Hump Day! Plus, happy birthday to Helen Mirren. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Alber Elbaz par Frédéric Malle Superstitious on one arm, and Nathalie Lorson's Le Labo Another 13 on the other. (I'd entirely forgotten Another 13. Does anyone here ever wear it?)
Reminder: 7/28 will be Nathalie Friday...wear a perfume by Nathalie Lorson or Nathalie Feisthauer, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2017, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Trying out a new drugstore liquid eyeliner, L’Oréal infallible paints in black. We shall see..so far so good. Also testing our a new moisturizer, I visited the Deciem store in Toronto.
Outside with the kiddos while they are playing in the sand box. SOTD Songes, tea: Pleine de Lune
are you on an eyeliner quest? I like Mac fluidline in blacktrack.
You smell great 🙂
If I bring home one more Canadian product…hahaha 😉
I normally like Asian brand liquid eyeliners, but I will check out Mac
It’s a gel in a pot – it’s $17 but it’s more affordable than a lot of the potted liners
What brand of liquid liner do you like ?
I really liked the Kate eyeliner, Victoria on BdJ reviewed it. But, waiting for it to come in the mail is too much of hassle for me since its ships from Japan.
Which moisturizer? I am a huge fan of Deciem – cheap and effective.
Natural Moisturising Factors
What about you?
Another big Deciem fan here – their “Ordinary” line is, I agree, very inexpensive and effective. I also use some of their NIOD products, which are not quite the same bargain, but I like them a lot. Have you noticed a huge spike in the number and variety of products they are selling, lately? I kinda wish they would stick to fewer, so that I don’t feel I have to test out more stuff……
I am waiting for their sunblock with anticipation..
Love your perfume and love your tea! How are you liking the Natural Moisturising Factors? I find them a bit too heavy for this time of year, but otherwise it’s a great moisturiser.
So far I like it! I also bought the simple face oil, but I am saving it unopened in the box for now. What do you use in the summer for moisturizer?
I’m currently mostly using the BioBeauté by Nuxe crème lissante. I’m sure it’s not the best cream in the world but it works nicely. I also like Caudalie Vinosource riche.
I really liked Nuxe, but they pulled out of the US market completely. Au Revoir for now…
I love Deciem products! The Niod copper serum is great, as is the line of The Ordinary foundations and serums!
as soon as I am out of my tinted moisturizer I will purchase the ordinary serum foundation. It was fantastic
I really need to try Songes again!
I sampled it more than a year ago when i was hunting for jasmine scents. I ended up falling in love with Sarrasins…but this one gets so much love everywhere…worth a retry.
Are you in the US? I have a full bottle and can send you some.
I am from the old world! The Netherlands.
Thanks a bunch for the offer though, thats sweet!
But i still have a sample (I hope it has not turned).
Holland has a special place in my heart and stomach: the bosche bollen dessert (spelling maybe off)
Bossche bollen are delicious!
And do you like stroopwafels?
yes!
looking at my waistline…
I’ve just looked up Pleine Lune, it sounds delicious! – I might have to treat myself when my first pay cheque comes in.
you should! its a great tea
I love Helen Mirren. Wearing Fourreau Noir today. The rain has passed and the sun is out!
Almost twins!
I’m wearing The Body Shop Shea, which is almost a Forreau Noir dupe.
Yum. You both smell great!
Nice! I need to check that out.
Interesting! That would be a cheap thrill dupe!
you smell wonderful!
Triple strength coffee.
Went with a friend to a before sunrise cardio/dance/Zumba/whatever-it’s-called-in-2017 class.
Fun, lots of enthusiastic people, but if you’re gonna play Britney, it has to be I Got That Boom Boom, not Toxic.
LOLOLOL. 😉
After doing perfume penance yesterday (Chanel Chance EDT ugh!), I’m wearing Comme des Garcons Odeur 53.
Jasmine/Hedione, smoky frankincense, nail polish, musk ON MY SKIN. YMMV
Wonderful! !!!!
Great song: Angela by The Lumineers.
