Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, and welcome to February! Plus, happy National Freedom Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: Honoré des Prés I Love Les Carottes, for the rabbits.
Reminder: on 2/2, we're doing Groundhog Day...assemble some winter- and spring-appropriate samples in a bowl, pick one at random, then tell us if spring will be early or late this year.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Together with Undina we’re starting our month of irises project. I’m excited for it.
Wearing Belles Rives from La Parfumerie Moderne today.
Sounds like fun!
I expect nothing less than fun! 😉
I’m swooning in a sample of Hermès Eau des Merveilles Edp. This and the edt are on my imaginary to buy list 🙂
Ack…sorry to add this to your comment! Too much multi tasking! (Robin, feel free to delete if you see this) :-O
I’m doing a month of roses! Yay for flowers . . .
Lucas, I and some of our friends/readers did a month of roses last year, and it was a great project – you’ll enjoy it.
I wish I could get my hands on this one! I can’t find it yet in the US. I am sure you smell amazing.
I did not know there was an Iris project, but coincidentally am in Iris Silver Mist
Oh, you smell wonderful.
Love the bunny pic!
Did the ‘Groundhog day pick’ today and I grabbed my sample of Heure Exquise!
(thank you Austenfan for including this beauty in the sample stash last year)
For me this is definitely spring time! And the sun is shining at the moment, yesss!!! 🙂
Ooh you smell wonderful!
Just perfect!
Yay.
I’m glad you are enjoying it, I hope many people keep on buying Heure Exquise so that Goutal’s accountants will decide to keep it in their catalogue 😉
My mother is still really pleased with your bottle of Ostara!
🙂
I am not sure yet if I need a bottle for myself, but the least I can do is spread the word how lovely it is 😉
It is classy and elegant but also carefree and warm (I read a comment on fragrantica comparing it to no19, but I am one of those few people who thinks no19 is nice but a bit too cold…hmm so no I dont think they are alike 🙂
Glad your mother is enjoying Ostara!
Oh btw, where have you ordered those small spray glass vials (2 or 3ml?) with caps on it?
I really want to try this perfume. Perversely, I won’t buy it even if I love it until they switch to the new bottle design, which I find really appealing.
Happy February to everyone. Looks like a busy month.
SOTD is Kerosene’s Black Vines.
You smell great Downtown Scott!
Oh I love Black Vines! That sounds so good, you smell terrific. Need to wear this soon.
Shalimar yesterday, Shalimar Initial L’Eau today. L’Eau is a lovely fragrance, though it’s nothing like Shalimar. A very enjoyable combo of iris, citrus and vanilla.
Plus, it’s a vote for spring!
Definitely. Shalimar is winter, Shalimar Initial L’Eau is spring.
I’ll do the Groundhog Day thing tomorrow though.
Well you could just use the 2 of them and see which one you pick with your eyes closed!
I have already prepared six samples (three spring and three winter) for that. 🙂
Wearing Hermessence Poivre Samarcante today.
I find it quietly interesting like so many other Hermessences (or JCEs), so I brought my sample vial to add to the office stash 🙂
Please tell me more about the office stash 🙂
Your own stash at the office?
Or
Is it a stash you share with the whole office?
It’s my own stash! For days the early morning home spritz vanishes early, is a scrubber, or i just forgot. I mostly work on my own in a decently sized cubicle, so i wear scents for my own enjoyment 99% of the time 🙂
I don’t think any of my (mostly male) colleagues wear anything, which is unfortunate since it would be nice to have a fellow fragonerd in the office.
Thanks for explaining.
Oh and Fragonerd…hahaha love that word! 😀
I saw it yesterday in a Bois de Jasmin comment thread and couldn’t wait to use it myself 😉
That is an old MakeupAlley term! (And MakeupAlley is where I met Victoria of Bois de Jasmin)
I agree with that sentiment….a good smellin’ fella is a good thing indeed! 🙂
Too bad! I used to share an office stash with my immediate cube neighbors, 3 women and 2 men, one who essentially tolerated the trial and error sampling and the other who was really into smelling nice. It was fun!
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! Welcome February!
In Chanel No. 19 Poudre to endure the crazy meeting where I am sitting right now. The “new” manager already got on some people’s nerves. Well, he does that continuously, but the confrontations in the mettings are worse. I did not have time for breakfast earlier and I am starving. Just hope that one more hour goes fast. Luckily, coffee and NST always come to my rescue 😀
No. 19 to the rescue! Hope the hour passes quickly 🙂
I hope so! 😀
Well, sounds like the new boss is making lots of friends already! Hope the meeting flies by like the speed of light!
