Happy Almost-Friday and happy Alien Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Thierry Mugler Angel Muse, very lightly, by perfumer Quentin Bisch (shown above).
Reminder: 4/27 will be Next Generation Friday...wear something from a younger perfumer.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Ahhh. You smell great, Robin.
Why thank you LizzieB!
I am wearing Terroni by Orto Parisi from a sample. Nice smoky/earthy scent, even with that synthetic feel.
Argh, can’t remember if I tried that one! But don’t think so.
Wearing Prada Iris ( Original formulation) by perfumer Daniela Roche-Andrier.
This is a favourite office scent of mine – powder, iris and a good dash of citrus. I smell neat, polite, professional, and really good.
We’re cousins! I don’t think I’ve smelled yours. How does it compare to Infusion?
I misspoke – I had meant to type that I had the original Infusion d’Iris, and not the 2015 revamp. The bottle I am wearing has a balsam undernote I enjoy, but don’t get from the 2015 version
beautiful !
Hey Cousin!
I walked out of the door to go to work and realized I forgot to spray perfume. I am glad I keep a stash of samples in my desk drawer.
Whadja find?
Back to work, and back in Fleur du Peau. I know this is marketed to the younger perfumista, but this Gen Xer likes it anyway.????
This Gen Xer really likes it as well. It may be my “you survived another school year” treat in June.
Excellent! And well deserved- my parents are both retired teachers, so teachers are near and dear to my heart.????
Wearing Donna Karan Gold. Intoxicating Lily. Perfect not only for such a beautiful day outside, but also to battle this annoying cold I officially have now. Be well everyone!
Love Gold.
Me too, such an under rated gem! u smell divine.
It is such a beautiful scent. I keep forgetting to wear it more often, but when I do I enjoy it greatly.
That sucks, being officially sick. ???? I hope that you shake it off ASAP.
Thank you! It is awful, but I also hope it goes away very soon!
I am wearing Le Maroc Pour Elle, from a new discovery set. Nice.
Le Maroc is one of my favorite Tauers. I have to be in a certain mood to wear it, though.
I’m in Un Jardín Sur Le Nil to cheer me up for a VERY boring Corporate training.
You smell great! It is one of my old favorites, and I hope it makes your day better.
At least you smell amazing 🙂
You smell super great!
My daughter and I watched 3 bunnies playing in the neighbors yard this morning. Yay spring! I didn’t know what i was going to wear, but now seeing it’s Alien day. Sotd is Alien eau Sublime. I smell like sunshine ????
Tiny baby bunnies were a sure sign of spring at the university I attended. They were such a cute study break!
Cuteness overload! ????
Mmmm I haven’t smelled that one, but if it smells like sunshine I need to!
Robin, I think I’ll join you in Angel Muse! I haven’t win it in awhile.
I went to a book signing last night for the nicest author, Masatsugu Ono. I haven’t read his book yet (though my friend said it was one of her favorite books of last year) but we ended up talking about books for hours! I can’t wait to read it.
Oh yay!
And will have to go google your author…
He’s a fascinating person. We ended up taking him out to dinner. We talked about contemporary and modern Japanese literature, and he asked us about exciting American authors. He said he is close friends with Hiromi Kawakami, another brilliant Japanese writer, and we were thrilled! We told him to bring her next time.
He’s really fascinating. He’s a literary critic, literature professor, and a French-to-Japanese translator. I can’t wait to read his book; I’ll report back.
Oh good, do!
Lion Cross Point?
Yes! To hear hime talk about it was really lovely. I can’t wait to read it.
I went with Vitriol d’Oeillet today. It just hits the spot sometimes. I didn’t realize Quentin Bisch did Angel Muse. Maybe I’ll wear that tomorrow.
He did — and he worked with Huclier on A*Men Ultra Zest too.
SotD is Ophelia, by Heeley
This was a blind buy (it was almost free), its not a love, but i really like it.
There is some white musk in it but fortunately its very soft and sheer. This is mostly a light and friendly tuberose/jasmine/water(y) lily.
These pretty white flowers do not fit the name imo. When I think of Ophelia I think of the character from Hamlet who killed herself. Not very pretty imo…
Agree the name doesn’t fit. I really like it, too.
