Hump Day! And a quick reminder that our next freebiemeet is coming up on Saturday. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: Burberry Brit Rhythm for Her.
Reminder: on 6/1, wear something milky or creamy in honor of World Milk Day (and the start of Dairy Month).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: image is model Adwoa Aboah for Burberry Spring/Summer 2018.
Gabrielle sample today. ok but nothing that stands out in it for me. But free sample is nice.
I completely agree about Gabrielle. I use my sample when I want to smell nice but inoffensive, is at least it has a use
Did the same thing…got excited for 5 minutes such a sheer sparkling opening, but thats all.
I am excited about the new releases and enjoed the Deauville clip the other day on the chanel site.
Robin, the link for Burberry Brit Rhythm for Her takes me here – https://nstperfume.com/2017/05/29/monday-scent-of-the-day-529/
I am wearing Legendary Fragrances Barista. While it does not really smell milky or have a creamy feel, it has a cappuccino note, so I think it still fits the project. š
OOPS, thanks for letting me know! Should be fixed now.
Is it a fantastic coffee note? I don’t know the brand but do love coffee scents.
The coffee note here is lovely, but it is a sweet coffee, maybe even caramel-flavored, with light floral notes in the dry-down. Despite its sweetness it never gets syrupy or cloying on my skin.
Aha. Well, I will try it if I see it!
Is that why the model is holding a coffee pot? I thought the ad was making a generic “Brit = tea” point, and was … confused.
No — I also thought the ad was making a generic point about something British. And I picked a Burberry ad because I was wearing a Burberry scent.
Wearing my favourite Malle l”Eau d’Hiver EDP over the body milk
( which seems to have been discontinued š )
Temp went to almost freezing last night, so still waiting for sunshine and warm temps
you smell lovely
You had me frantically googling, and yes, I donāt see the body milk anywhere. I just recently blind bought a manufacturerās sample of lāeau dāhiver off eBay and it is so lovely and easy to wear. I will definitely need at least a travel size when Iām done.
You smell wonderful!
SOTD is Opardu. I got a perfume compliment from a friend at work first thing this morning. A great way to start the day.
I heard from Laurie Erickson of SSS yesterday. PSA…She mentioned that she has Incense Pure available if anyone is interested?
This is the 3d mention of Opardu I have heard this week.
Is the universe telling me something ??
Yes! It’s absurdly expensive but gorgeous!
If it were up to me, there would be Opardu in every household.
Second that!
Adding to the perfume compliments: you smell gorgeous!
Thank you Elisa!
You smell fantastic!
As do you today!
Hi all!
First thing I woke to was a text from my energy provider saying today was likely to be a high usage day. Time to turn up that ac! Hopefully the rest of the city unplugs their devices regularly like I do. š
For this hot day, I chose L’Air du Samsara. Fills my oriental craving without being too loud.
You smell great! It’s a rare breed of orientals – green oriental.
It is so lovely! A forgotten gem for sure.
A lemming over Lāair du Samsara has been born.
Oh I hope you can find some to try. Sadly I’ve already tried to make a few samples but this bottle is impossible. Otherwise I’d be happy to send you some.
I’m in Sadanne and saving my one milky sample for Friday!
I am not going to do a milky week — and still trying to decide about Friday. Might go with good old Demeter Egg Nog.
I was thinking the exact same thing Robin
Truth or Dare for some blonde creaminess
Nice!
I’m wearing a tiny bit of CSP Vanille Abricot. This is turning into gourmand week.
Little story for people interested in medical oddities, relevant to this week’s poll: I had some kind of virus (I’ve decided it must have been a virus, because my husband “caught” it too) that made all liquids taste slightly creamy for a few weeks. It wasn’t unpleasant at all; in fact it made everything taste better. Water, seltzer, wine, you name it. But at first I thought I had a brain tumor or something.
P.S. Thank you to Sheri G for coming to my friend’s rescue with some CdB!!
Regarding your medical story. I would freak out, if something like that happened to me! In this case, good thing that someone else caught it too. What a strange virus…
Luckily I’m not a hypochondriac but it was so weird!
Wow! What a strange and interesting symptom! Itās really fascinating that it would make things taste better.
Yeah I almost miss it.
But is he having the same taste illusions that you had?