Off to work.
🙂
Carpe Diem. Peace.
Oh man, I love Odeur 53! Dance your way over here and I’ll make you super-strong coffee and play any Britney song you want.
I have done a couple of early morning dance raves- green smoothies and Electronica/Dance and lots of dancing. Not a bad way to start the day!
SOTD is Parfums de Marly Meliora. Very fruity – juicy and tangy. A scent of summer berries. But I’d prefer it without vanilla (or with less vanilla) – it has this overused vanilla-musk base, although thankfully it’s not very strong. I think Meliora would be great for someone who would like to smell like a delicious summer dessert.
I am feeling better today. 🙂 Many thanks to everyone for sympathy and good wishes yesterday.
Forgot to write that Meliora was made by Nathalie Lorson. Chosen for this week’s community project.
So glad you’re feeling better!
Thank you, Robin. Very kind of you!
Carnal Flower today, it was my first day at a new job yesterday, and wore Chasse Aux Pappilions. Home today, and fancied something a bit noisier!
good luck with the new job, you smelled great yesterday and you smell great today!
Thanks!, i really enjoyed it!
Good luck with the new job!
You smelled lovely both days! I hope you are happy with your new job, lots of luck! I am still house bound because of my bad shoulder and it is getting a little bit on my nerves not being able to drive, cook, shop or work in the garden. Fysio said a corticosteroid injection may be needed if the swelling doesn’t lessen over the coming week. Wearing Heure Exquise, what else 😉 when in need for beauty, comfort and a bit of galbanum grit!
Oh yes, u can’t do better than the wonderful & gorgeous Heure Equise when going through troubles!so sorry you’re having such a difficult time.. I was thinking of u the other day when packing perfumes for a 2 week stay at a friends, going through my collection and thinking how so many of my favourites are thanks to you, and I always think of u when I wear Heure Equise, and a couple of others too.
I hope so much the swelling goes down without the need for the injections. It must be incredibly frustrating for u, especially as u are usually so busy and active!
Sending u love and scented hugs, and I hope the recovery goes swiftly and well X
Congratulations on the new job! You smell gorgeous.
Good luck and congrats
Congrats!
Thanks scented pals!
Congrats on the new job!
Congrats on your first day of work!
Apparently my brain can only really focus on one obsession at a time so perfume has been bumped down in favor of wedding planning. Have been wearing Jardins d’Armide for the past three days. No brainier that always smells great
I’ve been popping in and out lately. Did I miss your wedding announcement? Wishing you great fun for the wedding and great love on after!
I got engaged at the end of March (scent of engagement was Chantecaille Le Wild) and my wedding will be June of next year. Each step requires lots of reading. Have the venue, now to get a caterer and figure out where we’ll be going for the honeymoon–Bali, Zanzibar, Fiji, cruise? Possibly a cruise around Bali on a tall ship?
Pretty sure I missed this, so…congrats!!!
Honeymoon – all of the above 🙂
Congratulations to you! Wedding planning is fun, but stressful, so I’m not surprised that other interests are taking a back seat.
But you have to plan the wedding perfume!
Ooh yes!, wedding perfume!!
My fiance seems to believe that just because I have dozens of essential oils and like to smell things that I should create a wedding perfume for us. My brain will have space after the honeymoon is booked 🙂
I hope you will tell us about your creation once you come up with it!
Oh I REALLY REALLY hope that you do this!!! make your own for him and yourself!!! it would be so special.
That’s a fun obsession. Hope it’s going well! And I just tried Jardins d’Armide for the first time fairly recently and really enjoy it. That woukd make a nice, romantic wedding scent!
Woo hoo…I think about you often but more so this past weekend – I wore LPRN Black Perfecto which reminded of French Kiss (and therefore, you, since you love it so) and if you are still in Boston this time next year, maybe we’ll get to see each other as I am already planning next year’s vacay.
Wide awake at 1.30 am so now I know what time the first comments appear. I am planning to do a Jean Claude Ellena amber day with L’artisan Ambre Extreme vs. Hermes Ambre des Merveilles. Heard my first skylark of the season while out walking yesterday…hints of spring.
