It's Monday and it's Labor Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm doing a summer version of cedar, in Imaginary Authors An Air of Despair.
Reminder: on 9/7, wear a fragrance with cedar, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Happy Labor Day USA!
Normal Monday here, but finished early in theatre,so YAY for that!
SOTD YSL Paris.
Aaaaand Thunk.
Fabulous rose perfume,I shall repurchase in the distant future!
Enjoy your Monday friends!
X
Thunkinator????????????
Whoop!????????????????
Super thunker! Happy you got out early. That’s always a nice treat! ????
Sure is!Especially on a Monday!
R.I.P. Paris ????. Such a beautiful perfume! Keep going with the THUNK my friend! I would like to hear at the end of the Use it Up project, what are the perfumes that you really love and will keep in your collection.
J did you get any of the perfume letters? If not, should we mail them again?
Yes I am curious as well about which fragrances will be part of your capsule/curated collection.
Lol,the word “capsule” will be used rather loosely regarding my eventual curated perfume collection. It’s the only area in my life where the cull would seem to not have happened at all, viewed by someone who is not a total perfumista!????
Ok we will stick with the term “curated” then-LOL! Still curious as to which ones will make the list 🙂
Paris really is a beautiful perfume, and I enjoyed wearing it a lot this past Winter.
Regarding the letters, sadly NO.Not even a single one so far.Not sure if my postal adress is the problem,or what.I know it is not cheap sending snailmail these days,so I’d rather just say THANK YOU to everyone that wanted to participate, but I think we should leave it at that.(I was REALLY looking forward to the letters, but alas…)
I’ll keep you posted about my final curated collection, once I get there!
X
Oh no! That is so sad! I guess it was an address problem since you didn’t get any! ????.
Please, keep us posted about your perfume room!
We’ve been having a lot of troubles with local post office strikes etc,so yeah, the service is not the most reliable.I have everyone on email that wanted to send letters,I’ll send some snaps that way then, absolutely!x
We can email you photos and pdf’s if that would work. So sorry the letters did not arrive, I used beautiful Japanese paper for mine.
Oh no!So sorry my little project was an EPIC failure! But what a great idea!If anyone wants to,we could still do it that way.You guys have my mail addy, and then it is not a total loss, apart from the scented part.
I’ll be curious to hear if modern Paris is any good! Let us know (after your thunking, of course!)
Imneed to go sniff a fresh sample asap!
Paris is so perfect. I remember purchasing a mini, and then went through 2 bottles. I’m sorry about the letter situation. It was such a great idea.
Paris is beautiful, and you just reminded me I was gifted a vintage mini not so long ago!!How could I forget that!!Thanks Lillyjo!Hope your day off is wonderful!x
Whoo hoo for getting out a little (or a lot) early! ????????
Gap Heaven ????????????
ZOMG — do you have Grass or Om, too?
Ha!!! I wish!!! I drained those lovelies many years ago.
You can find them on eBay but they sell for around two hundred dollars each.
Should have bought a shipping container’s full back in the 90s. Like perfume bitcoin.
Yes. Although I did buy about 18 bottles of Heaven when it was becoming scarce in the stores. Drained them all. My current bottle is a recent purchase. I guess I bought the wrong Gap. Should have stockpiled Grass and Om. Or even Day and Earth. Those are even rarer.
I adored Grass. Still miss it!
They did bring it back briefly a while ago and I bought a bottle but it was reformulated and not quite the same.
Love the pic! I wonder what kind of cedar is shown there? It looks like thuja, or Northern white cedar. Only we do not call it cedar in my country.
It’s 30C (86F) here today, so I am doing a summer version of cedar too – Penhaligon’s Opus 1870. I think it’s the lightest, freshest cedar perfume I have.
While researching for this CP, I read a very informative article on use of cedar in perfumery – https://www.fragrantica.com/news/Cedar-In-Perfumery-Roots-and-Stumps-10560.html
I have no idea, sorry!
Well, happy Monday! It’s the best kind of Monday, being a holiday here in the US. Hope everyone gets to extend their weekend till tomorrow.
SOTD is Volutes edt which I haven’t worn in forever and I’m not sure why. I thoroughly enjoyed it last night and pretty sure everyone else did too. You’re welcome????
Love Volutes in both concentrations.Smelling AWESOME Deva!✌????
Thanks johanob! ✌????
How goes the van conversion, Deva? Started yet?
