Happy Tuesday, happy birthday to Kate Moss and Lin-Manuel Miranda, and happy National Religious Freedom Day. (And a quick PSA: the freebiemeet has been moved to January 27.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Tom Ford Vanille Fatale. Tea at the moment is a Keemun from Cultured Cup.
Reminder: 1/19 will be Vanilla Friday...wear a fragrance with vanilla.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Wedgwood Parklands teapot is £100 at Harrods.
Brand twins Robin. Tom Ford’s Orchid Soleil today, which I bought from TK Maxx last year – not massively discounted but discounted nonetheless. Heady, indolic, intoxicating white floral followed by a creamy, unctuous vanilla. Love it.
LOVE Orchid Soleil.
Your description is making me drool. Sorry. 😉
You smell better than I do!
I take it the new Private Blend is a bit rubbish then….
I would not call it rubbish. It’s competent, and it smells nice. I do think some people here have loved it. I am not finding it compelling.
I’ll just sniff it if I see it then!
Aww, that’s too bad. I was looking forward to trying it out!
I doused myself in Vanille Fatale yesterday (12 sprays) and it barely lasted a few hours on me. My husband declared it meh. I have to agree.
Yeah, I think “meh” is another way of saying “I am not finding it compelling.”
12 sprays is impressive.
Orchid Soleil is my favorite flanker so far!
I wanted to love Velvet Orchid so I could have the bottle in purple, but no, it left me a bit indifferent.
You smell fabulous! I held out and finally found OS for a great price in December. ????
Today I am wearing Guerlain Spiriteuese Double Vanille and Le Couvent des Minimes Cologne of the Missions (Eau des Missiones). They are often compared, and they indeed smell similar, but when I wear them side by side I notice their significant differences.
SDV starts as a vanilla liqueur (well, how I imagine a vanilla liqueur smells) – pleasantly sticky and boozy vanilla. Yum! As for the dry-down, it smells like slightly sweet powdery woods with floral notes.
Le Couvent has similar top notes, but this vanilla is lighter and fizzier – as if someone took that vanilla liqueur and added a carbonated drink to mix a cocktail. The dry-down is completely different from Gerlain’s – just pleasant, slightly powdery vanilla. Thanks to resins, though, it’s more than a vanilla cake.
Both are excellent vanilla scents, though Guerlain is deeper and more interesting (and very expensive).
Glannys, I bet that combo smells great.
It’s more like spot-the-difference game, but yes it does – lots of delicious resinous vanilla.
ITA with your descriptions! I’ve never found them to be that similar after the first few minutes. The SDV is so much richer, deeper and more interesting. … And more money, as you said.
When I first tried SDV last month, I thought: “OK, this one is richer and more complex than Le Couvent, but the difference is not enough to tempt me.” Today, when I tried them side by side, I can see that the differences are quite significant. I’m still not running to buy some SDV, but I admit that the idea of getting at least 3-4 mls is tempting…
In Philosophy Fresh Cream (Thanks Deva). Nice, cozy and enjoyable.
You’re welcome✌????
I think that is quite possible the only scent that I like from Philosophy. You smell VERY cosy indeed!
Thank you! I have never been so fond of Philosophy fragrances. However, I have worn Pure Grace during summertime many times when I need something fresh, simple and clean.
Fresh Cream is the best of the line and I really enjoy it in cold weather. It is very comfy!
I thought about wearing the last of my Tihota sample, but sniffed it and remembered I think the musk in Tihota smells like deodorant. Wearing Memoir Woman instead.
I love Memoir.
It’s good stuff. But ack those Amouage prices!
Oh Robin, how is Vanilla Fatale?
It’s likely going to snow in Houston again today, so everyone is panicking of course. We’ve had some weird weather this year.
I picked Le Labo Patchouli 24. The roasty notes are weird but not extreme. I doubt feel like it’s ever too weird for work.
