Holiday fragrance gifts 2017, part 6

Posted by Robin on 19 December 2017 11 Comments

Part six in our annual series of fragrance related holiday gifts features coffrets, kits and gift sets. (And, it is terribly late, apologies! It is just as well that for many of us, this is just another form of window shopping, and/or just as well that many of us buy as much in the week after Christmas as we do the week before.) Do add any of your own recommendations in the comments!

From Floris, the Perfumer's Wardrobe: "Inspired by people and events, past and present, each of the unique fragrances combines exquisite ingredients sourced from around the world. These oils and essences have been specially selected before being meticulously developed by the Floris in-house perfumer to express a story behind each creation. There truly is a fragrance to wear for every occasion. Presented in an exquisite presentation box, truly immerse yourself in the beauty and expertise of our olfactory world." With nine 14 ml bottles of Eau de Parfum (Honey Oud, Leather Oud, 71/72 for Turnbull & Asser, Jermyn Street, Bergamotto di Positano, Cherry Blossom, 1962, 1976 and 1988). $320.

Cuteness: the Deluxe Replica Fragrance Gift Set from Hermès, with 7.5 ml splash bottles of Jour d'Hermès Eau de Parfum, Eau des Merveilles, Twilly d'Hermès and Un Jardin sur le Nil. $50 at Bloomingdales.

From L'Artisan Parfumeur, the Collection d'Orient, with 5 ml mini bottles of Timbuktu, Noir Exquis, Al Oudh and L'Eau d'Ambre Extrême. $55 at Arielle Shoshana.

From MAC, a Shadescents kit in Crème d'Nude, with Crème d'Nude Cremesheen Lipstick, and 6 and 50 ml sizes of the matching Eau de Parfum ("Crème d'Nude captures a vibrant sexiness through a cocoon vibrant musk." $57.

From Comptoir Sud Pacifique, the Vanille layering trio, with three 10 ml travel sprays (Vanille Abricot, Vanille Coco and Vanille Extreme). $48 at Oak Manor Fragrances, where they also have a number of the brand's layering duos for $32 each.

From Diptyque, L'Ombre dans L'Eau in Eau de Parfum (30 ml) plus the matching Baies candle (70g) and a spiffy gift box. $100 at Bergdorf Goodman.

From Caswell Massey, the Steps in the Forest Essential Oils kit: "...a green, grounded set that showcases woodsy, grass, and citrus essential oils. Provides everything you need to blend your own unique blend of pure essential oils at home. Includes instructions to create a fragrance, body or beard oil preparation. [...] When we opened our doors nearly three centuries ago, we offered the same pure, fine essential oils to our customers that we used in our own perfumes and remedies. We continue that tradition, partnering with Essential Oils expert Michelle K. Gagnon to create exquisite sets of fragrant therapeutic essential oils from the finest sources around the globe." Includes 30 ml Argan Oil, 10 ml Jojoba, and 5 ml each vetiver, cedar, bergamot and frankincense (all organic). $62.

From Chanel, the Sycomore coffret, with a 400 ml vat of fragrance, plus funnel and a refillable purse spray. $590.

From Heeley, a Discovery Set with 15 ml bottles of five fragrances: Cardinal, Hippie Rose, Sel Marin, St Clement's and Menthe Fraiche. €135.

That tiny Twilly absolutely slays me with its cuteness. WANT.

And lol’d at the vat o’ Sycomore. Who in their right mind would want 400 mls of . . . oops, must stop preaching to the choir.

I want that Twilly, and I don’t even like Twilly.

I did not check the math on the Sycomore. It might be a cost-effective way to split. Or not, I don’t know.

Oh no, I want both the Hermes and the L’Artisan! And, yum, if some lovely person did a split of that Sycomore….

    I actually don’t think there’s much savings there. Isn’t it 200ml for $300?

Oops, I looked. It’s $350 for 200. I wish I was sold. Honestly, if it was 31 Rue Cambon I’d try to flex my budget… A few months.

Looks like they are doing this in Beige, Gardenia & Coromandel, that’s it for now, at least in the US?

I woul guess these to be the big sellers, give or take one or two. My mom went sniffing with me the other day and haaated 31rC. She sniffed the card for an hour and hated it every time. ;)

          She adores Twilly though.

I am surprised — would not have thought Gardenia was still a big seller, and would have though Misia would make the group.

I would get the Heeley set in a heartbeat if I could choose my own fragrances. Cuir Pleine Fleur is missing! I could live without the Menthe fragrance as well.

A pick your own trio would get my vote!