Not started yet. Either this week or next. I’m actually ok waiting a couple more weeks to start because it’s still hot here (flippin’ 90’s!). I have the van almost completely bare, need to take out the floor tomorrow.
The best kind of Monday, indeed!
Hope yours was fabulous! ✌????
Happy Suspended Parking Regulations Day from the beautiful streets of a crowded Los Angeles neighborhood. I hope everyone’s beer is cold and dogs are hot and mustardy.
Today is Nuit de Bakelite by Naomi Goodsir, which is a cedar tree hacked down, dusted with cocaine, and served as an outrageous holiday cookie that you can discern several streets away. Not a huge fan of this fume — it’s one of those, I love it! I hate it! frags — but with the chill humidity today, I’m hoping that tampers down some of the screaming.
Extreme bergamot, extreme galbanum, an extreme labor to appreciate, I think.
I was curious as to what Karo Karounde might be(which is listed as a note),only to find out it is actually also something most people here refer to as jasmine.Interesting!
“Most people here”-here in South Africa, just to clarify.
Isn’t that the one that is also in KKW’s new one?
It’s possible,but I cannot say.
ha! LA parking on a holiday is always interesting.
You smell great. Nuit de Bakelite is loud, but I think I like it. I had to put my sample in a ziploc bag all by itself. It was drowning out everything else.
Locked my space up on Friday!!
Thank you. 🙂 NdB is seriously loud — I, too, have it sequestered from all the other kids.
When I asked to sniff it at Luckyscent, they went out on the sidewalk to spray the test strip! No indoors spritzing of NdB allowed. That scared me off of it, honestly.
YES! Rachel at the DTLA location did the same thing when I asked, too. LOL It’s so ridic strong.
I’ve been enjoying your very creative perfume reviews as of late!
Thank you! Suffering so others won’t have too lol 🙂
Another day in the steambath with thunderstorms. I’m wearing La Fille de Berlin.
Oh I love La Fille!I should wear it sometime asap!Maybe do a rose week of my own this week!????
Ohh I like that idea. I am probably not going to do cedar because it’s too hot this week.
I need to investigate my collection to find which perfumes are actually eligible for participation! The only standout one for me is the Lutens Cedre.
I am too lazy 🙂
I might just stick with Heaven all week
That one’s at the top of my list!
I just got a free sample of Gallivant London, and it has a very cedar drydown. If I recall correctly, my teensy sample of Moschino Funny does too.
I’d like a rose week too.
Have you tried any of the others from the Delacourte Vanilla collection? I bought it and the Musc one for the girls as holiday presents ( the price is amazing) and tried them all. Nothing ground breaking for me. In fact those in the vanilla collection remind me of many other vanillas (Vanille Insensee, Vanilla Fields, Black Flower Mexican Vanilla, etc).
I bought the set and tried them all. I also found them derivative, nothing exciting enough to purchase.
Too bad because they have nice size travel sprays. But I really don’t want any redundancy.
Rats! I just ordered the Vanilla set a couple of days ago. The musk set didn’t do anything for me, but in any case a genius move to make them so low-barrier to order. (in Vanille Insensee today to tide me over)
No worries because they are all pleasant enough…just not full bottle worthy to me. The other thing is the presentation is so lovely that for four dollars each they make exquisite stocking stuffers if you know of someone who might like them.
I just ordered and was excited! The stocking stuffer idea is a good one
The samples are opaque so if you sneak a few spritzes to test before giving away no one will ever know 🙂
About to leave for work in a few minutes. What I hate about retail is having to work holidays. Nurses, doctors, police, firefighters and Emergency Rooms are vital services but having a grocery store open on a holiday because someone forgot buns isn’t vital. Wearing no 19 to get me through.
I hope your work day goes smoothly and is over before you realize.
This is an unfortunate north american phenomenon. In France, most businesses are closed on holidays, except certain shops in major tourist areas.
Hope your day goes fast with the help of No.19. You smell fantastic!
Good luck today!
Time to retrive Gucci pour Homme from the dungeon (aka known as the cellar’s fridge) for this Friday.
Until then, CdG 2Man. Nice
Both are nice choices. ????????
It’s still superior and humid in the southeast, and it looks like that’s not changing in the near future. Grumble grumble. I’m wearing Andree Putman’s L’Original, which is a gorgeous antidote to the heat and yuck.
Superior must be spellcheck for something, but I can’t think what! You smell great regardless.