Yes — one day he said our tap water tasted especially delicious which is exactly how mine started!
How fascinating! The only interesting side effect I’ve ever gotten from a virus is dermatographia. The doc suggested I could use my arm as a tic-tac-toe board š
Ha!
I havenāt chosen a scent yet today. I really enjoyed the Xinu fragrances I tried yesterday, maybe Iāll go back for seconds today…
Unrelated, but whatās everybodyās system for storing and organizing perfume samples? My current system (keeping them in a large ziplock in a dresser drawer) is both ineffectual and inelegant š
I like to buy divided plastic containers (can be found at the Container Store) so I can organize them by family (e.g. roses, white florals, vintage samples, etc.)
My regular samples are stored in votive candle holders with my perfumes. My special ones that people have sent me are in plastic bags, housed in a vintage candy jar, on my perfume shelf. I don’t have a ton though.
Mine are in a plastic shoebox sized box with lid. I have a cardboard divider, with stuff I’ve tried on one side, and untested on the other. Certainly not elegant!
I have something similar to this – the middle drawers are labeled with alphabet stickers to organize by house, and the outside drawers are for decants and minis. It is not tiny but I love it!
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Akro-Mils-26-Compartment-Small-Parts-Organizer-Cabinet-10126/203538864?MERCH=REC-_-PIPHorizontal2_rr-_-100005768-_-203538864-_-N
I keep mine in a very old Maja soap box lined with some cottony fluff from other gift boxes, but there’s not much room left.
Eau des Merveilles to add a little bit of sparkly goodness to this dreary Wednesday.
Hump Day already?!
woo-hoo, I am wearing EdM too. Great noses sniff alike. š
Woo hoo! We smell great!????
You smell so wonderful
Well, Iāve created a perfume tray to choose from for June:
AA Pamplelune
AdV Signature
AdV Iris Nazarena
Impossible Iris
Infusion dāIris Absolue
Fat Electrician
Etro Shaal Nur
Clementine California
Vera Bradley Citrus Mimosa
Amouage Ciel Woman
Amouage Dia Woman
Many of these are samples or decants from recent meets that I need to try out. It seems like a lot, now that Iāve entered the list! Assembling a monthly perfume tray is one of my New Years resolutions. ????
Lovely perfume choices!
Thank you, Petunia!
Nice iris scents!
Thanks october, I tried to pick some summery ones.
Awesome!
Wow, that is amazingly organized!
Wow! You are way more ambitious than me. I probably should do a samples month but I might end up with a scrubber disaster which means it would have to be samples Iāve already tried, liked/loved and may already have bought a FB. I have a plastic Q-tips container with an opening ~ 2.5ā diameter that has used atomizer samples. Maybe Iāll just do one day a week…
Only 730 in the morning and already we are bustling around! Finally cooled off a bit during the night and is wonderfully brisk this morning. Not sure how long it will last but so grateful for Right Now!
Poor T-Rex woke up with the left side of her nose and lip all swollen and when I took a good look, I saw a few foxtails. It must have been from when she did a chin/nose plant the other day zooming after the ball. I saw 3 and got them out, but not sure if there are others already imbedded. Poor pooch was so good when I took the tweezers to her! I think I plucked a couple of hairs too????
SOTD is just a single spritz of SSS Beeās Bliss which is perfect in every way! So happy I have what I do have from Laurie! Also, while be-bopping around yesterday I came across a cute shop and the owner makes her own perfumes. She has at least 12-18, categorized as Woody, Floral, and Citrus. I sampled Teakwood Cardamom and Tropical Teakwood, which were quite nice. She has about 8 citrus based scents and I will give those a whirl next time Iām there. Predicting I may pick up a bottle because they are sensibly priced and sized. It would be a good momento, so I tell myself! Happy Humpday to all!
And I hope this isnāt considered political, Robin please delete if you feel it is, but I just want to give two thumbs up to Sanofi Pharmaceuticals for their outstanding response to Roseanne Barr. ????????????????
Deva, I spent a decade at Disney ABC, and they neverrrrrrrr moved that quickly despite too many bad behaviors to recall.
I was there during a writers strike and the impact to everthing and everone supporting a production ripples out to drycleaners, caterers, drivers.
