Hump Day, and International Human Solidarity Day (plus the all-important Sangria Day). What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Jean Patou Joy, in vintage extrait.
Reminder: 12/22 will be 'Tis The Season Friday...wear the perfect fragrance to celebrate, share joy and look forward to a new year. Suggested by happy888cat.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017 or Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2018, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: shown above is Joy in the Baccarat Pure Parfum edition, 30 ml for $1,800 ("An exclusive luxury fragrance for exceptional women—only 50 limited-edition inscribed Baccarat Pure Parfum bottles are created each year for Jean Patou Joy") at Neiman Marcus.
Ummagumma today and many days ahead!! Plus I got a Fazzolari sampler. I’m gonna smell great for the holidays.
Now I’m craving Sangria.
Have an amazing day.
Ummagumma is so good. It is a new favorite for the holidays and the days to come. I think my bottle will finish very fast.
Joy in extrait must be gorgeous!
SOTD is Fille en Aiguilles – lots of pine and sweet resins.
This and L’ Eau Trois are two of my holiday favorites. You smell lovely!
I’ve never heard of L’ Eau Trois before. Researched it a little – it sounds gorgeous.
Glannys, it’s the rare resinous perfume that smells beautiful in both cold and really hot weather. The key is avoiding humidity, it does best in drier weather.
Thanks, sounds really good. I like Diptyque woods and resins. Pity it’s seems to be one of those hard to sample exlusive scents.
By the way, I do not think I told you before, but (being an owner/servant of a yellow-eyed black cat) I really like your avatar. 🙂
Hi Glannys,
Thank you! I do love my kitty cat, I have two fluffy Maine Coons and they do rule the roost!
One of my top 5 festive fragrances too, u smell very Christmassy!
I am wearing my recent FB purchase Shalimar Soufflé Intense.
I am putting together my list for my french friend
Shalimar Tea
Bioderma Sensibio H2O AR Micellar Water
And an Avene face cream
Apparently the Guerlain candles are also amazing. Not to add to your list of course 🙂
Really, which ones?
Those may be heavy in the suitcase to bring back..
I heard fantastic things about the Winter Delices
They sell that one here in the US
Its sold out at Saks! Wow…
Oooh, how do you like the Intense version?
I like it, Have you tried the original soufflé flanker? This a flanker to the flanker..hahaha
I can send you some to try if you like..email me
Yes, I tried it a few times when it was still available around here. I liked it, and those bottles! So gorgeous!
If she has time, next to Guerlain there is Biologique Recherche, tell her to get you and her the Lotion P50, best product ever for the skin and it lasts for ages!
Great! thank you Gabriela
I love that you love the Shalimar flankers!
I do! Do you?
Indeed I do. I never “met” a Shalimar I didn’t like. Although I have not tried the Souffle Intense yet.
I have a full bottle, let me know if you want to try
Question: Does anyone know if they sell the Shalimar Tea as a refill instead of purchasing the whole canister? Just wondering since my friend is limit on space…
Robin, you are definitely smelling great!
SOTD: J’adore L’or
Sangria! Would love some tapas with that too. Jamon serrano, patatas bravas, morcilla…. Tengo hambre 😉
Yum. Your tapa ideas sound delicious!!
Oh, I will join you for lunch!
SOTD is Vintage Opium extrait by YSL.
Wow! You smell great!
Thank you!
Wearing Bois d’Armenie.
I am going to be celebrating my good health news all month, so be prepared for some of my favourite scents.
you smell wonderful
A great reason to celebrate!
That’s an excellent plan!
Yay!!
Excellent plan! Life is short, wear all the great perfume!
Wearing Chanel No.5 extrait. My favorite Chanel and another perfume that I enjoy greatly during the holiday season.
You smell great perfumelover67!
I’ve never smelled No 5 extrait with all my olfactory experiences, there’s a first time for everything! ????????
????????????????????????????
Thank you Bear! No. 5 extrait for me is stunning compared to the other concentrations. It is worth to give it a try.
You also smell amazing in Parfum Sacre and look good in your Levis and flannel shirt! 🙂
You’re welcome, perfumelover67.