Haha!My guess would be the same problem I have…(fat fingers)
I think I meant to write “super hot”. There certainly is nothing superior about this weather!
Ha…that’s funny.
Hoping it cools off for you soon!
Coffee sweetened with sandalwood syrup to regain some energy to run errands on a sunny, hot and humid day. Wearing Bronze Goddess.
Looking for some rest in the afternoon watching at home some of the US Open matches and eating sushi.
Happy Monday and Labor day everyone!
Yum yum yum on everything…. please pass me a cup of coffee!!!
I will pass you the coffee and whe whole bottle of the sandalwood syrup. Gosh! The flavor still bothers me, but as I said before I will not quit easily on sandalwood!
One day you will come around to it!!!! Until then I will wear all the sandalwood for you 🙂
That coffee sounds define!
It is! Except that the sandalwood taste and smell keeps bothering me…. until I knock it down! ????. But, a sandalwood lover will enjoy it more than me for sure!
I might have missed it, but why are you adding sandalwood syrup if you don’t like it? Also, enjoy your day off!????
Ha! Just challenging myself! ????
Very happy to hear that you have a well deserved and relaxing day off! ????✌
Thank you Jalapeno! Ready for a week where I will be working outdoors ????Resting as much as I can today! ????
Yay for Bronze Goddess, coffee, the US Open, sushi…everything you mentioned haha!
☕☕☕????????????????????????????????????
“om A simple union of sensual musk and spiritual incense, to be shared.”
LOLOLOL ???? Hopping on the CKONE ad copy, Gap ?
4 oz EDT $19.50 (1996)
Y’all made me find my bottle.
Pleasant. ????????????????
Ginger, black pepper, soap, musk, warm sandalwood, coriander.
Pleasant. ????????????????????????
Sometimes pleasant is enough. ????????????????????????
????✌????
Whaaaaaaattttt!!!!!!
So jealous Bear!!
No, but seriously, you smell great. Weren’t those prices amazing?
Goes to show that good doesn’t always mean pricey.
I am fairly certain that when the originals first came out in 1994 ( Heaven, Day, Grass and Earth) they were something like 12 .50 USD. The metal travel sprays were only five dollars a pop. And there were matching body products including shampoo and hair conditioner and candles. I am going to see if I kept my original finished candle in storage in the basement and report back. I also kept my original empty 4 oz bottle.
???? I thought they released before ’96.
1994 makes sense, I liked Earth, also.
Even my crazy a$$ wouldn’t go in and buy them all! !!! ????LOLOLOL ????????????????????????????
Yep! I remember liking Day and Grass, but never purchasing.
Kept in the box, so the fluorescent Orange ???????????????????????? is intact.
What are the notes you discern for Heaven?
????????????✌
Bergamot, white florals/lily of the valley, a bit of green notes and musk. The original I swear had incense in the drydown but current does not. I am partial to it because Heaven and I have a long history with Mr. CM8. And every single time I wear it someone tells me that I smell good so it is mass appealing.
I found two old bottles with different colored boxes. One has the price at 18 and the other at 19.50 so that must have been from 1996. I wish I would have bought them all and not THUNKED them…but then again they might have gone off with all the moving I did and not keeping things in optimal condition (heat, light, etc). Sadly, I could not find the candle…must have thrown it out 🙁
and it’s sweet although lots of scents read sweet on my skin…must be all the sugar I eat-LOL!
as per fragrantica-
“Heaven by Gap is a Floral Green fragrance for women. Heaven was launched in 1994. Top notes are lemon, orange blossom and green leaves; middle notes are freesia, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley and carnation; base notes are sandalwood, musk and moss”
I appreciate Fragrantica as a reference, but as with everything, take it with a grain of salt.
They list Oud in the base of om. Unless they are referring to a rerelease (word?), a) 1996 predates the common usage of Oud b) it ain’t in there! ????
Oud in OM? Nah…I remember it being a sweet incense…I rather liked it …enough to drain two large bottles.
btw, I re-applied Heaven with a tiny spray of Incense Pure at the bottom…smells good 🙂
Nice job, finding your old bottle of Om! And it didn’t go off!
???? Thanks Jalapeno!
Smells same as it ever was.
You may find yourself, living in a shotgun shack….????????????????
SotM = Escentric 02
Hairspray, lemons, woods.
Weird, but I like it.
Wondering if it will change over time.
Happy Labor Day, NST peeps in the US,
and happy Monday to all the world.