I hate winter so much, but knowing you all will soon be enjoying spring and summer, makes me feel a little better about it. I saw a leaf drop the other day, and had to lie down.
Let us know who wins. I enjoy both but prefer the L’artisan, it just feels like a deeper, richer amber to me.
I prefer L’artisan too. It strikes me as a fuller scent whereas L’ambre des Merveilles feels a tad restricted by the fact that it had to reference the original Merveilles…i think starting from scratch with a composition works better than an edit.
SOTD: Il Vs Iris from Hilde Soliani. Nice, but not terribly exciting.
Was planning on getting back on the low-gluten, low-sugar plan, but instead stopped at wawa and got a 20 Cuban coffee with French vanilla creamer and a pork roll breakfast sandwich – I prefer plunging off the wagon head first rather than falling off.
So I’m wearing Tommy Girl, which is a pre-perfume obsession scent I have. I just picked up “the guide” from the library, and I feel so edified that this was given 5 stars. I know there are lots of perfumes out there that I would gladly bath in, but with limited bottles and samples, this is one I really do enjoy and can spritz with abandon!
Spritzing with abandon is a wonderful thing! And I ,also prefer to plunge off the wagon, lol.
????????♀️????
We need a perfume emoji 🙂
Moderation? What’s that? I also plunge off the wagon (and cliffs, and into trouble) – sometimes I think my head is wired to only respond to binary.
Word
Everything is good in moderation! its all about being mindful 🙂
Whah? Missed what you said. ????
My mind knows that that’s true…
HA!
Tommy Girl really is a great scent. I wore that and enjoyed it! Your coffee and sandwich sound amazing!
it was
Wow- that’s a heck of a breakfast!
I’m wearing So Pretty, which is perfect except the sprayer on my bottle is busted. Waahh.
So Pretty is So Pretty! And So Affordable!
I had never heard of it until this May when I complimented one of it’s wearers, she said she had worn it for years, but was thinking of switching to a Coach scent.
I see it at Marshalls and TJ Maxx but have not taken the plunge yet.
You smell great!
I should have worn Rien today, it reminds me of Dame Helen Mirren, but I forgot. I’m wearing Chamade in extrait de parfum.
Tea is Festin d’Or.
Pass a cuppa 🙂
I finished my thermos flask that I always bring to work in record time, it’s a great tea that I got because you liked it so much.
Thanks for the laugh yesterday.
Isn’t that one hilarious clip? Honestly, Fry is huge and yet he makes such a convincing woman. And you are welcome, I hate having my picture taken especially for my passport.
Tauer Incense Rose
Delicious!
it went “poof”, though, after three hours or less 🙁 I am surprised because it came on strong.
It dissapears very quick on me too no matter how strong it is.
Wonderful!, this will be my next perfume purchase in September.
Enjoy it when you get it!
It’s on my short list, too! I so want to get my hands on some.
You smelled gorgeous.
Thanks, Jalapeno but it was LONG gone around 11ish or so….scent eating skin 🙁
But then I applied Pom Noire (I forgot how much I loved this one…and it lasted a good five hours!)
Hey, the JM Pom Noir is no slouch, either. You picked a couple of beauties today.
Morning terror at work: 7am and we were all quiet and fully concentrated working. Suddenly a super strong smell hit our noses, brains, bodies and minds. We almost fainted and fell from our chairs. We did not know where the smell was coming from. One of my co-workers ran out of her personal Lysol wipes and decided that the best way to clean every single corner of her area of work (desk, chair, cabinet, etc) was abundantly spraying Charlie Revlon everywhere, paper towels soaked in it. No matter how wide open the windows are, we are and will be deeply suffering from this unexpected, unwelcome, terrifying Charlie “Bomb” attack forever. Even the carpet has been deeply affected! A bottle of almost 30 years, so you can imagine how concentrated it is….SOS!!!
No SOTD for me today and thanks to her…. maybe never again >:(
People are dummm.
