Happy Tuesday! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Ormonde Jayne Isfarkand. Tea at the moment is a Kenilworth Pekoe from Upton.
Reminder: 2/9 will be Broadened Horizons Friday...wear a fragrance you initially thought was too [insert adjective] for you to wear. Suggested by Geordie.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the La Cavalière teapot is $349 at Palais des Thés. "La Cavalière teapot is the fruit of a collaboration between Palais des Thés and Ionna Vautrin. This 1l (33.8 oz.) teapot with a bold and streamlined design combines a body of fine Limoges porcelain with a stainless steel filter and a removable handle made of waterproofed leather. Only 600 hand-numbered pieces of this prestigious limited edition were produced. It has been manufactured entirely in France by two companies emblematic of French expertise (Haviland and Sellerie Selaneuf). The teapot is sold in a gift box adorned with an illustration by Ionna Vautrin."
Good morning everyone!
In my last 2 sprays of Nahema. I got scared 3 weeks ago when I saw my neglected decant had evaporated some. Since then, I wore it some nights. I am relieved now that this beauty is finished and that I enjoyed it with absolute delight until the end. I will focus more on decants in the next couple of weeks. I do not want to lose any of them.
Nahema is such a beauty! I am glad you enjoyed it to the last drop.
It is a fantastic perfume. FB worth for sure, but it will not go to my fb shopping list until I finish many of my decants, samples and full bottles that need to be enjoyed.
good reminder for me to check my decants!
Do not delay it!
Brrrrr its cold.
With the heat cranked up the air is so dry in the office. My lips are almost chapped, oh and I have some deadlines. Booo. Argh. So why am I even looking at this website??? (…because it is quite boring stuff I have to handle today haha)
But Ormonde Jayne Woman is keeping me comfort and it is very sunny outside!
well you will smell great as you work
Thank you and yes isn’t it great how comforting or supporting a fragrance can be?!
Agreed, smelling fantastic!
You smell so good
I heard a story on the radio this weekend about a researcher who studied procrastination. Long story short – it’s good for you! Promotes creative thinking. You should feel completely justified perusing this site, as I do now.
Yay!
I can see why that is true. Sometimes I need to focus for a few minutes on something entirely different to keep energy and creativity flowing.
And…I need deadlines in my work (not in my private life though haha), I work and feel better at work when there is some pressure and its a bit busy.
That has always been true for me, too. Give me a deadline and I’ll meet it, but without one, time keeps on slippin’ …
Can I fly over and sit by you? I’ll only lean in occasionally, and will help you with your boring work stuff. ????
Yes please! Id love to have some co-workers i can chat with about perfume…i mean..erhm..to meet those deadlines 😉
You smell wonderful!
Yuck. Weather forecast is calling for snow tonight. Enough is enough.
Scent of the Day is Coven by Andrea Mack (The Black Bottle). Didn’t thing I would like this but it is working well.
Ugh. And here tomorrow, my favorite: “wintry mix”.
I hate the wintery mix!
That is the worst!
Ditto ????
Whats the wintery mix?!
I am imagining something like Hail, snow, rain, ice AND wind ALL AT ONCE ????
Jiji, you’ve guessed it. It’s awful.
Oh my, that is horrible!????
Well you wont hear me complain about the weather here then…i guess we are blessed with three days of sun and freezing temps. ☀️❄️
Exactly! And if it also windy you can enjoy it even better…????
Usually snow mixed with freezing rain. Driveway turns into skating rink. Misery.
Wintry mix to me usually means macaroni and cheese, vegetable soup and binge watching television. So it’s not all bad.
Ha!
That’s awesome ????
“Wintry Mix” is code for “I’m not leaving the house for three days!”
We had 60 + mm of rain, and then the temps plummeted from +9 to -11 in an hour. My entire town is a skating rink, and some cars are actually enveloped in ice.
Stay warm folks
OmG… you have my sympathies! Time to put the crampons on the boots!
Worse than the wintery mix is the flash freeze you have now. Stay safe!
Oooh, nasty! Much worse than wintery mix. Be careful.
Yikes! Be careful and stay warm!
You smell great! For some reason Coven says “summer” to me.
I think I might put this in my seasonless category. The green notes would smell great at a June evening happy hour on the patio with a Sauvignon Blanc and spicy shrimp. Gotta ???? I’m just torturing myself. ????
And you’re torturing me!