Weird weather indeed. After all the warnings and school closings (I didn’t have to go for the start of the semester today), around my area at least it just looks slightly wet out. Oh well. A good day to stay indoors and read and peruse blogs!
I decided today would be a good day to work from home so I don’t have to be out in it. Doesn’t look icy on the ground right now, but there is a little layer of ice on my patio furniture.
Patchouli 24 is yummy. I’ve been thinking about getting a 15ml of it.
It is not as interesting (or delicious) as I had hoped.
See my comment above – my husband and I both found it meh, sillage is nil.
You smell great. I would love to come across Patchouli 24 “in the wild.”
What do you think of this new Vanille Fatale?
I’m wearing Aedes Copal Azur which accidentally matches with National Religious Freedom Day.
It is ok. I will review it in the next couple weeks.
I can see in your replies above that you’re not into it.
Copal Azur is fantastic. Much better than Vanille Fatale.
I’ll trust your judgement since I don’t know the TF.
You smell great! It must have been 3 or 4 years ago that a fellow perfumista made me the tiniest decant of Copal Azur, and I’m still using it ever so slowly. A tiny dab goes a very long way.
Thank you and I agree, it’s very efficient.
Ormonde Woman again. I should just keep a cut and paste entry for this until spring hits.
This one is on my “try soon” list, and your comments make me even more curious about it.
It is great and no one rolls eyes at me when I wear so I consider that it must be “classy” and not loud. It seems very fall/winter to me but that is subjective I know
Indeed it is very classy????
You smell fabulously elegant. I don’t blame you for repeating until spring!
🙂
What Glannys and SheriG said. I finally bought a decant of this after reading all the good comments here, and it was a very successful blind buy.
Enjoy your day!
You too!
I think I will join you in Ormonde Woman, even though it’s just from my sample. A great fragrance!
samples take you down the rabbit hole
It’s next on my FB list. There is nothing else like it for me. You smell amazing.
🙂
LOL! Ain’t wrong with that!
You smell great, and it’s a wonderful wintry scent.
SOTD is ELDO Une Amourette Roland Mouret.
More snow. ❄️☃️❄️ And more cold. Now I need more coffee.
I was curious about this one. Is iris pronounced nicely?
It’s a love/hate for me. The initial spray is a nice combination of floral and something very earthy and “dirty”. A little like a summer day in a beautiful botanical garden downwind from a farm with sweaty workers and a bit of a feral cat problem. But the dry down is woody and a bit spicy with vanilla mixed in and lasted all day.
Cliff notes version: not pronounced but definitely present.
Not on me. Mostly I get patchouli from Amourette.
And I got mostly orange blossom and tar
I sampled it last weekend and was unable to identify any of the notes. This is a seriously strange perfume! It has a quality that calls to mind tar or creosote, but doesn’t really smell like either.
The reason it’s such a novel scent is the Givaudan patchouli fraction dubbed Akigalawood®. Mark Behnke explains how they produce it here:
http://www.colognoisseur.com/new-perfume-review-miu-miu-mind-your-fractions/
It’s much, much stronger in Une Amourette. I would like to have a decant to sniff periodically, but I don’t think I could wear it. OTOH, Ari told me they’ve sold several bottles, so you should test it on your own skin to see.
Wearing original formula Hypnotic Poison w/ a 2002 vintage. 😉 They really butchered subsequent versions of this beauty.
Thanks for all the kind words yesterday. I appreciate the support.
I was not that into vanilla until a month or two ago but, lately, it is all I crave! I immensely enjoyed peoples’ comments on vanilla yesterday…looking forward to the rest of the week. Makes me think I should always plan my fragrances in advance for the week regardless of theme…quite fun.
You smell great She-ra!
Just saw your post from yesterday! Hugs!! And you smell wonderful. Fragrance helps to get me through as well.
You smell great, vintage HP is wonderful. Sorry about the drama, hope it resolves faster than you expect.
