It's Monday's Ugly Little Sister, or it's just Tuesday, it all depends on your frame of mind. Birthdays today: Alexandre Dumas, Zelda Fitzgerald and Amelia Earhart. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm commando for some routine medical testing; this afternoon I am planning to wear something cheerful to counteract the rain. Maybe April Aromatics Ray of Light?
Reminder: on 7/27 we'll celebrate the Buck Moon...pick your poison for the full moon tonight.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Babele Antico Teapot from Richard Ginori ("From the Babele Collection, Richard Ginori's glazed white porcelain Antico teapot is hand-drawn with blue flowers and vines and styled with wavy edges.") is $275 at Barneys.
What??? It’s before 9am…the SOTD post up already threw me for a loop đ
Continuing with what I wore yesterday because I really enjoyed my woody/nutty/vetiver concoction…woody pudding homemade body oil, Mexican Cocoa on the wrists (there is definitely an almond note in this one which I am picking up stronger today) and Greylocke on the shirt (I think I love Greylocke because it reminds me of something from my past….maybe vintage Cristalle…before it got ruined by reformulation).
Robin, good luck with your medical procedures today. Hope all goes well !!!!!
and if I knew how to put that trademark symbol in next to the words woody pudding I would and give credit to Robin đ
and a shout out THANK YOU to viridiaan for recommending the Apothecary candles as substitutes for the Pacifica…..haven’t ordered yet but if I do you get an enabler pin đ
Hahaha! You’re welcome cm8! Hope you enjoy them as much as I do! đ
I got up early for once! And thanks, they’re really just routine tests.
Smelling wonderful CM8! ????????
Thanks ????????????
Rainy day #4. Sampling Ineke Idyllwild today, enjoying it so far!
enjoy the rain and the sampling…
I like how you smell. Hopefully, it didnât disappoint you until the end.
You smell lovely!
Tea: Pleine Lune
SOTD : Aoud Violet by Mancera
Listening to Mc Solaar <3
Just finished making the little ones steal cut oats, raisins and cranberries. I top mine with walnuts.
Yum. I need to whip up a batch of baked oatmeal again.
Itâs so good, and good for you!
Yummy, I like mine with walnuts too.
OMG MC Solaar, throwback to my childhood!!! I used to listen to him sometimes in high school and haven’t even thought about him in over a decade!
well, Koyel my dear, he has come out with a new album last year. His first in 10 years.
Steel cut oatmeal is the best! Yummy!
BPAL Sea of Glass oil, which I identify as mainly a type of lily of the valley with a little citrus, but reviews are calling acquatic, crystalline and fresh, in an approving, good way.
The reviewers mention that this is hard to describe, which is true. I presume there is a base of ambergris here which heightens the experience of whatever other ingredients are in it, but the bottom line is it smells lovely in the bottle and even better on my skin.
It is soothing and relaxing, tho, so maybe not the best for a day a work when you have to be on top of a whole bunch of boooorrring little tasks that are hard to focus on…which is why I am here, talking about perfume at 9:18 in the morning, instead of doing my work, I suppose.
Happy Tuesday, everyone…
That name is going to be my new relaxation image! It sounds lovely.
Emptied my sample of Lubin Jardin Rouge. It starts out with this amazing berry and rose with a bit of pepper; very fresh. Itâs gorgeous but it doesnât last. I will change to something new in a couple of hours!
That sounds nice! I’ve never seen those Lubins.
I got the sample at Jovoy but I see that this one is available at Arielle Shoshana. Itâs tempting because the opening is so good, but my theoretical To Buy list is getting very, very long…!
My Zoologist mini set came last night! My husband immediately absconded with 4 of them (which was the plan; bless his budding interest in weird perfume) but the Elephant is all mine.
đ
Ooh! Which did he take? How is Elephant??
Moth, Rhinoceros, Camel, Bat. I love Elephant! It is lots of crushed greens over a sandalwood base.
That sounds really good.
Ummagumma Bruno Fazzolari
You smell great Bear!
Hey, Bear! Hope you had your coffee this AM. đ
Morning ????
I love that one! It’s moving up on the To Buy list for me.
???????????? Bear, you smell the BESTEST!