So, I guess, Cio Cio San, Carmen or, G-d forbid, Medea are out of question as perfume names? 😉
Well, i think Ophelia is fine for a perfume name!
but thinking of Hamlet (icant be the only one who makes that connection) a darker/more complex and sinister fragrance comes to mind. And this perfume is a very carefree an clean scent.
I’m wearing Angela Flanders Tuberose, which I got in the swap. It’s got a nice banana popsicle note as seen in Intense Tiare.
I kinda love that banana popsicle thing, and I kinda hate it too (well, ever since Chem 101 lab when we made isoamyl acetate).
Banana is a love-hate note for me too — I don’t like when white florals smell very faintly of banana but if it’s really bright, neon yellow then I’m in.
I am wearing TM Angel Eau Sucree, layered with small sprays of JM Wood Sage & Sea Salt.
That sounds like an interesting combo. Are they working together?
Yes. This is the second time I have tried this combination. The first time was a business dinner, and I received a few compliments. One person said I smelled exquisite 🙂
Oh, that sounds intriguing!
I went with Regime des Fleurs Turquoise today. I needed to smell its champaca plus grassy dried flower notes. That is what I get from this one and I really enjoy it.
Ooh, that sounds enticing. Gotta check it out.
That sounds gorgeous. It’s now on my try list!
Happy Almost Friday Day!
SOTD is Bvlgari Omnia for another day in a classroom with no a/c or ventilation. Come on friday!
Cousins in Omnia Crystalline!
You both smell great!
Needed a comfort scent this AM and went for Chinchilla. Perfect coziness.
Love Chinchilla!
I didn’t understand it when I first tried it. The first 20 seconds felt like a mouthful of cat hair, not in a good way. But gosh now I love it so much. After applying, it just gets better and better!
How’s the finger?
Despite my son’s imploring me to “cut it off,” it’s still there. Here’s hoping the antibiotics that are making mischief with my tummy will start messing with my finger very soon!
Poor you. Antibiotic induced sickness is miserable…like watching Mary Poppins ‘spoon full of sugar’ sunny nanny suddenly transform into a cackling hag alter-ego
Mary Poppins + antibiotics = Wicked Witch of the West ?? 🙂 🙂 🙂
Maybe probiotics would be a good idea for gut health..????????
I hope your gut and your finger both feel better soon!
Kombucha stat!
I knowwww. I am drinking some horrible concoction that is promising me raw organic probiotics by the boatload. Let’s just say I am not a fan.
Kombucha is not tasty but it sure makes my tummy feel good
Do you think Chinchilla would pair well with a big white floral scent, one that’s heady and not sparkling?
You know, I am a terrible layerer. Chinchilla has some floral in it, to my nose. I can see the pairing (or at least a woman in a chinchilla stole with a big white magnolia tucked behind her ear…). Give it a whirl and report back !
Still wading through the sample sea. Today I finished off Omnia Crystalline, which is actually quite nice, and worth a sniff for anyone who needs inoffensive, office-type fragrances. I think it smells a bit like pears, although they are not included in the notes.
Definitely pears.
Les Liquides Imaginaires Dom Rosa by Sonia Constant (next generation project).
Lovely rose scent, poor longevity.
I like that one, but yes, it’s very short-lived.
Since I’m giving a performance review today of someone who is a well-known fragrance-phobe, I’m wearing the oh-so understated Infusion d’Iris Absolu. Yes, I am a nice boss.
Very nice boss. 🙂 You smell lovely.
I’m in Infusion d’Iris edp, circa 2015 (I think), so I guess that makes us scent siblings.
You both smell wonderful cousins 🙂
You are indeed a nice boss then!
You smell wonderful!
Decanting Lubin Epidor today and washing all the terrific remnants I got for 70% off at the fabric store moving sale yesterday. 🙂 I smell like plums, mimosa, toasted nutty bread, and satisfaction.
Yum! I really like Epidor- such a lovely fragrance!
And what are your plans for the remnants?
AH! The remnants shall provide: at least one apron if not two, a clothespin bag (the one I made several years ago has HAD IT), and several grocery bags.
And I also bought flannel with cute cartoon dogs on it to make Bookworm a pair of sleep pants. 😀
Enjoy! Sleep pants. Excellent.
Happy Thursday!
1) SOTD: Rose Anyonyme by Atelier Cologne. From a sample! Rose forward cologne, very fresh, and suits the very hot day we will have today!