My condolences.
🙂
I do not understand anything anymore! Or I’d better not!
I’m so sorry, but LOL! “And they call her Charlie….” (Old commercial jingle) maybe you can take a long lunch.
Not only a long lunch, but the rest of the day 😀
Charlie trauma! It must be especially challenging given your current perfume ennui, hope the toxic fume clears up soon!
Praying for it…
Did they ever figure out what the original strong smell was? Or did the Charlie obliterate it?
Nobody had any idea. I thought somebody was spraying on perfume, but the intensity was very abnormal. I was so confused and almost out of breath and Charlie did not come to my mind at that moment, until she happily showed the bottle. She said she has kept it in her drawer for almost 30 years when she started working here. She does not wear it at all, but I guess she decided to give it some use today. Another co-worker ran and brought an apple scented room spray to make the situation worse. I stopped her after the first spray. I was supposed to kidnap that bottle right away (I didn’t!). I just hope she does not try again anymore.
Oh my goodness, I’m not surprised you’re perfume free today!
😀
This is awful! Keep up the good fight perfumelover67!
Your story reminds me when a guy cam into the office reeking of gasoline because he had accidentally hosed his shoes with it while pumping gas…hen decides to come into the office with the same shoes???
Human beings never stop amazing or shocking me!
Jeez, time for the gas mask!
LOL!
HA! Cracking up…
😀 😀
Wow!!! ????
I know. Speechless!
Arghh that is awful. What was she thinking??!!
That’s what we have all been wondering. She did not seem annoyed at all by the potent smell. She said it was a nice alternative to the wipes. Maybe, we did not appreciate and enjoy enough her kind gesture!
Ha!!!! I am so sorry!
😀
Death by Charlie! Oh dear lord. I can’t imagine what people are thinking sometimes. I probably would have to leave early.
Everyday you encounter some craziness. And it gets worse and worse 🙁
Hilarious and yet so disturbing. I don’t know which I find more amazing….that she’d spray something like that with such abandon or that someone would have the same desk for 30 years….
I can’t even imagine being at the same job for 30 years! No fear of that happening at this point in my life.
Just the thought gives me chills!
She has been working here forever. Thinking about retirement already. Either she goes or I will. I do not think I can take another Charlie or any perfume attack again. She wears Jo Malone Red Roses. It would have been less painful if she had used that.
Egads! Your story is an example why so many places are fragrance free or going in that direction.
No doubts about it, especially when you face an extreme situation like this. It was very traumatizing. I am scared to go back to work tomorrow. The smell if going to stick forever!
Time to call in the hazmat team and work from home for a few days!
Or I might call in sick! 😀
Oh lordie lord, what a MESS! What you wore today may have to go to the incinerator as the scent gets trapped in the fibers.
I thought about you when I was writing my post. After washing my clothes, I put them miles away from me. I might not wear them anymore! Just to see them will remind me of today’s horror. Thinking how will I face the day tomorrow with the smell lingering everywhere.
This person sounds insane 🙁
She is!
No Nathalie for me today – SOTD is Le Galion Iris – BUT I tried Putain des Palaces last night and liked it very much. It was the first perfume I’ve ever sprayed and then thought, “Not for daytime. Evening. Definitely evening.”
You pass 🙂
LOL!
Miss Dior Le Parfum today. I smell very grown up and fancy. I would wear this more, but the bottle is very small, and I don’t want to run out. One of the few I do not spray like a mad woman.
Musc 25 today for a lazy day hanging out with the cat. I like to think she enjoys it – she certainly came in for a lap snuggle quickly.
Sounds good.
There was a very yummy SA @ the Nordstrom store who was flirting with reckless abandon, but alas I was intent on purchasing Tom Ford.
Will have to go back and explore shamelessly.
😉 LOLOLOL
sounds like a good plan to me!
Go for it Bear!, and report back please! ????
you smell great!
Purrrfect! My male cat stays away from me when I wear musks. He smells competition, perhaps?