It is considered political — not because racism is being called out, because we do have some things we can take for granted even here, like ‘racism is bad’ for instance, but because of all the rest of the stuff surrounding what is going on with Roseanne Barr and the intersection with party politics in this country.
Otherwise we end up splitting hairs: it would be saying you can mention Sanofi’s response but not the president’s response. That just doesn’t work, too much micro-policing of speech.
So no biggie but let’s just not talk about it anymore!
And I wrote this long response to clarify, for everyone, not to call you out for anything Deva.
Thank you! My lips are zipped! ????
Thank you!! I am fascinated by the whole Roseanne Barr thing and how it is playing out, so I “get” the temptation to talk about it.
Keep an eye on those fox tails – many of my dog park friends have had fox tail encounters (not at the park itself), and they are costly. Our dog required 2 surgeries because they couldn’t find it the first time. Now we try to be more vigilant (note to self: check dog today!) and keep him in a shorter coat.
I have heard horror stories. When I first got here I saw a woman with 6 (!) dogs, all of them with mesh hoods on, so I asked her about it. She really educated me! I just got back from the vet, who said it looks more like a secondary infection, so thatās a relief. (The vet did tell me sheās had multiple dogs requiring surgical intervention this week, including a poor pup with one in his EYE!!). Weāll see how things go over the next couple of days. One of those hoods may be in our future.
Perfume is always a good momento!
It is! The best kind I think. Or a book. Thatās a good one too????
So true. Perfume and books. Two of my favs.
Deets please on the indie perfumer!
Well, Iām not sure she would consider herself that. Itās a little boutique she runs with clothing, jewelry, bags, and perfume. She goes to Italy and France for the clothing and bags, and makes the jewelry and perfume herself. Iāll try to get more info next time I go. The name of the shopis Muguette RenĆ©. Hereās a link to the boutique: https://muguette-rinaldi.squarespace.com
Thanks, Deva. The website seems to not be ready for prime time — all the perfume pictures are the same. I clicked through some and wow, very interesting notes. I hope she makes sample sets!
Currently scentless right now since Zagorsk wore off. It’s been quite a morning. Even though my dog has a really good flea and tick collar, we had to pull a tick off of him. Ten minutes ago, I found a tick on my armpit that hadn’t embedded itself on me. I think I might go with LADDM today.
Yikes, ticks. LADDM would be a nice way to recover.
Is it a Saresto collar? I have one on my dog and itās very effective. It doesnāt prevent attachment, but soon after attachment the tick falls off and will die. I try to check her before I get back in the van, but I still found one in its death throes drunkenly weaving around the van seat. The attachment time is quite limited so transmission of disease is unlikely. I would prefer a method that prevents attachment, but I have her on Trifexis (heartworm, flea, gi worm preventative) and I really donāt want to switch that up, which I would have to do if I put her on an oral or topical tick med. The Saresto collars are expensive but last 8 months, are āwaterproof,ā and donāt bother the dog at all. Highly recommend if you are not using one.
We are using a Saresto collar for him but we looked it up and it will be a bad year for ticks.
Yes, a bumper crop of all insects this year. Itās tick city here, so I feel your pain. ????????????????????
I seriously have such a fear of ticks!
Oh, YEUCK! Ticks gross me out. I’m really happy that the one on you wasn’t attached. Brrrrrrrrr!
Back to work after long holiday weekend. Day 4 of rain. Thanks, tropical storm Alberto. Blind bought Moschino Cheap and Chic I Love Love yesterday in need of a mood boost. Best blind buy and bang for buck in a long time. I have D&G Light Blue, which this one’s always compared, but I’m enjoying this more. Probably because it delivers same mood lifting effect at 1/3rd of the price, lol. Happy humpday, ya’ll!
Yay for a good blind buy, and for living up to ‘cheap and chic’!
SotD = Eau des Merveilles
Zing zing zing went my heart strings! It feels great to breathe in EdM this morning.
Life with teenagers: there can never be enough cookies in this house. Yesterday I found a box of coconut macaroons, lost for a few months in a kitchen cupboard. A little stale, but guess what? A dab of Nutella covers the stale just fine. š
Found cookies is almost as good as found money! Glad you are feeling better ????
thanks, lillyjo, finding those lost cookies felt like a little gift. I made the mistake of leaving them on the kitchen counter, so they’re gone now, heh heh.
A dab of Nutella fixes just about anything. ????
