Happy Repeal Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Bruno Fazzolari Ummagumma. Tea at the moment is Sichuan Zao Bei Jian from Upton Tea.
Reminder: 12/8 will be Patchouli Friday...what it says!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image shows a "Lucid Dreamer" cocktail courtesy of Hendricks Gin. Per teacup, 40 ml Hendricks Gin, 20 ml Strong Chamomile Tea and 5 ml Elderflower Cordial. Add all ingredients to an ice-filled teacup, stir, garnish with a lemon wedge and cucumber slice.
You seem to be doing your own gourmand project, Robin.
As for me, I could do patchouli for weeks (with short breaks). Today I am wearing wonderful Portrait of a Lady.
Lovely! I get all flowers out of POAL – I wish I got patchouli!
Rose is the main note there, but to me patchouli is quite noticeable. Maybe one day you’ll get some patchouli too.
Ah, I do like POAL, so you’ve given me an idea for Friday.
You could wear Eau du Sud, too. I remember you like it. Though I do not get patchouli from it, Goutal’s website lists it for this fragrance.
Oh, almost everything has a bit of patch but Eau du Sud is not what anybody would call a patch fragrance, right? I think that would be cheating
I suppose it would. But technically it would not.
Ha, that’s the spirit!
Inspired by Bear yesterday, I am wearing Dana Tabu. Every time I wear it it seems to be more potent! I am still trying to understand my mother’s love for it
Robin, do you like Ummagumma?
Yes, it’s very cozy, just as described! I probably will end up liking Feu Secret & Lampblack better, though.
This seems like as good a place as any to mention that I was given a bottle of 30 mls of Room 237 for my birthday, a perfume that does not at all work for me. Anyone out there hankering for Fazzolari’s Room 237 and want to swap for something including samples?
I am ann dotty eisenberg attagirl comcast dotty net
I love Tabu, you smell fantastic, perfumelover67! ????????????????????????
Thank you Bear! I really like Tabu, but do not love it. You and my mom are really fans of it! ????????????
Triple strength coffee
Verdict on yesterday’s Tabu, expertly blended.
If I seek the patchouli I discern it, otherwise it bolsters the animalic base of musk and civet.
???????????? Angel EDP ⭐????????⭐
H8ers gon’ H8! !!????????????????????
I ❤????❤ it!
Got a couple of ‘Are you wearing Aunt Ethel’s Tabu ?’ glances while running errands after work yesterday.
Yes I am.
YES you are! LOL!!????????????
Tabu is exquisite stuff, if you haven’t tried it, Sheherazade by Jean Desprez is another is super sexy (no patchouli though).
I took a page from your book yesterday – double espresso, three-mile run and a yoga practice (focusing on balancing poses core work and hip openers).
I have not experienced Sheherazade, SmokeyToes !
Will put that on my list to sample.
Strong coffee, and enjoyable movement.
Good health is the best gift ???? for now, and 2018 !????????????????????
I think I am addicted to emojis !!
I tried DSH’s version of Sheherezade. Lovely, but I haven’t tried the original.
Mals86 – I had the vintage extrait and it was glorious.
If you can find it, do try it! I find it similar to Bal a Versailles but with a spicier/carnation vibe.
Yes you are, and with fondest regards for dear old Aunt Ethel.
Yes, Tabu minus the unfiltered Chesterfields.
Thanks, missionista !
Smelling goooood in Angel!
And it gains in strength the longer it is on my skin, which is some neat perfume magic ! ⭐????????????????‼‼‼
Angel gets STRONGER on you? Wow. I’d still like to get a whiff of the vapor trail you probably are leaving behind.
Right now it is patchouli, chocolate, and helional (that berry, ozone, coumarin accord) with candy floss to boot! !!!
Subtle- it ain’t! ????????????
Today’s SOTD is Red Door Velvet by Elizabeth Arden – musk, patchouli, vanilla and honey bomb.
That sounds delicious
holineroli – it’s discontinued but can still be found at discounters online for under $50.
I’m curious what you think of that Ummagumma, Robin!
I’m doing patch today in L’Agent.
I’m sure I will review it. Have you tried it yet?
Nope. I sucked at keeping up with new releases this year. But it sounds nice.
Boy, so did I!