It took forever! The more meetings he plans, the more “enemies” he needs to add to his list. The office environment around him is very, very tough!
Sounds like torture! Hope 19 poudre is keeping you calm and comforted.
Most of the time is a torture. Poudre is keeping me calm for sure!
You smell great! Poudre is on my short fb list.
..I say go for it and buy it!
I have to finish my taxes first! Then I’m picking one… maybe two fb. ????
Good for you! I’ve been dithering over a swimsuit for almost a week and this morning I finally had my “Life is short – just buy it!” moment. Now I will go forth and enable others . . .
Do not think twice about it. Go get that beauty!
Freedom from that meeting is getting closer. I hope you have a fantastic lunch today!
Yay for lunch today. I did not have any breakfast at all, so it will be definitely a good one!
We’re more than a house twins (I’m in No 19 EdT). I hope, you perfume helped you to survive the unpleasant meeting (I had my share of those in my previous company).
I survived! No. 19 never fails. It is the perfect perfume for though situations! 😉
OMG, what a horrid sounding day! Good thing you were wearing some scented armor for it.
I reapply twice during the day and it worked fantastic!
On a whim and even though it’s not at all appropriate to the season (we’re buried in snow!), a big splash of 1977-vintage Eau de Courrèges, which is really just a cologne, but the way cologne is supposed to be: vibrant citrusy top that fades quickly into a complex skin scent. You can tell it’s vintage because nothing these days smells so good.
Great choice! I have the vintage Courrèges as well and that is some serious summer time fun. Hope it chases the snow away! ❄️⛄️❄️ I was also able to pick up the Eau Hyper Fraiche for a song.
February is the shortest month, but it always feels like the longest. Grrr.
SOTD is Papillon Tobacco Rose which I’d wear in the heat of summer, too. I like season-neutral perfumes.
I guess we always feel February is loooong, because at this point we are already exhausted of winter.
And this has been a cooold winter. I’m over it.
It doesn’t even count as a short month, because it’s samdwiched between two long ones. It’s a trick.
You’re right! We’ve totally been had ????
8(
YOU smell great! Love TR.
Thank you! It’s a nice rose. Easy to wear, too.
you smell wonderful
Thanks!
Well at least you smell great, February aside!
There’s that! Thanks ????
Completely agree with your first sentence. Sometimes it feels like February has 35 days in it (horrible thought).
It’s the Tuesday of winter.
From the groundhog pile… Spring is coming!
Dame Honeysuckle
Very sweet, but so is honeysuckle – definitely brings me back to being a kid and drinking honeysuckle nectar straight from the flower
My fingers smell like Angel, because I was messing around with my perfume – man that stuff is powerful
I was also trying to detect the black currant in First and Eau de Charlotte – not sure that I’m getting it, but I love both of those 🙂
I have that same honeysuckle memory. I should try the perfume.
Yeesh. If I’m not mistaken, I have a sample of this I can send you. I really don’t like it, so it’s in my get-rid-of pile. Please send me an e-mail at ko bhatta at jee male dawt cawm if you’d like to try it so I can go look for it!
(Although I too have fond memories of doing that as a child 🙂 )
SOTD is The girl by Tommy Hilfiger, pleasant, reasonably light but with staying power and basically free in perfumista terms
Free is good! I never did smell The Girl and I still get it confused with Tommy Girl.
I remember this morning to say Rabbit!
Breakfast of champions this morning , black eyed peas curry with roti and some fried cheese on the side. Homemade chai. Since I am on “vacation” with my FIL here, my plan is try some hot chocolate as part of the NYC festival https://www.valrhona-chocolate.com/events/hot-chocolate-festival-2018
I was planning on wearing Black Perfecto but I think I want to keep with drawing samples out of my little bag, so I will report back with my SOTD
Oooh Valrhona, they make pretty tasty chocolates!!! Enjoy 🙂
OK..so I picked out of the bag Good Girl Gone Bad by Killian
Smells like spring..
and the opening smells like coconut! hmmm…maybe my nose is playing tricks on me since that is not a note in this one! Oh well..hot chocolate here I come!
Yay for a great breakfast!
Fried cheese. Mmmmm. Great way to break a fast! Have some hot chocolate for me!
Good I did not read your post about your wonderful breakfast earlier. I was so hungry that I would have left the meeting earlier…
Beautiful bunny! Freedom Day?! I can get behind that 100%. Working today then off for a five day stretch before I start my extended contract. Five days of FREEDOM! Heading out to the coast again tomorrow morning for camping and hiking if the weather cooperates.
Last time we were in that location, I couldn’t get the dog to go out before bed. Absolutely refused, which is unlike her. At 230AM, I was woken by coyotes yipping and howling right outside (seemed like it, but they were probably about a block or so away). Smart dog!
