Happy Friday and happy Pencil Day. Our community project for today: honor Women's History Month by wearing a fragrance by perfumer Germaine Cellier or Josephine Catapano, if you have one. If you don't, wear a fragrance by any female perfumer.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Robert Piguet Fracas, by Germaine Cellier. I'm wearing two vintage versions, one on each arm.
Reminder: on 4/6, wear one of your "top 10 of spring" fragrances (unless it's fall where you are, in which case wear one of your "top 10 of fall" scents).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows Germaine Cellier (at right) with 2 co-workers. You can read more about Cellier in a profile written by her niece for French Vanity Fair: Germaine Cellier, le sens de la formule.
Female Perfumer is Liz Zorn, scent is the lovely Amun Re:The Tears of Ra
I’ve always loved the sound of that one! I bet you smell fab????
So pretty. You smell wonderful today!
Philosykos
Yum!
I agree! this is my first time wearing it (if you can believe that!) and I might just stay with it for the entire weekend!
Oh my! Enjoy the weekend 🙂
Thanks! and how did I miss this gem??? I mean it has been around for ages 🙂
I was soooo close to wearing that one today- had it out and everything- but went with Hiris! You smell wonderful!
I’ll be wearing it again tomorrow if you feel like joining me 😉
You smell great! Ive been ignoring it for last 6 months, but I am going to wear it this weekend. I need something cheerful and sunny, and it the weather cant give it to me, then fragrance will do 🙂
yay! We’ll be scent twins as I plan on wearing it for the entire weekend!
You are smelling gorgeous in one of my favourites (which goes great with sunscreen by the way). Are you wearing the EdP, EdT or the solid? I have both a travel-size of the EdP and the solid and I really think I enjoy the creaminess of the soild version best.
The EDT in the older square bottle. If I am ever in the vicinity of a Dyptique shop (I am fairly certain there is one in Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan) I will test both the EDP and the solid.
I love that edt. Though I initially got it for the fig, the dry down is now my favorite part.
In Estee Lauder Youth Dew by Josephine Catapano. Very pretty, but I do not wear it as often as many years ago. Many perfumes and little time…
To those celebrating Good Friday and Passover today have a peaceful holiday. Hugs to everyone here.
hugs to you too
Thank you! ????
Hugs to you as well. Hope your weekend is peaceful.
Thank you KellyC. Enjoy your weekend!
I’m also in Youth Dew, the bath oil. It’s pretty potent stuff so I just dabbed on my wrists; I may add a few more dabs later.
We are off to see my hubby’s parents this weekend. It’s my Father in law’s birthday on April 1st (crazy April Fool’s baby). We will celebrate that and Easter on Saturday. It’s kind of bittersweet because they sold their house and are in a semi-retirement facility now. They used to have all the Holiday get-togethers at their place, but that’s now changed.
The house hasn’t changed hands yet so he said I can get some plants from his garden. I have my eye on a few!
Wishing you a quiet peaceful weekend.
Thank you Gail! Things are never the same when parents are not at home anymore, but the most important thing is to keep those moments when we meet with them special and unforgettable. I wish you and yours a Happy Easter and I am sure the plants are beautiful. Enjoy!
You smell fantastic in the Youth Dew body oil. It is definitely much better and easier to wear than the perfume.
Hugs right back at ya!
Thank you Lillyjo! ????
I hope you have a restful weekend, no matter what your plans are. Hugs back atcha!
Thank you! Quiet weekend ahead decanting a couple of perfumes for some NSTers and walking my dog. The temperature is not the best yet to fully enjoy outside, but at least the crocuses are in bloom already! Enjoy your weekend.
Happy FriYAY Y’all!
SO THIS HAPPENED…….
I popped into Belk (dept store) on Weds, and stopped by the Estee Lauder counter to get a sample of Youth Dew for Friday.
KAPOW. I had forgotten how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE the smell of Youth Dew. I had a 15% coupon off any fragrance, and it’s Estee Lauder Bonus time at Belk….so you know the rest of the story. I plunked down $34 and now am the proud owner of Youth Dew.
GORGEOUS. BEAUTIFUL. SEXY. SO HAPPY!
Happy to be the next generation to wear this beautiful classic. Ms. Catapano was genius! 🙂
😀 you did GREAT!
Wow, this really makes me want to try Youth Dew. Congrats on your purchase!
Practically free! Hooray! I don’t know that I’ve ever smelled Youth Dew; I’ll have to go mall-sniffing.
I bet you’ve smelled it and just didn’t know what you were smelling? LOL!
Maybe a grandma, aunt, teacher….someone in your life (perhaps years ago) surely wore it…. 🙂
I should have been born decades ago, perfume wise anyway! I sure do love the vintage classics!
I’ve only smelled it once: in an old perfume-solid on a chain (a necklace, I guess) that was my great aunt’s. It made an impact 😉
that is my mother in laws signature scent
Nice job on the Youth Dew!
Wearing Jolie Madame, and imagining a great cloud of Jolie Madame wafting up from NST readers everywhere. I wish I had thought of Robin’s idea of wearing two versions at once!
Twins!
I have some Jolie Madame but can’t wear it on skin – it gives me a bit of a rash. But I sniffed the sprayer this morning in honor of today’s theme. You (and Glannys) smell pretty!
I should have gone with Jolie Madame. OOOH wonder if it would play nicely with Fracas?
YOU’RE MAD!
(tell me how it goes)
Oooh, great pick! I might have to put some on now.
It took me decades to *get* Youth-Dew by the great Josephine Catapano: it always seemed too much in every possible way. But I’ve had a mini for ages (late eighties/early nineties vintage) that I tried repeatedly because it seemed like something I should love and because I am stubborn, and finally a few years ago it clicked: it’s equal parts weird, sexy, and comforting, basically Anjelica Huston as Mortica Addams bottled, and once you can reconcile those three things, Youth-Dew is like some miracle from heaven. You have to use a light hand or you’ll risk fumigating the place, so I’m wearing the smallest dab today and it is incomparable.
I too had a Youth Dew block! But then I tried the bath oil and somehow it all made sense.
I almost bought the bath oil just this week…..and I still might! LOL It’s Estee Lauder bonus week at Belk, after all…. 🙂
Not to enable, but the bath oil is fantastic! I use it as perfume.
This is how I use it! I snagged a little bottle of the bath oil from a CCO during one of their 40% off sales (great time to pick up many of the EL scents).
You’re making me want to try it again! I strongly associate YD with my mother. As a wee one, I would sit on her bed and watch her get ready to go see the Philharmonic at night and she wore YD for those occasions.
That is a lovely memory to have.
Your review makes me want to run right out and try it!