Earlier this morning right before leaving for work, I randomly picked up one of my Serge Lutens bottles and sprayed a few small sprays. That bottle happened to be “Serge Lutens”, which I have not worn in quite some time.
Do you mean Serge Noire?
I was about to say, “I don’t think I have anything to correlate with a full moon,” and then my eye fell upon the bonus sample in my most recent DSH sample order: Je Suis la Lune, which is a wonderfully milky jasmine. I think my Friday is set. đ
Wearing Mary Greenwell Plum… which I hear is now discontinued. Good thing I have a backup.
Anybody with too much rain can send it my way. It has rained everywhere around us, but very little here at the farm. This recent front which was supposed to dump a couple of inches on us has only given us .2″, and The CEO is starting to worry that there won’t be enough grass to make sufficient hay for cows this winter.
You can have our rain âïž
Can we have a “rain swapmeet?” We could use some where I am as well.
The never-ending joy of farming, being at the mercy of the elements all the time….hope you get some rain soon, to make your grass grow…
Oooooh, Je Suis La Lune sounds wonderful! And sending you some rain from South Jersey. <3
I had a rare craving for something on the sweeter side so I pulled out my Aroma M Vanilla Hinoki. Every time I wear it I notice a different aspect and today it’s the bergamot. Anyway, it’s hitting the spot for a dreary Tuesday.
I also have a spritz of Malin + Goetz Vetiver from a sample I forgot I had. It’s pretty nice, light, subtle with a hint of sweetness and spice (cardamom). I’ll give it a full wearing soon.
The MG vetiver and cardamom sounds really nice – two of my favorite notes!
I like it, but probably because I’m not a huge fan of vetiver, generally. It’s very light, not much oomph. Not worth the $165 IMO. But, it’s worth a spritz if you happen upon a tester.
You smell delightful! I love Vanilla Hinoki in summer, and year-round.
Thank you! I think of it as an autumn, but likely because I bought it and wore it a lot a couple of Octobers ago. It did well in the humidity today-I have the oil so it doesnât project much.
I just requested a sample of this with my last perfume order.
Wearing Mandragore so I can cope with the high temperatures. I always forget to wear this one, and yet it is so good! Plus I got it in the lovely purple bottle with gold letters.
Tea is Jardin du Luxembourg, Damman FrĂšres.
It is indeed so good.
Sampling Mousse Illuminee from Rogue Perfumes. It’s green and foresty but has a diffusive element that really isn’t jibing for me
SOTD is Azemour – it’s supposed to get ridiculously hot here today, but it sure was nice at 5:45 this morning out on the deck, watering plants.
You smell great SheriG!
Continuing on with my discovery sets – I’m wearing Berdoues Oud Al Sahraa.
Do you like it?
Coffee
Chanel Paris Deauville
I have yet to try that series from Chanel. Bergdorfs doesn’t carry it
The boutique has them. I haven’t been yet (or ever), though. But I’m so curious about these I may just have to break my streak.
I love them.
Not a summer person
Not a summer fragrance person
So these are perfect for me.
Yes to coffee….
I second that “yes” as I drink my 3rd of the day.
Like Robin, going commando for some morning medical testing. Later, I might spritz something cool, green and watery, like Eau d’Lalique. Gonna be another hot one, today.
Hope yours are over now too Lisa D.
Good morning Y’all!
Back in Ysatis again….I LOVE this ‘fume so much! Only 34 years late discovering it…. đ
Smelling great, Jada! Curious, when do your kids go back to school this year? They changed us to start Aug 20. Which is the earliest start I’ve ever seen here.
Hey there!
My hubs goes back for Faculty training Monday (July 30), and the kids go back Monday, Aug 6th!
This is a big year for us….my oldest is a Senior, and I also have a Freshman and a 7th grader. Busy times! Time to start touring colleges and such! đ
I was shocked to see that HS here starts August 1.
Need to test Ysatis. If you love it, it must smell great.
Wow, that is early!
You smell great! I wore that when it was first released.
I adore Ysatis, my mother and grandmother wore it, such an elegant fragrance.
It formerly came in a body cream/gel that had a spectacular feather weight whipped fluffy consistency and it was the most pale shade of pink.
Ooh, I don’t remember a body cream, but adored the perfume.
I loved it too, lillyjo. Iâm sure I had big shoulder pads on my jackets at the time.