SOTD is Bvlgari Omnia. I like it. Like it a lot! Happy I hunted down a bottle even though I detest the spray mechanism. ????????
I probably missed it, but where will you be for your extended contract?
In in Salem, Oregon, which is snuggled between Portland and Eugene. Within easy driving distance to the coast or mountains. ????????
Enjoy your five days off!
Thanks!
You smell fantastic!
Thank you! I smell fantastic because I first heard about this one here on NST????????
Yay. Plus, soon enough there will be no more Omnia on the planet, so you might as well enjoy it while you can.
Have a great time! Smell the ocean for me, please.
Will do! ????
Nice! Enjoy and I hope T-Rex can show those coyotes who’s boss this time.
Pretty sure T-Rex knows her limitations ????
Wonderful Deva! Have lots of fun!
Thanks, hoping the weather is cooperative ????
Yay for 5 days off! Hope that T-Rex enjoys it more this time.
Me too! I love to see her having a great time- her tail goes a mile a minute????
Leaning hard into a (hopefully) last blast of winter today in Sienne l’Hiver.
Perfect! And hope it really is a last blast.
I remembered to “rabbit” this morning – yay – and am in OJ Woman today. Just beautiful, and seems to have more sandalwood than usual this morning.
Hmmm. I have to revisit my sample of the this.
Day 3 of Coromandel. #cantstopwontstop
still smelling great
My, my you smell good.
#cantstopbeingjealous 😉 You smell great!
❤ your SOTD.
You smell great!
I tried it a couple of weeks ago and quickly used up my small sample. Got 10 ml yesterday. Such an amazing, complex scent – “forest chypre”, as Tanya Sanchez called it.
This comment was a reply to SheriG’s comment.
I pulled one of Brent Leonesio’s best out of my grab bag. Florist’s Fridge is one of the most spring-like fragrances I own.
I actually used up a 4ml and bought another. Love that one.
I have worn that over summer and also Hothouse which is nice and green and fresh but softer than Florist’s Fridge.
I need to try this one–my mom used to be a florist and I remember well the smell of her shop and her fridge.
DSH Chinchilla today- gorgeous. Bought a travel spray of this during her recent holiday sale and so far I’m really enjoying it.
One of my favorites!
I bought the same thing during her sale, you are smelling great today 🙂
In Mon Exclusif today and really enjoying it. This one doesn’t get much love here…was it the stickers? 😉
I have sampled Mon Guerlain but ME is much smoother and superior to my nose. I will have to wear side by side to properly compare.
Robin, any date set yet for the Splitmeet please? Have to plan ahead for that morning to drink lots of coffee and compulsively refresh the page and all…can’t wait. 🙂
I swear I will get it set and announce on the Saturday poll!
There’s also vanilla in this one…lest anyone think I’ve moved on. I haven’t. 😉
Someday I’ll remember to rabbit. Joining Undina in iris – Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile from a sample. Haven’t found “my” iris yet.
Keep looking! 🙂
Noir Epices, feeling a bit gloomy, which will pass, I hope.
I’m sorry for your gloom. It will pass, hopefully very soon.
Sending you a little sunshine, dear Austenfan!
Hoping Noir Épices will comfort you and cheer you up.
Sending you a virtual hug and cup of tea.
I hope it passes, too. Feeling a bit of that myself today.
chin up, you smell wonderful.
Sending you positive vibes! You smell great!
In yet another effort to get my son communication therapy, we are retesting AGAIN. Ugh… gearing up for some lake effect snow wearing Orange Sanguine. Take that, winter! Rabbit rabbit rabbit ????
Ugh right with you, and very good luck!
Thanks! Sorry you keep getting my crappy weather. I think my weather comes from Regina and Madtowngirl. ????
Good luck! I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Thank you!
In my own throes of irritation and determination trying to get my son Regional Center services. Sharing your feelings of worry and resolve! You are doing the right thing getting him tested again in pursuit of the elusive but ridiculously powerful sweet spot diagnosis. Onward and upward.
Thank you. Your words made me cry, which I really needed to do. I’m bound and determined to get my children to independence before the worrying kills me. Good luck in your own fight!
Hugs, Lillyjo!
I’m blatantly stealing someone’s idea from last year and doing a month of roses (and I saw that a few others are doing an iris month!). Starting with Diptyque’s L’Ombre dans L’Eau, the scent that made me realize I like rose scents, especially for winter in the desert. Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit!
It was Lucas (https://chemistinthebottle.wordpress.com/2017/01/29/month-of-roses/), and you’re not stealing – you make the idea to live on 😉
Thanks! Glad to be continuing the trend.