SOTD You Or Someone Like You. Very green, I don’t find that anything from this house lasts very long on my skin, so I will probably will change fairly quickly to something else.
Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman today. This is the second wearing from my sample and I think I’m in love.
Helen Mirren is gorgeous! I hope I look half that good in another 20+ years. Plus, she is one classy lady.
Agreed..she is classy!
you smell fab!
You smell great and Hellen seems like a cool gal I wish I could drink cocktails or beers with
You smell super!
Wanted something cozy today, so SOTD is The Body Shop Shea. This really reminds me of the drydown of Fourreau Noir.
SOTD Serge Lutens De Profundis.
Stormy & low atmospheric pressure here. It was so hard to get out of bed, and I still feel dead tired in spite of sleeping for 8+ hours; though I did get woken up by a storm siren around 4am.
SOTD is deodorant and bug spray since T-Rex and I will be exploring. I’m planning on doing a couple of waterfall hikes today, spending the night in the woods and possibly doing another waterfall hike tomorrow (or a lake or river hike so we have a place to cool off when we get hot). Stay cool and crisp NSTers✌????
Sounds like a marvelous day. Enjoy!
Have a great time!
Rain and a hit of humidity (albeit amateur levels by East Coast standards) have finally come to Colorado, so I get to pass over my hot weather scents for the next 48 hours. I decided that Orlov’s Star of the Season fit the bill for today. It’s become my very favorite sandalwood fragrance.
Love Helen Mirren! I am wearing Perles de Lalique for Nathalie week.
I am wearing Mon Guerlain, drinking Laduree Josephine tea and listening to The Delphonics singing “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time). So far, great morning 🙂
you smell peaceful..
Writing down that tea.
The Mon Guerlain candle is really good and true to the perfume too
Loree Rodkin Gothic I. Thought it would be too much for a hot day but so far so good!
You smell great, love the Loree Rodkin gothic scents.
Thank you!
I am wearing MAAI, Bogue.
One of my favourite discoveries I made this year.
And i have to grin thinking about the afternoon the bottle arrived.
I had requested samples of Mito and Onda with it.
My husband came home, wanted to smell Maai, spritzed some in his neck, and then proceeded to spray mito on his left arm, and Onda on his right. I had quite the smelly husband that evening, we had a blast. Haha.
Onda is a favorite, I have to wear it soon.
Thanks for the reminder.
My kinda man !
A good time was had by all!
😉
Yeah my first impression of Onda was very good. On him. Still need to try it on myself one time. Haha.
I am happy you liked MAAI, I sampled it once and I smelled like the armpit of a man in a hot desert.
I like HOT MEN in deserts. Preferably with arm pits. Oh wait….you were saying? 😉
Haha, yeah I dont get sweaty to be honest. There is probably something wrong with me or my nose, because scents other people describe as animalic/sweaty are mostly kinda cosy/furry to me.
Haha!
Brave man! I have to beg mine to try stuff on.
I’m wearing Le Temps d’une Fete. No Nathalies in my collection, and that’s what caught my eye first this morning. Sunny morning, and I’m working from home, so I can spray with a little less restraint that usual.
Yay for being able to spray as much as you want. 🙂
Another gray day today – wearing VC&A Moonlight Patchouli.
I saw a bottle of Opium at Ulta last night, and couldn’t resist spritzing some on my wrist. (Opium was the very first perfume that I loved. I was a little kid, and I can still remember how eye-opening it was.) Since then, I’ve washed my wrist many times and taken a shower, and…I guess I’m still wearing Opium today? Holy cow this thing is strong.
Yup. It was a bomb back then when I was a baby/little kid and still is a bomb now!
I did the same thing at Ulta last night. Spritzed Opium on one wrist and Samsara on the other. The Samsara actually beat out the Opium by morning.
You smell amazing. Intense, but amazing.
Tried Acqua di Portofino’s Notte “edt intense” (?) last night. No. No. Just, no. It’s got that ozone-marine-sport scent thing going on. If I had had the energy, I would have tried to scrub it off. This morning it’s faint remnants are actually quite nice– but the initial few hours are not remotely worth it.