Hope the drama resolves quicker than expected!
Forgot about vanilla again. Scent of the day is the gorgeous and personable Jubilation 25.
You smell wonderful!
Perfect!
I love that one, and it is so changeable–sometimes it’s dowright plummy, and sometimes it’s all cumin to the point of unwearability. Such a chameleon. You smell wonderful and cutting edge!
Always a wonderful choice!
Wearing Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille. An old reliable fave.
Oh, I love that one! This will serve as my reminder to get it out of the cabinet to wear tomorrow!
Yay!! And that’s why reading other’s Sotd is so helpful. 🙂
Back at work after a lovely 4-day weekend. Another cold day and icy in the Land of Cleve, but hey, the sun is out! Trying to keep the cozy going in J. Crew (Arquiste) No. 31.
Ooh, I love that one! I was so sad when they discontinued it.
Continuing on with discovery sets, today I’m wearing Zoologist Nightingale.
Great choice!
SOTD is Aroma M Geisha Noire. Ambery, ambergris, aromatic with a dark, smoky non-edible vanilla. A winter favorite of mine.
That sounds perfect. May it keep you warm and cozy today!
Thank you! It’s doing its job today.
I need to get my hands on that. Ever since you described it to me once, I have wanted to try it! You have the rollerball, correct? I think I can get samples on LuckyScent…
I do have the rollerball which is the oil version. Also comes in edp. I’ve tested both oils and edps of her scents and slightly prefer the oil versions.
Wow. That sounds marvelous!
I think it’s marvelous ????
YUM
I can officially say you smell gorgeous (since instead of sniffing in store, I wore my sample.). I can see the oil in my future….
SOTD is Dior Homme, which doesn’t (apparently) have any vanilla but smells as if it does. Could be the cocoa? Whatever – LOVE. 🙂
Buttery citrus iris chocolate. What’s not to love? You smell good!
Oh, I assume there is vanilla!
Just wearing the remnants from last night’s spray of Amouage opus iv
Amouage Opus IV is wonderful!
yes, and powerful!
Inspired by yesterdays comments I’m in Dame’s Black Flower Mexican Vanilla, which smells much stronger than I remember – but my mini decant was also significantly lower than I remembered so maybe it’s just ultra concentrated now! It’s nice enough, and I bet I’d really like it on my husband. 🙂
You smell wonderful! ????
That is such a beautiful fragrance — a really special vanilla.
I’m not purposefully trying to be snarky, but here it goes… I think TF has really done some wonderful fragrances and I own several. I love Grey Vetiver, really enjoy Oud Wood and Tobacco Oud and, if it weren’t so fleeting, Neroli Portofino. I also seem to be about the only one who likes Noir Anthracite. That said, the pricing, the marketing (culminating with f-ing fabulous), is just a bit exhausting to me. That’s not to be critical of those who are big TF fans; just maybe not for me.
I’m a fan of Noir Anthracite. ????. You aren’t alone! And an even bigger fan of Grey Vetiver.
TF is a bit OTT in every way????
Exactly this.
I am over TF. The pricing and marketing are ridiculous. Especially after smelling the latest release they want $230 for 50 mls and it lasts 2 hours. Feh.
I also like Anthracite.
I think Noir A is fantastic too. Wait about a year for it to hit the discounters. I got my Orchid Soliel for an incredible price, but I had to wait.????
Today I am wearing Arquiste Anima Dulcis and loving it. Cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon, chili pepper = Mexican hot chocolate. Perfect for a winter morning!
Mexican hot chocolate is the best!
At the lube shop with husband’s car. ???? The 1998 Ranger that Taz usually drives to school is at the more-serious-repair shop, so The CEO was supposed to drop him off on the way to work this morning. Except he forgot and wasn’t ready on time, so I had to take Taz at the last minute. And just when I got home, The CEO caught me in the driveway and told me he was taking my car and I would need to get his oil changed because it was desperately low. “Oh, and it also needs an inspection sticker so get that done too.”