2) Co workers complianing about the heat wave. BAH! As if we were not all shivering in bed just a couple of weeks ago! And now it’s the last day of the heat wave- to celebrate, I am gonna make some more vegan ice cream and invite people over.
Yesterday it must have been 80 something here in Napa and people were wearing puffer jackets! ????
My people! ????☺????
LOL Californians for the win! LOL
Rose Anonyme was travel spray worthy for me. ????
I can see that! Just wonderful and fresh!
It’s gorgeous in the summer time!
The days are full of everything right now, with *all* the aprilness of weather (bright sun, hail, drizzle, torrential rain, wind, warm overcast, the works.) Time for something that shifts and changes just as fast: MEM.
A pleasing distraction while I’m taking sneaky slices out of my day-job work day to do a frankly terrifiying how-many-words-a-day calculation. This is to see in just how much trouble I’m going to be on my thesis deadline next year. Lots, seems to be the answer. Lots and lots.
You can do it! One word after the other!
Thank you! Yep, I rather believe I can… some days. Most days.
Deep breaths! It will be fine, honest. Once the structure is clear it will all fall into place.
Thanks, Kanuka! I am about to tackle a complete overhaul of my structure plan. I’ve known the old one wasn’t fitting any more… but have been fearfully avoiding that task, just trying to get writing again to gain momentum after an year-long interruption in my studies. I think the new shape might be starting to emerge. If only I could follow the traditional IMRaD for this… but, nope.
(I had the pleasure of listening to a presentation by your compatriot Helen Sword last week, who writes so incredibly well about writing.)
Outlines. Can’t overstate the importance of good outlines.
So my supervisor keeps telling me! I am playing the post-it note shuffle for at least the next week to get a new framework. It’s almost making sense!
(Is it my imagination or are there quite a few academics and writers in these fragrant halls?)
Be patient and confident. You can do it.
Thanks, perfumelover, for the encouragement. My confidence is starting to come back after a very sticky patch of doom and gloom.
You will get it done! Slow and steady can do amazing things with large, unpleasant tasks.
You smell amazing! Also you’ve got this.
I’m in Parfum d’Empire Le Cri today. Not from a young perfumer but from a super talented one 😉
SOTD Copious amounts of the zingy, Springy CdG Lily. It’s a good wake-me-up perfume.
Oh, that Lily, she’s a winner! 😀
On day three of SL fumerie turque. I read just pure joy in Koyels bell jars captured on the Paris trip and decided to go use my own.
I must admit I smell fabulous.
My bottle of Ta’if arrived last night. Still in red package. Mmmmm.
Speaking of alien ???? my sister sent in an ancestry spit kit and we are all teasing her that this is what we will learn about her!
I recently did an Ancestry spit kit and got the results, and they contained some surprises. In addition to the expected Great Britain and Western Europe I also had some bits from Finland, Russia, the Caucasus and Scandinavia. Nobody in our family ever mentioned anything of that unusual part of family background. So now I’m intrigued and want to do some more family tree research.
I have seen some TV coomercials for spit kits @ a special price no doubt for mothers day. I might order one today
59 instead of 99 dollars… no affiliation!
Its fun saying spit kit.
We did not get any terribly exciting surprises, but a few little ones.
One of my friends who is something of a bigot discovered that his ancestry is about half of a group he’s bigotted against. His mother had been adopted so they knew nothing of her background. Well now they do 🙂 Surprise! Ho ho ho, life can hit the nail on the head sometimes 😉
Perfect.
Ironic and wonderful lol
Hey Calypso, that’s a very similar result to my older sister and I except I got the Iberian Peninsula and she got the Caucasus. I’ve enjoyed it a lot and it has piqued my interest to find out more, and just read more history in general. Our younger sister has not yet done it… we told her we both had a very small percentage of wolf 😉
I got some Iberian! that was my wild card – im attributing it to the Spanish Armada. I would also like learning more history tho – and I think I’d like to get a different brand kit to compare the results.
I love Spain and wouldn’t mind finding out I’m related to Gaudi! Haha!
I want a bottle of Ta’if! I love it so much.
(I don’t know Fumerie Turque, but it sounds lovely.)
It is my first and most loved Uncle Serge…followed by Borneo and Chergui.
I’ll have to give it a try.
Haha 🙂 I am still getting so much joy out of those. The number of times I’ve given myself dainty little dabs of Santal de Mysore….
