Parfums de Nicolai Patchouli Intense ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 20 September 2017 11 Comments

Parfums de Nicolaï Patchouli Intense

French niche line Parfums de Nicolaï has launched Patchouli Intense, a new woody oriental fragrance.

‘This wood is a fabulous raw material’ said Patricia de Nicolaï. ‘In a chord, its role is similar to that of a viola in an orchestra – the instrument that leads all the others’.

The patchouli is surrounded by an oriental background trimmed with incense and spices. But it avoids lapsing into ordinariness, with its combination of lavender and pelargonium contrasting with the dark wood.

Additional notes include orange, cinnamon, sandalwood, vanilla, amber and musk.

Parfums de Nicolaï Patchouli Intense is available in 30 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum, or in a 15 ml travel spray with 250 ml refill.

Update: major oops, this fragrance has been around for years.

Missed that one in Florence. The brand was not exhibiting at Pitti Fragranze but at the lobby of their hotel instead. I just didn’t have enough time to make it.

Like the notes on this one plus, her use of lavender in other scents is always so good so I’m curious to try this.

It does not sound like my thing, but I want to try it too :-)

It’s not new right? I bought a bottle of it a year ago…

Bill! Kevin reviewed it in 2009!

I am shocked this does not happen more often. Thank you!

        Robin, I found this: https://www.fragrantica.com/news/Patchouli-Sublime-Nicolai-Parfumeur-Createur-Review-9988.html

Maybe it’s Patchouli Sublime not Patchouli Intense that’s coming out.

Ha, I bet that is just what it is. I read somewhere that PdN had introduced a new Patchouli something at Pitti, and then saw this image on her FB page, and thought that was the new one. Either way, it’s funny (to me) that I didn’t recognize it as something that we had already reviewed. Usually they eventually send me a press release so I will just wait :-)

Patchouli Intense is my first Nicolaï perfume. I’d love to smell what Patchouli Sublime is like! Although I’m pretty sure at that price – I’m assuming it’s gonna be at the same price as Oud Sublime – it’s not something I’m gonna get a bottle of.
Well maybe I’ll just pop into a Nicolaï boutique sometime next week and see whether it’s out.

Not new. I remember giving samples of this to my neighbors in 2010! Unless it’s changed, it’s really wonderful. If it is new, what is different? Certainly not the name. It used to be called Patchouli Homme.

Yes, that is noted in my reply to Bill and in an update to the article above.