That’s what I was going to say!
Exactly! š
Iāve never had Nutella. Iām afraid to try it. ????
Be afraid! Once you try it, it will be in your life forever! ????
It is delicious! But the first two ingredients are sugar and palm oil, you are wise to be afraid.
Try it once, there are single serve Nutella packages! You may decide it doesn’t live up to the hype. š
(wipes drool off keyboard)
NUTELLA
Nutella solves everythang.
I have a friend who is very emotional about her Nutella.
I know people who ate it when they were children and as a result they have *ahem” a special relationship with Nutella.
Nutella definitely makes things better. š
You smell great! And I do love my Nutella….from a spoon right out of the jar haha!
This is exactly why I havenāt tried it! ????
haha, yes, Nutella + spoon is my preferred method too.
Yes to Nutella! I use it to dirty up oatmeal.
I’m trying out Hermes Poivre Samarcande. One of my new samples, that I have never heard of. I like the woodiness, but it is a bit cologne-y for me. I think I will revisit it in the fall.
It layers nicely with some of the other Hermessences, but I would agree that on its own it’s a bit cologne-y.
Thanks for the validation of my first impression. It feels good to know I kinda sorta knew what i was smelling,????
I’m wearing Ormonde Woman, which isn’t creamy, just green and wonderful.
I tried a couple of the Astier de Villatte colognes yesterday, I nearly wish I hadn’t. They are very nice.
That one is on my full bottle list. You smell great!
I like the Astiers, too.
I basically want all of them š
You smell wonderful.
Day 2 of painting the powder room. Lost a few brain cells yesterday, and am going to design a painting set up with a little more ventilation today. However, even the primer looks better than the high gloss camo green. I would have gotten a first paint coat on yesterday, but the primer made visible some areas that I needed to go over again with some joint compound (where I removed a medicine cabinet and patched the drywall). That is now fully dry, so I’m hoping that today will go a little more smoothly, and I can get two coats of paint on. If I’m really lucky, all I will need is one.
I’m wearing a tiny spritz of By Kilian Gold Knight.
Go you! And yeah, preserve those brain cells!!
Big fan is now placed in the doorway!
Painting is always so much more work than you think it will be, and bathrooms are the worst! Very good luck with the rest of the job.
Isn’t it just? I thought, “Hey, I can probably whip that together in a day or so,” but it’s been a week long process thus far (granted, I’m not in a rush), and will probably be another week before I put the lights and other fixtures back up.
Bathrooms ARE the worst because they are generally small and closed in!
I’m impressed you can do all that! I’m hopeless at home improvement jobs.
I am trying to get better at it. I have a friend who is really good at fixing and renovating, and she eggs me on- er, supports me in my endeavors.
Go you! It’s definitely worth it to take your time and do a paint job right, since bad ones stick out.
Good on you for DIY!
Have you tried Woman in Gold? After initially preferring Gold Knight, I did a 180 and now LOVE Woman in Gold.
I tried both, and definitely preferred Gold Knight – I thought it was much more interesting and alluring. I’ll have to give Woman in Gold another try, to see if I experience the same turnaround. š
I am wearing Providence Perfume Co Violet Beauregarde today and drinking a cup of Earl Grey tea. I keep thinking today is Tuesday because of the Memorial Day holiday, this past Monday. I’m closer to the weekend — yay for Wednesday š
Today’s SOTD is Coriandre by Jean Couturier. This week might be Chypre-week – the weather has changed from warm/sunny to foggy and cool and this is wearing perfectly on my skin… might chose Greenwitch by Roxana Illuminated for tomorrow…
Coriandre, my old love š
SOTD will be terracotta. Oye ve leg cramps in the middle of the night.
Football coach used to have my sons eat bananas for the potassium, to help with cramps.
I had 2 bananas yesterday!
Coconut water has tons of potassium. Also potatoes – more even than bananas! Too bad I think coconut water tastes gross š I had the worst leg cramps at night when I was pregnant – it sucks.
Coconut water is gross! I cannot swallow it.
And I thought I was the only one who hated coconut water!
I also think it’s abso disgusting.
Me too; it is revoltingly vile.
Calcium, magnesium and zinc supplements are supposed to help relieve leg cramps.
You must take all three.