And thank you!
????????????????????????????????????
You smell beautiful!
Thank you! 🙂
Oh, but you smell so elegant and lovely! Yum!
Thank you!
Mmmmmm. You smell gorgeous.
Thank you! 🙂
Wearing Equipage and wishing there were a stronger concentration!
Love it. Great choice!!
Wearing a hot pink T-shirt, black pants and I am reeking of vintage Shalimar.
House cousin but not twins by any means
You smell great! Shalimar would be on my holiday perfume wearing list.
You smell and look great!
Looking and smelling faaaabulous!
Hmm, lots of people in vintage or extrait or both today! I’m in Vol de Nuit extrait, and loving it.
Oh, I have a bit of vintage VdN from a very generous NSTer. It is so lovely.
Erm, forgot the most important thing. You smell lovely!
😀 It IS gorgeous, isn’t it.
I’ve never smelled the extrait. I bet it’s glorious.
VdN is such a beauty. I need to replenish it at some point…
Another Smell Bent, another discontinued perfume oil called Gimel a Break. Fragrantica lists the notes as “patchouli, woody notes, jasmine, musk, honey and beeswax”. Mostly I get honey and beeswax, which are favorite notes of mine.
The name is cracking me up! 🙂
Smell Bent does some really awesome scents…..I need to sample more of ’em!
I just hate their packaging though.
I bought a FB of that 2 years ago. So nice in the cold
Gimel a Break is a joy!
Wearing Une fleur de cassie. I wouldn’t mind that bottle of Joy, although I was smart enough to buy a bottle of vintage extrait a couple of years ago. Love that bottle and adore Joy!
I wish I had hoarded more Joy when I could!
You smell wonderful in Une fleur de Cassie. I love it!
SOTD is Coromandel which is uplifting on this busy day at work.
I hope your day passes quickly. ????
It usually does!
Hang in there Petunia! You will survive with the company of Coromandel!

Bear, have you tried Parfum Sacré Intense? I understand that it is spicier and the incense is more pronounced. I have not tried it, but just wondering if anyone here has and how it compares.
I have a purple bottle, and will do a compare and contrast after Christmas. ????????????????????????????????????????
Off the top of my head, ???????????? Intense had more black pepper on my skin.
????????
So many perfumes!
So little time!
LOLOLOL ????????????????????
????????????????????????????
Good to know. Thank you!
I have tried the Intense, and it’s quite well-done. Yes, spicier and slightly more incense-focused than the regular edp, but also less creamy and floral, so it might depend on which parts of Parfum Sacre you like best as to whether you would like it better. For myself, after using up a 3ml spray of Intense, I decided I preferred the regular. I can’t remember if there’s a price difference.
I also got to try a sample of the original-release parfum dated from ca. 1992 or 93. Now THAT was amazing.
I love the creamy aspect of Parfume Sacre, however, being an incense lover I was wondering if there was a noticeable difference with the Intense version.

Wearing Eau de Gentiane Blanche. There is clearly something wrong with the spray mechanism on the bottle. It leaked all over this morning. I only have about 20 ml left in this bottle, so now I have a new 2018 perfume goal–use this up while I can still get something out of the sprayer.
Oh, what a shame! I would take it back to Hermes.
Good morning Y’all….
12 Days of Christmas Gourmands continue….Today I’m sporting Aquolina Steel Sugar, a tobacco gingerbread gem! One of my fave finds this year…..
That sounds very nice!
Mmm – sounds yummy!
Carthusia Mediterraneo today for a long walk with my sweet dog, then shopping. So fleeting but so lovely!
Yep, you smelled great! Hope it was a nice walk too.
Serge Lutens La fille de Berlin:-)
your new signature
Twins! It seems very Christmasy to me – must be the color.
I am wearing Alahine from a set of samples I bought last week on ebay, hoping they were old stock. Hoping that if they weren’t old stock, they would still smell good and I could discount the worry that Alahine had been badly reformulated.
NOPE.