Day 2 of Mugler Cologne.
I’m flirting with a blind buy of a very cheap mini bottle of Grey Flannel, based on my love of old-school men’s colognes (Eau Sauvage, Old Spice, Brut, etc) and the notes list (iris, galbanum, neroli, vetiver…)
I’m generally opposed to blind buys on principle, but the financial risk here is especially low. Talk me into it? Talk me out of it?
You should have it, especially if itâs vintage, which is dazzling, but even modern reformulations have been good in my experience. Just buy it. Do it do it do it!
Noted! This would be a current bottle, not vintage, but it’s enough of a classic that it feels like a must-sniff for me.
Very cheap minis aren’t really blind buys because you’d probably have to spend just as much on a sample!
Good point! Sort of ironic that cheapies seem to be the hardest to sample, so I’ve spent more $$ overall on “cheap” perfumes than on the luxury-priced ones.
I loved Grey Flannel and wore it as a teen. However, I hear the reform is not so good….for this reason I have not thought about purchasing it for nostalgic’s sake. However, Regina makes a valid point in that the mini is probably the same cost as a sample. If the financial risk is low then go for it but keep in mind that it probably won’t smell the same as the original did back in the day when it was fresh.
I used to steal sprays from my uncle’s bottle when I was in high school–I have been resisting going on the search for an old bottle and have resisted the reform as well.
I’ve never smelled the pre-reform version, so I have none of the “it’s not how I remember it” baggage (I choose to view that as a good thing đ ).
I ordered it đ
Yay! It’s a classic.
Good for you đ
I am so weighed down and bedraggled by this endless heat and humidity that I could scream, but that would take too much energy, so Iâm wearing the coolest, freshest thing I own, Bulgari ThĂ© Vert. (I bought it when it was launched and it actually looks like I might empty the bottle in a year or two, a rare feat for me.)
Hang in there mate, we are having the same here in Montreal. Itâs a drag for sure.
I really need to dig out my bottle of Thé Vert. Thanks for the reminder.
Sorry about the miserable weather but you smell great, at least.
I’m wearing the beautiful-but-fleeting Eau de Camille.
I’d love to share the rain here with all the people and animals who are suffering in extreme heat and drought…
You smell great. It is fleeting but is so pretty while it lasts.
That’s probably my favorite Goutal.
I’ve been at work since 6:30 to set up for a huge meeting. I usually don’t roll in until around 8:30 or 8:45 so it’s going to be a long day. Coffee a must.
I’m failing miserably at the project again today- I’m in Shalimar Light because I just grabbed one of my FBs in the dark while getting ready. I was trying not to wake my poor fiance.
Good luck with the meeting.
I have been pretty bad myself with participating in the CP but I am OK with that đ
Good luck with the meeting. I usually wear my nicest perfume to counter the early hour , if I need to come in super early to prepare.
Also, I wake the entire house so I might as well choose, I have the grace of a sleepy elephant in the morning.
Well I TRIED not to wake him….not saying I was successful lol.
still sweet to try. so! how did it go?
We’ve been getting periods of short bursts of rain here. I’m off today and enjoying some backyard quiet time. ( aka, avoiding stuff I need to do) sotd is Terracotta.
Based on the notes, I need to get my hands on some Terrcotta. Sounds like it’d be right up my alley, but I have not sniffed it yet.
Honestly, I have a hard time smelling it after first spray without pressing my nose against my skin. To me it’s a softer Orchid Soliel. Very pretty.
I’d probably like it then since I like Orchid Soleil.
Love Terracotta! â„â€????
Eau de Neroli for me, from Annick Goutal. We’ve moved during the weekend and it’s the only unpacked bottle.
I shall unpack the rest of the collection tonight!
Good luck unpacking! I always find that WAY more enjoyable than packing lol.
I find packing annoying because youâre up against the moving deadline and the stuff to pack seems to never end. But it is nice to find stuff you didnât remember you had. Or coming across things with memories.
But unpacking needs thought of where each thing goes…and stuff seems to never end … đ
Having just moved, I’ll take packing over unpacking. Oy vey. I’m finding the unpacking quite overwhelming and am nowhere close to finished despite having been in my apartment for over 3 weeks now.
Best to you with the move, monica404.
