A Tuesday that feels just like a Monday, plus, I overslept again — must be Monday's ugly little sister! It’s also Wildlife Day and Beyoncé’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: Imaginary Authors An Air of Despair, again. Tea at the moment is an organic English Breakfast.
Reminder: on 9/7, wear a fragrance with cedar, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Alpha cedar teacups are ¥8,640 each at Generate in Japan.
Hi all! Wearing the lovely Eau de Gentiane Blanche today, one of my favorite “colognes.” My co-worker once said, “You smell like vegetables,” to which I responded, “Aw, thank you!” He didn’t mean it meanly, of course.
Now a side question for you: has anyone bought from perfumeking.net? I found that they have a harder-to-find perfume for a reasonable price as I was reading my Google results last night. I would have already placed my order but I’ve seriously never heard of them. The site looks legitimate, but I’m still hesitant. What do y’all think?
Oh, and I adore those teacups!!
Aren’t those cute? Plus, if I understand the translation they’re advertised as light enough for even old people to lift to their mouths
I love them! They would perfectly match my Nakashima for Knoll tray that is by far the nicest home good I own. I love the straight grain.
Those are beautiful! I want the table.
Love Eau de Gentiane Blanche! Light, airy, not too sweet. Don’t see it mentioned much so glad to find another fan.
It’s lovely stuff, cooling without smelling of citrus. I tend to feel that should I want to smell of a citrus fruit, I would peel one.
I don’t know the site. If it’s newer perfumes priced lower than anywhere else, I might worry they are fake. But for discontinued/reformulated ones, unmapped perfume backwaters are ideal!
I think it’s the former. Maybe it would be worth the $5.95 to get a Visa prepaid card and test it, though.
I mean latter. :p
Never heard of perfumeking, net either, sorry!
Tenue de Soiree
French press coffee with steamed milk
Has anyone tried the essential perfume line they are selling at lucky scent?I ordered the discovery set.
I haven’t posted in a little bit.Hope everyone is well. I just got back yesterday from visiting a country with a extremely good looking prime minister.
How was England?
Excellent.
You think Theresa May is hot?
Her dance moves are.????
*cackles with laughter*
????
Bear, I have missed you and your gentle wit!
????????????✌
Welcome back! How was Canada?
I have been tempted by that discovery set. You will have to report back!
I will report back! I was hoping someone here has already sniffed them
Hope you enjoyed your visit to Canada.
If I had it my way, I would spend the majority of my summers in Canada (and a week or two somewhere else in the world)
Everyone is so friendly which makes it easier when you are traveling with two toddlers.
So how was Canada?
Welcome back and hope you had a great trip! Any new goodies come back with you?
And I bet along with that handsome dude were some handsome cooler temperatures. I’m doubly jelly…!
Canada was great, and like Deva mentioned in Quebec city and Montreal there were cooler temperatures in the morning followed by warm afternoons. Toronto was just hot.
I did go to the Manolo exhibit at the shoe museum. Lots of fun!
I am sad I didn’t get my selfie with Mr Justin Trudeau….didn’t he know I was coming!?! Sheesh…
I love Montreal and Quebec City! Glad you enjoyed yourself. But BOO!!! on no selfie with Mr. Trudeau!!
I know! I tried last summer too…
I feel so bad for him that he missed his chance again with me
Haha!He is a hansome fella
Hansome with a D of course…????????♂️????????♂️????????????????♂️
Welcome back, LTSG!
From the Les Eaux de Chanel collection, I picked Biarritz.
Whipping up some food for my nephew who is new in town to finish his senior year of college.
Go nephew, and good for you for providing some of the calories necessary
Wearing Lush Dear John Body Spray. While I do not think of it as a cedar scent, it is definitely woody and cedarwood oil is in the list of ingredients.
Wow those cups! I think I would worry they would make my tea taste different though. I suppose I’ll have to pass on buying them.
Wearing Black Cashmere. It’s all wrong for today, but I shall endure somehow.
That was the same thought I had.
You smell wonderful, I’m saving mine for Friday, when it’s supposed to be cooler. Then again our local weather people have low balled the temperature for weeks!
Just got back from the dentist, a root canal and crown are in my future. I should be wearing An Air of Dispair, but I’m wearing Cristalle. I think I’m going to switch to Dune for work tonight.
So sorry lillyjo!
Thank you!
Sorry to hear that.
But you smell great!