Petunia, I have that magnesium that you mix with hot water to drink every night before bed. I use to drink it religiously as it is supposed to help one sleep, but I fell off the wagon.
Time to get the jar back out again.
I think you can find Cal/Mag/Zinc combination supplements.
I used to be ambitious enough to make a green smoothie for breakfast every morning. I used coconut water, kale. spinach and a small banana but I could never drink it by itself. It has a musty, funky smell. blech!
I think I heard that kiwi fruit are high in potassium. Big bummer on the leg cramps… I had them once, and they were horrible.
My mom uses a magnesium oil spray which she said immediately un-cramps her toes and/or calves. She heard about it through either Dr. Oz or The Doctors. I’ll send you the Amazon product link via email me if you email me. Use at your own risk.
Up & out early. Just in & applied Box of Eels. I think creamy or milky perfumes, may be the hardest category for me. To me, only sandalwood makes a scent creamy. To someone else, it could be a different note. I think that’s one of the reasons scent is so personal. Others choices make you smell a perfume in a new way. Thanks for new ideas.
Twins! You smell as good as I do! š
The event last night was fun, for those who wanted to know. It was held in this small, beautiful cathedral at Greenwood Cemetery. It was a female variety show centered around women’s stories and voice. Kaki King was the musical performance and was incredible. Actress Amber Tamlyn did a spoken word piece, Lorris Davis (married to Damien Schols, who was a death row inmate for over like 18 years) told a story, and there was a comedienne, and a writer. We took a little walk around the cemetery after. Very peaceful at night.
SOTD is Idylle Love Blossom since I wasn’t craving anything in particular and this one’s light and easy.
Glad you had a nice time last night. I need to pull out the ILB decant that you gave me. It’s pretty and perfect at this time of year.
That does sound interesting!
That sounds so interesting!
Thanks for the update on your event!
Sounds like so much fun!!
I adore Amber Tamblyn.
X
Last night sounds cool. What perfume did you end up wearing?
Wearing JM Ginger Biscuit again since it was so nice yesterday, and it’s still grey and chilly here. May Grey & June Gloom – the only time of the year the weather in San Diego isn’t better than the rest of the country š
I wish I had tried this while it was in stores – someone mentioned it a week or 2 ago (johanob?) and I just got a decant. I see a few bottles on eBay, so may grab one.
Yup it sure was me!Haha!
I LOVE Ginger Biscuit!I got mine when they were originally released.Such a fun scent, and you smell delicious!
X
Busy, busy working day! Coffee and more coffee. Wearing Ineke Poet’s Jasmine from the last swapmeeet (thanks Rayleighblue). Very nice and refreshing jasmine scent. Citrusy and green in the opening with a peachy fruit touch. Nice and simple for a very humid day.
That was a nice one.
In Dior Dune today, which I blind bought for a super price when I bought my decant of Ciel d’Opale. I like it, but I don’t know why – in fact, when I sniff my wrists, I don’t even find it that pleasing – but something keeps drawing me to it. It’s very definitely not creamy in any way.
I’ve been having fun trying some Estee Lauder scents at our local Dillards, where they will make up samples of any fragrance for you (they just don’t carry that many that interest me). I think a Beyond paradise shower gel would be very nice. Off to check if that exists…
Dillards makes fragrance samples? Thanks for the heads up!
Ours has signs all over the cosmetics floor saying you can ask for a sample of a fragrance, or foundation, etc…so I have boldly asked and they haven’t batted an eye.
They/I did when I worked for them back in the 1990’s. We had a larger selection of perfumes than most stores, back in the day.
Dune is definitely a compelling and weird scent!
Meh on the Burberry Soring/Summer collection. It looks like she dressed for spring in Alaska and summer in San Francisco.
SOTD = LM Parfums Sensual Orchid
I initially got a sample of this from OsswaldNYC and it languished in the sample sea. Then I went sniffing with Asali (thesoundsofscent.com) when I was in Copenhagen pre-cruise several years ago and she tried it on skin. When we sat down for a cup of coffee, I kept smelling this lush creamy fragrance. Almost 2 years later, I saw that Osswald had this on sale and I decided to take the plunge, bought the bottle with intention to split it and I did!