Thank you ! 3 weeks is short, you probably have everything critical unpacked already and that’s all one needs day to day.
I’ve read somewhere of an idea for unpacking in the lines of .. store away whatever is unopen after 3 months and throw it out if it’s still unopen after 6. Maybe that could be a good idea kpaint?
I moved 2 years ago and we still have a few piles boxes in a corner ????
Well, I just unpacked my jewelry yesterday, so it’s not so much that I have stuff I don’t need so much as I don’t have the energy to tackle it all.
We’ve gone through all of our stuff really aggressively 3x in 3 years (having packed twice and moved twice.) We tackled it really hardcore just before we moved across the country and have found that we were probably a little too overzealous.
The unpacking, like you said, “needs thought of where each thing goesâŠand stuff seems to never end ⊔ plus dealing with new spaces where what you have doesn’t quite work so you need to totally rethink everything and come up with a new game plan… Exhausting. And expensive.
I hope your situation goes more swiftly!
Hah in my previous move (which was a country change actually) I unpacked jewelry after a year! And we also did a really hard core cleaning of my stuff prior to it , also a bit too overzealous.
This time around I’m lucky because the new place seems very practically built and we only need to compensate for storage space with furniture for only a few things. Not really the experience in every other place before that!
Good luck and wishing you a lot of energy to make it to the end of the boxes!
Library of Flowers True Vanilla layered with Eau Aimable. I smell like a creamsicle. Yum!
Ooh. That does sound good.
I haven’t had a creamsicle in eternity but now I want one!
29C with 76% humidity. I am fighting fire with fire in Hiram Green Slowdive. It matches the syrupy air.
Brave woman!
That sounds awful. We are hotter here but the humidity is only in the 30’s.
Wow, 76% humidity is a dry day in my area. Just checked tomorrow’s forecast which says 96% humidity. Of course, it depends on what you’re used to.
Today’s SOTD is vintage Amazone EdP by Hermes. đ
I wore it back in the day.. not too long ago my best friend gave me a micro mini of it and I think I wore it three days straight and drained it…so good!!
I’m in my happy place, wafting galbanum, vetiver and oakmoss. This has been a favorite of mine since the 1980’s.
Because it is absolutely gorgeous ????????????
That is good stuff.
Iâm still in the never ending, magically rejuvenating VT…
I wouldnât go so far as to say Iâm sick of it, but I sure wish it were done. I may have to switch up tomorrow for sanityâs sake…!
I love VT!
Then switch it up, by all means!
Forgive me – what is VT?
Vetiver Tonka
Hermessence triplets!
I had a magically rejuvenating sample of Byredo Gypsy Water that I managed to finally use up either at the end of last month or the beginning of this one. Took what felt like FOREVER.
SOTD is voyage dâhermes edt. Got a rare notice from the hubby which surprised me since itâs so light compared to my other perfumes
You smell super good.
Hajusuuri has her commuting woes, I have my business travel woes.
Woe #1: OK so dang it is hot here in Texas (110 yesterday). I brought a bathing suit, thinking I would take an evening swim in the delightful pool featured on the hotel’s website. Turns out that the photos on the website were done with a Magic Expanding Hotel Camera. Perhaps with miniature pool furniture. A ‘lap’ in this pool would be about 3 strokes. Anyway it was full of people standing around in it trying to cool off. So much for that idea.
Woe #2: I often bring cosmetic samples on trips since they’re small. I realize this can be a gamble — once I brought a shampoo that instantly congealed on my hair. I think I used every single bath product, including bar soap, to attempt to get it out. Tried a new eye serum today, which is an epic fail… now I have red blotchy puffy eye bags. I Look Fabulous.
Woe #3: Coconut Mango hotel amenities. Now when I think ‘coconut mango’ I think ‘tropical vacation’. While Austin is definitely hot, it is not tropical, and the beach is a long dang way away. Coconut Mango is just not right.
SOTD is what remains of the L’Occitane Verbena lotion I brought with me (much better than Coconut Mango).
I can’t wait to get home.
You just need a good margarita! Not sure where you’re staying but I highly recommend Trudy’s, El Rancho, and Z Tejas for margs and good food! Wish I could fly in and join you! ????