So grrr. Husbands, hmph. I’m here with my crochet and my phone and the Safari parfum mini I grabbed on the way out the door. I am grumpy and I want coffee, but at least I smell good.
I have spent way too much time and money in repair shops this last year. My sympathies. I do have the benefit of loving the shop and people I go to. That said I am making college payments for someone at that shop.
I’d be grumpy too????
And stranded without coffee is downright uncivilized. ☕️
Ahh, the dump and run. I get those too, often via text message when I’m out and about…..”Are you still at HEB? Can you get biscuits and beer and my prescriptions? Thanks and luv ya lots!”
Gotta love the dudes.
Ooooh, I’d be all slitty-eyed…
Oh dear, you’re like I was yesterday, spending hours at the tire shop. At least they had a decent coffee machine there! Good luck!
Hope your day gets better. I would also be grumpy without coffee…
You are much more pliable than I would have been. I congratulate you on your restraint in the face of such lack of consideration.
GMTA.
IT GOT WORSE.
The CEO’s car failed inspection. FAILED it. Not only does it have to have two new rear tires — which he should have known already, but there’s this Farmer Motto which goes, “always get the good out of every piece of equipment and use it right up to the last quarter-inch before the thing completely falls apart” — it also needs an alternator.
I got out of there and did the grocery shopping, just finished lunch, with full-caffeine iced tea, finally. Guess where I’ll be spending my afternoon? Getting quotes and a second/third opinion from the tire place (where the farm has an account) and the serious-repair-shop (where the farm also has an account). And still no “thank you” after two harried phone calls.
D*#& IT.
I’m starting to think The CEO is going to owe me something big. Like, maybe, a bottle of Lubin Epidor.
And thank y’all for letting me vent!! I appreciate the commiseration. xo You all smell good, too.
I’d go for two full bottles????
I’d go for one of everything!
As I often tell myself at similar times, “this will make a good story.” And it has! I see some nice scents in your future…
Wow! I’ve had cars fail the inspection a couple of times, but it was always something small. I am afraid to let tires go for too long, ever since we had a flat tire while driving through rural Kansas on a vacation. It is pretty funny now–changing a tire by the side of the road while a cow in the adjacent field was mooing at us, and a cop coming along just as we finished (of course!)–but it wasn’t funny at the time.
A bottle of Epidor and a gift certificate to a spa, perhaps.
Sorry you’ve had such a lame day.
Yep, you are definitely owed a bottle of your choice.
Another Hawaii vacation to drink Kona coffee, lest he forget that he left you without one.
This was my first thought even before it failed inspection: he owes you perfume! 😉
Wow, that’s terrible! I think he owes you a very, very nice bottle of perfume, possibly two.
Husbands sometimes ????
Knew first task of the workday would involve engaging in an unpleasant conversation via email (written response required); therefore, I selected something calming, centering, intelligent and austere; my ’08 bottle of Prada Infusion d’Iris edp. Thank God for perfume.
No fun – hope it went okay and good thinking on your fragrance!
You smell beautiful!
No particular vanilla was calling my name today, so instead I’m wearing Lush Cardamom Coffee. I love it when a blind buy = love!
That sounds fabulous!
Is it anything like that great Kilian scent with cardamom and coffee? Intoxicated?
I’ll chime in with a big NO. Imo, Intoxicated is fresh, no green, and smoother. But I know, CC has a lot of fans.
Good morning Y’all….
Will it snow or not snow in the Atlanta area? The next few hours will tell…. UGH 🙂
Warm and cozy in Bvlgari Black. Sweet fancy Moses this is good stuff!
It is really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really (Is that enough? Nope. Let’s have some more!) really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really GREAT stuff.
You smell amazing.
LOL! Is that your Lego BobH pic? Love that too!
It is! Specially created for last Fridays project but I’m gonna keep it for a bit.