Let’s make it an extra beautiful day.
Would love to hear your update on this later in the drydown.
update: NOPE
ugh, it’s giving me a migraine, and I don’t like the sharpness I get from either hedione or the musk. scruuuuubbbbbed. 🙁
Yeah, I thought it was a mess, too. Thanks for confirmation!
Oh no! It’s one of my favorites. I actually am wearing it right now after my post-yoga shower. Sorry it made you feel sick, Tiffanie!
thanks, sistine, I did like Escentric 02 to start but it did turn on me pretty quickly. I will try it again.
There are some aromachemicals that trigger migraine every time, boo.
PG Le Musc & La Peau from a sample. Thunk. I ordered this one awhile ago along with a handful of other musks. I’m always on the search for the perfect skin scent. This one is pleasant enough but I don’t need a fb.
Rained here (again!) this morning and now the skies are trying to clear. I can hear the university’s marching band practicing, a sure sign that fall is in the air.
Did you ever get the Sylvaine Delacourte Musc Collection? Wonder if there might be a musk in there to your liking? Or what about Dame Musk? or something from Kuumba Made? Or Philosophy? Or Cacharel Noa? Or Creative Scentualizations Perfect Veil?
I did get that sampler set and liked Florentina the best because of the almond note. Not enough to buy though- I’ve got Lea to fill that category. I just got the vanilla sampler set the other day and as I was opening it, it smelled similar to the musc’s. They must all share the same base.
I have a small decant of both Dame and Noa. I’ve tried Perfect Veil but it was too powdery/musty for me.
My most recent “perfect skin scent” is Diptyque’s Fleur de Peau.
Ha! Florentina was my favorite too because of the almond! I also liked Helicriss because of the immortelle but I could see it as a love/hate because there are times I am smelling cumin. Kumbaa Made sells in health food stores and possible Whole Foods and there are samples. They are oil based and very inexpensive. They have a variety of musks and I have owned many of them over the years. I would also recommend Inland Fog Egyptian Musk and China Musk. Not sure if they still sell them but you can always look. They are also oil based and used to be very inexpensive.
Triloka also makes a really nice musk which smells like a skin scent to my nose.
If you can, try TM Over the Musk. It’s my perfect musk scent. Goes on a little loud, but becomes a skin scent quickly.
Have you tried AG Musc Nomade yet? That one is the best “your scent but better” musk scent I have tried.
Even though I’m super late, I’m still popping in to say hello! Happy Monday off, those who are.
In in Fougere Royale extrait, probably from the 40’s. I noticed it was evaporation from my bottle, so I knew it was time to seal it up better.
Wow, keep that bottle safe!
Ysatis for work. Finally got me a beeg vintage bottle of this after draining the mini. *happy dance*
Then Yardley English Rose for home. Must’ve oversprayed – MR Schneeze commented it hit him on the head upon me opening the front door for him. Ah well, spray on. 😀
Yay for vintage Ysatis!! I found a current version very cheap, but left it on the shelf because I didn’t want to disturb my memory of the original.
Happy Labor Day to Everyone! Spending my day in the house and just relaxing. Its a rainy day, so bbq is out. But, just laying around and getting some extra rest isn’t all that bad.
Just picked up a bottle of Gucci Bloom and I am enjoying it.
Be safe everyone.
Gucci Bloom is rather nice, isn’t it?
A lazy day is so nice sometimes! I hope you’ve enjoyed yours!
Cedar note? That is fun. I suspect I have loads of perfumes with cedar. Still battling a wretched cold so I am a little ambivalent about my perfume— don’t want my gimpy nose to put me off some dear fragrance. A little while I purchased for a song (some crazy sale someone on NST pointed me to) Rosas Frescas by Coqui Perfumes. It was a blind purchase, but for the price I figured it was worth it. This simple little rose makes me ridiculously happy! Wearing it today. It is a bright, fizzy, hint of soap rose, and despite no mention of patchouli in the notes… I smell a spot of woody (not earthy) patchouli. Anyway, my cold isn’t messing with it too much.
Are you still looking for more Stephen Jones even though you are getting your full bottle?
I don’t think so. I go through perfumes so slowly.
Lemming on the Rosas Frescas.
It’s overcast and cool this morning and I’m wearing Carner Barcelona D600. Yesterday I started transferring all my CDs to digital format and I’m running across stuff I haven’t listened to in ages. I’ll get rid of the CDs I bought for only one special song and free up some valuable shelf space.