And speaking of splits, I have 2 pending that I had been too busy to follow through on ā Mugler Aura and Tauer les annes 25. I will email those who had expressed interest. I am also gathering interest in potentially splitting one or both of the new Hermes perfume oils (Cardamusc and Musc Pallida) – theyāre $375 for a 20mL bottle and I would like to split out 10-12mLs each if possible; these would be ālarge samplesā ???? for me.
Oh, did I tell you I would be interested in the Tauer split? Canāt remember because Iām old and some days I donāt get a chance when to read all the comments. So if you have room for another taker, count me in!
Agree with your “Meh”.
I’m having a hard time figuring out what makes a scent creamy or milky. In fact I don’t think I know of one I’d describe that way, but I must have one or have tried one.
SOTD is Rahele which I applied lightly because I had an appointment to see my orthopedist. As expected he recommended surgery so now I’ll be spending this week getting pre-op tests done. Until I get cleared through those I won’t know my surgery date. It’s nerve-racking.
The other day when I mentioned only wanting to eat sweets like strawberries, somebody mentioned the idea of strawberry shortcake. Thanks! I made some last night, very decadent with butter and cream. There’s a photo of it here in case anyone wants to look: https://www.flickr.com/photos/94283635@N00/42457628861/in/dateposted/.
It looks soooo delicious! Craving for some now!
I LOVE strawberry shortcake. The strawberries here aren’t good enough for making desserts – also plan on a strawberry rhubarb pie soon.
As for creamy scents, there are a few with milk or cream in the name: Jo Malone Sweet Milk, Philosophy Fresh Cream, CSP Matin Calin, I even saw one at Old Navy recently called Sweet Cream & Honey. I don’t think I have any I would call creamy either. Someone mentioned yesterday that La Danza Delle Libellule smells exactly like strawberries and whipped cream – based on your dessert choice, sounds like it would be right up your alley!
As for milky and creamy scents, these links may help:
http://perfumeshrine.blogspot.com/2011/10/definition-creamy-milky-lactonic.html
https://www.fragrantica.com/notes/Milk-199.html
Lots of sandalwood scents are creamy. For example, Indochine, which is very popular here, is quite creamy in my opinion.
Good luck with your preparation to surgery.
That strawberry shortcake looks delicious! Reminds me that I haven’t had any in years. I should do something about that this summer.
Good luck with surgery prep and your pre-op tests.
Yummy!!
Scrolling through your flicker…that Margarita you had looks like serious business!!Double Yum!Haha!
X
Good luck with all the pre-op stuff and I hope you get a date soon!
Strawberries! I got a 2 lb box or organic strawberries from Costco. I had been eating them just washed, halved and drizzled with balsamic vinegar glaze. Yum!
Hey, does anybody who is here in the US have access to Les Senteurs Gourmandes perfumes? I am specifically looking for Tendre Madeleine and Cafe Tonka. I see this line very occasionally at online discounters (but not the scents I want) and the company website doesn’t appear to ship to the states. I’m trying to avoid paying as much for int’l shipping as the bottles themselves cost.
A day late in reading this, but I have an unloved bottle of Tendre Madeleine that I can send to you. Just know that Iām a horrible procrastinator when it comes to mailing things. I recently managed to get down all my saved perfume boxes, though, and thatās half the battle. Email me at eldiyen920 in the land of geeee male if youāre interested!
A beautiful sunny day here, wearing FM Cologne Indelebile.
So glad you got a sunny day!
Such a crazy few days at work. Being away from work is all fun and games until you come back! I was in Bois des Iles yesterday and it was so good I wore it again today. Good grief, it just hits the spot sometimes, doesn’t it?
Also, off topic, does anyone have any shampoo/conditioner they just love? I’m always looking for the perfect ones haha!
I have fine hair and really like Kelp & Mint shampoo and conditioner by 100% Pure. It’s difficult for me to find a product that is moisturizing without weighing down my hair. They have quite a few other products for people who have other issues, like dry hair, etc. I also really like that their products are not full of chemicals.
I say this as I spray on more perfume but at least I pick my own poison. ????
I also have fine hair, but it has a tendency to get oily. I alternate between 2 shampoos from Bumble & Bumble: the Thickening Volume Shampoo, and the Surf Foam Wash Shampoo. I usually don’t use conditioner unless my hair reaches a certain length. Then I use it only on the very ends.