Thank you!
Oh no!! I feel your pain-literally- I went through the same thing last fall and I think I still have ptsd when I go to the dentist. (I’m not kidding)
At least our sun has returned today, hope yours has too!????
Very sunny today after so much rain!
Poor you! My husband is going through that right now.
Teeth problems are the worst, and so expensive! Sorry to hear your husband has the same problem.
Oh, so sorry. Went through that last December. The worst part is how expensive it is to go through something unpleasant (not awful…just not fun). But it does fix things…
Cristalle is beautiful.
I think your right about the worst part being the expense.
Oh, so sorry! Tooth stuff is the worst – then again, I do enjoy chewing, so there you go. It’s most painful in the wallet these days.
Ugh. An Air of Despair would be appropriate.
You smell great, lillyjo!
I empathize with you.
You are strong.
????????
❤????
There’s nothing you can’t face. Think about the results! You smell awesome today!
Thank you, I did smell pretty awesome. I havnt worn Cristalle in awhile and it was around 90 degrees.
Yikes! So sorry for your tooth and you pocketbook!
Cristalle is wonderful. Sorry about your teeth!
ugh I can’t stand the dentist. Sorry you have to have some work done!
Urgh….Sorry about your future dental drama…been there done that got the crown(s)!!
Cristalle is a spine-strengthening perfume under such circumstances, allright!Lol
Beautiful.
X
So sorry to hear about the dentist visit. At least you smell fabulous.
Oy vey! I went through a root canal, too. I hope that you will have an easy procedure with minimal discomfort. It IS quite the hit to the wallet, though.
That’s just it, the wallet. I’ve had so much dental work in my lifetime, I could have probably bought a new car.
Ouch! I hope you get these resolved soon!
Thanks, I was so upset, I told them to just mail me the details.
Thanks everyone for always being so great!
Wearing a decant of Profumum Meringa (THUNK!) courtesy of a lovely NSTer.
Congrats on the thunk! Why do I think that at got my Meringa decant from you?
I thought the same, purchased my Meringa decant from cazaubon.
I’m in Penhaligon’s Sartorial today, mostly because I had a craving for it, but turns out it has cedar in the base notes, so it fits the CP too!
Today’s tea: Darjeeling with vanilla almondmilk and a splash of orange flower water.
I’m trying out orange flower water for the first time and would love suggestions on how to use it. Anybody have any favorites?
(Also getting my inspiration from Bois de Jasmin: https://boisdejasmin.com/2013/07/10-ways-to-use-orange-blossom-water-perfume-beauty-cooking-recipes.html)
Do you bake, holyneroli? If so, I have heard of orange flower water being used as a flavoring in things like pound cake.
I’m not much of a baker, but that does sound tempting.
I bought a bottle to use with cocktails, but it’s just sitting there waiting
Trying to remember how I used up a bottle… with Greek yogurt and honey is good.
Ooh! Fantastic idea
Sampling Ancients from Hi Wildflower which is a cool shady forest scent that lists Atlas cedar among its notes. Pretty sure that this is the closest I’ll get to the project this week since I’ll probably be unscented for the next few days (including buying a travel size of unscented Dr Bronner’s soap) to prep for my custom perfume experience on Friday. Woot! Woot! Woot! Cedar isn’t one of my favorite notes, so it probably won’t be in my custom blend either
Exciting! I know Tanwi has a sale going on right now, too.
Was pretty much on a no buy this quarter so that I’ll have the funds for my custom DSH perfume for my 50th birthday
Wow, it’ll be interesting to hear all about it and how she goes about as well as what your part is, and, then of course, how it all turns out!
Errand day on a cool-humid weird Tuesday morning. Need a standardizing frag as such, so imma dose with some Tobacco Rose by Papillon Perfumes today because it’s vivacious without being dramatic, a great dry rose.
You smell great. Tobacco Rose is the rose that made me reconsider roses.
Thank you! It’s so good, isn’t it?
But seeing your screen name makes me want to reach for my Cap Neroli by Nicolai now, hmmm….
DO IT!
I find it really good for layering too. I never get compliments, but I did when I put this over the remains of some Niki de Saint Phalle.
I used to have a TR sample (the stuff is so strong that I was able to stretch a single sample for months) and found that it layers nicely with musks and vanillas, especially.
Cool, humid, weird Tuesday is the perfect backdrop for Tobacco Rose. You smell great!