Oh that’s a perfect description 🙂
My mother always used to wear Youth Dew and I didn’t like it. It was so potent. Recently I offered to buy her some perfume and mentioned that one, but she said “Oh, I only wore that because it’s the only one your father ever liked, but I didn’t much like it myself.” I was so shocked!
Isn’t it amazing the things we don’t know about our parents? I learned some interesting things about my dad when I visited the “homestead” in Ireland a while back. I wondered, ”Who was this man? Did I really even know him?” He was so much more than “my dad.” I found out he was a wonderful man that I only half knew. My loss.
This whole thread gave me lots of feels, but especially your comment ❤
I think I’ll give my dad a ring today!
❤️❤️❤️
My dad was generous and we were constantly surprised by the unconditional priveleges offered to him (which he would not accept for himself but sometimes called in a favor to benefit others).
Calypso,
I can hear my mother saying those words about a few things….
She did love and wear YD. I may put some on post shower but it could be a little to tender to the bone yet.
I did however wear the glorious Fidjii to my own wedding.
This is a bit late, but big hugs to you, apsara. I feel the same…I have a bit of vintage Coco, waiting for the right time to wear it, ????
It’s snowing again, it’s cold and grey outside, and even my kitty hid herself under the blanket.
However, I spritzed Jolie Madame liberally and smell like spring. :p
We are on the fifth straight day of gray. Ugghhhh. My cat just stays in her big pink fish bed all day.
I need to see the Pink Fish bed! It sounds adorable and like something my hairless would love.

She has one that is shaped like a lions head now too
Oh, man! Methinks we need that shark ????????
How cute! Poor cold kitty.
That is adorable! I wish they had a T-Rex size!
these are great! am getting one for my sisters kitty!
Elisa P,
I adopted a little Cornish Rex once, my little alien space kitty.
She was a senior kitty given away by her family since she needed care and they couldn’t afford it. While she had that tight curly coat, my home was full of little round beds everywhere for her. Her name was Sabrina and I left it – after all she had it for nine years.
She weighed five pounds I could tuck her in my handbag. The first time she jumped all the way to my shoulder I was amazed. I didn’t have her long, about 18 months, but they were good months full of love, warmth, treats and little snuggle beds.
Awww. Sweet! Rex’s and Sphynx breeds are super affectionate. Glad she had a good home with you, if only for a short while.
That’s a very nice bed! Looks comfy.
LOL! WANT!
Jolie Madame!
Oh, even your kitty is fed up with winter weather! ???? Hope you can get a break from it soon.
Thank you! It’s much warmer today (Saturday) – 8C/46F – but still no sun, and I think she does not like all this grayness outside (I don’t either), because today she got inside the wardrobe for her afternoon nap. 😀
I’ve started the day with a few sprays of OJ Vanille d’Iris. It’s ok, not my favorite, and it seems to be fading fairly quickly, so after my shower I’ll probably switch to Rodin Bis. Or Daim Blond or Rose de Petra. Or maybe Ta’if. ????
Going with Rose de Petra (thanks, Elisa P!)
Beautiful! Enjoy!
I also did not get warm and fuzzy with Vanille d’Iris. I need to try it again but my recollection was screechy and thin, like using a few crystals of instant coffee and pretending it’s a fup of coffee.
???? Eew
Oh, that’s funny! I found it really round and thick!
My step-mother wore Youth Dew, and it was just amazing on her. Elegant and sophisticated. I’ll finish up my decant of Fracas, and I might wear EL tuberose gardenia also. Happy Easter???? ????
Happy Easter to you too, flopper! I hope you’re taking a breather after your big move. ????
Ha still moving. It’s the little things I have left. ???? happy Easter to you also!!
Joining you and Robin and the others in (vintage) Fracas. Always been one of my favorite Luca Turin reviews.
Happy Easter, flopper!
Thank you KellyC! ???? ????
Happy Easter! Enjoy! ????????????
Happy Easter, flopper!
Osmanthus by different company. I bought it because I love Elena scents even though they are fleeting and it was on zulily a sale site. Very nice but fleeting. I use to be ablate get a black tea with osmanthus in it which was pretty nice. alas not for sale where I use to get it so I will have to look around. So many here seem into tea I will have to start making a notes and try sen new places.
And I used to buy an osmanthus oolong from Ten Ren regularly, but have never (so far as I remember) had a black osmanthus tea.
I picked Sylvaine Delacourte’s Helicriss. It smells fantastic.
A friend is having surgery next week and I wanted to stock him up with some good food. Unfortunately, I had a mishap with the mandolin. ????. It so much harder to be a good friend without an opposable thumb (cut … not amputation ????). But he will have some good comfort food.
Happy Easter to those celebrating!! ????
Ouch! I’ve done that with the mandolin. Frankly, that thing frustrates me so we just invested in a Cuisine Art.
Very sweet of you to do that for your friend-in-need!
I was wondering how you’d managed to damage yourself with a musical instrument :^S
Yeah, I won’t have one of those mandolin slicer things in the house. I am pretty good at moments of inattention and I’m guessing the two don’t mix!
This was my thought as well, how did he injure himself playing the mandolin?
LOL!
I just bought a mandoline recently and washed it before using. In a nanosecond of inattention, I sliced a small chunk of my thumb off. It bled for hoooours (I must have nicked a small blood vessel) but two months later I’m fine. Haven’t touched the mandoline since…
I’ve also sliced a good chunk of finger off with a mandoline. It was with a japanese one, though, which I never used afterward and eventually chucked. The french ones are much safer to use but they still make me nervous.
Fortunately I have pretty good knife skills so that’s what I use when I need thin slices – but it can be very labor-intensive depending on the dish one is making.
We still laugh (we are that kind of family) about the year my mother bled all over the Christmas potatoes and dinner was late because she had to go to the emergency room. I won’t keep one in the house, I’d probably kill myself with it.
Sounds like the story we have about the Xmas my mum accidentally set grandma’s french polished sideboard on fire as she lit the brandy on the xmas pudding…
Oh my, that is excellent!!
Cozy in a small spritz of BK Amber Oud. I know, I’m a broken record with this one. But it is by a female perfumer: Calice Becker.
You smell lovely. Very cozy.
And to top if off, I’m enjoying the coziness with my cafe au lait and homemade coffee cake.
Sounds perfect.
That’s such a pretty one. Feels like a golden silk scarf.
Yes, perfect choice for fragrance to clothes ‘anthropomorphism.’ If that makes any sense.
I haven’t got around to smelling Amber Oud yet, but I have a feeling Persis would approve your choice! 😀
Ha – yes, indeed, although I think Youth Dew might suit her better. Her Bois des Iles almost seems a bit subdued for her, but I love that at least one of the characters was wearing it.