Well the ONLY patchouli I own, at least that I know of is Vengeance Extreme. I was in a perverse mood when I bought it as it is very far from my norm. Today I wear it as a warm up. I may have said it before here but I wear it when I have to take public transit in hopes that people will give me space. Or when I have yard duty and will not be in an enclosed staff room for others to notice it. It is LOUD, at least to me.
Which makes it Eau de Protection!
I am wearing Nicole Richie. Lots of patchouli in this one. I am probably not the target audience for Nicole Richie, and I cannot tell you much about her, but I do enjoy wearing this scent. Also, I am drinking a cup of honeybush acai berry tea.
All I know about Nicole Richie is a) she had something to do with Paris Hilton and b) her fragrance line is not robust
I also know she is Lionel Richie’s daughter
Ok I knew that too!
I got a lot of pineapple from that one…
I smell some citrus also. Maybe I am smelling pineapple.
Robin, I love the pics you choose. And the recipe sounds good to me but I seldom make cocktails. Maybe putting them in teacups….
I drink pretty much the same thing every time I drink, and it probably doesn’t qualify as a cocktail either! That recipe sounds like it would indeed send me to sleep
I’m having a lot of anxiety today. I’m wearing Coco. Its like fancy comfort food☺ I layered it with Korres jasmine body lotion. Very nice. Yesterday I tried Halston Amber in the store, on my skin. I had to scrub it off in the restroom. ( honestly, why don’t I ever learn?) I don’t generally get along with amber, and it seems to get good reviews, but was not for me.
That Korres body lotion is the best.
I love the Jasmine, can you recommend any other scents?
Jasmine is my favorite, hands down. I also like Japanese Rose and Basil Lemon.
The rose one sounds nice. Thanks!
I enjoy the Jasmine, the Japanese Rose, and the Guava lotions from Korres.
You smell wonderful lillyjo. I hope it helps with your anxiety.
Deep controlled breathing can help alleviate anxiety, and also distract your mind from worry.
I wish you well, lillyjo.
Thanks Bear, I didn’t know it helps as a distraction.
I hope Coco provides some of the comfort you are needing today- you smell wonderful!
Wishing you peace Lillyjo. And you smell divine!
I hope the anxiety passes, lillyjo!
Thanks, I’m at work now, and feeling a bit better.
Best of luck dealing with the anxiety!
Amber is overrated. I hope you can find your calm.
In theory, I should really like amber, but it almost always gives me a headache. Maybe I havnt smelled the right one.
Ugh! I hate anxiety. It is physically painful, and makes every activity difficult. I second the slow breathing advice, but know that it just touches the edges of anxiety. Hope it passes soon. And in Coco you smell warm, open, and elegant!
Thanks so much for the empathy. Most of the people in my life just tell me to get over it.
Always my favorite piece of advice, LOL — like the current status of your neurotransmitters is a lifestyle choice.
I third the breathing. Going to a good yoga meditation class always helps me, although when I’m really stressed or anxious I can’t make myself go.
Slow breathing helps, I hope the anxiety goes away quickly…. There’s an 4-7-8 breathing technique used by Dr. Andrew Weil that is quite effective. I utilize it in my meditation practice. You can find the video online.
If you like Halston, and can find it, Halston Couture (not the original) is a beautiful woodsy/patchouli/chypre, elegant and bone-dry.
I have always loved original Halston, I didn’t know there were other versions. The Couture does sound nice.
I hope your day turns more peaceful, and your Coco helps.
Sending hugs and warm thoughts..
As an anxious introvert, I commiserate. Hope your perfume brings comfort. The long slow breaths do help but I often have to resort to meds, mostly to sleep. Wishing you relief soon.
Thank you. I have to do the same for sleep. The worst for me is when I’m having a panic attack and have to go out in the world. It can be so paralyzing. I went to the Doctor yesterday, to again try to get some relief.
May you have great smells and some peace in your day.
Thanks Jalapeno, I’m not lacking for great smells, that’s certain!
Hope your anxiety diminished through the day. My sister suffers with that at times. Difficult.
I’m sorry you are having anxiety. I have lots of students who have to deal with that. Some have benefited from compassion-based meditation or cognitive training, and there are many resources on the internet. In fact, we have occasionally offered a multi-week training in it, and my university hosts weekly guided meditation in our non-denominational chapel. I hope you find ways to relieve it; aromatherapy might be helpful, though not a sole solution, as you like fragrance. Sending a hug your way!