Oh, I was channeling South Park with your new avatar! ????
I hope it is – the face of the intrepid reporter who interviewed Lego Batman. 😀
You smell fab.
Scent twins! This one is new for me. I’m really enjoying it.
I think it gets better and better as the day goes on! 🙂
SSS Winter Woods for a chilly rainy day.
I’ve been gifted an Apple Watch, which is SWEET, but now I’m online furiously putting a huge variety of bands in my Amazon cart. Who knew watch bands could be so cute?
Lol sounds like me – even free acquisitions can result in spending sprees. 🙂
Isn’t that the truth! ????
Looking at your blog — I want to eat all of it!
Haha thanks! It’s been years since I’ve had the time to add to it, but I’m toying with the idea that now might be the time to pick it up again.
Nice gift! Are they like Swatch watch bands cute?
Sorta kinda- so far I have 7 totally different bands in my cart, all of which could serve a unique and stylish purpose. (This from the woman who lives in jeans, flannel shirts, and Birkenstocks…cause I live on the catwalk, baby! ????). Many different materials to choose from; leather, silicone, print, solid, stripe, stretch/Velcro…ad infinitum. I’m thinking the porus bands would absorb scent well. Many are washable, too.
I think you should get an Hermes band in Ultra Violet.
???? yeah, not happening! Lol
For what it’s worth I really like how the silicone band of my fit bit holds scent. Good luck!
I got my first Scentbird sample in the mail, so I’m wearing that today. It’s Malin + Goetz Cannabis. Doesn’t smell like cannabis, which might be for the best..lol. It’s kind of a Timbuktu smell-alike.
The sample was bigger than I expected. I was expecting a sample vial, but this was like a travel spray. And it twists up, like a tube of lipstick, which is kinda fun.
From the video reviews I’ve seen, that dispenser is quite nice. Enjoy!
SOTD is Zolty Van-Ile, vanilla leather. The almond note is really popping out today (not a great thing in my world…)
I was underwhelmed by the Van-Ile sample I received from FiF, but I don’t recall a leather note.
It does not have much projection, but a great Vanilla 🙂 I did not get leather note from it either
Too much almond; I ejected the Van-Ile for today.
Switched to CBIHP 7 Billion Hearts: smoky vanilla. It won’t last long, but it’s nice while it’s there.
That’s a nice one but scandalously brief, even on me.
Yeah much too brief, especially considering the $. My 2ml sample will have to last me 🙂
That’s what had. I went through it so quick, I may have used the entire 2cc’s in about an 8 hours…Spritz. Sniff. Gone. Re-spritz. Sniff. Gone….????????
Scandalously Brief is fine for Valentine’s Day lingerie gifts, less so for perfume…
????
I love my decant of this! It had gone missing for a spell and popped up when I was preparing for Vanilla week.
SOTD is Dior Feve Delicieuse- so yummy
FD is extremely yummy. Need to wear that this week.
Total Yum! And pretty dang sexy imo.
I ❤️ FD! You smell heavenly.
Nice!
Shalimar Ode a la Vanille Madagascar. Perfection.
Oh, you smell fabulous.
Why would they ever discontinue this?
Agreed! Madness!
I think it is limited edition vs discontinued, same end result.
ELDO sampling today: Like This on one arm (smells nice but weird… not sure I would want to smell like that), and Fils de Dieu on the other. The description of the latter sounds amazing (rice pudding, coconut and lime… yum!), but Like This is eating it up right now. I wish my samples were sprays.
I’m liking Like This more and more. The first few minutes always reminds me of my Dad opening that old fashioned licorice bag, the kind that no one would eat but smells great!
Like This took a couple of times for me, now I have a travel spray. It’s quite different than most of my collection.