Iām in Pacifica Persian Rose today. Itās not milky or creamy, but it is just right for a Hump Day.
Have a good one, peeps.
Persian Rose is just plain good!
Right?!
Persian Rose always sounds so appealing but I’ve never come across it.
I can’t remember if I found my bottle at a very large Whole Foods in Baltimore, or if I had to order it from Pacifica’s website.
There are some Pacifica products ar my local Target but, unfortunately, not PR.
They carry the perfumes at Ulta and Sprouts Farmers Market as well. And Pacifica itself has the associated body butter, etc. (and a loyalty program).
I’ve been out of the loop this week so chose to sample Zoologist Elephant for the second time today. Marvelously green but might be too fleeting, thanks to their generous samples I’m going to try really pouring it on next time.
I love Elephant – what I find is that the green is super strong for a few minutes. After that it fades to a quiet woody aura but the green is still there for a long time (maybe 8 hours on me) if I put my nose close to my skin. Hope you get better mileage next time!
31 Rue Cambon today for a potentially-difficult doctor visit today. I am SOOO TIRED of having my doctor dismiss all my symptoms that aren’t the usual cold/fever sickness. I’m utterly done, y’all. Da**it.
Was due for a physical, but I was determined not to see the same guy who’s been blowing off my “please check my thyroid level” and “my feet hurt. like, a LOT” and “what is this weird rash on my arms?” requests for several years. I put my foot down with the office manager, and saw a different doctor in the same practice. While I didn’t get *everything* I wanted, I got most of it: a referral to an allergist to test for nickel allergy, a referral to an endocrinologist to test for thyroid disorder (runs on both sides of my family, and in all four cases was not diagnosible with just a TSH check), an order for an x-ray for the finger I banged on the coffee table two months ago, which still hurts, and a recommendation for lots of ibuprofen (about four times what I’d take on my own) to deal with my tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, and plantar fasciitis.
Sorry for the venting. I smell great.
Yesterday, I wore No. 19 for the funeral of the husband of a childhood friend. My heart’s broken for her.
Good for you for standing firm at the Doctors, and I’m very sorry for your friends loss and your broken heart.
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe all you’re going through right now. I’m so sorry. That’s impressive you stood up for yourself at the doctor’s. I too am dealing with a lot of doctor and medical stuff and it makes me want to hide my head under a pillow and wish it would all just go away. Good for you to insist on answers. I’m also very sad for your friend. Keep up the good efforts and the good smells.
Sorry for your friend and you.
I hope you will finally get some answers from the doctors.
But you smell classy and elegant!
Hey, with all that on your plate, a little venting is probably one of the healthiest things you can do. Best of luck with your doctor odyssey. And I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s husband… my sympathies.
You smell great. I am so sorry to hear of your friend’s husband and I am glad you stood up for yourself at the doc. Hugs.
You’re allowed to vent about bad service, especially regarding your health!
Otherwise:You smelled great!
X
You go girl! You smell like you mean business.
Iām so sorry about your friendās husband.
You go Mals! Thyroid issues run in my family as well. My mother had problems and so do I. I hope you get some resolve. All these minor ailments add up. My only male doc is my Endocrinologist and we’ve had several disagreements over the years.
Oh my gosh! So sorry about the funeral! That seems like it was a youngish person, no? Thatās always worse, I think.
Also, forgot to mention that you may want to do a bit a research into turmeric and MSM in place of the ibuprofen. I value my kidney function! ????
You smell absolutely fabulous, mals! My sympathies for your friendās loss.
Iām sorry to hear about your doctor problems. I completely empathize. The common phenomena in medicine of neglecting womenās health issues (and ignoring women patients) and underdiagnosing thyroid conditions in women really make my blood boil. Thyroid conditions run in my family, and I have one relative who spent 20+ years(!) telling her doctors she felt constantly rundown and just not right before one of them listened and knew what to test her for. Iāve got my own experiences, too… Anyway, many hugs to you, and hang in there and donāt stop advocating for yourself!
Good for you on the doctor. They really donāt listen sometimes. Iām so sorry for your friendās loss. Unimaginable.
Been there, you have my sympathies!
It’s occurred to me that I associate perfume with colour more than I realise, as I sit here wondering what warm and wintry scent goes with blue. Iris and violet are good in summer. Beloved has come to mind as something that can never be wrong š
And did you think of one??