Tea is vanilla tea from the island of Mauritius
Broadened Horizons Community project…Shalimar Soufflé Intense originally didn’t flankers that smelled nothing like the original
Broadening my little ones music horizons today by introducing them to the Gipsy Kings
Yay, are they enjoying the music?
you inspired me to wear Shalimar today 🙂
What does Souffle smell like?
Love Gypsy Kings…hope you littles do too!
They seem to love Volare the best followed by Bomboleo
Caminando por la calle — always cheers me up, no matter what.
I’m trying out one of the samples I got in the mail yesterday from Luckyscent of Maison Francis Kurdjian perfumes. Today is Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait. I couldn’t resist trying it even though I am very stuffed up from allergies. Well, it does smell good, but I should not have wasted drops of this precious nectar, because I know I’m just not getting any nuances. Phooey! I’ve taken an allergy pill and hope that in a while I will get cleared out so I can appreciate it more. This is just an academic exercise, mind you, because I would never spend that kind of money on perfume. But I just wanted to sample it. We have gray and rain today. But I saw some beautiful roseate spoonbills on this weekend’s outing with my mom in Galveston! (If you want to see one, it’s here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/94283635@N00/26217080478/.)
Such beautiful birds!
Beautiful spoonbill! I’ve never seen one of those. Thx for posting the link! (You smell lovely—hope your nose clears up fast so you can enjoy it.)
Gorgeous!
That bird is incredible, I’ve never seen anything like it (except the distant cousin made of plastic that hangs out on lawns in Florida?).
I am completely anosmic to Baccarat Rouge… Oil Perfumery makes a dup, I am considering trying it for $15.95 to see if I can smell it in that form since everyone raves about it.
Oh me too! I thought there was something wrong with my sample, so I went to Saks to try theirs and NOTHING! Sort of “The Emperor’s Clothes” story.
Interesting, I wonder what causes that. I can smell it now that my allergy pill has kicked in, but am not finding it at all transcendent in the way some people seem to think. I’d put Oud Satin Mood, Grand Soir, and Ciel de Gum way above this one!
I wasn’t blown away either. It smelled like a berry fougere to me. Maybe lots of iso-E or a woody amber? It actually gave me a headache after about 1/2 hour so I had no problem smelling it, I guess. But, yes, it has quite the fan base.
I couldn’t smell Ciel de Gum either!! I do love Grand Soir and Oud Satin Mood though.
Maybe the extrait?
Wow.
When my parents lived in Galveston, we saw the spoonbills. They are soooo pretty! And I think you smell wonderful. I love BR540!
Good morning Y’all!
I have to crank out some boring reports today, so wore Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere for a professional, “got it together” vibe. I think it works because I’ve trained myself to make it so! 🙂
Get ur done…..
Hey, any new videos coming soon?
Weird you asked that, because I was in my car last night, kind of working out a video idea out loud! LOL
That’s when I do my video planning and such…..on my long commutes!
So YES! TIme for a new rotation….
Looking forward to it!
yay! me too 🙂
Wearing Frederic Malle Dans Tes Bras, from a freebiemeet sample. To me it’s salty and quite odd, with lots of spices at the beginning and now mostly musk and earthiness. I like it very much and suspect it would smell very different in warm weather.
Many thanks to the CobraRose!
I’ve worn this a few times and I like it – the florals (esp. violet) really show up with me. But it has very little lasting power – or possibly I’m just anosmic to the musk.
I think you may be anosmic to the musk. That stuff lasts forever on me!
It’s very possible – Musc Ravageur is a polite little cinnamon on me, so I’ve long suspected I’m anosmic to whatever FM uses.
I don’t find MR impolite at all, mostly spiced vanilla though mine is a fairly recent version, but it also lasts forever. DTB is downright oily, funky, dirty. In a good way, of course.
Love DTB and it lasts all day on me.
Diam blonde today.
You smell great! That’s one of my favorites. I wish I had some, it would’ve been perfect today.
Hi Lucy, if you live in the US, I can send you some. My bottle is nearly full.
I’m at nancysfrags in the land of geemayle. ????
Thank you! That’s a really kind offer. I’ll send a message as soon sas I can, yahoo mail has been acting screwy this morning.
Yesterday afternoon I sprayed on a little Oud Bouquet, I could still smell it after my shower this morning. I was left to wear the only perfume to cover it up today… Angel liqour version. ????
Ha, perfect!
LOL!
Rockin’ the fab Queen Latifah Queen today. (Many thanks to perfumelover67!!)
you smell great! I have a little bottle of that, it seems to get compliments too
Enjoy it! 🙂
Going to try out Lavanila Vanilla Coconut shortly courtesy of a generous NSTer.