House cousin, in Bendelirious…
I went to a boutique in France that carried ELdOs and asked if they had a sample set I could buy. The SA said they didn’t, and when I asked if I could get one online, she said contemptuously, “You could, but you shouldn’t. You should come back here to try them on repeatedly. They sell these stupid little dabbers online; you can’t understand these scents unless you spray them on.”
Sounds like a plan: I’ll take a plane to Paris each weekend until I’ve made my mind! 😉
Typical arrogant French SA. Reminds me of my first visit to Frédéric Malle in the rue du Bac. She not only wouldn’t let me touch the bottles, I also was not allowed to smell more than three as « I would not be able to appreciate them properly if I smelled too many at once. » GMAFB.
SOTD = When We Cuddle And I Can Smell My Perfume On Your Clothes.
This is a perfectly named perfume…snuggly, warm, no sharp edges anywhere. Vanilla, soft woods, some musk and patchouli. Thanks, Mr. Tauer.
You smell great!
That is on my list for this week!
Another vanilla I own. I really could go for a month of vanilla with no repeats.
In Prada (Amber) the 2004 one, not the L’eau Ambree (which I don’t like). Patchouli, oakmoss, and fruit, and vanilla/tonka bean/benzoin in the base.
You know, I have to wait for that to drydown before liking it. But then, it smell incredible. You smell fantastic!
You smell fantastic!
I like that one, but would rename it Prada Patchouli on my skin.
I will be putting on Kenzo UFO before leaving the house, metal marble vanilla that subtly sticks around.
That is a very nice Kenzo and the bottle is amazing!
Great description.
In Lostmarc’h Lann Ael today, from my brand new bottle! I’ve had a decant forever, but it was getting very low. I smell like Apple Jacks! Love this one.
Congrats on your new acquisition!
I’m traveling and don’t have much vanilla with me, so I’m wearing Brussels Sprouted from a sample. A greenish take on the other nice musks I’ve tried from Smell Bent, which is ok with me!
That name is hilarious and I just had to google. Smellbent’s fun facts regarding this scent is also funny.
I love Smell Bent’s perfume names 🙂
Thanks for all of the get well wishes. This cold/flu thing really has knocked me down. Today is the first day since Friday I am feeling somewhat like myself again.
I found a scent today that doesn’t send me into uncontrollable coughing: Annick Goutal Nuit Etoilee.
The flu is wicked this year. Hope you feel better soon!
Sure hope you feel even better tomorrow!
Thanks! I’m feeling almost back to normal 🙂
Wearing the ever cheerful Profumum Vanitas today. Vanilla, orange blossom and myrrh bliss.
Yummy!
I am in Le Labo Vanille 44. Yum!
Yes-yum!
Hey Twin!
Things go better with SL Bois de Vanille ( when you’re lying in the sun ) day 3: Ambre des Merveilles. Nice!
The mornings are definitely getting darker
I will have to try that combo! Enjoy your sun!
Hello all!
1) SOTD: A combo of Pecksniff Sandalwood & Vanilla dry body oil and Schmidt’s rose – vanilla deodorant. I smell very clean, rosy and slightly sweet.
2) Did day of service yesterday for MLK Day ( but you can do that any day of the year that YOU choose: https://www.nationalservice.gov/mlkday
3) After all that, went to the supermarket and found beef shank slices for sale. I felt nostagic for how my mom would make these amazing stews, so I bought some and right now have a Crockpot with slowly stewing beef shanks, onions and carrots.
Yum on your stew.
You know, it turned out AMAZING, if I do say so myself- like how mom used to make, honestly!
I’m inviting myself for dinner! Sounds wonderful????
Seriously, any time! It turned out absolutely wonderful- with marrow bones to spread over toast with a tiny glass of sherry. I served it with mashed potato and steamed collards greens.
Yummers. Mom stews are divine.
It really was!
