Holiday fragrance gifts 2017, part 5

Posted by Robin on 12 December 2017 10 Comments

Part five in our annual series of fragrance related holiday gifts features scented items for men, although there are plenty of “unisex” ideas in the other articles, and as always there are probably a few things here that women might like. Do add any of your own recommendations in the comments!

From Boy Smells, a Trio Votive Set with Kush, Ash and Cedar Stack candles. "This trio is near and dear to Boy Smells' heart - they are the very first three smells Boy Smells created." (Kush is cannabis, suede, white musk, tulip and amber; Ash is firewood, smoke, charcoal, palo santo and hay; Cedar Stack is cedar, labdanum, juniper berry, sawdust and white musk.) Three 85g candles for $42 at Luckyscent.

From Smallflower, the Woodsy Scents Holiday Gift Box: "Do you have someone on your list who adores the scent of a freshly felled log, cedar-lined closets, or a morning walk through the forest? They'll love Smallflower's Woodsy Scents Gift Box. It includes four fabulous products that capture the allure of the scent of wood." With Nesti Dante Cypress Tree Shower Gel, Soap + Paper Factory Roland Pine Votive Soy Candle, Indigo Wild Frankincense + Myrrh Zum Body Lotion and Spa Ceylon Sandalwood Spice Luxury Soap, in a gold gift box. $45 at Smallflower.

From Secondskin, Coppola Body Wash: "Secondskin is devoted to the art of relaxation, from its organic loungewear to a commitment to "olfactile pleasure". Founded by four friends in Japan, Ms Yindigo A. Mochizuki is the Creative Director who also acts as Chief Aromatherapist for the brand. This 'Coppola' body wash is infused with delicate Rose, relaxing Lavender and Cinnamon for an enticing mix that's sure to set your day off on the right track." 250 ml for $40 at Mr. Porter.

From Novel Studios, the Vetiver Concrete Candle: "Hand-poured and handcrafted in Brooklyn, this strikingly architectural candle pairs raw concrete and soy wax for a sculptural piece that evokes the melting visuals of a sunset. Scented with a signature blend of essential oils, vetiver, cedar and sandalwood, the aroma is slightly sharp, warm and grassy, with hints of earthiness and musk." $55 at Nordstrom.

From Miller Harris, the Christmas Set for Him: "Designed by London based artist Julie Verhoeven, this set of travel perfumes for him is the perfect gift for Him this Christmas. Our Christmas Gift Set for Him contains a versatile selection of our most popular men's fragrances. A brasserie in Saint Germain in Feuilles de Tabac. The well-worn leather jacket of Étui Noir. The courageous and mischievous character of Vetiver Insolent. Each set contains a surprise in the form of an envelope with Christmas cracker hats, keeping up with the obligatory hat wearing on Christmas day." Three 14 ml bottles, marked down to £60 at Miller Harris.

From Olivina Men, Bourbon Cedar All-in-One Cleansing Cloths: "Maintain that clean feel wherever you are with All-in-One Cleansing Cloths - Bourbon Cedar by OLIVINA MEN. Convenient for on the go or after the gym use, these individually packaged cloths work to purify and refresh your skin. Bourbon cedar features a natural fragrance of rich red cedar and smoky vanilla." Also available in Juniper Tonic, $10 for a box 10, at Dermstore.

From Proraso, a Beard Care Tin in the Wood + Spice fragrance: "Whether a new beard, short beard or long, thick beard, Protaso's Single Blade Collection Beard Care Tin contains everything a gentleman needs to care for any and every stage of beard growth, all in crisp, fresh scent of Wood and Spice. Set includes: Beard Wash, a gentle yet effective cleanser for both beard and skin; Beard Balm, to soften hair and ease itch and irritation associated with new growth; and Beard Oil, to nourish, smooth and protect the beard while softening and adding sheen." $45 at Amazon.

From Claus Porto, soap on a rope in Spiced Citrus: "Woody spices such as ginger and nutmeg work with revitalizing lemon and neroli to create a beautifully distinctive aroma. The soap comes presented with a cotton rope that has been manually placed, and each is moulded and hand-wrapped one by one." $25 at Nordstrom.

Men's Herbal Warming Slippers: "Made for pampered resting, not walking, they're not only super soft and comfy, but the insoles are filled with aromatic lavender buds and thermally conductive flax seeds. In wintertime, heat them up in the microwave and slip them on for some end-of-the-day relaxing warmth, enhanced by their lavender scent. During the summer, cool them down in the fridge and treat your feet to some sweet heat relief." $48 at Uncommon Goods.

Gosh, I wouldn’t want a soap on a rope into which the rope was NOT placed manually, and the hand-wrapping is also key to my peak experience…tee hee!

HA — and I was wondering if there was indeed a machine that puts the rope into the soap? Was it an artisanal choice?

Oh dear. I want everything on this list (although I have no need for beard care products). That concrete candle, boy smells, Nesti shower gel… so many delights!