It started off well, smelled like it should (sharp aromatic top, rich florals of rose and ylang, clear golden amber underneath), and then over the next hour began to morph into something that resembled a car fire: rubber, metal, smoke. My head hurts and my throat is burning.
And I’m crushed. How dare they? I can never give it its delighted squealy extra i’s again. I shall be forced to hoard my vintage bottle. I mean, this isn’t just disappointing compared to the original; it is actually a bad fragrance now. Shame on you, Teo Cabanel.
I must go scrub and put on a small spritz of the Real Alahiiiiine from The Bottle Which Must Now Be Guarded.
In other news, I just got a holiday card email from the tractor people saying, “WARM HOLIDAY WISHES from all of us at John Deere Financial.” Really, all of you at JDF? To whom I’ve never actually spoken, because I pay the farm bills online? Psssh. I am cynical.
A moment of silence for Alahiiiine
Thanks for the review
Will now go sob into my tea ;(
Thanks for mourning with me. 🙁
I like your style mals86! ????????
Thanks for the JDF guffaw! ????????????????????
Onward and upward! ????
????????????????????????
Well, I like YOUR style, Bear! xo
Oh no! When I get back to my perfume samples I will wear Alahiiiiine in tribute to past glories. What a shame.
The tractor card is funny. I got a thank you/ Christmas card from my local coffee shop – my Americano habit was bad this year.
I am so bummed.
Yeah, I got to wondering exactly HOW much we’d spent on tractor parts and repairs this year. Guess I’ll find out when I do the year-end books…
I’m so sorry about your favorite. Awful.
Years ago John Deere was a client of mine. Nice people. I’m sure they ALL do wish you warm holiday wishes…. corporate cards are amusing, aren’t they?
Oh, I’m sure they do wish their customers well in a generic sense. And if it had been an actual paper card from the people we actually deal with at the local franchise, that wouldn’t have struck me as weird at all. This? was just weird.
Absolutely. (I’m not sure it came across earlier that I was agreeing with you…)
I had the same problem with my sample, luckily I haven’t smelled the older version, and I say luckily because I won’t be able to get hold of the old version anyway…
I hate it when I find out that something good has been ruined before I even got to smell it.
Even before reading your post, I planned to wear Alahine today. Now I’ll add an extra spray to fully enjoy it in its old glory. I’m really disappointed. I’d rather they discontinued perfume if they can’t produce it any more for the regulations reason than to butcher it.
I KNOOOOOOOW. Give it a proper burial, at least.
I mean, I was upset about Le Temps d’une Fete being discontinued, but at least there’s not some FrankenFume LTd’F parading around and trying to be recognized as what it once was. GRR.
A tragedy 🙁
Yes. 🙁
Wow, that is crushing. And infuriating. I wonder if they did the same with other frags in the line? *Takes bottle of Barkhane off wish list*
This is so sad. I will wear my vintage Alahine and enjoy the glories of its days gone past.
Ugh on the Alahine, so sorry to hear about the headache! I used to hoard but now I have decided just to wear and enjoy…
Smelling fine in Note Vanillee today.
Debating get FBs of this and/or Tihota.
I can’t get enough vanilla for some reason.
I can’t either, and it’s not generally something I’m gaga for. Vanilla and patchouli is pretty much all I’ve been craving since winter set in. I don’t have enough of either in my collection, though. *Must rectify*
One that would be perfect for this week’s theme, and that I keep thinking about is Vanilla Hinoki. Unfortunately, I already ran through my decant so I guess I need some more.
I am really enjoying it too. Bought another bottle of Micallef Vanille Aoud off ebay and am wearing SDV today.
I’m wearing Lanvin Arpege today. I wore Eclat Arpege yesterday, and I decided that liked Arpege a lot better.
I am also drinking a cup of hot lemon ginger tea.
I am not a Lanvin person. But I do like lemon ginger tea 🙂
Wearing Chergui for a little warmth and comfort. I’ll be working till late tonight, and I’m already tired. Starting tomorrow I’m off for the next 5 days, but as I am hosting a party, I have a lot of cleaning to do the next few days. Not to mention a few more presents that need to be bought!