I thought I would LOVE Fumerie Turque–it sounds right up my alley!–but it was a touch too heavy for me? I’m not even totally sure what I mean by that. Maybe it was because I was in a perfume shop, but I was shocked that I didn’t fall immediately in love with it.
That’s so fantastic that you’re enjoying them, Koyel. I used to wonder who would want to dab when they can spray, and then I bought BdI parfum, and I loooooove giving myself “dainty little dabs.” I can only imagine how much pleasure one can get out of a bell jar. Sigh.
I ALSO bought some BdI parfum (on the same trip during which I got my bell jars), and I ALSO looooove dabbing it daintily! And I ALSO didn’t understand why anyone would dab instead of spraying 🙂 It really is satisfying to dab. And it makes me feel wealthy and/or grown-up!
Haha! So wealthy! So grown up!
I’m in l’Artisan Parfumeurs Histoire d’Orangers today, which is by Marie Salamagne, who is ~41 and therefore probably pretty young as perfumers go. (I’ve also been using a lot of female-made scents lately!) I hadn’t heard much about this scent, but a very kind NSTer suggested it during the swapmeet, and I jumped at the opportunity, as I can’t stop won’t stop with those fleur d’oranger scents. What, though, is the story of the orangers? What do you think they’re saying to each other? I’d be thrilled if we one day discovered that trees with strongly scented flowers and leaves were not simply saying, “Heeeeeere, pollinators! Come heeeeere!” but were also communicating to each other.
How do you like it? I thought I had a sample, but mine is of a dc L’artisan called fleurs d’oranger. Histoire was mentioned to me by Tiffanie (I think?) as another orange blossom scent worth trying.
It’s really lovely. It’s pretty linear and simple? But I don’t mean that as a put-down. It’s linearly, simply beautiful. Not too far from just standing in front of an oranger and inhaling all day.
Oooh, that sounds like heaven.
Agree with Koyel, Histoire d’Orangers is simply beautiful. I have a sample I will quickly use up, and it’s already on my FB wish list. 😀
Your pollinators comment made me smile. ????
Hi Robin,
Angel, worn lightly (1 spritz), is quite nice!
SOTD is Knowing by EL. 🙂
Knowing is lovely!
Seriously, I am wearing less than a full spray 🙂
Wow, and the Angel is still going strong?
Every time I try to put on less than a full spray of something, I end up with a giant puddle of perfume on my skin that must be more than a spray would’ve been 🙁 I have yet to master the art of a partial spray.
I either decant, or spray onto a finger and dab the amount I want.
Good morning,
I’m in a teeny back of the hand dab of Tauer’s L’air du desert marocain – I needed to know what the fuss was about because all the other Tauers I had tried were not for me – but this one, I get it! I think this is a great scent for creative work, which I sort of have to do today – I have to create some power point slides for a short presentation next week, and already the word “power point” makes my heart sink.
On another note, my Cap Neroli arrived yesterday from Twisted Lily, super fast, was supposedly backordered but not so, AND they kindly included Frangipani by Ormonde Jayne and the L’air du desert for samples even though my order was small ($40 or so after their sale discount). So nice of them!
They’re pretty good about including samples with any non sample purchases. Nice ones to try, too, and glad you finally found that OJ!
I’m wearing B of E parfum this morning, to celebrate the last day of warm weather before Portland goes dank and rainy again. Speaking of dank and rainy, I am thinking of going to London to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (plus other things and perfume shopping, of course.) Has anyone seen it there?
So beautiful! If I had to choose a single perfume from my collection to keep forever and let all the others go, it would be B of E parfum.
It got really good reviews and a trip to London to see it is very tempting.
I’m back in Adam Levine again today haha but this time the “For Men” version. Last time I wore this, I got a slight BO vibe (though I enjoy it overall) from what I am guessing is the grapefruit in it. But this time I’m not getting it at all and am loving it! Cheap fun! Also, the perfumer is young-ish, so I am participating.
Cheap fun is the best fun! ????????
So many funny, inappropriate things i could say to this. Lol????????????
Go ahead, I dare ya….????
Didn’t count on you calling my bluff!
Me too haha!
My travel spray of Shangri La arrived yesterday from Twisted Lily (super fast) so I had to wear it. A couple of years ago I would not have liked this. It’s fascinating to me how much my tastes and interests have changed!