I received a bit of this in a swap. Ten minutes later, I had a 10ml rollerball on its way to me from eBay.
I will join you in Amber Oud broken recordness. ????
Exactly.
House twins, wearing Becker’s Rose Oud. I love the Amber Oud and the Incense Oud as well. Didn’t much care for Killian’s original line, but the Oud series got me to sit up and pay attention.
I need to try the Rose Oud next. Or wait, maybe I shouldn’t…
Wearing Fracas lotion that I made a while back from a rapidly evaporating mini vintage parfum that I dumped into some unscented lotion (Shikai Borage Therapy). It’s about a year old and I forget I have it but it smells great still. And strong but not as strong as straight up.
I’ll have to wash it off later as I’m going on a cat trapping mission at the TNR colony I volunteer at. A poor sick kitty showed up and it has the runs, bad, and has alienated the regulars who live there. It’s a sad sight ????
Happy holidays to all that celebrate!
Hope the kitty mission goes well, and the sick one recovers!
I hope so, too!
It is always sad when one of the furry friends is ill. So kind of you to care for her/him.
It’s been a heartbreaking (and frustrating-volunteer drama) experience. One of the long-time resident cats has disappeared completely since the sicky showed up. Hoping it’ll come back and hoping the sick one is rehabable.
Good luck on your rescue mission. I hope you get through it unscathed and the kitty gets some relief!
Thank you! Me too.
Fracas lotion sounds divine. I’m going to have to try this. Good luck with the cat herding!
It’s the perfect way for me to wear it since it takes it a bit. It’s held up surprisingly well. I thought it might go rancid.
My hat’s off to you wonderful people who help homeless kitties. May the trapping go smoothly and the kitty get well.
I enjoy it but the unexpected stuff is stressful. Our colony is small and a bit disorganized compared to a neighboring one several blocks away. I’ll post some photos later. The people who put the work into establishing them are truly amazing and creative. The goal is mostly to lower the feral population here which has been problematic.
Thank you for volunteering at the TNR colony – they are such a humane way of handling the feral population. Hope you get the sick kitty soon – he must be feeling very ill for his sickness to be visible – cats are so good at hiding their ailments.
It is and hopefully it keeps the shelter population down. Some cats have been there for almost a decade and are in good shape. This cat doesn’t act sick at all. It has chronic diarrhea and is very thin with a patchy coat. It eats like a fiend!
Good luck with your rescue!
Thanks! 3.5 hours out there and the darned thing didn’t feel like eating for a change. We’ll have to try again tomorrow.
Rose nacre desert…
I have been craving middle eastern type scents this week so not participating
Thank you for all the birthday wishes yesterday. I was showered with a lot of gifts ????
I’m trying to cut back on my sampling and spend more time with the many perfumes I already love, but this one keeps popping up and drawing my attention and curiosity. I imagine I’m better off just giving in. ????
Happy belated birthday.
HA! Don’t give in…or let me know if you do!
Happy belated birthday, LTSG!
Oh, I missed it! ???? Happy Happy Birthday- a day late, but no less sincere!
Happy belated birthday!
Happy Belated, Smells Good! 🙂
Thanks all! It was a great day…
I missed it also. Happy Birthday Lovestosmellgood!
I chose Ormonde Jayne Woman for today’s theme. Love.
You smell good!
You smell wonderful!
you smell wonderful!
love that one
Mmm gorgeous!
Wearing Arielle Shoshonna for the theme today, by the telented Cecile Hua. I am using my 5mL pretty quickly…
I so wish Ari would be able to offer a 15ml bottle of it!
Me, too. I can already tell I’ll be hoarding my split decant.
I wonder if she would chime in and talk about why more lines don’t offer smaller bottles – or why most lines only offer such big ones. I’m assuming there are actual reasons and I’d be curious to learn about her experience.
I think it had to do with volume and/or cost of bottles. Something like the bottle manufacturer required an order of waaaaaaay too many bottles for a small business to order.
I’m thinking about doing another bottle of it at the next splitmeet, and decanting out 70 of the 100 mls….
I’d be in if you did!
I am scentless as of yet, getting a late start this morning. I wanted to wear Fidji today but that smells spring-like to me and the weather is cold and gray here. Plus I’m on day 6 of a 10 day jump start diet (yay, over half way) so I might wear En Voyage perfumes
Souvenir de Chocolate Trio for a calorie free treat, or maybe that’s a bad idea? Anyway, happy Friday everyone!
Perfumer Shelley Waddington, one of my favorites 🙂
You go! Master that diet!
I am wearing Alaia Paris by Marie Salamagne.
You smell fantastic!
Off theme (as usual, sigh…) but needed a blast of summer this morning, so went with Diptyque L’eau des Hesperides.
So many great perfumes that NSTers are wearing today! Enjoy, and to all I wish a very Good Friday (Easter, Passover, etc.)!
Off-theme or not, you still smell wonderful!
Another Fracas wearer here, although it feels all wrong to me on another wet, gray day. I’m not usually good at pretending.
Crap weather here too, and while I usually like wearing out of season perfumes, doesn’t really feel right to me either. So we are really twins!
What am I wearing this morning, as I wait at the orthopedist’s waiting room? VENENUM! Because…MY PACKAGE WAS FOUND!!!!! Thank you all for being as helpful and supportive as you always are, no matter the severity of our problems (because let’s be honest, no matter how stressed I was, a missing perfume package is really not that big a deal). I called our leasing office, who talked to our USPS man, who went looking for it and dropped it off at the front desk yesterday afternoon 🙂 🙂 🙂
I smell great. Venenum is as delicious as I remember. Sweet, milky, spiced tea—nothing as overt as chai, but more of a subtle version of the same idea.
Now let’s hope I don’t have rheumatoid arthritis (at, yes, the age of 30), or more broken foot bones. Let’s hope it’s something super easily curable.
I meant to add: perfumer is Daphne Bugey, so I am reasonably on theme!
Glad ur package showed up!, and good luck with the orthopaedist.
So glad your package was found!
I’m so glad your package was found!! And good luck at the orthopedist; I hope you get good news there as well. ????
Hooray for found packages!
So glad your package turned up! I decided I’ll inquire about mine from six weeks ago when I go to the PO tomorrow. There’s always a chance it’ll be there!
Oh, Koyel, you have ALLLLL my sympathy regarding missing packages…I’m glad it was found and perfumista harmony is re-established. 🙂
Hooray! And best of luck at the orthopedist. Been there myself. And for a broken foot bone.
Yay for the found package, you smell great! And hoping your painful foit ends up being something easily fixed and not RA.