This is a tough week for many of us. Busy with so many things still pending. I hope you can get some rest after the holidays’ commotion.
You smell wonderful . Hoping you get some rest sometime soon!
Will someone please tell me that I’ve already bought my kids enough presents! Every time I think I’m done, I find something else. Feeling like a little leather today, in Cuir Amethyst.
You have purchased enough gifts for your children!!!
Thank you! Maybe I can sit down now, lol.
If they still believe in ???? (I sure do! ), too much is never enough. ????????????????
Sorry/not sorry! ????✌????
Rocker mentality! ????????????????????????????????????
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Totally agree 😀 😀 😀
You either ????
Not helping!????
Are you sure you have enough? I think your children would appreciate you smelling good in … what was your next bottle in the wish list? 😉
Right? I keep thinking maybe…. just a little something.
LOL — this!
Well, I’m sure your lucky kids would tell you to keep going! You smell great today!
Thanks! Hey, have you tried the BV Velours? Was wondering if it was worth trying out, it seems like it would be very similar to CA.
I have and like it slightly mote than original! But they are too similar to me for me to get Velours also.
I am totally addicted to BV and own both.
Enjoy the beauty and magic of their childhood during the holiday season. All those shopping memories and their happiness will be with you when they are grown-ups. But do not forget to treat yourself also 😉 You smell terrific!
Thank you! You are right.
I’m trying Commodity Leather today. It’s reminding me of a polite Lonestar Memories, which makes me realize that I never wanted a polite version of Lonestar Memories.
I’m curious how long it will last – I timed the longevity of their Bergamot yesterday and it was 45 minutes. Too bad, because I liked it a lot.
Have a wonderful last Wednesday before Christmas! Enjoy your day and don’t forget that you are all amazing people who smell incredible.
Your second sentence made me laugh! Thanks.
I really liked Bergamot too. It lasted longer on me, but after about forty five minutes, it quit smelling good.
I like many of the Commodity scents, but none particularly stand out to me…and as you said, unless I spray and spray, most die on me quickly.
I tried Lonestar Memories for the first time over the weekend and LOVED it, which was a surprise as I am not generally a leather fan. I agree that it doesn’t need to be more “polite!”
Wearing SJP Lovely, inspired by nebbe’s SOTD yesterday!
And it suddenly occurs to me to wonder if Lovely is still being produced now that she has parted ways with Coty? I suspect I knew the answer and have forgotten.
SotD = Eau des Merveilles. Hello, old friend.
I’m off to Costco this morning to buy some of the food for this weekend’s eating marathon. We will have a large-ish family gathering on Sunday. I look forward to feeding four teenagers who eat like it’s going out of style.
In happy and strange there-is-order-to-the-universe news:
Last week I decided to knit a hat for a friend’s soon-to-arrive baby. As I was heading out the door for a doctor appointment, I grabbed my favorite 30 years-old pair of knitting needles (cue ominous music) and a new ball of yarn. After signing in at the doctor’s office, I sat down to wait. I looked in my handbag, pulled out the yarn, but found my needles were gone! I’d dropped them en route. Argh. I retraced my steps to the reception desk, hallway, restroom, elevator, the long walk on the sidewalk and street crossings to the parking lot, around and under my car, then finally in the driveway at home. No needles. Boo. I went in the house and spent a few minutes uselessly trawling the internet looking for a replacement, then put it out of mind. Yesterday I came home from work mid-day, got out of the car, and the needles were right in front of me on the driveway. They were either hidden under blowing leaves or just hiding in plain sight. I thought, “Gee, I should get my eyes checked.” And that’s why I was at the doctor’s office in the first place. 🙂
So as Tigger would say, “TTFN, I’ve got some bouncin’ to do.” Have a wonderfully fragrant day, everyone.
I think Mercury is retrograde. Glad you were reunited with your old buddies ????
thanks, Elisa, I am glad too. I’ve knit so many baby hats with them, it was wonderful to find them again.