Wearing Cuir Fetiche today–no vanilla, but a warm floral leather for this cold day back at work…
SotD is L’Artisan Vanilia from a sample. I ordered this because of it’s 5 star rating in the guide, and my love for vanillas. To me it is mostly…banana laffy taffy…? Also the sillage and lasting power are close to nil. Just as well, since it’s a discontinued scent, the prices are ridiculous.
A lot of people loved that one! I didn’t get it either.
Everyone’s vanilla scents have got me drooling!
I have vanillas lined up for later this week, but today I’m continuing my layering project from last week with Kerosene Wood Haven + Kuumba Made Oriental Musk to sweeten it up a bit.
I’m nice and cozy in Cierge de Lune today. I didn’t think I loved it the first time I wore it but I can’t get enough of it today!
It is deceptively complex and wonderful.
Our hot weather is back, it doesn’t get this hot in Wellington very often. We’ve got all the windows open, and I’m still melting at 7.30 in the morning. I’m thinking Hiris in the heat, although the office is so cold that I really need something warming for indoors 🙁
Hiris sounds grand for hot and cold temperatures. My area had a few hot days and cold nights over the weekend. Eau des Merveilles helped me through it.
Continuing my sample usage. Today is Mazzolari Oriente. Nice OG floral oriental.
Sounds nice! I just tried Mazzolari Lei and Alessandro. Pretty, but not quite what I was looking for.
Chiming in from my break, wearing cozy, lovable Casmir. This is the 3rd bottle I’ve had since it came out, I still love it.
Still have to try that one, it sounds wonderful!
It really is nice????
I love it too, and have been also wearing it since it came out. I’ve got about 5mls left of a very old bottle. Do you feel it has changed from the original formula at all? It’s so cheap from the discounters.
You smell wonderful!
Thanks! From my first bottle when it came out to my second one, I noticed a difference. Not in the smell, but the projection. It’s just not as huge as it used to be. I think it smells just as good with this bottle, but easier to wear.
I need to replace mine–you smell wonderful!
I now officially have a cubicle!!!! Have you ever seen someone get that excited about a cubicle? I’ve been at the company for eight months now, and a long saga involving my broken foot and a cubicle thief meant I’ve been working out of a temporary desk this entire time. Everyone who’s joined in the past year has now been moved into new cubicles, and it’s so exciting to have my own place. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that this means an end to the theft of my snacks and iPhone cables. Also, this means I’ll have nice big monitors soon and MAYBE even a standing desk?!?! And I can let my gym clothes/swimsuit dry without feeling embarrassed. It’s all quite grand.
To celebrate, I’m abiding by the CP. Vanilla week is super duper easy for me. Today I’m in Eau des Missions, that splendid cheapie. I was sent a nice large decant by a very kind NSTer when I cried about how sad I was that it had been discontinued before I’d gotten a chance to try it. I love it, and will be respritzing throughout the day.
Yay for getting a new cubicle!
I love wearing EdM on cold winter nights!
Hooray for your new cubicle! You must be really excited.
Congrats on the cubicle! Co-workers who steal your food and phone chargers?! So uncouth.
AND low-classy, as a Yugoslavian friend used to say…
Cubicles — the new corner office.
Ahahaha 🙂 thanks for a laugh!
Yay! Hope you get a standing desk as well. I just got mine a couple of months ago and I love it
Do you not even have a locking desk drawer? That’s tough. Enjoy your new cubicle!
I doooo noooooow! 🙂 Thanks!
I’m snug And cosy in Chergui today.
Yum!
You smell so good! ????
Yes!
Vanille Galante for me this morning. I think I will go to the movies this afternoon and see I, Tonya.
You smell great in Vanille Galante. I enjoyed wearing it early yesterday then spritzed L’Heure Bleue edp over the remains in the evening. The combination was glorious and rich. But today I need a perfume palate cleanser. 🙂
Vanille Galante is lovely, but not nearly trashy enough for Tonya H…
L de Lolita Lempicka????
Love this vanilla with a touch of orange and cinnamon! Perfect for this snowy winter day.