Yes, the vanilla continues. 🙂
long live vanilla!
Good morning. I am wearing Lili Bermuda Paradise and drinking a cup of Honeybush Acai Berry tea.
Your perfume sounds like a good place for a vacation! Is it tropical?
Not really. Its very smokey and floral. I am hoping it will work well with the heat this summer, since I hate giving up my spicy/smokey scents when its hot.
This sounds intriguing. Hope it works out in the heat.
good morning, I’m wearing Lancome Jasmins Marzipane, composed by the talented Dominique Ropion. Beautiful! It feels more honeyed to me than wooday almondy.
Ooh… I’ve been interested in this one. Do you get much jasmine?
I do, it starts green and a little peppery and goes on more animalic. It’s the combination of two kinds of jasmines. On the other hand, this isn’t as jasmine powerful as Lutens A la nuit, it’s softer.
You smell great! Love Jasmins Marzipane.
Continuing my month of roses in Aromatics Elixir. I used to wear this in high school and I like the current version less than my memory of it. That said, it still packs a wallop – I think it suited the cold MN weather of my youth better than the AZ desert of my adulthood . . .
I would like to wear AE in a vial around my neck and use it like smelling salts.
I read on Bois de Jasmin some layering recommendations for AE – use with Mitsouko or PW Tea Rose, if you are into layering, but that could be even heavier in AZ maybe
Mitsouko is another scent that I like but generally find too heavy for this climate – if I layered it with AE I think I truly could use that concoction as smelling salts!

Tea Farmer In India Leads Charge For Organic, Evades The Charge Of Elephants
https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2018/02/06/578316316/tea-farmer-in-india-leads-charge-for-organic-evades-the-charge-of-elephants
Thanks for that!
SOTD Shalimar edp, current formulation
broadening my horizons. Really, how much have I smelled Shalimar? 2 or 3 times in a store? And probably have admired it a few times on people in real life. So, going to give it a real shot this week.
My husband says “I like it, it has a strong baby powder smell, but not too powerful overall”. Once he said that I all I can smell is baby powder – the mind is a powerful thing! When I have smelled it before, I have gotten a pungent sort of rubber or oil smell. It does dry down nicely tho.
I used to hate Shalimar! It grew on me. Still have plenty of other classics that have NOT grown on me.
That’s good to know – makes me feel it is worth the effort !
I think you smell PERFECT! 😀
Thanks 🙂 i think i’m coming around
I’m wearing Dzing for the first time in a long time. I can’t quite decide if I like it or not. I used up a 5ml decant, and recently bought an 8 ml decant. Today for some reason I’m not enjoying it.
I struggle with Dzing – sometimes love, sometimes not!
The same happens to me. It is not an easy perfume.
There must be something in Dzing! that smells different to different noses. To me, it always smells perfect. Whenever I put it on, I wonder why I don’t wear it more often. But Arielle Shoshana stopped carrying it because they didn’t sell a single bottle. (I should note that mine is from around 2009.)
Oh, that kind of thing makes me so nervous – may it live forever!
Exactly!
It feels more like wearing conceptual art than perfume to me, and as such I think I appreciate it more than like it.. The perfume that really helped me understand Dzing! was Cuir de Russie, which helped me make the connection with the leather in Dzing!.
Okay, that’s interesting. I think I’ll A/B those two tomorrow and look for the leather. Thanks!
That sounds like fun. Good luck and report back if it helped!
I love that teapot, and I love Isfarkand – you smell wonderful, Robin! SOTD for me is TF Violet Blonde.
You smell wonderful!
I agree with perfumelover! I ❤️ Violet Blonde!
So sad they discontinued VB. It is great!
Glad there’s another fan. You have to appreciate iso e super 😉
I’m wearing Amouage Beloved today. It fits our CP because when I first tried it I thought it was too boring. It is a bit subtle compared to many of my favorite Amouages (eg Gold, Jubilation 25, Epic) but I’ve since come to love it and now own a FB. It’s nice to have an Amouage I can comfortably wear to work.
Beloved is so versatile. The odd thing to me is that I can never decide what category it belongs in. Sometimes it seems like an incense fragrance, sometimes a leather, etc.
I had exactly that experience with Beloved. It was a blind buy and I was so unmoved by it that I listed it on ebay – and thankfully it didn’t sell, since I tried it again about a month later and totally fell in love.