That’s so fun to find music you haven’t heard in ages! I’ve been spending hours on Spotify lately making playlists. Playlists on shuffle are what I tried to do with mixtapes/cds years ago.
You smell great!
I love that piece of the modern world…I actually appreciate getting rid of cds and books that clutter up my space yet have access to everything one can imagine in music and literature.
You smell great! And yay for listening to good music more and freeing up space. 🙂
Hi all! Big fan of cedar and I have plenty to wear this week – had Zoologist Macque all lined up for today – but Imaginary Authors Slow Explosions caught my eye instead. It smells so good! I would swear there’s some incense in among the leather, saffron and apple but it’s not listed in the notes. Love the sound of the IA you’re wearing today, Robin! Have you smelled Sundrunk yet? I’m debating getting a sample.
Sorry for very late reply, but I have not — hope to, though!
Good morning from rainy Houston. At least it’s a lot cooler outside–75–we haven’t had 70s for ages here. My a/c is dying slowly and I’m happy for each day I don’t have to torture it more (hoping to make it through until next season). We’re all so paranoid about hurricanes that we tremble to hear abut storms coming into the Gulf. Galveston is having bad street flooding. PTSD time. I’m wearing Fan de Fendi from a sample. Might have to buy some of this one, I love the top tangerine note. Not very expensive to boot. The kitties and I will enjoy a sleepy holiday indoors.
Hope that you stay high and dry for the rest of the week Calypso!
I know what you mean about weather PTSD – my city flooded after some terrible rains, and the sound of rain still makes me anxious. I hope the weather stays cool and you don’t have to replace your AC until well into 2019. Stay dry and comfortable! Pet the kitties!
I got a sample from a kind SA of Lipstick Rose and this morning I’m having a LR vs Misia battle. I find them less similar side by side than I did separately. Misia is winning for me today with the Chanel iris winning over the Malle musk.
I thought Lipstick Rose and Dior’s Cuir Cannage were pretty close in how they smelled!
YR Neroli, lovely but fleeting. I apply and reapply generously bc it was cheap. ????
This morning I sampled Phlur Hananmi. Nice but eventually the synthetic cedar got to me and I had to wash it off. Over the last year, my nose has gotten very sensitive to some of these woody and amber synthetics that are so prevalent these days. Once I detect the synthetic, I can’t smell much else. Bummer bc I love cedar and sandalwood in perfume. ????
My scent-phobe mom hates woody and everything else. She thinks I’m trying to kill her.
My mother would accuse me of trying to kill her with scent too, no matter how sneaky I thought I was being, she could always smell me.
LOL
I have a scent phobe mom too! She always complains about my perfume.????
I’m in Chêne this afternoon after going commando this morning. Had a gym session with a trainer for the first time in many years, and will have them weekly for awhile.
I’m not sure about this Serge…it might be one I can admire, but not wear. It’s very well done though, and I am grateful for the chance to try it.
There are a few perfumes/scents I’ve encountered where I’ve had that reaction, too. “Can’t wear this, but that is some amazing/impressive/complicated stuff!”
I wonder if we’ve done a community project on that topic: perfumes you admire, but find difficult to wear. Umm, come to think of it, we might not get much participation. ????
LOL! But it might be fun! and maybe we might change our mind about certain fragrances.
Finished errands and cleaning today, now just doing nothing, and very happy about it. I stopped at ULTA to get a half off eyeliner, and sprayed Dior Joy. I had read that it reminds some people of Allure. Came home and sprayed that on my other hand. I think there is a similarity once DJ dries down. It didn’t last long, after 2 hours it vanished on my skin. Hope everyone has a great day ????????❤
My sad backwards llam didn’t have Dior Joy @ either atlU nor sycaM yesterday. ????
At least they have pulled pork! !!????????????
LOLOLOL ????????????✌
Bear,it’s 22:41 over here…that took me a while to figure out!!!Lol!????????????????????????
???? You’re better than I am, if it was that late, I would figure it out the next morning! LOLOLOL ????????????????????
Sleep tight, Johano! ????✌????
Haha!Thanks ????✌????????????
Ha! I just assumed I wouldn’t get it, but I just did! Yay me!????
From what I’ve read about Dior Joy, it sounds like the pulled pork would be a better idea, anyway. ????
???? I am prepared to be underwhelmed, but it has been compared to Allure Chanel and Dune Christian Dior, so I will be critiquing the reviewers as much as the scent. ????????????