Hey you smell amazing! 😉
They were super fast. I ordered my Byredo 1996 bottle on a Sunday and I received it yesterday. LuckyScent is the slowest.
Sampling the new Guerlain Joyeuse Tubereuse. It’s light and lovely.
That’s a pretty one!
Mostly Infusion d’Iris today. With a couple of spritzes of Cacao Azteque on the back of my hand, just for fun. ????
What’s the Cacao Azteque like?
Oh, gosh. It’s beautiful. I’m not very good at describing scents, but one thing I would say is that it doesn’t make me think of chocolate at all. It’s dry and spicy and soft, not foodie to me in any way. Rachel at Luckyscent does a better job describing it than I could.
https://www.luckyscent.com/product/70210/cacao-azteque-by-perris-monte-carlo
I remember liking that one, too. Never see the brand mentioned much, but they do some quality stuff imo.
Thanks for the link, lizbee!
House and Perfume DNA twins!
A very good day to you, NST everywhere. My perfume today is La Pausa, for an eight hour workshop that promises frustration and …. frustration. Where do ideas like, “ Let’s have a workshop on culture and purpose,” come from? Is it a spore that floats around in the air conditioning and then lodges in senior management brains? Is it sneezed out by a carrier manager, and caught like a virus? We should develop a vaccine! It will be lots of words and coloured pens and post-it notes, and enthusiasm that will die fast in the coming onslaught of teaching and the tsunami of assignments. But here’s the good thing: I smell wonderful. Actually, I smell WONDERFUL.
BTW, I know this the wrong place to say this, but I am excited about the new Chanels. No one will be surprised by this. I know I didn’t buy Gabrielle, but I don’t dislike it. I don’t even mind the new variant on Coco, though I sometimes feel I should. I’m kinda hoping that Paris- Venise will be super. Paris-Deauville sounds rather up my street as well, in a different way.
This iPad is about to conk out, so I will stop maundering on. Be very well and happy, all, and spare a thought for me at this workshop.
Me too! I am crazy excited!
Paris Venise would be perfect for your trip to Europe,eh?
You smell far, far lovelier than the workshop deserves. I hope it helps carry you through that egregious waste of good honest post-it notes and time.
(Last year I had to spend an entire day on some godawful Jung-for-beginners personality assessment thing that was meant to help us all communicate better, according to our “colour profiles”. It did, in some ways: many of us found new common ground by agreeing what a colossal load of manure it was.)
Best wishes for getting through that evil waste of a perfectly good workday!
I’m BEYOND excited for the new Chanels. I really hope they don’t disappoint. And yes, you do smell WONDERFUL. 🙂
Showered, mixed Boots body butter in Almond with my regular lotion (alas, the Boots is discontinued) and sprayed on Elie Saab L’Eau Couture to feel fresh and keep with the almond theme.
Every once in a while, I get buttered popcorn from almond notes. Today is one of those days, unfortunately. I think it’s from the lotion….
Almond is one of my fav notes- are there any body products that you feel are especially popcornish? I’d like to avoid those.
I noticed it mostly in The Body Shop’s Almond Milk & Honey lotion. The plain Almond might be good, though.
SOTD is Diptyque Eau Rose. I’m enjoying my spring scents, now that it’s spring-ish. It was definitely spring at the beginning of the week (perhaps even summer-ish… warm enough for shorts). But it’s been getting steadily cooler all week. Still, spring-ish enough.
Yesterday’s SOTD was Demeter Black Ginger, which carried me thru a vet appt; it was the annual checkup for the cats, one of whom HOWLS the whole way to the vet and HOWLS in the vet’s waiting room and HOWLS the whole way home. Yeesh Kooky, Chill Out Furry Dude!
Our cat was once at the vet’s overnight, and when my husband went in the next day he heard the most horrible howling, like a cat that had been run over. He asked the receptionist if everything was OK, and she replied “Yeah, that’s just your cat. She’s fine, but soooo loud.”
He was so embarrassed he’s refused to take the cat to the vet ever since. Now it’s my job.
Yeah last time I had to leave Kooky there, I could hear him howling as soon as I walked in the door. The vet tech said, “Don’t believe the lies he’s telling you, we were very nice to him.” I promised her that I was certain he was lying!
I don’t have any yowlers, thank goodness, but I do have two cats who complain non-stop inside the cat carrier. Once they are out at the vet’s, things get a LOT quieter.