A Top 5 All-Time Favorite for me. Fell in love at first sniff. Wore it yesterday. You smell wonderful.
I had the same experience. Love at first sniff.
Wearing Making Of L’amour La Mode… (yep, that ellipsis is actually on the label), which I got a sample of when I was on my makeup/lipstick accord kick. I’m spending this week using up some neglected samples, and I finished this one off today. I’m not sure if it stands out quite enough, but still, very pretty.
Congrats on finishing one! Always an accomplishment, in my book.
In Rose Anonyme today, not too patchouli, not too rose. Just right for a break from spicyness.
Oh, I considered wearing it today. You smell good!
Thank you!
Making a decant of Stash so I had to wear it. I haven’t showered yet as my teenager came home from school yesterday with a fever, so he’s still asleep and I haven’t rallied to do much yet today. After the shower I am going to give Hiram Green Shangri La a good wearing.
Hope your teenager feels better soon.
Oh no, hope it is not the flu?
Yesterday’s post about the new Coco Mademoiselle flanker has inspired me to wear the original Coco today. I only own the extrait 🙂 🙂 🙂 It’s glorious!
It is glorious, and you smell divine! ????
Thank you!
Perfection!
It really is. I don’t know why I don’t wear it more often.
wow! jealous!
Thank you. 🙂 It’s quite the treat.
I’ve never tried the extrait – it must be wonderful (based on my experience with other Chanel’s perfumes in different formulations that I’ve tried).
Chanel used to do a five piece coffret of extraits during the holiday season, so mine is a tiny bottle. I love it, but I think most of the luxury is in knowing that I’m wearing extrait. It is nice, and better than the edp, but not so much so that I’d say it’s necessary. I do find both to be much better than the edt though. Next time you’re at a Chanel counter you should ask…sometimes they keep the testers of the good stuff hidden behind the counter.
The cold and dreary weather returned overnight, but sadly, without the promised and very much needed precipitation. Fate Woman got me up and out the door with only a minimum of grumbling.
On the related tea note, my SO is just beside himself about the demise of Teavana (curse you, Starbucks, for buying and then ruining a good thing), and our local store is out of their last supplies of most of his favorite flavored teas. Does anyone have a good online source for similar teas (he loved Teavana’s teas with big chunks of dried peach and pineapple, and their caramel sea salt and chocolate amaretto teas)? No matter how good my Mariage Freres Earl Grey and others, they aren’t ‘flavorful enough’ (his words) for his tastes. His moaning is driving me a bit mad, and he’s threatening to go back to coffee with all of those horrible sugary flavored syrups if I can’t find a suitable replacement soon. He doesn’t like Republic of Tea or any ‘supermarket’ flavored teas in bags. Any ideas would be most appreciated!
Harney & Sons Chocolate Mint tea is wonderful!
Ah, will seek out that one, thanks! He loved Teavana’s white chocolate mint tea, so this one is a definite contender 🙂
Has he tried David’s Teas? They have a lot of chunky fruity stuff.
Oh, the fruity tea’s from David’s are really good! I second this recommendation.
You might want to share this article with your husband-
https://foodbabe.com/do-you-know-whats-really-in-your-tea/
We love Harney and Sons teas in general. There is a Celebration tea with chunks of apricot that he might like. In the grocery store, Bigelow has a Salted Caramel tea that is really tasty. I try never to be out of it.
One tea vendor I have purchased from in the past is Capital Teas. They’re based out of Annapolis, MD, but do have an online presence. Lately they have been promoting their alternates to Teavana. I would recommend checking them out.
I keep thinking that teapot is wearing headphones. And I am wearing Caleche.
You smell fantastic!
HA!
SOTD is Jo Malone Orange Blossom (testing). Lovely spring scent. I don’t really get orange blossom from it – sometimes it smells like black locust (pseudoacacia), sometimes like tangerine/clementine juice. Perfect for this sunny and frosty day in February.
Glad someone else thinks it doesn’t really smell like ob!
I’ve had a chance to sample Christian Dior Eau Sauvage Cuir Fraicheur, a short-lived flanker reorchestrated by François Demachy in 2007. It really does smell like both classic Eau Sauvage and smooth leather, the slightly vinyl kind rather than the bitter or tarry kind (not a criticism). I feel that it also highlights out a spicy note in the original Eau Sauvage.
This was recommended by a friend who wears Eau Sauvage Parfum. The reviews on Fragrantic are divided between perfect and meh. Has anyone here tried this?