Oh, geez – hope it’s good news at your appointment. And congrats on tracking down that package! Persistence pays off!
Yay! So happy it turned ip????
*up????
So…..does this mean you will be back to buying more perfume 😉 ???
Yay for your bottle! I hope your appointment goes well.
Yay for the found package! and BOO for the possibility of RA…I hope your appointment goes well!
Thank you, all! It sounds like I have a neuroma (inflamed nerve). This likely occurred because the broken bone in my foot makes me put more weight on the outside of my foot, which irritated said nerve. So–metatarsal pads added to my orthotics, an order to buy new and softer orthotics, instructions to wear slippers with structured, high arches at home, and a steady diet of ibuprofen (sorry, my poor liver! minimal alcohol for me this month, I guess). If things don’t get better in a month, I’ll have to get steroid injections, sooooo hopefully I’ll improve!
So sorry, but so glad it is nothing worse!
Thanks, me too!
Ooh – ow! Hope the metatarsal pads help. If you find slippers with structured, high arches, let me know. (Unless by slippers, you mean flip flops.) Outside of Haflinger they don’t seem to exist.
Is there such a thing as an orthotic for supination? I wonder if that would help. Best on the recovery!
I bet there is! She gave me some specific orthotics to buy (goodbye, money). She also gave me the brands of some structured slippers (I also hope she means fuzzy slippers and not flip flops; I can’t hang out at home in flip flops!). I will e-mail you the names when I have the paper with the suggestions in front of me!
Welcome to the neuroma club. Sigh. I basically am resigned to wearing shoes that have a spacious toe box forever and less than about 1.5 inch heel. But I’ve been managing for over a decade now. I have bought shoes that I thought had a wide enough toe box, only to wear them for a few hours and find my foot is feeling like it is starting to catch fire.
Hope you get some relief! It can be seriously painful.
Nooooooooo don’t tell me that, no no no. Does this mean I can never wear my heels again?!?!?!?! I have SO MANY gorgeous shoes that have been gathering dust for the past two years!!!!! This is so sad! 🙁 🙁 🙁
Hurray for your wayward package showing up! Too bad about having to return to the orthopedist, though. My fingers are crossed that you won’t need steroid shots… that sounds horrible!
Thanks 🙂 they do sound awful and scary!! And steroids can mess you up D:
I’m a twin with Robin in Robert Piguet “Fracas”, current version.
Top: orange blossom, mandarin, green leaves, peach, hyacinth and bergamot;
Mid: coriander, carnation, tuberose, violet root (huh?), geranium, osmanthus, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, iris, rose, narcissus and gardenia;
Base: sandalwood, amber, musk, oakmoss, cedar and vetiver.
I normally detest white flower perfumes but have a full bottle of this. It tends to poison TOMK sadly, so he is upstairs lying down to recover and I am feeling smug.
Here is the rest of my week of perfumes by women:
Monday: 4160 Tuesdays “The Buddhawood Box”, Sarah McCartney [pure plasticine yuk];
Tuesday: Annick Goutal “1001 Ouds”, Isabell Doyen/ Camille Goutal [rather unnecessary];
Wednesday: Maria Candida Gentile “Gershwin”, MCG herself [okay but she does other stuff I love better]
Thursday: Papillon “Salome”, Liz Moore [more woman than I can handle!]
I know 4160 Tuesdays gets a lot of perfumista love, but I just. don’t. geddit. Everything I’ve tried from this house has been underwhelming (except the names, which are wonderful). I wanted to love them. Maybe it’s me.
Maybe it’s a style disconnect.
Maybe I’m just a philistine. Oh well.
No, it’s not just you, I have tried several and haven’t connected with any of them.
Same.
Me neither. Very chemical-bath on me.
I have found them to be just okay. Although, as you said, I want to love them so much because of the names.
Ditto. Can’t connect with Slumberhouse either. They all smell medicinal, rough and unfinished to me.
We are very sheepish to admit (or don’t admit at all) to not liking an nst-beloved house. The nice thing about perfume is that it is worn for love, and love cannot be explained. It’s therefore okay not to love 4160 or Neela Vermeire or Tauer or Sumberhouse. etc., especially since the same perfume can smell very different on different people.
Agree! But never admit to not liking Bob Dylan as that would be pushing it a bit far.
Haha! Fortunately, I don’t dislike Dylan.
LOL — this is exactly right.
heh
I really like Urura’s Tokyo Cafe and A Kiss by the Fireside, so I got a selection of 10ml minis when they came up as a special offer. They ranged from no-no to quite nice, but not as good as the first two. So I guess I would say they are quite variable, and that’s on someone whose skin doesn’t fundamentally disagree with them. It is easy to imagine them being intolerable to another person.
My secret NST shame is Tauer, partly because most of them have been so-so for me, but also because he won’t ship to the UK so I kind of think “f*** him and the horse he rode in on”.
Wow, you had a great and creative perfume week! I’m in Fracas, also. Too heavy for me usually, but I put on a few tiny drops from an old sample, and I smell like a diva!
LOL @ [more woman than I can handle!]
Your mini reviews made me laugh! Thanks!
I have been thinking about AG 1001 Ouds. I liked it very much a couple years ago, but my tastes have changed. I need to dig up my sample. What do you find rather unnecessary?
(I don’t see you here too much anymore, and am always pleased when I do!)
Hi Koyel! Well, 1001 Ouds is a perfume that smells of oud and rose and some other stuff (I sound like a regular Luca Turin), and it’s pretty mild, and there are dozens of alternatives out there that have more personality, for better or worse. :^)
I just finished a project in Germany that has been all-consuming since November when my team resigned (because of the client, not because of me! Or so they said) and since then I have been too busy and then too stressed and eventually too tired to come here much.
Happy to hear your foot news today was better than it might have been.
That’s reasonable 🙂 Oof, I’m sorry you’ve been busy and stressed and tired! I hope you’re feeling better now. And thanks for your kind thoughts 🙂
Love your pithy mini reviews, especially of Salome!
I frankly could not be bothered to dig through the bedside cabinet for one of my several Jolie Madame vintage extrait minis, which is what I really wanted. For some reason the vintage extrait mini of Fracas, which I almost never wear, was on the dresser. So I’m wearing about one drop of that. It’s nice, but I’m wishing for JM. I might have to bite the bullet, stop what I’m doing at the desk, and go dig.
It is that kind of day! And I still not not finish searching out my Monsieur Balmain (although that’s partly because I begin to suspect maybe I don’t have any)
Yin & Ylang, from Laurie Erickson. I never got around to ordering any samples from SSS, and am deeply regretting it now.