Yeah Z Tejas is nice, haven’t been there in a while. (I come here for work at least once a year.) I think tonight is Chuy’s Night though, haven’t been there yet on this trip.
Chuy’s is great. You might also look up Manuel’s for a good margarita (or, when I was pregnant moons ago, an excellent limeade). They have 2 locations and good chicken mole.
Chuy’s=????????????????
Yes, she does need a good margarita!
I bring samples with me when I travel, too. (Why do we do this? Makes no sense!) Fortunately I’ve only had 1 disaster thus far…
I’m sorry I laughed at your woes. Texas in July is brutal.
Woes have to be laughed at ????
I’m a travel with samples person, too. Worst trip was the shampoo that made my hair flat and oily and would NOT wash out. I felt dirty the whole trip.
I swear that congealed shampoo I got turned into a solid glob of plastic gel that welded itself to the top of my head. It was desperate times in that shower, I tell you.
Yeah, those samples are a crap shoot, but I have a friend who gets loads of Malin + Goetz samples (mostly hair) and gives them to me. The Sage styling cream sample turned into a full sized purchase. It smells fantastic! I never risk the skin care stuff, though.
Hope you can take a cool bath at least. Sounds brutal!
Oh, see, I’m one to always bring my own hair and showering stuff — that’s not something I’m willing to risk. It’s skincare samples that I tote along. Lots of those have turned into FB purchases đ
NOT THIS ONE. (Chanel, I expect better from you!)
Ha! I risk everything by just bringing a toothbrush and toothpaste and assume the hotel will provide the rest.
I hope you do get a good margarita (or two) before you go home! ????
OH boy. I bring sample size versions of face and skincare if I have them; if not, I decant. For body lotion, I usually leave enough of a product I am using to tide me over planned vacations. I love throwing out used up containers.
Did you at least bring any good perfume samples? My sympathies to you.
My sotd was Eau de Narcisse Bleu.
I just read H&M is launching 25 (!) perfumes in august
https://www.vogue.co.uk/article/hm-fragrance-launch
And about the weather…
“Scientists say this âextremeâ weather in the northern hemisphere may soon be the norm”
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/jul/24/why-is-europe-going-through-a-heatwave
Stay cool everyone!
Yes…just posted a link about that to Twitter because trust me, not going to be announcing any collection of 25!
25 is just…..
I think a trio of fragrances is the maximum I can tolerate.
For instance, the Chanel release of Deauville-Biarritz and that-other-place-they-could-fit-into-Gabrielle storytelling đ
yes, I understand that release, even though it did not feel like a very memorable one to me.
5 is stretching it
25 is just ridiculous!
I guess in H&M they are not competing with any other brands? So it’s like Victoria’s Secret or something … their own little beauty department?
Just guessing, I’ve actually never been to an H&M.
Yup, H&M only sells the H&M brand.
Wish we had H&M in Northwest Arkansas!
We have three H&M stores in our small city (population of approx. 340.000), but I hardly visit them.
To be honest, I dont think you are missing that much. Quality of their products is not that good imo (not that surprising seeing how cheap it is).
…there is an exception though, I still wear H&M socks I bought more than 3 tot 4 years ago!
We finally got one here a few years ago and was shocked at the quality. I only went in there once.
Yeah, from fabric quality to fit…its poorly executed.
And I just cant help but thinking of the abysmal working conditions in those factories in Asia.
I know more expensive brands are not a guarantee either for better working conditions đ (a label that says ‘made In Europe’ is not always 100% made in europe)
But at least they are able produce stuff I can wear for years.
I have to say that seems kind of ridiculous. I can deal with a display of 5-6, but 25!? Especially since the non-clothing displays/bins in the NYC stores are always a sad looking mess.
Yup I also think its just ridiculous!
H&M – Ptooey. I once had a $10 off coupon and got an item for $10 to find out that the store could not handle a $0 transaction. I thought it was a bunch of crock but I have not been back since then (a long time ago…maybe 8).
Hermessence Myrrhe Eglantine
Nice.
Hermessence twins! You smell beautiful.
Testing Areej le DorĂ© Russian Oud on the left wrist, and Russian Musk on the right wrist. I think I’m in love with the Musk.
You smell good!
They are both lovely imo, the Musk and the Oud.