Lazy day for me with no work. My younger son is home without plans so we are “doing” American history through movies. We’ve finished the Pilgrims and the French and Indian War, and are now pre-revolution–so working our way through the first installment of the 1970s Kent Chronicles. Discovered this gem when researching movies for this American history project. I was able to rent the videos through Netflix, if you like historical fiction and melodrama with a pinch of 1970s camp (William Shatner is Paul Revere!!!), these are great! Here’s a review from the NYT: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/19/arts/television/nbcs-1970s-mini-series-the-kent-chronicles-on-dvd.html
What a great idea.
Trying out Byredo Velvet Haze today.
What do you think?
to me it’s a sweet patchouli, but not cloying necessarily. reminds me of several other perfumes but I can’t think what specifically. nothing too special, feels fairly linear.
Moving slow on this gorgeous day….must get outside!
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones last night. My first experience with being near a mosh pit… I was thankfully to the side and right up front so I could brace against the barrier and protect a friend’s daughter. And preserve my toes…stupidly, I had on sandals. If I ever do that again, it’ll be hiking boots! Great show.
Scentwise, I’m sampling some body powders I got, as well as a big fluffy powder puff, from etsy. I’ve had bath powder but no puff, which are seemingly rare out there. I do wish they still made Aliage bath powder…it got me through some swampy DC summers.
You’re brave! I saw that many years ago at Coney Island High (RIP) on St Mark’s Pl. Yes, steel toe work boots and body armor are a good idea.
Day 2 of Sandalwood attar for me. As good as it was yesterday 🙂
I am counting how many days you are staying monogamous.
Kerosene Unforsaken today. I was looking for Nathalie scents for Friday and found one…I bet I’m the only one who will wear it. A derivative oldie gourmand.
You smell great!
Happy Wednesday!
1) SOTD: Soir de Lune, two tiny spritzs from a sample . Good, green and spicy! I showered in Satsuma body wash, so the two make a great combo.
2) Iced cold brew coffee , fruit and yogurt for breakfast today!
3) Very warm yesetrday and today; may go swimming tonight!
Last of last year’s ll exclusive samples today, with benjoin (and of course enjoying it more than I have all the other times I’ve worn it, oh well).
I’m sure it’ll come around again at our Nordstrom’s and I’ll beg shamelessly again…
September you’ll get a chance! 😀 You smell great.
In was VERY impressed with your Nordstrom’s. It makes mine look and feel like a budget Macy’s.
DS & Durga Burning Barbershop for me today. This is way outside my wheelhouse, very fascinating. Burnt herbs and burnt rubber, black tea, something medicinal verging on musty. For some reason it reminds me a little bit of the way my aunt’s house would smell in the summer. She had an old cedar home next to a river. Maybe it’s the mothball type smell that’s familiar?
Does it contain Jasmine? Some jasmines smell like mothballs to me.
Wearing SDV today while taking advantage of the STC flash sale.
yum!
I hit up the flash sale too. I swore I would not shop this month and I’ve failed so miserably – the decants are just on icing on the cake, alas.
Today I’m in Easter Lily, a BPAL LE that smells like… wait for it… lily. (Shocker, I know!) It’s a straightforward soapy clean, green lily. Nice for a warm summer day.
still sampling the une nuit nomade line, today’s are better (than the strange rosa americana and murmure des dieux): fleur de fleurs (total White flower bomb, there are days for this), and Mr. Vetiver (more herbal-woody than vetiver, waiting for the drydown)
Still making my way through old decants/samples. Today I finished off Atelier’s Pomelo Paradis. Like many Ateliers, it has a lovely citrus topnote, but this frag disappears entirely in less than an hour on me – usually I get a few hours from an Atelier.
I’m in Sycomore today. Love this one so much!
I turned in my notice at my job today. 3 weeks. We have to be in New Mexico the first week of Sept. so if I leave in three weeks, that will get me a week to get some stuff done before we leave. New things ahead!
