridiculous. If I didn’t live out of a van most of the year, I would have kept him. Super sweet dog.
Thank you for taking care of such an innocent and abandoned creature. I hope he gets a new loving home soon.
Good job you, Deva!
Always appreciate a good lippie recommendation! Thanks!
Yesterday was my birthday and my husband got me a Le Labo sampler set to celebrate. I tried the much-hyped Santal last night and while I liked it I much prefer Tam Dao. Today I’m trying the Rose and really enjoying it. They included a sample of Rose scented detergent as well – will try that out soon!
Happy birthday, late! Is that the Baie Rose? I hope you find one you love in that set. Nice gift!
It’s Rose 31 – I get A LOT of cumin, which I love.
I liked Rose 31 too. And happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!!
Happy birthday, enjoy your LL sampler.
Happy birthday! Nice gift!
Happy birthday and have fun sampling. Funny, I disliked Rose 31 for the same reason you love it.
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy belated birthday & enjoy your sniffs!
Happy Bday!!!
Happy Birthday! Nice gift and hope you enjoy the sampling. Do report back on the detergent! I like Rose 31, but didn’t love the body products (hotel amenities someone sent me). All I could smell was the synthetic woody/amber lingering.
Happy birthday! Have fun sniffing your way through the set.
Happy birthday! Enjoy your sampler!
Happy Belated & Well-scented Birthday! What a great gift! ????????????
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday, nicolasix!
Today I’m in new from Mona di Orio, Santal Nabataea
Like? I really love it.
It’s lovely indeed. I got my sample in the summer and wasn’t a fan back then but now that the weather got colder I like it a lot, it’s more suitable for now.
Oh, I need to add it to my sample list.
Thanks to people who gave me well wishes for my dentist’s visit yesterday. It wasn’t TOO bad. After long neglecting my teeth, I found a dentist who is caring and kind, and I even can get valium for major things! It’s scary for me due to a previous real trauma at the hands of the evil man dentist. Now I will only go to a woman dentist (smaller hands). SOTD is Zoologist Elephant, kind of at random. It’s one I disliked at first but when you’ve had it on awhile it does morph and is more gentle and almost sweet, and intriguing. I’m going out soon for lunch at the Menil Bistro and to visit the just-recently-reopened Menil Collection here in Houston–it was closed almost a year I think for restoration/renovation. Can’t wait to see the new installations. It’s still grotesquely hot and humid here–high 90 today. Ugh.
So glad it went well, Calypso, I went not long ago for a tiny chip on a tooth, I can say I treasure my lady dentist and wouldn’t change for the world.
A kind, thoughtful dentist is the best.
I have similar dentist issues, but once i found one i trust (mine is male, but so pleasant, considerate, smart and skilled) i wont go elsewhere. Been seeing him since 2001! Back then he would loan you his ipod so you could listen to music instead of that hirrible drill sound. He does sedation too, which makes the world of difference!
It’s a great feeling to be on top of your dental health, with minimal fear 🙂
Happy to hear that things went well for you yesterday. I have a great dentist, and agree that it makes a world of difference.
In OJ Tolu, from a sample. It’s pretty nice, a like for sure, but perhaps not a love. Does it have a cardamon note? I feel like it does. My daughter b-day today, which meant that she slept little and has been on an anticipation high for the past week – oh the days when our birthdays were such glorious occasions for us!
I wore my Tolu sample for awhile, then I realized that I must have a bottle. OJ usually has a good Black Friday sale and now they make small, 30 ml or so bottles. Happy Birthday to your daughter! ????
Black Friday – good to know, thanks for the tip!
I love Tolu – it is very lush and potent! I know what you mean about that cardamom… there is something in there a bit different. I only have a decant, but I treasure it to wear
for very cold, dreary weather.
I love Tolu and think you smell wonderful! And happy birthday to your daughter.
Best wishes to your daughter for her special day! ????????
Odalisque!❤️
Nice, almost never see that one mentioned anymore!
????
You smell great! I ❤Odalisque, too.
Thank you!
You’re having a Prada week, Robin, I don’t know if you also like l’Eau Ambree.
Inspired by Undina and Teainthegarden I am wearing Yves Rocher today, Folies de Saisons Delires d’Automne so very appropriate for October. I picked this up for the proverbial song and it is a balsamic, vanillic, spicy little number, if you come across it don’t overlook it, it really is good.
Yes, I do! And would probably wear that this week but have something else planned for tomorrow.