The new pup seems to have some separation anxiety issues and howls and cries as soon as we step out the door. It breaks my heart. I’ve been reading all day about it (yes, I’m bored at work).
Way back when my sister was in the hospital to give birth to her second child, I babysat my then 2 year old niece. She kept pining for my sister and BIL. My dad then had the brilliant idea of calling their house to get the answering machine where the greeting was recorded by my BIL. The change in my niece was quite profound, even though she kept wondering why her daddy was not answering her questions.
I can remember travelling on domestic flight with my dog. She was in the hold and all through the flight (only one hour, thank goodness) there was a constant barking and howling coming up through the floor. It was excruciating as everyone could hear her…talk about the walk of shame at the baggage carousel at the end.
I’m wearing Desert Rose by Dame Perfumery. I didn’t like it the first time I tried it because I thought it was too sweet, but today it’s really beautiful. I wish I could remember what the weather was like the last time I tried it.
I seem to be going through a perfume happy ‘what the hell give it a go’ phase of experimentation…Best discovery is Bois de Vanille layered over Gabrielle , really good ( adds volume ).
Bapteme du Feu with Kenzo Jungle …well, you can imagine how that circus works.
Interlude with Tango …young perfumers on a wild night out, getting home as dawn breaks.
A la nuit and Coco and Ambre des Merveilles…the morning after, did I really do that??!!! Eugh.
Sensible shoes today: Monsieur Li. I might add yellow, Leau Mohell, for a bit of up and over energy.
Hahaha, thanks for sharing. I don’t think I would like Ambre des Merveilles layered with anything.
Sampling Memo African Rose which started as a fairly fresh rose and is now a little warmer.
SotD = Hendley Perfumes Auric from a sample
Hey, another one with patchouli + cacao. That makes three I’ve worn this week. The florals were quite pretty, now the sandalwood is prominent. Smells fancy. When I received the samples I ordered, a hand-written note from Mr. Hendley was enclosed. Very nice.
I just ate my last piece of dark chocolate marzipan candy from Aldi, boo hoo. So yummy, I will buy them again when they next appear, probably in late autumn. Sending a virtual “haaallloooo” out to perfume friend chocolatemarzipan8!
That one sounds nice. Is that from a recent order?
May make it a Hendley day tomorrow!
Dooo eeet! lol
I ordered samples from Hendley a while back, I guess it was last year, wish I could remember better. 😀
The two samples I have left are Gia and Auric. I like them both very much, they smell like the really goooood stuff was used to make them. Nothing harsh or prickly to my nose, just loveliness.
An evening update, doused in the new Santal Noir from the Dior privee collection. It seems like it’s an easy, comfortable wear: nothing that will shock the world, but that’s not what this line is about. Sweeter than my usual taste–very smooth, perhaps something like Santal Majascule with tonka beans in its pockets? My on-paper sniff of Purple Oud, however, just seemed a bit apologetic and defanged. I couldn’t get any of the saffron from it
Thanks for the update! I’ve tried Jasmin des Anges (rather like J’Adore; I presume the ingredients are higher end, but the duration is shorter) and Balade Sauvage (fig!). Looking forward to trying the rest. I generally get along well with this collection’s aesthetic.
I’m wearing Yann Vasnier’s lovely L’âme sœur. He is quite young still so I’m kind of on this week’s theme.
Bright sunshine here today… a REAL spring day! Lots of people mowing their lawns before the next bout of rain comes thru. ????
SOTD = Bottega Veneta Knot, from the sample stash. A very springlike scent to match the day. It’s a pretty one, too.
Hope you’re enjoyed your spring day and the sunshine!
I have, thanks!
We’re getting our bout of rain tomorrow!
Vacation in San Diego day 3, wearing the light, pleasant enough, and boring English Pear & Freesia. I original sprayed an old decanted sample of White Jasmine & Mint, but it smelled off so I covered it up with the Pear & Freesia. I’ll wear something better to dinner later. We’re going to Juniper & Ivy, one of Richard Blais’s restaurants (any Top Chef fans?). Last night we are at his casual fried chicken place next door, The Crack Shack. As we were walking in, I spotted Blais himself outside Juniper & Ivy tasting something. I definitely nerded out and stared! I hope he’ll be in the kitchen when we’re there tonight.