Enjoy the adventure! ;^D
you smell great! that’s all very exciting, I’m sure you’ll let us know how everything goes!
That is awesome. I would love to move house again
Wow! Exciting things ahead!
Best wishes for your move to New Mexico!
So exciting! Good luck on the move!
Good luck on your move!
Thanks all! A few specific requests for good thoughts- one, that our houses sell fast (we have one here and one in Maryland and we’d like to sell both and consolidate and get one in New Mexico). They’re both on the market so hoping for speedy sales. Otherwise we will be making those house payments as well as a rental payment in NM.
Also that once I get settled I can find another good job. I probably won’t look until after my 2 week trip to Korea with my son (end of Sept.) but I’m a hard worker and would like to find something fast.
Excited for new opportunities though!
SOTD is Givenchy “Pi”.
Top: rosemary, mandarin, tarragon and basil;
Mid: neroli, geranium, lily-of-the-valley and anise;
Base: tonka, almond, benzoin, vanilla and cedar.
This has provided a soothing, warm bed of benzoin to cushion my hungover tiredness after a night on the razzle. ;^)
“On the razzle!”
SOTD is Un Jardin en Mediterranee
Can’t help wondering what Helen Mirren’s passport photo looks like. I’ve been awake all night…trying perfume combos with amber but have now sprayed Jo Malone Nutmeg and Ginger (Nagel?) over a fresh layer of Ambre des Merveiles and it’s good…my version of Twilly. I was thinking about inventing conveyor belt perfume for my house…based on conveyor belt sushi and train sets. A steady flow of perfume passing my table but then I would have no reason to ever stand up again. Walking to another room to spray perfume burns several thousand calories and if I buy CDG concrete I’ll get an arm workout too
Perfume = Physical fitness? Of course it does. ????
Hold on to your Nutmeg and Ginger…it is discontinued to make room for the two new ones 🙁
Really? That’s a shame.
I know…it was the very first Jo Malone scent that she actually created herself for her clients as a body/massage oil….so odd that they would not leave it in the lineup for that reason alone. It baffles me why they have d/c so many other good ones too (Vanilla Anise, the Fig one, etc, etc)
I saw your passport photo comment yesterday. I, too, had a doozy trying to get one that was “me”. My first attempt, I could have sworn the Costco technician had the setting on wide angle while being a mere 6 inches from my face. Foxbins had the best idea which was to get it professionally taken; U.S., passports are good for ten years so the extra cost can be amortized over 10 years 🙂
I got very lucky with my driver’s license as I was able to opt to use the picture from 4 years ago. THAT one took 4 tries at the DMV (the lady was kind enough to allow the re-do but she warned me the 4th one was the last one).
Hello, all. Today’s A Day. Graduation, and 250 names in 9 different languages that I have to call correctly, lest I offend the graduands and their families. What perfume will see me through this marathon? I’m putting my trust in 31 Rue Cambon and hoping for the best, but honestly, the nicest thing anybody could do for me would be intravenous brandy. However, that’s not likely. Sigh.
Well, I’m rugged up in a long-ish black dress that won’t fight with my regalia, and I have on a red lippy, and really, there’s no reason to put off going to work. I should leave now. And I will. In five minutes. Or maybe ten, because Dakkie has flung a mouse onto the top of the bookcase, and I should rescue mousey and maybe dust the shelf while I’m there….I really am having a crisis of courage. I’m taking a deep breath and going now. Be well, all.
You can do it! And this time Sunday graduation and Whanganui will all be behind you and you will have two kittens to look forward to
Hang in there. You’ll do great!
I doubt brandy would do any favors for your pronunciation 😉
You’ve got this!
No, but I wouldn’t care!
perfect choice! i.e. would be mine in a similar situation! Good luck with your pronounciation (just think that everybody is used to their names being reinvented… personal experience)
Best of luck!
You’ve got this!
I hope everything went fine with the pronunciation.
How did it go, vaterdrahgown?
Hope it went well!