Hello Y’all…Been busy the last few days, but finally slowing down a bit…
Wearing Ego Facto Poopoo Pidoo and loving it!
Hope everyone is well…back tomorrow!
and you smell great!
Hello NST! I have good news and bad news about my clothes washer. The very nice tech determined that it could be fixed, that it wasn’t complicated, and that it would NOT cost an arm and a leg! The bad news is that the parts needed have to be ordered. So I have a repair appointment next week. It’s a big relief to know what is wrong.
SOTD = back in Carnal Flower today for more muggy weather. Hey, if it ain’t broke, why fix it?
LOL. I considered CF for today but had a hankering for Sensuak Orchid instead!
I’m kind of wondering why I waited so long to try CF in warm weather.
Ha! Great news about your washer.
I breathed a big sigh of relief after the tech left!
Good washer news! Better to wait on the cheap than get it fixed stat for an arm and a leg a three teeth. BAD weather news. Iām dreading summer. ????
It’s been a wet and squishy May where I am at. Hoping that June will dry out a little bit!
Yay for the cheap fix!
Not sure I’d call it a cheap fix. But it is a lot less expensive than the alternative, which would have been getting a new washer.
Today I wore Axe.Yup.
Oud and Vanilla.
Cheap and cheerful.Surprisingly not bad for what it is.
Like Kevin said:I’m also not a perfume snob!Haha!

right on!!
Your comments make me smile. Your SOTD reminds me of several men that I knew as young teens. That age group seems to gravitate towards Axe. ????
Nothing wrong at all with a cheap & cheerful!
High five!
Hi NST! Long time no see. I’ve been settling into the new job I started earlier this month and I’m thrilled to say that almost exactly 2 years after I graduated from library school, I have officially become a librarian! Very excited to join the community of librarians here at NST š
SOTD is from a sample of Tom Ford Mandarino di Amalfi Acqua. My feeling about it is: meh. Perhaps the original Mandarino di Amalfi is better.
Burning perfume question: Has anyone tried Tauer Les Annees 25? If I like LADDM, but haven’t tried many other Tauer scents, is it worth getting a sample?
Two strong forces on NST are Nurses and Librarians!
Love that.

I’ve noticed that there are many teachers as well.
Hey congratulations! Librarians are like many of the professions dominated by women; underpaid, under valued, and simply amazing.
I think the sample is a steal for the price. If you donāt like it, you can swap it out for something else during the formal swap meet or just create an informal one yourself. Iām dying to try it!!
Thank you!!
I did order a sample š Will report back I get a chance to try it!
Congratulations on officially becoming a librarian! ???? ???? ????
Congrats and much happiness in your new position!
Congratulations on the job and settling in!
Congrats! Much admiration for you.
Congratulations!
My BIL got a Masters in Library Science and managed to get a few months’ worth of subbing at an elementary school. This was 15 years ago and he has not worked a day since those gigs for no other reason than he believes he is overqualified (hmmmph) for the positions that offered him interviews. Basically, he’s just a lazy bum living off of my sister.
Libraries are a tough field to break into, but an attitude like that would make it nearly impossible! After graduating, I submitted dozens and dozens of job applications and still ended up in a job that I was technically overqualified for – but I’m happy it worked out that way because that job ended up being one of the most useful and instructive work experiences I’ve ever had. Plus I was internally promoted to my current position. I doubt I would have gotten this job if I hadn’t already known and worked with everyone on the search committee.
I went with Oliver & Co. Dunard today. There is tuberose, but my nose detects other notes, too. Nothing else really jumps out to announce its presence, but it all blends nicely, I think.
Wearing a few drops of Shalimar extrait tonight. I felt like celebrating a bit because I had a much better day today than yesterday.
So many things went wrong on Tuesday. I’ve been at my job 15 years, and yesterday was one of the worst days ever. I started to question and second guess everything I did.
Then someone said there was a full moon out; I felt a tiny bit better but still didn’t sleep well last night.
Ahhh…sorry for the bad day. The good news is hopefully itās a once every 15 years anomaly…. I like that you celebrated a good day in such a perfect way.
Glad to hear that today was much better for you than yesterday was. Hopefully you will get a good night’s sleep tonight. ????
Good that things are on the up and up!