Indolis is beautiful as well. But I dont think I can/will ever splurge on a FB, so expensive… đ
Seeing CM8’s comment about wearing Mexican Cocoa inspired me to put on some Mediterranean Fig. It seems my solid perfume has gone off somewhat, so looked at the Pacifica website to order some of the spray and discovered, to my horror, that it has been discontinued. It wasn’t that long ago that it was still on the website, along with Spanish Amber and Tibetan Mountain Temple (also gone). Panicked search found little to nothing on Amazon or Ebay and none in our local Whole Foods. So have ordered one of each from a Canadian website called FeelGood Natural Health. Hoping it is reputable. If any Canadians are familiar, please let me know.
Not sure where you’re located, but if you’re in the Midwestern US (or Midwest-adjacent) there might be a Fresh Thyme near you. The one nearest me still has some discontinued Pacifica perfumes.
Nowhere close, I’m afraid. But I found FeelGood on Amazon and then decided to check the store’s website, which was a better deal and had all three fragrances. So hopefully since it was on Amazon to begin with, it’s reputable. Fingers crossed.
It looks legit so I think you should be OK
I guess you missed my PSA a few weeks ago about all the d/c ones….Sandalwood is gone along with Wakiki Pikaki and Lotus Garden and a few more. Vitacost had a few not too long ago (Med Fig, Sandalwood and TMT) but when I looked just now they are also sold out.
The prices are really good and the shipping to US is reasonable…you did good đ
Thanks. Yep, I saw your PSA and was indecisive at the time. Luckily, I have Tibetan Mountain Temple, but wanted a backup since it’s different from anything else. And sometimes you want an amber that’s not as herbal as Ambre Sultan
Right now I am sitting on my hands đ
Also-gorgeous teapot, but so expensive.
Yep! The teacups are cute too, and ditto.
Wearing Interlude by Amouage for this hot and humid day.
You smell wonderful, that’s my favorite Amouage although there are quite a few I haven’t sampled.
Interlude is slowly growing on me but don’t try the men’s version. Stale, wet, already smoked cigarettes is not something to be had in a perfume.
Yuck thanks for the heads up. When I first sampled Interlude, it was like I was smelling a perfume that was behind a different perfume, I don’t know how else to explain it. Not layers but like trying to smell the real perfume through gauze. Gradually I started craving it and now I’m on my 2nd decant, it’s the only perfume I’ve had that experience with.
Ew! I can cross Interlude Man off of my sample list. Thanks for the heads up.
LOL. I got a sample of Interlude Man from winning a draw (I think on Lucas’ blog). I had a sneeze fest when I first used it.
Busy!!! Today I really feel is Monday’s Ugly Little Sister.
Wearing DSH Parfum de Grasse. An aromatic floral. I get mostly beeswax and sandalwood. Some jasmine in the opening. Nice, but not fb worth. Another large sample finished.
I stopped at Bath and Body Works yesterday to try the new Lovely Dreamer. I applied some of the body lotion and sprayed the mist lavishly, even on clothes. It opened with a big blast of alcohol, then it became slightly floral. 15 minutes later everything was gone. Money saved!
Thanks for the BBW thoughts. I was thinking about stopping in there tonight. Steps saved for me!
I was not having high expectations, but I thought Lovely Dreamer was going to have a decent performance. However, give it a try if you have a chance. It might work better for you.
Well, I went anyway.. all I got from it was clean laundry smell.
Money saved!
Money saved is right đ
????
And I am channeling you and your resolve by not placing an order for the d/c Pacificas at the Canadian website Sapphire mentioned because we have TWENTY solid perfume tins from Pacifica floating around the house and if I need a fix I can just sniff those???????????? trying to be good here…
????
No way! I still have bottles of Persian Rose, French Lilac, Mediterranean Fig and Tibetan Mountain Temple. Those will keep my desire of getting back ups under control. đ
Rose and Lilac are still in the line up but the others are discontinued ????????????
Hurray for money saved! I bet that’s a streak you’d like to see continue.
Ummm! ????. I hope so, but you never know when I cannot resist a temptation anymore….
Congrats on finishing another large sample!
????
Pomegranate Noir. this is part of my ‘almost empty keep spraying’ bottles. I’ve maybe 1-2 days left.