Thanks to Meredifay and the swapmeet for the chance to try this pretty, sunny scent! ????
You smell beautiful! Yin & Ylang was one of my last purchases from SSS.
House twin. I love Yin & Ylang, and wish I’d bought the 30 ml instead of the 15 ????. I’m wearing SSS Equestrian, my final purchase from Laurie. Apples, hay, and a worn leather saddle. It’s perfect for a sunny spring morning.
Twins! ????
That’s a beaut! Wish I had bought more than just the travel size.
You smell wonderful! I wish I had more than a sample of that one!
In Fracas for now, like many others. I am really enjoying this spicy BWF, but will replace it with something else after showering. My husband and boys usually complain that BWF’s smell too “old lady,” and we all have to be in the car for 5 hours this evening going part-way to my parents’ for my dad’s 80th birthday party (the other 3 hours will be tomorrow morning).
That’s a long drive, so yes, just as well to be done with the Fracas.
Happy birthday to Sapphire Dad!
Oooh, happy birthday to your dad!
Happy pencil day! Wearing Woodcut by Ellen Covey and 1970 by Azzi Glasser (Bella Freud) as I roam about in the early morning. I have my botanical drawing class later today but so far we have only been allowed to use conte crayon and we haven’t progressed beyond drawing pumpkins. The moon was so bright last night that when it backlit the trees it made them look almost phosphorescent.
Few things are more stunning than an autumnal moon. Happy Pencil Day back to you! Too bad you can’t use one in your drawing class 😉
I think the teacher is being kind. Really we should have a bucket of fat crayons and a roll of newsprint, or poster paint for finger painting.
LOL!
“we have only been allowed to use conte crayon and we haven’t progressed beyond drawing pumpkins…” Patience young grasshopper, your time to replace wood with steel is still far off yet….
🙂
I have to say that the idea of a photography course is getting increasingly attractive
The mental picture I am getting of your moon last night sounds fantastic in all senses of the word.
I’m Prada infusion d’iris Cedre by Daniela Andrier today. I smell like expensive Italian hotel soap! I don’t usually do soapy scents but i dig this one for some reason.
We’re fraternal twins: Infusion de Mimosa here.
Wearing Vent Vert from a cute mini bottle. Such a beautiful fragrance!!
off topic but is your pic a dog? maybe a bernner?
Yes, that’s my dog, Vinnie. He’s a rescue; they say he’s part rat terrier, but who knows!
I’m wearing Jolie Madame, from a vintage decant purchased from TPC. I have no idea how vintage it is, but it smells great. From Germaine Cellier.
I saved the best for today: SSS and Equestrian. Wish I had a big, big bottle of this.
Once again, a no go hiking yesterday because of work related issues. The following is a bit of a rant, so skip it if you like. You’ve been warned!???? Before every contract, we have to complete on-line testing, which can be fairly minimal to extremely extensive, depending on the unit you are contracted with. So, I completed everything Tuesday, emailed the person who sends me all these links to the testing sites (because the testing seemed suspiciously minimal) to confirm ALL testing was complete. Never heard a thing back. Then yesterday, oh so sorry, a load more testing (6 hours worth!) that I have to complete by the end of the day. And here I am out boondocking with no electricity of WiFi. Grrr!
I said some bad words under my breath! ????
Other than that, we have been overnighting in some interesting places! Once I was finally able to break out of Oregon down I5, (after driving through rain, snow, and hail!), we stayed at a deserted campground right over the Cali border. All kinds of branches down, totally unkempt and creepy, but hey! it was free! Bathrooms were unlocked and everything. I was just dozing off when a branch or pine cone fell on the roof of the van and scared the bejeesus out of me! It is PITCH BLACK in these areas and dead quiet as well, which makes for peaceful sleeping. The last few nights we’ve been boondocking in the Shasta/Whiskeytown area. Two marinas are on lake and I can overnight there (for free!), and they have bathrooms with WARM water! It’s like the ritz!
Happy Friday, hope everyone has a fabulous weekend✌????
Welcome to California!
Thanks! ????
Hee hee @ The Ritz! You are a brave lady. Enjoy your post-testing pre-working time.
Thanks! ????
Haha! The pine cone would have scared me, too. It’s so beautiful up in the Shasta area. Have you tried Stewart Mineral Springs? I love the baths and the cold plunge pool. It’s an experience I seek out yearly.
I’m going to look that up. I’ve heard of these type of hot springs, but didn’t know there were any in the area. But, totally makes sense with all the volcanic activity in this area.
Ugh. That’s a serious drag. But exciting about the California adventure!
I was chatting with a woman who lives near a park near me in a converted school bus. The inside is impressive. Apparently it’s legal to remain parked and used as a living space here. She’s actually a former L&D RN, but works in the arts now (mid to late 50 yo?). She showers at the park’s rec center and works in Manhattan. Pretty eye opening to see it in person. She’s actually one of 2 of those by the park. The other bus dwellers are a couple with 2 young kids. He works in real estate ???????? Love it!
There are some seriously gorgeous rigs out there! Most like this are vehicle dwelling by choice, but there is a huge population that have no choice and no voice. I just picked up a book called “Nomad land” but have not started it yet. There is a huge population of people that are living out of cars/vans/buses/RV’s because they simply cannot afford housing. Sadly, there is more and more legislation against this subgroup, (which affects me, although I am voluntarily vandwelling) which is just a covert way of punishing the poor and less fortunate.
https://www.amazon.com/Nomadland-Surviving-America-Twenty-First-Century/dp/039324931X)
Yes, I’m surprised to hear it’s legal in any metropolitan area. I could go further on the subject but won’t.
Haha! I know where you’re going! And I agree in part. My view is that you shouldn’t punish a whole population with use of sweeping legislation. The legislation should enacted against the individuals that are creating problems. There are many, many people who live this way, contribute in many ways to the culture they’re part of, although it may not be “conventionally.” There are also many who remote work, are retired, or travel extensively for work who are now unable to continue to live the way they choose, although they are certainly responsible members of society. I find it very sad that people can’t pull off in a rest area to sleep if they’re tired from a long haul. I legislators would rather they remain on th road, a danger to themselves and others.
Oh, and get this: this morning I was picking up T-Rex poop because I’m a responsible citizen and discovered all the dumpsters here are locked?! I happened to meet a firefighter in the alley behind the firehouse and he unlocked it for me! I asked him about this- “They keep the dumpsters locked so people don’t rumage through them.” I have never heard of such nonsense! And how much did is cost taxpayers to get all new dumpsters?!
That book looks good.
It does, I’m looking forward to starting it.