I’m wearing vintage Guerlain Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat, a bright, citrussy EDT with a brisk, mineral drydown. Great lasting power, moderate sillage for an EDT, and good if you’re feeling blah.
Haven’t posted for a while since I’ve been on a self-imposed perfume moratorium because of budget concerns. But just used some Sephora points for a travel decant of Atelier Cologne Iris Rebelle and a sample set of the Commodity line. I do like IR, although after I read an NST review mentioned that it smells like carrots now I smell carrots. But that’s not a bad thing….
No, carrots is a good thing!
I only have one perfume with cedarwood, Ortigia Fico d’India. And Basenotes literally lists two notes: fig and cedarwood!
That works then! (And is it a great fig? I have never tried it.)
Really tired and stressed right now. My mother had told me last night that my dad had a doctor’s appointment this morning and I will be an hour late to work due to car issues. She said to call in to work and say that I won’t be in but I cannot afford to do that. So found a ride to work. I am wearing no 19 again. I want to wear Shalimar but I think I will wear it tonight for comfort.
Hope things improve for you soon. When I have a hard day, I love to come home and waft a giant cloud of Shalimar, it really is great for comfort
(((hugs))) Hope the Shalimar comforts you. It always works for me.
I sympathize with you Dawn, I hope it all works out ok.
Chin up Dawn!
Come find your peace at NST.
❤️✌????
Hugs to you. That sort of thing is not a good way to start the day.
I hope that your day got better Dawn! Hugs.
I’m CP compliant in SSS Incense Pure. Besides having a cedar note, it’s nice and calming which I appreciate since I had to (reluctantly) come back to work today after a three day weekend.
Oh perfect, and I could wear that this week too.
Hey all!
1) Summer is NOT done yet, so am in Cap Neroli. This was a great scent to have all summer, especially with baking heat we had.
2) The project that I have been a part of is now a fait accompli- the database migration and new interface will be online next week. I expect everything to break and lots of people to freak out despite of maybe because they were told about the change. But it will be done and I will be able to move on with a substantial project on my resume, in additional to practically running a lab.
3) I might buy a car.
Congrats on the project and do tell on the car!
1) I am really proud to have been part of this project- it is a real feather in the cap for me and it is the culmination of a push that the company needed in this sector.
2) I am thinking about gas mileage and efficiency so I am looking at Prius/Leaf cars. A solid German car would be nice but fuel efficiency for ME reigns over all considerations.
#2 – spoken like a true Portlander! My SIL drives one. As to a solid German car, my brother’s past few cars had been certified pre-owned (low mileage, longer warranty and a fraction of the cost of a new car of the same type).
Woo, go Ede97005! Getting it done, and done right deserves a reward.
Wearing Zoologist Macque today which has cedar listed in the notes although I can’t really pick it out. It’s more sooty galbanum but it smells good on another hot steamy day.
I just answered your question on yesterday’s poll, so in case you don’t see it, will tell you here also that I want to try Sundrunk but have not yet! I am crazy behind this year.
I decided a couple years ago that I would pick a few independent perfumeries and follow them, and see if anyone mentions anything else that sounds appealing and affordable. It started to feel like my “hobby” was stressing me out, this has worked pretty well.
Oh good!
I have mostly sat out new releases this year, and while the stress was from elsewhere, I did find it peaceful to not worry about keeping up. It’s really easy to get burned out if you feel like you have to smell everything or you’ll miss something great.
Channeling a vampy ’20s movie star, I am wearing Habanita. Alas, I’m not wearing a satin gown, but a pair of jeans and a stretched-out sweater.
I actually love to pair a “fancy” scent with laid back clothes.
Ditto this.
Tritto!
What a great word!
Totally.Makes perfect sense!I ist cleaned my bathroom in Shalimar Parfum Initial. As one do.????✌????❤️
????
Good pick Foxbins. I wore that (THUNK) yesterday!
It was perfect even w/ this heat, and one of the few that doesn’t disappear quickly…..now I think I need more.
But I must confess I blind bought SL’s Participe passate and my first wear was NOT encouraging…. all cumin all day. It may have bumped up against some cap Nèroli so I will try again tomorrow….. ugh.
.
The sun has returned today after too much rain lately. It’s amazing what a profound effect it has on my mood.???? On days like this I find myself reaching for EdM, because it matches the weather and my good mood.