Kenzo Kashaia over a passion fruit bath oil. I really like this soothing combination. (It’s probably too warm for it today, but who cares?)
Nobody!
That sounded weird — I meant of course we support your desire to wear what you want regardless of the weather!
Fragrance free for a week now! Came home from my weekly charity shop stint last Thu & felt more tired than usual, but put it down to dregs of winter flu I’d picked up at beginning of Dec & which seems to take ages to disappear completely. Woke up Fri morning with no voice & a blocked right ear, regained voice earlier in the week but gave in & had phone appointment with my GP yesterday. This is a totally different viral illness – oh joy! So it’s the old-fashioned remedies that seem to be working: towel over head while inhaling from bowl of boiling water, plenty fluids & rest, cotton wool in ear. Feeling a tad sorry for myself & don’t look that great either! Only upside is my wine rack is as full as it was weeks ago…!
Hope you feel better soon!
Thank you.
ouch, so sorry you’ve had a rough week. I hope your nose is ready for fragrance soon!
Thank you – I’m working on it!
Yuck. I hope you recover quickly!
Yuck indeed – can’t remember ever feeling so under the weather, even on & off, for such a long time.
Ugh. Sounds pretty miserable. Hoping you feel better soon!
Thank you – I hope so too!
So many people are sick this year, sounds miserable. Hope you feel better soon.
Indeed – our small band of volunteers at the children’s charity shop have been hit hard by absences, mine included. Thank you for your kind wishes.
Oof. Feel better soon!
Many thanks.
It sounds awful. Rest and feel better soon!
Thank you so much.
It’ll pass soon, you’ll see! Take care of yourself.
I do hope so, & thank you.
Bletch on the new bug! Hopefully you will be rid of that sooner rather than later.
Thank you so much.
SotD = Hiris!
I smell just slightly carrot-y.
Remembered to say my 3 rabbits this morning.
It’s gonna be a great month.
Now what shall I do with today?
Agatha Christie’s answer:
http://baileye.tumblr.com/post/170212067627/now-what-shall-i-do-with-today
Thanks for posting that – I really enjoyed it!
I’m glad you liked Agatha Christie’s what-shall-I-do musings. 🙂 She had an interesting mind.
Twins! I’m happily wearing Hiris too.
Hi twin! **waves**
We smell great. 🙂
Welcome February….May Spring be close behind you, and Flu season in the rearview! 🙂
Wearing the warm hug of Chanel No 5 EdT. It’s simply the BEST!
Having a bit of drama with the 2 teenage girls (and pre-teen boy!) in the house….Just the normal pushback and attitude that adolescence sometimes brings. Chanel No 5 is reminding me that this too shall pass, and then come back around yet again with the next generation: my grandkids someday! Karma always comes around! LOL! (Chanel No 5 has helped many a mom cope since 1921, I’m betting!) 🙂
Teen drama is at new high over here too. I blame it on the full moon, ha!
You smell GREAT in No. 5.
My mother says that I became a teacher as karmic revenge for how I behaved as a teenager. She’s probably right.
Oh Lord, teenage drama. Hang in there, mama. You smell lovely (and like my own dear long-suffering mother, who put up with A Lot)!
Not having kids, I admire the equilibrium of parents of teenagers. There’s a talent to outwardly taking them seriously yet inwardly chuckling at the drama.
Humor is PARAMOUNT to surviving this period of our lives! LOL 🙂
“When your children are teenagers, it’s important to have a dog so that someone in the house is glad to see you.” -Nora Ephron
“Adolescence is a period of rapid changes. Between the ages of 12-17, a parent ages as much as 20 years!” -Unknown
I found my first grey hair the day I brought my daughter home.
Last night I made a list of my perfumes that feature iris. Those of you know me will not be surprised to hear I found more than 28 in my collection. 🙂 So here is my lineup for February:

Wow! Thanks for the list. That will save me some work because I have many of those, even if just in samples or decants.
That is amazing. So glad to see Infusion d’Iris EdT (my favorite of the various formulations) and Après l’Ondée and Insolence and Dzonkha and and and . . . just wow.
I thought I might wear Hiris exclusively until I can’t go another day, but your list makes me wonder if I can make it to this afternoon without straying. 🙂
I’m swooning just reading the list!
Wow, nice list!
Wow what a great list and so many!
The list of my whole collection is shorter than this one haha (unless we include samples…).
Thanks for the list. Wow, I have 18 of the ones on your list.
fabulous list! thanks for sharing! 😀
Wow – amazing list!