I don’t know if your van can do dirt roads, but there are some cool places in the forest service road system near Shasta. Glass Mountain (whole hill/mountain of obsidian) and Medicine Lake are among our favorites.
We should get together for some sniffing while you’re in Napa!
It can donforesr roads that are gravel or dirt, but it’s not a 4WD and I have the stock “street tires” now, so as long as it’s not too muddy/deeply rutted it’s no problem. The problem arises when I need to turn around without any pullout area. It’s an extended van, so that’s the biggest issue. I will look up those spots to see if it’s doable, thanks!
Would totally love to go sniffing! Always happy to meet NSTers in person ????
I’ll keep in touch!
Deva, I do not comment often on your posts, but I really love reading about your hiking/campgrounds/work and travel adventures.
Thats what makes this blog+community so much fun, talking and reading about perfume but also learning about daily lives, loves and struggles from people around the world.
That’s very kind of you! Have perfume, will travel! I’ve been doing this a year now, and some things drive me absolutely nuts (inefficiency!), but I’m so glad I launched myself out into the world like this. It’s been and interesting and enlightening experience. I have to say, I didn’t expect to me so many kind and helpful people. I’ve met others who are kind of doing the same thing as me, some for work, some retired, and some “between jobs,” living in all kinds of vehicles from vans to cars to big Diesel pushers. All have been such open and easy people, a real delight to talk with.
Vintage Vent Vert from a package of vintage treasures received from Regina a couple weeks ago. It’s lovely and strong! I was much more diplomatic with the dabs after being overwhelmed by Bandit yesterday.
Vintage VV can be VERY strong, glad it is lovely!
I am wearing Nina Ricci Coeur Joie by Germaine Cellier. It fits my mood perfectly today. Happy Passover/Easter/weekend to all my perfume friends!
Coeur Joie – I am duly impressed! Enjoy.
Same to you , cazaubon! Enjoy your weekend 🙂
Have a happy weekend!
Have a wonderful weekend Cazaubon!
Have a happy weekend, Cazaubon!
No community project for me today. I needed something organizing, spine-straightening as Hajusuuri says, so am draining the last of my decant of Vega— no doubt the new formulation. My verdict is I don’t need to add anymore adelhyde bombs to my life, so no need to rush out for this one. But if I ever manage to finish my Chanel No. 5, I think I will replace it with Vega— I prefer its carnation and sandalwood mashup to my No. 5 edp.
So I am still fighting this ridiculous cold, have lost my voice, and am nearly deaf in my right ear… We have had two sets of out of town guestst these last two nights, and that on top of caring for my son—I am beat. I was supposed to host the whole family for a Passover Seder this Saturday, but I cried uncle. Anyway this paragraph of self-pity was actually to share that one of our guests was a very dear friend from college. We are now both 50 (well technically I am 51 ????) with kids starting to consider college themselves, but the two of us wound up sprawled on my bed laughing until we cried about our spouses, kids, old friends, work… the whole time sniffing perfumes and making decants for her to take back to Rhode Island. Some things never change thank goodness!
I’m glad you have been able to find some laughter and joy in the middle of it all. Get well soon!
Sorry for all the illness- yours and your sons. Hope he is steadily improving. What a great time with such a long time friend! A great way to decompress from a whole load of stress!
Oh, I am so sorry you are sick but am so happy you had some sweet, fun time with a dear friend! Take care of yourself!
Sorry you’re not feeling well! Sounds like your friend’s visit was so fun though. Hope you’re enjoying our sudden shift to spring (summer?) weather. It was 87 degrees out when I left work yesterday. Just last week we had hail and snow flurries! Madness, I say!
WOW 0_0
The time you spent with your friend sounds magical! I’m really hoping you start feeling better soon.
Sorry you’re sick, but good for you for taking care of yourself. A Seder is a lot of prep for someone feeling tip-top. And your visit sounds like a blast! Glad it gave you some needed relief.
Glad to hear you have relaxing and fun time with your friend. Feel better soon!
Sorry to hear that your cold is still bothering you. Smart decision, then, to not do all that cooking for the Seder. Holiday cooking always seems to be a giant production no matter what. On the plus side, you did get to spend some quality time with your friend.
Thanks for posting that photo, Robin. I wish I could read the article but it doesn’t seem to be translated anywhere. I enjoyed looking at the photos within, however.
It brought to mind a recent story about a woman using twitter to get help identifying a woman in a photo from a 1971 scientific conference. She was the only woman in the photo, and the only person not identified in the materials from the conference. She was, in fact, a scientist, and had indeed been invited to the conference. But the photo was published with the male scientists’ names while hers was omitted. Here is a link to the twitter convo: https://twitter.com/mycandacejean/status/972167936772157440
One wonders if there were such nameless women working alongside Ms. Cellier and Catapano. Have to assume so, no?
I woke with excitement that my decant of Lipstick On had arrived (yay, swapmeet! thanks, kelly!) so that is what I’m wearing. AFAICT, no perfumer is identified. Perhaps it was created by a nameless woman.
I followed that thread as it unfolded. It was epic. That scientist went to a G-14 rating and is now retired. And does belly dancing as a hobby.
I was following that on Twitter as it happened! It’s a great story (and a frustrating one in terms of how often women are uncredited for their work).
Try this:

Oh, great! Thank you!
I’m in Encre Noire by Nathalie Lorson.
Yum! You smell great!
Joining the Fracas crowd. Extrait de parfum and eau de parfum. I smell pretty fabulous!
We are a big family reunion today 🙂
From Maison Vanille, wearing Tahiti and Tropiques today.
I take it you are liking this line?????
Good Friday!
1) SOTD: Am in Epic Gardenia by Strange Invisible Perfumes. The perfume designer is Alexandra Balahoutis. This is a soapy, very pretty white floral. I would not call it ‘epic’ as it does not project ( for a white floral that projects, see Fracas or Estee Lauder Tuberose Gardenia). It’s more a warm, clean huggable gardenia. The price is…wince inducing. Of the fragrances I tried at SIP, I really like the grapefruity/jasmine freshness of Fair Verona.
2) A scramble for the end of month. UGH. Today is definitely a coffee and focus day indeed!
Seen any movies lately? Isle of dogs?
Not yet! I saw Wrinkle in Time, which was really good!
Wearing vintage Vent Vert for the first time – wow! I’m always a little scared when trying vintages of high repute for the first time but this is instant love.
Oh good!
Yay, long easter weekend (almost friday evening here!)
SotD is Eau des Merveilles, edt
My travel mini is almost empty…do I need more of this fabulous juice…i think I do….but but I just spend money on clothing.
I bought a Rouje blouse that is totally adorable (black with red dots). It fits like a glove and its that piece of clothing that makes you happy just wearing it.