SOTD: Oud Wood with Rose de Grasse
Never tried Sichuan Zao Bei Jian but I just googled it and it sounds delicious! Need to get some.
Upton calls it “one of the finest black teas available today” and it might well be (even though I drink a lot of tea I am no connoisseur) — I find it enjoyable to drink but far from my favorite black tea. I keep meaning to try Tea Trekker’s version.
Tea Trekker was where google brought me. Their description was too good to pass!
Aha — then let me know if their version is any good!
Trying Twilly from a sample… I quite like it although before reading the notes I thought it was like 90% orange blossom! Anybody else read it that way?
I tried it on skin this weekend and did not get orange blossom. The drydown for me was mostly sandalwood and I was surprised how much I liked it. I am not in their target group at all, lol. That bottle is super cute in person!
I agree! I’ve never stolen a thing in my life but I was sort of eyeing the lil scarf on the display bottle…
I clearly did not read the notes properly; on me it’s a screamy, screechy tuberose! Hmmm.
I think it is SUPPOSED to be tuberose, just wondering if anyone else’s nose is as confused as mine. (Pleasantly confused though!)
I got a lot of tuberose and coconut.
I didn’t notice the tuberose that much either. I sent my sister a sample, and the tuberose was the main thing she got. I get more gingery sandlewood. I like, and I’m way outside target,
SOTD is Vol de Nuit parfum. Ehhhhxcellent.
hannahmom, I’ve been thinking of you. Hope the results of your biopsy have come in and are perfect!
Not until the 18th, but thank you for thinking of me.
Seems I’ve used the majority of patchouli-centric samples and decants I once had. I’ll have to dig around a bit, but chose L’Instant de Guerlain pour Homme Extreme for its cocoa-chouli. Perfect for the, warmish, drizzly day. Cozy without being heavy. Back to the grind today. Yawn.
That sounds so wonderful.
It is lovely, KellyC. ElisaP introduced me to LIDGE early this year, and has a pretty jewel in her enablers crown as a result. ????
I’d love to send you a bit of it and spread the love! I’m at nlmcook aaat sbcglobal dot net, if you’re interested.
SOTD is Femininite du Bois, which is lovely. However what I’m really excited about it the new deodorant I’m wearing. It smells soooo great! It’s by Schmidt’s, which is one of those ‘natural’ deodorants. We shall see how it goes as far as effectiveness, but the scent is heavenly – Jasmine Tea. Do you think it looks weird when people sniff their armpits all day?
In other news, my daughter brought a cat home yesterday. It’s crashing on our enclosed porch for now. Poor baby has a boo-boo on his tail, but he’s very sweet. Of course the kids and I want to keep him but my husband is pretty firmly against it. We already have two cats.
Hope you can talk the hubby around.
I hope you can keep it!
You smell gorgeous!!
I hope the new deo works for you! Schmidt’s has great scents, but the texture is way too crumbly/clumpy for me. Like, more of it ends up on the floor and inside my sleeves than on my pits.
Ugh! I threw away an Arm&Hammer deodorant/antiperspirant which beautifully.
Except people could track me a la Hansel and Gretel, by crumbly white clumps on the ground! !!!!!
Did I say UUGHHH !?!!
*which worked beautifully
I use the Schmidt’s – mine is rose vanilla. It works well for me which was a surprise- I didn’t expect it to work!
My husband wòuld be the opposite. He ignored me when I wanted him to find homes for the two who showed up in our CA backyard. Next thing I knew I was driving them across the country.
I’m an Old Spice Amber deodorant gal. Just got a new one today.
No SOTD yet. I have a little head cold. Nothing major, but enough that perfume would make my nose run more. I do have a question for lovers of Kenzo Amour. I wore it last Friday since it was the only thing I owned from the three noses in the challenge and it’s office friendly. I bought my 30 ml bottle back when the different sizes came in different colors. Has it changed much since the bottles are now all pink? Is it worth seeking out pre-reformulation for a higher price?
I did not know the color of the bottle had been changed. That is a shame. I have not tried any reformulations, but if I had to pay a higher price I will prefer to spend that money in the pre-reformulation bottles. I am pretty sure they can still be found.