I was excited to see a trailer for the 3rd season of The Durrells in Corfu last night. Is it sad that I am looking forward to a television show on PBS? Lol. I don’t even care. I love that show.
Hey, I’m with you on the PBS anticipation, but in my case it’s for the new season of Poldark!
PBS is the best! I haven’t watched that series, but I’m sure I will eventually.
PBS is the best channel on TV. Or streamed on your phone if you don’t have a tv. I must be last person on earth with no TV and not on Facebook. I’m such a rebel ????
How was your night shift(s)? Have you started or are you blessedly done with them?
PBS is without a doubt our favorite television. We haven’t had cable in over 20 years, but we have an appletv and can stream Netflix, prime and PBS.
I’m not on Facebook either!???? My unit actually has their own Facebook page and I hear all about the drama that goes on and I just don’t need that in my life. I love my job-most days- and my co-workers, but when I leave work, I leave work. Besides, my son told me a few years ago that Facebook is for “old people.” Lol. He helped me create an Instagram account instead.
My night shift is in a couple of weeks. It’s just one, so I really shouldn’t complain but I haven’t done one in forever! I can remember how I hit the wall around 3am…ugh.
I LOOOOOVE that show! I had not seen a trailer for the 3rd season so I sincerely appreciate the PSA. If it’s sad you’re looking forward to a tv show on PBS, then I’m right there with you haha.
You smell great, btw.
I knew they were filming a third season but just happened to stumble upon the trailer last night. I literally gasped. Lol. I love that show too! Here it starts Sept. 30, so be on the lookout.????
EdM always hits the spot, thank you!
you smell fabulous! I love the Durrells and PBS, thanks for the PSA.
That show is hilarious!
PBS!!! ???????? My current PBS favorite is “No Passport Required” with Marcus Samuelsson. Great food, a lot of deep talk about immigration – it’s one of the best shows I’ve watched in a long, long time.
I should set some reminders for that one. The promos looked interesting, and your comments are making it more so.
If it is sad, I am sad right along with you. (And my family is streaming the latest Great British Baking Show this week, which is arguably even sadder than the Durrells. We love it. The Durrells, I have to watch by myself.)
Probably not the day for it, but I put on SL Feminite du Bois for its pencil shavings. I have held on to this decant for a few years now. Sometimes I love it, and sometimes it grates on me. I out on so little today that neither is happening.
I did a little side-by-side with Satori. Satori reminds me a bit of FdB, but a smoother, mellower, less sweet version. It would be my perfect version if it weren’t so fleeting and expensive.
Yep, has to swap out my bottle of FdB because it grates on me. Total hamster cage…
Ha! Actually, it’s the hamster cage part I like. It’s the Cinnamon Red Hots that grates on me after a while.
Oh wow, FdB is a cedar bomb on me. Plus, I sometimes have a hard time with plum notes. To my nose, Satori is completely different.
I think I tend to notice the part that bothers me the most, which is the cinnamon. I have the same problem with Fate which smells like Atomic Fireballs to me. I could be totally off with Satori, but I got some similarities in the side by side.
Atomic Fireballs! I used to love those as a kid.
I bow to your vastly superior sense of smell. I only have a tiny amount left in a decant. I wish someone would split it.
I’m also liking my sample of Aroma M Vanilla Hinoki. I’ve been dabbing it on at night and it’s so cozy. I think you have the oil format? Just curious why you chose oil over EDP? If you don’t mind my asking?
Petunia, I have a sample of Fate that I could send your way if you’d like.
Thank you Jalapeno but I’ve tried Fate. It was not a love. ????
A hard morning for my kindergartener. ????
I am comparing Arielle Shoshana and Ylang 49 today…and AS is winning methinks.
Oh no! I hope she gets through unscathed!
She-ra, I have another shampoo and conditioner recommendation if you want to still smell it in your hair through the day – Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures. It is on the opposite end of the price spectrum as Iles. ???? I had previously only used the shampoo with unscented conditioner and couldn’t still smell it after blow drying. But now I’ve just used the shampoo and conditioner together, and my hair is still scented with it.
Oooh. Thanks for intel. I will pick these up.
I’m in a cloud of Agonist Nordic Noir, which has white cedar listed among its notes. Nordic Noir suits our continuing rainy, gloomy weather.
Sorry about the gloom!
A very happy birthday to Queen Bey! I’m not nearly as big a fan as most of my singing friends are, but her talent is absolutely undeniable.