Genuflecting! Whoah! And you will smell absolutely gorgeous all month.
Dang! Hats off to you!
You’re so organized, I’m very impressed! Also somewhat surprised, because I don’t think of myself as liking iris very much, but I do have a few on this list that I love (notably Unspoken) and wouldn’t have associated with iris.
Awesome list!
Wowee! Are you planning on wearing them in this order?
No, I listed them randomly. Today I wore Byredo 1996.
That is an outstanding list!
I think this was the first time I remembered to say rabbit. I don’t really believe in superstitions, but it’s fun to see if I can remember to say it the morning of the 1st.
I’m joining many in iris today, Chanel No. 19 Poudre. I’m aiming for a week of iris because I don’t think I’ll stay interested enough to keep at it for a month. But we’ll see!
You smell great! I plan to wear this one during the month at some point but today it’s No 19 EdT.
I find it a little bit funny that “thrabbitsflower” doesn’t remember to say “rabbit.” I’m not superstitious in the least, but I think it’s a cute ritual (which I almost never remember in time).
Smelling pretty!
Happy Thursday Everyone!
My SOTD is Versace Bright Crystal. This is my “feeling frisky” fragrance! Lol! Have a good day everyone!
My coworker wears Bright Crystal as a signature scent. It’s really nice!
Morning, NST.
So. The new job started immediately, if not sooner. Goodness me, there really are some….people…in the world. I might get angry, I might get fed up, but I will never get bored. I might even get some fun. Hope so.
The dear one is hurting deep and hiding it beneath layers of busy-ness, and I’m letting him do everything because he needs to. Whenever anyone hugs him or says kind things, it pierces his protection and he gets a little emotional, but even knowing that, I told him about all your kind words when I saw them last night. He went quite still for a bit, then said, “Thank your fragrant friends. That blog sounds like the best bit of the internet.” So there you are, Robin and NST-ites everywhere, the verdict is in: NST rules. We knew it, but it’s nice when a perfume non-fancier agrees.
SOTD is Cristalle: bright and full of light. I have a difficult meeting this afternoon, and I want the clarity and coherence of Cristalle. Also, we’re in the aftermath of the storm and Cristalle fights back against low skies and dark air. I seem to be in a Chanel rut right now, but that’s OK: I have time to be more adventurous later.
Be well, all.
I hope you get some fun as well. Maybe in your new position you’ll get exposed to the best members of your university as well as the trying and irritating ones?
Nothing wrong with a Chanel rut – it’s a gorgeous rut to be in.
Your words touched a chord, waterdragon, so I went back & read your previous posts. Please accept my condolences on your loss & congratulations on the new job. I’m similar to your husband at such times, I get on with practical things & am fine until someone is nice to me – my husband, despite 30+ years together, still doesn’t know what to do with me in this situation, so just steers clear. I do hope that the service goes as well as these things can, & that your new job works out well. You will both be in my thoughts.
You described Cristalle perfectly. Again, my deepest sympathies to you and your husband.
You university is so lucky to have you. And my condolences to you and your husband. Such a hard time, when a parent goes.
Chanel is always good to make a strong impression and to deal with myriad people, places, and things. Stay strong and this too will pass.
I would say that Chanel is exactly what you need right know for your current circumstances. Not the same as a rut.
I remember Mr. Jalapeno being rather stoic after his father passed away in 2016. I just had to step away and let him work through that in his way, rather than how I would.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. There is no easy way through it and sometimes just being there is enough.
I hope you get all you are wishing for at your new position, especially the fun. You are smelling fabulous in your Chanel.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit! This might be the first day in my LIFE where r3 was one of the first things I said in the morning, and likely the first coherent thing! It’s all very exciting.
SOTD is TF Black Orchid. One of my early loves and the first thing I got in a swapmeet! I wear it less now that I have roughly two thousand scents to choose from each day, and my tastes have gotten less sweet in the past two years since falling down the rabbit hole, but I am still quite fond of this one. It also has a fun air of mystery because I have no idea how much of the bottle I have left. I might run out of Black Orchid at ANY TIME.
We once calculated, using a microgram scale, that a single spray on a pretty standard sprayer (yes, yes, many variables) emits about 65 ug perfume. Assuming three sprays per use, that means a 50-mL bottle has over 250 applications in it. At a glance, I might estimate that I have 50 bottles’ worth of perfume (including decants and samples and such). That works out to nearly 13,000 uses, or about 35 years. So if I stop buying perfume right now, assuming evaporation doesn’t result in a huge loss of perfume, I have just about enough perfume to take me to my death. This is a new take on that Rent song, 525,600 Minutes. How do you measure a lifetime? In perfume.