Yes. Do not buy the all pink newer ones, get an orange or white one from original release. The reformulation is very weak.
I sort of remember trying this at Sephora after it was released and bought a (fuschia) bottle about 4 years ago. It smelled pretty much like my memory of it but can’t say for sure. If it has been reformulated for some reason, I doubt it’s drastic.
A spare cloud of Gucci Rush this morning. I hope it doesn’t scare my coworkers!
I’m in peacock mode: kiwi colored jeans and a purple corduroy button down. Ready for a great day!
I found turquoise men’s Levis on clearance @ Marshalls a few months ago.
Don’t know when I’ll wear them, but better be ready for the attention! ????????
I think I saw those down here in Houston, but this guy needs a touch of stretch in his jeans! ????????????
You look great!
Wearing Ramon Monegal’s Ambra di Luna.
Civet, Jasmine and amber.
First time wearing this, and I am really enjoying it.
Hope you are feeling less pain today and you get good news soon
I don’t think I’ll encounter anyone today, so my upfront Patchouli won’t enchant/horrify/annoy a single soul. Sometimes I like to return to the days/haze of yore.
Is it straight-up essential oil?
The Narciso that I wore yesterday was nice, but the dry down became almost gourmand sweet. I am wearing L’Envoi to counteract.
You smell fantastic!
We have had a temperature shift of about 30 degrees in the last 24 hours, which means that sweater season is here. Pairing that with Au Coeur du Desert today. Still trying to decide if I like it better than the original LADDM.????
I liked it better, but I am not sure what the perfumista consensus is — the original was not a huge favorite of mine so my vote probably doesn’t count!
That one (ACDD) is on my list to wear this week! You smell super great!
I liked both, but I like ACdD more.
I liked both, but I think I liked LADDM more.
I ❤️ patchouli! Can’t wait to read everyone’s choices this week. Decided to start demurely and work up to the big guns at the end of the week????
Sotd: Moonlight Patchouli
Nice. That is a pretty scent.
Good morning Y’all….
Getting over a bad cold, so I’ve been scentless for a few days. Feeling snuggly and cozy in my husband’s Aramis Havana today! I love a good dude scent every now and then….
Hope you are all the way better soon!
SOTD is Smell Bent’s Hungry Hungry Hippies, which will forever remind me of the Portland State University campus circa 1969. Or any head shop anywhere around that time.
No way I’m wearing that, but I admit that the name has always charmed me.
That whole line is very clever with names, so fun! A nice change from staid and serious perfume brands.
Mmm I love HHH and plan to wear it this week.
help me out here . . .
do patchouli and head shop go together
because smoking supplies (tobacco, cannabis, whatever) smell like patchouli?
or because patchouli is sold at head shops?
or because people at a head shop tend to smell like patchouli?
I think maybe because hippies buy smoking paraphernalia at head shops, and hippies wear patchouli oil. So it’s all the smells you mentioned.
I was having trouble knowing which of my perfumes had notes of patchouli since none of them were predominately patchouli, so I went to Luckyscent and did a search. Here are some I came up with, in case others are having the same problem: Amouage Beloved, Bracken Woman, Figment Woman and Epic Woman; By Kilian Incense Oud, A Taste of Heaven and Intoxicated; Indult Isvaraya; Puredistance M and White; Mohur, Parfums de Nicolai New York; Taur Noontide Petals and Au Coeur du Desert, ; Memo Luxor Oud, African Leather and Lalibela Oud ; Aroma M Geisha Vanilla Hinoki; Chanel Coromandel; Mugler Angel Muse; Hiram Green Arbole Arbole; Masque Milano Romanza and Clive Christian 1872 and X for women. I’m in the last mentioned. There were dozens more but I just made note of some that I have a sample of, at least.
I did something similar and found I had several that will work for this week!
New York Intense has patchouli? OK then, I do get to participate.
That one is very patch-heavy on me.
great list! I have a hard time knowing where the patchouli is, too, so thank you.
I have a luckyscent sample of Romanza somewhere, now I know I have at least one more for this week.
Without looking at the notes, Inwould not have pegged Bracken Woman as a patchouli scent.
There’s only one obvious patchouli scent in my collection, so I’m saving that for Friday.