I’ve smelled the parfum and didn’t care for it, but I hear there are two quite different formulations of it. You may want to do some research in the male fragrance forum of Basenotes.
Thanks, that’s good to know. The parfum smelled great on my friend, but I don’t know what year it’s from.
Going big with two spritzes of vintage Poison. Oh ya, that’s me you’re smelling.????????
and you smell fabulous!!!!
Thank you!
Vintage Poison is heavenly!!!
I’ll admit I don’t know if I can handle more than two spritzes at a time! It’s intense for a couple of hours.????
You smell great! Waft your sillage loud and proud!
Thank you, and I did!????
You smell awesome!
I wore the Poison esprit de parfum (or whatever its called) last night. Of course I could still smell it when I woke up this morning! 🙂
Thank you! You smelled great too????
My day started with reminders of Memoir which was still hanging around from a 3pm spray yesterday. But it’s a new day and I cannot linger too long over the past. I got very inspired by the iris theme from both Undina’s Feb project (still only lurking there) and the SOTD thread here so went searching, and was self-embarrassed — you can embarrass yourself, right? — to discover I have a FB of Del Rae Mythique that I haven’t touched since I got it in a Black Friday sale in 2016. So that’s where I’m at now.
No need to be embarrassed. We’ve all found forgotten treasures -it’s all good.
And welcome to the scented neighborhood! ????
If it makes you feel better, I forgot I had a vintage bottle of Cabochard for like 17 years! In my defense I was protecting it from harm by hiding it very well.
That’s amazing! It reminds me of the time I found a forgotten $50 bill tucked away in my purse.
Mythique has been on my to-test list forever! I finally ordered a sample the other day. I hope it lives up to my [very] high expectations.
Dregs of Memoir is sooooo good.
Wearing Guerlain’s Bois d”Armenie from a manufacturer’s travel spray.
I also had a few Donatella’s worthy extravaganzas arrive from Paris:
Mad et Len Petit Papiers and a mini of Black Perfecto!
2018 No-buy is going about as well as I thought it would 😛 😛 😛
LOL, so is mine! I also bought Petits Papiers and love it. Black Perfecto is on the hit list when I get back to Montréal.
The hit list. Lol!
Looking forward to hearing about Petits Papiers. I smelled something else from that brand that I liked well enough that I almost ordered.
It is very true to the papiers d’arménie smell, principally benzoin.
ah..what do you think of your purchases
I’m at work and I have orchestra rehearsal tonight ( with some highly allergic people) so I won’t be testing till late tonight
I will report back though
SO jealous of your Petits Papiers!
I’m in Safran Troublant from the freebiemeet. This is so nice over the faaaar drydown of Theorema from yesterday.
Stay warm and safe today, NSTers.
Mmmm. You smell cozy and nice.
You smell delicious.
Hello Tuesday!
In Rive d’Ambre (Tom Ford- and yes from the generous samples by Nordstrom’s) clean and warm in equal measure, perfect for a foggy morning.
Breakfast: Walnut bread with avocado and nova lox (cured salmon) and plenty of homemade coffee. Lots of software testing to do!
You smell wonderful and that breakfast sounds amazing. I love walnut bread!
We had the best walnut bread in Korea. My dad would get it from a bakery close by and we had it for breakfast every morning with homemade apricot preserves. It was heavenly!
Oh that sounds WONDERFUL!
Wearing Infusion D’Iris Absolu thanks to a generous NST’er. I’ve had a bottle of the EDT for years and I love it. They are definitely related, but remarkably different. I’ll have to do a side-by-side soon. In any case, I’m in iris heaven!
Yes — the Absolu is really fantastic. The EdT is a great no-brainer iris, but the Absolu is like a luxury iris.
You smell phenomenal. I keep meaning to grab a bottle of that on one of the discount sites but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
I.m continuing iris month in Penhaligon’s Iris Prima.
A huge thank you as I am loving the Desert Essence Sweet Almond Body/Hand Lotion which I got at Vitacost for 55% off! Excellent recommendation for someone on a budget 🙂 I also bought with the same discount South of France Almond Gourmande soaps so I am in marzipan heaven right now.
Cool! Glad I could be of service to a fellow marzipan lover.
I’m supposed to be wearing Bvlgari Black but I put on a scarf this afternoon that I think I wore on Thursday when I was wearing Chamade extrait. Unsurprisingly Chamade is drowning Black.
Black smells fantastic!!