I think I would like musicals more if they were about perfume.
Ooh – let’s write one! It will be the next Hamilton. What shall we call it?
Well, whatever we call it, it should be something of note! (pun intended!!) Here’s my first whirl:
Fragrance of the Opera
My Fragrant Lady
The Scent of Muguet (as in the “the hills are alive with the scent of muguet. . . “)
Little Shop of Perfumes
Jean Patou Joy, Superstar
The Perfume Club?
And Hairspray and The Wizard of Oz might not even need to change the name 😉
I love ALL of these ideas. You guys are great.
A few from the modern canon…
Dear Donatella Versace
Gabrielle, Ernest, and the Great Perfume of 1921
Come From a Spray
Huh. I appreciate your scientific analysis! How many mls in 65 micrograms? I’m trying to up my # of sprays each time-depending on the scent.
And I love that song (and the play).
65 micrograms is 0.065 mL! So one 1-mL sample has a good 15 sprays in it. Or would, if those 1-mL samples ever came in spray form.
Your mention of micrograms made my day! I remember finding out that 3 drops from a standard transfer pipette was equal to 1mL in chemistry lab way back when. That info could still be useful.
Absolutely! You know, when I make decants of perfumes whose tops come off, I use pipettes to do it.
Eau de Sisley 2 is my SOTD.
I am also jumping on the iris train and enjoying Hiris. I just love this perfume so very much, and I am very excited to spend a lot of time in iris perfumes. Yum!
Have a wonderful fragrant day.
You smell very nice! This one is on my list for the month as well.
Good morning NST,
tried Theorema this morning after getting my freebie meet package yesterday (thanks eswift83 !!!!!) and finding a little sample of it in there. Love it. It opens smelling like a fancy cocktail (Manhattan, maybe?) and then I get subtle Christmas baking vibe in the dry down. Reminded me a lot of Eau de Merveilles, which I own, so sprayed that on my other arm – they are similar, but Eau de Merveilles is so much stronger that Theorema gets kind of lost in the mix….
Unseasonably warm in NorCal for the next week or so, but let’s see what the fragrant groundhog will predict here tomorrow for the rest of the month!
Hey there! 🙂 You’re wearing two of my favorites today, and smelling fabulous.
Thanks! I can’t wait to try the Le Labo samples, too – and hoping you may get something in the mail today also! 🙂
Lots of monumental changes at my work.
As of now the changes appear to be a step back.
Trying to take it in stride and keep stress at bay.
Current mantra:
“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.”
JM Lime Basil & Mandarin shower oil
Birch & Black Pepper layered with Tuberose Angelica
I love your mantra, Elizabeth!
You must smell intriguing! JM would approve.
Hang in there with work.
Many variations of this one but basically be like a reed….
The green reed which bends in the wind is stronger than the mighty oak which breaks in a storm.
Ah good luck with the changes at work.
You need your health. Everything else might (and will) change so many times during your life that the best thing to do is to try to find a happy compromise that allows you to feel the best possible in the current situation.
Your mantra reminds me of something attributed to Bruce Lee: “Be water my friend.” Similar idea.
Oof. Great mantra. Good luck! You smell intoxicating.
Nice, true, and easier said than done, for me anyway. Best wishes weathering all the changes!
Nice scent combo! Sounds like you have the right attitude to roll with it.
Hi NST, wearing Jungle L’Elephant on a cold day. I said goodbye to my mother’s caretaker this morning. She has been with my parents over two years, helped us through the death of my father last year and is a joy to have around – she works 3 days a week and I handle the other four. We share the same sense of humor and have gotten very close, she’s moving out of state and I just hate to see her go. I have a replacement lined up but her hours available are very different and she doesn’t have the same sparkle. I’m sharing this with you guys because I am really sad and needed someone to tell! Thanks for listening.
I know changes in this situation are not easy. Be patient and I hope everything goes fine for your mom and you.
I am sorry you are sad. The caregivers my mom had (she had ALS) were truly a gift and I know how much it means to have someone that special taking care of your parent. And you are brave to wear Jungle during the day… I haven’t had the nerve yet!!
I am so sorry. It’s so hard to get these situations at all right and to have it there and have to start over with a new person is tough. I hope it goes as smoothly as possible.
That is sad. They sometimes become like family members. I got attached to quite a few caregivers when I worked in home care and when the patient died, was sad not to see them anymore. Wishing you much comfort and hope the new person works out in the end.
I completely understand how you feel, and I’m sorry for your situation. But let’s hope that over time you’ll find something positive in this change and, looking back, will be able to say that it was the one for the best or at least worked out better than you expected initially.