Today I’m testing out a gorgeous Frankincense & Myrrh body lotion by Indigo Wild. I got suckered into buying a sampler pack by a free shipping deal they did around black Friday and oh no I’m becoming a little bit obsessed with their products…
Atop the lotion I spritzed some Body Shop Shea edt, my favorite comfort scent. I’m radiating soft, fluffy, coumarin-balsamic goodness today. Yum.
Today’s tea: Republic of Tea Ginger Peach
I had one of those little bath kits once! Fun stuff.
Random pick for the day is Vanilla Flash. This afternoon I’m going to get started with some DSH samples- the first I’ve had. I bought a holiday sampler so excited to try. BTW- if anyone in the US is interested in a sample of Dawn’s new holiday scent Chataignes des Bois (chestnut!!!), I have an extra and would be happy to share. Email in my gravatar.
Those holiday samplers look great, and until I saw them I didn’t realize how many holiday scents she still had in production! Please report back on your favorites.
Btw sample was claimed!
I am not motivated at all today. I am really having a hard time on what to pick out for my SOTD. I think that either Kyoto or Shalimar might work today.
I hope your day gets better Dawn. Kyoto will work for sure!
You know I’m voting for Shalimar!
Hello, all! I’ve missed you! I’m writing here now because I have a lot of work to do, and as long as I don’t look at it, it doesn’t exist, right? So I’m pushing back its existence.
Robin, that cocktail looks and sounds just lovely! I should get a nice, delicate tea set and start drinking cocktails from it.
My shows last week/weekend went well Everyone said lots and lots of nice things, and importantly, I did not screw up. By the time my last show came around on Saturday night, my voice started feeling tired, but I got my high B clear and strong, so all is well. (For the other sopranos here: yes yes yes I know a B isn’t THAT high, but I’ve got a big, heavy voice, and I don’t sing anything higher than a C in public, so a B is pretty far up there for me!) I’ve got the first nigglings of a cold today, so it’s a good thing my shows are all over.
I’m wearing Tom Ford Black Orchid today, and thus participating in the community project! I’m planning to wear Molinard Patchouli on Friday. This week’s project is pretty easy for me, and fits with the weather as far as my skin is concerned!
Have a lovely day, all!
Chamomile seriously does send me to sleep — I doubt I could drink that cocktail unless I was ready for bed. But it does look darned nice in a teacup, and I really ought to come up with a tea-based cocktail for myself.
So glad your shows went well, and hope you can avoid that cold.
Congrats on making it through the last of your shows!
Robin, we are twins! Looking forward to the review of Ummagumma.
Wearing the last of my sample, which accidentally (possibly on purpose) spilled all over me. Whoops!
I’m off for coffee, more coffee, and whatever I can scare up for breakfast. Stitches are coming out today, but the Teflon stays in. Maybe I’m bullet proof?
The first non-stick perfumista on NST…should make wiping up those Ummagumma spills easier
I thought I read everyday but I don’t know what you’re referencing, Deva.
????I hope you are feeling better, whatever occurred.
Bear, just a lot of drama on my part about a fractured tooth, and the subsequent extraction and bone grafting. You missed not a thing, my friend. Thank you for the well wishes.????
You’re welcome Deva!
I like your positive attitude/personality!
I’m wearing By Kilian Woman in Gold this morning. The notes say it has patchouli, though I don’t really smell it. I got this 10ml tester free from the sweetest Saks 5th Ave rep at the International Marketplace store in Honolulu. It’s a lovely reminder of my trip, and all I’ll ever need of this scent, which is nice but not worth Kilian’s prices to me.
Aha! There you are! Foxbins, you may already have said and I missed it, but how did the micro blading go? I’ve been dying of curiosity about your experience and whether you’re pleased with the result.
I saw a post from foxbins anday lr two ago and she said to email her.
SotD is Hiram Green Arbole Arbole. It’s patchouli-centric they say, but all I can smell is a jammy rose and geranium. Yum. My mouth is flooding. I can take patchouli like that
Arbole Arbole is an absolute love for me and I do not get any patchouli either.
Morning, all. I’m very tired, and all shaky. I opened the curtains this morning and there was Eric sitting OUTSIDE the window! He’s little, and the window ledge is wide, but still! a fall would have meant certain death. I’m trembling with reaction, and I have this mad desire to carry him about with me, tucked under my arm. Questions will be asked later, but in the meantime, we’re just glad he’s OK.