You smell really good, skin or scarf…… 🙂
I’m celebrating iris month in Jo Malone’s Orris and Sandalwood. It’s just lovely. If there was actual winter here, I would definitely want a bottle for an everyday winter fragrance. Does anyone have any insight about how it behaves in warmer weather?
I am trying to remember if I wore it in warm weather but can’t recall….either way, I really like that one as well and it lasts better on me than some of the other JMs. You smell great!
I wear it year round. I find it cooling in the summer.
Morning, best of good mornings, NST. I’m wearing Nahema too, although I’m not sure why. I like it very well, but I always feel, I think, that it’s a big sexy rose, and therefore somewhat out of my sphere of activity. But times and thinking change, and today I’ve teamed it with white jeans and boots and a severe taupe tunic. Seems to work OK, and happily, the dear one likes it.
In other news, the three Waterdragon felines are all now officially cats, having reached 9 months. They don’t seem to have acquired greater sophistication of behaviour along with their coming of age: Alexander is solemnly chewing on a cardboard box, Titus is beetling about busily with a pink clothes peg in his mouth, and Eric is lying pretty much on his back, hard for a slightly m cat to achieve, with the Purple Fur of Destiny in his arms. In other words, they all look slightly daft and entirely like kittens still. Oh well.
To work: staffing issues, writing the annual report, more staffing issues, beginning a big process of curriculum change for the undegraduate degree, and yet more staffing issues. I wonder if it will be fun? I should pootle off and find out. Be well, all.
Nahema seems like a great pick for you for Friday’s challenge. I love big sexy roses but I feel like they aren’t quite my style either. I hope work goes well for you today!
My new kitty is about the same age and certainly no one would mistake him for a mature feline. More like a teenager. Enjoy the silliness!
I always love your posts…..you have such a way with words! 🙂
I have 2 cats, and they couldn’t be more different. Gandalf is 6, and is already a grumpy old man who naps and eats on repeat. He really doesn’t enjoy excessive petting and attention, even though we all give it to him… 🙂
Shadow is 2, and is still 100% kitten. He hunts imaginary mice, jumps on imaginary prey, yowls at birds outside, and sacks Gandalf at every opportunity. Shadow has an overbite too, so when he stops to be petted or snuggle, he has the more adorable “fang” smile, like a vampire bat! HA HA HA
https://www.instagram.com/p/BeavT5agjKO/?taken-by=jadainga99
I love your cat stories, waterdragon!
Oh I miss having cats around. They are the best!
I too love hearing about the kitten progress. My three are pretty senior – highly affectionate, big snoozers and talkers when they are seeking treats. The oldest in particular, often sounds as if she’s yelling at me. So, hearing about the antics of your three is fun.
Ashoka from Neela Vermeire Creations smells so good today. I wonder if it’s because of the cold and wind or for other reason…
I’ll have to try it in winter, I never have. Maybe tomorrow if I remember.
Because it’s just that good. No other explanation needed!
SOTD is Hermès Eau de Pamplemousse Rose, I really do enjoy it’s bitter spicy greens in warm weather. It’s supposed to be around 80 in SF today. Looking forward to it!
Oh, you smell great today! Butter spicy greens always please me in warm weather too, and I get plenty of warm weather down here in LA.
Just got in from a three-mile walk, the Pamplemousse bloomed beautifully! I may take a decant with me on my trip to FL. Have to figure out what decants to take with me, Misia will be another favorite to take along. 🙂
Oh I wish I was in SF.
Boy, it smells good in here with all the iris in the air! As much as I love iris, I am way too commitment-phobic to commit to a month of it. So I’m having a Fat Electrician day. I’m trying to work through an ELDO sample set, but I have a hard time reaching for anything but this when I open it up.
I really like FE too. The ELDO sample set is a really good one!
Agent Provocateur, from a rapidly-evaporating decant. It’s realllllllly cold today, and this perfume is just assertive enough that I feel like I’m wearing another layer of clothing. Plus, I need to use it while I’ve got it.
Plus, you smell great 🙂
I’m wearing African Leather today. It’s supposed to be sunny and mild later on, but right now it’s overcast and a little chilly. I might go look at shrubs today. I put in all new ones last year and some did not make it under my “survival of the fittest” care.
I’m your cousin in Irish Leather.
I’ve been meaning to try the Memo leathers. Have you ones other than the African?
No, only the African. I sprayed them all on paper and African was “the one.” Bought a bottle as soon as I could.