Mercury in retrograde! Perhaps that is why I lost the needles and also why I gave up my search quickly, an unusual course for me. Typically I go nuts looking for something lost, expend too much time and energy, and don’t find it easily or at all. Lesson learned. 🙂
Am so glad you found your knitting needles! Argh! I hate when stuff is misplaced like that!
Thanks, Ede! I was smiling ear to ear when those needles turned up. Losing something can feel awful. And when I’m rushed or stressed I’m more likely to lose something, and then I get more rushed and stressed, rinse and repeat endlessly. Must. Slow. Down. 🙂
Yes, yes, I am the same!
Deep breaths and cups of tea!
Hurrah for being reunited! A few years ago I got home from work and realized one of my (favorite) earrings had fallen out of my ear at some point during the day. I was utterly crestfallen. The next day as I was walking my usual route from car to office door I happened to look down and see it buried under some wet leaves. Such relief and joy – congrats! And hope your eye exam went well 🙂
Thanks, kpaint. It was a sweet moment for such a small thing.
It’s neat that you found your earring the next day! I am very sentimental about jewelry so I can imagine that finding it felt wonderful.
My eye doctor believes a long-term watch-and-wait concern is resolving nicely, so cheers to that! 🙂
Oh, that’s good to hear!
We found one of my mother’s diamond stud earrings in a snowy parking lot. Miracles do happen and it’s so wonderful when they do.
Wrapping presents in Mitsouko and crossing my fingers to finish before I have to grab my toddler from preschool.
Hope everyone’s holiday plans are going smoothly! My husband’s present was delivered (a week late) yesterday and . . . had clearly been run over. Tire tracks and everything. I had to ship it back for the refund and when I dropped it off at the UPS Store the woman behind the counter laughed and said, “Well, this is the worst one so far.” Hoping for no more Christmas casualties . . .
Oh no, that stinks! Hope they replace it in a timely manner!
I don’t think the replacement will be here for Christmas but he doesn’t mind – I’m just glad it wasn’t something from “Santa” . . .
There’s always that frustrating possibility of that happening this time of year. I do almost all of my shopping online!
Twins with you in Mitsouko. I put on some BBW peach body butter before bed last night and could faintly smell it this morning. I decided to continue the peach vibe and it’s lovely in the cold weather we are having.
So sorry about your hubby’s gift, it’s mind boggling.
That Baccarat bottle looks beautiful (and heavy).
Joining those in the classics today, though neither vintage nor extrait, but glorious nonetheles, with Chanel no 22 EDT.
Absolutely glorious!
Late to this:
1) Got together for wine and White Christmas last night with some friends. We drank and sang along, and i am pretty sure I am still drunk from last night.
2) SOTD: Started off with a locally made scent- Heliotrope (but I forgot the company name); it’s lovely but but a bit shy. Layered that over Amber soap from Ortigia Sicilia.
3) Am nursing a homamde coffee. Oy vey.
Sounds like a lovely time!
It was an EXCELLENT time!
I sing off key or out of pitch (whatever! ????) but I love doing it anyway!
Cheers Ede! ????????????????????????????????
????????????????????????????????????And a little hair of the dog ???? is supposed to be the cure ! ????????
????????????????????????????????????????
Off key singing along IS THE BEST SINGING ALONG!
And man do you have emoji flair! 🙂
I’m in one of my favorite combos today- a spritz of Noir de Noir with a spritz of my love’s Tuscan Leather. So good!
Wow! Yummy!
That does sound really good!
Roses and chocolate and leather…so many good things!
Hello, all. Carday has been and gone. We’re very pleased with it, though the real test will be the drive to Whanganui tomorrow. We have already passed the first milestone for a new car: we have put 100 km on the clock by driving out to collect kitten supplies from the breeder. If we buy their beef and rabbit from her, it is precisely half the price it is at the supermarket, and since the smalls eat about 1kg of beef every 2 days, plus rabbit, some wallaby, some salmon and other bits for variety, it is well worth stocking up every two or three weeks.