????
I love a piece of clothing that fits really well and makes you happy!
The small polkadots, so festive and carefree! I just realised, its my first piece of clothing with dots ???? (not counting the dotted nightgown I had as a little girl).
I fought really hard yesterday NOT to buy a sweater from an incredible cashmere sale. It might have been perfect, especially for spring and fall, but I sat on my hands as I’m trying to curtail my spending. But congrats on your purchase – one ought not pass on anything that fits like a glove!
Oooh cashmere….so tempting…
Sometimes it good to do the sensible thing. Though I dont think this ‘internet era’ makes it easier….
I am so glad you don’t live on the same continent as me..or else I would make you go shopping with me.
If you visit Netherlands we could have Bossche Bollen for breakfast and we’d have enough energy for a whole day of shopping ????
I’m so thankful for the holiday, I’m desperate for some r&r. I couldn’t manage the theme because my bottle of Slowdive arrived at last (after being stuck in the mail for 6 long weeks). Wow, I love it!
What’s it like? Is it honeyed?
It is very honey-forward (in a lovely way)…but there is much more. Some reviewers have said it is more or less straight honey but to me I get a lot of sweet tobacco, something green and stemmy and the florals are clear. It is warm and mellow and just my cup of tea.
How would you compare it to Back to Black?
It might be unfair for me to compare as I’ve only tried Back to Black once long ago from a dabber sample but from my recollection B2B was much sweeter (Slowdive somehow doesn’t come across sugary sweet) and I think there is more fruit in B2B. There is reportedly dried/stewed fruit in SD but it isn’t coming through on me.
All we need is jjlook to chime in for this to look like a reunion ????
My female perfumer is Olivia Giacobetti. I’m wearing Passage d’Enfer in honor of Pencil Day, ha ha.
Perfumer twins!
Perfect!
I was surprised at how many choices I had from those two perfumers. I went with Fidji, which my mother used to wear in the 60s and 70s. If course, it has been reformulated into something much thinner than the original. 🙁
Twins! I bought my mini off ebay so I don’t know it’s age but I suspect it is most likely the modern version.
Vent Vert parfum for me today, from a vintage mini with a bakelite cap. Ah this is lovely.
I don’t have an perfumes by the two perfumers in the challenge, so I am in Hiris by Olivia Giacobetti. I started to wear Philosykos which I adore, but went with the Hiris for some reason. It’s hitting the spot today.
Hope everyone who celebrates has a wonderful Passover/Good Friday/Easter. Hugs to all.
hugs back!
Have a great weekend, KellyC!
Weekend a Deauville from the original version, about 10 years ago or so. Love this PdN masterpiece!
It is indeed a masterpiece. My favorite PdN.
Mine too!!
After my headache incident yesterday, I was actually afraid to put any perfume on today. I finally decided a half spritz of L’eau d Hiver would probably be safe. So far so good. Oh, and finally got to take the stupid heart monitor off, yay!
Hope you are feeling better. 🙂
hope you are feeling better…
Yay for heart monitor freedom!
Great to hear the monitor is off. You smell gooo!
Thanks everyone!
A little late with this tonight, but big congrats on not having to wear the heart monitor anymore. Hope you get good news from that.
Me too! It’s very stressful actually.
SOT(Y)D was Monsoon from Dame that was sent to me by a lovely NSTr during the last freebie meet. It was a lovely scent, but I wish it had a little more ooomph to it, as it started disappearing an hour or two after application. Today, for work? Trying to decide between Miss Dior Bloomin Bouquet and Modern Muse (which would be keeping with today’s theme) for some spring time (or at least the illusion of it, ha!) goodness. Or maybe I’ll just say heckwidit and go for a Cheap Thrill, those are always fun.
I’m wearing very, very old Youth Dew. The sprayer stuck so I’m wearing a lot of it, but the house smells very nice indeed. I love the old nitromusk scents.
My favorite perfumer is Daniela Andrier and in honor of her and all other women I’m wearing Prada Amber Pour Homme.
I do love this one. So classy.
Prada Infusion de Mimosa here 😉
I LOVE that photo; thank you, Robin, for posting it!!
Wearing En Passant by my favorite Olivia Giacobetti.
Isn’t that great?
And you smell great.
SotD = Eau des Merveilles
I’m continuing my daily dose of Hermes with ease. 😀
Half-credit for our project, or perhaps bonus points for being gender inclusive? EdM’s co-parfumeurs are Ralf Schwieger and Nathalie Feisthauer. So let’s hear it for the girls, for the boys, for everyone!
I almost wore L’air du Temps today but stopped myself when I remembered the perfumer’s name is Francis Fabron, not Frances. I’ll wear L’air tonight.
Twins! ????
hi, twin! **waves across the ocean**
I think I’ll wear that one tonight – going out with friends to celebrate a birthday. You smell fine!
yay for EdM! It does have a celebratory feeling.
Enjoy your night out. 😀
Morning! A quick post from because I have to dash madly about in all directions to take someone to the airport. I’m wearing the very pretty, easy Cardamom and Mimosa by Jo Malone, which probably does put me in the project. I don’t deserve any credit though, because I didn’t deliberately choose to comply.
This is a perfectly pleasant scent, so soft and easy-going and inoffensive that it’s been rendered rather boring, like the Muzak versions of good music. For today, though, it’s fine: this early dash to airport, the supermarket, housework.
Oh, and help me, if you will: I can’t seem to stop thinking about buying a bottle of Upper Ten. I hate the name (ridiculous, out-dated classist claptrap!); I kinda like the bottle, but who cares about bottles, really?; I truly liked the smell, and it was what brought me back, so to speak. If I bought from a retailer in the States called Beauty Habit (I think), it would be US$140 +$36 postage, so very much cheaper than buying it across the road for NZ$400, but still and all, even from the US, it’s rather a lot of pennies. Enablers desist: I need to be talked down from the ledge.
Be well, all. Enjoy Good Friday if you celebrate.
This might not be the *best* place to try to get talked out of a perfume purchase, but here goes: will it be deeply embarrassing to tell people the name of the perfume? I could never go back to the place where I got one of the best haircuts of my life, ‘cos when I was asked on the street I had to say “The Playboy Hair Salon” -!
Oh, my! The Playboy? What an unfortunate name!
You’re right, of course. If I were seriously wanting to be dis-enabled, I wouldn’t come to NST. I have a perfume loathing friend, and I’d talk to her.
I finally ordered a full bottle of bracken after spending months wondering what to do ( i had used up my samples ) $500 if I bought it in NZ or NZ$280 plus $23 postage from America. So $200 cheaper. It’s such a shame because I would prefer to support any shop in NZ that actually sells perfume ( other than mainstream) in case they stop stocking it. But $200 is too much to ignore. Upper Ten sounds good so I would get it. It will have a special meaning for you .