It’s a lovely scent with the tuna-in-brine-smokey-incense combo (AKA ‘fruity’). Too bad the drydown is oily, sweet musk . . . but if a bottle fell down from the skies I’d grab it in a sec. In fact, I reckon I just jinxed PN with the aim to drain it as the smokey incense has made a massive comeback and keeps tempting me to buy maybe yet another bottle
And then later on Youth Dew for the spicy cloves and things. Ahhh.
For bottles in this category, I wait until a deal and use it to get up to the next discount level.
Greetings from Cracow! Arrived less than an hour ago after 6.5 hours train ride. It was 30-ish *C outside today. Thank God for aircon in carriage and for Chanel Paris Deauville for keeping me refreshed.
Oh, nice! Are you there for business or pleasure? I really enjoyed my trip there.
Business trip it is đ
It’s great when your perfume is up to the task! Stay cool!
A pretty town!
I think Deauville is the best of the trio, you smell elegant!
That’s a long train ride for business! Other than to Delaware for which I always take a train, the 1 of 2 or 3 times I went to DC on business was via train because my destination was a short cab ride from the train station. The train ride was about 3 hours.
I’m trying to wear perfumes that I haven’t given much attention to or given full wearings. So today I’m in Diptyque Essences Insensees Rose de Mai, a fruity, honeyed rose. It’s simple and lovely. I also used only rose face products this morning and am wearing pink statement earrings with a brightly patterned kimono top (pink, red, blue, and green), so I’ve got a bit of a theme going.
I loved the kimono inspired styles that appeared this past year.
Me too. The one I’m wearing is an actual kimono worn over a long black sleeveless dress. I bought 4 from this brand: http://www.nooworks.com. If you use the search feature to search for kimono, you can find some that are sold out. I’m wearing the Hey Hey print today. Discovering this brand a couple months ago has really amped up my wardrobe because I love prints on everything! And print mixing.
Oh, super fun! The brand/site is soooo L.A. lol. I want the panthers coveralls!
Me too, I bought one at the Nordies sale.
You look and smell great!
Thanks!
Scent cousins! I’m wearing the Diptyque LE from the year before or after – the jasmine one – also in an effort to use it before I lose it. I was reminded of it when drinking a cup of jasmine tea this morning.
I love all three in this series but jasmine and mimosa are my favorites.
In a 180 shift from yesterday’s light and transparent Hermessence, I’m house twins with Dawn in Amouage, wearing Homage Attar. If it can stand up to Oman heat it ought to do okay in Oregon.
đ
I commented to Dawn that I love Interlude but I forgot to mention that I’m in Amouage too today so house triplets. I was commando while taking a friend to the doctor this morning but when I picked up my mom for lunch, she smelled wonderful, and familiar…she was wearing Opus IV from a decant I’d given her so I came home and put some on too. A blast of incense really cuts through heat and humidity.
SOTD = Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir
Because Lucas reminded me the other day. Smoky tea incense neroli orange blossom. Despite the floral composition, this is not perfumey. Love!
I remember liking it at the store, and I was positive I had a sample of it but when I went to look for it, I realized that I confused it with another sample I got from the Guerlain counter at that time. So I’ll need to get back to the store and test it properly.
I can be your âstoreâ in case you donât get around to a B&M.
You are reminding me that I need to dig out my sample of that one.
Oh do! I would be curious to know what you think!
Sounds like Neroli Outrenoir is definitely your jam!
It sure is!
Wearing today Parfums de Rosine Rose d’Amour: it has several of my favorite notes – galbanum, ginger, rose, iris and narcissus, and I enjoy wearing it every time I put it on.
I should really retry that one. I wasn’t impressed with it the first time, but it was yeeeeears ago, and the notes list says, “Mals should like this.”
I’ll send you a sample.
Ella today. Elisa P I think reminded me of this one last week and I went back to a sample and love it. And then – ack – bought it! On sale!
On sale?!? Where? Congrats! Itâs good stuff.
Oh misleading on my part! I had a coupon at Twisted Lily. Let me know if youâd like some though as this is a lifetime supply!
Wohoo!! I finished a bottle!!! The hated bulb bottle!! SOTD – last of HG Moon Bloom from a bulb bottle. So glad he switched away from bulbs
Yippie!!!!
Great!!!????