Not following the CP today in the last of my Le Labo Ylang 49
sad to finish my sample, but not sad enough to go through the freshly bottled nonsense of Le Labo. Oh well, there are plenty of other scents in the sample sea.
You can join a Basenotes split. I’ve participated in Monica’s splits and have had no issues.
Thanks for the tip! It’s good to hear you had a good experience
More like experienceS ????
+ 1 for Monica. She runs great splits.
Love the teacups. SOTD – Hans Hensley Amora. No cedar for me today…
Yum. You smell great!
Started my day with Grossmith’s Shem el-Nessim, and now just topped up the last whispers of that with her sister L’heure Bleue.
Shem el-Nessim is beautiful!
Not a huge fan of cedar in perfumes because I always smell like Eau de hamster cage…
Instead I’m in SSS Yin and Ylang. No hamster cage here! Just warm relaxed summer days… ????
Nice! And now there’s a perfume named after T-Rex!
I’m super excited abou tthe T-Rex perfume lol
I KNOW!! Plus the notes sound fantastic. I have yet to sample any from this line and now may be the time to do so.
Given the apparent major overlap between your perfume taste and mine, I’d recommend you try Civet. It’s the one Shelley Waddington did for Zoologist and it’s the one that I ended up going FB with… and I can’t wait to try the t-rex one.
Oh, good to know! I have and love Zelda and have tried a few others from her En Voyage line that I really like as well. I wonder if Zoologist has a discovery pack…????
Yes to Deva, they do.
Post shower now sporting Tauer PHI…????????????????❣️????????????❤️????????????????
❤️❤️❤️PHI IS A BEAUTIFUL ????!
I initially read it as “snorting PHI”. What in the world? ????????????
LOL!! ????????????
I’m starting a new trend! ????
Summer is not over yet! We are facing another heat wave in the Big Apple.
Wearing Guerlain AA Pamplelune for a busy day and rest of the week working outdoors at one of the sites.
Be well everyone!
Keep cool, pfl67. I don’t know how you do it but You Go Girl!
Thank you Hajusuuri. I do not even know how I do it either, but I survived the day!
Stay cool!
I did! And even cooler now that I am at home! ????
Be well and stay hydrated! Smelling good there.
Thank you LizzieB! Lots of water and some salt helped greatly!
You smell positively BEAUTIFUL!
Enjoy your week M!✌????
Thank you Johanob! I hope you are getting enough rest now, after the busy day you had at work. Take care! ????????
Pamplelune is on my “Resniff” list. I’m trying to remember which grapefruit scent I have smelled that was so realistic I found myself wondering if I was going to get squirted. ???????? BTW, good job on making sure you got a bit of salt today.
Besides Pamplelune, it comes to my mind Terre D’hermes with a great grapefruit note. Also Atelier Cologne Pomelo Paradis and even Demeter Pink Grapefruit.
Ah, that was my wedding perfume, but I dropped the bottle on my bathroom floor about a year ago ???? Luckily my marriage is fine!
Wearing Quel Amour! today, I needed something cheerful and bright for the first day back to school early start.
I’ve just baked a Deliciously Ella sticky ginger cake, it’s very odd, but in a tasty way!
I love anything ginger…I’ll have to look that one up!
SOTD = Les Eaux de Chanel Paris – Deauville
Oh yes! I have a sample from Nordstrom. 12 anemic sprays from the equally anemic plastic atomizer. It is not long lasting … I can barely smell it now, but 100 mLs when I get the bottle.
The great purge – one last effort when I get home. The goal is within reach AND I know I have more to do in the coming months.
Smelled in the wild this morning – SJP Stash. Whomever wore it was on theme! I may wear this on Friday unless something else gets my attention. Any favorites from the crowd?
To those in Gordon’s path, stay safe!
I love when I smell perfume in the wild and Stash is a great one!
I do too! I wish Inwas better at identifying specific perfumes. I very rarely ask people what they’re wearing. I probably should compliment people more – one little sentence is all it takes for someone to go from Life Sucks to Life Rocks!
Ah..at least its not Santal 33, the official perfume of NYC
Trudat!
Hajusuuri, I read this blog from a yoga teacher that teaches at a retreat center I visit once in a while. Her latest blog post was on the NYC subway. I thought of you and your commuting stories. Here it is if you want to take a look: http://jurianhughes.com/from-august-2018-newsletter-a-ny-subway-love-affair/
Thanks for this. Quite beautiful, actually. I’ll remember this when I’m feeling vaguely homicidal on my commute. ????