Yesterday’s perfume was much more successful. It was Tom Ford Eau de Soleil Blanc. It reminded me of AG Un Matin d’Orage. It was a perfect sunny vacation day perfume.
Oh, jealous of your foodie escapades!
EP&F is light, pleasant, and boring. And it’s my favorite JM ???? Enjoy the rest of your trip!
I love Top Chef! Yay on your sighting and enjoy the food!!
How lucky for you to have seen a celebrity chef! I enjoy watching Top Chef. I found Richard Blais to be more and more pretentious as he became more successful.
Waiting for an appt in Alaia edp, which I haven’t worn in an age. I smell fantastic – no idea who the perfumer is, though.
Glorious legit warm day here ???? Hope others are enjoying the same.
Alaia smells so very nice, wish I were sitting next to you! And you’ve reminded me, I want to find a tester of the latest flanker . . .
I’d like to try it too, although I got some samples of Blanche and it didn’t work for me.
Not quite warm enough for Alaia where I am at yet… that’s definitely a summer scent for me.
Yes, best in heat!
Took advantage of a dry, semi-sunny day and cleaned-out flower beds. After quick shower, one spray of Coco to enjoy, while rubbing sore muscles. Can’t wear Coco in the heat, so I enjoy this beauty all winter long.
I seriously need to get out there and do the same in the yard!
A nice warm sunny day, I’m just lazing around at home and testi g out Pryn perfume’s Amalfi. I like this a lot…mostly salty lemon with some florals and something vaguely woody. I like the lemon which is a bit unusual for me. No hint of lemon cleaning products at all. Love the salty aspect.
That sounds so nice! I love lemon perfumes.
SOTD is “Vi et Armis” from BeauFort London.
Top: black pepper, tea and cardamom;
Mid: whiskey, incense and opium;
Base: tobacco, birch and oud.
Today this was mostly about the tobacco and got a compliment from TOMK (who on other days has complained it made him feel ill) – I think the secret is to spray more lightly. :^)
How did the Barcelona interview go? Your perfume sounds good, especially the opium aspect.
Wearing the glorious saffron, rose & leather of Galop d’Hermes for a Friday at the office.
Smelling awesome.
Good choice! Have you watched the series The Letdown? I just saw it and thought it was great.
No! But I just looked it up online and it looks like I should definitely seek it out.
Wearing Atelier Sud Magnolia today, which I wore the crap out of last spring to the point of getting a little sick of it. Now, it’s been long enough that I can appreciate it fully again.
Wearing in excess of 12 sprays of vintage Miss Dior. We are doing a bit of account swapping at work, so it was a bit of a trying day; I needed the boost.
Plus I was dragged into a meeting with my new-ish supervisor and manager into the General Managers office. I tried to get out of it but at least missing lunch was worth it since my super did most of the talking in the meeting (as we prepared over lunchtime). I will get my time back though..lol
SOTD = Prada Infusion de Mimosa
W00t! Spring in a bottle! I first smelled this in Barcelona but since it was full price and it was just the beginning of vacation, I decided to wait until I got back and wait for a deal. Anyway, I can absolutely spray away – 8 big ones!
Commuting Woes Nos. 425-426. I can’t unsee these fashion faux pas. Today’s were all about cut outs
– woman wearing jeans with a cut out the size of 1.5x of a $ bill on the front of the jeans. The cut out was so high up her pasty thigh that she either went commando or wore a dental floss thin thong. Ouch?
– woman with big boobies wearing a push up bra under a scoop neck blouse where the top third center was a series of horizontal cut outs. I have no other words.
You smell fabulous! I’ve been wanting a FB of Mimosa for a while now, hooray for sales!
The second woman on your commute is incredible, I aspire to that level of self-confidence. I’m currently at “will wear sleeveless blouses with a v-neck”, so it’ll take a while to get to her level of oomph.
Thanks. I really don’t understand the exhibitionism.
Finally back to wearing bold fragrances because I have the sniffles and can’t smell anything else! Baccarat is fantastic, but smells VERY different with a stuffy nose. It’s much more metallic, like old jewelry, and I’m getting more cedar than I normally notice.
It’s probably too late but what the heck. SOTD was Opardu. Then my partial bottle of Iris Nobile EDT came in so it is my scent of the evening. So happy that I found a partial bottle on EBay for a great price. Love it!