In a sample of Le Labo yang 49.. cold rainy day here in Jackson Hole and this is a perfect perfume for today. I’m getting a very chic retro green chypre vibe
Lovely!
I love Ylang. You smell great!
Picking a scent for my current weather is like trying to choose clothes between seasons. I went with Equistrius because it works for me in any season. Another gray humid day. I miss the sun and am very tired of this weather. I want fall.
Great choice! I think that one works almost anytime.
I think Equistrius is very versatile and very lovely!
I’ve started to get little pops of fall in between the weird summer-ish weather that is still hanging on. Maybe they will be headed your way soon?
Ugh, I hope so. It’s so humid and the constant drear is wearing. A lot of people are sick with respiratory issues and the flu.
We’re supposed to have fallish weather tomorrow and even some sun! I just wish that it would last but the forecast looks like more of the same for next week.
Today I am wearing vintage Mitsouko extrait. When Mitsouko is right, it is the best thing ever. I’ve just wanted to wear Mitsouko or vetiver e/o, or No 19, for the past few weeks. The weird weather has messed up my fragrance habits big time.
Nice to see you ! ????????
🙂
This sounds wonderful (the scent, not the weather).
Vintage Mitsouko extrait sounds like it would be gorgeous.
Infusion d’iris, as usual. Parallel universe would be Hermes eau des merveilles. Or maybe the ambree one.
Last night i pulled out shalimar edt for the first time this fall. Hurray!!
Yay Shalimar and fall!!!
I’m wearing my 1st purchase of the new quarter ????: Atrium perfume oil by Cavern NY-locally “grown”. They sell it in a coffee place in my hood that also sells fancy plants, fancy tea, ceramics, candles, body products etc. The woman ahead of me was buying a mini potted pineapple plant!
Anyway, it’s a little warm for this scent today but it’s fairly soft and low projection so it’s working out.
Tobacco, iris, sandalwood, cedar, vanilla. Smells a bit campfire smoky with a lightly sweet edge mingled with a bit of wood. This will be very cozy if cool weather ever shows up!
Sounds nice! But I’m confused about the pineapple plant…can’t imagine she will transplanting it this time of year????
Yeah, I wasn’t sure about it either. I think it was meant to stay indoors?
And I meant to add cardamom to the list of notes, adding to its deliciousness!
That coffee place sounds right up my alley.
It’s a cute little place and the coffee is good, too. As are their donuts. I went in innocently for coffee and came out with perfume! Dangerous, lol.
Stores with interesting or unusual tea selections are dangerous to my wallet! But I love going in them anyway.
The tea brand they sell is called Belloq which has a brick n mortar place a few blocks away. The website is visually beautiful and almost makes me want to drink tea!
Wow, your perfume sounds good!
I really like it! I almost bought the candle also…
2nd that! And if it came with a decent cup of coffee all the better.
I’m wearing Eau des Mervielles today and wondering why I ever wear anything else. It smells just perfect. Whoever coined the phrase “platonic ideal of me” for perfume was right on.
I agree that it is quite perfect. So glad you are enjoying it today!
That sounds like a scent that should be one of your “no brainer” perfumes.
Koyel coined it and it sounds like it will also be a CP at some point.. You smell good!
Wearing my favourite lavender L´Impacte de Pour un Homme, soft as a kitten and just plain lovely,
You smell like austenfan????
Late as usual! I wore Un Air de Bretagne from a swap meet decant, but I can’t smell it on me anymore. I do like it, but I probably won’t seek out more after this little decant is gone.
Last night I tested PdN Cap Neroli and Neroli Intense. Cap Neroli reminds me of Tocca Stella, and I already have a bottle of Stella. I liked Neroli Intense, but I didn’t find it to be intense, at least not from the dabber sample. I’ll have to try it another couple times to figure out if I need more than my sample.
It’s been an uneventful and quiet Thursday. I’m appreciating uneventful and quiet a lot! ????
SOTD = Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt, from a lovely NSTer. This one is a lot closer to the skin than I expected it to be. Curiouser and curiouser.
Uneventful equals a good day, in my book too! ????
It felt great!
You smell good! And in my book, uneventful and quiet is heaven. I’m relishing every quiet moment before my MIL and her friend arrive Saturday.
Her friend is staying with you too?!
Yes, yes she is. ???? She hasn’t really ever traveled much and is scared to fly by herself so her best friend is coming with her.
Thanks, KellyC! I hope that your visitors keep things calm and quiet. ????
WS&SS is perfect for this not so hot humid day.
I was definitely surprised by the humidity level outside today.