Best of luck to you as your mother’s caretaker. It’s a challenging situation to be in.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear this. I hope the new caretaker will become a friend soon, too. Best of luck to you.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! My Italian grandmother always said that February was the hardest month (I think she was referring to the weather here on east coast of the US). I think she was on to something. Grey, overcast, cold……. Maybe CD Mitzah to counteract the grey? Or maybe one spray of the nuclear TF Amber Absolute. Okay, TFAA it is! 🙂
you smell great!
Thanks, Elizabeth! I needed a kick to get going today.
It’s a toss up between February and March for worst East coast weather but I will side with your grandmother. 🙂
I like and wear both of perfumes you’ve mentioned, so wholeheartedly I can say: Good choice! and You smelled great! 🙂
Hi everyone! I’m in Shalimar Soufflé, six sprays from the last of an almost empty bottle gifted to me from a nice SA at Macy’s. I’ve had this for months, so it’s time to enjoy it and let it go!
Hurray for using up a bottle and letting go!
Thanks! There’s not much in it, so I’ll count it as a decant, but it’s a good start.
Testing TF Vanille Fatale today. I like it probably better than most of the other vanilla-focused fragrances I’ve tried. That said, it’s tres spendy. AND I’m still not convinced I need a vanilla fragrance other than PdN Vanille Tonka (speaking of which, where the HECK is my bottle??) and vintage Emeraude.
So my son asked a childhood friend of his, who’s now at the same university, to the cadets’ Military Ball on the 17th. You know how I found that out? HER MOTHER MESSAGED ME ON FACEBOOK. (We’ve been friends for several years, and she wanted to know if there would be a couple of hours that day to take pictures. )
I mean, sheesh. Boys. They never tell you annnnnnything. I suspect I’m going to have to join forces with Gaze’s date’s parents if *I* am to get to see him in his dress whites…
Ha! Your story made me laugh out loud. My older son was asked to the senior prom (he’s a junior, high school) and the only reason we found out was that he needed a lift to a florist to pick up a corsage and boutonniere. He then tried to reassure me by explaining that the flowers were already paid for by his date!!! Gah! What!? Oh boy. He looks like a man, but boy is he still a boy.
And your story made me laugh out loud!
Both of your stories are great 🙂 Boys sound silly.
Boy did it rain yesterday. I could barely see the road during the downpours and lots of flooding. The surgeon says Alex needs to be on crutches for another 3 months …which will make a total of 7 months. My heart sank. First day back to school after almost three months summer holiday for my son. It’s a Dr Martens and ‘get it together’ perfume kind of day…Coco, I think.
Oh that is a bummer! I am so sorry.
I’m sorry about your husband but let’s hope he’ll heal properly and leave that injury behind him.
I don’t think I’ve ever tried Coco in a warm weather: it’s my “cold” (by the Northern California standards) weather perfume.
BTW, can you send some of your rain our way, please?
Tough news. I hope Coco is helping to sustain your morale.
7 months! That is a real test of patience.
I’m so sorry, Kanuka 🙁 That’s awful.
I’m in Twilly, applied a little heavy-handedly from a Nordstrom sample sprayer. I liked this one well enough on the first go around, but this time not so much. I think it does better when lightly applied. In any event, I am not hankering for more.
for me, Twilly was exactly the opposite – found it blah in the beginning, but now that my sample is almost gone I find myself wanting more – I find it really office friendly without being dull. But then again, there are probably lots and lots of fragrances that fit that description!
So much for the resolutions….to not buy because of good deal and to use samples instead…. the husband was agitating for a new, big bottle of Rhubarb Eclarte, so I took advantage of a Fragrantica 35% off coupon for him and added Idylle Love Blossom as a blind buy. The lilac!! Wow. Just one spritz so far. (Big enabler pin to Elisa P)
Count me as odd person out. I like winter, and I like cold (damp and overcast not so much). Maybe it’s that I like my winter clothes better.
I like winter too. I like summer in it’s time and place – love it even. But I also love winter.
Those sounded like necessities, and buying on behalf of your husband doesn’t count. Hope you like the Idylle! I’m half way through my bottle already. I spritz it pretty heavily when I wear it.
I like winter clothes but start feeling weighed down by layers, bulky coat, scarves etc. If I were a driver or didn’t have to go out, I probably would mind less.
I love cold air, snow, sweaters and boots. Unfortunately in Montreal it lasts too long and it’s too dark, so I can’t say I wholeheartedly love winter.
Hello, everyone. I’m wearing Zoologist Bat today. It’s not related to the weather or season, I just felt in the mood for something a bit on the silly side. Or the adventurous side. My morning class went especially well: we just started reading some Plato and after 35+ years of teaching it, I tend to forget what an adventure and delight it can be to students just coming to it for the first time.