Wearing Bruno Fazzolari Monserrat today for the first time, from a sample I received in the latest freebie meet (thank you, Pixel!). I’ve had it on for about an hour and I really like it so far.
It’s got a very realistic grapefruit note that I’m really enjoying. Maybe I’ll run out to the grocery store to pick up some real grapefruits soon!
I’m drinking some standard bagged Earl Grey today. It’s decent, but I could use a little extra bergamot.
Great choice!!
Good morning everyone,
in Arielle Shoshana – reviews here made me order a sample on Thursday or Friday, and it shipped lightning fast and arrived yesterday. The passionfruit opening is something else. But, as someone else said, I’m not sure I want to smell that much like passion fruit, and I get a sour candy note as well. Am I too old for this stuff? Maybe. But I’m having fun sniffing my wrist anyway!
I find it delightful, but I do have to be in the right mood.
Ha, maybe that’s what I’ll wear on Friday. I always feel fruity perfumes are too young for me, but I can’t resist the ultimate passion fruit saffron!
I like the dry down a bit better now that it’s been on my skin for a few hours – comforting passion fruit. Must read up on the review – I’m not sure I know what the saffron should smell like.
Back to one of my favourites today – Guerlain’s Encens Mythique d’Orient.
One of my big favorites too!
Gorgeous! This would be a good one to see at the split meet
SOTD Barbara Bui since I’ve neglected it this cold season. It’s hitting the cozy spot on this grey, cold day.
Yum!
What a nice teapot!
Continue to wear ELDO Attaquer le Soleil, for weeks now; I guess I am not a perfumista any more?
There are no rules! You are still a perfumista 🙂
It was an easy choice this morning – Iris Ganache (older formulation). It’s sooo good.
i never got to smell this one
I really want to smell that one!
Hello, dear NSTers! The sun is shining and it’s a heady 75 degrees outside! Oh how the weather makes my soul sing. I am wearing a blouse meant for early summer.
My SOTD is Jour d’Hermes parfum, courtesy of the very kind coin-op! I’ll give it to her–this stuff smells A LOT better than the JdH edp, which I’ve always found to be meh/slightly negative-old woman-floral. But I’m shocked to say coin-op was right–I get unripe, green mango up top. Then there’s a nice spray of very elegant citrus, before settling not into the horrible powdery white flowers of the edp but rather exceedingly elegant musky? woody? baby flowers, still a bit green at the edges, very careful and austere, as white flowers go. In short, this has really grown on me. This is not ideal–did I really want to fall in love with another scent?–but at least I’ve got a whole 2 mL or so to go through before I need to make any purchasing decisions.
Enjoy your weather!
Hurray for Mangoes!! Great description Koyel & glad you can enjoy it ????????
🙂 And I can still smell it on my skin now, nine hours later! That’s impressive for my scent-eating skin.
Sounds like a whole different perfume, and makes me want to try other perfume concentrations ????
Today I’m wearing Ormonde Jayne Woman…I love this scent and I don’t wear it that often.
You smell wonderful, and I need to pull out my bottle of OJW more often as well.
Same here
I hoard my Woman sample. I want a FB soooo bad. I use it sparingly because I do not wish to run out and then have none in the house!
Trying out the new Bvlgari, splendid magnolia (didn’t check the name again, sorry).. I’m not one to look at bottles much, but the bottle alone is super-gorgeously red, the scent a, maybe generic, but chic flowery-woody kind of thing, so in conclusion, why not?
Started the day in Dior Feve Deliciousness but keep winding up in Byredo Gypsy Water this week. I have a head cold and my sinuses are so blocked my teeth ache and this is the only thing that doesn’t seem to have any sharp notes that bother my head.
Feel better soon!
Oy! I hope you get better soon!
I’m late today, but that’s because I spent several hours at the animal shelter picking fleas off of three sick, malnourished, wounded kittens (do I have a glamorous life or what?) in between checking the internet to see when the Space-X rocket would launch. Kittens are now in a foster home and the launch was a spectacular sight, even for those of us who’ve seen many launches.
Came home and spritzed myself with Frapin Speakeasy and I smell good! 🙂
Sad I was busy and missed the launch. Such a good deed to help with those kitties!
Heh, I read this as “spritzed myself with Freakin’ Easy” and thought I must have missed the launch announcement of another Tom Ford fragrance ????
????
Hermes Iris Ukiyoé for me today. Does it really have iris in it?! I don’t think I would’ve recognized it if it weren’t for the name. I haven’t worn it for a while so I forgot how light it was.