Dior Dune, you say? Then I MUST try Dior Joy.
Interesting, I couldn’t deny the Allure comparison, although faint to me. I didn’t think Dune for a second. Now I have to try again. Looking forward to you critiquing the reviewers ????????????????????
How about pork rinds? I think that wins over pulled pork. ????????????
L’Artisan Ananas Fizz for the last time on this sleepy, humid day. It would have been nice if the rest of this week was supposed to be cooler, but its not, so fall fragrances will have to wait.
I am lamenting the return of hot and muggy. I sure love Fall – hear that, Mother Nature?
It’s been like fall here in NM this weekend but I think it’s supposed to get hot again this week. 🙁 I’ve enjoyed the cooler temps this eeekend for sure.
Hello, NST! I hope that the folks in the US who have Labor Day off are enjoying it. ???? ???????????? I kind of THUNKED a sample over the weekend. I did not have a really scary, get-it-off-me-NOW scrubber with Hermes Eau de Citron Noir. It just smelled like Mr. Jalapeno’s antiperspirant. Since Eau de Pitstick is not my kind of thing, off to the “Give” pile it goes.
Based on a hunch, I checked allergen counts for my area earlier today. Mold spores are wreaking havoc with me. So, yay, it’s not a summer cold. But “Boo! Hiss!” for non-seasonal allergies. ????
SOTD = Chloe Nomade, from the cutest little rollerball sample. Not sure how I feel about this one, so I’m setting it aside to try at a later time.
Haha!Love that!”eau de pitstick”,and I shall steal it for future usage!!????????????????☺️????
It gets the point across rather effectively, doesn’t it?
???? I sprayed Nomade on paper last week, and it was interesting.
The Oakmoss they used is actually a patchouli fraction formulation, but it did the “modern Chypre thang”,quite well. The freesia heart note made it a bit high-pitched for me, but it was at least interesting. YMMV ????????
I got plenty of soapy-powdery, not so much (if any) fruit or flowers. This might work better for me in cooler weather.
Eau de pitstick! Thanks for the laugh ????????. What does it mean to have a non seasonal allergy?
In my case, it means that the allergies are present year-round.
That’s awful. I was hoping once the humidity went away that my own sinuses would feel better. I didn’t know allergies were prevalent in the colder months too.
I’m allergic to dust and mold, so those are around all the time. Usually I don’t have any issues. And sometimes the symptoms are so mild I just ignore them. Not the case this past week, though.
I’m enjoying a few sprays from my decant of L’Attessa today; I received it on Friday as we were heading out the door for the weekend. I’m considering a full bottle as a birthday gift to myself, which is on Wednesday.. I’ll be 29 again.
We are finally back home after being at a golf tournament all weekend that by hubby’s brother was in. My hubby caddies for his brother, and the rest of us who went along are the ‘backup caddies’ – which means getting the beer and ciders as and when required..lol
We walked the course twice and my feet are exhausted, but I learned from last year to take ibuprofen BEFORE heading out and it made a difference. And I was able to ‘thunk’ my runners today, as the bottom of them split apart when we were walking the course yesterday.
Looks like we’re thunking everything right now. Happy Birthday in advance…L’Attessa is a nice present! I wonder if it is included in the Twisted Lily 20% off sale?
As to walking the course, sounds like a good way to get in your exercise!
Thank you on the heads up on Twisted Lily, I will definitely check it out.
And funny story about ‘thunking’ stuff. My brother in law’s wife is great at purging as they have moved many times. She would get rid of some of his “excess” quite strategically by asking him about things after he’s come home from a weekly golf night (and a couple drinks).
Forgot to mention this in my previous post. Over the weekend, I heard about a tractor-trailer carrying a load of AXE that came to a sudden end. Some of the news articles had rather entertaining commentary.
Oh, and no one was injured, despite cans of AXE exploding all over the highway.
No noxious fumes, I take it? ????
Depends on your opinion of AXE. ???? But haz-mat crews did have to be called in to clean up after the fire was extinguished. Gizmodo had one of the funnier articles about it.
Power outage right now but since it is usually like an ice box inside, the hot and muggies are staying outside.
SOTD = Al-Rehab Choco Musk
So cheap and so good. It was specially cheap for me since it was a gift.