Yes, all that, but it’s nothing like as beautiful as the Fidji. Maybe I will, though. I should go to World and try it on my own skin. When I smelt it last time, someone said, “ Here you go, you like perfume, what do you think of this?” and thrust an arm under my nose. Then I sat next to her for two and a half hours while the perfume twined around me. A couple of days later, your parcel arrived.
BTW, if you’re wondering why I have time to keep posting, it’s because I received a series of frantic texts about half an hour ago telling me that our friend had mistaken the day. She goes tomorrow. ????
Upper Ten? For men or women? I have never come across either, but I see that the notes are very different. Both look very interesting.
It was UT for her— I saw the bottle in her bag. It seemed quite a hefty thing to cart around, but she’s one who reapplies make up/ perfume and re-does her hair in a really detailed way during the day.
I liked the slightly boozy grape note that wafted around her, but before I buy, I will go to World and try it on myself, because that’s sensible. And sensible is what I should be but seldom am…I think maybe I lack the “ sensible” chromosome.
Marie Salamagne is listed as the perfumer for Mimosa & Cardamom – yes, a woman! I initially found it dull, then the ease of it grew on me.
“Upper Ten” sounds like a neighborhood to me. I’m not sure what the actual reference is. If it’s what brought you back, sounds like a worthy investment. I, however, will always advocate for patience. Wait a while and if it’s what you really want, buy it. BeautyHabit does 20% off sales a few times a year – it might be worth waiting out until a promo code appears.
Even though you do not like one of my current favorites from Jo Malone (but you wear it, so it evens it out 😉 ), I’ll try to help you.
How do you normally buy your perfumes? If once you know that you want some, you just proceed with paying the full price, then there’s no good reason for you not to buy it now (and quickly – before it gets too hot here for perfume to travel). That’s if you’re sure that there is no better perfume that you’d love to buy and wear for the same $176 spent (btw, are you sure you won’t have to pay any taxes on top once it arrives?).
But if you usually wait for a better deal, shop around, etc., there is no good reason not to do the same thing in this case. Not too often but from time to time Beautihabit has sales (not sure if this brand would be excluded though) – so maybe you should wait for a sale? Meanwhile you can decide if you still want it that much.
Check, if this one ships to where you live: https://www.amazon.com/Upper-Ten-Her-Parfum-Lubin/dp/B01EM0GGMY
If it does, you’ll save. If it doesn’t, maybe knowing that the price can be even better will help you wait?

I debated in wearing this happy perfume because one is supposed to be somber on Good Friday. Anyway, it’s a good antidote to the gray day.
AS is the perfect choice for today’s project. You smell like happiness.
We had a very grey, cloudy morning here. No sunshine to wake me up, and I didn’t set my alarm. Whoops! 😀
It was a SERIOUSLY grey day here, wasn’t it? Bleah. I could use a bit of sunshine for the weekend.
The sun came out for a little bit earlier today but, boo hiss, I was stuck inside working. The past few days, my manager’s admin sent several reminders to enter expected time away. Nothing in sight for me even though I have 5 weeks.
You’ve ticked (almost) all the boxes (it’s not one of the two “designated” perfumers but I don’t think any of their perfumes would fit into your other criteria 🙂 ). Bravo!
I tried ????
A spray of old-formula Patchouli 24 divided between inner elbows and a dab of vintage jolie madame between the wrists.
Historically thorough.
I’m wearing Rose 31 by Daphne Bugey. I have tried it several times before and always seem to have a different reaction. Today’s verdict is “comfortable”.
I hope everyone has a peaceful and happy rest of their day.
Enjoying a day at home wearing Jolie Madame while doing chores.
I tried ordering a few samples on Luckyscent using the NST code for free shipping but am getting a message that the promo code isn’t qualified. Does anyone know if their is a minimum order requirement or whatever?
there is…
Not sure of the dollar amount, but I tried to use the NST code to order the Juliette Has a Gun sampler ($18 if I remember), and the code didn’t work for that.
I gave up and called them. There is a $50 minimum.
I am so surprised. I just ordered a 10ml travel size of Moon Bloom for a birthday present for $45 dollars and the code worked perfectly fine. I even added the free samples I am supposed to get with the order. Just wonder if it does not work when ordering samples or sample sets.
Possibly. The person who spoke with only mentioned the dollar amount. She didn’t specify but if it worked for you, that must be the case.
I recently ordered two sample sets that came to $52 so I met the minimum $threshold which I did not know existed and may gave spread an incorrect PSA.
No worries. You’re our perfume fairy god mother. ✨
Today, the wonderful “jasmine fougere”, Caron’a Le Troisieme Homme, by perfumer Akiko Kamei. In the past, I had not fully understood this composition… There is a kind of skanky-indole accord that eluded me, but now I find it totally indispensable for providing both uplift and mystery. A meditative Good Friday to all…
I’m wearing Rose Pivoine by Patricia Nicolai and I think my little sample is heading over to the freebie stash I have started making – roses just don’t seem to like me, for the most part (rose ikebana excepted – but that’s not real rosey to me). It’s perfectly pleasant but just not working for me. I also smell this note that balloons fragrances or makes them feel hollow (a lot of aquatic scents have that for me – not sure if it’s calones or something else?). In any case, a good friday to all, whether it’s a holiday you observe or not!
It’s a Fracas Friday for me. I think this is the first time I’ve been twins with Robin! I bet there’s quite a few of us today…
Have good (Good) Friday and a lovely weekend!
Fracas! I’m afraid to wear it!
‘One squirt down your shirt’ works for Fracas and similar projectors, in my experience. ????I find that method works for creating a small personal fragrance bubble that doesn’t bother others. In fact, my mom actually told me today that she couldn’t smell it on me!
Yes, we were a big crew today!
I don’t have anything by GC or JC, so I’m in Patricia de Nicolai’s L’Eau Mixte. Really enjoying the PdN Eau Fraiche collection I splurged on last month. Happy weekend all!
Glad it worked out for you, I really like PdN. I was just wondering, again, why I did not buy Vie de Chateau when she was still making it!
Neither a Cellier nor a Catapano to be found anywhere in my perfume collection.
SOTD = Cuir de Lancome, from the sample stash. Someone here on NST wore this the other day, and I was very happy to find out that it had been composed by 2 women. This is perfect for the rain and cooler weather that has blown in this afternoon. No more summer-ish weather for a while!
You smell divine!
I am sampling a few of Ineke’s creations ????