How nice!
I would have remembered about rabbit-rebit-rebit, but I had the weirdest dream and was so happy to wake up that everything else became secondary.
In my dream my cat suddenly started meowing the way that I heard actual words. At first, I thought it was just a sound-alike, but then he kept answering me (it was a food-related conversation – as in “give me some sour cream”) – and, in my dream, at some point I realized that since it wasn’t possible for cats to speak, I might be having some episode… So I tried calling for help, but my voice was very weak, and then my speech became slurred, I couldn’t move… So I decided, in my sleep, that I was having a stroke. And then I woke up.
Enjoying Chanel No 19 EdT on this warm and sunny first day of February. I wish I could swap some of it (sun, not the perfume) for your colder weather and some rain.
Oh I hate those kinds of dreams. I hope you could shake it off fairly easily. I have these dreams where I’ve thought I’d woken myself up but I am still asleep and it can on for layers and layers so that by the time I do wake up there is this enormous relief alongside the yuck.
I do like that your cat was asking for sour cream though.
I had those too! Usually, when I snooze “for 5 minutes” before I have to get up. Sometimes I go through getting up and washing before I realize I’m still in bed, and it was just a dream.
Once I got up, I went and spent some time with my cat making sure he wasn’t talking. More human-like, I mean – otherwise he’s quite talkative.
After all the talking yesterday about all those episodes, I went to sleep thinking I could have one. Fortunately, I did not. I have not experienced it for a while. I hope you do not have another one anytime soon. And I cannot imagine your cat talking to you and you thinking you were having a stroke. Awful!
You smell fantastic in No.19!
I think it was a combination of yesterday’s topic on NST and a random “PSA” on the radio I heard in the last couple of days reminding of the signs of a stroke. I find it slightly ironic though that my first though in the sleep, once I realized that something was out of the ordinary, was not that I’m dreaming but rather that macabre one. And when I woke up, I immediately thought of that sleep paralyses discussion here.
No 19 helps to feel strong and positive. Hopefully, no more weird dreams for a while.
I’m wishing you very sweet dreams for tonight!
Fingers crossed that you have no more weird and/or unsettling dreams for a while!
Thank you, I hope for that too.
Oof. That’s a bad dream. Wonder what it all means?
If you were to ask my cat, he would have told you that it means he needs to get some sour cream 🙂
Yes, that part was clear ????
Without thinking finding myself with the iris wearers in Cri de la Lumiere. It’s maybe a bit more rosey on me than irisy, but both are there with exactly that big burst of sun as advertised. How do they do that?
Ambrette 🙂
I need to try this one since I like the brand.
It’s different from anything else of theirs I’ve tried, but then again, Corsica Furiosa is really different from Azemour and those are my two other favorites from them!
Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit!! and welcome to February. Still in the dregs of Chergue from last night, but may just add some more and call it a deal. Continuing with my 2018 resolution to divest and clear out the clutter in my life (and my attic), still working through boxes of books. How did I acquire so much stuff?!? Good news is that as I get older, I seem to lose any sentimentality and opt instead for recycle/reuse/and get it out of the house!
The older I get the less sentimental I get as well. Toss it out!
Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit! Yay, I remembered this time! Where did January go?? I realize that it seemed interminable for some folks, yet for me, January disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Going off-topic for a bit. I’m going to recommend a great hand lotion here. A lot of folks up here in the Northern Hemisphere are dealing with icky winter weather right now. One of the worst things about it is chapped hands. I found something that works for me to reverse that! It’s “Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Hand Cream”. A drug store cheapie, no less. Not affiliated in any way, just a very happy product user.
SOTD = same as yesterday. I know, I’m being boring. But getting reacquainted with some of my bottles was been fun this winter.
Drat! Stupid typo! “has been fun”, not “was been fun”.
Gold Bond is really great stuff, and the scent is nice too. 🙂
The best part about the lotion I am currently using is that it seems to absorb into skin almost immediately. No greasy hands!
SOTD is Sacrebleu.
Happy February, all.
Tonight I’m going to wear some Papillion Anubis. I’m more familiar with Dryad and Salome, so this will be a bit of a gamble for dinner-plus. That said, I’m in the mood for something amber-ish, so why not?
I love Anubis. You smell great.
SOTD = 28 La Pausa EDT
8 sprays to last all day and it did!
The leather came out to play today!
I am participating in Undina”s Iris Month project. Tomorrow, the Iris perfumes will duke it out and the winner will be decided based on a coin toss.
Looking forward to see what you will be wearing, ????