Testing: Les Eaux de Chanel Deauville. Very nice. I was ready to dismiss this on first spritz as it smelled toothpaste minty but it soon gave way to a mix of citrus green and a hint of flowers. I spritz this on right before I left for Wegmans and while Inwas there, I kept thinking that I was right by someone whose perfume smelled nice and yup, it was me. I know someone here just had that same experience this past week with another perfume.
Yes, the great purge continues. I actually have 70+ (and probably more) clothing to donate. How many “perfect tank” does anyone need? If you’re hajusuuri, 10; I must have bought one in just about every color except white and off-white. Rinse and repeat this with cami with shelf-bra, satin neck Ts in short and long-sleeved. How about pajama sets, lounge wear, and don’t get me started about hoodies! Also, I apparently have a penchant for green clothes in many shades and whenever I bought a green something, I also get a blue one. And finally, does anyone look good in yellow? And all these before I’ve begun to tackle the WIC. Oy vey!
I went to Dollar Tree to look for a wall calendar for mom (none yet and I refuse to pay more than $2 for a large one). But the most outrageous thing I saw was, are you ready for this, Christmas decorations! It’s wrong! Very wrong!
Wegmans. That enough to make me start sighing with envy. But your description of Deauville sounds really nice…
I randomly picked this one to try. Maybe it’s downhill from here? I’m happy to like at least 1 of 3.
I totally agree with the Christmas stuff!! Someone at work was saying our local Costco had stocked Christmas decorations to buy already as well; this was about a week ago.
You win ????
VERY thankful I have not yet seen any Xmas stuff. I was grouchy enough as it is when I spotted Thanksgiving stuff at the Wegman’s I frequent.
Sounds like your “Get It Gone!” project is progressing rather well so far.
This has given me a better idea for future purges. I will meet my goal!
I initially was kind of underwhelmed by all Les Eaux but Deauville became more and more interesting to me with each wearing. I may need a bottle. I get quite a bit of patchouli from it. In my mind it is Coco Mademoiselle Fresh but in the best possible way. ????
Venise was second best but quite a bit of overlap with Misia and 1932 so I shall not pursue more.
I got babychouli and yes, I may need a bottle of Deauville ????
Glad you are staying cool, but I hope you got your power back!
Got the power back on. It was ot for about an hour and thank goodness, I was in between laundry loads!
I’m sorry but I laughed out loud over your clothes purge haha! And totally agree on Christmas decorations should NOT be out yet!
Post gym, I’m in Lann-Ael, AKA Breakfast in Faerie.
Aloha Tiaré for me again to try and cool myself down. Gads it is hot and sticky out there…. normally, this scent would feel too sweet but it’s more refreshing in the heat….
We pulled the trigger on a new couch today – hoping it fits. We will have less floor space definitely, since it’s extra deep. But who needs floor space? It’s not like I currently have room to do anything, so what’s a little less? Right? Right?
Stopped at Whole Foods as I trudged to the bus and I am now chowing down on the Himalayan Sweetness popcorn they had on sale. Oh my! Like kettle corn only lighter. I must put the bag away for now…I swear could eat the whole thing.
Congrats on the new couch! Will you be moving it yourself, or having it delivered?
Delivered. Today was last day for free delivery.
Yay for the new couch! Haven’t tried that popcorn but it sounds amazing.
Aroma M Geisha Blanche for a hot, humid day.
Happy Labor Day.
Trying out Nuit de Cellophane and Wit today…both for the first time.
Trying to use it up and work through samples that are languishing like so many of my fellow comrades.
How do you like them?
Neither are particularly pleasing me.
Wit smells like cut flowers but it is quite sharp. Looking at Fragrantica it appears have linden and linden and I are generally not friends. ????
NdC is ok but kind of smells mass market to me. I haven’t done extensive sampling of the Lutens line but this is quite normal/average fruity floral smelling to me.
Enjoy your short week!
It’s been such a fun weekend! I’m sad to see it come to an end. The weather in New Mexico has been so amazing all weekend. I leave Thursday evening for Alabama though (see my son for his bday) so yay for a 3 day work week!!!
Tonight I am in Sa Majeste La Rose thanks to Koyel. It is so beautiful to me. I love rose scents more and more lately.
Have a good night, fragrant friends!
Hooray, I’m happy to see it arrived safely 🙂
It has been way too long since I participated in a community project, but this one is cedar so I finally have one that works!
SotD: Generous sprays of Twilly, after sampling it at Sephora. It lasts a VERY long time on my skin, 9 hours and still powdery-scented!