Great article, thanks for posting. When I went to Chicago a few years ago, I rode the El for the first time, despite being born and raised a stones throw from the city. I loved it. I also loved the Metro when I went to Paris a million years ago. There is something about the constant shifting and rocking of the car that I find so relaxing and comforting.
You and I are so different, I get so anxious whenever I’m in motorized movement, even those relaxation massage chairs!
Oh, my anxieties are many, but rather odd. ????????♀️
Thanks for sharing this. If I tell you that I tried yoga twice and got stressed out, will it explain my intolerance? ????
My bff did exactly the same thing.
That is so funny!
Thanks for sharing the article. Very interesting. I think if we are more tolerant with our surroundings, we will probably be more relax. The NYC subway is not easy, but I will keep this in mind starting tomorrow. I am sure other people see the weird part of us that we do not realize.
Am I wrong in assuming that you picked up samples of all 3 Eaux from Nordies?
Yes. It’s the only B&M store where I have never ever gotten attitude when I ask for samples. Oh wait, Sephora in the U.S. also does not give attitude. That’s it.
I’m back in Sa Majeste la Rose today. Just got it yesterday from Koyel and I loved it so much last night I just sprayed it again today! Will hope to participate the rest of the week.
Tuesdays that feel like Mondays are the worst! Plus the weather here has been amazing. It’s 72 right now and no humidity and I want to be outside sooo bad. Boo!
I love Sa Majeste la Rose and also think it would smell great on a man
You smell lovely! I wore it over the weekend. Smells like a rose garden.
Love that description!
I got several drops on a tissue while cleaning up after the split. I put the tissue in with my bras and now they all smell lovely!
Nice idea to not let any of your perfume go unused!
Aliage. I need green and plenty of it. So, I also pulled out a sample and sprayed Selva Do Brazil on top.
Tuesday $5 movie this evening will be The Meg. We need something to counteract the seriousness of First Reforned, which we saw over the weekend. Massive hungry sharks will do.
I finally sniffed Alliage today for the first time. You smell great! You must like scary movies. Not sure how it compares to Jaws but I had nightmares for months after seeing it for the first time.
I enjoy some silly action movies. This is not Jaws. Silly, predictable – worth $5. My husband liked it better than I did…I got a bit bored.
Jaws is much, much scarier. I’m old enough to have seen it on the big screen when it was released. Then I saw it again a few years back on the big screen for the first time since then. It really is far better on the big screen. A very well paced movie. And scary. The Meg isn’t scary.
I love Aliage in the summer. Vintage is better than current.
Wearing Eau de Guerlain today, a mainstay of mine in summer, winter, and any time in-between. I never tire of this lovely scent.
Eau de Guerlain is great stuff. You smell fabulous!
2nd that!
I have a good array of cedar perfumes lined up for the week. Yesterday was a success in D.S. & Durga Freetrapper, a dry incense and cedar focused scent. Today I’m in Fiele Fragrances Cedrus, which is built around three kinds of cedar. I really like both of them and may dab on a little more Cedrus during my lunch break.
I wonder if the three kinds of cedar really smell very different from one another. Curious. I guess they must. Do you detect any “different” kinds of cedar notes in the perfume? I’d like to have a little set of testers that would reveal those variations.
No, it’s a very well blended perfume so I can’t smell different cedar notes. But I imagine I’d smell differences in the raw materials.
And damn, I forgot to bring my sample vial to lunch with me so I’ll have to reapply later.
The essential oils each smell different, but I’m not sure if it is as easy to smell the differences in perfume.
Freetrapper is great!
I’m in 24 Faubourg today, from a BUB that I really only bought because it came with an adorable mini that I gave to a friend who admired the scent. I would swear this bottle has more oakmoss (or whatever they put in that emulates oakmoss) than my mostly-but-not-quite-finished first bottle.
Sublime.You smell fantastic!
Oooooh your BUB of 24 Faubourg sounds gorgeous!
SotM = Iris Ukiyoe
Breathtaking. Every time I smell this it reminds me of how I felt when I first began to explore perfume again a few years ago. I think it was the first Hermessence I tried.
And it goes very well with afternoon yoga.
It smells like you’re channeling good vibes!
thanks, hajusuuri, I’m trying.
My mantra is
Keep it calm, keep it real.