My SOTD is the remnants of last night’s Lyric. Goodness me, I’m about to utter a heresy: I’m not convinced I still like it. It’s a bit…obvious. No, that’s not right, because after all, I like Queen of the Night and Sahara Noir, and 1270 and Loukhoum. And Misia. They aren’t exactly quiet, unassuming perfumes. But something is amiss between me and Lyric. I will get to the bottom of this, or I will end up with the most expensive bathroom spray in the history of bathrooms.
A shower comes next, and then the application of a cool, slim perfume for the heat, some desultory housework, and packing. Maybe beautiful L’Ombre dans L’Eau or the dimly green and greenly dim Ninfeo Mio. Or the bright, sharp-edged Acqua Viva. You can see where my mood is going: away from the heavy and even slightly pompous Lyric. Be well, all and enjoy your gorgeous winter scents.
It could just be the day, or the season, that made it not quite right. But having that kind of experience with a favorite can be so off-putting, it always takes me a long time to get over it.
I had a craving for white flowers today, and Fracas hits the spot for winter flowers so beautifully.
Just finished decorating the living room with my Nan’s 1930’s Christmas decorations and evergreen foliage, starting to feel Christmassy! I also made evergreen wreaths for the front door and a special grave my family is visiting tomorrow; conifer, yew, holly a ivy, and some red ribbon. Drinking endless cups of milky chai.
Will probably wear Fille en aiguille tomorrow, as a nod to all this lovely green Christmassy smell, and will have to have some gingerbread too.
I was just thinking I might need to wear Fracas tomorrow!
I stayed in my nightclothes well past 10 a.m. but now I am dressed and have breakfasted on a homemade Rice Krispy treat. I could have chased it with some sangria, but hey, the day is young. The spice candle is lit, there’s a fire in the fireplace, and I am feeling quite festive. Unfortunately, it’s laundry and turn the mattress day, which doesn’t quite match up with “festive,” but the sangria awaits, so there is hope. I am wearing DSH Café Noir, very nice indeed.
That said, nothing’s better than getting into a bed dressed with fresh linens, so that’s celebratory enough! And your day sounds like perfection 🙂
Cafe Noir is gorgeous! You reminded me to unbury it from the back of my perfume cabinet.
Wash day here too – I love climbing into bed with fresh linens.
I’m celebrating my love of perfume and wearing Une Fleur de Cassie. It had been way too long since I write it last. It’s so easy to love and makes me feel luxurious. It wears like it’s my skin but better.
Twins, it’s one of those fragrances that makes me feel glamorous, and slightly more intelligent 😉
Just a quick pop-in to say HELLLLOOOO everyone! My comments always look pretty boring compared to those of Bear….lol(Hi Bear!)
Merry Christmas from me to me done: Frederic Malle set of 20 10ml perfumes plus atomizer. The set works out much cheaper than if I were to buy 20 10mls individually so I am happy with that.
The Dutch shop Skins Cosmetics opened doors here, they stock EVERYTHING from Roja Dove/Kilian/Maison Francis Kurkdjian and many more awesome niche houses.Even Vilhelm!Happiness!
SOTD Ex Nihilo Sweet Morphine.A tad too soft but quite lovely.
Be well all!

Hi Johanob! Merry Christmas! What a nice present you got for yourself! Enjoy it and be well!
Great news all around. Enjoy your Malle set!
Merry Christmas! That new shop sounds amazing! Enjoy your gift!
I’m proud to “know” someone who owns 20 Frederic Malle perfumes.
What a wonderful gift to yourself! Enjoy your new goodies.
I noticed some lilacs in full bloom yesterday. They were introduced to Otago around 1850 with the first European settlers and you quite often see the trees in paddocks near ruined farm houses down our way ( where it is cold in winter). So, lilacs and linden…what a combination for summer. We had christmas dinner yesterday as my mother was here but will probably be busting out the BBQ on the day itself. Wearing Gris Claire and French Lime Blossom so far…more later!
Lilacs & linden, how lovely!