Undina, I’m curious what you do get though… ?
It’s a very light floral bouquet with just a tad of citrus. It is very watery and pale. It is pleasant and easy to wear but I don’t think I smell even a trace of what I know as iris in perfumery. I vaguely remembered reading that it might be not meant as an iris perfume but rather an idea, depiction of the flower.
Ah thank you! Yeah, my experience is the same: much of what is described as iris smells like carrot seed at best.
Ugh, late to the party today. I am in Stash, which I just love now. I initially wasn’t sure- there is something in it that reminds me of how my dad’s aftershave used to smell growing up. But now I really enjoy it, especially this time of year.
Hurrah for Stash! You smell terrific !!
Selva do Brazil from a Grands Crus sample set. I think this is one to set aside until warmer weather to get more green blooming.
Off to my monthly knitters group where I plan to deliver the cap I finished today…complete with pom pom (thank goodness for youtube!). Turned out cute. The husband is, of course, wanting me to keep it. I think it will be more fun to give it away.
Yay for sharing the handknits! When a new baby arrives I will always knit a hat for the little noggin.
SOTD was Bottega Veneta “Pour Homme Essence Aromatique”. I didn’t like the plain “Pour Homme” but this was pleasantly refreshing if not terribly long-lasting.
Top: bergmot and citrus;
Mid: patchouli and pine;
Base: cedar.
Yesterday was BeauFort London “Vi et Armis” which in its original “East India” guise I thought almost nauseating, but very interesting. VetA is a lot more wearable, or else my tastes have changed a lot. :^)
Top: black pepper, tea leaf and cardamom;
Mid: whiskey, incense and opium;
Base: tobacco, birch and oud.
Hi everyone. In keeping with yesterday’s choice, I’ve decided to paint February black, so I’m doing Black Afghano by Nasomatto on my left wrist and Lampblack by Bruno Fazzolari on my right wrist. If nothing else, this is going to get me ready for a Broadened Horizon later this week because together they are both something … broadening.
🙂
Black is probably one of the easiest “themes” o follow: there is endless number of blacks, nuars and other variations of perfume names.
SOTD = Le Labo Iris 39
I am participating in Undina’s Month of Iris.
Le Labo and I go back almost to the beginning of my fall into the rabbit hole, around the Fall of 2012 (will check the date on my bottle). It was my very first set of perfume purchases from Barneys; I also bought Iris Silver Mist at the same time AND my first intro to the fabulous Beauty Bag Event. The difference between then and now was I probably went back to Barneys 4x before I took the plunge; these days, I decide a lot quicker.
Yum!
Eeek, I stand corrected. It was the Fall of 2013 when I got Iris 39 and ISM!
I think that in 2012/13 Barney’s beauty bags were significantly better.
Iris 39 is sooo interesting! I realize that it doesn’t suit all but when it works, it’s wonderful 🙂
I meant to wear No 19 today. In my semi-conscious state, I accidentally grabbed Box of Eels. Although I was craving No. 19, it was still lovely.
You can’t go wrong with Box of Eels!
SotD = Après L’Ondée
I’ve spent the day faffing about (school run, library drop off, pulling weeds, making smoothies, holding a neighbor’s new baby) in a glorious cloud of scent.
I think of this as “iris cologne,” as it is rather fleeting, which means hourly top ups are the way to go. 😀
Hope everyone had a terrific Tuesday.
SOTD is the much maligned LVEB– just a tiny spritz, which keeps it from getting too sweet and holds it down to pleasant little wafts. Supposedly this has iris, though I’ve never really picked up on it. Will try to wear something with iris tomorrow, both for the iris month movement and because iris is a note that has really broadened my horizons. I never would have guessed it was something I would love before NST. Really looking forward to the splitmeet!
D600. I may wear this tomorrow and we can be twinssssss!
You’re on! I can definitely get behind D600!
I wish I had seen this comment earlier – I’d have joined you too. But now I’ve already decided to follow hajusuuri’s choice for today.
Wearing 2 sprays of vintage Chanel 19 EDT on my right wrist and 2 sprays of Heure Exquise edt on the left. The Chanel is a tiny bit brighter and more green but these two are stunningly similar.
I tried The Ordinary primer this morning and was shocked at how lovely it is. It went on extremely smooth and sunk in right away, plus it had a nice slight fragrance as well. Seems like great stuff!
I find many similarities in these two, Love both but find a lot of differences between them (and need both 🙂 ).