Hurray!
And you smell great!
Congrats! I have never bought a bulb only bottle because I HATE it so much.. it is a deal breaker, period.
Gidday, gidday! Rubbish cold Wednesday here, winter churning along one dreary day after another. Damp washing wheezing itself dry in the living room, windows condensated, mould forming in the bedrooms. Aura has arrived in town and I tested it …that is, the sales assistant kept her hand on the bottle . I got the minty camphor which I liked but then it went quite sweet, too sweet for me. But I was wearing Rahat Loukhoum when I tested it so who knows really what I was smelling. In other perfume news from down here…there is none! We are in a Flowerbomb deathgrip lockdown for ever and ever and ever. Thanks Viktor and Ralph for creating a perfume that found its home in a shopping mall 45South, half way to the South Pole , where students wear pjamas to buy groceries. Me: top drawer…Ambre de merveilles.
LOL at Flowerbomb deathgrip! A quarter of my Macy’s fragrance area is dedicated to Flowerbomb.
You smell wonderful – I love lâambre
I tried Aura on a test strip and found it rather sweet as well. Too sweet for the hot and muggy weather I am facing right now. But the test strip smelled rather nice about a week later…
“Thanks Viktor and Ralph for creating a perfume that found its home in a shopping mall 45South, half way to the South Pole , where students wear pjamas to buy groceries.” — thank you, this was my evening laugh! Son is trying to make me watch David Attenborough show that is on the one hand wonderful, on the other, just one animal eating another animal, over and over and over again. Death toll at this point is worse than Midsomer Murder, and much less tongue in cheek.
It pays to be at the top of the food chain , but smallish and ugly and of no interest to trophy hunters or poachers.
I’m wearing Papillon Perfumes’ AngĂ©lique, I’ve worn it regularly over the last few years, but realised a few days ago that it had dropped out of sight. Time to rectify that.
I love Angelique and will wait for cooler weather to wear it!
I am in Wrappings today. I’ve decided it’s nice any time of year.
Good!
I’ve been hearing many good things about this lately; definitely going on my test list.
Hey Regina. I will be happy to send you some. Please drop me an email, address linked to username!
Wrappings is great stuff!
A little late today, but I got everything checked off of today’s “To Do” list, so I am rather pleased with myself.
SOTD = Poison Girl EdT, from the sample stash. It’s an orange caramel confection that has a surprisingly nice drydown. Too sweet for me in the beginning, though. Next!
Every time I go to ULTA I spray the edt, I just love the opening. It seems like a easy going scent. It’s not for me either, though.
It’s not worth dealing with a perfume where you like only half of it. Maybe one day I will sniff the EdP just for grins.
I think Mon Guerlain shares a lot of similarities with Poison Girl but is a little less sweet and heavier on lavender. The other one would be Girl of Now, Elie Saab…which I think is the best of the three, with orange notes. Or go for Hypnotic Poison.
Have you tried Poison Girl Unexpected? When an asked at my local Macyâs, I got a ânobodyâs homeâ look, even worse than a cat high on the ânip.
No – but I’ll look out for it.
EVERYTHING? That has NEVER happened to me. I have decided your to do list just isn’t comprehensive enough đ
SotD = Iris Ukiyoe
Smells like heaven, serene and ethereal. Watched My Neighbor Totoro last night. Kiki’s Delivery Service or Spirited Away tonight? Hmmm, decisions, decisions.
Oh! I’m reading Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, enjoying it very much, thanks to the kind NSTer who recommended it.
You smell wonderful and it sounds like (bahaha) I need to put Pachinko on reserve at the library!
Thanks, hajusuuri, IU was my first great HermĂšs love.
Oh, yes, I do hope you’ll read Pachinko if you have the chance. I think you will enjoy it.
Pachinko was one of my favorites from last year!
I can understand stand how it would be a favorite! Sunja’s story is grand but also tender and human.
Another crazy busy day at work. Luckily, I chose Cristalle this morning.
That IS a good one for dealing with the crazy!
It is!
Wearing some Heure Exquise after a busy day. We are starting another long stretch of heat here but least the humidity is low. Stay cool everyone.
So very late to post today but I wore Tempo and I wore it well. I lost count how many times I sprayed it actually… đ
That sounds like an excellent day!