SOTD is something random. I can’t remember. No, really, I can’t. I smell nice. Maybe it was No 22. I honestly don’t know. I think i’ll Go and have a cup of tea. Another cup of tea, that is. I really am in some form of shock. Be well. Watch your pets.
I know exactly how you feel. My cat is indoor/outdoor. Some days we work late and arrive home in complete darkness. I go into panic mode when my baby isn’t waiting on the doorstep. It’s a horrible feeling. At these times, I spend the evening alternately lecturing and hugging my cat. So glad that Eric is safe and well.
What a terrible heart stopping fright and no wonder you’re shaking. Stay home today.
I had that very shaky response yesterday when T-Rex and I were at the dog park. Two Golden’s decided it was way past time to kill each other and it was horrible! Made me want to vomit, it was so upsetting. Thank god T-Rex was on a leash at the time, otherwise she would have zipped right over there to “investigate.” Give Eric and extra smooch for me!
That would shake me up, too! I’ve had those heart-stopping moments.
I’ve had that same sickening feeling with regards to one of the cats. For safety reasons, our cats are strictly indoor. One time, I found one of our cats on the front porch! Since we live next to a couple of very busy state highways, I totally freaked out, grabbed her, and brought her inside.
Wearing Rose Anonyme today, since it jumped out at me when I thought about patchouli…
So far all my patch choices are cowering in a corner somewhere
I just recently opened my RA soap that I’ve been resisting using. Not as potent as I was hoping, but it’s lovely.
SOTD = Guerlain Cuir Beluga
Not particularly patch centric but it’s there! It’s a cozy comfort scent. Love!
PSA: There’s something going on over at Undina’s blog. After you’ve done your NST business, go visit and join in the fun. That’s all I have to say ????
????????♀️Zipping on over!
Participating in a big way wearing Rose Boheme by Providence Perfume Company. Rose, tea patch, oud. So good.
You smell wonderful! I think I have something me left so thanks for the rec.
*some left* that was leprechaun auto correct ????
Ha, ha….happy to help out!
Rose Boheme is a beauty.
It’s one of my favorites from this house. It’s so well done.
Foxbins comments made me think of perfumes I would like to receive as a gift but wouldn’t buy myself ( usually as they don’t seem worth the high price). I seem to have quite few perfumes like that, niggling away.
I’m wearing What would love do? I don’t really understand the question. Driving down to Invercargill today for a surgeon’s appointment for Alex. I hope to do a bit of junk shop browsing while he’s in the fracture clinic….probably not what love would do.
LOL. I would probably do the same… épouse indigne.
I think you deserve more than junk shopping. This has been quite an ordeal for both of you.
Here’s hoping that you get some good news from the surgeon’s appointment.
That cocktail sounds really good. I love elderflower.
Since I wasn’t paying attention yesterday, I decided to do the rest of the week in various patchoulis. So I am kicking it off with Angel.
I love elderflower too — do you have a favorite elderflower liqueur?
Noorolain Taif today. I think I have six Scent Bar samples left. (of course this whole thing is separate from all the online Luckyscent samples…)
That sounds luscious! My DH brought me Taif Roses by Abdul Samad Al Qurashi back from a business trip to Dubai — it is heaven.
ANOTHER beautiful day here, usually we talk about the weather to complain about it, not to remark about how lovely it is. I think Ninfeo Mio for me today.
I’m in TF Café Rose today. I really like it, though not as much as my beloved Noir de Noir. But it’s really good and also counts for patchouli week!
You smell good KellyC!
I have a 4ml of Cafe Rose I received when I purchased Vert des Bois and enjoy the CR very much!
Patchouli week continues with Frederic Malle Monsieur. Wow, I don’t know why, but I really love this. I fear I will need more once my decant is gone. It’s boozy and incensey patch and very strong on me. My coworker took another sick day so I took that as my cue to stink the place up in the best possible way.
Yes, and thanks for the idea! How could I forget PoaL for this week’s project?
Coromandel for me today. I don’t know what possessed me to buy such a big bottle – oh right, edt discontinuation panic. I have a lifetime supply.
But it’s so good!
It’s worth having a big bottle of that one. ????