Ooooh, you smell purdy!!!
why, thank you, sistine.
A funny thing – I have friends with the last name Purdy. I think it’s a charming word and name. Also know people with the last name Darling.
Having that “Oh YEAH!” feeling is absolutely fantastic, isn’t it?
Oh YEAH!
It’s wonderful. ????
I am a Hajusuuri twin today in Chanel Paris-Deauville.
I too went to Nordstrom yesterday and made myself a sample, but not before spraying my entire left arm with 8-10 good sprays from the tester. Lovely stuff and it reminds me of the O de Lancôme of decades past (have not smelled it recently). Lasting power on the feeble side, but if I pressed my nose to my arm I could still smell it several hours later. This one has to be sprayed with aplomb, for sure. Hence the 125 mL bottle.
By comparison, I had 2 small sprays of Dior Privee Ambre Nuit on my right arm and I could still smell it 24 hours later. It’s a very nice, well behaved, elegant amber, perfect for fall.
And now I really want both! ????
Hey twin! I think Deauville hits the spot on muggy days and will likely do well in the Fall and Spring.
Hi twin! I agree, and that just about covers all weather in my neck of the woods, therefore I “need” to get a bottle very soon ????
Oh, really? I sprayed it on a card and took it home, and my husband and I found one spray quite penetrating. I’m a patchouli fan, even so, this clean version knocked me over the head. After setting the card down, the scent stuck to the surface of my side table!
Hey NSTRs! I had a hectic weekend with no tIme to post. It was my birthday this past Saturday. I didn’t get perfume this year but I did treat myself to a new Dooney bag; Almost as good as perfume and something that I needed. Plus the website was running a great sale.
My FIL has been recooperating in a nursing home this summer so we took his German Shepherd, Giorgi Girl, home this past Sunday. We went on hike in a state forest and let her run around our yard off leash for the rest of the day. While hiking, we met a women on who was horseback riding. Giorgi who never barks, had never seen a horse before. She hid behind my husband and barked until he shushed her. My husband has been walking her daily but she’s alone too much and we worry about her. She’s such a sweet girl. I’d take her in a heartbeat but my cat is terrified of her. We’re going to have find a better situation for her soon.
I took today off for an extra long weekend. I went clothes shopping and stopped at the perfume counter on my way out of the store. I sniffed the new Dior Joy. It was just okay. I also sniffed EL White Linen and it smells very much like I remember. I also finally tried Knowing which is fabulous but it would be hard for me to find places to wear it.
Almost forget, SOTD is Eau des Merveilles, which I love wearing in the heat.
Whoops…that should be recuperating…
Happy Belated Birthday!Hope it was a great one!❤️✌????
Thank you! I had a whole birthday weekend! Movies and dinner and hiking! It was fabulous in the low-key way that I prefer..
Wonderful!I am glad you enjoyed it,and I like the idea of a whole birthday weekend!
❤️❤️
Awww, Happy Birthday to you and glad you took an extra day for yourself.
So kind of you to look after the dog, but poor kitty! Maybe it’ll warm up to the dog? My cats are afraid of my neighbor’s cat. Sometimes they have a standoff in the yard peeking under the fence. The neighbor’s cat is so friendly. It’s my cats that are the hissers, lol. They don’t seem to mind the neighbor’s dog, oddly.
Keeps me from any grand ideas about fostering cats, though. I hope you find somewhere for Giorgi and that your FIL recuperates soon!
Thanks Elisa!
Meowy, a.k.a., the king of everything, was a stray and is just terrified of Giorgi. Probably a great survival strategy for a stray cat. If I force them into the same room Meowy hides and freezes into a solid board What’s ironic is that Giorgi is just as afraid of Meowy. I wish they could talk. We’re going to try again next Sunday using a crate for the dog but I don’t have high hopes. Meowy is indoor/outdoor so he’ll just disappear until the dog leaves. With our acreage and neighboring barns, I’ll never find him if he hides. I really wish I could make it work.
There is a good chance that my FIL may not return home. He’s 92 and has a host of health issues that may prevent his return. That’s why we’re trying to acclimate our cat to his dog.
The story about your cats acting like divas around your kitty neighbor is too funny!
Belated Happy Birthday, Petunia. I’m glad you had a winderful weekend and you gave yourself a treat!
Thanks H!
Happy belated birthday Petunia! Great you had a nice time!