I may steal this idea for later this week! You smell terrific!
Thank you! I hope you wear it this week too. It’s perfect on a cold day!
SOTD is Dusita La Doucer de Siam…I love them all with a special love for Isaara but this tugs at my heart. It is so beautiful.
It is the prettiest! Too bad it lasts as long as ScentSpirit’s “She Came to Stay”.
I sprayed it on myself this morning and I can still smell it…unlike some of their other perfumes.
This is really nicw. You smell wonderful!
I am in cozy, delicious Palo Santo (again from a sample.) I got this sample when I bought something else using a gift certificate. Wish it had been the other way around….
I debated about spraying anything, since I’m meeting an old friend for lunch and then heading to downtown Walnut Creek to wander in Nordstrom and other stores. I may see if Anthropologie has anything left of the Berdoues.
Is that the DSH Palo Santo or another brand? I love the smell of palo santo.
It’s Carner Barcelona, cazaubon. And very nice. It seems a bit milky to me.
No luck on the Berdoues at Anthro. But I did sniff some in Sephora.
Only made two samples at Nordstrom – Chanel No. 19 Poudre and Chanel No. 5 L’Eau. No one in the store, so I probably could have happily created more.
I tried a sample that was sent to me by Luckyscent from a company I had never even heard of : Timothy Han Edition “She Came to Stay”. It was okay but lasted only about an hour or so. At that rate, it should only cost a couple of dollars a bottle, but I’m guessing it doesn’t.
I guess she didn’t come to stay all day…womp womp 😉
Cost is way way way higher. Way higher.
SOTD = Le Labo Vanille 44
Non-gourmand incensy vanilla. It’’s a love. Pricey, but you can get a more “reasonable” price per mL by joining a split from a giant 500 mL vat of the juice. There is something to be said about seeing your name printed right on the label of the bottle….the price of vanity.
I love it too- you smell great!
Thank you!
Wait! Did you say FIVE HUNDRED ML’s?! Isn’t that, like, half a LITER…?!????
Yeah, a pint of perfume. Wow.
Yep, volume discount ????
Nice! I got a bottle of Vanille 44 at Colette years ago. Need to wear that this week.
I’m wearing Cuir Beluga today, I think for the first time? At first I thought “Hmmm, this just isn’t me – it’s too classy and glorious.” However, over a day that has been the opposite of classy and glorious, it has developed on my skin into the most lovely, comfortable, soft hug. This is one heck of a perfume!
its so lovely, isn’t it?
One if my all time favorites, definitely in my Guerlain Top 3 and has a place in my Top 10 of all perfumes.
CB is wonderful, the best kind of perfume hug.
SsotD = Eau des Merveilles (inner wrists) + Jour d’Hermes (outer wrists)
Was feeling very vanilla on Monday, needed to clear the olfactory decks this morning. These two scents are working together to do the job. More vanilla in the form of Mon Précieux Nectar is waiting in the wings for this evening.
The past weekend’s what-to-watch discussion prompted me to review my movie queue. I finally worked up the courage to watch Arrival (love Amy Adams) but avoid scary alien movies (turns out it’s not that at all). It is dramatic, but (spoiler!) ends peacefully. Very thoughtful storytelling. I may watch it again, the resolution was satisfying but mind-bending.
I agree–that movie had real depth, and although it was tragic, it was also very beautiful. Including those aliens. DO go see The Shape of Water, which has a bit of a similar mood.
I saw Arrival twice in the theater…something I never do. I was actually more affected the second time – I felt a kind of sob rise up toward the end and as credits started. I think it’s a beautiful movie.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille from a sample (from a sampler set of vanilla fragrances from several years ago). Not worth the price tag for me. Used up the sample which is one of my goals for the year.
Started the day with a vanilla vibe from Eric Buterbaugh Florals’ Velvet Lavender; ended the day with ELDO’s Noel au Balcon. Happy with both!