Sampling Prada Olfactories Heatwave which is a happy tropical floral. I like it but not enough to spend full price.
Turning the volume WAY up to 11 today. SOTD = Reminiscence Patchouli EdT, from the sample stash. This stuff will obliterate the drydown of Angel EdP left on clothes!
I have a question for the essential oil and/or aromatherapy folks here. Does Patchouli have calming properties? I have never noticed it before, but wearing the Patchouli sample, I have felt really mellow today. Maybe something to keep in mind if holiday craziness gets on my nerves…
I too would like to know if patchouli is good for calming down.
Jasmine essential oil relaxes me.
I like jasmine scents a lot, but I haven’t noticed any calming or relaxing effect for me. I ought to pay attention the next time I wear something jasmine-heavy.
SotD = Prada Les Infusions Amande
Almond scents comfort me. There was almond scented body oil in the bathroom cupboard of my childhood home.
Went shopping for holiday party supplies today and could feel the mounting frenzy. This time of year the world needs fewer ughs and more hugs.
Waft on, NST, you smell marvelous.
Almond scents are so yummy.
nom nom nom!
Finally getting back to my computer!! SOTA is DSH’s is Noel Enchante, a seasonal take on tuberose and oakmoss with a huge dollop of patchouli to boot.
That sounds lovely. Do you like it?
I do! In fact, I was just musing about whether I want to get another decant when this one runs out. It goes on strong but within 30 minutes it calms down (I find this so with several DSH perfumes). I am not sure why, but this scent does smell like Christmas–in a good way. I am definitely not hankering for a full bottle, but I like to have a sample around.
So very late to the game. Horrid day. Commando because of throbbing tooth pain. Finally got in to dentist and all is confirmed. The root canal is scheduled for Thursday. Sigh. So, a few more days of Advil.
And, my sister is evacuating from her home in Ojai as a precaution. No way they are taking a chance with those winds and few routes out of town. Loaded up two cars and hooked up the fifth wheel trailer. She was heading out a couple of hours ago. Praying her home and Ojai survive. Horrid for Ventura.
So sorry about your tooth pain! Healing vibes for you and safe passage vibes for your sister. Smart to get out early.
Thanks so much! My dentist is such a wonderful man. Incredibly kind. So that helps.
I doubt this is much consolation, but I have had a root canal, and it healed up great. Much better than the cracked tooth was. Best of luck for that, and for your sister.
I am you twin in dental horror and all I can say is the anticipation is worse than the event, so take heart! It won’t be as bad as you think, and I hope the Advil keeps your pain at bay until the root canal is completed. Best wishes to your sister as well!
Thanks all. Glad to hear others have found it not as horrible as I imagine. It helps.
I’ll focus tomorrow on wearing a nice scent!
Oh my gosh, this exact thing happened to me a few weeks ago! I had a cavity filled and my dentist said it was close to the nerve and would be “sensitive” for awhile. I had it checked at two weeks and she said give it more time to calm down, I called at three weeks practically in tears and begged for a root canal. I was able to get in with the endodontist the next day.
If it’s any consolation, the root canal should bring instant relief from the throbbing pain. I just had a few days of achiness afterward.
Best of luck!!
Yes. Mine was from a filling replacement in a back molar. My dentist yesterday says it happens maybe 5% of the time.
Let’s just say that between this and our kitty, my vacations will be virtual for awhile….using music, closed eyes or a library book, and fragrance through both my scents and scented candles. ????????????
Today I tried ELDO’s Noel au Balcon. Very nice, but not really me. Still looking for a great holiday/winter scent! All suggestions welcome.
How about SL Fille en Aiguilles? I sniffed it last week and the dude at the counter called it the Smell of Christmas. It was lovely and I wouldn’t mind having a bottle. Here’s a link to Kafkaesque’s review. http://www.kafkaesqueblog.com/2013/07/18/perfume-review-serge-lutens-fille-en-aiguilles/
Slumberhouse Norne is a wonderful piney, fir-incense thing. Smells like the forest where you’d get a Christmas tree.
I started out the day in Zoologist Elephant, from a very successful blind split. It takes a couple of hours for the patch to come out and play on my skin.
We went Christmas shopping earlier, so I’m going for a spritz of When We Cuddle. It really seems to be a calming fragrance. ????