Like Hamamelis I am wearing AG Heure Exquise, in my case to combat dull-meeting blues. Had a nice time in Portland, and I came back with FOUR bottles of perfume: besides my very own bottle of HE now, I also got Dusita’s Douceur de Siam, ELO Bendelierious, and a bottle of Stash.
You have exquisite taste 🙂 The only one I don’t have is the Dusita…have never smelled anything from that line yet! Did you go to Fumerie?
Finally made it here….
Generously sprayed Atelier Pomélo Paradis this morning, but it’s long gone now….
The Ateliers smell so good but are fleeting to me..
SotD = Chanel No. 5 EdP lightly spritzed, a repeat from yesterday evening. No. 5 is great after a cool shower at the end of a warm day.
Hope everyone can stay fragrant and hydrated or fragrant and warm wherever your day takes you.
Have you tried the EDT, Tiffani’s? What did you think? I almost never reach for the EDP because I am a sissy 🙂
hiya, hajusuuri!
I often sniffed No. 5 EdT at the perfume counters in the past. I should give it another try. For me the EdT is more woods, more iris, more backbone. The EdP is much more floral, rounder and lush, so much that it makes me drowsy. I like both versions but when I decided to spring for a bottle the EdP was the winner. I should also try Eau Premiere again because my skin and nose have definitely changed in recent years.
Glad you’re back!
Robin, do you know if Le Labo will be discontinuing Another 13, due to Colette closing down at the end of this year?
Colette is closing down?? How is this possible? The place is always mobbed.
Sadly, Yes

No, I don’t know, sorry.
SOTD was Maison Martin Margiela’s “Replica” Tea Escape, from the sample stash. I say “was”, since it lasted all of 3 hours on me. Not really much there to begin with, IMO.
Sometimes, the short-lived ones serve their purpose. For example, Chanel No. 5 EDT lasts maybe 2 hours tops on me with 4 spritzes from my twist up travel spray, just enough time for a nice dinner that you know can’t go on for much longer than that.
I will grant that short-lived perfumes have a purpose. However, I wanted something that would hang around for a while today to distract me from things outside that weren’t quite the best smelling stuff.
Late today. Too many distractions! Had a work breakfast for a colleague who is retiring. She was very kind and helpful to me when I first started this job. She’s also very outspoken and doesn’t really care what others think about that. I’ll miss her ????
I wore Derek Lam Silent St today. Surprised by how much I like this cool, boring musk. Good for when it’s too hot (not today) or when you don’t want to offend yourself or others.
sometimes “boring” is both simple and nice….uncomplicated 🙂
Sounds like a perfect office scent!
It’s always sad saying goodbye to work colleagues with whom you have had a great relationship.
Chiming in late! Yesterday was my first day back at work. Back to back meetings and everyone wanting their issues, questions etc. addressed right away. I had an extensive vacation back up list and some people did what they were supposed to and others just…took up space. Anyway, yesterday’s SOTD had to be, you guessed it, Chanel No.19 EDP.
Today, I did a flanker of Nathalie Lorson’s Hermes Eau de Merveilles – Bleue! It was also one of the perfumes I wore often during my vacation so it prolonged my vacation euphoria. The other one I wore often was Chanel No.5 L’Eau. I brought the full bottles of these in the 30 and 25 mLs – it felt luxurious to be able to do that. jjlook, SunnyDay, Gi and AnnieA agreed that the bottles look adorable! I also wore my 2 staples — No. 5 EDT and No. 19 EDP.
Two tips for prolonging a vacation you enjoyed after getting home:
1. Wear the perfume you wore on vacation in the days following your return to remind you of when you were on vacation
2. Bring home bath and body products provided by your hotel / cruise and use them every time you want to be reminded of your vacation
Smelled in the wild today:
– Burberry Brit (whatever the original one was called with vanilla)
– Jessica Simpson Fancy
What’s up with all the vanilla? I may wear one tomorrow.
I love your comments! Glad you’re back and that at least some of the people did what they were supposed to in your absence. You smell marvelous today and also while you were on vacay!
Welcome back! I always do what you suggest to prolong those good vacation vibes.