Thank you PL67. I admire your strength considering your work situation this summer. I faced something similar at my job so I empathize. Work stress sucks!
Thank you Petunia! When you are in this field you need to be ready to be outside at any moment. Unpleasant and stressful, but I try my best not to despair sometimes! ????
Happy birthday! Thanks for taking such great care of that beautiful dog. I hope you have a healthy, happy year.
Thanks sistine! She’s an absolute doll. It’s no effort.
Happy Belated Birthday! ????????????✨ Nicely done on celebrating for the whole weekend. ???? Sorry to hear about your FIL, though. I’m crossing my fingers for a happy resolution with your cats and Georgi. ????
Thanks dear Jalapeno. My husband’s family bought her as a companion for my FIL after his wife passed. He chose the name Giorgi girl because that was my MILs maiden name. Sort of a play on words to the old song.
Happy belated Birthday! Sorry to hear about your FIL. His situation is one that I always worry about too, although I’m not 92. I worry (probably very uselessly) about T-Rex if something should happen to me. Hoping you can find a solution where you FIL is well looked after and can still keep Giorgi. Cats and dogs DO acclimate but it can take a while. I introduced an adult cat to my adult Rottweiler, and while they were never BFF’s, there was mutual tolerance and respect.
Thanks Deva! I guess it is something to think about but you’re still a young chic. It seems that scenario will probably never happen to T-Rex.
We’ve brought Giorgi home several times on the weekends and Meowy just takes off until the dog is long gone. However, we are working on it. We’ll try again this weekend.
Happy belated birthday and congrats on the Dooney. Sorry about the pup and kitty – hope there’s a good resolution soon. I wish I could have a doggie… and best wishes to the FIL.
Thanks LizzyB!
Around here there are German Shepherd and other purebred did rescue groups. Perhaps if you search online you could find one willing to help re-home your dog.
Purebred DOG rescue groups!
Several people have already expressed an interest. We’re just trying to make it work for us before we resort to finding her a good home. We worry that another family won’t take care of her and love her the way we do. She deserves the best.
Happy belated birthday! I feel the same way about Knowing, I love and admire it, but don’t think I would ever find the right time to wear it.
Just a quick Hi and Bye!Busy day at work,22:31 and I am TIIIIIIIREDDDD!
Also, some people who are called “friends” can sometimes suck the life out of you with their dramas, but I ain’t playing that game tonight…
I DID smell wonderful, fabulous,on point in Shalimar Parfum Initial. The late late drydown is my favorite part,on my skin now.Alas, will be showered off in a bit.
Happy Week everyone.
When life gives you lemons, rather drink tea and give yourself another big spritz of perfume, lemonade won’t cut it…..
X❤️✌????
Friendship can be hard work sometimes!
Sleep well, friend ????????????
Oversleeping twins with you today, Robin! ???? ????
Record-tying heat in my area today, so summer isn’t quite ready to give up and go away quietly. More of the same in the forecast. ???? Good thing I have some raspberry gelato in the freezer! ????
Back to trying samples from the sample stash. SOTD = Molyneux Quartz pour Femme. I like this quite a bit! Alas, it only hangs around for about 4 hours. This is a great scent for hot & humid weather.
It’s hot in my area too. Hang in there Jalapeno!
I just keep telling myself that I don’t have to shovel it!!!
That’s the spirit!????????⛄????
Same weather here — ugh.
Quartz is really nice — you smell(ed) good!
Thank you! It reminded me of the original version of Ivoire, or maybe a summerweight version of Wrappings. There’s a nice oakmoss note in there!
I still am not over how bad the weather has been this year. It was just an oven out there today. I don’t know if that’s why I keep staying up way too late reading, but it’s as good an excuse as anything else I can come up with
Just popping in to say hello and I miss you all!
The last couple of weeks have been hectic; same this week; maybe next week I’ll have an opportunity to catch up on your comments and news, etc.
SOTD was Providence Perfume’s charming new Lemon Liada. Sadly, it lasts absolutely no time. Haven’t had a chance to put on anything else yet.
Be well, everyone!
Aw, that’s a shame when something you like lasts less than it takes to type the sentence about it.
Be well, yourself!
Glad to hear it is charming though!
Philosykos today. White cedar is a note. I was surprised how many of my favorite perfumes list cedar as notes. This is my kind of CP!
Yes, me too—many perfumes I think of as pretty and light florals also list cedar as a note!