Sprayed a light dusting of Pacifica Sandalwood early this a.m. and was surprised by how lovely the drydown is. I got a bottle in the last swapmeet and I’ve used it as a room spray quite a bit but it hasn’t spent a lot of time on my skin. I need to wear it again with a heavier hand, and was going to top-up until I read the article Robin linked on LL Santal 33 and sprayed that instead.
It’s one I’ve tested before and passed along to my H, as I found it too masculine. When I sprayed it today I thought, “no, it’s a style thing, not a masculine thing” that’s the problem for me. Turns out it’s both. Stylistically, it stands alongside Tom Ford (not my favorite house, though I’ve surprised myself by enjoying Noir Pour Femme quite a bit this season.) And it does remind me of a classic men’s fragrance – Fahrenheit or Grey Flannel maybe? All 3 have violet, which I usually love but is too much here, so perhaps I’m not too far off.
And now that I’m thinking about it… while reading the article Robin linked about Santal 33 I scoffed at its supposed ubiquity, as I’d never smelled it until a few months ago. But last weekend I took an hour-long bus ride and kept getting whiffs of something nice-smelling. I knew it wasn’t me, and realized just before disembarking that it was probably whatever the guy across from me was wearing. I thought it smelled a bit like Grey Flannel, but maybe it was LL! 😉 HA!
Hello, dear NST friends! To begin, I’d like to apologize for worrying some of you last week. I’m ok! I’m still congested, but I’ve been able to sleep mostly through the night for the past couple days with the help of Robitussin, and there’s been no bloody cough since I mentioned it last week. So there is nothing at all to worry about 🙂
However, there’s something else to worry about: the Dior SA tells me they’re going to scrap the whole Collection Privée next year!!! In favor of ~five very feminine scents in pretty pastel colors. This is especially sad because now that I’ve finally gotten to smell some of them, I’ve fallen for Gris Montaigne. Mmmmm what a scent. But who needs 4.2 oz of it????
On the other wrist, I’ve got the exquisite Portrait of a Lady. Every time I wear it, I wonder why I wear anything else. Yes, I wonder that about a number of scents.
I hope you are all having a splendid week! Stay healthy and safe, and happy holidays!
This is the second time I’ve heard that worrying rumour. Glad I bought my bottles when they were released earlier. Sounds like a stupid decision but Dior must have their reasons.
I am happy to hear you are doing better!
The SA said (though I have no proof) that the privee had been selling well, so I don’t get it. Glad you’ve got some bottles you like!! I’m thinking of snatching up some decants.
And thanks 🙂
Glad you’re ok!
Bummer about the Dior Privees. I love Gris Montaigne and I’m going through my decant quickly, yikes! I also quite liked Bois d’Argent. All seemed elegant and understated but I guess they’re not big sellers.
Thanks! Yeah, understated and so well done. I’ll get myself a nice decant of GM before it becomes pricy and hard to find.
So glad you are feeling better! And dang it! Now I really need to decide on Feve. Thanks for the heads up.
Thank you so much, lillyjo 🙂 Fève didn’t go as I’d expected on my skin. It was a bit…shrill? I’ll have to try it out again.
I thought some had been d/c’d long ago. Thanks for the heads up – I’ve forever wanted to try Mitzah and now I won’t. No use getting into an unrequited love relationship and all that.
Oh yes, Mitzah has been gone for a while! Good plan.
I am glad you are feeling better and the bloody cough is gone.
Yikes! Discontinuing so many scents at once to introduce only five seems madness. 😯
And yes, POAL is gorgeous. 🙂
This was meant as a response to Koyel’s comment.
Thanks, Glannys! I agree—she also made it sound like all five are going to be super feminine, with little diversity. Blech. We don’t need MORE pretty florals.
Oh! Super late in the day to draw attention to this, so probably no one will see it – but I’d meant to mention that some of the Berdoues Grand Crus, as well as the Floris Wardrobe set that was featured in one of the Holiday shopping guides, are 30% off at Anthropologie. Not sure how long the sale will last (today may be the last day.)

SO MANY TEMPTATIONS.
I’m recording my SOTD for posterity – lavish lashings (8 sprays) of Chergui, the better to smell me, my dear. I smell gorgeous.
🙂
